When Uea is in the bathroom (normally his place of darkness, trauma) and Him looking at himself in the mirror and then when KING joins him in the bathroom and the colour changes 👀

I need some detailed insight pleaseeeeeeeee

In this tiny corner of Tumblr, I must appreciate King every day, so let me point out how IN LOVE* he is with with his Red Rascal, Uea, because King is drenched in red this episode, once again.

*If the show tries to tell me that King has NOT been in love with King for a long time, I will refuse to accept it. REFUSE!

Now that I have properly acknowledged how much King is in love with Uea, I shall examine this ask:

Light and Reflections in Bed Friend

TW: physical, emotional, and sexual abuse

As you mentioned, the lighting and colors change when King is around Uea. The best example of this in the third episode was cut from the YouTube and Gaga version.

Uea silently observes King smoking a cigarette out on the balcony after having sex. Uea normally retreats to a dark place (the bathroom) after sex, but here, we see him emerge from the darkness into the light, and he stands in the light for a bit.

The other interesting element of this scene is the way in which Uea is framed looking at King.

We saw a similar framing in the second episode.

Both times, we see King in reality, but a reflection of Uea. We also have two barriers between them: the bar(s) that separate their sides, and the doors themselves. Yet the doors are glass, and as Uea watches King smoke, one of the doors is open. There is a divide between them coming from Uea, but as Uea finds his way out of the dark, the barriers will be open, and the horizontal line connects them. Note that King is good at keeping them on the same side. He opens doors, rolls down windows, and locks doors so they are together with no means of a barrier. He doesn't leave room for barriers to exist.

But about the reflections...

Mirrors symbolize truth. The times we have fully seen King's reflection, we are told through the mirror that he cares for Uea.

When he is asking Uea questions in his car, when he is searching for Uea, and when he asks Uea if he is okay, we see his worried-and-in-love face in his reflection. Note that King is never looking at himself in these reflections but at or for Uea. But Uea's reflection is cold in the mirror.

The very first scene in episode one is Uea in his brown bathroom. He looks content.

After his night with King though, this is Uea in his brown bathroom.

The bathroom is now blue, and Uea doesn't look at himself in the mirror. We know the bathroom is a place of punishment to Uea for being a slut, and the mirror is prominent there.

In between these scenes, we get these moments.

Uea looks at himself when he is out with his coworkers and his mom keeps calling. Immediately after, he begins to drink heavily. He stops at the window while drunk, but King literally picks him up and takes him to the car. Then, the Windex promo during his night with King. But note that as the night progresses (with King), the lighting gets brighter and warmer.

When episode three picks up, it is immediately after episode two when Uea threw his shirt at King and went to the bathroom to take a shower.

At first, Uea looks down, but as he imagines King touching him, he looks at his reflection. And just like Alan in Moonlight Chicken, Uea gets a glow up as the blue dissolves from the scene.

Uea is staring at his reflection, once more, when King walks out of the shower and makes Uea focus on him.

Because that's what King does best. He helps Uea see himself as King sees him - attractive, desirable, and worthy of love. When Uea looks at his reflection, he doesn't see himself. He sees a slut. He sees the physical and emotional abused child. He sees the sexually abused child. He doesn't see the man he has become.

But he is starting to see the man who stays - King. He hates what he sees, but within that reflection, King continues to show up as a fully realized person.

Uea is looking through himself rather than at himself, if he looks at all, but King makes him focus on the present rather than the past, so the blues disappear. King is the blue that is touching Uea now. Very Win x Team of them.

Look at all the pictures included above - Uea is always looking beyond while King only looks at Uea. Even when they fall asleep on their phones, Uea's phone has him reflected back while King's only has Uea.

*And their COLORS! Uea is placed in his red on King's bed, and King is placed in his blue on Uea's bad. They have always slept comfortably in each other's color, which is why they are such good bed friends.

King is forcing Uea to confront himself. He is forcing Uea to step out into the light. He is forcing Uea to see himself the way King sees him, not as transparent being haunted by the ghosts of his past, but as a man who deserves the love King is giving him.

They are going to be the death of me.

And by they, I mean King and Uea and not the colors, lighting, and other visual elements that are reinforcing the narrative every damn scene.

lived my whole life in guilt bc i thought i was responsible for people's feelings. newly realizing that other people are responsible for their feelings and reactions, even if they make it seem like i'm the problem. a lot of the time it really has to do w them and their own emotional regulation. i can't keep thinking i'm not allowed to have space bc of other people's insecurities. like i literally refuse to dim myself. other people are responsible for their feelings just as i'm responsible for mine.

i know it’s like years old at this point but i love that one collab mumbo and grian did with tommyinnit bc it’s like the single most concentrated example i’ve seen of mumbo’s Chaos Nullification Powers

you get to see a bit of it on hermitcraft, mostly via his interactions with grian, but until seeing that collab it didn’t really hit me just how completely mumbo can no-sell other people’s attempts to control a situation. tommyinnit is possibly the single shoutiest, most chaotic minecraft youtuber out there, and in most videos i’ve seen he pretty much overwhelms everyone else and sets the tone for interactions because of this. but mumbo just. doesn’t let him. no matter how much tommy escalates in intensity, mumbo reacts with *exactly* the same energy he always does. grian largely comes across in the whole video as annoyed and reluctant to engage with the whole thing, but mumbo’s not even affected. he just rolls with anything he finds funny and basically ignores anything he disapproves of, only seeming more and more unflappable the harder anyone tries to get a rise out of him.

AND imo, this is the key to my favorite interpretation of him as a character

see, when the people around him are being more reasonable/calm, i think mumbo often comes across as anxious and a bit easily overwhelmed. the thing is, his nervous wet cat vibes do not scale. he has one setting. his responses to the last life ‘ah-ha!’ jokes and to hermitcraft 8 starting to crumble to pieces under a falling moon are almost identical.

mumbo jumbo is inexorably and eternally Just Some Guy, but that gets stranger and stranger the weirder his surroundings become. the giggly incredulousness that makes him an easy target for goofy puns looks Very different when it’s also his reaction to the impending end of the world.

This AMAZING piece was done by Kemmuono again. I loved their art so much and had to get another piece that was rattling around in my head. We were all listening to Chappel Roan's new album together and Kaynen (the lab) and I had a mischievous idea once we heard the lyrics. I gave the artist a bit of a headache since I wanted so many details but it came out AMAZINGLY. Even included my necklaces! Truly an incredible artist. I know some dickheads have now decided that Judaism is the "bad, violent, terrorist religion" and Islam is the "good, peaceful" one, which is only to be expected of white people, but how much of an issue is it currently? Like I've seen some USAmericans sharing how the Islamic faith shapes Gazans values and perseverance (good) except with that distinct white hippie "I'm about to imprint on this like the world's most racist duck" vibe (bad), but I didn't think they're already turning on Judaism in numbers.

Do they realize that Christianity is also the same kind of comfort to Christian minorities in Asia and Africa? That it was Buddhists that genocided the Rohingyas in Myanmar and Tamils in Sri Lanka? That Hindu fundamentalists are even now trying to ethnically cleanse Muslims in India? How Hindus and Christians are terrorized and persecuted in Pakistan? That Muslims have a history of persecuting and ethnically cleansing Jews too?

Really tired of asking y'all to be normal about people's religions man. There's no religion that's inherently violent or exceptionally peaceful. It's just like any other ideology that becomes a weapon in the hands of ethnic power. Interrogate power, not religion, and respect people's belief systems insofar as they aren't in your business.

Edit: I've amended the "long history" of Muslim persecution of Jews because it might be misleading in the current political climate. Zionism and antisemitic Arab nationalism are twin births resulting directly from Christian colonization, and Islamic empires tended to actually be more tolerant of other religions compared to Christianity, especially Judaism, which was considered a sibling religion. Antisemitism wasn't ideologically entrenched in Islamic tradition. It's simply that ethno-religious power will lead to ethno religious domination and intermittent cleansing of minorities, and Islam is no exception. Humans be humaning always.

Okay but it's super interesting how

Din = Power = Ganondorf

Naryu = Wisdom = Zelda

Farore = Courage = Link.

Because Din, in the hylian creation myth, created the physical world. Naryu then created the laws - gravity, time, etc. And Farore finally created life - plants and people.

Din created the body, naryu the mind, Farore the soul.

And the triforce and its wielders so perfectly reflect that.

Ganon is physical power, he is big and intimidating and he breaks things. He is cunning and determined, but that's not what he focuses on. He is might makes right.

Zelda is wisdom and cleverness. She is stall tactics and information and team work. She is a powerful mage with a spine of steel, but that's not how she'll win. She is the pen being mightier than the sword.

Link is courage and persistence. He is the wild card sneaking behind enemy ranks, always moving, plunging into terrifying situations head first. He's a phenomenal fighter with a keen wit, but that's not what will get him through his challenges. He is bravery not being the absence of fear but the triumph over it.

They sit in perfect parallels to each other.

And ganon is reborn through his body - his resurrection is immortality. No matter how low he is cast, as long as he has a body he can claw his way back. He can cling to his power, build it ever higher.

Zelda is reborn through the magic of her bloodline. It's the accumulated knowledge handed down for generations, the unique power she must master, the skills she must develop to survive and get her kingdom out the other side intact. Even her name, the knowledge of herself, is handed down from all the way from the very first. Her ancestors knowledge of her future presence, her stability, is what gives her the edge.

Link is reborn in spirit. He is not bound by flesh or blood. Just like his wanderlust soul he can reappear in any time or place. His variation, his unpredictability, is exactly how he fights. It's what makes him so hard to pin down.

Ganons need to build strength means he can't chase after link. Links impulsiveness means zelda can outwit him. Zeldas stationary predictability means she's an easy target for ganon.

But the other direction?

Fire melts ice, ice redirects lightning, lightning burns fire.

And that's the very essence of the triforce.
