i do love when people are like “well there’s no proof gaemon is actually a dragonseed he’s probably not aegon’s bastard” like first of all it is basically book AND show canon that a lot of targs were fucking and sucking their way through dragonstone and flea bottom i’d wager it’s pretty fucking likely a lot of the claimed dragonseeds are exactly what they claim to be, second of all it is hammered home that while people from lys or volantis can ~have the look~ the actual targaryen look is rare, and third of all. listen we know i love that wet little rat man aegon ii but be serious lmao

It must have been horrifying for Aegon, Aemond, and Helaena in the years before the dance, all three of them experiencing varying levels of heightened paranoia and unrest every single day.
Viserys was sicky-looking even in ep 6, and the chance of him dying (even then) was pretty high. I can’t imagine that uncertainty breeding anything but fear and worry among everyone.
From their inception, the kids lived in this constant “flight or fight” state, not knowing if Rhaenyra would ever return to the Red Keep, not knowing if Daemon would just turn up at the gates and demand their heads, not knowing if one day Viserys would just disinherit them at the request of his ‘only child.’
Aegon getting drunk every night because the alternative would be thinking of his (very likely) visit to the executioners block; Aemond throwing himself into every lesson, every practice fight with Criston, every flight with Vhagar, because he knows that this period of peace is a farce; Helaena flinching at every touch and sound because she simply doesn’t know whether that’s a friend, or whether the beasts have finally caught up with her.
Alicent going to bed each night, knowing that in the morning, her children’s heads might decorate the walls of the Keep. That one day, she’ll go into Helaena’s rooms and find her missing; that Aegon may never return from his visits to the city; that Aemond may just take the fight to Dragonstone just to end the painful wait that Rhaenyra has (unknowingly, which makes it worse) subjected them all to.
That if her father messes up again, Viserys will send him away (again), that she’ll be alone (again) in a castle that doesn’t want her (again), without allies or friends (again).
Can you imagine living in that state for a week, let alone two decades?

A future fic carcass I'll write when I write (after I finish 9 ungoing fics)
King Viserys dies at the wedding celebration of his daughter, Crown Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.
No one else does.
I am a firm believer Otto and Viserys are the rot on the face of the House of the Dragon and without these two everything would be fine-ish.
Unfortunately, we need Vissy T for his kids to be born, so Viserys dies soon after Aemond is conceived. Sorry, Daeron, not this time.
Joffrey doesn't die because he doesn't manage to provoke Criston before the king dies.
Rhaenyra overrules his father's decision and marries Harwin Strong.
Their son Jacaerys Targaryen is the heir to the throne, Lucerys Targaryen is the heir to Harrenhal.
Daemon marries Laena and lives at Dragonstone (Rhaenyra grants him that), their firstborn is the heir of Driftmark.
Laenor joins the Queensguard and is sent to Dragonstone to protect Prince Daemon (ha) and his future heirs.
Criston Cole becomes the Commander of City Watch while still retaining his white cloak (what? He did it in canon, can do it here).
Rhaenyra removes Tyland Lannister as the master of ships and appoints Corlys Velaryon (back).
When Baela and Rhaena are born, it is decided to betroth Prince Aegon and Lady Baela, making him future lord-consort of Driftmark (and successfully removing him out of succession of the iron throne).
When Jace is born, his and Helaena's betrothal is announced.
Baelon is born without an issue and the royal family meets at the celebration on Dragonstone, where Aemond claims Cannibal and loses an eye in the process.
(Kinslayer, everyone. It fits).
Afterwards Luke is sent as a ward to Harrenhal with his father. A huge ass scene ensures there Luke clings to Aemond and refuses to go.
Aegon makes a greasy comment and gets punched.
Both Aegon and Baela are sent as wards to Driftmark.
Lucerys still leaves.
Harrenhal doesn't burn bc even if Larys kills Harwin and Luke, there's still Lyonel and Joffrey in the equation. Lyonel keeps serving Queen Rhaenyra as her Hand.
Years later the royal family meets at the wedding celebration of Baela and Aegon, where Luke and Aemond behave very much like Rhaenyra and Daemon at Rhaenyra's not happened wedding.
Rhaenyra and Alicent clutch at their pearls, Rhaenyra suggests father died because of seeing something like that.
Daemon asks if she implies they killed Viserys, then asks where is Baelon.
Laena replies Baelon is playing knights with Joffrey.
Rhaenyra and Harwin Strong (no) have three more children, Aegon, Viserys and Visenya, all silver-haired like their mother (her uncle).
Laena is fine with it, they have a poly. Laena doesn't have more children because Baelon's birth was a ghasty one.
Baelon claims the Grey Ghost.
Otto is never called back to the capital because (suprise!) Rhaenyra didn't rush to kill her 3 y.o brother or the other one who was born after Viserys' death. Instead she marries Aegon off so he's no threat.
Aemond eventually joins the Queensguard and is appointed to the future lord of Harenhall.
Lucerys refuses to marry and appoints his brother Viserys as his heir, who marries Visenya. They have a very good life in Harrenhal.
The reason Luke skips over Joffrey is because Joffrey is always at the sea (with Baelon), and Aegon the Younger is bethrothed to Baela and Aegon the Elder' firstborn, Laena.
Everyone lives happily ever after, Otto gets to be the head of the house Hightower after he successfully plots against his own kin, since his blood is secured on the throne, if in unconventional for him way.
He once tried to manipulate Aegon, but was cut off sharply by Rhaenys and Corlys, who kind of adopted the boy as theirs.
Aegon enjoys wandering about Essos very much, he, of course, whores around, but he and Baela have an agreement. One of Baela's children is born from Alyn of Hull, but no one is any wiser, since everyone just thinks the child looks like her.
Jacaerys and Helaena have three kids, Jaehaerys and Jaehaera and then Maelor.
Jaehaera is oldest and so is the heir.
Oh, and Rhaena is happily married to Corwyn Cobray. They have a daughter, Rhaenys.

Yeah make it make sense, every day I log in here and see people cursing out Daemon while calling Aegon their silly little guy.
i rarely see this anymore because my dash is so curated and i have half the fandom blocked (i’m trying to be in my lucille bluth i won’t hear it and i won’t respond to it era) but lmfaooo i know what you’re talking about. many people absolutely incapable of being normal about daemon despite continually wishing everyone on team black was on his level!
no one has to like him—and i obviously get why some people wouldn’t—but the difference in the way people talk about him and aegon really is sooo funny because it always comes across to me as like “our sacred canonical rapist who is just a silly boy actually so we’re going to ignore that vs your vile groomer who shouldn’t be around children or on my blog and i WILL bring this up every time i am forced to mention him.” like…. the dissonance? anyway all of these characters are insane and fun and compelling to me. i love them all (rhaenyra alicent dameon most), so i really don’t get it.

it’s really sad that i always looked forward to rhaenyra and/or alicent scenes last season but i now feel the urge to fast forward every time one of them comes on screen
- every alicent scene is her looking sad or crying or her with cole but nothing she does adds anything of value to the plot
- we get the same black council scene in which the men are undermining rhaenyra twice per episode and still nothing is done (i do believe she will make some progress in the next episodes but it’s just so boring to watch her have the same scene over and over again)
cersei and dany i miss you both so much

okay review for 2x2: the vast majority of it was really good imo even if i couldnt stand how b&c was done in the previous episode & honestly i wish jace up in the north was a subplot like how it was in the books, aegon & helaena were rly out here pulling at my heartstrings yall gotta leave my girl ALONEEEE, also aegon sir thats ur WIFE give her a hug RIGHT NOW, i like how they focused a bit on the dragonseeds' backstories & the common people but where the FUCK is nettles the baddest dragonseed of them all, daemon & rhaenyra's entire scene had me chewing on the bars of my cage like my old gerbil used to do, the only annoyance i have is. does almost every alicent scene have to be an alicole smut scene orrrr. bc like. ok we Get It lmao

Hi, sorry for the stupid question but I'll do it anyway. What color hair and eyes do you think the Targaryen family has? I've always had the impression that Rhaenyra inherited Viserys's purple eyes but hers are more inhuman almost fuchsia and silvery white hair from her mother Queen Aemma (I have the headcanon that Daella had the lightest hair among her siblings after Aemon and his daughter Aemma inherited it), Daemon has darker silver hair, plus silver gray contrasting with pale lilac eyes, Viserys would have purple eyes and silver hair with streaks of gold, NOT PLATINUM BLONDE HAIR. Aegon like the canon, he looks a lot like his father so he would have the same color of eyes and hair, Aemond would have silvery gray hair and violet eyes, Helaena instead would have hair of a similar tone to her older sister but her eyes would be a bluish violet, and Daeron would be the most beautiful after Rhaenyra, she would have light silver curls with delicate golden streaks and bright purple eyes but lighter than those of her older half-sister.
hi! it's not stupìd at all! Visuals are important and they help imagining the characters so your questions is really interesting! I'm sorry for taking so long to answer this but I wanted to really think about it and give a genuine answer instead of writing down whatever I was feeling like at the moment
Tbh my interpretation of their looks is quite different from yours, but please don't take my response as me correcting you or anything else. Pretty much all the characters you mentioned don't have specific descriptions of their colors in canon, so really, there's no right and wrong.
The beauty of imagination is how we don't think the same, and your descriptions definitely made me rethink some of my own ♥
So with that being said let's start:
Targaryen looks (dance era)
The Targaryens generally seem to have white or silvery gold hair because the family is originally from Old Valyria. In f&b a big majority is described as silver-gold (which doesn't help us at all George🙄) Of course hair color varies as we have seen, some have no trace of silver and only gold, some others have more silver, some others have a mix of both colors, and in rare cases we have seen their hair being described as white.
Now, when it comes to the characters I have the tendency to look at the family tree and make a conclusion of their appearance with whatever little description we're given.
In the case of Rhaenyra's we know from f&b that she was extremely beautiful. Daemon declared her the fairest maid in all the Seven Kingdoms, she had a large number of suitors fighting for her hand in marriage, the queen at the time and stepmother felt antagonism towards her despite her young age, and we even later see her appearance being weaponized during the war when men were trying to bring her down.
But what did she look like? well, precise description for her colors is never given but I headcanon that she was Viserra come again; beautiful with the deep purple eyes, flawless white skin, and fine features
While I don't picture her hair as exactly silvery white, I do think that Rhaenyra inherited the rare color from her great uncle, Aemon (her grandfather's brother) and she too had pale hair, shining like white gold.
I also imagine her to be on the short side. (random, i know but I've been dying to mention it) Daella was tiny and her mother Queen Alysanne was described to be a "small woman". So Aemma inherited the looks and height from both women (not to mention her father Rodrik was also described as short man as well) and passed it down to her own daughter, also Alysanne had honey colored hair so imagine Daella and Aemma bore similar colors with some silver perhaps. Thus some hint of gold that Rhaenyra may have in her hair comes from these two.
It's not the first time that I hear someone else describing her eyes as bright, but in my mind they were always a dark violet shade - which her son, Aegon iii later inherited. As I mentioned her hair is a white gold (absolutely not blond) and they fall in big loose curls any time she doesn't wear them in braids.
For Daemon, I agree with you. I see him with silver straight hair with no trace of gold (basically a reverse of his mother Alyssa who had dirty blonde hair and no silver) and with lilac eyes.
I headcanon Viserys to also have the silver-gold hair but as he grew older the silver became more evident and as you mentioned, he has purple eyes. His hair is also more wavy than curly.
As in canon, Aegon II looks like him. Though I imagine his hair slightly more silver, similar to Aemond's.
Helaena takes after her great grandmother Alysanne, aka she doesn't have a trace of silver hair in her head. Her strands are honey-colored and her eyes are a bluish violet as you mentioned.
Aemond's straight hair is silver gold but the silver is way more evident and his eyes are a bright violet color (similiarly to how his grandmother's Alyssa one eye had been)
As for Daeron, i wouldn't call him the most beautiful after Rhaenyra 'cause that's quite a huge to compete but he was indeed the most popular of his brothers, though I think that was mostly because of his better manners rather than just beauty, but he is beautiful as all targaryens tend to be. I think of him with soft curls like Rhaenyra's and his hair is a perfect mix of silver-gold, I'm uncertain about his eye color so I'm gonna agree with you on that one.
Thank you again for this very interesting ask and I'm sorry for taking so long to reply it 💕

as much as i enjoy seeing the hotd scripts we need to remember that these things are not necessarily canon. this was a very early draft and the art of scriptwriting requires that things evolve and change as you rewrite. it's clear that they made several substantial changes since that early draft; the characters we're reading in the scripts are not necessarily the characters that came to life on screen

Daemon, that little bitch. Throwing in his own name instead of supporting his wife is SO in character for him.
Essentially splitting the vote between their household when Rhaenyra is already at a disadvantage (some at her own peril/bc of her own choices but some of it just bc the realm doesn’t like women)… yeah he’s going to hell fr
He’s def the type to be like “But you’ll be queen… consort :)”. He would spin in to Rhaenyra as some sort of favor to her. That it would be better if they ruled together versus Aegon. Unfortunately knowing how he groomed her, Rhaenyra would probably think he meant that regardless of what her gut is telling her ☹️
Tangent but I imagine her becoming disappointed/disillusioned with her marriage after the council happens. Though the idea was silly to say the least, and that’s putting it nicely, there was a reason why she went to Daemon (outside the grooming). She thought she would be protected. That her claim would be safer with another targaryen, especially one as volatile as Daemon. I think a humbled, frankly slightly depressed Rhaenyra would be interesting to see. It also might finally get her to see where Alicent was coming from all those years. How much her trauma and paranoia drove her to choices
While Alicent, though it does not wipe out the horrible trauma she went through, can try to reconcile that it was worth it bc Aegon is king and her family is safe. Rhaenyra on the hand has to work through that mess… basically alone :/

Look, I don't care which side you are on in this mess, but whenever I hear "rightful" or "by law" it makes me laugh.
As if the Targaryens didn't just make shit up as they went along FOR EVERY SINGLE RULER upto now
As if the whole point wasn't to show that there is no "by right"
Like, there are reasons, there are good reasons for either side, but this just isn't it...
