If Luffy accidentally made you cry
Tumblr media
Reader: gn
Headcanons of if Luffy made you cry on accident
A/N: I’m leaving how he made you cry completely up to you so your silly little head can envision whatever you came up with and not have to comply with what mine did and possibly dislike it because it’s cringe 👍
As soon as Luffy saw the tears begin to form in your eyes he frowned, backtracking immediately.
now he’s not the brightest guy on the seas so if he doesn’t realize he hurt you—cut him some slack- he’d say something like, ‘hey! What’s going on?! Why’re you crying?”
if you react more harshly because he didn’t register that it was his fault right away, and shout at him, smack, whatever- he’s gonna be confused and a bit hurt himself. The situation’ll probably escalate quickly if you do this and I’m talkin in a bad way. Worse if you walk away because now he can’t get context from you. ‘I don’t get it?! Why’re you so upset all the sudden?!’ Is likely his next response.
let’s say you finally get it through his head that it was through his actions and/or words that your crying. He’ll be in a quick moment of shock as in, ‘I did that? I did do that didn’t I?! Oh no, I did!’ But Luffy’s a man who owns up to his mistakes when he’s wrong, undoubtedly and honestly. So you get a bunch of apologies immediately after. ‘Sorry! I’m sorry! Sorry! I’m really sorry! I didn’t mean it! Sorry!’
this is where he’ll try to comfort you physically, if you’ll let him. He’ll start with an arm on your back in case you get defensive, but if you sink into his touch he brings you into a tight hug. He doesn’t stop apologizing throughout all of it. How could he have made you cry?! He loves you! How could he have hurt you?!
he promises to get you all your favorite things to try and cheer you up. He promises never to do/say what he did to make you cry ever again too! Definitely! In fact, he’ll never make you cry again! Not that either!! Do you want Sanji to bake you a cake to help you feel better? Food always makes him feel better! ❤️‍🩹
rewinding back in time a bit! 😅 let’s say you didn’t go the aggressive reaction route, and your still crying from whatever he did or said to make you. But he’s also still confused as to why you’re crying. It’s likely you’re still upset that he didn’t get it, but you have more patience. You tell him what he said or did to hurt you and to be honest from there it’s pretty much the same reaction!
something that would also change the scenario up a bit is if he realized it was him that hurt you from jump. But again, not a big change. He’d be really upset with himself that he hurt his lover, apologize like a man, then comfort you. <3
if you don’t cheer up right away he’ll keep trying and trying until he sees your visibly happy again. He won’t leave your side for an adventure or any kind of fun until he sees you’re alright. It just doesn’t sit right with him to leave you crying on your own. He’s a man who takes care of those he loves, why would he?!
If he indirectly made you to cry—example, he did something and his actions ended up hurting you, he would do whatever he can to fix it immediately. He was playing in your room and accidentally broke something precious to you?! Crap! Usopp! Franky! Can you fix it?! How about we glue it back together?? You were saving up that gold for something really important?? Uhh- he spent it all on meat by accident- SORRY! He’ll go steal a bunch more gold right now so don’t cry okay?! He’ll be back as soon as he can!
in case you really couldn’t think of a reason he’d make you cry I listed those :)
honestly these are real short because even when going into detail Luffy is a man about things and will always apologize in the end. These are headcanons of if he makes you cry and I really don’t write angst like that, meaning I could extend these and do a scenario where he disagrees that it’s his fault but I ain’t gon do allat. Goodnight.

<- previous chapter
NOTE: I’ve planned to write this chapter even longer, but then I decided that it would be pointless as most of the things would be repetitive. Here are the descriptions of some filmmaking terms, so when you are reading you know what the characters are talking about: D.O.P - Director of Photography/Cinematographer, the person who works closely with the director, and the person who determines the framing of the shots and capturing the scenes AC - First Assistant Camera, the person who is responsible for the focus of the camera and the lenses Call Sheet - The daily schedule, filled with all the information needed for the actors and the crew about when, where and what will be filmed Storyboard - Visual representation of a film sequence and breaking down the actions into individual panels, sketching out how the video will unfold shot by shot I hope that all of this Filmmaking things are not boring you, but I feel like if I don’t write them down the story will feel super fake and the logic will be missing and it won’t be clear why certain things are described a certain way, if you get what I mean 😅 Anyway I hope you enjoy this chapter as much as the previous ones, or even more hehe… also … there are some major foreshadowing in this chapter 👀 hihi enjoy <333
It has been two weeks since the Halloween party, which I try not to think about much. Nami was quite upset with me the first few days after it, as I left without saying goodbye and because I wasn’t answering the next day. I wasn’t in the mood to talk about the party with anyone. When we met on Monday in lectures, I lied to her and Usopp that I felt super sick and because of it I left without saying anything not wanting to ruin their funny, and they bought it. Everything was fine, until I saw Ace once at the coffee shop, luckily for me he had his back facing me, so he didn’t see me. I recognised him by his orange beanie, but I quickly left as I wasn’t ready to see him again. Still, almost everyday I caught myself thinking about him at least once, going back to the moment we “shared” at the party. He had his ways to get under someone’s skin, I gave him that. We have barely spoken or knew each other, yet I couldn’t shake him off my thoughts. The way his actions and words were so contradicting. I still remember the burning feeling he left inside of me by just barely touching my skin, I can only imagine what it could have been if he had kissed me. Or maybe I totally misread the situation, but I would never know.
The only thing keeping me from thinking of him was the fact that I was extremely busy with the upcoming short-cut projects at university. I was stuck writing and rewriting my script, not being satisfied with it fully, and we must submit our final draft by the end of this week. Because of that we didn’t have any classes this week and I haven’t gotten out at all. Nami and Usopp texted me a few times to join them outside for a drink, even Luffy texted me to hang out, but I turned them all down, as my main focus right now was submitting my final draft.
Today I had consultation with one of my teachers regarding my script, as I wanted a second opinion if the story and the actions were clear. My meeting was scheduled at 2PM, so I got plenty of time as I woke up quite early, not being able to sleep in the past few days. I decided to get dress and grab a coffee from my favorite coffee shop. I put a pair of dark baggy jeans and just a basic grey cotton t-shirt, not feeling like dressing myself up today, as stress was taking over me. I didn’t even bother to put makeup or anything, I just put my jacket on, grabbed my bag over the shoulder and headphones and left. As I was on my way to the coffee shop when the next song that started to play from my headphones was Ace’s song. I had saved them all on my playlist; aside from Ace’s confusing behaviour at least his band’s music was good.
Touch my neck and I'll touch yours You in those little high-waisted shorts, oh
The song started to bring memories from the party, especially when the choirs hit.
'Cause it's too cold for you here and now So let me hold both your hands in the holes of my sweater
I wasn’t in the mood for this, so I quickly changed the song.
“Fucking Ace.” I cursed under my breath.
The sky was cloudy today, and I didn’t check the weather app, and it seemed like it was going to rain. Soon drops of rain started to pour from the sky and I started to run towards the cafe. My jacket didn’t have a hood, and my hair got wet and messy by the time I reached it. It was quite busy when I got inside, and my usual seat was taken so I went to wait on the queue before I sit somewhere.
“One black coffee, please” I ordered to the barista. My card declined as I was trying to pay. “Oh, I’m so sorry, give me a second.” I apologised to them, as I probably ran out of money, and I had to transfer from my savings.
“I will pay for her and make them two.” This smooth, low voice that I would recognise from miles away said behind me.
“Ace” I turned around immediately facing him. He just winked at me, paying for the coffees. The barista handed us the coffees and we thanked him.
“Thanks for the coffee.” I glanced at Ace and went to find a place to sit, leaving him by himself. I found a small table at the back of the shop. I sat down and pulled my laptop from my bag, trying to calm myself down. Of course, off all possible days I met him today. As the day couldn’t get any more stressful for me it had to serve me Ace on top.
“Mind if I take a seat?” Ace stood next to me, waiting for my respond. He had this little smug smirk on his face, and that slightly irritated me.
“Sure.” I gave him a short response. He sat down across from me, leaning his back on the wall, resting one of his arms on the back of the chair and the other on the table, his whole body facing away from me. I took a quick look at him. He was wearing baggy jeans with an oversized grey hoodie, which was wet from the rain, and his red bead neckless hanged around his neck as always.
“We are matching today.” He pointed out, tilting his head towards me. I looked down at myself and realised that we were wearing matching outfits. I gave him a simple nod, looking away from him back to my computer. “You look tired.” He said taking look at my tired face.
“I am tired.” I sighed.
“Is everything okay? Are you okay, doll?” His voice had a hint of concern.
“Don’t call me that.” I snapped at him.
“Why are you so moody? Someone stepped on your tail this morning... doll?” He mocked me. I shoot him a glance from behind my laptop not in the mood for jokes. “You look cute when mad, you know.” He chuckled at me, the smirk not leaving his face.
“What do you want Ace?” I raised my eyebrow at him.
“Nothing, just to sit and chitchat with a friend.” His answer pissed me off, like he forgot what happened two weeks ago.
“Ace...” I took a breath calming myself down before continuing. “I don’t want to be rude, but I’m under a lot of stress right now, so if you want to sit here – sit but I’m not in the mood for a chitchat.” I didn’t want to be mean at him, but also, I couldn’t hide my irritation right now. He just nodded and sipped from his coffee. We were sitting in silence – me on my laptop, writing and rewriting whatever felt right or not, and Ace was just scrolling on his phone. I took a sip from my coffee and couldn’t help but wrinkled my nose and furrowed my eyebrows as always. I heard Ace chuckle under his breath.
“What?” I asked Ace.
“Nothing.” He shrugged, his smug smile not leaving his lips.
“You are laughing at me, aren’t you?” I nagged.
“Please, doll explain this: why drinking coffee if you hate it?” He turned his body to face me, putting both of his forearms on the table, holding his coffee cup.
“Because if I drink something that I like I will get addicted to it and then I will want to drink it all the time – that’s why.” I responded.
“How may coffees you drink a day?” He had this mischievous spark in his eyes.
“Depends on the day, but sometimes two or three.”
“Doll, I think you are already addicted.” I rolled my eyes at his comment.
“Stop calling me ‘doll’, Ace.” What was with this pet name, he hasn’t stopped calling me ‘doll’ since Halloween.
“Why? You don’t like it?” He teased me.
“You call all your friends ‘doll’?” I teased him back.
“No, only you.” His voice was low, almost like a whisper, eyes glued on mine half lidded as always. Instead of a smirk he had this little smile playing on his lips. I broke the eye contact looking back at my laptop, starting to type on the keyboard again.
“What are you writing there?” He leaned on his hand, his voice soft.
“My script for the short-cuts.” My respond short, eyes not leaving the computer as I was re-reading the script, checking for mistakes or if I need to add extra remarks.
“Is that why you are so stressed?” He straitened up his posture, studying my face as he was sipping from his coffee. I simply nodded in response. “What is it about?” He asked and I looked at him hesitating if I should tell him.
“It’s about a man, who fell in love with this woman from the moment he saw her, but so did his best friend.” I chuckled feeling a little embraced telling Ace the plot of my script. “But his best friend hit on her first, so they started to date, and the whole scene is about them announcing their engagement and the man – the main character, gets lost in his thoughts of ‘what if’. ‘What if’ he did a move on her first, and they were the one dating and he knows how he would have treated her better ect.” I was babbling as Ace was just looking at me, taking every word, I said. “And then the ‘what if’ moment gets interrupted by his girlfriend who shakes him off the thoughts asking him what’s wrong and why he doesn’t congratulate them, and he quickly brushes it off and congratulates them only to whisper to his best friend's now fiancé that it should have been him.” I took a deep breath and raised my eyebrows in anticipation for Ace’s opinion on the script.
“Can I read it?” His voice and eyes sparkled with interest, so I turned my laptop and handed it to him. His face was unreadable while he was reading it until he handed me the laptop back.
“Well... what do you think?” I felt my confidence leaving me, as he wasn’t saying anything.
“I think that I don’t know much about scripts, nothing at all actually, but...” He paused for a second. “I can’t wait to see your film, doll. I really liked it.” Ace leaned on the back of the chair; arms crossed around his chest as he smiled at me.
“What? You mean that? You really liked the script?” My eyes widened of surprise hearing his response. “Like, you really, really mean that?”
“Yes, doll I do.” He chuckled. “Have more fait in yourself.” I didn’t know how to respond to this. I've heard this a lot – be more confident, have more fait in yourself, yet the ‘imposter’ syndrome could never leave me.
“Thank you, Ace. This means a lot.” I smiled at him.
“Nothing to thank me about.” He raised his cup of coffee to his lips and before he took a sip he added. “And if it sucked, I was going to tell you.” I playfully rolled my eyes at him.
“I rewrote it like a hundred times. I have a consultation with my teacher at 2PM, because we are submitting them tomorrow, so I hope he likes it, and I don’t need to rewrite again.” I closed my laptop and put it back in my bag. Ace looked at his phone to check the time.
“You still have some time, like almost two hours.” We stayed in silence for a moment, I was avoiding his gaze, as my shyness started to take over me, the memories of the party surfacing on my mind.
“How are your ears, by the way? I forgot to ask you at the party.” The mockery in his voice was so clear.
"My ears?" I didn't understand what he meant my that.
"Yeah, that video with you and Usopp." A big grin spread across his face when he.
“No, no, no don’t remind me.” I got all flushed as I covered my face with my hands, embarrassed of the accident with the microphone and Usopp. Ace laughed at my reaction.
“I love that video, I made Nami sent it to me.”
“What? No! No, no, no!” ‘Nami how could you?’ I was thinking to myself, why would she do that, why would Ace want that video. “Please, Ace delete it.” I begged him. “It’s not even that funny.”
“Yeah, it’s not funny – it’s hilarious.” He snorted, clearly enjoying mocking me like this. I shook my head giving up, my face still covered with the palms of my hand, as I knew that he wouldn’t delete it. “Hey, look at me.” I looked up only to see my shocked face zoomed on his phone screen as a screenshot.
“Ace!” I squealed, reaching with my hand to snatch his phone away to delete the picture but he quickly pulled it away. “Aceee.” I stomped my food like a little kid.
“Easy, doll. Going through someone’s phone is not polite, you know that?” He snapped his index finger hitting me on my forehead, laughing at my reaction, as I pouted.
“You are so mean.” I told him. “What are your plans for the day?” I leaned on my chair, mimicking his posture.
“Go to the studio, play a little with the guys, then talk with our manager about some marketing stuffs and deals – nothing interesting.” Ace shrugged; he didn’t sound very enthusiastic.
We stayed for an hour more – talking and laughing. It was so easy to be myself around him, yet sometimes I caught myself getting a little tensed when he smirked at me or made some teasing comments. I wanted to ask him what exactly happened with him at the party two weeks ago, but I didn’t want to ruin the moment we were having. Even thought we had four years difference I couldn’t really feel it as Ace was still carrying this very boyish energy in him. I got to learn a little bit more about him, and what he likes and dislikes. When it was time for me to head to university he suggested to walk with me to there since he still had some time before him and the guys meet.
The weather outside was still the same but at least it wasn’t raining. We were walking next to each other, almost no distance between our bodies. He was telling me more about his brothers, and things they did as kids.
“So, wait, wait.” I interrupted him. “You are telling me that your aunt Dadan didn’t have any money for your vocal lessons, but the moment Sabo said that he wants to learn how to play drums she immediately signed him up?” I was in disbelief.
“Yea, he is her favourite, as he is you know – blue eyed, blonde, cute.” He mocked her voice as he was describing Sabo. “Then you have Luffy, and last one is me – the black sheep.” He winked with a mischievous smirk.
“Why are you the black sheep?” That piqued my curiosity.
“Our friendship is way too fresh for this conversation, doll.” He bumped me with his elbow on the side, chuckling. I laughed it off, not wanting to push his boundaries.
“Okay one very, very important question before I go.” We were almost to the university when I stopped him before we part our ways. I stood in front of him, with the most serious look on my face, looking straight at his eyes as I pointed my finger at him and spoke. “Which is your all-time favourite movie?”
“Hm...” Ace frowned his eyebrows, thinking for a moment. “I’m not sure, I have to think about it, doll.” He smiled at me.
“I will be waiting for your answer.” I turned around and started to walk towards the school gates.
“Hey, doll.” Ace called after me. “You never gave me your number.”
“Not until you tell me your favourite movie.” I yelled behind my back, waving him goodbye as I entered the gates. My cheeks flaming hot, my heart was bumping fast, and for the rest of the day I don’t think that I would be able to take off the smile from my face. Maybe just being friends wouldn’t hurt, I’m sure I could put my little crush aside and before I know it, we would have this amazing friendship. Some people are better left as friends – and if Ace and I are one of them, so let it be it.
*********
Ace was watching (Y/N) leave and as she disappeared from his sight, he laughed to himself. She was very interesting person. The way she changed her moods so fast, the way her eyes sparked when she talked about things she loved or was excited about, the way when even without saying anything her face betrays her and says it all – she was very fun to hang around. (Y/N) crossed his mind a few times in past two weeks, part of him regrating not taking his chance with her at the party, but then that was for the best. She was a nice girl and a friend of his friends, and he didn’t want to hurt her or give her some empty promises that he couldn’t keep. The least you two could of do was to try being friends, after all better friends than strangers. And she was quite young, Ace remember how he used to behave in his early 20s. The last thing on his mind was to keep someone for a longer than a month, when the world offered him so much; it should be the same with her – after all she was such a catch for the eye. Even today, all tired with sleepy bags under her eyes and messy hair, she was still very cute to look at. Ace wasn’t stupid he did feel the attraction they shared towards one another, but he was doing her a big-time favour by setting their boundaries straight. Although teasing from time to time wouldn’t hurt, she was such a tease herself, which was making it so hard for him.
Ace got to the building where the studio was located. The building was old and had five stores. The studio the guys were renting there was on the second floor. Before going up Ace wanted to light a cigarette or two. He leaned on the staircase and lit up one. ‘Favourite movie, hm...’ he was thinking about an answer he could give you of a movie that he really liked and could say that resonated with him.
“Yo, Ace.” He tilted his head to the side and saw Law walking towards him. They gave each other a quick bump on the shoulders. Ace pulled out his cigarettes from his pocket offering Law one, but he refused.
“What’s up with you? You seem moody.” Ace asked him, as Law seemed not to be in the mood. Law and Ace had been best friends since high school. They met after Ace was kicked out in 9th grade, from the one where him and Sabo were attending together. The first day Ace and Law met, they didn’t really like each other or spoke. It wasn’t until one day when Law was getting beaten up by some 11th graders bullies, and Ace jumped to help him, only for them to end up with detention. Since then, their friendship started. No one else but Law knew off Ace’s darkest secrets, and vice versa; even Sabo and Luffy didn’t know as much about Ace as Law knew. They both could easily read the other like an open book. Which was why Ace could tell something was disturbing Law.
“Nothing.” Law replied, but Ace wasn’t falling for that.
“Come on, bro. If you don’t tell me then who?” Ace took another cigarette lighting it up. He looked at Law again, raising his eyebrows questioningly if he was sure that he didn’t want to smoke one. Law sighed annoyed and took one, lighting it fast and taking long puff from it.
“So?” Ace waited for his respond, but he thought he already knew the reason behind it.
“Robin.” Law glanced at Ace knowing that he got the whole picture already. Ace snorted, shaking his head knowing that he guessed right.
“What did you do this time?” He looked at his friend frustrated face, knowing that it was probably him that messed up something again. Robin and Law were an on and off thing, that only Ace knew about, and it has been two years since this was happening.
“Why do you assume that I did something immediately?” He snapped at Ace, which only confirmed that he did in fact did something that lead to them fighting again. If Law was in a bad mood because of Robin then it meant that he fucked up, if he was going mad, almost insane then Robin did something. That has happened only once and it was when she wanted to end everything with him, and Ace swore that for the tenth years of him and Law being friends, he had never seen Law losing his mind the way he did that night.
“Fine.” Law said after a while. “You remember the chick from the Halloween party? Well, somehow Robin found out that I slept with her, so she is nagging on me now, how for a thousand time I broke our agreement.” He threw the finished cigarette on the ground, stomping it frustrated.
“Why do you even have this agreement in the first place?” Ace got annoyed as this wasn’t the first time this happened; since Robin and Law started seeing each other, they decided that they didn’t want anything serious, but if something was happening between them, they must not sleep with other people.
“I don’t know man, I just don’t want to go through this again.” Law exhaled. “Plus, we haven’t done anything in a month and so, so.. I thought to myself why not, you know.” He shrugged, the sound of regret could be heard in his voice.
“Did she tell you how she found out?”
“No, no idea. But there was this chick that walked on me at the party, but I was wearing the mask, so I doubt it that it was her. Even thought she looked familiar.” Ace didn’t say anything, he knew that (Y/N) walked on Law, but he decided to keep this information to himself, after all he doubt that she knew Robin.
“What are you planning to do then?” Ace threw his finished cigarette and nodded to Law to get going inside.
“Find a way to fix it.” Law murmured as they were going up the stairs.
The apartment where the studio was, was quite small a one room apartment but very practical. The whole space was turned into one big, isolated sound room. Thanks to Deuce and some of his connections the guys were able to rent it for themselves only for a very nice price. Going in Ace and Law were met with Deuce and Sabo, who were here since the morning. The guys greeted each other and started to chitchat as they were waiting for their manager. Some time passed and he finally came.
“Yo, what’s up Marco?” Sabo was the first one to greet him. Marco was a man in his mid-thirties, blond hair styled in a very interesting mullet style. He had been recently become the guys’ manager, as he had been in the music industry for the past ten years now. It happened after they were performing in some underground night club, and by chance Marco happened to be there that same night. After they were done with their set, he went to speak with them and gave his business card to get in touch with him.
“Same as usual, how are things with you boys?” Marco smiled at them as he pushed his glasses up adjusting them.
“Same as usual here.” Deuce replied, the rest of the boys agreeing.
“I don’t have much time today so I will get straight to business.” Marco clapped with his hands. “We can not afford to postpone this anymore so it’s time for you to finally decide which will be your debut single from the EP and we need to film a music video for it, as soon as possible.”
“Easy answer – ‘Sweater Weather’” Ace said not waiting for the rest of the guys to have a word.
“Are you all on the same page for this?” Marco glanced at the other guys to make sure that they all agreed with Ace’s choice of song.
“I think we all agree, it is our most streamed song.” Deuce said, Law and Sabo agreeing with the choice that Ace made as well.
“Okay, that was faster than I expected.” Marco chuckled. “I was thinking between ‘Sweater Weather’ or ‘Cry Baby’, so I agree with your choice guys. Now for the video, I already have some directors in mind. The first one is Ja-“
“We already have.” Ace interrupted him.
“What do you mean we already have?” Sabo looked at his brother confused, they have never talked about filming a video, let alone them already having the crew for it.
“Yes, Ace; what do you mean by this?” Marco asked, as confused as the rest of the guys.
“I have already spoken with some people, and they are down to film our first video. That’s it. No need to search for director or crew, we already have.”
“And they are?” Marco raised his eyebrow waiting for Ace to give him more clear answer.
“Luffy's friends.” Ace shrugged.
“You must be kidding me?” Sabo quickly snapped at him. Ace just shook his head, looking at his brother questioningly. “Ace, we need professional director and crew, not some kids who barely started to do this.”
“They are not kids, and I’m sure they will do pretty well. Plus, you don’t seem to call Usopp a kid when he is producing music for us, do you?” Ace snapped back at his brother.
“Because he has the talent for it, but he said it himself he is not such a good director.” Sabo tried to reason his brother. “Also have you asked him?”
“No, I haven’t.” Everyone whined annoyed with Ace. “But I will. And also, I didn’t say that Usopp will be the director.” All eyes were again on Ace.
“Who will be then Ace?” Sabo hissed, waiting to hear whatever his brother had come up with.
“(Y/N).” Ace shortly answered.
“Who?” Law and Deuce asked at the same time, the name sounded familiar, but they couldn’t put the face to the name.
“You are kidding me, right? Is she even good? Have you seen any of her work at lease?” At this point Sabo started to have a headache. He knew who his brother was referring to. Sabo also saw the way Ace and this (Y/N) girl behaved around each other at the party, so it better not be what he thought it was.
“Yea, she is pretty good.” Ace quickly lied. He had never seen any of her work, he was taking a big risk suggesting that, he wasn’t even sure what gotten into him to even suggest it. But something in his gut was telling him that it would work, that it would be worth taking the risk.
“Ace, I swear to Go-“ Sabo got interrupted.
“Guys, guys.” Marco raised his voice. “This is serious, this would be your first video ever, it must be professional, and very well made, not some school project. I don’t care how good these kids are or not, we are hiring you professionals.” The rest of the guys agreed with Marco, but not Ace.
“Listen, I know that this sounds crazy but trust me on this one. Plus, if its turs out bad then we can go for a professional, okay?” Ace tried to fight back.
“Ace this will be waisted time, why don’t you understand this?” Marco took off his glasses massaging his eyes, Ace was the hardest to work with.
“Yeah! Ace this will cost double.” Sabo stood up and looked at Ace, crossing his arms over his chest.
“It won’t, believe me because it will turn out good, I have a good feeling for this.” Ace also stood up getting closer to his brother. “Come on, trust me on this one, when have I ever let you down?”
“How do you guys feel about this?” Sabo turned toward Law and Deuce.
“As long as its turs out good I don’t care who will film it.” Deuce said, as he only cared for the final product.
“How are you sure that they will even agree to do it Ace?” Law asked.
“I have a feeling, okay.” Ace snapped. “Look I will ask them, we meet with them and if our ideas don’t match, we don’t hire them for it, and we go with whoever Marco has in mind.”
“Okay, this works for me.” Law sighed, not at all in the mood to argue today.
“Ace..” Sabo hissed his finger pointed at his brother. “You- you better be right or else I will beat the shit out of you for this.” He turned around and angrily sat on the couch.
“Um guys, it’s me who has the final word here, remember?” Marco looked at all off them in disbelief.
“Marco, you make sure to speak with the right people to make this viral, we fix the rest.” Ace patted him on the shoulder and left without saying anything more.
“He is unbelievable to work with.” Marco threw his hands in the air looking at the rest of the guys who weren’t paying him much attention as well.

“Hey, Usopp. What’s up my man?” Ace said over the phone. It was around 6PM when he got home and decided to speak with Usopp, about the video.
“Chillin’ with Kaya at home, you?”
“Just got home and wanted to speak with you.”
“’bout what?” Usopp asked. Ace was close to all Luffy’s friends, Usopp was even one of them that he could call his own friend.
“How do you feel about you and your friends from uni, filming our first music video?” Ace got straight to the point.
“Ace, we are still learning, plus I’m not the best director.” Usopp was more than surprised by Ace’s proposition.
“I know, I know, but think about it wouldn’t that be a great opportunity for you and your friends?”
“It would definitely be, but again we barely started I don’t know how we would manage to do something as big as a music video for you guys. Plus, it will be your debut video why don’t you go for professionals, you surely ain’t that broke.” Usopp joked.
“It’s not about money.” Ace quickly responded. “I just want you guys to do it.”
“I don’t know Ace. I really don’t think that this is a good idea.” Usopp hesitate.
“You don’t need to be the director, someone else can be.” Ace was quick to add.
“(Y/N) is good, but I doubt that she will be down for it.” That was exactly what Ace needed to hear.
“Do you mind giving me her number, so I can speak with her?”
“Yeah, sure. But good luck, again I don’t think she will agree. But I will send you, her number.” Usopp huffed, knowing that (Y/N) would not agree, but still it wouldn’t hurt if Ace wanted to try. Before they hung up Ace thanked Usopp and waited for him to send the number.
******
My consultation went pretty fast, as my directing teacher was super pleased with my script, he gave me some advice on what I could possibly change to make it easier to film after, but other than this it went well. Before I got home, I stopped by our chill area as I saw some of my classmates. We talked for a bit, exchanging some ideas and jokes here and there. It was nice to know that I wasn’t the only one being so overly stressed for the short-cuts.
I got home and prepared myself something to eat. After it I sat down to make some last changes on the script before I submitted it. I sighed in relief, knowing that I was halfway done with this assignment, and all we have left was to film and then edit it. I was just hoping that the actors I have assigned for my movie would do their roles good.
I laid down on my coach trying to find something interesting to watch. I wasn’t sure what I was in a mood for. While searching for something to watch I could feel that my fatigue started to take over, as my eyes were slowly starting to close. I had fallen asleep when I heard my phone ringing. I looked at the screen and it was unknown number, usually I never pick up if I didn’t know who was calling. I looked at the time and it was almost 8PM. Exactly before whoever was calling hung up, I picked up the phone.
“What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” The voice on the other end said.
“What? I’m sorry who is calling?” I sat on the couch, rubbing my eyes.
“The answer that I couldn’t give you earlier, doll. ‘What’s Eating Gilbert Grape’ – that’s my favourite movie, or at least one I can say that I really liked.”
“Ace? How- How did you get my number?” I was fully awake now; how did he find my number.
“I have my ways.” He chuckled.
“Creep.” I snorted.
“Are you happy with my answer?”
“Surprised. But not a bad choice at all.”
“What are you doing, doll?” I could feel his smirk over the phone.
“Nothing, I had fallen asleep on the couch, you?”
“Oh, sorry for waking you up then.”
“It’s okay. Now how did you get my number?” I was curious to know how or who gave it to him.
“I told you; I have my ways.” His tone was so teasing. “But I’m actually calling for business not for chitchat.” Now that piqued my interest.
“What business?”
“How do you feel about directing a music video?” I was taken aback hearing this.
“Um, I have never done it so, I’m not really sure how I would feel. Why?” I was confused by this sudden question.
“I want you to direct our first music video.” Ace blurted out.
“What?” I shouted not expecting this at all.
“Please, don’t shout in my ears.” Ace laughed at my reaction.
“I’m sorry. But seriously, are you insane? I’m so new to all of this, like the whole filmmaking thing, and music videos are slightly different to shoot than films, so I can’t Ace, I’m sorry I-I can’t take such responsibility.” I quickly said, turning down his offer even thought it would have been such a great opportunity, but he must contact someone professional.
“Come on, doll. I believe in you, I’m sure you will come up with something great.” He chuckled, not giving up.
“Listen, Ace...” I took a deep breath. “I’m so flattered that you believe so much in me, but I’m not that good.”
“Please.”
“Ace.” I sighed.
“Please, doll. We don’t want something over the top, we need super simple video, so we can put out there, plus we will pay you. So, please consider it and give me a call back tomorrow, okay?”
“I don’t think that my mind will change but sure.”
“Thank you, doll. I will be waiting for your final decision.” He said before hung up.
I sighed once again, but this time loudly. Why? Why he wants me to do this? He hasn’t even seen my work, why he trusted me so much to a point where he wants me to direct his band’s first ever video. It’s not that it would be that hard, it’s more the fact that with this video they are establishing themselves officially as a band, and their overall look. The offer really piqued my interest, and my mind started to think about a possible video idea, but I forgot to ask him which song they were planning to film it for. I grabbed my phone and saved his number, before I texted him.
“Which song will be the video for?”
He replied shortly after: “Sweater Weather”
I opened Spotify and went to their profile. It was their most streamed song, so it was logical that they chose it for their debut music video. I played the song and started to create a storyboard in my mind. Ace didn’t give me much information, so I if I agree to do this, I have a lot of questions for him. Do they have a crew already, or I will have to think of someone to help me? Do they have something in mind that they will want us to recreate in the video? When do they want to film it? And so many more questions popped up in my head.
“Oh, Ace....” I sighed to myself.
********
“So, you gave him my number?” I turned to Usopp when we finished with our class for the day.
“Yeah, he called me and asked me if we want to shoot their video, but I turned him down, as I’m not very good with directing, but they he told me that it can always be someone else, and I mentioned you and he wanted to speak with you... so... what are you down for it?” Usopp looked at me, trying to read my face.
“Well, that’s the thing. Part of me wants to, but another one tells me that I lack the skills.”
“You know,” Nami interrupted our conversation. “Dave from year two has done some music videos before, why don’t you guys speak with him, he might help you.” She suggested.
“This is a very good idea, Nami. I didn’t know that.” I hugged her. “But, yeah I’m down only if you guys are?” I looked at them both.
“Oh, no. I have too many things to do because of the short-cuts, and my group sucks guys, so I’m out.” Nami quickly turned me down.
“I can be your D.O.P, but I will need a first assistant camera.” Usopp said.
“We can ask Dave, if he is up for it, he can help us.” I smiled at Usopp, happy that he was down for the job. “Otherwise, it will be just you and I.”
“I’m actually surprised that you are planning to do it.” Usopp was right, I was surprised by myself as well, Nami also agreed with him.
“I know, but I have an idea that I think it will match their band’s vibe very good, and it won’t be hard to film at all so I think it would turn out pretty well, if they like my idea as well.” Nami and Usopp were both aware that I was not the most confident person when it came to how talented and good I was with filmmaking. Even thought both had told me millions of times that I should believe in myself and my skills more, sometimes it was really hard, yet I was always down for a challenge.
“Does any of you have Dave’s insta or something, so I can text him?” I pulled out my phone opening Instagram, to search his name.
“Yeah, here.” Usopp showed me his phone so I can copy Dave’s username. I followed and texted him. It didn’t take him long to respond, saying that we can meet somewhere later and talk about it. We agreed on meeting for a drink around 7PM, so I had quite some time until then.
“Usopp, will you come as well?” I asked him before we say goodbye.
“Nah, I won’t be able to, Kaya and I already have plans.” He hugged me and Nami goodbye. “But keep me updated.” He said before he left.
“What are you doing tonight?” I asked Nami as we were walking towards the metro station.
“Going out with Luffy and Vivi, if you wanna join after you finish your meeting with Dave.”
“I will think about it, as I will have to speak with Ace after it.” I didn’t want to promise anything for later, as I might be too tired to go out. Nami smirked.
“What?” I looked at her suspiciously, as her smirk was quite mischievous.
“Mmm, nothing.” She just glanced at me, her smirk growing.
“You don’t get to tell me, nothing with this smug smile growing on your face.” I nagged her.
“Well... Ace, hu?” Her eyebrows wiggled playfully. “Did you two know each other before? I remember Usopp mentioning something.” She pushed me a little with her elbow.
“Oh no, no, nothing like this.” I brushed it off quick. “We met accidently that’s all, it was even that Friday when they were preforming at my uncle’s bar, so it was pure coincidence.”
“But Sabo told me he saw you going somewhere with him at the party two weeks ago, and then you left without saying anything and you weren’t speaking with us much after that...” She looked at me, trying to study my face if I was lying to her. “Did something happen? You know I will not tell anyone. I’m just concern and Ace... well, Ace is Ace.”  She chuckled.
“No, I swear nothing happened. We just talked for a bit inside and then we went somewhere, and I decided to go home.” I didn’t really lie to her, because all of this did happen, I just didn’t mention any details.
“Okay, I believe you if you say so.” Nami wasn’t fully convinced but decided to let it go. “But don’t fall for Ace or anything like that.” She added. “He is an amazing person, no doubt about that, but he is a womanizer, so for your own sake don’t cross this lines.” Her warning was valid, and this wasn’t the first time I heard this, but Ace and I already set that boundary anyway, so I didn’t need to hear it again.
“Don’t worry I don’t see him that way.” Now this time I lied, but my little crush on Ace was something Nami didn’t need to know.
********
I started to get ready around 5PM. I decided to wear something casually just a pair of flared dark blue jeans, with a black off shoulder blouse with a belt around the waist. I added some silver earing and quickly fixed my hair and makeup before checking the clock and to see what time it was. It was almost six, so I took my purse, put my black kitten heels and coat on, and left.
It took me around forty-five minutes to reach the place where we agreed to meet. It was a very nice and cozy jazz bar. I’ve never been to this place before, but just from the looks of it, it seemed like a place I wouldn’t mind coming to again. I looked around and I saw Dave sitting on a small table for two. I waved at him as he saw me.
“Hey, Dave thank you so much for meeting me.” I smiled at him as I was sitting down.
“No worries, the pleasure is mine.” He smiled back. “What would you like to drink?” Dave was super nice, I have spoken with him only twice so far and only in university, so I felt a little awkward right now.
“Just a glass of sparkling wine would be perfect.” I told him and he went to order for us. Dave was also a nice-looking guy. His hair was dark brown and full of curls, his jawline was sharp, and his beard was nicely shaved in a goatee style. He was dressed in a relaxed fit short sleaved black shirt and some linen white pants; he also had an earing on his left ear. Dave came back and handed me my drink with a smile. He sat back on his chair and we both shared an awkward laughed.
“So, music video, hu?” He said, flashing me another of his charming smiles.
“Yes, I got the offer last night, and I still haven’t accepted it, as it’s the band’s debut video, so I’m quite unsure if I should take the risk, you know?” I took a sip of the wine, glancing away from Dave.
“I know the feeling, don’t worry about it.” He reassured me. “Which band are you talking about?”
“‘The Neighbourhood’, you know them?” Dave shook his head. “Oh, you need to check them out, they are pretty good and growing popularity quite fast.”
“I will take your word on that.” He chuckled. “So how did they end up asking you to direct their video?”
“I’m a friend with the vocalist, and he really wants me to do it, as quote-unquote ‘he believes that I would do an amazing job’.” I waved my hands around in a question marks.
“That’s good, if you ask me - take the opportunity. Plus, I have heard that you are one of the tops of your class, and that you have quite a different vision from the rest so go for it.” Dave encouraged me.
“Yeah, ‘different’.” I shook my hands to my head, but Dave just looked at me confused, not getting the reference so I just brushed it off. “Um, I was wondering... would you like to help us? It will be just Usopp and I, and we will really appreciate it if we have a AC.” I bit my lip, looking at Dave from under my lashes.
“Well, depends on when you guys are filming, but sure.” He nodded, a coy smile forming on his lips. “But wouldn’t it be better if I’m your D.O.P as I have more experience with the camera than Usopp?” He made a very good point.
“Yes actually, you are right, we should do this instead.” I eagerly nodded as he also had experience with music videos. “And as for when we are shooting, I have no idea, I will call Ace later and hopefully he will give me more info.”
“That’s the lead singer, I guess?” Dave asked, hit of curiosity in his voice. I nodded with a smile in response.
“Now tell me more about your experience with music videos.” I playfully nagged him, as I was interested to know more about how things work with music videos. Dave started to tell me how even before he attended university, he had already done some music videos. Most of his friends were apparently musicians, and as amateurs they couldn’t afford to pay a professional photographer, so knowing about Dave passion with the camera they would always go to him. Time passed quite fast as we were talking, but we got interrupted by my phone, as I received some message.
“Don’t tell me you forgot about me, doll.” I read the message. I cursed myself as I totally forgot to text Ace today, but I wanted to speak with Dave first before I confirmed anything.
“Will you, please, excuse me for a second.” I told Dave, standing quickly from my chair and went outside to call Ace. The phone rang a few times before he picked up.
“Hey, doll.” His low raspy voice filled my ear.
“H-hey Ace. I’m so, so sorry for not calling earlier, I just wanted to check with a classmate from year two if he can help Usopp and me with the video.” I blurted out quickly as I felt embarrassed for making him wait for so long.
“So, I take this, as a ‘yes’ then?” His voice still low.
“Yes, I would love to film your video, Ace.” I whispered, my heart was beating fast against my chest, like I was making a deal with the devil or something close to this. The feeling hit me like a sudden wave, I couldn’t even explain it.
“Glad to hear this.” He whispered back. “What are you doing by the way?”
“I’m out with the classmate I told you about.” I cleared my throat.
“Date?” He teased me.
“No, no. We are talking about the video mostly.” I quickly explained myself. Ace laughed at my response. “What are you doing?” The question slipped my lips before I could stop myself.
“Chillin’ at home.” He hummed.
“Nice.”
“Mmm... if the date is bad I can always safe you, you know?” He joked.
“It’s not a date.” I whined at his comment.
“Sure, sure.” He mocked me again. “Well, wanna meet tomorrow with me and the guys to speak about the video?”
“Yes, this would be actually amazing if we can do this as soon as possible.”
“You got it. Send me your address I will come and pick you up.” A little smile twitched on my lips as he didn’t ask, he just stated it. “Bye, doll.” He quickly ended the call.
I slowly moved my phone from my ear, I could feel my cheeks burning and I quickly shook the feeling away. Opening my messages, I texted Ace my address and got inside the bar. Dave smiled at me as I sat down.
“So, what were we talking about?” I smiled back.
*******
I woke up around 9AM the next morning, as Ace was going to pick me around 10:30. I was tired as I stayed until late last night, creating a storyboard with pictures so they could easily understand what my idea was. I got up, brushed my teeth and made myself a quick breakfast before I got ready. After I did my makeup, I looked around my closet wondering what I should wear today. I set my mind on a flared jeans again and just a simple cropped white t-shirt. My phone vibrated, notifying me that I have a message.
“Here.” It was short and simple; I caught myself smiling at it. I quickly put on my snickers and jacket on, before grabbing my backpack with my laptop in it. I ran down the stairs and when I opened the building’s entranced door, I saw Ace leaned on a motorcycle. He was smoking a cigarette, head tilted on the side. Dressed in all black with a black leather jacket on. He quickly turned around when he heard the front door closing, blowing the smoke away and throwing the cigarette on the ground. When I stood in front of him, he straightened his posture, looking down on me he winked.
“Ready to go, doll?” He smirked at me, handing me a black helmet. I took it and looked at it, then the Kawasaki motorcycle behind him. It was all black and scary looking. I looked back at Ace and shook my head with a scary look in my eyes, handing him the helmet back. He hearty laughed at my reaction.
“Come on, don’t be a baby.” He nodded me to get on it, as he put the helmet on my head. “I got you, doll. Nothing to be scared off.” Ace reassured me as he got on it and waited for me to do the same.
“Ace, I swear to God, if you had told me, you were picking me on this thing I would have never agreed.” He laughed again at my comment as I was shaky getting on it.
“Hold on me tight.” He grabbed my hands and wrapped them around his torso. My poor heart was going to explode. Not only I have to be on this scary thing but on top of it I had to be this close to Ace. “Lean your body on my back.” He looked at me over his shoulder before putting his helmet. I just nodded in response, too scared to speak. Ace turned his bike on and the engine rumbled. I tightened my hold around Ace. I could feel him laughing as his body trembled in my arms. Then he took off. As he was driving, I started to think to myself how much the motorcycle suits him. With getting to know him more and more with every passing day him owning a bike was making a perfect sense. It was as wild and free as his spirit.
Twenty long minutes, we finally arrived where their studio was. Ace parked the motorbike and took off his helmet. He looked at me over his shoulder and chuckled.
“You know, you can let go of me now.” He teased me. I immediately released my grip and took of the helmet. “So how was your first every ride?” The smirk on his face growing bigger, as he saw my flushed and scared face.
“I made it alive, so I give it eight out of ten.” I quickly got off from it.
“Eight out of ten? What should I do to earn the other two stars?” He chuckled, his smile big.
“You drove too fast.” I crossed my arms across my chest.
“I drove fast?” His eyes widen in amusement. “Doll, I swear I have never, ever, driven my bike as slow as I did today.” His whole face was in disbelief.
“Next time even slower.” I pointed my finger at him.
“So, there will be next time?” He teased me with a smirk. I rolled my eyes at him, but I couldn’t hide the little smile that played on my lips.
Ace got off the bike and nodded me to follow him. We entered the building and went to the second floor. Ace opened the door to their studio for me, and I thanked him. Inside Sabo, his girlfriend Koala, and Law were already there.
“Hey you two.” Koala welcomed us with a smile. “Nice to meet you again (Y/N).” She came to hug me. Sabo nodded at me, and Law’s eye widen when he saw me, and I quickly looked away. It was nice to know at least that it was him and not Ace that night at the party.
“Where is Deuce?” Ace asked.
“He is coming, caught in traffic, Marco as well.” Sabo explained. “So, you will be our director?” I could feel the hint of doubt in his voice, and I understood why he would doubt me in a first place. I barely started to study; I was an armature with a capital ‘A’.
“A-as long as you like my idea – y-yeah.” I awkwardly shrugged.
“Well, better be good then.” His tone was quite serious and a little harsh.
“Sabo.” Ace snapped at him, glancing at his brother warningly. Sabo just huffed and looked at me again.
“Sorry (Y/N), I just want the video to be perfect.” His tone was a little softer now. I lowered my gaze to the ground and just nodded.
“You want to drink something?” Koala asked me nicely. I thanked her but denied her offer.
After ten minutes, Deuce and Marco walked in. Deuce greeted me, and Marco introduced himself to me with a handshake.
“So, you are the director that Ace is putting all his trust for the video on?” Marco patted me on the shoulder with a smile. I glanced at Ace, but he quickly avoided my gaze.
“I guess, I am.” I cleared my throat. “Let me take my laptop, so I can show you the plan that I made yesterday, you can disagree with everything or add things to it as well.” I felt my heart beating fast again, my anxiety starting to built up. I pulled my laptop from my bag and held it in my left hand towards them. “Please let me know if you can’t see something or if it’s not clear enough.” I took a deep breath and started to explain my idea for the video. “The video will be shot in a greyscale, mostly medium shots, with some close ups here and there. The vibe of the whole video should represent the general vibe of the EP itself, so taking the things you guys sing about in the song and the album in general, I suggest that we take some shots of them all together driving around Grand Line coats line in a vintage car, then walking around at a funfair, lounging in an apartment and walking along a beach.” I added at the end that if they were satisfied with the idea, we must shoot next Monday and Tuesday as we would need sunny weather. I patiently waited for their reaction. I looked at Ace, who was leaned on the wall, arms crossed over his chest, he just nodded at me and wink. I heard clapping and turned my head to see who it was.
“Bravo.” Sabo clapped standing up from the sofa. “I love it. And I’m surprised. Wow.” He had a big grin across his face.
“I like it, too.” Law said, nodding at me granting me his approval.
“Same, here.” Deuce added. Koala gave me the thumbs up with a big smile across her face.
“I like the idea as well, but I would like to add one small detail.” Marco said clapping his hands, looking at the guys. “It is romantic song after all, so we need to see some romance. So, I would like to suggest that we hire a model, and we have some scene with her and Ace.” Marco looked at me with raised eyebrows, expecting to hear my opinion on it.
“Y-yeah, o-of course.” I chuckled, nodding my head slightly. “As long as Ace feels comfortable with it, we can include it.” We all looked at Ace.
“Why me, tho?” He raised his eyebrow toward Marco. “Can’t Sabo do it with Koala? This will save us time and money.” He pointed out.
“Because you are the lead singer in the group Ace, and as one, the main focus is on you.” Marco explained short and clearly.
“Ha, Ace, since when you mind making out with models?” Deuce mocked Ace.
“I don’t, I’m just thinking if we are doing this on Monday and Tuesday, how we gonna find a girl so fast?” Ace rolled his eyes.
“Like you don’t know a hundred pretty girls.” Law snorted at him. Ace laughed at him and told Law to shut up. Marco interrupted them.
“Guys if you can’t find a girl, this is why I’m here for.”
“What you gonna dress up as a girl and make out with Ace?” Sabo joked and everyone burst out laughing at Marco.
“Of course not, but I can always contact a model agency.” Marco huffed, as much as these guys were talented, they were as much as hard to work with as well. “So, we make it possible, right?” He turned to look at me. I just nodded at him. “Perfect, I will contact you for the payment later and you sent me an email with what you would need for the set and what we should rent and whatsoever.” He handed me his business card and bit us all goodbye.
“Have you guys ever been in a video or something before?” I asked them as I was putting my laptop inside my bag. They all said ‘no’. “Well, better prepare as it will feel strange to see yourself on the screen.” I laughed a little.
“Have you done it yourself?” Deuce asked me.
“Yeah, and I hate it, that is why I prefer to be behind the camera.” I have always felt bad for the actors, as I knew it wasn’t easy at all for them to look at themselves on the big screen. I have done it a few times and I hated the feeling of seeing myself. The difference between a phone camera versus film camera was so big people had no idea. Even my father, till this day doesn’t feel comfortable to see himself, and he is pretty self-obsessed person. “Well, I will have to contact Usopp and Dave and let them know that we are doing it this Monday and Tuesday, I will have to go now as I will need to find locations where we could film without a problem.” I announced as I grabbed my bag and bit everyone goodbye.
“Wait, I will come with you.” Ace came after me.
“No need, I can do it alone.” I reassure him.
“I didn’t ask, doll.” He winked at me, closing the door behind us.
**********
We arrived at the west coastline beach after almost forty-minute ride. We got of his bike and Ace smirked when he locked at me.
“How was the ride this time?” Ace teased me.
“Honestly this time you could have driven faster.” I teased him as well.
“You little...” He hissed at me, biting the inside of his cheek as he shook his head.
“Hop, hop, we don’t have all day mister.” I clapped my hands and made him follow me. I started to take some pictures of where would be best for us to stand and shoot them driving by as we had to be careful with how fast they should move. Ace was quite polite to write down every note for me, and things that we would need. Then we went to look around at the funfair.
“Do you wanna get on one of the rides?” Ace whispered in my ear as I was taking pictures making mental notes to myself.
“Oh, I would love to, but now we have to work, so some other time.” I moved my head slightly as I answered him, not realising how close he was standing to me, only for our faces to end up millimetres apart. We both took a step away from the other quickly. Ace cleared his throat telling me that I was right, and we should focus on work.
Time passed so fast and before we know it the sun was setting. It was beautiful, the sky was coloured in light pink and purple, the waves were crashing softly, as today it wasn’t windy at all. Some people were sitting on the beach, others were running around or playing with there kids or dogs. It almost felt like a summer day even thought it wasn’t. We were walking on the beach, shoes in one hand as we were talking about random stuffs, it was so easy to open and speak with Ace. The comfort I felt around him was so strange and nice at the same time, something that I have never experienced with another person before.
“And how are you and Shanks related?” Ace asked, his eyes not leaving my face.
“Well, we are not blood related, let me clarify this first.” I waved my hands around. “But him and my dad have been like brothers since they were kids, so yeah. Ever since I can remember Shanks has been part of my life...” I paused for a second, swallowing the bitterness in my voice. “Especially after my mother left me and my dad, he literally became my second dad.” I exhaled the breath that I didn’t even realise I was holding.
“I’m sorry to hear this, doll.” Ace gave me a soft look, as he ruffed my hair. I pouted at him as I tried to fix it, and he chuckled. “Look at least, you grew up with a father that from what you’ve told me so far, loves you unconditionally.” His voice was so gentle when he told me this.
“Yes, I am lucky to have a father like him.” I smiled thinking of my dad.
“But... I don’t know if I should ask this or how...” Ace paused for a second, gathering his thoughts. “Why she left...?” He glanced at me, to make sure that he didn’t overstep some boundary. “Actually, don’t answer this forget about it.” He brushed it off quickly.
“No, it’s okay.” I shrugged, I felt like I could open about it to him. “She never wanted to be a mother in a first place, so after she gave birth to me, she got in a very deep postpartum depression, and it did take a big tool on her.” I paused for a minute. “My dad tried everything to help her, but she refused, and she turned to hard drugs, so... yeah my mother is a junkie.” I breath out, looking at Ace who was listening to me, but his gaze was lowered to the sand. “When I was around five, she just left a note that she doesn’t want to hear or see us anymore, and since then I have no idea where she is. My dad still cares for her, and I never really understood why, especially after all she put him through. I found a few years ago that he is her emergency contact, and I got mad about it, as she doesn’t deserve him. Last year she tried to contact me, but cut her off fast...” I bit on my lip, looking at the sand as Ace and I were walking in a silence for a moment. “But yeah, this is the short version.” I clapped my hands, dropping one of my shoes and picked it up. “Your turn now. I’m curious to know how you are all brothers, yet your last names are all different” I pushed Ace’s shoulder a little bit, causing him to chuckle.
“Well, we are not blood related at all.” Ace laughed when he saw my reaction.
“Wait, what? Even with Luffy? You two are like twins.” I couldn’t believe what I’ve heard.
“Yeah, I know it’s scary how much we look alike, but no, not related at all.”
“I’m really curious now, but if you don’t feel like speaking about it’s okay.”
“Nah, it’s fine. I can share a little bit.” Ace poked my side, and I giggled. He cleared his throat before he spoke. “My mom died when I was born, and my father has been killed a little before my mom gave birth to me, so I know nothing about my parents.” I saw his jaw clenching hard as the tone of his voice changed as well. “Then her sister, my aunt Dadan, took me and raised me.” He snorted, his tone sounded lightly but his face was giving him away. Sadness and pain were written all over it.  “Then she applied for a foster parent, and that is how Sabo came to the picture. As you know he is her favourite.” Ace looked at me tossing his hair aside the same way Sabo does all the time, and I couldn’t help but laughed. “Then the most annoying, gut wrenching, cry baby ever came into our home aka Luffy. God, I hated him from the bottom of my hear at first.” The way Ace was telling his story was heartbreaking, as he was trying to turn it into comedy so bad. My heart was aching for him. “Then some things happened and as of today, I can really say that Luffy is the only person I’m willing to give my life for.” The smile he had on his face when he was talking about Luffy was so pure and honest.
“I don’t know Luffy very well, but he does look like quite the pure soul.” I smiled at Ace as he nodded.
“You should definitely get to know him; he is the best.” Ace eagerly said his mood totally changed now. I felt my stomach growing and Ace looked at me. “Someone’s hungry, eh.”
“Yeah, I have only eaten a breakfast today.” I chuckled.
“I know a very nice Italian place here, wanna go and try it?”
“You don’t need to ask me twice.” We both shared a laughed and started to walk toward the restaurant.
********
The drive to my place took us almost an hour. A long and a very scary hour, as I had to ride on the back of Ace’s motorbike for a third time today. When he finally stopped in front of my place I relaxed on his body. We stayed like this for a minute – my hands wrapped around his torso and as I was leaned on him, and he had his hands on my knees. He was he first one to take of his helmet, running his hand around his messy hair. I pulled away from him, taking my helmet off as well. Ace looked over his shoulders at me.
“You had fun today, doll?” His eyes half lidded; he seemed a little tired.
“I did.” I smiled at him, getting off from the bike. He nodded with a smile at my response. “We see on Monday then. Thank you for the rides, and the dinner by the way.” I added, but Ace brushed me off.
“Please, that’s nothing.” He winked at me, pinching my cheek. I scrunched my nose at him, and he laughed at me. “Well, see you on Monday, doll.” He went to put back his helmet before I stopped him.
“Wait, Ace.” I grabbed his hand, as he lowered it and looked at me, raising his eyebrow. “You were the only one who didn’t say anything about the video idea... did you not like it?” My hand still on his, he just gave it a little squeeze and smiled at me.
“I loved it, doll.” Then he went on and put his helmet on. “Now go home.” He ordered me. I nodded and turned around to go. As I opened the front door, I waved at him one more time, as he was waiting for me get in safe, before he drove off.
************
I woke up at 6AM on Monday, as we were going to our first location at 8AM. Yesterday Usopp, Dave and I spent the whole day making the floorplan and the storyboard based on the pictures I took on Saturday at the locations. I sent the call sheet and a list of things we need for the shooting. Marco surprised me so much by how fast he arranged and found everything that we would need for the shoot. I quickly dressed myself in a pair of baggy jeans and oversized hoodie. I put some day cream and mascara on as I didn’t have much time to get ready, and received a text from Usopp that him and Dave were downstairs. We were going with Dave’s car as the west coastline was an hour drive away. I quickly put my sneakers on and left. Usopp and Dave greeted me when I opened the passenger door.
“Ready to film your first music video?” Dave charmingly smiled at me. I nodded with a smile. “Good, we got you some coffee.” Dave said, and Usopp handed me one, him sitting on the backseat.
“Are you guys ready? It’s going to be a long day.” I took a sip of my coffee, hating the taste of it as always. They both nodded and we drove off. Usopp was in charge of the music in the car, so we had a fun ride. We arrived on time and started to unload the equipment Marco rented for us, as he wanted the best quality for the video. Law and Deuce were the first ones to arrive. I spoke with them on the side while Usopp and Dave were fixing the camera.
“Do you know when Ace and Sabo are coming?” I asked them, as I wanted everything to go according to the time schedule.
“Yea, they will be here soon.” Law replied.
“They had to go and take the car that Marco rented for today.” Deuce explained to me. While we waited for them, I explained a little bit to Law and Deuce what I would need them to do while we film. After fifteen minutes we heard a honk. We all turned around and saw Ace and Sabo driving slowly towards us in a very nice 1969 Mercedes-Benz. Sabo was the one behind the wheel, and Ace was chilling on the passenger seat. They parked and got out of the car.
“Yo, what’s up people, you liking my ride?” Sabo pointed at the car. “I will be the one driving it, keep this in mind.” He squinted his eyes at Law and Deuce giving them a warning look. “How is the director doing?” He gave me a hug which surprised me.
“I’m doing good, thanks. You, Sabo?” He gave me the thumbs up and went to speak with Usopp and Dave. “Hey, Ace.” I waved at him as he was standing next to the car, smoking a cigarette.
“Hey, (Y/N).” He gave me a little smile, but I tilted my head and raised my eyebrow at him. What happened with ‘doll’? I walked up and stood in front of him.
“Are you okay?” I was concerned, was he in a bad mood or something. Ace looked at me confused, moving his head on the side blowing the smoke away.
“Yeah? Why?” He chuckled. I blinked a few times and shook my head.
“Nothing, just... just checking on you.” I murmured. “Are you excited to start shooting?” I bounced on my heels, as I waved my hands in the air. Ace laughed at me as he took another puff of his cigarette.
“I think you are the most excited among all of us.” He smiled at me.
“(Y/N)! Can you come, please?” Dave shouted, him and Usopp needing me to help them. I mouthed a quick ‘sorry’ to Ace and went to check on them.
After twenty minutes we were ready to start shooting. I explained to the guys what I would need them to do for the first scene we were shooting and they all nodded understanding my instructions.
“Oh, and one last thing when we shoot a take, I will be most likely first check with Dave and then with you guys and it’s technical stuffs, so don’t think you are doing a bad job, okay.” I gave them the thumbs up, and we were ready to start. The first scene we were shooting was of them driving down the street, we shoot it from five different angles, and we were switching between medium to medium close-up shots. It took us around an hour and a half to be done with this. Then we drove besides them in the same speed so we could catch a better close-ups of them in the car. We finished around lunch time, so we decided to take an hour break. I wasn’t hungry, as when I’m working, I get too focused on the task that I skip meals, so instead I wanted to go and take some shoots of the buildings around us and the palms.
“You guys go, and remember we will meet at the funfair entrance, okay?” I said as I picked the camera stand under my arm and the camera case I was holding in my other hand.
“Don’t tell me you are not going to eat.” Ace scolded me.
“I want to take some shoots of the buildings around, so we don’t waste time later and I’m not hungry, so you go guys.” I reassure him. He was going to protest when Dave interrupted him.
“I will come with you (Y/N). I don’t want you to carry all of this by yourself.” He came next to me and took everything from my hands.
“Are you sure, Dave?” I didn’t want to take from his time of the break as he was already doing too much by helping me and Usopp.
“Of course, I am. Come on, I’m following you.” He gave me a coy smile and I nodded. I waved the guys goodbye for now, everyone else waved too, except Ace. He side-eyed me and shook his head before following the guys. I frowned confused as of why he did this. I nodded to Dave to follow me, and we started to walk. The hour went fast, but luckily thanks to Dave’s experience we captured everything I had in mind. Dave was fun to hang around with. We were laughing and joking the entire time.
“So, you want me to handheld the camera when we shoot at the funfair?” He asked me again, making sure that he understood correctly.
“Yes, exactly.” We went back to his car to leave the camera stand as we wouldn’t need it anymore.
“Have I done something bad to you?” He joked with me, and I giggled at his expression. Doing a handheld shoot was probably the worst thing for the cinematographer. I messed around with him and squeezed his bicep.
“Nah, Dave, I think you can handle it perfectly.” I winked at him, and we both laughed. We started to walk towards the funfair where we were meeting the guys next. When we reached the entrance, everyone was already there. “Hello, again guys. Hopefully you had a nice break, as now we are back to work” I gave them a big smile, Sabo and Deuce cheered, Law just nodded, and Ace’s face was unreadable. I cleared my throat and explained to them that right now they just need to have fun, and we will try our best to capture everything that we would need for later when editing. Usopp and Dave were switching every few minutes, so their hands didn’t get too tired. I was having quite lot of fun with them and so did the guys, at least it seemed like it. Ace and I locked gazes a few times, but he was the one who broke it first every time. Was he mad at me for something? I tried to shake this feeling away and focus on my main priority right now.
“And it’s a wrap.” I shouted and everyone clapped.
“Uh, I hate you (Y/N).” Dave smirked at me as he took off the camera from his shoulder and gave it to me so I can check the last footage we shoot. I stuck my tongue out at him, and he chuckled at me. Usopp came next to me to check the footage as well.
“Do you guys want to see it?” I looked at them four, but they shook their heads.
“We want to wait and see the finished material.” Sabo exclaimed.
“Okay, then we see you all tomorrow at...” I turned to Usopp as he knew the call sheet better than me.
“3PM, the attic apartment Marco rented for the day. You have the address on the call sheet. Also, Ace should I contact the girl that’s coming tomorrow and give her the info, or you will do it?” I have totally forgot about this part, a little pang of jealousy grew inside of me, but then I remind myself ‘no lines to be crossed’.
“I will be picking her up, so I will take care of this.” I bit the inside of my cheek when he said that. I gave him a quick glance and I saw a little smirk playing on his lips.
“By the way, who did you ask?” Law raised his eyebrow at Ace with curiosity.
“Samantha.”
“Wasn’t she pissed at you for ditching her at the Halloween party?” Sabo mocked his brother.
“Not anymore.” Ace snorted. I cleared my throat and turned to the guys who were messing with each other.
“Well, then guys.” I clapped my hands and put my fake smile on. “Thank you for today and see you tomorrow then.” I avoided looking at Ace while waiting for Usopp and Dave to put everything back in the case. Once they were ready, we all said goodbye and went back to Dave’s car.
“That was fun, can’t wait for tomorrow.” Usopp exclaimed once we were in the car.
“Yeah, these guys are fun to work with.” Dave agreed with him. “Hey, are you okay? You seem a little down.” Dave observed my face. I recomposed myself and smiled at him.
“Yes, yes, I am. Just a little tired.” He patted my back gently, believing what I told him. We drove off and I leaned on my head on the window. Tomorrow was going to be an even longer and tiresome day. I closed my eyes for a second and I fell asleep in the car.
********
“Everything set up?” I asked Usopp and Dave.
“Yes, it’s all done.” Dave nodded at me. I breath out as I looked at the band.
“Where is Ace?” One thing I would never tolerate was someone being late on set, without notifying anyone. And Ace was almost forty minutes late.
“He is coming, maybe he is in traffic or something.” Sabo tried to defend his brother.
“You know what guys, lets start shooting.” I clapped my hands. “Which one of you wants to be filmed first as we will roll some close-ups?”
“I can do it.” Sabo volunteered. I nodded and gave them some instructions as it would be easier if they interacted between each other even though the camera would be focused mostly on Sabo.
An hour later Ace finally showed up with his arm wrapped around the shoulders of the girl, which I guess was named Samantha.
“Sorry guys for being late.” He bit us a quick apology. I didn’t even look at him as I was so pissed. “This is Samantha, and she will be helping us for today so be nice.” She giggled at his introduction, and she waved everyone ‘hello’. Usopp and Dave greeted her, as they introduced themselves by shaking hands with her. She came to me reached her hand for a handshake. We shook hands and I bit her a quick ‘hello’.
“At least, you aren’t the only girl now.” She smiled at me; I nodded at her and returned the smile. She was beautiful – tall, blonde, with a very nice body; she was like a real-life Barbie. I cleared my throat.
“Well now that everyone is here, we need to take a master-shot of you guys, then some medium and the last thing we will do is the close-up of Ace and his scene with Samanta, clear?” My tone was quite serious.
“Can’t we take mine and Samantha’s first?” Ace asked me and I finally glanced at him. He had this smug look on his face, that pissed me off even more, but I kept my composure and answered him with a smile.
“No, Ace we can’t. Why we can’t, you may wonder? Because we waited for you for almost two hours, so now you will have to wait, am I clear?” The smile might have been on my face, but my tone was sharp and clear that he shouldn’t mess with me right now. He just smirked and nodded, not saying anything further. “Then let’s start rolling.” I clapped and explained what they should do now for the master. Two hours later we were done with it and only Ace and Samantha’s scenes were left to shoot.
“Thank you, guys so much. It was so nice to work with you. We don’t need you in the rest of the pictures but it’s up to you if you want to stay here or go and do whatever you want.” I spoke to Sabo, Law and Deuce.  Sabo came and hugged me as he thanked me and said he can’t wait to see the final result. Deuce did the same, and Law just high-fived me. They bit goodbye to the rest and left.
“So, according to the story board we have two close-ups left and one medium close-up of the two of them.” Dave came to me and spoke over my shoulder. I looked up at him and nodded. “Which one should we take first? Hers or his?”
“Let’s take hers first.” I nodded at him. “Hey, Samantha.” I called her, as she was standing in front of Ace, as they were obviously flirting with each other. She turned to face me, looking at me a little confused. “Sorry for interrupting your conversation, but we need to take some shots of you alone, so I will need you to stand next by the window and then on the couch.” She quickly did as I told her to, and we started to roll. It didn’t take us long to shoot her angles only around twenty minutes. I thanked her, and then turned to Ace. He was looking at me, face unreadable again. I clenched my jaw as today he was really walking on my nerves.
“It’s your turn Ace.” I called him. He pushed himself from the wall and came closer to me.
“So, what do you need from me, director?” His tone was light, but his face was like a stone. I bit the inside of my cheek before answering him.
“The same as her.” I gave him the shortest answer possible. He nodded and stood next to the window. There was this built-up tension between us, Dave looked at me raising his eyebrow. I shook my head at him like everything was fine, and he slowly nodded. We had to readjust the camera as Ace was quite tall. We started to roll, and I couldn’t take my eyes of the screen. He did look very good in front of the camera; I couldn’t deny him that. The way his hair was falling around his face, his freckles, his dark brow eyes and his full lips, he will definitely sweep away many harts once they become known name. “And cut.” I softly said moving my gaze from the screen to him. Our eyes locked, but I locked away.
“Okay, let’s move to the last scene we have to film and it’s a wrap after it.” I cleared my throat before looking at Samantha waving at her to join. “Now I need you to get closer to each other, and the most important thing is that Samantha feels comfortable with whatever you guys spoke about doing, so the moment you feel slightly uncomfortable we cut on the second, okay?” I locked at her seriously, as I didn’t want to put any woman in a position where she might feel uncomfortable on set.
“Oh, you don’t need to worry (Y/N), I know Ace very well.” She winked at me mischievously. I shared a fake laughed with her, but good thing she didn’t catch it.
“Okay, so whenever you guys are ready, just let us know and we will start to roll.” I stand between Dave and Usopp. “And action.” I called. Samantha went and laid down on the couch, taking Ace’s hand in hers, making him hoover over her. She ran her hands up and down his back, up to his neck, pulling him closer to her. Then she buried her fingers in his hair. She pulled him even closer as she pulled herself up a little. They were inches away from kissing each other, and I bit the inside of my cheek, my hands squeezed in a fist. I couldn’t watch this any further.
“Cut.” I called out. Everyone locked at me confused. “What?” I smiled innocently at them.
“Why did you cut?” Samantha asked me and frowned when Ace pulled up from her. I could see his smug smirk on his face. I moved my attention back to Samantha and with a smile I replied to her.
“Because we have it, it’s perfect, you can check it out if you want.” I suggested looking at the footage again.
“It’s pretty good.” Dave reassured her.
“Well, you are the professionals, so if you say it’s good, I believe you, but still, I want to see.” I moved aside so she could look at the screen. “Oh my, Ace.” She squeaked excitedly, looking at Ace. “We look so hot; you should see that.” Ace made a grimace and shook his head. I covered my mouth to suppress my laughter. Ace saw me and rolled his eyes at me, which lighted up my mood. I calmed myself and announced that we were done.
“It’s a wrap guys.” Dave and Usopp cheered, and Samantha clapped her hands. Ace only nodded. “Thank you so much for the opportunity, Ace.” I was still pissed at him, but at the same time grateful. “I should edit it by Friday and when it’s done, I will send it to Marco.” I told him as we started to pack the equipment.
“No need to thank me, (Y/N).” Ace patted me on the shoulder, before he nodded to Samantha to get going. She wished us good night and they left. The bitter feeling of jealousy came back. I couldn’t deny it, but also there was no point of me being jealous. He was just my friend, a friend who was walking on a thin ice around my nerves, nothing more or less.
“Well-done guys, well-done.” Usopp high-fived me and Dave. “I can’t wait to see how it will turn our after you edit it (Y/N).” He exclaimed excitedly.
“You know if you need help with the editing, you can always call me.” Dave added, coming closer to me.
“I think I will manage, but I will keep this in mind.” I smiled at him. “Let’s pack these faster guys, I’m starving, and I really want to go home.”
**********
I was laying in bed; it was almost midnight, and I couldn’t fall asleep. I was tossing and turning in bed for the past hour and a half. Ace was stuck in my mind, and that scene between him and Samantha. On top of it, the whole ‘Me and Ace know each other good’ was like on repeat in my mind. Knowing that I will have to edit and look at the footage of it was eating me from the inside. And what was with his attitude in the past two days? I swear Ace from Saturday and Ace from the past two days, were two completely different people. My phone vibrated. I grabbed it and I sighed loudly as I read the message on the screen.
“Did someone step on your tail today, doll?”
I hesitated if I should reply. The audacity this man has.
“Yea, someone who was almost two hours late.” I angrily typed and sent. Not even a minute later he replied.
“Sorry, about that doll ;(” I just left him on seen. “I would love to be the first one to see it btw” he sent a second message.
“I will think about that” I replied.
“Don’t be mad at me, doll” I just looked at the message from the notification banner and didn’t even mark it as seen. Also, the ‘doll’ thing was back, not that I wanted him to call me this, especially in front of everyone else, but I kind of got used to him calling me that. I turned on the TV to watch something that would hopefully put me to sleep. ‘Fucking Ace’ I cursed under my breath.

Warnings: fem reader, swearing, reader is mad at Zoro, SFW
Word count: 1.7k
Summary: In which you overhear Zoro talking badly about you.
Notes: This is also my bird!reader but decided to take another rote with this one idk this is literally just my one piece self insert just wanted to write about them
˚ʚ♡ɞ˚
PT2 ➜
You were not the kind to fall slow, you’ll fall completely flat, rough and knowing it’ll probably hurt badly, not even stretching your hands to stop the fall, pouring your whole heart and soul
You’ll fall hard
The moment you saw Zoro Roronoa you knew you were doomed, falling for someone like him was gonna be a huge problem not only because he so happened to be part of the pirate crew you were asked to join, but because you quickly picked up he wasn’t a feelings kind of guy, he was stoic and closed up like a big old book with a even bigger lock
But one day the feelings for the swordsman that had bloomed in your heart were quick to wither and rot, after overhearing a conversation between him a some other members of the crew
“I don’t know why you invited her Luffy” Zoro scoffed “An archer is useless we already have Usopp he’s a good shooter, and her powers are ridiculous”
Your heart sinked at every word that left Zoro’s mouth, after feeling rejected your whole life and thinking you had finally found a place where you belonged, you’re proven wrong once again
“Don’t say that Zoro!” Luffy defended which made you smile a little “She’s not only that! Y/n is this very powerful warrior and turning into a bird is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen!” He sounded excited, at least your captain liked you
Zoro’s silence was like a dagger going through your poor heart, holding your breath in hopes he’ll answer and say that he was wrong, but instead your ears catch Sanji’s mischievous laugh
“Don’t tell me you feel threatened by such a gorgeous lady mosshead”
You were thorn between running away or pull yourself closer to the door to listen, but Zoro made that decision for you after hearing a muffled thud followed by his loud screaming
“Shut up! I’m going to be the world’s greatest swordsman I am never intimidated specifically by some stupid bird you dumb cook!” You stood outside the door, hurt and angry, you thought Zoro would be different from the men in your island, always overlooking you and judging your abilities for reasons you couldn’t control
After this incident you decided to avoid the green haired pirate completely, if he already was hard to talk to, whenever you were tasked to do something together you kept your mouth shut, always training opposite sides of the Merry and answering him coldly. Everyone picked up on your change in behavior, the contrast between how you treated literally everyone else, even strangers, compared to Zoro was palpable, your whole aura shifted at the sight of him
But as upset as you were, you two made perfect fighting partners. Those were the only times when you’ll put your pride aside, after all you were a professional and valued the place Luffy had offered you in the crew, and as much as you hated to admit it, Zoro was an exceptional swordsman.
After some time, the stoic man had warmed up to your presence, he now respected you since he saw you were not only capable but complemented him in battle like no one else in the crew. Everything he knew about you was only things he’ll pick up when you would chat with others or little antics and traits he’ll put attention to, but it was enough to trust you and have a real read into your character
“Why do you always avoid me?” Zoro asked one time while you both walked back to the Going Merry, he had gotten lost again, and you were the assigned Zoro’s compass since you were able to fly around and find him easily, which you didn’t quite enjoy especially now that he decided to instigate whatever had happened between you two
You scoffed “Where did you get that idea from?”
“Everyone notices how mean you are to me and I am not blind” mean, that word lingered like poison in your ears, you were the kind of person to always try be the best version of yourself, being patient and understanding, so hearing Zoro calling you mean felt unfair
“I have my reasons” the green haired pirate noticed your body language change completely, you stiffened and your breath quickened, fist clenching. This wasn’t exactly the direction he wanted this conversation to go but he wasn’t quite good at talking
“How dramatic” he whispered but loud enough so you’ll hear him, already giving up in a peaceful chat
You stopped in your tracks anger boiling up and reaching your tongue immediately “Oh fuck off” Zoro’s eyes widened, he had never heard you swear let alone seen you this angry before
“You can go ahead and call me whatever you want, but you don’t know me Zoro” there you stood in front of this man that doubled you in size, eyes that froze him in place, your face was red with fury and the tension could be seen from a mile away. The swordsman backed up slowly, was he feeling threatened?
“But if you did, you’ll know I know better than to talk shit behind my crewmates back” in a swift move you morphed into your bird form, not wanting to continue the conversation and soared the skies, high enough so he could still follow you back
No one had ever stood up to Zoro that way before, he silently walked under you a million thoughts going through his head at once, what did you meant about talking shit about another crewmate? I mean of course he would talk shit but nothing ever serious, but again, how could you know if he barely even said hi to you?, a little guilt settled on him, maybe he was the mean one after all
Curiosity tickled him as his mouth opened and without thinking twice he screamed your name in hopes you’ll fly back down, after a little thinking you did, perching on a nearby tree before chirping at him
“Can you like… not… be a bird?” You made what it seemed to be an angry sound before morphing back to your original form while soaring down, landing in front of him arms crossed brows furrowed
“I don’t talk to assholes” you had always been the bigger person your whole life, so acting petty maybe wasn’t your style but really you didn’t cared enough what Zoro would think of you, after all you still seemed to think he viewed you as useless
“You still haven’t answered my question” his tone shifted, you had started to annoy him, he hated people that aren’t straightforward “I don’t know you you’re right, but maybe if you allowed me to we wouldn’t be here in the first place”
“I know you didn’t wanted me in the strawhats” you blurted out, knowing he wouldn’t drop the matter before arriving back to the ship and wanted to avoid everyone hearing you “You think I’m ridiculous and useless” that came out way shakier than you wanted to, finally showing how hurt you actually felt “My whole life I’ve been underestimated, I’m a woman and my powers are always taken as a joke, my abilities never recognized just because of how I look and who I am, when I joined you guys I thought I could leave that behind…”
The swordsman felt a knot forming on his throat, feeling absolutely unequipped for this situation and mostly, guilty, guilty he had ever made you feel something remotely close to this. It was true, when you first joined he didn’t quite agreed on Luffys decision but after all he was the captain, but you had proven him wrong showing your hard work and talents. For a moment you reminded him of someone he had cared for long ago, which made this whole fiasco even worse, feeling terrible he couldn’t even mutter a response, only standing before you absolutely bare.
“I am not asking you to be my best friend in the world, just for respect and some trust, at least the same one you give everyone else” ouch, your words as soft as they left your lips felt sharp, cutting onto Zoro’s ears.
You search his features for a reaction, an expression, anything, but he was unreadable still a stranger to you. Regret simmered in your gut, maybe should’ve kept your thoughts to yourself
Before you could walk away any further from him, Zoro gripped your wrist forcing you to stay and look back at him
“I actually think you’re pretty skilled for a bird” he offered you a small lopsided smile to try and freshen the mood which you were thankful for “You’re a fearless fighter, and more capable than others in the crew, If I ever made you think any different I apologize”
A breath you didn’t know you were holding escaped your lips, grateful he wasn’t actually an ass like you had painted him to be
“You gotta watch your mouth Roronoa” you smirked back “Could’ve lost your perfect fighting partner” you pulled yourself out of his grip and walked towards the Merry
Zoros laugh ringed in your ears, something you never thought you’ll hear, at least between only you two “This means you’ll stop training by yourself and finally join me? Or are you too scared?”
A heavy weight lifted from swordsman’s shoulders, finally able to bond with you and solving the never ending mystery the haunted him because contrary to your beliefs, he always noticed the distance you drew between you and him, it ate him alive. But now, you could finally see yourselves in your true colors, enjoy your time together and grow closer
“Yeah like you scare me” you pushed him playfully a smile tugging on your lips “If you wanted to train with me so bad should’ve just asked”
Zoro rolled his eyes “Don’t get too cocky birdie, I could destroy you in a sparring session anytime”
Slowly but surely, the swordsman had once again found his way into your heart, the garden that once withered grew strong once again, and little did you knew that you had also made love bloom in his, but that was a problem to deal with another time

I think the thing that’s most compelling for me about the live action iteration of Luffy is that they’ve stripped away all the expectations of the Shonen Protagonist.
Right away they let him have some character growth and vulnerability that we didn’t get from the manga until several dozen or hundred chapter in! He’s allowed to be indecisive and to make the wrong call and to NOT know what to do and to get comfort and reassurance and advice from his friends!!!
Everything goes to shit - Zoro is mortally wounded by Mihawk - and after they drag Zoro’s bleeding body into the galley, Usopp is running around looking for the first aid kit and Nami is trying to staunch the bleeding and Luffy completely detaches himself from the moment because it’s more than he can process! He never for a moment thought Zoro would lose and here are the consequences. Nami has to call his name several times before he can even answer her! And even when he runs into the Baratie’s kitchen, he’s so flustered and upset that he’s nearly incoherent and the pathetic way he says “My friend is dying” is absolutely heartbreaking!
It’s such an interesting take to see so early on, because the few instances in the manga where Luffy has lost a fight or not know what to do or royally fucked up have been because he didn’t understand the situation or he wasn’t properly motivated, etc. His authority as captain and the whole “playing at pirates” thing isn’t even something that gets called into question until WATER 7, and it’s Zoro who calls him out because he’s so ready to forgive Usopp.
To do it NOW? During the East Blue arc???
To have it be Nami who tells him he’s shit at his job and that he Needs to take it more seriously because Zoro is DYING??
I’m frothing at the mouth about it tbh because Luffy takes that shit to heart - because it’s after this confrontation that Nami LEAVES. Luffy says it himself when he’s talking to Zoro while he’s unconscious. HE lost the grand line map, HE lost Nami, and HE feels responsible bc he might lose Zoro too!
All those failures - all that guilt - bothers the hell out of him and we get to SEE that!
Part of Manga Luffy’s charm apart from his emotional intuition is that he’s a lil fuckin bulldozer and he’s so arrogant and selfish and that head is empty zero thoughts 98 percent of the time - to soften those harder (arguably less palatable) traits and make live action Luffy just so fucking earnest and thoughtful and intelligent is such an incredible take I’m just obsessed with it! I’m eating it up!!! Bc he’s still LUFFY at his core!
He’s goofy and smiley and charming and fun and happy and easygoing and he’s dumb as hell and he’s constantly hungry and he loves to fight and he’s KIND and he sticks up for other people and he believes in himself!
He believes in other people’s dreams!
He doesn’t think you should let anything or anyone stand in your way!
He cares so much about his friends and he LOVES them and he’d die for them in a heartbeat!
But he’s also allowed to have a fucking panic attack when his friend is literally bleeding to death and oh boy do I love to see it!

Hi I’m in love with your work , I was wondering would it be alright to request yandere Lunami team work/poly x female heiress reader who paying the straw hats to take her far , far away from her fiancé who wishes to marry her to take all her fortune , but reader doesn’t expect to attract the future pirate king or his navigator attention , who aren’t taking a no for answer
A Heiresses Protectors~
Your kingdom was a very sacred place to you, a place you called home in which you grew up. So when a war broke out in your country with some very strong foes you knew you couldn’t handle alone you knew you needed help. Especially since you had to very far to the place where you can be safe and work out your plan..
Helplessly wondering the seas you finally came across the straw hats! A weird but somewhat charming group of pirates who didn’t hesitate to help you. You were absolutely ecstatic and paid them enough to last them months as you presumed, just to take you away from your fiancé. You absolutely felt so grateful but..their Navigator and Captain acted somewhat strange towards you..
.
.
.
.
The wind blew with a somewhat warm and cool breeze at the same time while you braided your hair on deck. You couldn’t help but admire their ship and the giant lion on it..which they called the sunny. While you were braiding your hair you were telling stories about your kingdom. The place that you called home and had countless of memories at.
Usopp,Luffy and Chopper were the ones who listening very intently with their eyes sparkling. You couldn’t help but notice the strange gleam in Luffy’s eyes however whenever you talked about a little thing. He could honestly spend hours upon hours just holding a exciting conversation with you on how him and his crew were going to “kick those jerk’s asses”
Zoro on the other hand was just laying down on deck in the sun. His eyes closed and obviously very relaxed. You couldn’t really tell if he was sleeping though..
Continuing on with your stories about your kingdom you wore a bright smile on your face as you excitedly told the three about what you did, how you lived and how beautiful your home was. Luffy then and again would ask questions and chuckle or grin at every word you said while you glanced out at the sea every once and a while. Then, a certain part of one of your stories involved mentioning your fiancé..it was like they didn’t really care much on how he just wanted your fortune..they seemed to only be upset about the fact that you were going to be with someone else other then them..
The crew knew about then and their plan to just marry you for their fortune and showed obvious concern and anger for you like any reasonable person would. Nami and Luffy were different about the subject though…one could say….sensitive..?
Luffy’s face scrunched your when you even mentioned their name and you saw his face darken with a slight frown. Now that you think about it Nami’s mood would definitely..darken whenever they was mentioned.
Speaking of the Navigator though she was walking towards you with a smile and a gleam in her big brown eyes, her long orange hair flowing through the wind as the waves crashed against the sunny. Your lips curved into a soft smile when he she stood in front of you, Hand on her hip.
“Hey Nami! I thought you were drawing your map in your office?” You said softly while trying to ignore the feeling of eyes staring right into your skull. You knew it was Luffy but said nothing about it to be rude of course..
The woman with with the bikini top smiled at you and sat down next to you, running a hand through your hair and getting a bit in your space. “Oh yeah..I decided to take a little break!…are these idiots bothering you?” She asked with a laugh as Ussop, Chopper, and Luffy all said “hey!!” In unison. You giggled and smiled.
Nami then wrapped an arm around you waist as she turned to you. “Oh! And Y/N, I forgot to mention that I moved our beds together in the women’s cabin..” she said softly like it didn’t matter. You thought it did though because you barely got any privacy on the ship with the captain and navigator around..
Nami would always have you in her office, since you didn’t help out with the maps she was making and her work you just liked to draw in her company. Luffy on the other hand just seemed to like making you the judge of all his silly games he played with chopper and ussop. He always got a bit upset when you picked one of them over him to win or were on their team. So, the only reasonable thing to do was use his position as captain to get you on his side!
He didn’t just do that with games though..
anytime any of the others would make plans or try to have activities with you those two would almost go livid. Luffy guilt tripping you without even realizing it and Nami ether hitting them comedically or just straight up showing how annoyed she was and grabbing your hand while making excuses on why you should go with her and no one else besides her and luffy.
You blinked and held your breath for a moment. “Y-You moved our beds together nami..? Why did you do that?..” you asked while smiling nervously. Luffy then butted in with a grin and a chuckle. “I asked her to! We didn’t want you to get cold at night or anything bad happening to you..so Nami can keep you all warm and safe shishi!!” He laughed while wrapping his stretchy arms around your waist tightly and laying big his head on your shoulder.
They both seemed to notice the uncertain and uncomfortable look in your eye, both turning to you they still held their smile and tightened their grip on you. You could feel Luffy’s dark black hair tickle your thighs as he looked up at you and Nami’s log post against your arm.
“Your okay with it right..?”
You felt a chill run down your spine as you almost shivered from their look..even though they were still smiling somewhat brightly at you, they had this look in your eye..a look alone that terrified you..
“Yes of course..t-that’s fine with hah..” you laughed nervously as to not displease them..making them mad wasn’t the best choice for…
Multiple reasons you suspected.
A few hours had passed ever since you “good” news about being protected at night. You were currently in Nami’s office, reading a book the Robin let you borrow quietly while Luffy was laying his head in your lap and talking your ear off while eating some meat, another one of his adventures he was talking about and you couldn’t help but glance at Nami who was working on one of her maps.
A smile on her face formed whenever Luffy hugged you tighter or mentioned you like you were one of his crew members.
You honestly just couldn’t wait until you could go back home..away from the very much possessive and bit obsessed Navigator and Captain you’ve encountered.
What a surprise they had planned for you..
A sudden loud crash of the waves and a clank of anchor caught your attention and threw you out of your thoughts as you blinked and looked out the window of the ship. “Did you two hear that?..” you said softly while scanning the waters for anything remotely interesting to just keep their attention off of you.
Nami sighed and got up, putting her hands on hips, her lips burning up in a comedic snarl as she tapped a finger on her lower hip. “I swear if those idiots are doing anything stupid again…they should know not to interrupt our time with you.” She Saïd muttering the last part while giving Luffy a look. Your eyebrows furrowed at her last comment but before you could even say anything, luffy got up from your lap and stretched.
“I’m sure everything’s okay!” He Saïd cheerily as you got up and glanced at the window again briefly.
.
.
.
.
Once you were outside and looked around you heard voices..in fact you heard a familiar one..and there they stood. Your fiancé in the flesh. Your eyes widened and felt so confused..
Zoro was staring at them with a almost grim expression Knowing how they just wanted your money to begin with, who wouldn’t be suspicious and cautious? He had his hand on his sword as your fiancé talked and seemed to be acting a bit worried for you.
Not thinking in the moment, you rushed over to to your fiancé with a frown, arms crossed.
Not even realizing the shadow covering Nami’s and luffy’s faces…
“What are you doing here “F/N?!” You couldn’t let chin of the idea of getting my money that badly?!” You huffed while placing your hands on your hips. By now most of the crew were gathered around on deck to watch the scene and make sure nothing happens.
You sighed softly and glared at the person in front of you as he started to speak. All of frustration with the two clingy pirates had gotten you riled up..
“Darling..you have it all wrong! I don’t just want you for your money and should know that! And even if I did..why do you choose to let these pirates help you? Just come home with me my love and we can all work this out-”
They took your hands and slowly tried to kiss you, leaning forward as your eyes widened in complete shock and you froze.
Before you could even think of doing anything, you felt your fiancés body shaking violently..he was being electrocuted by Nami’s clima-tact. You gasped at he violence in front of you but it only got worse as she kicked them square in the jaw while Luffy punched him so many times that your eyes were dizzy and he was bleeeding out more spots you could count.
By this time your fiancé was on the floor and looking beaten up. Nami said nothing while Luffy ordered everyone to get rid of him. No one knew what he meant but…everyone didn’t want to know.
After the whole ordeal you stood there silently, trying to piece together what happened while staring out the sea, only to feel a pair of arms wrapping around your waist with someone hugging your arm. You gulped and could already tell who it was..
Nami smiled at you whine Luffy chuckled as he nuzzled his head in the back of your neck.
“Hey Y/N?” Luffy’s cheerful voice said despite the fact that he might have possibly killed a man said.
“..y-yea..?”
“Well we were just thinking..you’ve been here for a long time and well..we wanted to ask if you were interested in joking our crew after we help save your kingdom?” Nami asked softly with that kind voice she only used towards you.
You paused and your heart stopped. Join them?…no.. you couldn’t possibly..it’s only been a few weeks on this ship and you wanted nothing more than to leave already.
“Y-That’s very kind of you guys to offer but-”
Nami’s face fell and Luffy’s smile faded into a serious frown.
“But what? We know you’ll miss your home but don’t worry, we’ll give you time to say goodbye!”
“But I-”
“Yea don’t sweat it! You’ll adjust just fine and we’ll help you throughout the way..even if you dint feel like it but we know you’ll do it right?? After all we’ll be protecting you so you don’t gotta worry about a thing!”
“After all..you do want your kingdom to be saved right?...we’d hate to have to…worsen things..”
“…..”
“So it’s a yes isn’t it??”
At this point..by their penetrating stares and their tight, protective yet caring grip around you..
You just gave it up..
“Yes..I’d be delighted to join..”
They both grinned fro ear to ear and kissed your cheek.
“We knew you’d say yes! We’re so glad you weren’t difficult time-taking!!”
They then went on to start their blabber about all the fun adventures you go on and how when they set sail after saving your home it would be so much fun..
A heiresses protectors couldn’t help but be a little..insistent at times…

Mikans at Midnight
inspired by this post by @pinkcrittertomb <3
also posted on my ao3
Sanji exhales loudly as he collapses against the kitchen counter. He’s finally done deep cleaning the kitchen. For the millionth time since he began his task, he curses out Luffy, who somehow managed to get into the last dredges of syrup that Usopp brought back from his village and made a mess of both himself and the kitchen. Sanji and Usopp had swiftly doled out a proper punishment for the greedy captain that would likely do nothing to prevent such an event from happening again.
After hours of cleaning and meal prep, Sanji is positively exhausted and would love nothing more than to pass out in his bunk for a few hours of sleep before he has to wake up and make breakfast for the crew. However, he’ll have to wait for a bit longer because his work is still not finished.
Nami is on watch tonight and he has to bring her a snack to tide her over and he refuses to make her wait any longer than she has to. Sanji allows himself to rest for the length of time it takes for him to finish a cigarette before he gets back to work.
He hums to himself as he whips up some of her favourite snacks: a parfait with the mikans from her beloved tree, a batch of shortbread cookies with a vanilla glaze, a bowl of assorted fruit, and a pot of Earl Grey tea.
He smiles, thinking of Nami as he leaves the kitchen and heads to the crow’s nest. Sanji admires everyone on their minuscule crew (even that damned moss-brained swordsman, though he’d never admit it aloud), but Nami truly is something special. Not only is she beautiful beyond compare, but she is unbelievably intelligent, kind, headstrong, and resilient. He is honoured to be on the same crew as someone as amazing as she.
Sanji gets nervous and giddy around her as he does around most women, and he enjoys having her attention. But he’s been working hard on not making her uncomfortable after she told him that she dislikes his flirtatious advances. He would hate to make any woman feel unnerved by him, especially not one whom he considers a friend. He wants Nami to not only think of him as a crewmate and chef but as a friend and someone she can rely on. But Sanji knows that he has to earn that trust. And he will do so one snack at a time.
The smile falls off his face as he climbs the rigging to the nest and hears the sound of someone crying. He is quick to close the distance before he opens up the hatch and makes his way inside.
“Nami-swan, are you alright?”
“Oh, Sanji. I didn’t hear you coming.” The navigator is quick to turn away from him and wipe her eyes. “Thanks for the snack, you can just leave it there.”
When she turns back and sees Sanji sitting across from her and making no effort to leave, Nami resorts to anger. “I thought I told you to fuck off!”
Sanji takes her outburst in stride. “Forgive me, Nami-swan. I don’t mean to overstep, but I couldn’t possibly live with myself if I left you here alone knowing how upset you are. I’ll leave if you really want me to, but maybe I can lend an ear? I’ve been told I’m a good listener.”
Nami studies Sanji as she ponders his offer. The sight of her wet eyes and blotchy face breaks his heart.
“It’s just…” Nami begins tentatively. She glances at Sanji before looking away again, staring up at the stars. She tightens the blanket around her shoulders. “Cocoyashi is finally free. I’m free now. My years of having to work for Arlong are over. But that didn’t fix everything.” Tears begin to fall down her face once again.
“Belle-mere is still dead. Nojiko spent most of her life hating me, and now I’m here at sea and we can’t even work on becoming sisters again. I lost most of my childhood to those assholes who treated me however the fuck they wanted. No matter what I do now, I’ll never get that time back. All the things I did to survive… I can’t take them back.” She inhales shakily.  “I’ve spent my whole life hating pirates and now I am one. Who am I now? I barely even recognize myself.”
Sanji pours some tea into the mug he brought and gently presses it into her hands, catching her eye as he speaks.
“I think that’s the best part of getting older,” he says quietly. “We live and learn and decide who we want to be. Take the things that serve you and leave the rest. You said it yourself: you’re free now. Free to choose who it is you want to be. It doesn’t matter how long it takes for you to find that out. You’ve got your whole life ahead of you. And it’ll be a long, happy life if I have anything to say about it,” Sanji vows. “I never would’ve seen myself becoming a pirate, either, but being on this crew? Well, it doesn’t seem so bad.”
They sit in silence for a little while before a harsh sob wracks Nami’s figure. “I miss her,” she weeps. “I miss my mom. Why did she have to die?”
Sanji opens up his arms and Nami falls onto him, sobbing into his chest. He takes the mug from her grip and holds her close, whispering assurances into her hair.
“I’m sorry all that happened to you. I wish I could take all that pain for myself,” he says.
“Regardless of what you may have done, I’m sure your mother and sister are proud of you. I’m sure they’re glad that you’re alive and doing what you want with your life. The pain may never go away, but it’s a reminder of the love between you all. You and Nojiko will always be sisters no matter how far apart you are.”
Nami squeezes him tightly as she continues to cry.
“Thank you, Sanji,” she says when her tears have subsided. She pulls herself out of the embrace, accepts the handkerchief the chef passes to her and dabs her eyes. “I’m glad you were here.”
“Of course, Nami. I won’t have all the answers, but I’ll always be willing to listen and do what I can.” Sanji pushes the tray of food closer to Nami. “Here, have something to eat.”
He removes the lid from the tray, looking at Nami in alarm when she lets out another quiet sob.
“Damn it, Sanji, are you trying to make me die from dehydration?” she snaps, though it lacks its usual heat. “Bringing me the food that reminds me of my mom when I’m missing her. You bastard.”
“Shit! I’m sorry, Nami-swan, let me go get something else for you!”
Nami stops him with a hand on his arm. “No, no. This is perfect. Thank you.”
Sanji lights up a cigarette and is quiet company while Nami eats her snacks. She finishes her parfait, half of the cookies, a cup of tea, and some of the fruit before she puts the lid back on the tray. Sanji opens his mouth to speak up but she beats him to it.
“I still have a couple of hours of watch left. I’ll eat the rest before my shift’s done, I promise.”
“Do you want me to take over for you?” Sanji offers.
“No way, you’re exhausted. You need some sleep. And I’m not in the mood to deal with a hungry Luffy first thing in the morning. I’ll be okay.”
When Sanji doesn’t immediately get up to leave, Nami sighs heavily and leans her head on his shoulder. “Ugh, I hate crying! Now my sinuses hurt.”
Sanji blinks past his surprise and wraps his arm around her shoulders as he tries to force down the blush radiating from his cheeks. “Y-yeah. I don’t know how that Long-nose does it so often.”
Nami chuckles. “Maybe the length of his nose helps somehow?”
Sanji hums thoughtfully. “Maybe. Either way, he’s a freak of nature,” he states, the both of them laughing quietly at the sniper's expense.
“Thank you for being here for me, Sanji,” Nami says when they’ve calmed. “I really appreciate it.”
“I’ll always be here for you, Nami,” Sanji promises. “If you ever need someone to talk to or something to eat, I’m here.”
“What if I need this?” Nami plucks the cigarette from Sanji’s lips and takes a drag before placing it back in his mouth. She cackles at the sight of his cherry-red face.
“I-I-I don’t think I can allow that, Nami-swan! You shouldn’t poison yourself with these things!” He tosses the cigarette overboard for good measure, even though he needs about ten more, right now.
“And neither should you,” Nami says stubbornly. She sits up and stretches, turning to Sanji with a contented smile. “I’m okay now, so get out of here and get some sleep! I won't forgive you if my breakfast isn't top-notch like usual.”
“Are you sure?” Sanji shrinks under the glare she sends his way. “Alright, alright, I’m gone. Have a good night, Nami-swan.”
Sanji is halfway down the rigging when Nami leans over the edge of the nest to call down to him. “Oh, and Sanji?”
“Yes, dear?”
The serene smile Nami sends his way almost sends Sanji tumbling down the rigging. “Belle-mere’s mikans taste best when you’ve made something with them.”
With that, Nami hides back in the nest, the sound of a pencil on paper disturbing the silence of the night.
Below, Sanji’s hands hold the rigging in a bruising grip while a goofy smile spreads on his face alongside a heated blush. He holds onto this feeling and memorizes it, storing it deep in his heart. He vows that he will do everything in his power to keep that smile on his navigator’s face.

______________________________________________________
“Please! Just one bite!”, Luffy begs as Sanji gives you a cupcake.
“No Luffy! This is for her!”, Sanji yells. “Here you go, sweetheart”.
“Thank you, Sanji.” You say with a blush. You never got used to the attention Sanji would give you. He would always say sweet words and call you nice names. You couldn’t help but feel flattered.
Luffy pouts as you take a bite. You hum at the sweetest of the cupcake, making Luffy even more upset. As Sanji walks away, you look at Luffy with a sneaky look. You watch as Luffy sits there, grumpy.
“Hey, Luffy,” you whisper, trying to get his attention.
He points at himself, then looks behind him to see if you were talking to anyone else, even if you said his name.
“Yes, Luffy, I’m talking to you”, He walks over, wondering why you called him over. You hold out the rest of your cupcake for him, asking him to take it. He has hearts-for-eyes looking at the cupcake, staring at it with love. He grabs it and immediately shoved it into his mouth, loving the sweet taste of it.
“Thank you so much!”, he says with a big smile, “You’re the best!” he shouts.
You’ve had a thing for Luffy for a while now. You couldn’t help but have a soft spot for him. His determined eyes every time he seems an enemy, the way his smile lights up the whole room, everything. The crush you have on him has been innocent. Staring at him longer, blushing if he compliments you, etc. He has a way of sending butterflies to your stomach like no one has ever before.
Your heart flutters at his smile as you smile back. Suddenly, Usopp and Chopper call him over to fish. He smiles at you one more time before going over to them.
The moon shines in the dark, stars scattering throughout the sky. You watch the moonlight as it reflects upon the dark ocean water, cascading onto the ship.
Luffy watches you from afar as you sit on the edge of the deck. Your face is lit up by the moon, smiling up at the sky. You have always told the crew how much you love the stars and the moon. However, Luffy didn’t quite understand why. You told him something along the lines of ‘beautiful things are meant to be admired’. He didn’t quite understand when you first said it. But now…yeah, he gets it’s.
He understands because he’s looking at you.
His chest tightens and his stomach flutters. For the first time in a while, Luffy blushes. He stands there, eyes wide, mouth agape. He hasn’t really thought about you like this before. Hell, he hasn’t thought about anyone like this before. He doesn’t understand. He wants to hold you by your face, look at you in the eyes and tell you that you’re beautiful.
You hear footsteps approaching you as you watch stars. Before you can turn around, Luffy is grabbing you by your face, staring you straight in the eyes. He is inches away from your face, making your face hot. Your eyes are wide, shocked about the position you are in with your captain.
"You're beautiful," he says with his innocent tone. You audibly gasp. Luffy, the guy who has the attention span of a goldfish, called you beautiful. And you absolutely loved it.
You smile at him with hooded eyes, "Luffy...you're beautiful too", you tell him. He straightens his back, now sporting an intense blush. You have never seen your captain flustered before, let alone for you. Luffy slowly starts to form his signature wide smile, and giggles. Before he can say anything, you move in kiss his cheek. He stares in disbelief as you walk away, heading to your bedroom.
This was just the start...
——————————————————————————
After that night, you guys considered yourself a couple. It's been a couple of months since that night and everything is going better you could have imagined. You didn't even think Luffy knew how to be a boyfriend. But, surprisingly, he's a pretty good partner. Is he embarrassing in front of the crew? Sure. Does he choose food over you? Sometimes. But you make each other happy, and that's all that matters.
Right now you are cuddling in his room. His arms are wrapped around you tightly as he snores. As you try to fall asleep, however, you feel something poking at your back. You wiggle your hips to investigate but all you get is a groan from Luffy. He wakes up, upset.
"Hey! Why are moving around so much! I was having a good dream...", he complains.
"Luffy, you're poking me."
"No, I'm not!"
"Yes, you are!", you wiggle your hips once more, trying to show him where. However, once he realizes, he goes silent.
"Uhh...Luffy...?", you call out. You turn around to see his face bright red, eyes wide. You inspect further, looking at his body language. He looks stiff, almost uncomfortable. As you look further, you see something poking in his pants. The material of his pants is being pulled, making it obvious that he has a boner.
You and Luffy haven't done anything sexual. The farthest you have gotten was making out. You haven't even had the conversation yet. Sure you make jokes about it. However, it always goes over his head. Of course, you have thought about it. But you didn't think Luffy would be the type of person to even have sex. He seemed too focused on his dreams so you never brought it up.
In actuality, it was quite the opposite. Luffy's dreams of becoming king of the pirates will always be his top priority. But, he's a guy. And you know what guys are? Horny.
Luffy thinks about you sexually a lot. Like, a lot a lot. He never really thought about it before until he had a dream about you. It started off innocent, just you and him cuddling. Then, all of the sudden, you were on your knees sucking him off as he played with your hair. After that day, he couldn't stop thinking about you. He wanted to ask you, but the last thing he would ever want to do was make you uncomfortable. Also, he's content with just thinking about it. He doesn't really mind.
But he just couldn't help himself but think about you lying next to him. He couldn't help but just think about that dream again. He wanted to make it a reality.
"Luffy...are you hard?" you ask, your face burning up out of embarrassment
"Um, maybe?" he responds. You raise your eyebrow at his answer. Maybe? To a yes or no question? C'mon Luffy. However, he quickly gives in.
"Okay, okay! Yes, I am. But it was an accident, okay? I'm sorry." he says. You don't blame him, obviously. He couldn't control it. You just weren't expecting a tent in his pants.
"...well...do you...need help with it?" you ask before you can even think. You can't believe the words that leave your mouth.
“Yes”, he says as soon as the words leave your mouth. You turn over completely, facing him. You hesitantly kiss him, your lips clashing together. He moans into your mouth shamelessly, raking his hands in your hair. You break the kiss and move on top of him, straddling his waist. He feels the heat from your cunt on his cock and grabs both your thighs with his hands, stabilizing himself.
"Luffy I didn't know you were so...sensitive", you say, looking at him with a smirk. He grinds into you, unable to stop his hips from rutting. You whine at the feeling of his hard cock brushing against your clit.
"Mmm, please...just... do something!", he whines. You give in, moving your body downwards so that you are looking up at him with your face near his cock. You slowly unbutton his pants, pulling down his boxers with it. His cock flings out of his pants, precum dripping from his tip. It wasn't small, that's for sure. You couldn't help but lick your lips at the way the veins on his cock throbbed with need. Luffy let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
You grab the base of it while watching Luffy, looking for a reaction. Even the smallest touch of your fingertips has him writhing. He couldn't help it. The way your small hand looked wrapped around him made him dizzy, the feeling in his gut intensifying. You stroked him up and down, looking at the way his precum just slips out of his tip and onto your hand. His heavy breathing and whines were all that took up your brain as your mouth made its way to his tip. As soon as your tongue hits his tip, he moans, grabbing the bedsheets. You suck on his tip, bobbing your head up and down.
"Yes, that feels so good", he praises, "Please go faster, please," he begged, chasing his release. You did as he said; since he asked oh-so nicely. As you quicken your pace, you also move your head down deeper, going as far as you can.
Luffy whines, "Yes, yes, oh my god, yes". His heavy breathing quickly becomes pants as you run your tongue on the underside of his cock. The sounds from him go straight to your core, soaking your underwear.
"I think- I'm- gonna cum!", he exclaims. You look each other in the eyes as he waits for you to move. However, you don't. In fact, you go deeper, wanting to feel his cum go down your throat. His eyes widen, realizing you want him to cum in your mouth, to swallow it all. It's this thought that has him cumming. His back is arching off the bed, his head tilted back, hands gripping the bedsheets as hard as he can.
You take your mouth off of him slowly, letting his cock fall limp. You look up to see him with a blissful smile. Luffy suddenly looks at you and says,
“Your turn!”
…Huh?!
“But, Luffy, this was about you,” you reason.
“Okay, well…now it’s about you!”, he says with his signature smile. Before you can react he’s sitting up, grabbing your arm and waist and situating you onto his chest.
“Lu-Luffy…are you sure?”, you gulp.
“Yes! Now come on!”
You hesitantly get off his chest and take off your shorts. As you do, you feel his stare on you. No shame, no embarrassment, just pure lust. You put your legs around his head, your pussy right above his hungry mouth. Luffy hums.
“There’s a wet spot.”
“Luffy!“, you cry out. You are about to die of embarrassment and nothing has even happened yet. He chuckles and loves your panties to the side to expose your wet, pretty cunt.
He put his hands on the back of your thighs and the feeling has you shivering. His warm fingers against your skin have you forcefully shutting your mouth to not let any noise out.
He tentatively licks against your underwear, his tongue bumping against your clit. You whimper, falling forward and catching yourself against the bed.
He continues to lick just like that. Soft, almost gentle. You let whines unintentionally, but you're slowly losing your will to care. He grips your thighs harder when your head falls back, moaning into your cunt. This sends a wave of vibration through your clit, like a shock of electricity.
“Oh my god, Luffy”, you breathe out. He continues to laugh at your reactions, having the time of his life watching you fall apart. But, he wants more. And if Luffy wants something, he gets it.
He puts his mouth around your clit and sucks.
Your eyes open wide as you moan into your hand, covering the noises. He hums onto your clit, sending more shockwaves through your body. He lets go of your clit, catching his breath.
“You look so pretty,” he says as he put his mouth right back onto your cunt. You whine, grabbing his hair and shoving his face closer to your pussy. You have never been this wet before. The way his tongue swipes across your clit has your head spinning, and soon enough, you're about to cum.
“Luffy, I- 'm cumming!” Your confession makes him go faster, moving his tongue in every direction. You throw your head back as you cum, the knot snapping inside of you.
Luffy can’t look away. The face your make, the noise you make, the noises your pussy makes, god. It's just too much for him to handle. He’s now rock hard again as you cum, swallowing it all. As you come down from your high, you move off of his face and onto his chest. You see your slick all over his face, making you even more embarrassed.
You lean down and kiss him, both of you smiling. Your taste yourself in his mouth as you swipe your tongue across his lips. You separate your lips and smile at him. However, Luffy seems to avoid eye contact with you again.
“What’s wrong Luffy?” you ask, nervous that you upset him in some way.
“…I’m hard again…”, he confesses. He thought you would be upset, however, you just laugh.
“Do you… need my help again?” You look at him in a way that makes him rut his hips. Your eyes, your smirk, everything.
“Yes,” he quickly responds.
You move your body down, shimming until you’re at his cock. Your rock your hips back and forth, dragging your pussy across his cock, teasing him. He moans, gripping the sheets.
He can’t wait any longer. He just can’t. Your warm cunt right above his cock, sliding in-between your folds.
“Put- put it in,” he stutters breathlessly.
“What do we say?” you tease. You can’t help it. The way he looks right now is something right out of porn. He looks so…needy.
“Please?” he whines, wanting, no, needing your pussy. Your face heats up at his begging, not expecting him, your captain, to beg for you.
You give him what he wants- and what you want too- by sinking down on his cock. The tips just slide in as you both gasp. The stretch is painful but good. So good that you sit
|completely down on his cock.
Luffy is in love. With you or the feeling? He isn’t sure. What he does know, however, is that he needs more.
He quickly grabs the back of your thighs, lifts up your hips, and starts going slow. His cock hits the spot that has your eyes rolling back.
“Lu- Luff- y,” you stammer out his name, “fe-feels so-o good.”
Hearing you choke out his name like that has him thrusting faster, pounding into you so fast you feel like you are about to break. The way your walls are fluttering against him has his cock throbbing.
“You feel so good around me like this,” he groans. He watches the way your breasts bounce in your shirt. He moves one of his hands under your shirt and gropes your breast. You moan at the feeling of his rough hands against your soft skin, his fingers brushing against your nipple.
“Luf- Luffy, I’m gonna- gonna cum!” You warn him. Your cunt clamps down on him, feeling so utterly full.
He brings the hand on your breast down to your clit, rubbing it back and forth. You cum, covering your mouth with your hand to hide your moans. Luffy cums shortly after, filling you up. It leaks out of your pussy, spilling all over your thighs.
You lay together, catching your breath. Your head lies in between in his neck, breathing in his scent and watching the sweat fall from his forehead and along his neck.
“Can we…do it again? Another time?” Luffy asks, looking in your eyes with hope. He’s basically bouncing up and down with excitement.
“I’d like that very much, Luffy,” you say smiling.
After you both clean up and head to bed, you cuddle, as you do every night. However, you feel Luffy clinging to you like a dog, his boner poking you in the back again. You can already tell this Is going to become a daily thing, but you’re not complaining.

More thoughts about Luffy vs. Usopp
In reference to [x]
A little late to the party since it’s been over a decade when Oda-sensei published these chapters (wtf where does the time go?) but the Luffy vs Usppp-amv inspired to re-read the arc and scribble about it.
So in general, one reason Water7/Enies Lobby is very interesting in my opinion is that for the first time there was a huge crisis inside the Straw Hat Pirates which they couldn’t solve and things start to get worse step by step (first Robin disappearing then this fight inside the crew).
Honestly, one could not expect that things could get so out of hand and escalate so quickly. I mean Luffy and Usopp have been best buddies since they met and they have never been so aggressive at each other before...
Tumblr media
Luffy is mostly an easygoing guy but then there are times when he has proved that he can be smart and read the situations. First of all, Luffy  probably acknowledged that Usopp was upset about losing the money to the Water 7 bandits and that’s why the captain tried to be first gentle when telling the bad news because he knows Going Merry means a world to Usopp.
He knew the decision would hurt Usopp deeply but as a captain he is forced to announce it since it would've come in public anyway. He guessed right, Usopp wasn’t accepting the truth so Luffy even tried to give proper explanation why Merry’s is at the end of her journey. Eventually he gets frustrated because the message isn’t going through (Usopp is stuck insisting that Merry can be prepared) and that’s basically how the whole conflict started.
Tumblr media
Another thing that tells that Luffy did read and understand the circumstances was that he didn’t allow the anyone from the rest of the crew to interrupt a any point. He didn’t listen when the others tried to convince that there is no need for yelling or taking the duel and he told them not to join the duel.
Perhaps Luffy realized that this bickering was about to turn into serious business and wanted to take responsibility as a captain. He didn’t want the other get involved in it more than necessary (i.e by taking sides).  in order to avoid more conflicts (inside the crew).
By this behavior he wanted to highlight that he alone made the decision, he will stick to it and none of the others were featured (that Usopp should be only mad to him, not to others and so on) .
Tumblr media
So, about the actual fight shortly. Back then it was impressive that Usopp was brave enough to face his captain although he probably knew deep inside his heart that there is no way he could win (because he was already weakened from the last battle) but he did it for Merry’s sake (and for himself).
Hard to say whether the crew is aware but Usopp’s speed is amazing.  Due to that, the first half of the battle he was  on top the game (although Luffy first said that the sniper should take this fight more seriously).  Also, Usopp is very good with gadgets and managed attack quickly but eventually he lost because well at that point they were wresting in whole different leagues despite Usopp’s improvement.
Tumblr media
Now to think about it, this conflict could have easily avoided because Luffy even apologized in middle of it but Usopp kept on poking the ice. Luffy could have easily stopped the train by refusing the duel invitation.
However, the captain kept his head to the very end. He even got a chance to beat Usopp into pulp as a “punishment” for disobeying the captain but he used only one attack to finish the duel because he didn’t want to humiliate him more.
Tumblr media
When I first readed this arc a long time ago, it was quite hard to understand why they even ended up into this situation. Then later re-reading the whole arc after many years, I realized that this fight was partly about Usopp’s pride.
We’ve learnt from the beginning that Usopp tends to be very insecure (which partly explains why he is afraid in many situations and he tries to hide it with various ways) and since he is comparing himself to the others (especially the Monster Trio), he sees himself as a weakling and that’s what eats him inside.
Why? Because he is afraid of being not enough and that he won’t achieve  his dream, becoming a brave sea warrior because especially before Time Skip he was usually the opposite of his idols who are fearless and strong.
Tumblr media
After the loss he was still too proud to admit it all that he was wrong. He still wanted to believe that he could fix Going Merry (despite Luffy tried to tell it’s impossible). On top of that he probably was aware that he stepped on his captain’s toes and this is why it was hard for him to face his crew even though he wanted to help with Robin’s case.
That’s how Sogeking was born. However, despite the confidence the alter ego brought he still faced the same difficulties and got overpowered by a CP9 member and needed his crew mates’ help which must’ve caused him frustration.
Eventually Usopp understands the reasons behind his behavior and was able to admit his mistakes and in Enies Lobby he finally learned that he does have his strengths too. He is a excellent sniper after all and incredibly smart and what’s most important: he is a valuable crewmate, not a burden.
After Robin was saved  he thought the dust would’ve landed and literally practiced  the “comeback scenarios”. When the SH were about to leave Water 7 it was then he realized that this might be the moment of department, set his pride aside
Tumblr media
We shouldn’t forget that Luffy was struggling too because of this conflict. His leadership skills were suddenly put into a major test. So the other reason for the fight was that basically that Luffy was forced of choosing between being a friend or being a captain.
What’s also special in this arc and about this fight is that Luffy didn’t smile after the fight until chapter 346 after he manages to escape Lucci’s restraints. If something, the loss of smile tells about the distress he went trough.
Tumblr media
The rest of the Straw Hats reacted in their own ways to the upcoming crisis.
As we know, Nami is very emotional and compassion so she did not hesitate to show openly how she feels about the situation: she shed tears, she showed that she is upset about the quarrel and so on.
Although greediness is Nami’s running gag, I don’t think she was really upset that they got robbed. Deep down she felt distress because of what happened to her nakama who got brutally beaten by local bandits and at the same time Robin’s disappeared  and  suddenly, now she witnesses how two best buddies are at their throats.
It’s simply in her personality that if things get out of control she feels extremely stressed.  We saw in Arlong Park how her 10 years plan was about to go into waste and how she reacted strongly with burst of emotions. First she trashed her house then later she ended up stabbing her tattoo because she felt despair and helpless.
Now suddenly the Straw Hats are facing a similar situation where emotions overwhelming and there is again no control. Nami tried tried to prevent it from going worse by reasoning both, first Usopp from leaving and then later Luffy from taking the duel but without wished results.
I think in this case she could relate a bit more to Usopp’s feelings because she also knows how it does feel to keep up with the others’ pace when you aren’t physically the strongest member and since their captain “let” things happen, she first struggled to understand the reasons from Luffy’s side.
Tumblr media
Sanji tried also to calm things down too but ends up splitting the quarrelels from each other. It was a rough gesture but this was the only way to make them pay attention since he just wanted to warn the captain not to say anything he’d later regret (and it worked for a split second because as said, Luffy did apologize his reckless words).
When he sees that neither of them are willing or able to listen to the reasonings Sanji steps back because he realizes that it’s a fight only Luffy and Usopp can solve and that the others’ opinions don’t matter at this point.  What is interesting is that after that Sanji started to hold his emotions at this point and for example doesn’t shed tears after the duel (like Luffy, Nami and Chopper did).
When he argues with Zoro, he mentiones that they wouldn’t be here if Usopp didn’t lost his pride. It feels like Sanji understands what’s the problem at least in Usopp’s side and he tried to defend the sniper even after the battle by telling Chopper that giving pity might not be a good idea.
Now to think about these chapters and Whole Cake Island arc,  perhaps all the talks about “man’s pride” and holding the emotions was Oda foreshadowing Sanji’s past. He was after all rasied by Judge not to show any weaknesses and was bullied for being emotional.
Tumblr media
Then there is Chopper who is quite close to Usopp and idolizes him (even before the duel he believed that Usopp would really have an army hiding somewhen when he said so). He is openly confused and distressed just like Nami was and he tries his best from cooling down the situation.
However, his attempts gets also ignored and Usopp even told him not to follow him although he just wanted to treat his wounds after the battle. I think perhaps Chopper had the hardest time to understand what’s this argument was all about and he constantly carried worry about Usopp being badly wounded not only before the duel but during it and after.
What made the situation even worse for him was that all of his friends are not only fallen apart individually  and split but also that they started give him directions that are in a crash course with Chopper’s personal beliefs and ethics as a doctor.
As we know he has always considered his mates as the “cool guys” and usually follows their lead but now Chopper is suddenly fed with these overly masculine “No emotions. Don’t show pity or weakness. It’s all about pride”- thoughts and it’s are eating him inside because he just wants to help his fallen friend but at the same time he wants to admire his strong comrades so basically he is fored to choose.
However, what made me respect Chopper even more was that despite the warnings he ended up following his own heart. Eventually he was brave enough to not let the others affect on him.  Although he was pressured by the commandments of "the cool guys” he idolizes,  Chopper chose friendship kindness and what he thought was right at that moment.
Tumblr media
Zoro tried also first to calm the guys down but immediately understood the situation and moved to the background where he followed the situation without saying a word. He could’ve easily gone and punish Sanji for kicking his captain but he knew interrupting wouldn’t change anything.
What was remarkable that Zoro was the only one from the rest of the crew that decided to be fully Luffy’s support. Obviously he did feel sad about Usopp too but since he saw his captain’s pain, Zoro decided to be the voice of reason in general and didn’t let his emotions take over the situation.  He was the anchor Luffy needed while the captain was struggling.
Tumblr media
It was him who reminded Luffy to be the captain and  that even though some decisions hurt, they need to be done. It was also Zoro who later reminds of Luffy that if Usopp wants to rejoin, he needs to apologize (and really mean it).
First Luffy was a bit surprised about this (because he was ready to welcome him back with open arms after Enies Lobby) but if something proves that the captain does listen (and understands) at times is that he really waited for Usopp to perform the proper apology before allowing him to return and until that pretended that he didn’t hear him. So Luffy did exactly what Zoro said.
Tumblr media
So all in all, Luffy's and Usopp’s fight was more about how burst of emotions can make people say things they don’t mean (Luffy basically showing the door to Usopp) and how words can trigger the others’ insecurities and lead to make reckless desicions (Usopp leaving).  Putting their nakamaship in such serious test was a painful but valuable lesson for the whole crew and eventually it offered some character/nakamaship development.

Hiiii sweetie I love your Law writings so much! Oh this sounds like your others are bad, no I didn't mean to say that! I'm sure your others are good too, I just didn't read them yet because I'm Law obsessed lately. Anyways, could I request something? It's actually my first time to request something so I hope I did it right??? I'm sorry if I didn't. Coming back to the request, could you do something like Law x reader (preferably female but gn would be okay too though so everyone can relate!) being kinda close to each other and always teasing each other (she is a Strawhat member) and he is deeply in love with her but his heart breaks seeing her hugging a guy of her crew? Like he knows she's a cutiepie and loves hugging her friends but he just gets so jealous seeing her with Zoro or whoever and his mood changes and he distances himself from her, leaving her all confused because he thinks it's impossible for her to like him when it's so much more likely and also practical to date someone of her crew. But then she asks him about him being so weird and cold lately and he kind of let's everything out and confesses? I'm so sorry if this is too long or complicated, ignore it if that's the case! Sending lots of love to you from Germany! <3
Oh my freaking goodness you’re so sweet! I’m glad you enjoy all of my Law writings as much as I love writing for him! Don’t even worry, you don’t have to read my other’s if you don’t want to, if it’s just Law you wanna read the go right ahead! :) GERMANY?! I have people reading my works in GERMANY?! It always baffles me when I get asks that say they’re from another country because I forget that not everyone is going to live near me. Thank you for all the love all the way from Germany! ❤️
Warnings: None, other than some swearing here and there, not proofread in the slightest.
****Law x Strawhat!Reader
He hated it. There was nothing more that Law hated right now was seeing you draped over Zoro’s back while you watched something over his shoulder. He was stupid to think that you wouldn’t have a close relationship with them, of course you would. Law could only grit his teeth and endure it. It wasn’t like the two of you were in a relationship, he couldn’t tell you to stop.
Law actually could think of something he hated more. It was the fact that Zoro didn’t seem to mind, not in the slightest. It was like this was a daily occurrence for him and it was something he was used to. Part of him wanted to see the marimo push you off and act annoyed. But something told him that even then, you wouldn’t care and would simply do it again.
“Hey Law! Come look at what Usopp made-!” you slid off of Zoro’s back and turned around with a smile, hoping to see the other swordsman you had seen just a moment ago. Your sweet smile turned into a frown, then a pout when you realized he wasn’t there anymore. ‘Where did he go?’ You thought to yourself as you looked around the deck.
You knew that the other captain was a bit more reclusive than you’d like since you enjoyed being around him and it never seemed like he wanted to be around the rest of the crew-probably because most of the crew was so boisturious and loud and Law was, well...the opposite of boisturious and loud.
It didn’t take you long to find him. “You left us!” you say to him, playfully feigning like you were upset as you crossed your arms. “How rude!”
“And for a reason.” he simply responded back, not even looking at you while he did.
“Sorry, were we being too loud?” you chuckled and smiled. “You’re gonna have to get used to that on this ship while you’re here with us.”
Am I going to have to get used to seeing you all over your crew as well? Law kept his thoughts to himself while he opted not to give you another response.
“Um...I’ll just…” you pointed back to Zoro and the others, leaving him to be by himself since that’s what you thought he wanted. It was the opposite. He wanted to be around you, but he just couldn’t stand seeing you so close to them as well. As much as he wished that was him, he’d never say it aloud.
It was something that you had been noticing the past few days. The two of you got along great when you were on Punk Hazard together, so what was different now? You felt more comfortable since you were on your own ship and maybe that was it. There weren't any battles happening and everyone was quite lax...so shouldn’t it be the opposite? Shouldn’t he be more relaxed now that he knew he was safe? Or was that even it? You weren’t sure.
It took you a few days to finally approach him about it. You noticed that every time you he was around you and then when you went over to your crew mates, he’d be gone before you even turned back around.
The crew was inside eating and Law had finished first, opting to go outside in the quiet after he was done. You soon followed after you were done and left the loud dining room to find him. It wasn’t difficult since there was only a limited area outside on the deck.
“Don’t like how loud it is in there?” you chuckled as you walked up to the railing next to him. “I’m not sure how long you’ll stay with us, but you get used to it, you actually tend to enjoy it after a while and when it’s quiet, you feel a little weird.”
“I don’t think I’ll be getting used to Mugiwara-ya anytime soon and I don’t know how you deal with…” Luffy’s loud shriek was heard in the distance and Law’s face scrunched up, “that.”
You only laugh at the other captain, “I take it your crew isn’t like this then?”
He rolled his eyes and almost cringed at the thought. “No. They are. I just choose to ignore it most of the time.”
“And does that work?”
He answered almost immediately, “Never.”
You laughed again and Law felt like his breath almost caught in his throat. It was something he would be able to listen to over and over again and never get sick of-unlike your captain.
“I wanted to ask you something too…” your fingers tapped the railing and traced the design of the wood. “Are you okay? Or did I do something wrong? I thought we were getting along really well and lately it feels like you’ve been more distant for some reason. I just...I like talking to you and I thought you did too. We’ll be in the middle of a conversation and I’ll turn to talk to someone and then when I turn back to talk to you again, you’re gone. But maybe I just misinterpreted it and you didn’t want to talk to me in the first place.” you let out an almost pitiful sounding laugh, along with a sad smile.
Fuck...That wasn’t the reason in the slightest and he hated that he made you think that it was your fault he was just a little jealous of your crew mates that you live with.
“No.. that’s not it…” he sighed to himself, feeling guilty that he had made you feel that way. He was fighting with himself internally. Do I say something to them or not? He knew that there wouldn’t be much of a relationship since the two of you were on separate crews. Pair that with the fact that he doesn’t even know if he’ll survive this attack on Doflamingo.
Law wouldn’t want to get your hopes up about anything if you felt the same way about him. At the same time, this could possibly be one of his only chances to tell you how he felt. All he could think about was embarrassing himself. From the first time he saw you on Sabaody, he knew that there was something about you because of the way you never left his mind since then.
It was a stroke of luck that you managed to see him again on Punk Hazard. Since you were relatively new to the crew at that time, you still hadn’t bonded with anyone in particular so he never saw you acting like you do now with them.
You raised your brow in an attempt to get him to continue with what he was trying to say. “Then what is it?” you ask him slowly. “If you don’t want to say anything, that’s fine I guess. As long as I’m not doing anything to make you mad or hate me.”
“I’m not mad at you. I don’t hate you either.” he paused for a moment, gritting his teeth together. Law couldn’t believe that he was even doing this to himself. “Quite the opposite actually…”
Your brow raised again in slight confusion. “Oh?” you hesitated, the thought registering in your head about what he meant. You knew he wasn’t exactly the person who would let his feelings gush out. A small smile slipped out and you tried your best not to smirk.. “Ooh~ I see.” you drug your words out slowly.
As Law went to open his mouth, whether to object to what you were saying-even though he wasn’t-or let you know that you were right, he didn’t get to say anything before your Captain burst onto the deck.
“Y/N-chaaan!!! Come play with us!!” and you couldn’t even object or tell Luffy that you would be there in a minute when a long arm stretched out to grab you. It wrapped around your waist and you before it was able to yank you away from Law, you grabbed the collar of his shirt and planted your lips firmly on his.
“I’m glad you don’t hate me~” you grin as you pull away, not because you want to but because you’re being forced away by Luffy.
Law could feel his cheeks heat up from the sudden kiss and all he wanted to do was grab his hat and pull it over his face. But then he would’ve missed seeing your smile as you notice just how flustered you made him. He wouldn’t mind being a little embarrassed if he gets to see your smile every time.

Note
hey bae!! can u write headcanons of luffy, sanji, and nami, finding out from someone else their crewmate ( reader ) likes them? thanks!! ur awesome
Hey Lovely,
Hope you likey
Luffy
Ah yes the captain,
He definitely needed someone to tell him, he wouldn't assume anyone liked him even if he returned it.
The crew, oh my, they'd be so frustrated. I mean, they see you guys everyday, hanging out catching fish, imitating the crew, and listening to Usopp's stories. They are surprised that someone can handle Luffy the way you do, you make him a better captain.
The crew made a plan, mainly Usopp, Franky, and Nami. Their first attempt didn't go as well, they had sent Usopp to tell him. Usopp didn't flat out say it, he made up some grand story about his love with Kaya, and at the end of it said well like you and y/n. But Luffy was too amazed by Usopp's story and didn't really catch his last bit.
So after that failed attempt, Nami decided that if she wants it done right, she just has to tell Luffy.
So she sits him down, and she is like "Y/n likes you, do you like them?" And Luffy would be oblivious at first, and be like "Well duh, they're my friend. I like them😁" so then Nami explained it, maybe with a few slaps on the head. But then he realized that he likes you just as much as he likes meat.
He wouldn't make a big deal out of it, I mean you like him, he likes you. So he just flat out says to you one day, "You'll be such a great future (queen/king whichever you are) of pirates."
I mean Luffy just stating you'll be there with him, I bet it would feel awesome. From that point, he'd wait to run and explore an island with you. He'd grab your hand and just run along and wouldn't even notice if his arm was stretching because he ran too far ahead.
He would let you wear his hat constantly, no doubt about it. He would make sure you ate even if he was picking off of your plate.
He wouldn't care if you are a girl or boy, he just wants to adventure with you and would make sure you are just as respected as him.
Sanji
Now let's be real, he has a crush on nearly every female he sees so he'd be kinda oblivious when it came down to realizing someone liked him.
You've been on the crew for awhile, and damn the way he smiles at you makes your heart explode. The crew started noticing, even Zoro. No one wanted to upset you by telling Sanji about your feelings without permission.
But then Zoro, him and Sanji were arguing like usual. And he slipped up, calling Sanji such a dumbass he didn't even notice y/n's crush on him.
When Sanji hears this, oh man, that man skyrockets into the sky with a nosebleed. I mean of course he returns the affection, you are so beautiful and gorgeous to him. A person like you having a crush on him, he is through the roof happy.
You watched this unfold with a wide eyed expression, I mean how did Zoro even know you liked Sanji. He doesn't approach you immediately about it, he wouldn't want you to be anxious about it. But instead he'd try to show that he likes you back.
He'd focus on you, not necessarily ignore Robin and Nami but he is less flirty than he was before. I mean this man refuses to even hurt a lady, he wouldn't want to hurt your feelings at all by flirting with another woman.
He'd wake up in the morning, to make you your favorite breakfast and grab you your favorite drink to have with it. He'd go shopping with you in mind for his meals. And he'd plan exactly how he'd tell you he returns the affection.
It would be romantic, I mean he is one of the biggest simps ever. He would do it privately, take you to a romantic secluded spot or cleared out the ship and lit candles and set up a fancy dinner.
He'd pull out your chair, make everything super proper, and he'd flower you with compliments and confess to his feelings without necessarily bringing up yours. And would ask you to be his girlfriend, and once the deal was sealed, he'd kiss you in a respectful but passionate way.
Now if you are a guy, this would probably be a little harder on him. Not that he'd be opposed but, he definitely has some internalized homophobia, I mean look at his reaction to his timeskip island. I still think he'd act the same but with an edge of shyness.
He wouldn't necessarily call you beautiful or gorgeous but instead Handsome and Charming. He'd daydream of saving you countless times, being your knight in shining armor, he might even have a few of you saving him (he may even picture a dress on himself if it's post timeskip) .
Nami
Robin is totally who told her. Robin observed the relationship, she saw all the exceptions Nami made for them. The lack of charging them for things, letting them watch her draw maps, even letting them near the treasure.
Robin would've asked a few questions first before outting your feelings. She wouldn't want to embarrass you at all, so she'd make sure Nami returned feelings first.
She'd ask if Nami was interested in a relationship at any point, then if she was interested in anyone currently. Then she'd be like, well I noticed Y/n seems to be interested.
Nami would react nonchalantly about it, I mean she knows she's gorgeous and cute. But she'd secretly be happy about it. She wouldn't wait much time.
She'd approach you, depending on how long you've known each other will change how she responds.
She may just go up to you and kiss you real quick. And hope that you ask her out then and don't act like an idiot.
But she also may just approach you and say she knows you like her and that she likes you too and give you a kiss on the cheek.
But either way you are going to have to ask her to be your girlfriend, she'll say yes. It'll become quality time and gifts that she uses to show she likes you.

Hey✨👋, not sure if you’re bored of the prompt; S/O ex comes to stay on the ship yet. I loveddd the zoro one! 👏🏽👏🏽I’d love to see a how would Luffy, usopp and sanji react?
yes yes yes 💛💛💛
luffy, usopp, sanji when their s/o's ex comes to stay on the ship for a bit
description: luffy, usopp, and sanji (separate) when their s/o's ex (who still has feelings for s/o) comes to stay on the ship for a bit
* [e/bf/n] = ex boyfriend's name
Tumblr media
-he's perfectly fine at first, an old friend of yours that's great! he has no problem at all with your ex staying aboard so it takes him a little while to notice anything wrong
-the first little thing luffy notices is how your ex always seems to glare at him when you're at his side, he doesn't think too much of this
-but then he notices how [e/bf/n] always tries to distract you or steal you away from luffy, there's an increasing amount of annoyance in luffy and now he can barely spend any time with you
-so luffy becomes a bit more clingy and possessive, the one thing that begins to set him off is when someone steals all of your attention, he's your boyfriend doesn't that mean he gets your cuddles anytime?
-luffy starts holding you a bit tighter when [e/bf/n] tries to grap your hand to pull you away, he shoots him a death glare as a warning but will let you go if you promise you'll be back
-he'll talk to you one night complaining about your ex with a pout, whining about how he keeps taking you away, but really he's actually upset with your ex
-eventually it gets to the point and situation where luffy walks into the kitchen right as [e/bf/n] is leaning in to kiss you with one hand cupping your cheek and the other on the nape of your neck, luffy stretches his arms and wraps them tightly around your waist pulling you across the room into his chest
-luffy tells your ex to get out in an unfamiliar dark and flat tone and he waits silently until he does leave, once thats over luffy squeezes you tightly and the smile and cheer returns to his face while he asks if you're okay and plants a big smooch on your lips
Tumblr media
-usopp is already quite insecure in general, so knowing you offered your ex to stay on the ship so they could bring him to the next island, didn't make him feel too good
-but he doesn’t like confrontation so he doesn’t say anything, usopp keeps his arm wrapped around your waist to let your ex know that you’re with him
-he quickly notices the way [e/bf/n] acts towards you, how touchy he is when he tries to slip his arm around your waist or put his hand on your thigh
-usopp doesn’t want to come off as jealous or possessive or insecure, so he doesn’t say anything he just watches with his eyes narrowed like he’s waiting to see you return the affection
-at some point one of the nights before you’re going to bed he made a comment about your ex and you being so close, but you quickly reassured him and he felt a bit better
-once you had docked at the island, usopp went onto deck to make sure [e/bf/n] left, but he finds him instead holding you by the waist and leaning in trying to kiss you
-usopp yells across the deck and hurries over tearing you out of your ex’s grip and pushing you behind him, he shoves your ex towards the railing yelling for him to get off as chopper attempts to hold him back
-once usopp has basically thrown your ex off the ship onto the docks, you go and wrap your arms around his torso placing a quick kiss to his blushing (in anger and because you kissed him) cheek helping him calm down
Tumblr media
-2/3 of him is not okay with it but the other 1/3 is only because it’ll make you happy
-he is slightly upset that you invited someone onto the ship, but only slightly, what he's really upset about is that you invited your ex when sanji thinks you should have talked to him first
-you'll have a civilized conversation, no fighting whatsoever sanji just needs some reassurance
-it only takes a moment for sanji to realize your ex still loves you, he would've figured it out even ooner but he was too occupied being your loving smitten boyfriend
-suddenly a lot more clingy but not so much heart eyes and gushing love with every touch and word, it's more of a firm protective cuddliness as he glares at [e/bf/n]
-he'll keep a very close eye on your ex and he'll make his food with even less fresh ingredients than the other boys'
-now he rarely left your side before, so during your ex's stay he was always in the room or at least had you in his line of sight, except for when he went to get something from the boys' room and your ex slipped into the kitchen once sanji was gone
-sanji came back to find [e/bf/n] encasing you with his arms around your waist leaning in for a kiss, within a second sanji had his foot against your ex's chest as he kicked him back against the counter
-his cigarette held loosely in his lips while he walked over completely calm and grabbed your ex by the collar of his shirt, dragging him out of the kitchen and over to the railing throwing him over the side into the water
-"swim."

Missing You
Quick summary: Sanji misses Zoro.
Note: I haven’t outright stated it before, but my collection of short Zosan oneshots is connected to my fic “To Run.” This one makes a few references to it.
-
Sanji woke up to the feeling of Zoro’s lips on the corner of his mouth. His eyes flitted open and his lips curved upward in a groggy smile as he took in the sight of Zoro, partially hovering over him in bed, smiling down at him. Sanji made an amused sound in the back of his throat, laying a hand on his love’s bicep.
“Hi,” Sanji said, his voice still thick with sleep. Sanji wound his arms around Zoro’s solid, warm torso, and pulled him down so Zoro lay on top of him. He chuckled softly as they both repositioned themselves to be more comfortable. “Morning breath,” Sanji whispered, putting his palm in Zoro’s face and pushing him back when Zoro leaned in for yet another kiss.
Sanji let out a small, undignified yelp in surprise when Zoro’s tongued darted out of his mouth and pushed between the gaps between Sanji’s fingers, poking out at Sanji in defiance. Zoro’s grin grew as Sanji withdrew his hand from his face.
“Child,” Sanji said accusingly.
“You had to know getting licked was a possibility when you put your hand there,” Zoro, incorrigible as ever, shot back.
“Actually, I thought you might just bite me like the savage you are,” Sanji said, staring up at Zoro with partially closed eyes.
“And that wouldn’t have bothered you?”
“No, because I was expecting it.”
Zoro snorted, rolling his eyes. “Dumbass,” he said, the playfulness in his voice turning the old insult into a term of endearment.
“Barbarian,” Sanji said in return, grinning to himself when Zoro laid his head on his chest.
“You love me,” Zoro said, more to annoy Sanji than to state the obvious.
“You’re so sure of that,” Sanji said, his voice glib, his fingers soft as he ran them along the path of Zoro’s spine all the way to his head, pushing through the soft green hair.
Contentment rumbled from deep within Zoro’s throat as Sanji played with his hair. “Yeah,” he said dreamily. “I am.”
Sanji lifted his head to kiss the top of Zoro’s. If only those who called Zoro the Demon of East Blue could see him now. They’d change their minds quickly if they could see him practically purring like a common house cat at having his hair stroked.
They lay there together, Sanji petting Zoro until his hand grew tired, Zoro lying on Sanji like a living, breathing blanket. Usually Zoro preferred to have Sanji lying on top of him, but Zoro had become somewhat clingier as of late, coming to Sanji for physical affection more frequently than he normally did whenever they had time alone together.
It had been a bit of an adjustment for both of them when Sanji brought Zoro onto the Baratie. Back when they sailed on Sunny, Zoro could come to Sanji when he was preparing food for the next meal. He would hold onto him like the clingy, affectionate pest that he was. Zoro was less clingy whenever he had Sanji’s full attention, but he’d been receiving less of it lately.
It had been easier to give Zoro his attention back when all Sanji had to worry about was keeping a small crew fed and didn’t have a restaurant and its guests to look after, a staff working under him, or the constant pressure to prove himself worthy as Zeff’s successor. It was even harder to give Zoro his attention when he couldn’t let him hang onto him while he was cooking like he used to. Sanji was sorry that he couldn’t give Zoro that anymore. While he used to tease Zoro for being needy or accuse him of being annoying when Zoro grumbled at him for needing to move around the kitchen while they stood like this, Sanji did enjoy it. It was a nice compromise that kept Zoro happy, and Sanji did enjoy the company and the fact that Zoro wanted to be close to him. But Sanji was a boss now, and it was hard to be taken seriously when he had a grown man hanging off him.
So Zoro found a new way to get Sanji’s attention. He’d observe restaurant activity until there was a lull, and then he’d waltz into the kitchen, grab Sanji by the wrist, and announce, “Break time!”
The other chefs were always overjoyed to see Zoro. Sanji was aware he wasn’t an easy boss, especially if the day was stressful, and Zoro pulling him into the office to kiss him always left him in a better mood. The staff had noticed this, and so they welcomed Zoro in the kitchen, showing their appreciation with booze and a snack whenever he and Sanji came out of the office.
“You’re spoiling him,” Sanji would always chide the chefs, although secretly he was grateful that Zoro and the chefs were on good terms.
But maybe Zoro was growing restless with the way things were on Baratie. Sanji had less days off than he did back when they were part of a pirate crew. There were no more islands to explore, less opportunities for them to have a day all to themselves. So Zoro found more reasons to initiate physical contact with Sanji. He pulled him onto his lap when they sat down together. He grabbed him in his sleep and was always hesitant to let go upon waking. He’d touch him in some small way throughout the day whenever he saw him.
And then came the suggestions. It first started with simply telling Sanji what he should do regarding his work schedule.
“You work too hard, Cook,” Zoro would say. “You should ease up a little.”
“That’s what happens when you run a restaurant, Marimo,” Sanji would retort.
“You should go on vacation,” Zoro said one day, leaning against the wall and staring out the window. His arms were crossed and his stance was relaxed. He spoke as if this had just occurred to him, though Sanji was now starting to suspect it had been on his mind for longer than he’d let on. “Take a break from restaurant life. We can go visit the rest of the crew. Or just go wherever. Doesn’t have to be super far.”
“I don’t have time for a vacation,” Sanji said dismissively. He placed a cigarette between his teeth as he lit up.
“Why not?” Zoro asked, looking at Sanji.
“Who’s gonna run this place with me gone?” Sanji replied.
Zoro blinked. “Zeff. It was his restaurant, originally.”
“Zeff’s worked hard enough for three lifetimes,” Sanji said, waving the idea away with his hand.
“Okay,” Zoro said tensely, sounding as if he was forcing himself to be patient. “Couldn’t your cooks manage without you for a little bit? Some of them’ve been here as long as you.”
Sanji abruptly stopped in the middle of a drag of his cigarette, holding the smoke in his lungs as he tried and failed to imagine those idiots getting on without him. It was why he still hadn’t gotten around to appointing a sous chef.
He cringed, exhaling sharply through his teeth. “No,” he said firmly.
“You’re just making excuses now, Cook,” Zoro said, his brows pulling down in a scowl.
“What do you want from me, Zoro?” Sanji snapped. “I told you I can’t go on vacation! Can we talk about literally anything else? I don’t have much time left on my break and I’d rather spend it doing something else other than getting pestered by you!”
Zoro grew silent, his scowl easing somewhat, but not going away completely. “You know what?” Zoro said, pushing himself off the wall. He walked past Sanji, his boots treading heavily across the floorboards. “Forget it.”
And Sanji had, at least until now. And he thought Zoro had, too, since he hadn’t brought it up again, though he’d kept his distance during the next few days, leaving Sanji to himself until they retired to their bedroom. Sanji hadn’t said anything, preferring to leave it alone, and now, with Zoro lying on top of him, he felt guilt gnawing away at his heart.
-
“Hey,” Sanji said some time later.
Zoro took time to answer, his breath coming out in a short puff against Sanji’s bare skin. “Yeah?” he said groggily.
“Did you fall back asleep?” Sanji asked.
Zoro groaned, rolling off Sanji and onto his back. He stared up at the ceiling. Sanji rolled onto his side and laid his elbow on the pillow, propping himself up and cradling his head in his hand while he awaited Zoro’s response. “I think I did,” Zoro said.
Sanji smiled. He stared at Zoro, struck by a moment of clarity as the realization that this life, going to sleep with Zoro and waking up next to him each morning, was actually his. Zoro looked at him and caught him staring. He smirked. “Enjoying the view, Curly?”
“Maybe,” Sanji drawled. “You are pretty easy on the eyes, Marimo. Bedhead notwithstanding.”
Zoro rolled his eye at Sanji as he held open his arm invitingly. “Well, what are you waiting for?” he asked when Sanji didn’t move closer. “Come here already.”
Sanji obliged, laying his head on the junction between Zoro’s shoulder and his chest. Inhaling slowly, Sanji loosely wrapped his arm along Zoro’s stomach, enjoying the quiet stillness of their bedroom on this day off work. Idly rubbing his leg against Zoro’s, Sanji reflected over his decision to close the restaurant one day a week when Zoro had asked him about it. Not only did the rest of the men enjoy the free time, but it gave Sanji and Zoro peace and quiet all to themselves. It may have upset some of their clientele, and Zeff had given him some grief over it, but if it made Zoro happy, then Sanji would gladly deal with a few complaints.
Zoro had his arm around Sanji, rubbing the pad of his thumb against his shoulder. Several minutes passed before Zoro spoke again, and the hesitance in his voice made Sanji pay close attention. “Cook...”
“Yeah?”
“There’s something I’ve been wanting to ask you.”
“What is it?”
“What would you say if I told you that Luffy wants to take me with him, Usopp, and Nami on a trip?”
Sanji blinked. They’d spent days, even weeks, apart back when they were searching for the One Piece, including those two years the whole crew had spent apart. In theory, Sanji had no reason to hesitate before answering. But it had been a year since he’d taken Zoro onto the Baratie with him, and they hadn’t spent a night apart since. Sanji had become accustomed to starting and ending his days with Zoro by his side. He found the idea of something disrupting his routine to be daunting.
But he did not voice these thoughts. Instead he said, “How long were you thinking?”
“A few weeks,” Zoro responded. Sanji swallowed. “Maybe a month?”
“Why so long?” Sanji asked.
Sanji felt Zoro shrug. “You can ask Luffy that,” he said. “Something about visiting a few islands before heading back.”
“I see,” Sanji said quietly.
“You didn’t tell me what you think,” Zoro said, his thumb coming to a stop.
Sanji closed his eyes, his thoughts turning to how quiet Zoro had become when Sanji had shot down the idea of the two of them going on a trip together. It wouldn’t kill him to allow Zoro to have some fun with their friends. “I think,” he said, “that I’m going to have to prepare your and the others’ favorite meals before you go.”
-
“All right!” Nami said brightly, looking Zoro up and down. “Got everything you need, Zoro? We’re not turning back once we leave.”
“I made sure he does, Nami-san,” Sanji spoke for Zoro, winking at Nami.
Nami smiled at Sanji, nodding at him. “I know you did, Sanji-kun,” she said, demonstrating her faith in him by turning her attention to the map in her hands as she and the others made the final preparations before they boarded Sunny with Zoro.
Watching her go over the map of the islands she and the others intended on visiting, Sanji felt himself longing for the simplicity of the life he’d shared with his crew. He felt his heart filling up with nostalgia for the days when he and his friends could explore strange islands together, days when they could gather around the same table together and share stories and food. They still occasionally saw each other, but when their crew was scattered around the world, it was difficult to get everyone together at the same time.
Taking a drag from his cigarette, Sanji looked at four of the most important people in his life, and he felt the pull of adventure tugging on his heartstrings.
But he could feel the weight of Baratie and its responsibility all around him.
So Sanji exhaled smoke from his lungs and walked up to Zoro, who had Luffy wrapped around his torso. He held his cigarette between two fingers with one hand and he grabbed Zoro’s face with the other. He pulled him in for a long goodbye kiss, Luffy’s voice in his ear as his former captain tried to convince him to come with them.
-
It was quiet as Sanji got ready for bed. It was often quiet when he and Zoro got ready for bed together, as Zoro was not a loquacious person to begin with, and both had long ago learned to share an easy silence with each other, but this was an empty quiet that Sanji was now unused to.
Sanji stared at his reflection in the mirror as he brushed his teeth, his eyes blank and his jaw stiff, his movements mechanical. He looked at the unoccupied space next to him in the mirror, the beginning of a story about an entitled customer waiting to spring forward from his mouth. If Zoro were with him, Sanji would have pulled his toothbrush out of his mouth and, mouth full of foam, started telling him about his encounter with a customer that had insisted on being served a meal that currently wasn’t on the menu. And Zoro would have listened until Sanji popped his brush back into his mouth to finish brushing his teeth. Zoro, in that straight to the point way of his, would have asked him, “So did you kick his ass?”
Air escaped Sanji’s nose in a small burst of amusement at the thought. He pointed his eyes down toward the sink and spat out the toothpaste, wondering if Zoro was keeping up with the nighttime routine they’d established, and therefore brushing his teeth at the same time as Sanji. Rinsing out his mouth, Sanji could feel the weeks without Zoro stretching out before him, opening a chasm between the two of them.
-
Sanji had intended on waiting at least a week before picking up the Transponder Snail to call Zoro. He wanted to give Zoro time to himself with their friends, but also wanted to prove to himself that he wasn’t so needy that he couldn’t last a week without hearing Zoro’s voice. After all, Sanji thought as he chopped carrots for the stew he was working on, he’d gone longer without talking to Zoro. Surely Sanji wasn’t that needy, that clingy. Surely he had enough going on with the restaurant to keep him preoccupied. Maybe Zoro would end up calling him first.
But Sanji felt his restlessness steadily rising within him as the days passed. Work was as hectic and demanding as ever, and one of Sanji’s primary releases—taking a break in his office with Zoro—was gone, leaving Sanji trembling with an undercurrent of frustration and pent up aggression throughout the day. He’d tried channeling it into work, tried dealing with it on his own in his and Zoro’s room, and he tried calming his nerves by chain smoking like there was a secret prize at the end of each cigarette, all to no avail.
It was when he tried picking a fight with Carne and Patty that he finally gave in.
Sanji, at the end of his patience, goaded the longtime staff members into a fight that they could not possibly win. Carne and Patty, to their credit, fought back as valiantly as they could, but they were no match for Sanji. They knew this. Sanji knew. Zeff, who’d been watching from a corner, knew this.
Zeff had given Sanji one look and jutted his chin toward his former office, silently insisting that they talk. And suddenly Sanji was ten years old again, following Zeff until he came to his senses and took a few quick strides to catch up to Zeff and then move past him on the way to Sanji’s office.
Behind the closed door, Zeff simply told Sanji, “Get your affairs in order, Eggplant. You have no reason to bark at your men like that when they’ve done nothing wrong.”
Sanji had bristled at Zeff and told him to mind his own business, telling him, “Oh, you’re one to talk about lashing out at people when they don’t deserve it!” Privately he knew Zeff was right. However, instead of telling him so, Sanji engaged Zeff in a screaming match until their argument had petered out into little more than red faces and heavy breathing. Zeff had skulked out of the office, remaining silent for the rest of the day. Sanji had come out a short time later, angrily adjusting his tie, daring any one of the chefs in the kitchen to look his way.
Everyone in the kitchen, save Zeff and Sanji, kept their heads down as they worked on their individual tasks, the air thick with tension and their collective unease.
Sanji, walking stiffly back to his station, heard one chef mutter to another, “I miss Zoro.”
Sanji deflated a little at hearing that. Clenching his teeth, Sanji pointedly kept his eyes down as he worked, thinking, I miss Zoro, too.
He called Zoro later that evening.
-
“Cook?”
Sanji smiled at the sound of Zoro’s tinny voice on the other end of the receiver. He’d never heard a more beautiful sound in his life. “Hi, Marimo,” he said, reclining on their bed. “How’s the ‘adventure’ going?”
“Pretty tame,” Zoro said. “I was just thinking about how much more dangerous East Blue seemed back when we were all starting out. Now it feels downright peaceful.”
Sanji chuckled. Zoro’s assessment of the sea they called home brought back memories of how young they’d been when they’d all started sailing together, back when the odd Sea King was their biggest threat. They really had no clue what they were getting into back then. “How’s Luffy?” he asked.
“He’s having a blast,” Zoro said. “I think all he cares about is getting to sail with his friends again.”
The longing to be out on the open sea with his friends again awakened in Sanji, manifesting itself as a weight in his chest. He imagined himself on Sunny again, preparing lunch for them while Luffy and Usopp fished, Zoro napped in the sun or polished his swords, and Nami read in a lounge chair.
“That’s good,” Sanji said. He lay on his side, grasping the receiver in one hand. He comfortably draped his arm along his middle and drew his knees up slightly, imagining Zoro lying in bed behind him and spooning him, rather than talking to him on a Transponder Snail on another ship. “And you? How are you, Zoro? Not missing me too much, are you?”
“Missing you a regular amount,” Zoro said cheekily. The Snail, on its perch on the bedside table next to Sanji, mimicked the relaxed smile Zoro would wear while enjoying Sanji’s company. The only thing better than seeing the Snail replicate his love’s smile would be to see that smile in person.
“So you do miss me,” Sanji teased.
“Course I do,” Zoro said. “You know I do. Why wouldn’t I?”
“I know,” Sanji said. He imagined Zoro wrapping an arm around him, right under Sanji’s own. “It’s just nice to hear you say it.”
“I miss you, Cook,” Zoro said for Sanji’s benefit, and it made Sanji melt.
“I miss you, too,” Sanji said softly, hoping the Snail had picked up his voice.
“And what about you, Cook?” Zoro said. “You wanna tell me what happened today?”
Sanji frowned as he thought back to the fight he’d started with Patty and Carne, then the argument he’d had with Zeff. He shrugged into the open air, wondering if the Snail on Zoro’s end was currently mimicking his movements. “Nothing to report. Everything’s the same as usual around here. The men miss you.”
Zoro laughed. “You’re not being too hard on them without me around to help you...ah...relieve your stress, are you?”
Sanji grimaced, covering his face in shame. “Nope,” he said, his voice slightly strained. He made himself yawn, pretending he’d suddenly been overtaken by exhaustion. “Well, I’m pretty tired. I’ll talk to you later, Zoro.”
“Oh,” Zoro said. “Okay. G’night, Cook.”
“Night, Marimo,” Sanji said. “Love you.”
Sanji ended the call before Zoro could respond.
-
While Sanji slowly adjusted to spending his nights alone, it was in the quiet, stolen moments that he most missed Zoro. Finding a patch of sunlight, perfect for napping; stepping out for a smoke when the lunch rush had finished, picturing himself reaching his hand out and threading his fingers through Zoro’s; stepping into his office for a moment of solitude and picturing Zoro sitting at the window seat, inviting Sanji to sit with him.
Sanji decided to go for walk along Baratie’s deck before turning in for the night. He looked up at the moon and brought his cigarette to his lips, his mind on his and Zoro’s conversation earlier that night.
“When do you think you’ll be coming home?”
“Well, I think Nami’s had enough. Luffy’s begged her to let us visit one last island, and then we can go home. So as soon as we’re done with the next one, we’ll be heading home.”
Sanji inhaled deeply, trying to do the math in his head to figure out how much longer until he got to see Zoro again. Zoro and the others had been sailing for a couple of weeks now, but Sanji figured the trip back would be slightly faster since they wouldn’t be stopping at each island they came across. He only had to wait for just a little longer until he could have Zoro by his side again.
He stared up at the full moon, chuckling at himself for how ridiculous he was being. A month was nothing in the grand scheme of things, really. A month was speck of sand on the beach in the rest of his natural life. Just when had he become so soft? When he’d invited Zoro into his life, he supposed, and all the compromises and changes that entailed.
He let his gaze drift across the sky, taking in the map of constellations as familiar to him as the skin on the back of his hand. Was this how Zoro had felt? This yearning for more, this desire to spend more time with someone inaccessible to him? Sanji hoped that he didn’t make Zoro feel as lonely as he currently felt, hoped that the time they did spend together was better than total solitude, but a picture of what Zoro must have felt was beginning to form in Sanji’s head.
Sanji frowned, gaze falling until it landed on the sea. Remorse seized hold of his heart as he remembered all the small ways Zoro had sought Sanji’s touch in recent months, as if trying to squeeze out every last drop of quality time with Sanji in the fleeting minutes that they had. Just a little of Sanji’s time, that was all that Zoro asked of him. A week, at least, to visit a nearby village and spend some quality time together. Was that really so much to ask for? Sanji no longer thought so.
He thought of leaving the restaurant alone for a week. He could let Zeff watch over things, just like he had for so many years, but Sanji still didn’t like the idea of asking him to take over for him just so he could run away with Zoro for a short time. Running a restaurant was hard work and Zeff had more than earned his rest. So that either left one of the chefs onboard or looking for someone new. Sanji was hard on the men, but he knew any one of them was skilled enough to work as head chef, so long as they put in the work. It was just a matter of finding a man with the right personality.
Sanji would tell Zoro this when he saw him again. The idea of finally relinquishing some of his many responsibilities and letting someone else help out was strange, but Sanji had already alienated Zoro to the point of running off on a month long adventure with their captain. He didn’t want to end up losing him. He’d already lost Zoro once and he wasn’t going to let that happen again.
-
Sanji jumped on Zoro the moment he stepped foot on Baratie’s deck, tightly wrapping his four limbs around him. One hundred men couldn’t remove Sanji from Zoro if they tried.
Zoro took this in stride, supporting Sanji by the thighs. “Hi, Cook,” he managed to say before Sanji started kissing him.
Luffy hooted somewhere behind Zoro, shouting, “Sanji missed Zoro!”
Aware they had an audience, Sanji pulled back, but he grinned at Zoro, whispering, “Guess you should let me down now.”
Zoro laughed softly, his eye crinkling at the corner in a way that made Sanji’s heart melt into a puddle of mush. “I guess so,” he said, setting Sanji down.
Slipping an arm around Zoro, Sanji called to Luffy, Usopp, and Nami, inviting them onto Baratie for a meal to welcome them all back.
-
Pleasantly exhausted, Sanji relaxed into Zoro’s arms. Content smile etched into his face, Sanji breathed in Zoro’s scent, felt the heat of Zoro’s skin against his cheek. All was right with the world. Zoro lay there in bed with him, happy to share this moment with Sanji.
Sanji laid his hand on Zoro’s abdomen, relishing the solid feel of Zoro’s body beneath his touch. “I missed you,” he whispered.
“Missed you, too, Curly.”
“I don’t think you know how much I missed you, though,” Sanji continued.
“I dunno,” Zoro said, “you just gave me a pretty good idea of how much you missed me.”
Sanji paused before responding, frowning. “I’m serious, you know.”
“Mm?”
“Yeah,” Sanji said. “I...had a lot of time to think while you were gone.”
“That so?”
Sanji nodded against Zoro’s chest. “Yeah, it is. And I think... I think you were right.”
“About what?” Zoro asked.
“It wouldn’t kill me to take a vacation.”
Zoro paused at Sanji’s admission. “Yeah?” he said, his voice soft with uncertainty.
Sanji wrapped his arm around Zoro’s torso, gently squeezing. They hadn’t talked about it in so long, but he remembered that nightmarish time when Zoro was convinced that Sanji didn’t value their relationship. It made his heart ache to think that he could potentially make Zoro feel that way again. “Yeah,” he said.
He continued, “I mean, I still don’t want to dump this all on Zeff. But I really gave it some thought, and it wouldn’t hurt me to have someone who can step up for me when I’m not around. Maybe even make the workload a little easier on me. I don’t know, the idea of it is still so new to me. But I want to make you happy. And if that means I need to find someone who can watch over the restaurant while you and I take a small trip together, then I’ll do it.”
Zoro tightened his hold on Sanji, saying nothing. Sanji returned his embrace with the same fervor, smiling against Zoro’s chest.
“It’s really not too much trouble, is it?” Zoro eventually asked.
“It really isn’t,” Sanji responded. He lifted his head off Zoro’s chest so he could properly look at him. “And I’m sorry for making you think that it was.”
“Come here,” Zoro whispered, having nothing else to say.
And Sanji did, closing the gap between their mouths.

It’s hard doing this on my own...
Summary: You’ve gone into another Depressive state...This time. It’s far more violent than the last Depressive spell.
Warning(s): TRIGGERING CONTENT ABOUT EXTREME DEPRESSIVE EPISODES! DO NOT READ IF YOUR NOT COMFORTABLE! Ends with fluff. No gifs.
Word count: 2.9k+
A/N: I’m ok.
Luffy has always known you were...Different, than the others. Sure, everybody in the crew went through some tough times in their past but, they made up for that time to make them and their friends smile more. You however...Struggled with genuinely smiling these days again.
It concerned him how distant and emotionless you became. You kept yourself locked away inside that room, to protect the others from being hurt or feeling guilty...All he saw was that you were locked away in a Cage of Sadness that he couldn’t seem to pull you out of no matter how hard he tried too.
Tonight was no exception to his daily routine. He placed the food that Sanji had made on the floor so you could grab it whenever you were ready, then sat down beside your door on the floor of the ship. “Y/n-san...Dinner’s here....” He said loud enough for you to hear, but not enough to startle you.
Nothing....Just silence.
He waited for a few more minutes before getting worried that you weren’t opening the door for the food, but before his worry could worsen. Your door slightly opened wide enough to drag the tray back in...He wanted to see your face again...He missed it. he missed /you/.  Shockingly enough, you /didn’t/ close the door after grabbing the food. Which confused him to say the least because you never allowed him to see you So Sad.
“Y/n-san?” he called out, stepping up to walk into the room, only to pause when he sees you...So....Hurt. It hurt /him/ seeing you like this. His body moved on it’s own and he hugged you tightly, quite literally wrapping his arms around your body.
You didn’t do anything...No smiles, no tears....Nothing.
That worried him.
“Y-Y/n-san?...” He calls out to you as he still held you. You looked up at him with dead, red eyes from crying so much before now. “Sorry...Luffy...” You weakly started then gave an expressionless chuckle that lacked any kind of excitement, worrying him further, “I can’t feel anything....”
That hit him like a two ton truck. “Can’t feel anything?” What did that mean? Was his hug not working?...He hugged tighter...No real response other than a grunt from being hugged tighter., It didn’t irritate you. It was just uncomfortable and hard to breath properly. Luffy got sad when you didn’t show any response towards his hugs like you used too. So he let go to let you breath better. “You can’t.....Feel anything y/n-san??” He asked again as he held your face, staring dead in your emotionless, empty eyes.
“No....Sorry....” You simply responded, only feeling his hands /slightly/ on your face. Luffy frowned, he was confused on why you were so numb and emotionless now. Was it the Depression you mentioned before? Or was somebody taking your feelings from you against your will? All he could do was sigh and then lift you up bridal style, it hurt not seeing you get flustered about it, but instead, look limp and dead-like in his arms. You seemed a lot more heavier than he expected as well.
He went to chopper, asking for help on what to do, the whole crew was there with you as you just...Quietly sat on the chair you were placed on, and stared at the floor while absorbing everything in. “She’s broken?...” Luffy asked, confused on how you could be broken “Well...Not exactly....But, it’ll take a VERY long time for them to gain their feelings back to normal....They’re hurting.” Choppers words affected the crew, as they were all friends with you. But more importantly, Luffy was affected the most since he was your boyfriend.
Several months later, Luffy did his hardest to try and make your life just a little bit easier for you. Protecting you during battles. making sure the crew respected your wishes when it came to privacy. Making sure that you ate and slept a healthy amount of each thing so you wouldn’t hurt yourself anymore than you were.
The crew was celebrating another Team-Up mission with the Heart Pirates, they knew that Law was a Doctor so, they confirmed that you did in fact, have Severe Depression...And it started getting REALLY bad over time, but that a shift was going to change after a while. Which surprised Luffy to say the least but, he didn’t force you to change for anything.
You were off in your own corner with Zoro, as the two of you had gotten to be close friends before your Depressive state. Luffy was sitting with the two of you since he’s gotten fairly protective over you, over the last several months. You just drinking some Tea and had some of your favorites out of this feast that Sanji and the Heart’s crew had prepared for everybody, minding your own business as you absorbed everything.
You felt....Lighter...MUCH lighter than before...It’s not 100% happiness but, it’s /something/ to say the least. Zoro saw the slight shine that came back to your eyes for a split second, but didn’t comment on it and just left you be. Meanwhile, Luffy was reenacting his fight with a recent enemy that was super strong, you listened in every now and then, but heard that Luffy nearly got killed.
That worried you...Your face warped in concern but, went away fairly quick when he said that he managed to make it out somewhat alright thanks to the crew. You were thankful for them keeping him alive. He was your boyfriend after all.
Your boyfriend........
Your Boyfriend.....
The thought of the fact that you nearly lost your boyfriend to an enemy hit you like a two ton truck. You sat there deadpanned, but you felt something Wet falling down your cheeks. You didn’t move or say anything. Luffy paused when he heard a faint sniffle from your throat...You were crying.
He started to panic, wondering why you were crying all of a sudden. You rubbed your face and held up a hand to make him pause, “I...I’m ok....I’m ok...” You repeated, “How are you ok y/n-san!? Your crying!” he yelled, worried that his story may have triggered you into a relapse. Once you started calming down, you chuckled, albeit it was very soft and awkward, “Sorry...I’m Sorry...It’s just...The thought of losing my boyfriend got me more upset than my Depression that I started crying...” You admitted, now shocking Luffy and the crew that could hear you.
Luffy paused, somewhat stunned by you just admitting that outright...”Y/n-san?...” he asked while waiting for a response from you...You weren’t exactly back to normal, but the very, /very/ small smile you gave was Bright enough for him to notice that you were coming back from being so numb for so long. Luffy was ecstatic to say the least. Even if your smile was small and awkward. You still /smiled/ after so long of being unable too.
Luffy shouted your name out when he flung into your lap, startling you, which caught /everybody’s attention/ this time and turned to see what was happening. Much to their surprise. There you were. Giving a soft smile as your boyfriend hugged you tightly, keeping you close to him. The crew sighed in relief that you were starting to express emotions again.
                                           ----------------------------------
Sanji was always in-tune with your emotions. He could sense that something would be eating at you before you even mentioned it, he made himself become synced with your emotions so that way he could be there for you in any way possible, even if it’s for a short time.
However, when your too quiet and distant. He can’t really do much to help you out. He can’t guess what your feeling that day because you’re avoiding him and the others. He can’t be there for you for emotional support if you’re not willing to accept it from him.
Soon enough. After a couple of months of realizing this familiar pattern of yours, he knew what was up. He knew that you were having yet another Really Bad Depressive episode again...Only this time, it seemed to be FAR worse than what happened the last time. Lasting a longer time than usual...It affected him quite a lot. He felt guilty that he couldn’t hold you or kiss you goodnight/good morning. He couldn’t so much as see your face because you refused to let him see this Ugly Demon of yours.
Today was different. It felt off to him. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it but, while he was out shopping for food supplies on this small Island with the others. Nami had left YOU to take care of the ship. Sanji had to force Usopp to stay behind and help in case the ship got attacked while they were gone.
“--anji-kun??” Nami called out, “SANJI-KUN!!” She yelled, snapping him out of his worried trance over you. “H-Huh?? Sorry..What were you saying??” he asked, snapping back to reality. Nami could only groan in irritation, sighing as she rubbed her face. “Look. If your that worried about y/n-san. Then go back to the ship. Give me your grocery list and I’ll do the shopping for you.” She says while shooing him.
You weren’t expecting to be outside of your room...But it’s not like it was your fault to begin with. You gave an irritated scowl as the guy held you in his bigger arms, practically choking you in the process. You were being used as a hostage to calm down Usopp, and hopefully lure out the other Straw Hats to collect their bounties and turn them in.
“Right...We’ll be taking this lovely lady as well with your treasure...” The guy starts off, but saw that Usopp was about to fight back, so he held out a gun to your head and chuckled. “Don’t even try anything...You move, this girl gets her head blown off.” He threatens before going into a chuckle fit. You looked up at him with your expressionless eyes, a smile was there but, it was creepy. “Sure...go ahead and kill me....But, I don’t think you got the stomach to handle that.” You teased, giving out a small Pfftt sound effect afterwards when he cringed and released you, just letting you fall on your knees.
“Y-Y/n-san! Don’t give him any ideas!!” Usopp shouted, scared for you. All you could do was sigh sadly, “As I thought...” You paused to look up, “You didn’t have the guts to shoot...” You teased again, making the Pirate Hunter flinch again and re-point the gun at you face in point-blank range. “Creepy girl.” He insulted.
But before he could shoot, his head got kicked in and his aim barely missed your head. You sat there, wide-eyed when you saw your boyfriend Sanji, He looked angry as he was literally on fire. You then saw his face up close when he started to fight the other guys, kicking them off the ship or sending them flying into the deeper part of the ocean. By the time he was done, the main leader of the Pirate Hunters had been placed underneath his foot, Sanji was holding his face there, you could see the other guy’s face warping in fear for his own life
Sanji then lifted his leg up, and then a loud /thump/ rang in your ear. he crushed the guy’s skull in, killing him right in front of you. “DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT HURTING /MY/ Y/N-SAN!” He screamed, which made the last remaining few of the Pirate hunters run for it, jumping overboard as they panicked in fear from Black-Leg Sanji.
You stayed still. Shocked as to what exactly had happened. You were about to be killed while you were Depressed....You /wanted it/..You /craved it/....But even so, the feeling of being rescued by your boyfriend...Overwhelmed you. You stayed still and started to cry out loud, startling Sanji out of his anger-trance to go to you and hold you tightly. At first, you didn’t do anything. But after a while, the crying got worse, you clung to him for dear life.
You /wanted to die/...But even so...Being saved by him made you thankful for the save he just did. “T-Thank you Sanji!! I....I thought I w-was gonna...Gonna die!” You panicked, somewhat yelling within your hiccupped sobs. Sanji kept you close and did his best to calm you down from your meltdown, cooing you as he ignored Usopp and his surroundings. “I’m just glad that your feeling better y-y/n-san...” He says, knowing that you weren’t 100% there but, you were alive regardless.
                                           ---------------------------
Despite how Zoro is. He instantly knew that you weren’t.../There/ mentally for the last while the first minute he saw that you hadn’t woken up with him in his bed this time.
This time however....Had gotten pretty bad. A lot of your old habits started showing themselves but, they seemed to be doubled over time. At first he decided to just....Leave you be, in case if you just needed the time to yourself so that way you can focus on getting better. But...Over time when this started to become a constant with your routine. That’s when his panic really started to kick in.
Today marked the 34th day that you kept in your room. Sure, you’d peak out for food and something to drink or snack on, but that was way in the beginning. It’s been three weeks since you barely showed up. Zoro paced back and forth in front of your room, softly mumbling to himself on what he should do. Should he knock on the door? No, that’d startle you..Should he just barge in if it’s unlocked? No..You’d probably hate him if he did that..What if you were blacked out? Or sick? oR DEAD!? “Zoro....If you keep pacing back and forth like that...It won’t fix anything...” Nami said in a worried tone of voice, seeing her friend pace back and forth with worry. Zoro only scoffed and shooed her out. so he could focus on helping you somehow.
Suddenly, a loud /thump/ echoed your room when he listened in, that was enough to get him to just slam the door open in a frenzy, worried out of his god damn mind on what was happening. “Y/n!?” He called out....Nothing. he looked around your small room and noticed that it was a complete disaster. it seemed like you had fought somebody in here. he clicked his tongue, disappointed in himself for being unable to be there during one of your meltdowns when you needed him most.
He paused when he saw your body on the ground, panicking, he started calling out your name loudly. You weren’t dead...Thank god. But you were very weak...Too weak. Zoro yelled to get the other crew member’s attention as he lifted up your weakened body. You were breathing but, it was heavy. “The hell happened??” He asked, feeling a sense of guilt start to wash over, before he moved further though, he felt something tap against his boot. “A bottle?” he turned it over so he could get the label and read it’s content.
He couldn’t fully read it properly but, he got enough of an idea that it completely shocked him. Before the others had arrived, he rushed with your limp body to Chopper’s “office” so he could check up on what was happening with you from a professional...He had an idea but, he didn’t want to assume either.
“Y/n was trying to overdose on something.” Chopper said bluntly while looking at the content from the blood he took from you. He sighed and noticed that it was a medicine that he used to numb his patience when they need severe stitches. “But...They’ll be ok....Luckily you caught them just in time Zoro. Anymore of this could’ve killed them.” Zoro didn’t say much. he just thanked Chopper for the hard work and patted his head gently.
It took a while for you to get back to normal after that night. You felt extremely guilty and kept apologizing to both Zoro and the rest of the crew for what you tried to do. At first, they where angry but after a while, they understood what you were going through and left you alone. Zoro on the other hand, was NOT happy....Not one bit. He wasn’t /livid/ either but, he wasn’t too pleased with what he saw. The scene of him finding your nearly dead body kept playing in his mind. he was terrified of losing you, so terrified that it actually scared him.
Eventually though, you and Zoro were able to talk a little less awkwardly now. The two of you stayed in the workout room just talking about random stuff. A small silence filled the air after a while...You sighed, rubbing the back of your head awkwardly. “...Thank you...” You say quietly, but loud enough for Zoro to hear. “...For saving me that night...”  After hearing you thank him for saving you. At first, he wanted to be petty and make you sit in that guilt for a bit.
But after a short few moment, he caved in and wrapped his arms around you tightly. You didn’t say anything but, you could tell he was upset, as he shivered a bit within the hug. “Don’t ever do that again y/n...” He starts off then paused to inhale, “If you need to talk to somebody. I’m here. I’ll always be here.” he lets go so that way he can kiss your forehead and put you on his lap to cuddle you again. “I can’t stand the thought of you not being by my side.” he admits, which really warmed your heart.
You sighed and patted his head gently, “...I promise to turn to you from now on.” You say as the two of you cuddled then fell asleep in each others arms.

Can I please request platonic straw hats x female teen reader, more specifically with nami & robin, like they would think that she doesn’t like them because she requested to have her own small room and doesn’t really talk to them & is always glued to her books . But she’s just Quiet & keeps to her self. Fluffy ending please & thank you 😊. ( sorry for the long request😅)
The Straw Hats With A Teen! Shipmate Who Keeps To Herself
Tumblr media
a/n : hey! Sorry if this is a bit short but I hope you enjoy!! Thanks for requesting! :)
SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG 😭
Summary : the straw hats with a shipmate who’s a teenager and tends to keep to herself, causing them to believe she doesn’t like them.
-
“She’s eating alone again..”
Seeing you walk off into your room, with a tray of Sanji’s food in your hands, through the small window of the kitchen door made the crew sigh.
“We can’t force her to eat with us though, it’s her own decision.” Usopp points out, arms crossing as he ate a piece of meat.
Nami only frowns at Usopp and continues to stare over at the doorway, wondering if you had a problem.
She couldn’t even remember if there was ever a time where you actually sat down WITH the crew to eat, since the day you first joined.
Did you hate them? Then why join? Or were you just that introverted, that you even had asked to have your own room?
Since you were a girl and younger than most of them, the crew agreed to your request but they never thought it’d create a giant wall between you and the others.
In fact, you were so isolated from them since you never did anything with the crew, except maybe fight with them during battles.
For example, you would read, eat, draw, sleep and relax in your room, away from the others. The door was often locked so the others had to knock on the door to check up on you, but even then, they weren’t always let inside.
Robin closes her eyes and thinks back to herself. If she has to admit, you reminded her a bit of her past self. Before she joined the crew, she was always reserved and kept to herself, only occasionally speaking with others.
But was your reason the same as hers back then?
“Maybe she’s just being a normal girl teenager, doing teen things. They are often quiet and keep to themselves right?” Franky suggests, chomping down at his burger with his mini hand.
“Not all teenagers are like that.” Nami scoffs, rolling her eyes as she poked at her food with a fork. A pout could be seen on her lips.
“...but why does she always leave? Do you think she doesn’t like us?” Chopper frowns sadly, eyes just glossing over his plate without touching it.
The group only sat in silence. But everyone had mixed feelings about you.
-
Luffy was concerned and a bit confused by you. He didn’t understand why you stranded off from the group and often did try to talk to you, but he figured it was a girl thing. Maybe you didn’t like the boys?
Zoro was indifferent about it, because as long as you at least fought with the group and was loyal to Luffy, he didn’t mind that you often spend time alone. Hell, he can kinda understand the need to get away from the group for a bit.
Sanji was pretty saddened about it, he hates to not see your cute but rare smiles at times, but he at least has a sense that you enjoy his food since you come back with the tray empty, so he’s glad about that in the very least.
Usopp is also a bit confused and wishes you spend more time with the crew and bond with them, but he respects your decision if you want to be alone. He just wants to be able to get to know you.
Nami is pretty upset, because now that there’s another girl to gossip with, spend time with and bond with through all these chaotic boys, she’s sad that you don’t seem to want to be around any of them and just keep to yourself. Did you really dislike them that much? Did they do something?
Chopper finds it saddening because it seems like you don’t like them. You don’t want to spend time with the crew at all and it’s sad for him because you seem really kind and sweet and he wants to know you more! And if you’re ever sick, he might not be able to help you since you’re in your room a lot.
Franky doesn’t quite get it either. You joined the crew but you don’t even hang out with them, even if it’s to do stupid things? Not even to just do whatever you want on your own, but in the presence of the crew?
Robin is secretly disappointed. She had hoped she could be able to spend time with another female around and perhaps teach you some things since you seem to share her love of books. But she’s understanding in the very least.
Brook both understands and feels indifferent. He can’t force you to spend time with the crew but he does hope to see you warm up and spend some time with the group one day.
-
“It can’t be helped.”
Hearing Robin, the crew all watch as she stood up, finished with her sandwich and tea and make her way over to the door with the gentle smile on her face.
“I’ll go check on her. Maybe it’s time we asked if everything’s alright.” She suggests and the others widen their eyes a bit.
“You’re right. I’ll go with you.” Nami smiles determinely, standing up from her seat and went over to the door as well, standing beside Robin.
“Yohohoho~ good luck!” Brook calls out just before the girls closed the door and walked out.
-
Nami and Robin shared a glance before nodding in unison and Nami knocks against the wooden door.
You were so invested in your book while eating, you didn’t hear the knock at first, until Nami’s voice was followed after.
“[Name]? It’s Nami and Robin. Can we come in?”
Tilting your head at their request, you glance down at your tray of [ Favorite Food ] that Sanji prepared especially for you, and then moved it aside onto your desk.
Closing your book and setting it on the bed in front of you, you stood up and walk over to the door, peeking your head out when you opened it just a crack.
“..What is it?” Your voice was so soft and quiet, they almost didn’t hear you.
Robin simply smiles gently and hums. “Did you finish eating?” She questions and you shake your head. “No.”
Nami smiles awkwardly before clearing her throat. “Actually, we just wanted to talk. Is it okay if we come in?” She says, her hand slowly making it onto the door and you stare at her a bit.
It was just the two of them, but you were hoping to just relax and eat in peace.
Though, knowing Nami, she wasn’t one to give up and you weren’t going to try to argue with her.
So sighing lightly, you pull open the door wide and allowed them entrance, closing it behind them when they came and locked it, as usual.
Walking past them, you went over to the bed and sat down, picking up your book and grab the tray of food onto your lap to finish eating, ignoring their stares that lingered on your form.
“Whatcha reading?”
Glancing at Nami’s bright smile as she made herself comfortable on the edge of your bed, Robin sitting on the other side.
Shifting a bit and repositioning yourself against your headboard and in center to keep a distance from the two, you turn down to the book.
“It’s a novel.. called Heaven’s Official Blessings.”
You answer quietly, turning the page in your novel and then used your hand to pick up a piece of your food.
“That’s the one about the God and the Demon lord, right?” Robin hums and you nod in response. “I haven’t read it myself, but I heard good reviews of it. What’s your opinion on it?”
You shrug a bit. “I don’t know. I didn’t finish.” You answer, motioning to the page you were on which was a little less than halfway.
Robin chuckles and nods. “Fair point.”
“Well, what’s it about?” Nami speaks again, trying to continue the conversation but you just chew on your food and held out the book for her to look at.
Nami blinks a bit before seeing the summary of the novel in the front and shakes her head. “I want to hear you read it.”
Furrowing your brows, you only swallow your food and frown. “Why?” You didn’t prefer talking and you didn’t understand why when she could easily just read the synopsis.
Nami giggles sheepishly before shrugging. “I just wanna hear your voice some more.”
You gave her a weird, skeptical look as you move the now empty try back onto the desk and bookmark the page you were on before closing it in silence.
The room was quiet, Robin’s eyes observing you while Nami’s roamed the room.
“Say... do you hate us, [Name]?”
“..huh?”
Turning serious, Nami turns away and stares around the room a bit more, Robin’s smile slowly fading as her lips turn to a firm line.
“You asked to have your own room.. you never eat nor spend any time with us. Is there a reason for your separation from us? Have we done you a wrong? If so, please tell us so we can fix it.”
Lips parting in shock at their question, your eyes widening along, you just stare at them. You hadn’t even realized you were so.. away from them. You were just doing what you normally do even back in your island, it was just habit.
“[Name]?”
Blinking, you quickly shake your head before calming down a bit, taking a soft breath. “I-I don’t hate you.. You guys didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Then why are you avoiding us?” Nami asks with a sigh, running a hand through her orange locks of hair and brushed it with her fingers.
“..I didn’t realize I was.. I was just enjoying time alone.” You admit honestly, eyes trained on the novel in your hands. “I figured I just read in peace until it was time for Luffy’s new adventure or something.”
“Uh.. besides, I.. I don’t really like hanging out in big groups or anything like that. I’m not very social so I’m not good in that stuff.” You add, rubbing your arm before rubbing the back of your neck awkwardly.
Nami and Robin stare at you, clearly surprised at your answer as they slowly exchanged glances, just seconds before a snort being heard.
Nami then busts out into light laughter, hands clutching her stomach while one went to wipe tears forming. Robin herself was expressing a few amused and relieved giggles, covering them with her hand a bit.
“Is that really all it is?”
“I guess we were worried for nothing.”
The two women smile brightly at you as Nami goes over and hugs you tightly.
“All of us were worried you hated us or something but now we understand! You’re just shy!” Nami grins, nearly asphyxiating you in her chest as you struggle to pull away from her.
“I must say, I am relieved to hear that isn’t the case though. If you’re just someone who prefers to keep to yourself, it’s amazing you somehow managed to continue to stay on this ship.” Robin lightly jokes as you finally pull away from the navigator and inhaled deeply.
“Come on, you. We’re going to spend time with the crew and each other, so you will open more and we can get to know you. Okay?”
Already pulling your hand, you felt yourself get forced up off the bed before you could even protest or reach for your book.
“W-wait, but-“
“No buts!” She turns back to give her signature grin to you. “Unless you wanna pay me to let you back to your room alone, you are now going to spend the rest of the day with us!”
Robin smiles, seeing you being dragged off by their navigator and despite you looking helpless and even a little lost,
She could see the faint ghost of a defeated smile forming on your lips.
Whether it was because you were just in disbelief and accepted your fate, or because you truly did want to spend some time with the crew at some point one day,
Robin was just glad to be able to see you smiling and getting to spend time with the group.
Maybe this will let you be more comfortable and spend time around then even more in the future.
Grabbing your tray from earlier, Robin began to leave the room and closed the door behind her, a soft smile present as she hears the loud commotion from the kitchen.
“Finally a family.”
-

Hey so I read that ask about brook and was wondering if u would write something like everyone was talking about love and stuff (basically nami) and brook just remembers about his lover before they both died (they were the part of his crew) and unintentionally says it all loud in front of the crew. Like how would they react?? I will leave that up to you since I just love the way you write. Ohh and no pressure feel free to ignore !
I'm loving the Brook love being sent my way guys! I hope you like this!
Brook x GN Reader SFW Angst word Count: 505
Tumblr media
Once a little drink flowed the crew often drifted into deeper conservation. Maybe she missed Vivi, it had been longer than she cared to remember since she had gotten to spend time with the princess, but the navigator brought up the topic of love regardless.
Some of the crew recalled crushes on home islands, love that was deep friendships and some had never thought about the topic.
Brook lifted his teacup to his face and paused, thinking about the person he had loved most in the world. It had been a long time since he thought about them, it still hurt him to this day he couldn't be with them in the afterlife, no chance of reuniting.
He sighed softly and set his teacup down gently on the table, staring out the window as he recalled them. The way they laughed at his jokes, how they were always so cheerful and upbeat even when they had gotten sick.
One of his fondest memories came to him, the time he sat playing violin to himself when everyone else had gone to sleep. How he’d heard them softly singing to his tune, walking along the deck looking sleepy, his absence had been what woke them. He could remember their voice clearly as if it had been yesterday, they’d sang for him and not years.
How they’d wanted to learn the violin on a groggy whim, Brook remembered the way they felt sat in front of him, their back to his chest, his arms around them as he delicately placed the instrument in their arms, leading their movements hand on their elbow.
The way the instrument sounded in their untrained hands, them and him laughing at their novice movements. Brook idly touched where his lips would have been, the way his love would give him such softy sweet pecks.
He’d held that precious memory close to his heart, he thought about that moment as much as he could, trying to replace the one of his love falling to the ground, taking their last breath before he soon joined you.
The skeleton straw hat hummed to himself and once again started to drink his tea “B-brook” He glanced over and saw Nami and Usopp with tears in their eyes holding each other’s hands while they sniffled.
“Oh no, did I say that out loud?” he hadn’t meant to.. Chopper and Luffy’s bottom lips jutted out as they let themselves cry freely. Zoro had a sombre expression, the smallest hint of sympathy on the swordsman’s face.
Franky was a blubbering mess in the corner telling Brook he’d write him a song as sad as his tale. Sanji made a noise from the kitchen area, sounding strangled and in pain. “I didn’t mean to.. upset everyone.” Brook tried to chuckle weakly.
The only other straw hat not brought to a blubbering mess was Robin, the elegant woman placed her hand on Brook’s shoulder “What a beautiful memory, you must love them deeply” Robin smiled at him. “Yes, and I always will”
