I hope you are ready for some full-on weird content. I have been looking around and analyzing the Commercials video, which i have mentioned a little here and there. My go to at this point is to look for hidden or otherwise obscured stuff in the video. I found something. I hope you guys can see it, and it isn't just me (how thematically relevant).

This is the moment when the line "Eddie Dear was happy" starts repeating and his eyes snap open. If you really look, you can see Eddie's arm with his watch. I have been unable to get more detail out of the area to the left of that, but the left side is from a still used in one of the record ads.

You can see the tree on the left and the igloo looking shape.

In the very middle, you can see a black line, and I want to say it is Frank's collar, but honestly I have nothing to go on there.

When i was messing around with these, i thought I saw a hand curled, palm up on the ground in the front. However, I closed that one and haven't been able to duplicate it.

I have looked and looked for a drawing of Eddie as he is here: short sleeves in a white shirt. Arm at his side, wearing his watch. I thought initially it might be one of the husbands in white drawings, but he isn't wearing his watch in that one. I also went to look at "you'll be ok" drawing but it was very different and no watch. There might be something relevant on Clown's ko-fi.

Another thing I noticed is the chair shape on the left. It looks like the top of a dining chair from the 80's. And we have seen this chair at least one other time:

The chair at Wally's and in the flash to the giant toy place are different chairs (if this is a chair, i could be convinced it is a rocking horse). Oh, possibly one more:

This shape has been making me crazy since the update. You can see that same shape on the left, which resembles a chair or a throne. The main clump has shapes that look like antlers, but I think they are hands. Could this be a missing puppet? We just see the puppeteer's hands? The shape is so complex and I have had no luck manipulating it to make it more visible or understandable.

Eddie is a live hand puppet. Could those be his hands?

So, i had been thinking that Eddie realizes that the group is on to him, whether that is his relationship with Frank or him sneaking stuff out (I was thinking the latter). In this video there is a lot of layered sound and layered video, slow fades and very low lighting. The more I look at it, the more I think that I am overreacting to layered things and reusing props. I'd be interested to hear what people think.

Why a chair? What does Eddie remember that makes him freak out? I think Eddie remembers the times he has died or been killed. Or that there are multiple versions of him, with the focus on the pea on the plate perhaps making him think about multiples? FINER THAN A FROG'S HAIR SPLIT FOUR WAYS! Are there 4 Eddies? That is what he says right before the realization.

2 Days Since Echoes of Wisdom Release. I return with more info about my play through. Again, I haven't done more than the first rift and shown up in Gerudo town.

I finally get to the King and Hello???? Minister Lefte and General Wright. Nintendo gtfo. You didn't make their names Left and Right. That's so stupid. I kinda love it.

The way I gasped. I was like wait a minute hold on. I was prepared for puppet Link, nOt puppet anyone who falls in the rift. That's terrifying. Who's real and who's a fake... Tri makes an imposter joke btw. Says something like hmm imposters...that's a funny word. Nintendo couldn't resist the a little among us reference.

I love the way Tri sounds. The little sighs and trills. Also the text effect is sick. I love that they made it all wavy and glowy. It immediately draws your eye.

Oh y'all just have a goddess statue in the basement. Cool. Cool. Also tell me why the horse statue immediately made me think of that one park in Botw/Totk. Nintendo has Zelda change her clothes behind the statue too. Unsubtle.

Is that about the dress or the cloak Zelda. Are you saying Link's cloak smells like a musty dresser (┬┬﹏┬┬). Anyway, she looks cute. First outfit change (i haven't gotten anymore, yet). Impa kicked ass. She's cool as usual.

I FOUND LINK'S HOUSE. It's totally his house. Look at the hat on his bed and the green sheets with the triangle. He left in a hurry cause he didn't even make his bed. I love that he has a stuffed Kaepora. Plus he has what looks like magic potion bottles or olive oil, who knows. I also think it's interesting that there's a cobweb in the corner. He hasn't been back in some time or else didn't have time to clean. Makes sense. I broke his pots for him. He would've wanted me too.

Ok. That's it for today. I leave off with analyzing Link's house. It's really fun to me that we're getting to discover things about this version of Link along with Zelda. There was particular bit of information that had me screaming with joy. But I'll get to that another day.

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a good December! These were my contributions to the @welcomehomefanzine winter zine! I managed to do more art this time too! For my contributions I wanted to draw art on various Winter traditions from different cultures, such as also my own! If you decide to colour in any of these, please @ me!!

I wrote more on all the artworks under the cut! Including the traditions they were based on!

First one was a little visual pun on the first verse of '12 Days of Christmas', Poppy is the partridge in the pear tree! Not much to say about this one, it's my only Christmas related thing! Second one was based on the Southern Welsh winter tradition of the Mari Lwyd. The Mari Lwyd is a hobby horse made from a horse's skull and is then decorated. It is puppeteered to go to the doors of various houses where its handlers will sing verses on letting it in to the home, you are supposed to sing back excuses on why you can't let it in, and if you relent, you invite the Mari Lwyd and its handlers in your home, where it will eat your food and alcohol and terrorise your children! The tradition and its true origins and meaning and even etymology is unknown, but it's thought to have ancient Pagan roots! It seems here, Eddie relented in his songs to it and regretted everything immediately after!

Third image is another Poppy centric piece because I love her. Here she is dressed up as a figure from Schnabelperchten! This is a tradition seen only in Rauris Valley in Austria and is a manifestation of Perchta, a goddess from Alpine Paganism that took the form of a old woman who'd punish misbehaving children by slitting their bellies. For Schnabelperchten, on the 5th of January, figures dressed in smocks, jackets, and a beak-like mask will visit various homes to check their upkeep and cleanliness all while emitting a soft 'ga ga ga', in more ancient versions of the legend, if you did not keep your living quarters in good enough conditions, the Schnabelperchten would slit open your belly and dump all the rubbish inside! Poppy would never do that though! No one tell her about that part!! Last but not least is one based on a tradition from my culture! Here you see the entire neighbourhood celebrating Yalda Night and spending time with one anotherThis is a Persian/Iranian festival with Zoroastrian roots held on the Winter Solstice. This day was traditionally seen as ill omened as being the darkest day of the year, the forces of Ahriman and his Deevs were most active, and so much of the day entailed family and friends getting together in good company. They would read stories and poems (especially the Shahnameh or poems by Hafez) with nuts and various fruits from previous harvests being served, watermelon and pomegranates being the most prominent! It was also encouraged to stay well up after midnight lest misfortune befall you! Due to it also being the longest night, it was also seen as the birthdate of the sun deity Mehr (or Mithra), as the subsequent days would get longer.

This was all fun to do and I hope I did all these traditons justice!! I am most likely missing out a lot on my explanations for them, so I hope I at least peaked your interest in these different Winter festivities enough to look into them on your own!

Oooh okay okay, permission to be a little petty? This has been eating me up for a minute! On the topic of the helluva/hazbin redesigns: there are a lot of times in the critical side of this fandom where I’ll see people talking about what they would “fix” about the character designs, and like you said- some of the specifics people think they need to fix just…undermine the point of the character?? (I.e making Stolas big and burly) But it also feels like they’re ignoring that these characters look the way they do because they have to be ANIMATED. There’s been a handful of times I’ve seen people with that “fix it” attitude where they just waaaaay over complicate textures and shapes then say it’s so much better. For example some were saying Blitz’s design was bad because you can’t tell his burn scars were burn scars because the edges were too round. So they completely rendered the scars in their redesign and said they fixed it. I absolutely understand wanting to make detailed artwork. I LOVE detailing the hell out of a character in a drawing!! But to animate?? Especially with helluva where the spindle horse team doesn’t often outsource its animation?? I KNOW it’s silly but sometimes in passing I want to be like- ok. YOU animate your incredibly complicated redesign for a 20 minute animation at 24 frames per second. Then you get to handle the budget you’d need to get it finished and add in lighting/effects/etc. Then you ALSO get to handle the complaints from people who say episodes take too long to come out. Animation is a HUUUGE process! I feel like the work it takes to make it look so good is really taken for granted :,)

I mean, I will always defend CGI animation (I'm a firm believer all animation mediums are beautiful and valid), but I feel like it's spoiled people in how detailed a character's design can be. While part of the charm of 2D animation is how simplified lines can still get so much across.

It's been more than a decade since I studied animation and we only really did puppet animation, but even with that I quickly realized my designs could never be as detailed as when I just made a stand alone drawing (also, rip to my old animations that are lost to time, because my hard drive died a few years back...)

I'd honestly argue that for 2D animation standards the designs are really detailed. Maybe not for every character, but that's part of the beauty of it. Just like how in real life not all people dress all fancy and complicated, some people prefer simpler outfits, and they know how to make that come across in the character designs.

Especially Blitz is a prime example of being tailor made for 2D animation, that's also part of why some of the best facial expressions come from him, they know how to play around with his face shape. Regarding the scars, it's not just a 2D thing, it's the fact that imps scar differently than humans. So, again haters claiming they "fixed it" by completely ignoring lore.

Ok so, I feel like there’s so much opportunity for mizu x reader content since mizu goes to London with Fowler at the end of the series. Imagine mizu x !violinist! Reader. Mizu goes to an orchestra performance and reader has a lead part (I imagine either overture from phantom of the opera, winter by Antonio Vivaldi because I’m biased) but yeah do with that what you will!

Reader is a talented street performer, and their playing for tips and drawing up a big crowd, until the police come in and everyone scatters. But later mizu follows them and introduces herself to them! (I also imagine reader could be disguising herself as a boy in this one but either way works!)

mizu tapped her foot against the ground, glancing around. the streets of england were rather… serene, unlike the streets of japan. they were always bustling, lit up and full of people.

it was rather a nice change of pace; even if she was here to assassinante a man.

than a bustle of people fluttered by her; her eyes trained on one rather pretty woman. a woman wearing a bustling dress; draped with frills. it was unlike anything she’d ever seen; she’d gotten used to the flower painted kimono’s of japan.

you gazed back at her for a moment, giving her a smile. than you turned forward again, getting on with your performance. you seemed to be acting out some play.. a play about two lovers, it seemed. she had no clue about english culture, so she watched you with interest. 

you looked to have the leading role of of someone named “juliet”. peculiar name, but she kept any and all thoughts about this show to herself. usually it was puppet shows back in japan; so seeing real people acting out the play was interesting. 

galloping was coming closer. mizu whipped her head to the side, seeing three large, white horses galloping down the street. they were carrying english guns in their hands, and large hats atop of their heads.

and as they were coming closer, the performers began to scatter.

her eyes widened, being pushed and prodded through all the clatter. she watched as you scampered off into an alleyway.

her instinct was to follow you.

and she was taught to trust her instinct.

so, she steadily walked down the alleyway after you, seeing that you were bleeding through your cheek. maybe she could help you—she carried some herbs with her.

“w-who—“ you stammered through your accent—which, she found rather cute—gazing up at her. you didn’t seem to realize that she wasn’t from around here. “—are you?”

“.. mizu,” she introduced, offering her hand to help you from the ground.

you glanced at her again. you didn’t look like you wanted to trust her.

but you did, placing that delicate hand of yours in hers.

she tugged you to your feet. you seemed to be waiting for something, twitching your hand. she looked at you, raising an eyebrow.

“.. kiss my hand?” you cocked your head. that seemed to be when you realize she wasn’t from here. “it’s custom, here in england. It’s how men greet a lady.”

right. right, she was a guy, to everyone else.

she lifted your hand, kissing your knuckles. she didn’t want you to think she disrespected you, or your culture. so she did as asked.

“and where are you from, hm?” you pull your hand back.

“.. japan,” she whispered the word as if it were a bad one.

“I see,” you nod your head. “yet your eyes—they are blue, such as ours.”

“my—father, he was a white man,” she explained.

you nod again, “understood.” you give her a small little smile.

“and why were they after you?” she cocks her head, it was something she didn’t quite understand. had you done something wrong that these officers were after you? It didn’t look like it, you were just performing.

“ah.. women, such as myself, are not allowed to perform—plus, it is not legal for us to perform unlicensed plays,” you explained yourself, rubbing the cut on your cheek. “If I hadn’t ran I’d be in a jail cell by now.”

“.. hm,” she hums, “in japan women can perform as they please.”

you hum as well, “I’ve read about japan before—you have a very interesting culture, there,” you smile. “are you perhaps a samurai?”

she nods her head, “I am,” she seems proud of the idea. to be a samurai.

“so… are you an assassin of some sort?” you giggle at your words.

yeah. she wasn’t telling you that.

“no, I just do my work and move on with it,” she replied.

“maybe.. we could get to know one another.. not in a dark alleyway?” you cock your head, “perhaps you could come back to the theatre with me, and we could talk more there?”

she nods, looking to be excited about the idea of getting to know such a beautiful woman better.

“I’d love to.”

I'm playing around with some potential puppet designs, keeping them to just one page is more manageable for me so I don't marry myself entirely to one idea and have room to explore other ideas without getting carried away. I'm thinking of drafting a design for a sphinx next ^^!

Puppet rambling under the cut <3

First little design experiment was using a Kelpie as inspiration ( a kelpie made of kelp, original I know lol). I normally start drawing at the bottom of a page and work up, for some reason, so you can see my original design and how it progresses from big bulky horse to spindly strange creature which I ended up liking a lot more. I liked the idea of it being a normal-ish horse from one side and next being this skeletal water rotted creature, equally I like the strange, spindly, more-cat-then-horse-like creature it ended up being so I think the end result would be trying to find a happy medium between the two. As for materials I was looking towards (surprising no one, my favourite puppet designer) Toby Olie who has a wonderful eye for fabric in his work.

First example is 'A Christmas Carol' and the second is 'Wolves in the walls' both of which he uses these wonderful scrappy fabrics to give such vibrant character to his puppets. In particular I liked the sinister quality given to the wolf puppets through the use of hemp material for their fur which is why I would use something similar, either that or well worn calico. Painted or stained a sickly sort of green.

For the hair I would use a rubber of some sort, best case would be something semi-transparent to give the illusion of seaweed. Partially for that seaweed effect but also for the sound, to echo the sickly, off-putting vibes im going for I would want something that would create a strange sound when it moves, something with almost a sticky, heavy quality to it harkening back to the mythos of Kelpies (the whole, you touch 'em you're stuck to 'em thing).

The design then graduated to more of a unicorn aesthetic, something that should be pure and good hearted, a lure to get people to come see and pet it. I favour the stylisation of Amalthea from the last unicorn, lanky but with a strange ethereal quality. And then it morphed in to a more cat like creature... somehow. I think I was more thinking of a trickster spirit for my Kelpie, something that looks kind and alluring to ensnare its prey :3

Part of my dissertation was on the line between costume and puppet so something I always try and include in my designs is this idea of disguising the pupeteer so the puppet take centre stage whilst also marrying their costume design into the puppet character they play. In this instance I was inspired, again, by the idea of the Kelpie attaching itself to its victim and dragging them in to drown them so I had designed the puppeteer to be one of the Kelpie's most recent victims.

So I figured out how to install unity explorer and poke around in the upturned. I haven’t found anything super exciting yet, but I have been trying to gather screenshots of character models as art references, and to possibly update the wiki with more information. I’m not familiar with game programming or programming in general, so im describing things using my very limited understanding of the unity explorer program and my lack of game design knowledge. I did find a couple things I will add to my drawings, though!!

Here’s a couple things I’ve found so far:

-in the challenge room floor you can find remnants of other enemies that were meant to appear. Every enemy type in the game has an option you can toggle on or off using bepinex. The only ones I’ve gotten to work so far are pajama man, ceiling hand, patricia and the chucklers. Options for shrimp and ribcages exist as well, but I didn’t see where they spawned

-also on the challenge floor, the voice speaking to you is not Sobbergritch, but Ik (technically; I can’t remember which voices noises play when the text pops up). Sob’s model isn’t on the floor, but Ik’s is. His face is covered with a black box like Sob’s was before floor 1434.

-I need to revisit this, but in The Morning level, I was only able to spot the horse’s model offscreen, but not the rider. I think the rider might use the same model as the traveler? I want to dig into this further and see if they’re the same

-sobbergritch is purple. Like, really, really purple. He’s nothing more than a skull and some ribs

-Ik’s model is on (almost?) every floor offscreen. He sits there dancing back and forth in front of the blue background, usually just under the first couple rooms on the floor. I was most excited to check this out since you can usually see his hand clip into frame during dialogue sections, and I was curious about his pose. This is also true for the lobby, where there’s an Ik offscreen alongside the Ik hiding behind the counter

-Ik’s head, neck and hand are all smooth and untextured, while the suit and sleeve have a woven texture. This isn’t very interesting until you realize that the woven texture goes allll the way down Ik’s body, and there’s some red poking out underneath. I’m not sure why I assumed the suit would stop halfway down his body, but it does mean I need to make some changes to the Ik puppet!!! I might start drawing him with red socks too. I want to add to his character design so little things like these are very exciting!!

“It was also good, though I didn’t do much I went to the store to get some more apples. Howdy had a sale, but he limited what I could buy.

“Oh, and why’s that?” “I may or may not like apples a little too much?” I raise an eyebrow at this but end up chuckling instead.

“Wait how many did you buy?” Wally was quite for a minute, leaving me suspect more than the usual.

“20.”

“You bought 20 apples?”

“Yes,”

“Are you going to make something with them?” I ask pushing myself on the bench now, I didn’t want my feet getting hurt. I was very curious of why he would by so many apples, that would last my family a while even made apples pie every day.

“No, I don’t really eat them.”

“Then why did you buy so many?”

“I like to just stare at them? I know it’s weird, but there just so shiny. They look very pretty; the red ones are my favourite honestly. But the green one’s are still alright, their also fun to draw and paint.”

“How long have you had this obsession with apples for?”

“Ever since I could remember? I know it’s weird but-“

“I know it’s weird but-“wally was cut off by the girls chuckles, he was currently in his Pj’s in his special red chair next to this phone. It was the only one that he could call her on, it was late at night for him so he had to remember to remain quite. But he was worried that she would consider his obsession with Apples weird.

“No, I don’t think it’s that weird, people can have things like that. I know I hyper fixate on Lego’s or movies!”

“What type of movies do you like?”

“I’m a sucker for romance and Comedy! But I do love a good horror!” Wally chuckles and pushes back his hair a little.

“those are complete different genre’s! how do you even watch a horror?”  y/n gasps dramatically at him.

“Horrors are good! You need to give them a try okay! they’re not that bad.” She defends herself, Wally chuckles at how defensive she was over her precious movie genre.

“What’s your favourite then? Mr I’m too good for Horror’s”

“Hey now! I never said I was too good for them!”

“Oh? Then what’s so bad with them?”

“I never said they where bad, I just said how do you watch them! Their so creepy! My favourite genre is action and western! Though I also love myself a romance movie.”

“Ooh so your scared of them, are you? That it. And you’re a cowboy’s kind of guy huh?”

“Always have been, isn’t it cool how they ride their horses off into the sunset? With their true love.”

“Mmm, I guess, I never really watch many cowboy movies.”

“My favourite would have to be big jack! It’s good you should watch it sometime!” Wally suggests.

“Hmmm I’ve never heard of that movie before, I’ll have to watch it.” Just at the suggestion of her watching his favourite movie, just because he said it was his favourite movie. He kicks his feet a little out of excitement, what was going on with him? He never acts this way. Julie and Frank sometimes act this way! But not him! he was always to cool one! The calm, collected, charmer of the group!

“You’ll like it I promise!”

“I hope so, anyways. You never told me how old you where, or what you wanted to ask my- I mean Harrison and Maggie.” Wally eyes widen, what the heck was he meant to tell her? He was in puppet years 20, but in human years? Who knew! Hell, he didn’t even know what decade it was over their he could be 30! No maybe even 100! And what would he say about the question as well?

‘Oh yes! I just wanted to know if he we could complete the spell? To make us alive so we could continue the show! And why they were trapped in this world? Before all of this, they where in this world, but then Harrison completed a spell. One that made them come to life there was more to the story, but how the heck was he just going to info dump you like that? How could he?

He might scare you away, and he loves talking to you so far! Love it a strong but it truly it what he think this feeling was. a love of a friend? He wanted to get to know you more before he would say anything. Hell maybe even some how, some way bring you into his world? He didn’t know how it would work or how but it was something in his imagination.

“Wally you there?”

“Oh yes! Sorry I just dropped the phone HAHA! Um I’m 20, how old are you?”

“Oh, when’s your birthday?” Wally asks, he was very glad you forgot the other question or had moved on from it.

“(date and  month of birth) 1996! What about yours?”

… Wally didn’t have a birthday. Well, the year of his birth doesn’t count, but what would his birthday be?

“Oh I don’t really celebrate my birthday-““WHAT! YOU DON’T CELEBRATE YOUR BIRTHDAY?!” Wally pulls the phone away from his face as she shouts into the phone.  

“No?” what he said was meant to be a statement, but really sounded like a question.

“I mean do what you want to do, but have you ever celebrated your birthday? Like in your life?” She asks more calmly, Wally pauses thinking back, they didn’t real do Birthdays here, no one had one. They Did Christmas, Halloween and easter! Heck even Saint Patrick’s Day. But never birthdays.

“No?” he whispers into the phone, it stayed quiet. The house was quiet, Home was asleep. So, Wally did not want to wake her up. Otherwise, he would have been sent to bed.

“Dam, Is it your religion?”

“What? Oh no! I just never have? Hehe sorry if that’s a little weird-“ “No it’s not weird! I just, well it just surprised me sorry.”

“Why are you apologising? you did nothing wrong.” Wally tries to comfort her. He honestly had no idea what he was doing though.

“I don’t know>” silence filled the call again. The air filled with so much tension you could cut it like a birthday cake. They both wanted to say something but what?  Wally wants to say something, but what? He didn’t have much he could talk about with her; I mean it was different from talking with the neighbours.

“So, your 20 and own a house?”

“Oh! Yes, it’s small but nice a house. It has a decent yard.”

“that’s nice, I’m surprised you where able to get a house in this economy!”

“well I inherited it, from a great grandma?” Wally was lying, he knew it was never good to lie. But a little white lie wouldn’t do too much harm do?

“did you know her?”

Son of a-

“No, not really! But I kept the house the same. Nothing really changed haha!” He says he hears the girl chuckle a little, but then a small yawn escapes her lips.

“sorry, I’m just a little tired.”

“no it’s no problem. You should probably head to bed, you got plans tomorrow?”

“mum’s making me go shopping with my baby brother, so I’m most likely Going to be warn out. But I’ll tell you if anything interesting happens?” Wally smile grew, she was the one who wanted to call again. And he was very happy she was enjoying it so much she wanted to call again, maybe a little too happy?

“sure, would you like me to call you earlier?”

“I don’t mind, thanks for the chat it was really nice.”

“Same, you’re quite the interesting person Y/n.” he loved hearing her giggle into the phone, and how she yawned again into the phone. UGH!

“Okay then, good night, Wally~” her tired voice sang.

“Night Y/n, sleep well”. When she hangs up, wally instaintly stands up and runs around happily jumping around. Getting all of his excitement out, that was until home woke up thanks to the noises he was making and caught him with the curtains.

“CREEEK!!!”

“sorry home, I just got excited! I’ll be quieter! Sorry home"

The new Professor puppet is great and I love him. He looks cuddly as shit, and I hope he continues to get more fun outfits.

Shane please put arm rods on the Professor I’m begging. If u can move his hands he’ll look so much more animated and can do a lot of funny shit that way

I enjoyed this season’s theme of “people who, no matter where or what they were, decided to just do some batshit stuff in life” and didn’t make us think in absolutes of They Were Obviously Evil/Good and let us draw our own conclusions.

(It also fit with Ryan and the Professor’s character arcs imo- they’ve both made mistakes, and the Antarctica episode Especially is about leaders whose personal shortcomings lead to uhhhh Death! so)

THAT BEING SAID I am WAITING for a follow up on the Catholic church’s abuse where it’s condemned. It was not right at all for that hat to get off scot free like it did. Send his ass to hell

idk who exactly writes the songs for puppet history but the fact they can write something that flops as hard as the Dragon's song and then something with the genuinely stunning vocabulary and imagery of Antarctica's is fucking insane.

season was a Bit Eurocentric imo. disappointing

the production quality of the puppets has increased so drastically. it's genuinely pleasing to see this medium being treated well even by amateur performers. i extend a Big Bravo to the cast & crew at Watcher!!!

i'm neither disappointed nor glad about the "lack" of lore- it's one of my favorite parts of the show, but what i love most is just getting to watch it and learn new things. however if you guys didnt want us asking so many questions you shouldn't have made such a cute and fun Host and cast of supporting characters to get attached to<3

already looking forward to next season, though i'm predicting a holiday special along the same lines as the funeral one- i think halloween is an appropriate time to find out what happened to all our "dead" friends and foes dont u 🤔 but maybe that is Wishful Thinking.....

I did an AU!!

If you don't like wally x frank and you're one of those toxic eddie x frank lovers that bothers you to see others who like other frank ships that aren't with eddie, please don't read it or I'll bully you. >:c

Wally is a Fairy + Butterfly and lived in a neighborhood near the forest that was mostly butterfly and caterpillars, there are also other insects that were harmless.

One day Wally, his first time, did not know what to draw this time, he could calmly paint a portrait or a passage, but he did not know what. painting something related to the neighborhood did not convince him, it already seemed boring to him, he wanted to see something new and original.

So he decided to walk around looking for inspiration, he found it, but he also found a "new" species, frank, the human. (his appearance of him is still a puppet but it is understood) then wally decided that this human was going to be the new painting of him.

Wally was the place that he found frank every day, of course he stared at frank to memorize any detail about his appearance and personality before painting him, little by little he grew curious about him and humans.

But there was one day, Poppy realized that every day Wally was not at home or with someone, usually he was always with Barnaby or with someone else. then he found out that wally was going to the forest to "dress" a human (it wasn't home's gossip at all that he told him) when wally returned home at night, poppy got in the middle of his way to warn him that it is dangerous to be near the human, since they steal his normal butterflies (normal butterflies are like horses, their function is for the caterpillars to ride them to go places that are very far away or they need to fly to get there) and they never come back. (since some humans catch butterflies to have them inside a painting and have them decorated on the walls)

So wally gets a little scared and starts to be a little careful when he goes to spy on frank... lie, wally was caught by frank, who mistook him for a flashy/very rare butterfly with wings.

Frank put Wally inside in a glass vase and looked at him excitedly to analyze it and... Frank was like that when he saw that it was a mini human with butterfly fairies: Ö

When wally greeted him, frank was like this: D:

He almost drops the vase in fright but I catch it so the creature doesn't get hurt. when frank calms down a bit, he starts talking to him a bit and frank learns more about wally and discovers that there's more to him. (And he finds out that Wally had him staring at him for days.) Frank lets him go, Wally unexpectedly visits him the next day.

There an interesting friendship begins, both discover each other, and also the customs and culture of both species. (perhaps wally here already knows how romantic love feels and understands it a bit) and even frank took wally to the neighborhood where he lived (obviously hidden) to see what the human world is like.

Poppy was accompanied by someone to look for fruits to make a cake, they saw Wally was in Frank's hands with a broken wing and he took him home, they both got scared and ran to the neighborhood to ask for help.

Everything was fine until one day a bird tried to eat Wally. Although the bird did not achieve its goal, it was able to hurt one of Wally's fairies.

luckily frank was there to rescue him and scare the bird away. when the bird flew away, frank realized that wally had a broken fairy and he took it to his house to repair his friend's wing.

Barnaby heard her screams, heard what Poppy saw in the woods, and went straight to "rescue" Wally.

Barnaby entered Frank's house (quick explanation, his house is a little closer to the forest) in the window he saw Frank with Wally repairing his wing, he entered the house and made a golden dust on top of Frank to make him smaller, to rescue Wally and take Frank to the human prison. (They made a prison for humans steal butterflies)

But Wally convinced Barnaby that Frank is not bad and rescued him from a bird that tried to eat him, but still Wally has to clarify with the officers about the accident (so they don't think that Frank is a prisoner trying to escape) and Barnaby has to find out who is the inventor of the golden glitter // Barnaby knows the inventor of the gold dust, but the invention did not occur to him to make a powder that has the opposite effect of the golden dust.

While Frank waits for a powder to exist to return him to his original size, it's his turn to get to know Wally's world in person and little by little, feel something for him.

With every character I’ve created with Guillermo del Toro, he’s never said, “Right, so, this is exactly what I want.”

He’ll come with an idea and usually some drawings, and from there, it’s up to you to develop the concept. It’s a process.

The earliest take on the Pale Man, from Pan’s Labyrinth (2006), was of a wooden man with drawers in his chest. Inside one of them is a dagger that Ofelia has to find, but if she opens the wrong drawer, there’s a thin, long, slimy tongue that licks her face.

Guillermo was like, “No, no, no. We need something else.”

Next, we came up with a fat, old man, sitting at the banquet table, who suddenly becomes very thin.

Again, Guillermo was like, “No, no, no. Let’s change it.”

He wanted the Pale Man to be stick-thin with hanging skin, and for reference he gave us that Salvador Dali painting of melting clocks.

But he’s like, “I still don’t like it . . . Remove his eyes.”

I was like, “Remove his eyes? What the hell? But OK.”

We removed his eyes. Then Guillermo tells us to remove his nose as well. I’m like, “How is he going to breathe?”

So Guillermo says, “Do a manta ray sort of thing.”

As a director, he’s the most creative person I’ve ever worked with. But as a producer, his first and only priority is the film itself.

So we did those little, round holes. And we were getting pretty close to what we ended up with in the movie. But then Guillermo’s like, “It’s not right. Let’s do this: When Ofelia eats the grape, he’ll transform. He’ll open his mouth, his lips will recede, the screaming skull of a horse will come out, and he’ll turn into a four-legged creature that chases her.”

We were in the middle of pre-production, we had no money left, and suddenly Guillermo came up with something that not only required a make-up, but also a mechanical thing, and then a puppet. I told him he’d have to find someone else to do it and he got mad at me.

The thing is, whenever I talk about Guillermo, I always say the same. As a friend, he’s the best you could ever have. As a director, he’s the most creative person I’ve ever worked with. But as a producer, his first and only priority is the film itself.

We took some time to cool down and met a while later in Madrid. Guillermo backed down from the screaming horse concept, but the make-up was still not quite there. As he has no eyes, I asked, “How is he going to find Ofelia?”

Guillermo said to me, “Close your eyes and try to find me.”

I thought maybe he’d slap my face, but OK, I closed my eyes. First, I felt around on the table on front of me, then I reached out as far as I could, with my hands wide open. Guillermo yells, “Stop there!”

And he comes up to me and draws eyes on my palms. I was like, “That makes no sense! He grabs the fairy with his eyes?”

But he says, “Stop thinking about practical stuff and think about magic.”

I was like, “You’re right! OK. Let’s do this.”

The first make-up test we did was with just the face and the hands. Guillermo said maybe we should add some tattoos or something, but I convinced him we didn’t need more detail. That the simpler the design, the better.

So Doug Jones is sitting in the chair, playing with the make-up, trying things out. He holds his hands up to his face, like he’s staring at us, then he closes his hands, and opens them again, like he’s blinking. It was just the most amazing moment.

We painted his pointy fingers black, so they’d look like eyelashes. And finally, we agreed: we had our Pale Man!

He didn’t come from Guillermo’s mind, though, or mine. More, a mix of accidents, financial limitations and great ideas from many different artists. Plus Doug, of course, flapping his fingers!

And that’s how we somehow created what very quickly became an iconic movie monster.

what the fuck is up everyone I got a story idea from a dream I had after only getting two hours of sleep on a work night. deets under the cut.

FIRST RECORDING OF THE DREAM’S INFO SPAMMED IN A CHAT

oh god its like fleeting images bushes turning into wings people could use a man that was a lantern given human form a horse buggy with no horse but it had spider legs being on the run from someone bad with a gang of kids a diner called Bazooka Joe's somethinga bout an old traffic tunnel it was vaaaaaaaaaaaaarely vaguley pkemon related then it swapped to minecraft the man who was on the run with the kids looked like the humanized version of jack skellington i draw sometimes the bad guys were these giant long dragons one of them made out of corn husks and one was all black and called The Ugly and like, the guy was leading the kids around and showing them all kinds of cool shit so they wouldnt be scared while subtly keeping an eye out for the dragons who like, knew him personally I think they were either trying to get home or get them to a certain point in the weird world because there were a lot of nonsense things kind of like in the phantom  tollbooth oh well time to go to work on two hours of sleep but those two hours gave me that

After spending all day thinking about it at work and telling a few oher folks about it, I arrived at a first draft of what would become the story’s bones.

So there are four kids who are at a camp (ala digimon) who get lured into the woods by a strange light and then find themselves in this weird out of place town that seems nearly abandoned but has tons of weird touristy attractions like places to eat, shop, rides to go on, and generally neat stuff because its empty adn NO PARENTS HERE!!! and this tall dude in black with a sick mustache who calls himself Mr. Fetch swoops in to be their tour guide and leads them through all kinds of whimsical fun shit some of it's dangerous, some of it's weird, but most of it is fun and HE is also super fun because he's all magic and shit While he's hanging with the kids, he starts getting sort of attached to them (sorry spilled my water) then, at one point, they are attacked by a monster and they try to defend Mr. Fetch because they see him as a feeble old man and he is Moved by this and steps in to Stop Them From Doing That and gets his ass kicked in a very significant way as he fends off the beast he is Injured  and loses the use of a lot of his powers during the fight but he doesn't let on because he doesnt want to scare them and also EGO the monster that he fended off goes back to tell a weird gross black dragon called The Ugly that there are children in the town The Ugly used to be a beautiful dragon, one of a pair that had a falling out because The Ugly wanted to use the powers they had for evil and that made them gross and so the other dragon left him and sealed him in a tower so he couldn't hurt anyone The Ugly desires the SOULS AND BLOOD OF CHILDREN so that he may become beautiful again and attract his mate back (he misses the fact that he was who made himself ugly) He communicates with his few servents with a husk puppet of the other dragon he made to keep himself company with He also keeps himself company with a bunch of objects that were in the castle that he brought to life sort of like a reverse beauty-and-the-beast situation and these objects are his lackies that he uses to hunt down anyone youthful and beautiful it is revealed that Mr. Fetch used to be a lantern and was the first object that The Ugly transformed but he put too much magic into him and gave him free will and after a little while of being his servant, decided FUCK THAT and became a free agent of chaos in the town Mr. Fetch makes it like, his life's duty to fuck with The Ugly his original plan was to lure the kids into the world, parade them in front of The Ugly like NENER NENER and then whisk them away home before anything bad happened since The Ugly cant leave his tower but now Mr. Fetch is injured and caaaaaaaaaant do that nearly as easily as he thought he could and now he's gone and gotten ATTACHED to the kids the light in his lamp is out and more lackies are coming after him and the kids so he's trying his best to finish this little wonderland trip with them without letting them know that they are in Actual Danger now instead of Fun Danger and THAT IS WHAT I HAVE

this is all VERY scattered but I wanted to have it somewhere as early as I could to show my work.
