#And the Tartaros arc

Brainstorming on the Tartaros Arc rn for The Dragon Father rewrite, and you see, I'm torn. So, to fix this problem, I'm going to word vomit here and see if anyone has an opinion

For those who've forgotten or don't know, the Tartaros Arc in Fairy Tail is the arc, at least for me, where shit goes down and does not come back up. I've always viewed it as the coming-of-age arc, every single main character has a moment where they are forced to lose something representing their childhood or innocence.

AND in what I would call the midpoint of the Tartaros arc, while everyone is fighting up in the cube (to rescue Erza/stop FACE/sweet revenge/all that jazz) Mard Geer casts the curse "Alegria" which turns the floating Minecraft block into Plutogrim (who may or may not be a demon/sentient entity). ANYWAY -

Turning a Minecraft block into a sentient being also makes the cube's weird immune system come into play. It traps everyone in this fleshy eldritch-horror goop that suspends them in a timeless state. Everyone except Lucy - but that's for later.

Now! I have two very compelling options for how Acnologia is thrown into this and they sort of shift the story I'd have to tell.

Option 1 - Acnologia is not present at the cube at this time, he's flown off to go help destroy Face (which matches up with the timeline because this curse happens right around Wendy's dragon force reveal in canon). This could be paired with a cool Wendy-Acno bonding experience, maybe a little dragon force action, idk -

Pros:

I don't have to try to balance Acnologia's insane power level for the 17,000th time

I set it up pretty early that Acnologia is SO goddamn ready to take Face out. This could be the payout

He could sense shit goes down when the Celestial King gets summoned because he's that guy

A very cute father-daughter moment with him and Wendy as he finds out that she already started destroy face before he got there and has unlocked her Dragon Force. Little flying bonding moment ya know?

Cons:

The majority of the story is written from Acnologia's perspective so I would either have to completely ignore everything happening over there (which IS technically already explained it canon, kind of) or would switch to Lucy's POV

Acnologia can destroy Face in like 3 minutes, cause he's that guy, so we're back to square one with wtf am I supposed to do with this guy's power level

Option 2 - Acnologia IS present, and gets caught in the goop, which limits his transformation and magic.

Now, Option 2 has two fun subcategories I've lovingly named "Acnologia kicks ass" and "Acnologia is very upset he cannot kick ass"

Acnologia kicks ass - The Dragon King does not need magic or his dragon form to pummel the absolute shit out of Mard-Geer. It's time for Regular Human Acnologia to shine for a whole 500 words and 300 punches.

Acnologia is very upset he cannot kick ass - he gets stuck in his Dragon form (possible trauma~) and is so completely normal about it that he uses his wings to crash Plutogrim into the dirt because Gods Help him if he is trapped in Dragon Form he will make it everyone else' problems.

Pros:

Hilarious inner monologue as Acnologia is trapped and fed up with this shit

Mard Geer gets insanely humbled real fast

Acnologia gets to witness Lucy summon the Celestial Spirit King, which could lead to him acknowledging her as Anna's successor (not that this is a huge divide between them but could be a cool moment)

Cons:

Power scaling. Always the fucking power scaling. How do I justify trapping the literal Dragon King without nerfing him into the ground? I can buff Plutogrim, make it a demon with ethernanos capabilities backed into its flesh which is why if you get caught you can't expend any magic to escape - but even THEN like - This is ACNOLOGIA, the boy's CRACKED

It takes the spotlight away from Lucy's moment and Aquarius' sacrifice - but gives Lucy someone who understands the significance of what happened to her.

Anyway, that's where my brain's at rn for The Dragon Father. And no, I'm not writing the Tartaros arc at the moment - I haven't even gotten to the Tower of Heaven arc, but like I gotta start brainstorming ya know??

The Tartaros Arc was already regarded as one of the best arcs in Fairy Tail, but now with this revelation in the latest chapter of 100 Years Quest, it really tips the balance in a huge way with Earthland Faris revealing a huge twist in the narrative!!

One that ties all the way back to Igneel vs Acnologia's end result!

we're still crying over the year post tartaros so here to think about how lucy literally couldn't go ANYWHERE by herself without her team showing up behind her.

like in the anime before phantom started, its implied lucy tried going on a solo job only for everyone to crash along. sure, you say, this was them becoming a team.

then she went to go confront her dad, her team shows up behind her, frantic. and like yes, they thought she left the guild, whatever.

but then she goes to acalypha without telling them, like they just see her there one minute and the next she's gone. and they STILL go running after her. like it took them a full day to track her down but they still did it.

lucy literally couldn't go out of magnolia by herself without her friends tagging along. and then suddenly, they've had their worst fight yet, she lost her oldest friend, and everyone's left in small groups, except for her. she's alone

Back on my NaLu BS

A little snippet of a fic, but I needed a pallet cleanser from how hard I've been working to finish my long fic and nalu has been plaguing me especially this week, so enjoy a sleepy nalu fic

Natsu stalked across the dark city, a clear destination in mind.

It was late—so late, not a single soul could be found walking the quiet city. Even the streetlights and half-moon high in the sky provided little light between the dark buildings as he stalked through streets and alleyways.

Natsu wasn’t sure why he needed to leave the house. He even left Happy behind in his need to go, leaving the blue cat to snore peacefully on their little cot. He didn’t even grab any clothes, marching through the city with nothing but his sleep shorts on.

It was just—Natsu couldn’t sleep. He was tired, and Happy’s snoring and mumbling usually helped Natsu doze off easily, but tonight was different. Every time Natsu closed his eyes, he thought of golden hair and brown eyes. He thought of a warm scent of vanilla and roses and something else that Natsu couldn’t explain except that it was completely Lucy. He waited and waited to fall asleep, but after a few hours of tossing and turning, Natsu couldn’t ignore the itch at the back of his mind that needed to see her.

So, there he was, following the instinct to find her in the dead of night until he was looking up at her apartment. If he woke her, she would yell at him and throw something, so he had to be careful.

He jumped up to her window, easing it open slowly.

There she was. She was tucked deep within her blankets, top of her head just barely peeking out, but he could smell her calm scent and hear the steady beat of her heart.

Natsu didn’t know what he was doing. He didn’t want to leave, even after checking in on her. Would she be really mad if he stayed? He didn’t actually want her to be mad, but it was hard to ignore the instinct that wanted him to stay.

A breeze blew in and Lucy shivered, even under all her blankets.

Natsu was inside closing the window before he knew it. Well, he was already inside. He might as well stay and deal with the consequences tomorrow.

He crawled into bed with Lucy, easing the blanket open to slip next to her warm body. At least she was wearing something this time—Natsu paused with the blanket in his hand, taking in the too big white button down that hung off her shoulders and bunched around her waist, completely covered in his scent.

He didn’t know why he paused on it. Lucy wore his clothes sometimes. Lucy wore no clothes sometimes. Why was it weird that she wore his shirt to bed?

She already had traces of his scent—they spent too much time not to have their scents muddled together at this point. Her apartment especially spelled just as much like him as it did her. So why did this shirt make him feel so strange?

Lucy made a noise in her sleep, shifting onto her side so she was facing him, arms somehow finding him and pulling him closer to her.

“What am I, a pillow,” her mumbled to himself, forgetting the strange feeling the shirt brought out and instead focused on the warmth of Lucy’s skin pressed against his and the calming intermingling of their scents. He closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

Lucy woke slowly, warm and groggy and ready to fall back asleep no matter what the bright stream of sunlight beaming in through her curtains had to say.

“Hmm…” A deep voice hummed, and Lucy jumped out of her skin, snapping her eyes open to someone lying next to her.

It took a moment for her sleepy brain to understand, but it came to her slowly. The blankets had been kicked to the bottom of her bed at some point, probably because a salamander snuck into her bed and overheated her. At some point, Lucy had climbed half on top of him, pressing her front against his as she used him as a pillow and likely a source of heat.

Lucy… didn’t know how to react. She usually got annoyed or embarrassed when Natsu broke into her apartment, but she couldn’t deny in her sleepy state that she slept much better last night than she did in the past year.

Ever since Aquarius... Lucy just couldn't get to sleep, and even when she did, she couldn't stay asleep. Nightmares of losing her friend and her guild plagued her until she forced herself to give up on sleeping.

Natsu grumbled again in his sleep, arms coming around her waist just as he rolled onto his side, taking her with him so that they lied facing each other. Lucy blinked sleepily at his face, completely relaxed and breathing so deeply that Lucy couldn’t bring herself to wake him.

“I’ll yell at you later,” she whispered, tucking herself back into him and letting her eyes droop shut, just missing Natsu’s eyes slitting open. She fell asleep quickly, and Natsu tightened his arms around her and rested his head against hers before falling back asleep himself.

okay, where the fuck did mest go???

i've been keeping up with 100yq because fuck it, why not, and i'm just so confused as to why he's just gone.

he got a chapter cover, but like... so did toby. it's not an achievement. (i love you toby but i must use a scapegoat) he's an important character to the plot of the original fairy tail. why is he not there??? he's not in the background of any scenes. he doesn't have any throwaway lines. he's just gone. evicted from the guild. it's like mashima and ueda forgot one of their pivotal characters existed, all because fans don't like him. i miss him.

i do think ft has so much strength in terms of ensemble cast i just wish each cast member was given the respect and credit they deserve from the audience and in the narrative as well.

like cana does simply incredible things and gets little recognition for it because most of the time she is a walking bit about alcoholism.

Fairy Tail Discussion: END'S POTENTIAL RETURN IN 100 YEARS QUEST!!

E.N.D was one of the most talked about characters within the Fandom because He was essentially revealed to be the main character Natsu Dragneel specifically Etherious Natsu Dragneel at the end of The Tartaros Arc. One in which had so much build up in the original series that ultimately felt like an afterthought towards the end. That is until Fairy Tail:100 Years Quest Manga came out and we had gotten to a sign that almost resembled what Natsu looked like as E.N.D when he was given Ignia's flame in the Water Dragon God arc. Before things got any worse it was thanks to Lucy who prevented the situation from getting any worse. At the same time, it also led to many people in the fandom to speculate about E.N.D's potential return in the series more so in the latest arc.
