Allen Klein is a businessman. He has had dealings with a guy called Tony Calder who worked as a partner for Andrew Oldham. The three of them managed the affairs of the Rolling Stones. Oldham & Calder left the Stones scene, but Klein stayed. … Tony has something on his mind that is why he is taking me to work in his Morgan. He says: ‘Allen Klein says you are in his way. Allen says you are blocking him from meeting the Beatles and doing business with them.’ I am amazed. I say, ‘I never give Allen Klein a thought from one year to the next. What is the guy talking about, me being in his way?’ … So I tell Tony if Klein thinks I am in his way, and as I’m not in his way, I’d better show the guy I’m not, by moving out of the way anyone else who might be in his way. I tell Tony to tell Klein I am (a) not in his way, and (b) if anyon I tell Tony to tell Klein to call. I go into work at Apple and I see Peter Brown, Brian’s old pal, mine, the Beatles, Apple’s and so on. Peter knows many things. I say, ‘Allen Klein wants to meet the Beatles.’ ‘Does he ever,’ says Peter. I ask: ‘Is there anyone in his way?’ Peter says, ‘Only the Beatles.’ He explains Brian didn’t like Klein and the Beatles had never heard anything about him that attracted them either. … I say there is this guy Klein who badly wants to see them. John says yeah, Klein’s been trying to reach him but he won’t take the call. I do some hype for Klein and say he is a strange cat, hated by some of the people who met him and also by some of the people who have only heard of him. George says, ‘he sounds really nice’, and I say that if they want someone to run their money scene then Klein may be the man. But I also say they had better look at him very hard and ask around Jagger and Donovan and the others he handles. I mean really check Klein out. But see him too. See him face to face. John says OK, I’ll see him and the others rhubarb a bit and that’s the lunch over. I call Les Perrin and tell him tell Klein to call and Klein does and then he flies over really fast, like yesterday. He meets John, they talk all night and boy do they dig each other. John comes into the office and says, ‘Don’t care about the others, don’t give a shit … but I’m having Klein, he can have all of my stuff and get it sorted out.’ John says there is too much fear around, everyone must stop being frightened, everything is going to be fantastic, like Klein is going to be the genie of the lamp. Paul, George and Ringo get to meet Klein and he begins to act as if he is half-hired but maybe not. He says he will save Northern Songs from the wicked Lew Grade. He says he will buy NEMS Enterprises. He says he will take EMI to the cleaners. In the end he doesn’t save Northern Songs and he doesn’t buy NEMS Enterprises, but takes EMI and Capitol to the cleaners and to hell and back… …
It is 1970. Paul still doesn’t like Klein but John digs him more than ever and George digs him more than that and Ringo doesn’t mind him. Paul? He is so uptight about Klein he only leaves the Beatles, that’s all. Klein and me meet the press and TV and all that; together we sit on a sofa and talk about Paul. Mr Klein, why doesn’t Paul like you? Mr Taylor, why doesn’t Paul like Mr Klein? I don’t know, don’t ask me, man, don’t ask me. Paul releases his album and Klein releases the Beatles’ album and they both make a million and Klein has had Phil Spector remix Paul’s song ‘The Long and Winding Road’, adding a women’s choir and some violins etc. Paul thinks this is the shittiest thing anyone has ever done to him and that is saying something, but Klein laughs up his silk sleeve and releases ‘Long and Winding Road’ as a single anyway and still with Phil’s new arrangement. Up there in Scotland, Paul McCartney, one of the four owners of Apple, the company formed to give total freedom, artistic control, to struggling performers and writers, wonders what went wrong, when even he can’t control his own work. I am wondering too. Everyone is wondering. But Klein isn’t wondering. He knows, he knows. …
Money is pouring into Apple so I guess you could say that Allen Klein straightened Apple out as the Beatles wanted it. The only thing is … where is Apple and where are the Beatles? If you find out, please let me know, I haven’t seen them in a long time. The way I see it, Klein is really bringing a whole lot of people down, including me sometimes and I have a deal which keeps me at home writing stuff like this so what am I whining about? Well, being as how I brought Klein to Apple, by making sure the way was clear, I owe someone, somewhere something, that’s for sure. What is it and what have I done? Our Apple is all chewed up. It is the most ungroovy place I ever knew and I have to say it, we have all let it happen, all of us, but me, I told Tony Calder to tell Klein to call and if I am going to make any more mistakes about Allen Klein, then let it be writing this, let it be.

With the Professor's help, they discovered the secret way. But waiting for them was the scheming Prock, who would use almost any means to keep them away from his beloved king. On November 26th 1639 John Spottiswoode (Spottiswood, Spotiswood or Spotswood), Archbishop of St Andrews, Primate of Scotland and historian of Scotland, died.
Born in Mid Calder, the son of another John Spottiswoode who was Rector of the Kirk of Calder and invited John Knox to celebrate the first Protestant communion in the village.
Spottiswoode was educated at the University of Glasgow and married at South Leith in 1589. When King James VI succeeded to the English throne in 1603, he was one of the entourage who accompanied his King to London and two years later was appointed a member of the Privy Council of Scotland
He went on to become Archbishop of Glasgow and then Primate of Scotland and Archbishop of St. Andrews. Spottiswoode lived close to St Andrews at Dairsie Castle, building a church there in 1621. He crowned King Charles I in 1633 at the Palace of Holyrood House, Edinburgh, and was appointed Chancellor of Scotland in 1635.
John Spottiswood was Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church at Perth which had been rigged to ensure acceptance of James VI's unpopular reforms, known as the Articles of Perth, which were intended to unify church practices between Scotland and England under an Episcopal system of church government .
King Charles I appointed himChancellor of Scotland in 1635, but Spottiswoode found himself caught between a monarch intent on introducing an unpopular prayer book, which resulted in the “Jenny Geddes” riots in St. Giles Kirk in Edinburgh. Thus in 1638, while the people signed the National Covenant, Charles dismissed Spottiswoode from the Chancellorship for having failed to enforce the Episcopacy, yet the General Assembly in Glasgow reintroduced Presbyterianism, deposing him as Archbishop and excommunicated him.
He escaped to Newcastle and then London. where he died in London on this day in 1639.
He wrote a "History of the Church of Scotland" which examined the Church from 203AD until the close of the reign of James VI. Spottiswoode dedicated this work to King Charles I, but it was not published until 1655.

Leave Nothing Out
1940
The CO calls them each in by turn in to his office. One after one after one, all about his age, all the newcomers, really. On his turn, Calder looks up, accepts the salute he presents with a nod and then holds out a piece of paper over the desk.
Andrew takes it, looks down to read the orders, only to find it blank. He turns it over, blank on the reverse too.
“Sir?”
“I want you to take that paper, find somewhere quiet, and write a letter to your parents. Do you have a sweetheart?”
“No Sir. And it's only my father.”
Calder nods a little “Write to him then, Foyle. And tell him everything you want to, everything you feel, any thank you's you want to give.” The man's eyes are soft but he tries to smile “Any apologies you might think you owe.” The gaze steadies but is still the kindest he's seen from Calder, “No censorship now, not for this one.”
His eyes drop to the paper, the emptiness sharp now.
This – this is in case I don't come back one day. What do you even say for that?
Protocol brings his head straight up to a parade stifness, his hand to his forehead in the salute. Calder looks at him. “Foyle, remember to put it all down won't you, don't leave anything hiding back in your heart. Let this letter carry it all, just this once.”

UnChained plot
Unwinding was made illegal about 5 months ago, as a result families that tithe are going to Canada to tithe their children. The U.S Government passed a law to make the tithing of tithes legal again.
This both angered the people and made the people happy. Tithes who were finally able to live a life were being round up, may it be by safe houses, parts pirates, your local tithing camp, or The Fellowship.
The Fellowship is a movement made by 2 siblings, Andrew Cooks and Hope Cooks. Both tithes of their family, they kicked AWOL at their harvest camp and gathered the tithes there to escape. Andrew, named as "Reverend," has been mostly stationary in the movement. His other branches of power do the dirty work.
Kayden J. Calder
Carson ComPrix
Hope Cooks
Kayden, the youngest of the 4 at 15, has the most power in the central area of the United States. He has all the Christian tithes in his area.
Carson, the oldest at 19, has the lower portions of the U.S he has parts of Mexico and Hawaii as well. He trains most of the rejected Rewinds and Tithes.
Hope, being 16, she has most of southern Canada with her brother. She has mostly Catholic Tithes.

12 & 13 lololol
12. Any books that disappointed you?
house of open wounds by adrian tchaikovsky, mostly because it was a sequel book in the same world (different part) with one of the same characters that seemed completely uninterested in acknowledging the events or the world or any of the characters of the first book — i suspect in a bid to make it less isolating for new readers but it struck a really strange tone and made it isolating for people who had come from the previous books when these hugely important people and plot beats just weren't mentioned despite multiple opportunities for them to be. just made me miss the world of the first one and i feel it would've been best served by an entirely new protagonist (especially because the protag was my favourite character from the first book and i didn't love what was done with him and his arc in the second. c'est la vie!)
13. What were your least favourite books of the year?
better off dead by lee & andrew child. put the pen down lee. let reacher rest. he's done enough
cobalt blue by matthew reilly, which may be the worst book i've ever read, it was about conflict between russian and american supersoldiers but was just really. i dont know the word. russia-phobic? like really disgusting and intense stereotypes.
the other brother by jax calder which i found in a cool small town bookstore and the marketing leant into it as this taboo romance which seemed SO bold for havelock north, retirement central of aotearoa, but it was just two guys with shared half sisters. anyway it was BAD.

Fairy Names Pt. 2
Fly with you! It’s been a while hasn’t it? Anyway, I’m here for a second part of one of my most popular posts.
The first post listed fairy names that were used in the DS game “Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue” in the create-a-fairy section of the game. While the names provided were feminine, I have pulled all of the masculine fairy names from the original Pixie Hollow game. Some names are repeats from the original post, but I kept them in as I wanted to get this out as soon as possible. I hope you enjoy. Here’s the original post.

WOLF PACK WEEKEND RECAP: APRIL 22nd, 2024
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By: Alex Thomas, Hartford Wolf Pack HARTFORD, CT – The 2023-24 regular season has ended. The Hartford Wolf Pack wrapped up the campaign with three games over the weekend, their final preparation for the upcoming 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs. The Pack are enjoying a well-deserved day off on Monday. On-ice preparation will begin tomorrow for the First Round of the Calder Cup Playoffs. Friday, April 19th, 2024, Vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (3-2 W): The Wolf Pack ended the home portion of their season with a sweep of a three-game homestand on Friday night. Bryan Yoon scored his second goal of the season 17:26 into the second period, burying a rebound after Joel Blomqvist denied a Bobby Trivigno shot from the right-wing circle. Nikolas Brouillard made it 2-0 Wolf Pack 43 seconds into the third period, snapping a shot by Blomqvist's glove for his fifth goal of the season. The Penguins responded with two goals in 39 seconds, stunning the crowd and tying the game 2-2. Jack Rathbone waited out a sliding defender before snapping his ninth goal of the season by Louis Domingue at 7:58, making it a 2-1 game. Thirty-nine seconds later, at 8:37, Austin Rueschhoff poked home a rebound for his 15th season goal to tie the game 2-2. The Penguins got into penalty trouble late, however, taking slashing minors at 12:04 and 12:59. 16th July 1588 saw the death of Agnes Keith Countess of Moray.
Agnes was a noblewoman the eldest daughter of William Keith, 4th Earl Marischal and Margaret Keith, born in Dunnottar Castle, about 1540. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Keith, Master of Marischal, and Lady Elizabeth Douglas, and her maternal grandparents were Sir Wiliam Keith and Janet Gray. Agnes was a descendant of King James I of Scotland and his consort Joan Beaufort, the subject of a post yesterday, who was in her turn the great-granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
She had two brothers, William Keith, Master of Marischal , and Robert Keith, 1st Lord Altrie and six younger sisters. These were Elizabeth, wife of Sir Alexander Irvine of Drum; Alison, wife of Alexander, Lord Salton; Mary, wife of Sir John Campbell of Calder; Beatrice, wife of John Allardice of Allardice; Janet, wife of James Crichton of Frendraght; and Margaret, wife of Sir John Kennedy of Balquhan. Her aunt was Elizabeth Keith, wife of George Gordon, 4th Earl of Huntly who would lead an unsuccessful rebellion against Mary, Queen of Scots in 1562. Her first cousin was Lady Jean Gordon, the first wife of James Hepburn, Earl of Bothwell, who himself would become the third husband of Mary, Queen of Scots. Agnes's father was a member of Queen Mary's Privy Council; he had fought at the Battle of Pinkie when she was about seven years old. He died in 1581. You can see I’m filling this post out a bit, but I am just showing that the Marischal's had connections far and wide with their fingers in a lot of pies.
At St. Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh or at Holyrood on 8 February 1561/2, Agnes was married to James Stewart, the illegitimate half-brother and chief adviser of Mary, Queen of Scots, who had been created Earl of Mar the previous day. The ceremony was magnificent, attended by many of the nobility, with John Knox having preached the sermon. The lavish wedding was followed by three days of festivities and banqueting at Holyrood Palace, the “frivolity” of which was subsequently denounced by Knox with the words: "the vanity used thereat offended many godly".
Queen Mary made much of the new Lady Mar and regarded her as a close member of her family. Having been well-educated, Agnes was described by author Antonia Fraser as having had "genuine intelligence and spirit". Keith M. Brown, Professor of Scottish History at the University of St. Andrews, called her "clever, acquisitive and steely". It was recorded that in August 1566 following the birth of Prince James, the future King James VI of Scotland, Agnes was one of the ladies with whom the queen kept the most company. In early February 1567, Agnes suffered a miscarriage, which provided her husband with an excuse to hastily depart from Edinburgh; thus he was away when Lord Darnley was murdered at Kirk O'Field.
Mary was deposed by the Confederate Lords at the battle of Carberry Hill, while Moray was still in France. Mary was taken in custody to Lochleven Castle. Although the Lords would not forward Moray's letters to Mary, Agnes stayed with the Queen and her mother-in-law at Lochleven in July 1567. The English ambassador in Edinburgh Nicholas Throckmorton heard there was "grete sorowe betwixt the Queen and her at theyre meeting and much gretter at theyre departing." Soon after on 24 July 1567, Mary was forced to abdicate.
Moray was proclaimed Regent of Scotland for the infant King James VI on 22 August 1567. While her husband held the regency, Agnes was the most powerful woman in Scotland. She was a very intelligent and intimidating politician, and many people were afraid of incurring her wrath.
In May 1568, before the Battle of Langside, she coldly informed her frightened cousin, George Gordon, 5th Earl of Huntly, "ye haf mad me angary". Huntly had indicated that he would support Mary rather than Regent Moray, so even though she had been close to the Queen , her loyalties lay with her husband.
Moray was assassinated at Linlithgow in January 1570, Agnes was pregnant at the time of her husband's murder and delivered a daughter, Margaret, shortly afterwards. She spent the two years following his assassination managing the family estates and fighting a series of legal battles in which she sought to obtain financial compensation for the time he acted as regent.
While Agnes was at Dunnotar, her mother-in-law, Margaret Erskine, looked after her second eldest daughter, Annabell at the New House of Lochleven Castle. Although Annabell was described as 'merry and very lusty' by Agnes' secretary John Wood in April 1570, some months later Margaret had to write to the widowed Countess of Moray describing her death. She told Agnes that, 'God sall send your Ladyschip barnis efter this, for ye ar young aneuch.'
Sometime between January 1571 and February 1572 Agnes married another powerful man, Sir Colin Campbell, heir presumptive to the earldom of Argyll. When he succeeded his brother as the 6th earl in 1573, Agnes was henceforth styled Countess of Argyll. During her second marriage, Agnes became embroiled in a litigation over Queen Mary's jewels which had earlier fallen into her keeping. It
Mary, had written to Agnes from Tutbury Castle soon after Moray's assassination on 28 March 1570 regarding these jewels. Mary wanted them sent to her in England including a piece made up of diamonds and rubies called the "H". This was the "Great Harry", a diamond given to Mary on the occasion of her first marriage by her father-in-law, King Henry II of France. The Earl of Huntly asked for the jewels on Mary's behalf on 1 November 1570, and Mary herself wrote again for them on 27th January 1571. However, the Regent Lennox had also asked for them on 13th September 1570. Facing a dilemma between handing the jewels over to Mary or the Scottish government, (knowing also that Moray had sold some of the crown jewels to Elizabeth I to fund the civil war), Agnes chose to hang onto the jewels.
It was Agnes' desire to hold onto these valuable jewels which provoked a feud between her second husband and the Regent Morton, who demanded their return on behalf of King James VI of Scotland, threatening the couple with arrest if they failed to deliver the jewels which he insisted belonged to the Scottish Crown. Agnes argued that she retained the jewels as a pledge for the debts owed to her for the expenses that the Earl of Moray had laid out as Regent. When Agnes and her husband failed to hand them over, they were both "put to the horn" (declared rebels) on 3 February 1574. Agnes appealed to the Scottish Parliament, and wrote several articulate, formal letters to Queen Elizabeth requesting her intervention which would permit Agnes to retain the jewels. These letters were considered by Francis Walsingham in September 1574.
The lengthy inquiry and litigation with Regent Morton over the custody of the precious stones, ended on 5th March 1575, when the earl, in his own name and that of Agnes, surrendered them to Morton. The Earl of Argyll would later be partly responsible for Regent Morton's fall from power and loss of the Regency in 1578. ...
Agnes died on 16th July 1588 in Edinburgh and was buried in St. Giles Cathedral inside the tomb of her first husband as seen in pic two.
