Random Ultraman Rising Moments I Loved
Decided to rewatch Ultraman Rising & I enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time. Thus, I've decided to compile a list of random moments that made me love the movie & its characters even more.
WARNING: SPOILERS UP AHEAD
(P.S. sorry for the lackluster screenshots ;p)
Ken's Intro
Tumblr media
This one simple line already shows the audience Ken's empathy. Despite resenting his Ultraman responsibilities, he doesn't hate kaiju.
Ken's Childhood
Tumblr media
This frame is full of adorable details. There's the obvious ones, like Ken wearing Ultraman & baseball merch, showing us that even before his relationship with his dad went sour, he already had a loyal love for the sport. We also see toy cars, a mecha & the BINGO bunny, all of which would be present in his base.
The Interview Intro
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see Ken getting the celebrity treatment & him wearing the celebrity mask. However, even the mask isn't malicious. He addresses the reporter by his name instead of the news station he's representing. When Ami tries to ask more personal questions unrelated to his baseball career, he doesn't get huffy or defensive at her. Instead, he reminds the crowd to remain civil & it isn't until she explicitly asks about his mom that he leaves.
People shouldn't expect rewards for basic decency, but I'm not against acknowledging acts of kindness & respect you don't often see in an environment as cutthroat as a celebrity interview.
Ken's 'Giants'
Tumblr media
Imo, there's 2 ways for the term 'Giants' to be interpreted here.
(1) Ken is referring to Ultraman, & by extension his dad. One's a literal giant while the other is metaphorical, esp for kids.
(2) He's referring to the possibility of making friends. As he mentioned to Ami, he knows firsthand how 'kids will always talk', implying that he's been bullied & ostracized as a child, possibly due to his Japanese heritage or some other reason that's nonetheless soured Ken's perception of friendship.
Ken & Ami's 1-on-1s
Ngl, when I saw the trailers, I braced myself for the possibility that Ami would serve as Ken's possible love interest. However, that's not the case, which I'm grateful for. Still, that doesn't take away how interesting Ami is as a character.
Tumblr media
Their first interview is set up beautifully. They're sitting face-to-face but there's a table between them. And then there's the way they present themselves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ken is dressed casually, practically oozing 'cocky young celebrity without a care in the world'. He's wearing sunglasses indoors, that also cover his eyes. It's a classic character design trope meant to make someone look stern, intimidating, stoic, reserved, closed-off from everyone.
Ami on the other hand is dressed professionally, as she takes her job seriously. But her glasses are transparent & not aesthetical. She has to be fair & objective, yes, but she also values honesty, transparency & empathy. Its these traits that make her a reliable person for Ken to turn to when he was struggling with parenting Emi.
Tumblr media
Interview #2. They're sitting next to each other instead of opposite, but there's still a table between them. Still, this time Ken isn't wearing sunglasses & he's more put-together whereas Ami is dressed more casually. Ken has opened up to her & he wants to keep trying; she in turn meets him in the middle.
Tumblr media
This culminates into the final interview. Unlike the previous times, it's clearly one that's broadcasted to the public. Despite this, Ken again, isn't wearing sunglasses or putting on an attitude. There's no table between them because this is the climax of Ken's character development: he's learned that it's okay to be vulnerable, it's okay to show others that you're being vulnerable.
Ken's Comfort
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Ken's reminded of his inadequacy as Ultraman, he turns to the one thing that makes him happy: baseball. But he doesn't ask Mina to pull up videos of the crowd cheering or him winning; instead, he watches recordings of his mom, of the happy memories he shared with her. Yes, Ken has an ego. But underneath it all, he genuinely loves baseball because that sport is deeply tied to the love he has for his mom.
Not Gossip Hour
Tumblr media
.....am I the only one who couldn't help but cheer Ami on when she called this guy out?
Prof. Sato's Cheer
Tumblr media
Nobody, esp parents, should force their children to become someone they don't want to be. It's even more heartbreaking when both parties have little choice in the matter because of how necessary the duty is. Parents are flawed people, but I wouldn't call Prof. Sato a bad one.
Yes, he wants Ken to do better as Ultraman too. But he knows how much his son loves baseball & does support his achievements in them.
Mother's Corpse
Tumblr media
Sometimes, a brief glance can convey a thousand words. In this brief glance, Ken doesn't see a defeated kaiju, he sees the corpse of a mother & he'll be damned if he lets the KDF add a baby's corpse to accompany her.
Mina is Awesome
A good plot is always appreciated but good characters are always loved & Mina isn't an exception. Let's hear it for the orb robots that always act as a voice of reason!!
But srsly, I love Mina. I love her wit, how her voice has that robotic yet motherly lilt, how she cares for Ken's wellbeing but isn't afraid to put her foot down to push him in the right direction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In her final moments, she doesn't say 'you must/have to save her', she knows she doesn't have to. Instead, she tells him 'you can save her'. Sometimes, people are so focused on making sure others know what they have to do that they neglect to let them know that they believe they can accomplish it.
Onda's Humanity
Tumblr media
Which brings me to another character I loved: the antagonist himself. Loved how they made him nuanced & sympathetic. Yes, he's ruthless, pragmatic & the 'end justifies the means' sort of person. However, unlike most military bad guy leaders, he cares for those under his command.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His screentime with Captain Aoshima is brief, but I enjoyed all of it. He doesn't berate Aoshima when he fails to capture Emi, nor does he lash out at him when he wavers in their mission. Instead, he encourages & empathizes with him.
Lots of fans speculate that Aoshima will have a more major role in a future sequel & I rlly hope that when the time comes, he'll be just as complex & engaging to watch as his predecessor had been.
"I Don't Know What To Do"
Tumblr media
Kids are usually the target audience for Ultraman, but you cannot tell me this moment didn't hit home for parents. That moment where your child gets hurt because you looked away for a second; the first time your child falls ill & you wonder if a common cold will kill them before old age.
Whether you're a parent, older sibling or someone working in medical/childcare, having to say those 6 words will be the most devastating moment of your life. I'm certain that for Ken, it was nothing less.
Final Boss
Tumblr media
Let it not be said that Ken doesn't know his final battle clichés.

Fate?
Summary: Sonic never cared about soulmates, but in a world where everyone had a red string of fate wrapped around their finger, Sonic decided to wear gloves.
Read the rest below!
To put it bluntly, Sonic had never cared about soulmates.
He wasn’t exactly unique in this mindset. In this modern day and era, it was only slightly progressive to spend your entire life without ever meeting your other half, let alone devoting your life to them. Radical ideas, such as platonic soulmates, familial soulmates, or even soulmates being bad if you ended up paired with the wrong person were common talking points in the general public and media. That red string of fate which had governed entire lives in the past no longer seemed critical to most people.
Sonic didn’t care about any of that either. In fact, until he started hanging around populated human areas more often, he didn’t realize there was so much controversy about it. He always lived how he wanted, paying barely any attention to the subject.
-
Sonic’s friends all had very different opinions about soulmates.
Tails was kind of like him, in that he didn’t care about the red string encircling his pinkie and leading to a far-off point in the distance- or, at least, he pretended not to. Amy had been heartbroken that she and Sonic weren’t soulmates, before deciding to prove to Sonic and the world that true love couldn’t be predetermined by fate (her words, not his). Knuckles didn’t want to leave his duty for long enough to find his soulmate, and had admitted to Sonic once that he felt bad for whoever his soulmate was. Cream was excited to find her soulmate when she got older, but wasn’t under any illusion that it was a requirement for happiness in life, considering that her own mother was forever trailed by her own cut string, dragging limply on the ground, and seemed just fine despite that. Blaze and Silver both viewed it as a luxury that they couldn’t indulge in (ironic, because their shared red string of fate was apparently strong enough to cross through time and dimensions). Vector didn’t care about it at all, considering that he had his eyes set on Vanilla. Espio thought it would get in the way of his “duties as a ninja”, whatever that meant. Charmy just didn’t like the idea of relationships in general. Rouge hated the concept in general, Shadow refused to talk about it, and Omega said he would refuse to accept his soulmate unless they were willing to help him destroy Eggman. Big had a gentle kind of apathy towards his string. Whisper didn’t talk much about the subject to begin with, and considering that she wore blocker gloves 24/7 people didn’t ask her about it.
Tangle…
Well, it seemed like she was trying very hard to convince herself that she didn’t care about the idea of never finding her soulmate.
“I just don’t get why everyone thinks it’s such a big deal, y’know. Like it’s great if you do find your soulmate, and in a tiny village like mine half the soulmates are paired up before they’re teenagers, but it’s not like you need to do it! My moms aren’t soulmates and they’re doing just fine!”
Tangle’s moms were currently divorced and trying to rekindle their relationship, but Sonic decided not to bring that up.
“And then we have to throw a huge stupid party everytime someone comes back from vacation with their soulmate in tow, and I just. Ugh. We all make such a big deal out of getting to choose how to live our own lives, but we’re all born with this stupid string around our pinkies and told to go off and find the other end. It’s so annoying.”
This probably wasn’t what was actually bothering her, Sonic thought. It was probably the fact that one day her string had stopped moving by itself, only responding to Tangle’s own body, and currently led to a forest in the middle of nowhere with nobody at the other end. It was probably the fact that her soulmate had apparently been the type of person to try on a pair of blocker gloves one day and then never take them off.
Sonic thought about Whisper. About the blocker gloves she never took off, the way she started fiddling with them whenever Tangle was around. The way she looked so anxious whenever Tangle grabbed her by the hand and started running, like she was scared Tangle would pull the glove clean off. The way Tangle and Whisper looked at each other, in general.
Like always, he wondered if he should tell Tangle what he thought.
Like always, he decided against it.
“If you want a huge stupid party, I can always just throw you one, soulmate or no soulmate,” he said instead. “Hell, if you really want, we could pretend that we’re soulmates just to rub it in your town’s face.”
Tangle fake-gagged, and Sonic took fake-offense to that.
“Like you’re one to talk, Mr. Celebrity,” she said, and Sonic drew himself back a little, spines involuntarily bristling. “Whenever people talk about soulmates you just roll your eyes and say some shit about ‘living free’ and ‘going with the flow’. Do you really not want to find your soulmate? It would be easy for you.”
Sonic rolled his eyes, and then instantly realized what he had done when Tangle started laughing at him. He hastily cleared his throat. “Don’t know if there’s anyone who would be able to keep up with me.”
“I know at least three people who can go about as fast as you can,” Tangle said, punching his shoulder lightly. “C’mon, if you really didn’t care that much you wouldn’t wear those stupid blocker gloves all the time.”
Oh, so she had noticed. “Eh, I mostly wear these because I tend to get mobbed by crazy  fangirls if I don’t. If I make it obvious I’m not really available then most people won’t attempt to tell me that they’re totally different from the hundreds of other people who have been convinced we’re meant to be over the years.”
Tangle narrowed her eyes at that. “Crazy fangirls? Like Amy?”
“Crazier.”
“Wow, scary,” Tangle said, and then moved on to talking about how her own friends had set up a Sonic fanclub once, and the conversation moved on from there, and Sonic was glad he didn’t have to talk about it anymore.
-
So yeah, Sonic wore blocker gloves, and yeah, it was so he wouldn’t be harassed about the subject whenever he showed his face in public, or when journalists ambushed him on the streets, or people edited photos of him to make it seem like he had a thin red line coming down from his pinkie and leading to some stranger in the photo. It was convenient. It was easy.
It was even mostly the truth.
Sonic knew a couple other people who wore blocker gloves- Blaze studiously kept hers on to keep up a vaguely professional air, even when her cheeks flamed fire-red every single time Silver so much as existed in her general vicinity, Espio had his on so the string couldn’t get in the way of his “duties as a ninja” (seriously, what the hell did that mean), Vector occasionally wore them on the job and had made half-hearted attempts to get a pair for Charmy, which kept on being mysteriously lost. Rouge and Shadow both wore a pair, presumably because of their super-secret spy jobs that Sonic wasn’t supposed to know about (glowing red strings which could phase through any solid object would probably make hiding difficult, he figured), and Omega had found a way to simply turn his string off, somehow, which was more impressive and terrifying than anything else Sonic had seen him do.
The only person Sonic knew who steadfastly refused to wear blocker gloves was Vanilla, despite the troubles she sometimes saw because of them. She was a single mother whose string had been cut by an untimely death, and she didn’t care who knew it. She lived each day of her life with a bright, happy, genuine smile on her face.
She was, so far, one of the only people who had ever seen Sonic with his gloves off. The only other person besides Tails, actually, who built his gloves in the first place. And the only person who hadn’t said a word to him about the subject, just cleaned the cut he had gotten on his palm and told him to keep himself safe.
He was grateful to her for that.
Rouge was Vanilla’s polar opposite, in regards to the string. She not only hid her string, she made a show of hiding it, commissioning custom blocker gloves and shoving the subject right back in the face of any poor soul who dared to question her about it. She had a million and one excuses for why she didn’t want to find her soulmate, all of them tiptoeing around the truth and never once touching on the actual reason why. She bragged about being able to date anyone she wanted even without showing her string off. She complained about not wanting to be tied down. She whined about how annoying societal expectations were. She crowed about the amount of people who desperately wanted to be her soulmate.
Sonic saw through all of this as the extravagant bullshit that it was, but he really had no idea what the actual reason was. Didn’t really care either. It wasn’t like she brought the subject up an annoying amount either, she was far more likely to yammer on for hours about her one and only actual love (jewels) than she was to start talking about literally any other subject (and if he could put up with the jewel talk, then he could put up with anything).
It was just that sometimes when they hung out, people would get the wrong idea about them. Sonic and one of his friends (a woman at that), both with blocker gloves, spending time together, alone? It was apparently unthinkable to some that they could just be friends. So they both made a big joke out of it, Rouge flaunting how untouchable she was and Sonic pretending to be heartbroken. It made for some hilarious think pieces about how Sonic was a bad role model, at the very least.
Still, he didn’t want to deal with all of that every time they hung out, which was why Rouge had dragged Shadow along with them this time, mentioning that he owed her for something.
So here they were, sequestered away in a tiny café, Rouge and Sonic talking about everything and nothing, while Shadow was also there, sipping delicately at his tea while Sonic chugged his large chocolate milkshake and Rouge got whipped cream from her hot chocolate all over her face.
Good times.
For once, the general populace seemed content to ignore them, at least for now, so the conversation went wherever it wanted to, Sonic and Rouge loud and energetic, Shadow quiet and solemn (despite the fact that there was nothing to be solemn about).
At least, nothing until Rouge spilled hot chocolate all over her glove.
“Ohgoddamnitshit,” Rouge said, all in one breath, dabbing at the stain on her very expensive glove with a napkin, a small frown on her face, before it turned into an outright scowl. “Oh come on-”
She shifted her wrist, and Sonic saw what had bothered her so much. Some of the liquid must have gotten into some of the actual electronics in the glove and messed with it, because Sonic could now see Rouge’s string. Rouge’s cut string.
Rouge groaned, and then shoved her hand under the table, her head in her other hand. “Not. A. Word.”
She said it lightly, like Sonic and Shadow had just seen her do something embarrassing instead of accidentally revealing that her supposed other half was dead and buried, but Sonic could hear the threat in her tone, and he wasn’t going to tell anyone about it anyway. He mimed sealing his lips shut, Shadow just gave her a terse nod, and before either of them could do anything Rouge had thrown some cash onto the table and ran out the front door, presumably to go home, get a new pair of blocker gloves, and hide her face from them for at least a couple months.
Sonic put his chocolate shake down on the table. He had a feeling it wouldn’t taste anywhere near as good as it did a second ago.
“I know Rouge already said as much, but if you tell anyone else about that, you’ll regret it,” Shadow said, the threat in his far less concealed than Rouge’s had been.
“I won’t, jeez,” Sonic said. “I’m not an asshole. And I don’t care about soulmates either.”
Shadow just raised an eyebrow at him, and Sonic glared back half-heartedly. “Those gloves serve a purpose, Sonic.”
“I only wear these because I’m a celebrity for some reason, and people think that makes it okay to pry into every detail of my life.”
“‘For some reason’,” Shadow said, mostly to himself, sounding incredulous. “That can’t seriously be the only reason you wear them.”
Well, it wasn’t, but he wasn’t about to tell Shadow that. Especially when he had no idea what the other hedgehog thought about soulmates beyond just a general unwillingness to speak about the topic. He was born over 50 years ago and raised by a bunch of uptight scientists in literal outer space, so Sonic was curious if he had any different opinions from the general crowd he hung out with.
Shadow didn’t seem willing to share, so Sonic decided to push the issue. Just a bit. “Why do you wear blocker gloves?”
Shadow’s lips curled in a vaguely unpleasant way. “I don’t want to find my soulmate. That’s all.”
Well, that was an unsurprising and boring answer. “Okay, but what would you do if you met your soulmate and fell head-over-heels in love with them? Or if you’ve already met your soulmate, but didn’t know because of the gloves?”
“I wouldn’t fall in love with anyone. And I’m not even slightly concerned about the second possibility. There is nobody in my life who I would want to become my life partner.”
Sonic pouted at him, and something in his chest hurt, just a bit. “Nobody? Not even little old me?”
Shadow’s expression flickered, before it hardened again. “I hope, for your sake, that what you just said was a joke. I’m an immortal being, Sonic. My string will end up cut, at some point or another.”
“Hmm. Good point,” Sonic said. “Well, unless your soulmate is Omega, I guess.”
Shadow choked on his drink, and Sonic couldn’t help but grin like a maniac even as Shadow glared at him (it was less scary than normal, with tea dripping out of his mouth and into his chest fluff. He looked adorable. Sonic tried not to think about the fact that he thought Shadow was adorable).
Sonic decided against talking about it anymore for his own health (Shadow had proved he was more than willing to suplex Sonic through a table if he annoyed him too much), so instead he just waited for Shadow to finish his tea before handing him some gold rings to pay for the half-drunken milkshake. Shadow glared at the rings like they offended him. “They don’t accept those as payment in human establishments.”
“My mistake,” Sonic said cheekily. “Guess I’m dining and dashing. The next date will be my treat.”
And then he dashed before Shadow could actually suplex him through the table.
-
Sonic didn’t leave the city when he left the café, instead opting to nap on the nearest rooftop before night fell. Whenever he visited the big cities he always made sure to stay off the streets themselves. With so many people all locked into one tiny area, the red strings, thin and frail as they were, became far too many, all at once, hundreds and thousands and millions of them all crisscrossing their way across every visible surface, choking his view and making it impossible to run unless he wanted to be half-blind. So he stuck to the rooftops, and waited for night so he could at least get a good view for his trouble.
At night, the streets of every city lit up, suffused with a red glow, invisible during the day but radiant when the sun went down. The strings varied in size, thickness, length, how strong they were, how much they were moving, but every single one of them, collectively, bound people together in the most literal way possible. If you had a soulmate, it was impossible to get rid of your string. It would remain there until the day you died, so most people still said it was better to try and use it, to find happiness with your other half.
Sonic didn’t put much stock in that idea. Or in the idea of other halves existing in the first place. Some of his friends called him an idealist for thinking so, but he had always believed that people were complete by themselves, and that finding someone else made them something more than just themselves.
Shadow would probably call him an idealist for that, too. Even if he had a sneaking suspicion it was something close to what the other hedgehog thought.
Or maybe Shadow would just call him stupid.
High on his chosen perch, Sonic surveyed the glove on his right hand. Tails had made it for him. It was mostly pure white, just like his old gloves, but with a thin ring of silver at the bottom which made its purpose obvious. It looked professionally made. To everyone except him and Tails, it even looked like it worked.
When he removed it, his hands were bare, free from any string. He never had one in the past, and would probably never have one in the future. Sonic had learned a long time ago how people reacted when they realized he didn’t have a soulmate, and decided he hated it even back then. The gloves were a convenience, a way for him to avoid explaining himself, a preventative measure to stop everyone from looking at him like he was broken.
Because Sonic wasn’t broken. He only needed himself, so even if fate said he was doomed to be alone he was perfectly fine with that.
Sonic thought back to Shadow, in the café.
Well, there was a reason he had never put much stock in fate, either.

Starting us off bright and early and wishing everyone a great day! ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🩷
Although we do have the sad banner today lads.
From chapter 4 of I Was Thinking About Your Mouth, coming Sunday:
“I think I’m going to skip dinner tonight. I’m not really hungry.” He sounds nasal and faraway and Carlos is standing here, looking at him seriously, but all he wants to do is hold him tight and let him cry into his chest.
“You always say that and then you end up eating at 2 am.”
TK winces with irritation but still politely responds, “I just feel like being alone tonight if that’s okay.” Doesn’t really have the energy to argue.
“No,” Carlos tells him, “It’s not okay. Get up. I mean it.” Risky, using this tone. Sometimes TK is highly amenable to being bossed around. Sometimes Carlos pitches it all wrong.
But TK does get up – softly sulky as he humors Carlos and heaves himself off the bed. He follows Carlos with obvious reluctance, although Carlos is confident he’d have been coaxed anyway by the scent of heating tomato and mozzarella, like always. He knows details about TK that nobody else could ever know because they’d never care enough, except for Owen and Gwyn as his parents. Now one of the people who knows the most about TK is gone forever, and it occurs to Carlos then about the loneliness of it. Every time someone who loves you falls out of the world, they take a part of you with them. They take the facts and the secrets they’ve been privy to, the little details and quirks that they found relevant and charming for reasons of their own. When Carlos told TK he wants all of his pieces, he meant it more than even he realized at the time. He wants not just the addiction and recovery-related aspects of TK’s experiences and emotions – he wants everything that Gwyn took with her when she went. “Send it all back to me and I’ll do it for you,” Carlos prays to her silently, “Send all your love for TK back to me.”

Sonic movie spoilers:
- I like that they do a different approach on Shadow’s origin by having him not be artificially created. Instead, he has sort of a Superman origin where he was found by the humans from within a space meteorite. Where he comes from is a mystery even to him, so this tell me the movie franchise are open to maybe doing a Black Doom arc one day. And I dig for it 👍
- This also means Gerald is not Shadow’s creator. More so kind of leading the project on analyzing Shadow’s powers and the benefits it can have. Maria didn’t seem to have a terminal illness as far as we know. Just happen to just be hanging out at the lab.
- The way Shadow and Maria start to bond with each. It is SO. DAMN. CUTE. Shadow Ofcourse starts off being cautious and skeptical about Maria coming in to meet him. But Maria’s innocent plays helps him bond with her. I also love that Maria would find every way she can to give Shadow the most typical kind of childhood experiences he can possibly can by having him ditch being tested on and just being. Well. A “kid”.
- before anyone criticizes how Maria’s death, please note that this movie is PG. Maria dying from a gunshot is possibly the closest thing the writers could get to making the backstory as accurate as possible. So really, I don’t really care. The tragedy of Maria, along with Shadow and Gerald’s grief still greatly hits home.
- I like how despite Gerald and Shadow sharing the same goal throughout most of the movie, Shadow is shown to be more sympathetic than the professor. With Shadow, one scene, questioning Gerald with this is what Maria truly wanted. Gerald’s vengeance has fully consumed him to the point where he manipulates the people close to him. And would do anything in his power to make sure the vengeance he has is fulfilled, even if it kills him.
Not gonna lie, the part where Gerald tells Eggman, his grandson, “You are not Maria” is a huge oof in the heart.
- So Eggman just not giving a care in the world after seeing his grandfather instantly disintegrate in front of him makes Gerald’s death much more humorous than expected.
- Man sometimes I both hate and love it when fans are right about something bad happening to someone. Talking about the fact Shadow unintentionally punches Tom to near death.
- And that’s where we get Sonic’s reaction to it by becoming Shadow. Seeing Sonic get so angry to the point where he uses his super form for vengeance is honestly the scariest part of the entire movie. We never see Sonic get consumed by this kind of anger, so it makes the situation between him and shadow all the more serious.
- I had a feeling they were gonna play Live and Learn. I mean, they played it in the trailers. So they had all rights to play it in the movie too. But the movie is good at reminding us that we’re watching the Sonic Movie Universe. Not Sonic Adventure. Have Super Sonic and Shadow being badass while Live and Learn is playing and suddenly cut to Gerald spanking away at Eggman’s butt.
Makes me surprise that didn’t turn up to be one of my weird dream sequences after all. XD
- everyone cheered when Eggman accidentally “pisses” on the moon.
-The ending with Team Sonic having their wholesome moment once the whole ordeal is over will always stick to my mind.
- oh neat! Hi Metal Sonic and Amy Rose. I had a feeling you would show up. Didn’t feel the same hype I did with Shadow, but still pretty hype to see them in the next movie.

https://www.tumblr.com/bebeiaarts/673335597863256064/my-headcanon
Went ahead and read this post. And laughed a little, ngl.
It's basically a defense post for shipping Sonic with human girls, and a hate post towards Sonamy/Sonally shippers. Called 'em all "fanbrats." Immediate generalization, assuming all of us are the same.
I'm a Sonamy shipper, not Sonally. Why I don't ship Sonally? All I've seen of Sally -- while she's generally a good person -- she's very controlling, especially of Sonic himself. She doesn't like Sonic for who he is; she's constantly trying to make him more serious and their personalities clash an awful lot. But does that mean I hate on and judge Sonally shippers? No. It's just a ship with fictional characters, peeps. Lighten up. I don't get triggered if I see others making art for them and stuff. I just move on because it's not for me.
Ah, yeah, Amy's worse qualities HAVEN'T disappeared? Sorry, could someone remind me of a time during the IDW comics, during Frontiers, during MOSTH, when Amy was making Sonic uncomfortable with stalker-esque behavior? Right. There wasn't any. It's a little something called character development and maturity. Happens as one grows older.
And this isn't the first time I've seen people complain that they're turning Amy into Sally 2.0. Actually, they're not. Amy Rose has a heart for people that Sally never did. In IDW, Amy took over the Resistance and changed it into the Restoration because Knuckles disbanded it on a whim, and she couldn't bear to see so many people displaced and in trouble. Because she's got that heart and LOVE for people. That passion.
Amy loves Sonic exactly for who he is. (I've talked a little about this before but will gladly elaborate for those who refuse to see.) She outright said to him, "I can't change you. I don't want to change you."
She loves that he's an adventurer. She loves that he has a heart for people like she does as well. She loves everything about him -- through anything.
Another person claimed they didn't ship Sonamy because "Amy only loves the hero facade Sonic puts on." Sorry, remember that episode in Sonic X where it showed Amy was well aware of Sonic's dislike/fear of water, and instead of getting angry or disappointed with him, she made him a good luck charm bracelet to make him feel better? Or that time when she scolded Knuckles for making fun of said fear? Or when he was badly electrocuted to the point of unconsciousness and she stepped up to take care of him? Or when she dove into a giant mass of water after him, knowing she might not be able to save him but not wanting him to be alone? I could go on and on.
That love of hers, that passion, is also for people in general (he's just #1 in her heart, according to Sega). In Frontiers, she showed concern for him when he appeared to be struggling. She shared her desires to share her love with the world, even if it meant taking them apart, and he encouraged her to do so, adding that he wanted to hear all about it when she got back.
Pardon us for feeling like Sonamy is more canon after Frontiers. I'd like to see YOU come up with a platonic explanation for "Wish we were sharing an umbrella, Amy," and "Amy, I should've made up my mind sooner."
Also, it's pretty unlikely Amy is still 12. They stopped confirming their ages years ago. With how much has been happening, I wouldn't be surprised if they're all aged up several years.
"Thinking we know better than Sega themselves." Bruh, "Sega themselves" have confirmed time and time again that Sonic has feelings for Amy. The only reason (besides the mandates lol) he hasn't confessed to her is because
Sonic isn't good at dealing with feelings
Sonic isn't ready for a relationship at this point in his life/doesn't need one
Sonic loves Amy, and Amy loves Sonic. But they're both aware that Sonic doesn't want a relationship for the time being, so they're fine being friends.
Pardon the rant, lol. And jsyk, this isn't necessarily a persuasive speech. If this convinced you to ship Sonamy, cool! If it didn't, I don't care. Again, these are just ships with fictional characters. I have fun with them. I don't get outraged if people don't ship what I do. If you don't like it, move past this post and keep scrolling. See if I care. 😂

✧ Ruby Chocolate ~ Showing physical affection
Saeyoung lies in bed, staring up at the glow-in-the-dark stars he pasted up on the ceiling a lifetime ago. Beside him, his partner lies sleeping. She fell asleep an hour (maybe more) ago, and he has been listening to her slow, steady breaths for a while now.
He has always had trouble sleeping. His anxiety, left over from years of having to be alert at all hours of the day, keeps him up at night. Even the reassurance that the two people he loves most are safe isn’t always enough to calm him down. Sometimes, his thoughts just keep running. It leaves him restless and antsy, desperate to get up and do something about it.
He sighs and shifts over to lie on his side. If he tried, he could just about make out his girlfriend’s form in the dark. They’re close, but not touching, but even if they were, she’d still be worlds away. It’s a strange thing to think, but he misses her. Nights like this leave him feeling like the only person in the world.
Tonight, he can’t help but watch her, the steady rising and falling of her chest. She only moved in a month ago, so having her here next to him is still a novelty. So many things are still new to them.
˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗
Saeyoung spent the first two weeks of his relationship believing that he might never get to see the future he had been dreaming up. He was wired to believe that every day might be his last, and if this mission to save Saeran was the most important one of his life, then why wouldn’t it be the one to kill him? The life he was hoping for was one he didn’t deserve, after all (though he never said this part out loud).
It’s a strange way to live, when you’re unsure if you’ll still be alive in a week. Stranger still when you’re experiencing real love for the first time. All the hesitation and awkwardness that usually come with new love were pushed aside, because he was certain his days were numbered. Why would he wait to confess to her how deeply he cares for her? Why would they not kiss when they want to? It was now or never.
The physical boundaries between them quickly eroded after they left the apartment together. There was rarely a moment in the next week where they weren’t touching . He rested his hand on her thigh as he drove for hours on end, she would curl up next to him while he was working, they’d pull each other closer as they drifted off to sleep.
It surprised him how quickly he got used to this familiarity. He had spent so much time by himself, isolated from the world, that he had never imagined being able to keep someone so close to him. They felt like extensions of each other, not made to be separated now that they had finally found one another.
It wasn’t just physical closeness, either. They bared their souls to one other and shared their secrets and fears with one another. He was open about his feelings for her, and she seemed to understand him almost better than he understood himself.
She always seemed to be able to read him so easily. It was a surprisingly comfortable feeling, to be known by her.
When he woke up in the hospital after the events that happened at Mint Eye and found her sitting by his bedside, it felt like a divine gift. He had survived this mission and been given the chance to deliver on all the promises he made. He’d actually be allowed to get more than just a few days with the person he loved. If he was lucky, he’d get a lifetime.
If the first days had felt like a whirlwind, the following months were agonizingly slow. He remembers a lot of hospital waiting rooms, frustrating conversations with doctors that never seemed to go anywhere, and painful silences in the bunker as he waited for Saeran to say something, anything.
He knew that his plan to break Saeran out of the hospital would mean a prolonged separation from his girlfriend, but he didn’t realize just how painful the distance would be. He found himself back in his office on most days, reminiscing the days where all he could do was wait for a text from her (and here he was again, still waiting on her texts).
They both knew it was worth it. Saeran’s recovery was their top priority, the first step to building up their family. It didn’t make it any easier, though. For a while, all they could manage was talking over the phone. They’d remind each other that this was the road to a future that they both wanted.  They just had to get through this part.
When he let himself fantasize about a time when they could be together again, he thought back to those early days. Hunger for closeness and the comfort that only physical touch could bring. His arm over her shoulders, her hands in his hair, the softness of her skin. He craved her.
Imagine his surprise when they finally reunited and he found himself tongue tied. He wanted to reach for her, to hug her tight and never let go, but he could barely reach out to hold her hand. The time they spent apart seemed to have manifested in a physical distance between the two of them that neither of them knew exactly how to breach. The familiarity they had built up in their days on the road was something they seemed to have lost.
When they tried to talk to each other, their sentences came out stilted. He could hear the things they were trying to say between the lines, the things they actually meant under all the pleasantries and vague comments, but it was caught in their throats. Their conversations consisted of more words unsaid than anything meaningful.
It was ridiculous to him. They were in love, had already promised each other the world, already gone through all the steps that other couples had gone through, only to land back at square one.
How had he once been able to be so emotionally vulnerable with her? Now he can barely find the words to tell her that her absence has felt like a missing limb. That he still wakes up from nightmares scared that she's hurt.
He started to worry that they were moving backwards instead of forwards. All this time apart wasn’t doing them any good. He decided that, as soon as he got Saeran’s blessing, he would ask her to move in with them. Sharing the same space again, going through the process of healing from the things they had been through together instead of apart would bridge that distance that had built up during their separation, or so he hoped.
The bunker had been empty for so long, that two extra inhabitants made it feel bustling (even when Saeran didn’t leave his room very often). He was still surprised by the sight of her just relaxing in the living room or working on something at her own desk. She was here with him, in this house that has so often felt like an isolation cell. With both her and Saeran living here with him, it had slowly turned into a home without him even realizing it.
Slowly, they started to find their way back to each other. One day, while sitting on the sofa with a book, she found him hovering at the doorway to the living room, unsure whether to enter and interrupt her or just let her enjoy her time. She smiled at him affectionately and beckoned him over to her. He joined her on the sofa (not close enough for them to touch, he thought with frustration), and smiled sheepishly.
“I didn’t mean to interrupt you,” he said, eyes going to the book sitting forgotten on her lap.
“So you decided that hanging out at the door like a creeper was the best option?” She asks teasingly.
He doesn’t have an answer for her. He can feel the heat rising in his cheeks, as it has been doing so often since they reunited. He could have sworn he wasn’t this easily embarrassed around her before (and she’d disagree with him). He laughs bashfully and his hand shoots to the back of his neck. “I… guess?”
She shakes her head in mock disapproval, “I thought you were more discreet than that, agent.”
“So what are you reading?” If he changes the subject, maybe she’ll stop teasing him and he’ll be able to think clearly again.
“It’s an old favourite. Want to hear about it?”
“Of course.”
“Then – “ she clumsily gestures to the empty space next to her. “Come here. You’re too far away.”
He laughs properly this time. There couldn’t’ be a more apt description of their current situation. At her invitation, he shuffles over so he’s resting against her. She runs her fingers through his hair, probably trying to smooth out the stubborn bits that never seem to want to lay flat. It’s a familiar gesture, one that immediately puts him at ease.
Before he can stop it, he says, “I missed you.”
She presses a quick kiss to his hairline. “Me too.”
It got easier from then on. They’d seek each other out in each other’s spaces, and soon they were automatically making room for each other. The conversation flowed more easily, and they started to reach for each other like it was second nature.
He’d find her in the kitchen, and wrap his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. He’d laugh when she shivered at the feeling of his breath against her ear and ask her for a taste of whatever she was making.
She’d join him in his office, first pulling up a spare chair (one that had once been Vanderwoods), then slipping onto his lap at his invitation.
Like blood returning to a limb gone to sleep, they fell back into sync with each other. It felt natural, right.
If he asked her to describe what it was like to live with him after a month, she’d say he was like a clingy cat, which is a metaphor she thinks he’d appreciate if she ever told it to him.
˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗
Eventually, he gives in and gets out of bed. He swears to himself he’ll just tinker for a few hours to settle his mind, maybe play a round of LOLOL with Yoosung if he’s still up, then go back to bed. She won’t even notice. He’ll be back in bed before morning, in time to be with her again by the time she wakes up.
In his office, he pulls out plans he had started working on for upgrades to his front gate. He has a lot more to protect in the bunker now than he ever had, and he has been overflowing with ideas on how to keep the place safe.
He isn’t even aware of how much time passes as he works, alternating between plans and little bits he already has started. In fact, he’s so focused on his work that at first, he doesn’t hear the door to his office opening.
What he does hear is the shuffling of bare feet as she enters the room, dressed in just an old t-shirt of his and a blanket pulled over her shoulders.
“Sunshine! What are you doing awake?”
“You were gone,” she replies. Her eyes are squinting against the light of his screens and her voice sounds groggy. He is hit with an ache in his chest. He woke her up after all.
“I’m sorry,” he says, “come here.”
He holds out his arms to her and she pads across the room to join him. She settles on his lap, straddling him so they sit face to face. His hands automatically go to her waist to hold her steady. She wraps the ends of her blanket over his shoulders so they can share warmth.
“Why are you up?” She asks.
“I couldn’t sleep. I thought I’d work until my mind shut off; you know?” He phrases it like a joke, but she knows there is truth under it. She knows it better than anyone. On nights where he does manage to quickly fall asleep, she tells him that he mutters incoherent sentences under his breath and can't lie still.
“Hmm,” she stifles a yawn, “what are you working on?”
“Security stuff, mostly,” he wants to explain it further, but with her so close, he finds his mind wandering from his work. He thinks instead about the warmth of her body so close to his, the way her fingers are absentmindedly tracing little shapes across his upper back over where she’s holding the blanket. How a few weeks ago it was difficult to hold each other’s hands and now they can be this close again. How he wants to be closer.
She must notice something shift in his expression (she always does) because instead of pushing for him to explain further as she usually would, she dips her head down to press a kiss to the base of his neck. He shivers, despite the warmth.
He can’t for the life of him imagine why he ever got out of bed. She continues to press soft kisses to his neck, and his hands move from her waist to her bare thighs.
Breath warm against his skin, she says, “maybe you can continue that tomorrow, what do you think? You can explain everything to me when I’m awake enough to understand it.”
He hums shortly, not trusting his voice with much else. All he knows is that he doesn’t want her to go back to bed without him. He moves to stand up from his chair, and her legs wrap around his torso.
Together, they return to bed.

Honestly, my passion for Carmen Sandiego and Red Crackle has never ceased, but I was too busy with various little things that I didn't have time to share. But I finally have time, I read a BEAUTIFUL Red Crackle fanfic, so I have a lot of inspiration to share little ideas and crossovers.
1.- I have had this headcanon/crossover since the beginning of this year and I love it! And it may sound very strange but I don't care, here I go: I started watching Bluey at the beginning of this year, I love the Heeler family and since I found out that they're australians I couldn't help but think that Chilli and Bandit would adopt Gray. Gray would love his sisters Bluey and Bingo.
2.- This is perhaps more of a... VERY vague idea but, I find it curious that Gray is an orphan while Chilli suffered a miscarriage, thus losing her first child (it's confirmed by the creator) That has sometimes led to thinking that Gray is the long lost son of Chilli and Bandit. I know, that sounds crazy, but I find Bandit and Chilli's personalities to be similar to some that Gray has.
3.- This is more of a fanfic idea I had two years ago that I didn't get a chance to write, but I want to give some context on the idea at least:
I had the plan of a fanfic where the worlds of Carmen Sandiego and Blookyn Nine Nine were united. Where Amy Santiago was actually not the only woman in her family or the least of they. The Santiagos had a girl named Carmen Santiago, but she was the most rebellious of all. Unlike her parents and family, Carmen had her own convictions and she didn't like that pleasure of having to compete to be the best brother (she knew she was the best), much less being SO organized or SO disciplined as her sister, Amy. She even learned to steal on her own, which made her parents feel ashamed and her male brothers angry because Carm always hid his belongings from them (except Amy. She liked to tease Amy by calling her "nerd" but deep down she loved her a lot) The only thing in common that Carmen and her family had, was wanting to be a police officer, but again, under their own rules. In summary: The Santiagos had enough of Carmen when she turned 18 and they wanted to put limits on her, to the point of threatening to take her last name and basically kick her out of the house. Carmen took it seriously and she did it all by herself. She left the papers at the house and said please NEVER say that she was a Santiago again, she wasn't going to tell them where she was going to live or the new name she had given herself. The only one who was hurt by her departure was Amy, because although she cared too much about her and her black sheep attitude (nickname that she earned from her entire family) she admired her a lot and she felt attached to her. A year later, Amy received a letter from someone named "Carmen Sandiego" to find out that she was her younger sister. Carmen only sends her letters very occasionally, but still, she's appreciated by Amy and knows that her younger sister can take care of herself. Although sometimes, she has rarely been caught by the police for robbery, which worries Amy and when she goes to see her, she's greeted with the notification that Carmen managed to escape from the police station. Out of respect for her sister, Amy has never mentioned her existence, taking the role of being "the only daughter of the Santiagos, and the youngest".
On the other hand, Jake Peralta discovers that he has a younger half-brother, in Australia! Yes, although his father had mentioned to him that he had half-brothers and half-sisters scattered across the United States (and now apparently in other parts of the world) at the last minute, his father informs Jake that he must pick up his younger brother from the airport, since his mother has died and no one in the mother's family accepts him as part of the family. Jake is very excited about this, because for the first time he would meet a brother and he wanted to be a big brother figure for him (and yes... Jake practiced his lousy Aussie accent) Jake only knew his name was Graham, but on the sign it just said "My Aussie younger half-brother" (he didn't put his name because it didn't fit on the sign) While waiting, he noticed something like the good detective he is: a young man was helping a person with his luggage, but with great agility he had stolen the man's wallet. Jake approaches him saying in a low voice "please return the wallet, or no nachos and beer for dinner today, mate" Yes, Jake noticed by the way he spoke that he was Australian, and by certain features that he was from the Peraltas according to In Jake's eyes, Jake was worried that they could be very polar opposites simply because he's a detective and his Aussie brother a thief.
Obviously, there would be Red Crackle, the Red team, the 99 team, VILE, ACME, action and comedy, but I never had the time to write it and since English isn't my forte, the truth only stays in my head many scenes and beautiful moments.
And that's it! Sorry for my long post and if you read it all, I really appreciate it! There is a Red Crackle fic narrated by Gray that if I wanted to do, it would be a one-shot with an optional crossover epilogue, but I hope I can finish it hehehe.

Would you say that Silver is empathetic?
Hmm, I find that an intriguing question. Let's see... One definition of empathetic is "having the ability to imagine how someone else feels". Empathy meanwhile means "the ability to share someone else's feelings or experiences by imagining what it would be like to be in that person's situation". Thus, it means that you experience the same as another person going through an emotion in a situation: if they are happy, you are; if they are sad, you are. This is how empathy differs from sympathy, which is that you feel understanding and care for someone when they are suffering. They are thus slightly different: the best sentence I found that describes it is "sympathy is feeling for someone, while empathy is feeling with someone".
So, for Silver to be empathetic, it would mean that he can both imagine how someone else feels and can feel the same, apparently based on his own personal experiences. And thus, I find this question hard to answer, because I find it difficult to objectively prove when a character is feeling an emotion that another is also feeling in a game. But that being said, we do see Silver express sorrow a few times when bad things happen to those around him. The main scene I have in my head is '06, where the Duke has just died and the Flames of Disaster are sealed in child!Elise. It is a bit hard to tell with the awkward yoinky movements, but Silver seems quite distraught:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notably, in the first picture he's not blinking: his eyes stay closed for far longer than just a blink (about 2 seconds, I would say). In grief, perhaps? Elise just took on a huge plight while having no say in it at all and the Duke died, and Silver is notably not immediately running off to take the princess to a safe place like her father asked; instead he seems remarkably stricken by it all, like he needs some time to process it.
In the cutscene after, where Shadow and Silver meet up again, Silver's response to Shadow's question if he "did it" (seal Iblis), Silver's answer is a "...Yes. The 'Flames' are properly sealed". There's a bit of pause before he answers, and he's also not looking at Shadow while he says it. And when Shadow tells him it is time to return, Silver responds with another hesitant "Yes... Of course...", that his voice actor makes sound almost unwilling. He has also not moved from Elise's side the whole time since putting her down against the tree. And in his own story after Shadow has left, he very tenderly gives her his Chaos Emerald with the urging that it is a lucky charm, when he hears her call out for her father. I think all that combined can be seen as an indication that he feels very bad for her. And lastly, when Elise dies, he also seems to hold himself back in sadness for a bit, with his head drooping and his hands balling into fists:
Tumblr media
What is also interesting is his argument with Amy in '06, wherein she chastises him for wanting to kill Sonic. He's clearly thrown off by it and is left saddened as she leaves him:
Tumblr media
And more importantly, the reason Silver came to the past, namely to stop the Iblis Trigger and his actions, gets put a temporary stop to. In the cutscene after, Silver specifically wonders if it is right to kill someone to save the world: in other words, is it alright to hurt one person to help many? The fact that he can muse it over and the fact he is thinking in terms of 'hurting' and 'helping' others might relate to sympathy and empathy. He's clearly seen that there is someone out there who loves an alleged to-be-world-destroyer and who would follow that person to the end of the world. I would say the fact the Iblis Trigger is cherished by someone is making Silver hesitant about killing him, because there are others (alongside Sonic himself) that will be hurt by Sonic's death. That does feel like empathy to me.
But with those examples from '06 out of the way... I cannot think so much of other games wherein Silver expresses either sympathy or empathy for other people. Definitely not in the Rivals games, Colours DS, or Generations, because there's just nothing dramatic and saddening like deaths and stuff happening in those games. Maybe in Forces? When the Resistance is infiltrating the Death Egg, Silver heatedly says "That's one more thing Eggman will answer for!" when Vector and Espio imply that Eggman apparently murdered/otherwise rid himself of his prisoners there. However on the other hand, Silver kind of doesn't really express either sympathy or empathy when Amy is sad about Sonic having "died" in Forces: he focuses more on (bluntly) underlining the facts of the situation they are in, namely that Sonic is "dead" and Tails has "just lost it". But then again, in the Japanese version he's a bit more kind about it, saying he "wishes he could believe that, but the reality is..." instead. Although, that could be more his direct and self-proclaimed realistic nature and the fact Sonic has been "dead" for six months already, maybe?
So... yeah. I think overall, Silver is susceptible to feeling sadness when bad things are happening around him, especially in the heat of the moment. He can also think about what consequences his actions have on others, especially related to causing them hurt. And he can express anger at the mistreatment others have faced. But perhaps the best way I can put it is simply that Silver isn't involved in so many stories that have things happening where you would expect empathy, so to say. The main game that I would say had a dramatic story with many saddening plot points was '06, where we see him be rather distraught at Elise's and the Duke's fates. That aside, there aren't many games that come after that have him in it and that focus on plots like that. So my answer overall is that Silver can indeed feel saddened or angry concerning others' situations, but it is not often shown because the plots do not dive into such situations much. And whether he feels sympathy or empathy, I am not too sure: at the top of my head, I cannot think of an example wherein Silver expresses the same emotions as another because he is putting himself in their shoes.

Ngl sometimes i feel like ppl are harsher on amy cause shes a girly character.
I've seen my fair share and more of bigotry aimed Amy's direction from straight up misogyny to more nuanced pigeonholing and appeals to power. That last bit in particular is interesting when you see people compare Amy to the likes of Sally, Blaze, and Rouge, with her lack of authoritative power or an "important" job being used to belittle her. Even more so how some people insisted that she was underserving when she did land such a position, so it could be her "girlishness" that people take offence to. That would not surprise me either considering there are people who have said that her "girlishness" and being open about her desire to have a relationship with a boy whom she structures her life around makes her a bad role model.
My thoughts on Amy representing the joy of just being yourself and never giving up on your dreams aside, looking at Sonic for role models is itself not a great idea since one of the values of the main character is to never compromise, a mentality in the real world that leads to war, murder, crime, abuse, and lots of other horrible things. So yeah, in that way Amy is a bad role model, but she's a fictional character, her job is to entertain you, not teach you how to live your life. So if her silly "girlishness" isn't someone's thing, it's better just to say it than try to justify it with misogyny and bigotry thinly veiled as watching out for all the girls out there who could be encouraged to enjoy traditionally girly things and like boys who inspire, motivate, and fill their lives with joy and happiness.
Don't get me wrong, it's easy to warp Amy's character into a symbol of pro abusive patriarchy as her character is kind of two-sided that way. I mean, if we look at what Amy wants, to be a part of Sonic's life and adventures, just to see him being him, Sonic doesn't even have to reciprocate her feelings. This traditional patriarchal idea feminine values revolving around a boy is very toxic and implies just a man's presence is enough to fulfill all of the life goals of a woman. That isn't good at all. It is however, a less than surface level look at the relationship the two have.
A lot of people like to cite that Sonic loves to run and Amy chasing him gives him reason to run. Even Hoshino-san (the man who led her creation) has alluded to that aspect of their relationship, so it's natural to see it as an important part. However, that is still looking at only the Amy working part of the relationship, and she works at it a lot, which is both for and against the toxic patriarchal view of her role and femininity. Consider, in a true patriarchy men are entitled to any woman they want and competition is limited to looks and looks alone. The work Amy puts in to have her dream fulfilled isn't necessary. Only her looks, which ironically Amy's focus on her looks is usually joked about at being at the expense of her health. She can take care of everyone else, but when it comes to selfcare she's literally only skin deep. Another fine example of Amy having aspects that work in a toxic patriarchy, especially if we consider that Amy's looks became more important to her chronologically when we transition from the classics when she wore whatever and was just another hedgehog to dressing herself up in a highly revealing outfit, that happens to be Sonic's favorite color (it's red, not blue like most people think. Just look at his shoes, plane, and even cars that he was affiliated with back in the classics) with her spines(/quills) distinctly styled. It's obvious that she wants to look good for him, which is indeed toxic patriarchy at it's finest in the handling of a female character. However, it is also a sign of love, to give unconditionally to the one that you love. But this then means that we have to look beyond just the patriarchal relationship where men are entitled to any woman of their choosing and actually need to look at what Sonic gives Amy.
Understanding what Sonic gives first requires stepping back and getting a bit meta, remembering that Amy was made specifically to be a girl in the franchise, Sonic's girlfriend (in a nontraditional relationship), and to have a personality that allowed her to perpetually chase after a guy who only looks forward to his next adventure or challenge. A lot of people call the happy-go-lucky girl who that birthed annoying and delusional, but it also shows a lack of knowing Sonic himself, something that the Sonic Origins and Sonic Prime versions of Sonic and tails' first meeting distorts. That will be relevant a bit later though.
While Amy's genki girl, rosy, and bubbly personality is what most people lock onto, usually insisting on a change in it, citing misogyny as a reason to practice misogyny against the type of girl that Amy is, the most important aspect of Amy's personality, designed to fit Sonic and his lifestyle is frequently overlooked. Even before meeting Sonic, if we go by the original continuity of the games, Amy's Rosy the Rascal moniker told us that she was the type of cheerful and optimistic girl who routinely got into and caused trouble for her own amusement. The getting into trouble part is the really important bit as Amy herself words it best in Sonic Adventure when yearning for the days of excitement she had as part of Sonic's adventures. She yearns for adventure, and expresses a love of it. And she isn't unexperienced either, as again, in the original continuity she travels to Never Lake on the order of the cards. The thing about Never Lake however, is it is a barren wasteland when Little Planet isn't present. This means that she went out there herself under her own power. She could not have done that without being at least somewhat experienced as an adventurer herself, and that's not even counting that she managed to get herself up onto Little Planet at all. But it shouldn't be a surprise since one of her hobbies is dowsing, a method for finding water, or treasures. This implies that she again enjoys being out either hunting treasure, or just needing to find water, a skill necessary when out in the wilderness, something an adventurer would be. Sonic being a world famous globetrotting adventurer in the original continuity also shows why she would have heard about him and wondered if her destined encounter would be with him. She's a hedgehog adventurer herself and he is the pinnacle of that, the pinnacle she wants to respect her as an equal. Amy being an adventurer is a huge, yet overlooked and underappreciated part of her character.
Now though, with Amy's character better examined, and why Sonic, his way of life, and even his trouble finding personality all can appeal to our rosy rascal, it is time to address his reciprocation to show that there is more to their relationship than a entitled toxic patriarchy. To that end, we have to again look at Tails and how he met Sonic. Origins and prime muddy things by going against the original continuity and actively having Sonic rescue Tails from his bullies. That never originally happened as it undermines Tails' character message of learning to stand up for yourself. What happened in the original continuity is that Tails seeing Sonic in person for the first time (again, he knew about him because he was a world famous, globetrotting adventurer from before even the first game) was a moment of tremendous inspiration for Tails. Actually seeing him made Tails want to stand up for himself and be cool like Sonic. To that end, Tails started following Sonic around while Sonic was on his runs on Westside Island. And this went on for days with Sonic actively being annoyed by it, only his live and live attitude allowing Sonic to say to himself to let Tails do as he pleased. And it's not like Sonic didn't try to lose him either. He did as I recall, but Tails could still keep up because of his namesake. And while I could go on here, the important for Sonic and Amy's relationship has been revealed. To help clarify the above, I'm actually going to refer to a moment from the Archie comics. A lot of game Sonic fans will consider this wrong, but for all of the bluster against interpretations of Sonic outside of SEGA of Japan, there are several things that became part of Sonic's character, chilidogs most notably. However, this fact allows for an example to be drawn to show Sonic's reciprocation of Amy's feelings and how that manifests. The moment in this case is a Sonally moment loathed by SonAmy fans and fans of Sonic's character alike. The moment when Sonic tells Sally that he can slow down for her. Loathed as the moment is, it actually captured an aspect of how Sonic handles romantic relationships.
While slowing down doesn't work for Sonic realistically in a relationship with Sally, since she outright requires Sonic to stop (exemplified, distorted as it may be, by the infamous slap), Amy is willing, desires, and has the freedom to put in the work to catch up with Sonic. Thus, when not overwhelmed by Amy's energy and overflowing emotions, Sonic will slow down for her, allowing her to chase after him into the adventures that she loves so much. A fine example of this is in Team Sonic and Team Rose's ending in Sonic Heroes where he could have easily outpaced her. When comparing how he treated Tails, who he still subconsciously expects to just keep up in casual situations, slowing down at all instead of trying to leave her in the dust speaks volumes. Addressing why this is all Sonic does to reciprocate Amy's feelings requires examining some of the bigotry inherent in the attack on Amy's girlishness as a reason to hate her and hold her to impossibly high standards.
To start, it has been stated by Sonic and Amy co-creator, Ohshima Naoto-san, that Sonic has the eternal heart of a boy (he really feels like Peter pan sometimes), but if he matured that he would choose Amy. So, this again puts us in toxic patriarchy relationships between a boy and a girl again, but as I said, there is bigotry at hand beyond just misogyny. Arophobia is easily the most blatant, though aphobia in general manifests when addressing Sonic's lack of romantic gestures, something Amy herself has indirectly said she doesn't need regardless of her cravings for it.
If you look at the larger LGBTQ+ spectrum, you will discover that aromantic and asexual people are part of the community. Or people who feel little to no romantic or sexual desire. To a lot of aspect people Sonic is extremely relatable as he just typically doesn't respond to it. For most people this says that Sonic doesn't like Amy, despite their co-creator saying he does. This would imply then that their is more going on, intentional or not, than just a boyish heart that is too immature for responding to the open heart of another. Such a heart however typically comes with expressions of disgust towards girls and a direct rejection of feelings that the boy doesn't understand. Sonic is presented very differently from that, usually just keeping his distance or fleeing when overwhelmed (this can also lead into discourse on how Sonic is actually very introverted but has a really good public façade and script). But as you follow the history between Sonic and Amy, you'll actually see him soften from being annoyed at her public displays of affection (something shown even in early concept art with his concept girlfriend Madonna, who Amy inherited the personality of), to being willing to walk side by side with her, letting her stand close, lying down next to each other and more recently actually returning her hug. This slow development shows what is potentially a demiromantic response (can still be aromatic, but my research isn't complete enough to make that determination), bringing forward the idea that Sonic simply needed time to form a bond close enough with Amy that would allow him to experience romantic feelings towards her. This is very different from the toxic patriarchy idea that Amy does all of the relationship work, as from am aromantic or demiromantic perspective, he very well can't put in the work Amy does as he isn't wired in a way to be able to, which aligns with the idea that it doesn't match Sonic's character as stated by Hoshino Kazayuki-san when describing why he gave Amy the personality that she has. It also means that anyone citing toxic patriarchy against the SonAmy dynamic are potentially themselves practicing bigotry, intentionally or not, against aromantic and demiromantic persons.
In conclusion, yeah, Amy's girlishness is definitely used as a point against her. But using it as a point against her is usually a sign of ignorance; either of the characters, their relationships, or the words and intentions of heir creators; failure to realize that Sonic is not a good role model himself, despite his heroic readings, meaning just by liking him and wanting to be part of his life neither is Amy, despite her representation of the joy of just being yourself and never giving up on your dreams; or bigotry through pigeonholing women into "acceptable" personalities and roles, and refusing to acknowledge that aspec and demispec persons exist. It's a very shallow reading of Amy's character and the complexity and nuance in her relationship with Sonic. And as thought exists on the conscious and subconscious levels, this isn't a matter of thinking deeper than the creators did (a strange claim to make without proof), as nothing exists in a vacuum and we all have far more subconscious thought then we ever give credit to. Trying to attack Amy's girlishness at best is just a sign of ignorance and/or malice, and I find that these days it's just so much easier and better for me to ignore that.
Sorry that ended up so long and meandering anon. It's a topic I can get very into, and I completely left out a lot of how I think Amy's girlishness helps out her and the IP on a whole due to the difference in perspective and approach that it brings.
Thanks for the ask!

Since Sonic Frontiers' character arcs focus on change, it made me realize that Sonic's still the same for the most part. (And Eggman by extension)
Of course they both have a better understanding of the people they surround themselves with, but they're still sticking to the routine they've always had. Eggman's still trying to take over the world. Sonic's always there to stop him. It's just now, Eggman has a new ally, and Sonic's friends are finding their own paths. I'm gonna talk about how (almost) everyone's changing and how I think they'll go about it! Honestly spoilers maybe for the end of Frontiers.
Amy wants to travel the world to share her love with everyone. (? I didn't fully understand what she wants to do. If someone could elaborate on this it'd help a lot)
Knuckles wants a break from protecting the Master Emerald.
And Tails wants to finally step out of Sonic's shadow.
Since I don't understand Amy's development I won't talk about her...
For Knuckles, this might be a pretty obscure idea but. I think breaking the Master Emerald again is the best way to get that long-deserved break. He could entrust these shards with his friends, and a few for himself. Not going to say who would be trusted with this specifically cuz that's the fun part.
It would minimize how much he actually has to watch over while still (sort of) keeping him on the job. He's just found a smart way to go about it, is all. Since I imagine that in shard form, they basically serve no purpose. A world-wide scavenger hunt that would be too tedious.
Now I know that Angel Island would basically plummet back into the ocean without the Master Emerald, so it'd take a SERIOUS amount of planning. Tails could definitely help out with this to make sure it all goes without a hitch. If Knuckles is worried about where they are, just a visit to his friends could remove those concerns. I think it'd strengthen the bond of whoever he trusts since he doesn't audibly say how much he cares about those that are close to him. Anyways, I have no clue what Knuckles would actually do now that he has a bit more free will. Other than see the world of course.
For Tails, once Angel Island is back on the sea, I think he'll try to invent things for the public, seeing as how their technology is extremely limited after the events of Frontiers & Forces. Maybe try to replicate something similar to what the ancients had going on, but with a far more practical purpose. Making easier ways for everyone to get around and protect themselves. Would definitely be a big hand in larger projects and a guest speaker at like engineering classes. He'd be a hero in his own way. I don't know how long he'd be doing this, since he said he wants to be unrecognizable when he and Sonic meet again.
Considering he's like. A tween? (11?? 12??) It could be a couple of years. I REALLY doubt we'll actually see this in canon but. Tails is more than likely to be 15 or older when they meet again.
Tails and Eggman might end up being rivals in whose inventions are used in more practical situations, but Tails is far more public about what's in his creations unlike Eggman. It's just the fact that people don't understand Tails' mind.
For Sonic, I actually don't know what his next steps would be outside of the endless loop that is stopping Eggmans plans. Not having his friends around as much (close to never) anymore would definitely be a solitude that hurts. But he wants to respect the choices they've made, so almost all of the encounters/run-ins he might get with them are up to chance. Maybe he'll see Tails on TV on a brief run, being interviewed on his inventions. He wouldn't want to look or listen too hard, or the surprise would be ruined. Maybe Knuckles got lost, and when Sonic tries to help out, now they're both lost because of how much the cities have changed. Would add something for Amy, but again, I don't fully understand her arc!
Being alone without his friends would definitely remind him of his childhood. He'd start reminiscing, making him awfully bittersweet about it all. It's selfish to think this way, he knows this. But when was the last time he'd been alone for so long? After all of that talk about how he'd handle himself just fine, the silence has never been louder. He'd definitely struggle to interact with people after a certain point, especially his friends. All of the change is draining, with Eggman and possibly some other things/people being his only remaining constants that he's unintentionally clinging onto.
Anyways again, if anyone understood Amy's arc PLEASE tell me. I genuinely want to understand her development in Frontiers so bad.

index to story time part 2:
¹ 19.4.24 (journal entry)
i’ve been reading gone girl and have found myself very driven to amu. she is me. but if she is, who is my dear nick? anam of course. recently i’ve realised that we are nick and amy. and it has made me very sad. every time i read the book i can’t help but think “anam would relate to this” “this is how i feel about anam”. i mean, is that why i have this strong detest for nick? he’s already made extremely unlikeable, but there’s something about him being so aloof and unself aware that just painfully reminds me of her. it makes me hate her. everything she’s taken from me. i put on a show for her. i was her “cool girl”. i liked everything she likes. i put up with her behaviour until i cracked. i became the demanding and nagging housewife. then she found herself a new, fun, hot, younger version of me. she admitted to me in what she thought was a heart felt paragraph that i was her manic pixie dream girl. i made her fall into the road of self discovery. i made you “question your mentality”. i “helped” you. she kept reinforcing this idea that i am what eliza is not, that i don’t come with “pressures” or “expectations”. i am not “toxic”. she is thrilled that i “never gave up on her even when she did things to aggravate me”. you know what nick and any deeply have in common, they pretend as if they don’t understand, as if not aware, but in reality they do, they just don’t care enough to change. i am pretending to be the perfect girl for her, i fill all the emotional and psychological needs she lacks, but it is not enough. how dare you make me feel as though i’m not enough for you? she even had the mind to call herself “the other woman”. i cried when she told me that. not because i felt sorry for her, but intense rage
² To my dearest Anam,
There are 44 days until the end of your exams. That’s 1047 hours. Within those 1047 hours, I would only be able to speak to you for 6 of them. 6 hours Anam? That’s not even enough hours for someone to sleep. The rest of those 1041 hours I’d spend thinking of you. Dreaming of you. I mean I’ve already spent the last 45 hours with you on my mind non stop. I can’t stop thinking about you. I never have. I always think of you. Waiting till the clock strikes 12 on Sundays. Counting down the hours and minutes until I can talk to you again. But I cannot bear it anymore
I physically cannot function without you. I don’t know how to live. And you may think that just because I don’t text you it means I don’t miss you. But you couldn’t be more fooled. Since I no longer have you, I find ways to reach you. I stalk your airbuds and laugh every time I see you’ve listened to Lana del Rey. I check your location even if I know you’re in a lesson. I even love to see when you’re revising because at least I know you’re alive. I’ve thought about you more in these last 45 hours than I have thought about my A Levels which are in 9 days. I couldn’t even revise today because I just couldn’t get you off my mind
I can’t imagine waiting till 6pm at the end of the week for you to maybe not be available. I text you at 6, then it’s 6.05, 6.20, 6.47, 6.59 and before I know it our time is up and we must pretend to be strangers again. I cannot do it. I won’t. I hate having to walk past you like I don’t know you. I can’t even do that. If I see you I try to walk the other way because I just cannot imagine having to pretend not to know you. Yes we are still friends but we cannot share what makes us bond and what makes us closer. We have been watered down to acquaintances. To stare aimlessly and to be shut off from the world for 167 hours of the week. Just for my world to re open at 6pm on a Sunday. It is a crime of murder. You murdered me. You took my life away from me just to hand it to me in crumbs and suggest that I should be okay
I can never be okay
Let me end my weekends hearing the sweet sound of your voice. Let me hear you laugh. Let me hear you speak. Let me hear how your week has been. Let your voice bury itself into my brain and let it rise in my sleep. Let me dream of the same you I once had my eyes open to see. Take a dip into my dreams once we have said goodnight to each other. Let us say goodnight. Let me wish you sweet dreams. Sweet dreams of me. Let me tell you how much I love you. How empty I feel without you in my arms. And how much I crave you. I don’t want to start my evenings ending my conversations with you. I want our conversations to run far. Far away. So far that we don’t bother to find them. Let them loose. Forget it all. Does it even matter?
Anam you are under the false awareness that you think that I don’t want to text you. Whilst I physically restrain myself from my phone. I don’t text anybody. Because I’m scared that I’ll see your message. And I’ll miss you too hard that I’ll find myself running back to you. For you to dismiss me again. It’s for the better, you say. And I know it true in my heart. But it all seems pointless when I don’t have you. I’ve re read everything countlessly. And I’ll read and read and read until I can recite fluently. I bite my tongue at texting you. I hold back. When all I want to do is drown you in my words of yearning. I’ll suffocate you. I’ll smother you. But you’ll die to hear it. You’d die to hear my words because you know the cycle will repeat. And you cannot stand it too. But if you wish Anam, I’ll text you before the sun rises and after the sun sets. I’ll text you in lesson even though I can see you. I’ll text you every time I miss you but you are forbidden to be surprised when I never stop. I’ll tell you all about my day and we will run out of things to talk about by Sunday. but I don’t mind
My darling. My baby. My prettiest princess. I love you more than Lady Persephone loved Hades. That she waits till spring to be blessed on the over world. I’ll wait for you too. I’ll wait for you forever. But you have to be fair. You cannot leave me bare handed. Give me the substance I so rightly deserve. Give me just the evening. A couple hours of your time. And I promise you I won’t disappoint
Yours sincerely

What happens when Sonic falls back to Earth? How does everyone react to it? Did Sonic age 10 years or is he now 10 years younger than everyone?
(That would be weird for Tails! Your big brother comes home after 10 years and he's now the younger brother, and a lot shorter lol)
Sonic is 10 years younger than everyone else now! He’s almost a foot shorter than Tails and Cream and is obviously a little out of place. His care free attitude is a welcome change of pace for some and seen as a little ignorant by others.
Reactions were mixed!
Tails was so thrilled to have his brother back but as an adult and the co-leader of the organisation he feels like he doesn’t have enough time to truly let it sink in that he’s back. I think he feels guilty for being a little resentful of Sonic for leaving him alone all those years; he knows he didn’t mean to but still, his actions endangered people whether he meant for them to or not. I think Sonic feels a little uneasy about the fact that Tails is a different person now, his morals and spirit haven’t changed but ten years is a lot of time to miss. He still loves his brother of course but having their dynamic flipped on it’s head is a lot to take in.
Amy doesn’t blame him at all for what happened, she knows he was doing his best to save the world and that he had no way of knowing what would happen. She’s a lot calmer now, she still admires him as a hero but also sort of sees him as a kid? She spends a lot of time getting him to open up about how he’s feeling about the strange new world he finds himself in and is the one that really helps him find his place in the group. She is the other co-leader so he spends a lot of time with her at first getting to know what’s what.
Knuckles won’t even speak to him, he talks about him as if he is a reckless child that endangered them all. He doesn’t care about Sonic’s intentions, only that he lost the chaos emeralds in outer space and has destroyed their way of living. He’s calmed down a lot in the past decade but hearing about Sonic’s return reignited old flames. He spends his time on Angel Island alone, guarding the Master Emerald as it’s the only thing keeping balance.
Shadow resents him and shares a lot of the same sentiments as Knuckles, but keeps them as close to his chest as he’s able to as to not disturb peace in the group. Shadow refrained from attacking him on sight only at Tails’ request. He speaks to him minimally, usually avoiding him by getting on with his jobs and declining his help despite knowing it would make things easier. Ultimately, he resents having to take on Sonic’s role as the protector of a large group of people, he doesn’t want to be the hero in charge of saving the world and is very tired. He also resents Sonic because he watched Tails mourn him and helped him through it.
Rogue keeps her feelings close, she’s glad to have the extra hands around - especially someone that isn’t so drained or nihilistic. She wasn’t close to Sonic before he went missing but was saddened mostly by Tails and Amy’s responses to it. She’s seen the strain that having to do his job has taken on Shadow and is the one that forces Shadow to pass on some of his responsibilities to Sonic. She somewhat selfishly sees Sonic as a means of helping Shadow heal.
Cream is as sweet as ever, a polite young woman who treats him respectfully. Her opinion was definitely influenced by Amy and she’s thankful that he’s home safe. It’s very strange for them that they’re the same age now but they get along well. Spending time with Cream is when Sonic feels things are the most ‘normal’.
Sonic doesn’t really know what to feel, he feels guilty for being the cause of everything but also knows he didn’t have much of a choice. He immediately wants to help but struggles to find a place in the group when it moved on without him. He’s glad they all stayed together but can’t help but feel a little replaced, especially by the fact that Tails and Shadow are so close. Sonic feels a little like he’s intruding, but is trying his hardest to do whatever he can to fix things. Ultimately, he’s just relieved that his friends are alive and safe even if some of them might not be his friends anymore.

tenamy anon ☝️ i was wondering if in your vision for them amy was here when he regenerates into eleven or the angel thing happened before that. if its the latter then i think the doctor's "seeing" her for the last time while dying would go even crazier, imagine like she's touching his face while he still says he doesnt wanna go
OMG TENAMY ANON I MISSED YOU, MWAH MWAH! I hope you don't mind me rambling.
I always imagined Amy would leave before Ten regenerated. Punch him while he's down and convulsing on the floor, you know? He would experience the loss of another companion being ripped away from him. I think it would invoke some Doomsday flashbacks, where he is helpless as he can never see his beloved companion again. This time however, you get the comfort and the curse of the build up. Unlike Doomsday, it is Amy's choice, and more hauntingly he has to stand there and allow it.
YOUR VISION! HEARTBREAKING! I share it too, I'm not sure what would happen for him to regenerate, but to come into his TARDIS (like TEOT) scared of dying to see Amy, and while he's glowing golden, her hand is on his face soothing him. I think he'd actually start crying rather than just teary eyes, not only because he would die with someone (I think he this he deserves after all he's done), but he'd be aware she isn't real. When the Doctor regenerates he tells people to stand back because it would hurt them, but he would allow her ghost to touch him as he dies. Maybe he'd even reach his flaming hand out to her face like Eleven did, for extra heartbreak factor. He'd be scared he might hurt her but does it anyway, which I think would capture their whole hypothetical dynamic (never listen to About You by The 1975 while imagining this, I'm tearing up at this shit).
I think it would also be tragic on his end, to have to live without her. I feel like if Ten specially was Amy's Doctor, I'm not sure how he'd react to that. Defiantly not well. We have seen Ten lose companions, and when he can't fix it he typically goes full on god-complex. Not sure how you see their timeline tenamy anon, but I see him going through his post-TLV arc with her. Because fuck it, I love TLV, I think Ten is at his most interesting when he is being an arse. Would Amy make him better or worse? There's a case for both.
Going back to the other vision you said about Amy seeing him regenerate into Eleven, I think that would basically be a sort of tenrose but worse (in a good way). Eleven's companion is Amy Pond and that is a fact, so in this hypothetical tenamy au, he would either be born out of a sense of devotion to her or be born out of mourning for her. I find the mourning more interesting, though. Eleven would be Amy's ideal match (born into the role), but he would also be completely aware her death is a fixed point. The base of his identity is shattered and gone because no matter how much he yearns for it, Amy can never come back.
Sorry if i rambled too much, I hope you don't completely hate what I see. Living tenamy would be cosmic joy, fucked up borderline religion towards each other punctuated by the repeated spiritual murder-suicide. Dying tenamy would be loss of innocence, identity issues and devastation. Because they'd know its coming, they are just doing everything to delay the inevitable. The Doctor runs away, and she'd get the chance to run with him, but eventually everything he is running from will catch up to her (like it does everyone) drag her away, leaving him running alone. Unlike others, Amy would know she was going to be dragged away and accepted it with open arms.
Tenamy anon, please I am begging you to impart your visions (and future ones) onto me. We are like the only two tenamy's in the world and we need to stick together. This inspired me, so I'm going to do something tenamy related now. Take care!!

Literally no one asked so I'm building my Sonic HC Library
Shadow
100% vibing with him being autistic
no wonder I must protec
Gives off he/they enby, but I also don't think he's thought much about it one way or the other, he just feels like he knows who he is and that's valid
Panromantic, may or may not be demisexual.
He has a type(tm) and it's Maria, I mean, the beaniest of beans, I mean, 'the gentle and hopeful and somehow still fully in love with the world despite being forced to face with the cruelest realities of it' type
(he'd probably hear silver's backstory and just suddenly fall madly in love because this bean is such a bean despite everything he's gone through)
(does this count as demiromantic (probably))
Bruh would feel so awkward with a crush but he'd probably seem mostly normal except to people who knew him pretty well (Rouge, and then she'd tease him for it), and he'd get so flustered if they ever tried to make a move on him like 'what are you doing' + internal panic
Looks like he's totally in control, but if he ever gets his own place it will be an absolute disaster cuz our boi don't know shit
Asking him for polyamory would probably result in "whatever, just spend time with me"
They'd probably get overprotective in physically dangerous situations tho
I’ve also got this theory that Shadow is a genetically modified Chao (for the breakdown, go here)
Sonic
Vibing with the transman fanon rn
I'd say he's on T if it wasn't for the fact that our boi couldn't stay in a single city to save his life
He has a type(tm) and it's Sally Acorn, uh I mean, 'the confident and self-assured but somehow still conscientious leader's type
(I can see him with some of the newer versions of Amy, considering her character growth so far)
(oh look, another demiromantic)
Man can't stick around long enough to keep a long term monogamous relationship tho, so he'd be a comet in a thousand different QPRs
Maybe he's relationship anarchist, idk but it makes sense
Definitely a solo poly guy tho. He's his own primary.
Silver
FEMBOY
My boi deserves all the love
Would probably come back from the future at some point and then just keep delaying going back to the future because all his friends are in the past and he's so lonely
(oh no, can't go back to the future, accidentally started a family in the past, whatever will I do *lives the rest of his life in happiness and adventure*)
is giving he/they/she
Espio
Transmasc goth boi
(I love him)
Seems like he's pretty stable and self-assured. Would probably be really polite and attentive as a partner. Would absolutely just ask his crush out on a date, cuz again, he's in a good place.
(and if he didn't he knows that Vector would stage an intervention for him)
Rouge the Bat
Ngl she's giving transfem/mtf vibes
Absolutely loves messing with people. Probably partly why it's so hard to pin down what her moral compass is, she *likes* keeping people guessing
Can't do that with Shadow tho, they may have even gotten in an argument about it at one point
She still loves him tho, Shadow's a found brother/sibling
Charmy Bee
Baby trans boy
I imagine his Big Brother(tm) Espio started sharing his experiences as a trans guy and Charmy was like "GASP, THAT'S ME!!"
(Someone pointed out to me that female honey bees have stingers and not males, so now it's headcanon)
Vector
Unfortunately I can't not see him as the token cishet guy in Sonic's friend group
Probably gets some loving flack about it ("when's your shell gonna crack, big guy" "you sure you don't wanna check out men? I met a really sweet guy at the bar the other day")
May have a reputation for adopting gays.
Might not suddenly be housing them, but he'd absolutely send random care packages
(is this why you're always in debt, buddy)
Definitely has bi wife energy (his wife being Vanilla (eventually))
(more to come, probably, eventually)

Hi lovelies! It’s your girl Finesse. I’m finally back in the main villa after Casa Amor. I have so much tea to spill so get your cups and hold ‘em tight!
I know you’re all wondering why I didn’t share with you last week. Well, I needed time to really process everything myself before I brought it to y’all. Like how Amy is all over Marshall and she knows Ozzy is my man! That pisses me off to no end. Marshall has been speaking so ugly about Ozzy at every turn. And Amy doesn’t think anything of it. She’s love drunk on Marshall. It’s giving me so much ick I can’t be around either of them, much less when they are together. But that doesn’t stop her from pulling me into a private chat every five minutes. She is blocking the graft and yet she wants to know if I’m sticking or switching. I don’t even know.
Chloe tells me she likes Francis, so I stepped back from him and got to know Andy a bit more. Okay, you got me. I got to know Andy quite well, even biblically. I took Andy to the hideaway and he took my breath away. I have been to the hideaway before but it was heavenly with Andy. He is such a sweetheart! He even offered to turn down the opportunity so I could take Chloe instead. Yes, Chloe is still very much in the picture. I told her I want to keep it casual between us. I don’t want to close the door on us completely, but I know she hasn’t found anybody she’s falling for yet either. Maybe we could make a go of it.
Hamish. The self-titled “Ham Man.” He doesn’t want me but he gets mad when I say I don’t want him. Okay?? Then he picks up my note I dropped next to my bed the night before. I don’t snoop around your bed, drama fiend! I still don’t know who wrote me the note. I wish I knew. I really hope it was Ozzy. I need some reassurance I’m still the girl he wants. I know he’s still the man I want next to me in the final. But back to Hamish - he and Grace have been kissing. But he told the Casa boys (or led them to believe) that he and Grace went all the way. Of course Grace set the record straight that it was only kissing and touching. I don’t like guys that make it seem like they did more with a girl than actually happened. If you wanna write a fantasy story, write it! Don’t go telling your mates it happened for real!!
Marshall and Amelia are the most extra couple I have ever met. They made a public announcement during our losers’ party in Casa Amor that they were switching together. I know. I KNOW!! The world doesn’t revolve around you two!! I don’t care if you decided you’re taking my boo’s disgusting brother to the main villa. I don’t care that you’ve gotten “serious” after a couple of days. Go bother someone else dammit!
In other news, I told Grace I might take Andy into the main villa with me. He is such an angel to me. He’s not about a lot of drama, he’s mature and secure in himself. Andy is quite the gentleman and I could be very happy with him. But I don’t want to give Ozzy the wrong impression.
I can’t believe the Casa boys couldn’t tell I’m a better kisser than Amy! It was a tie?! I just want something to myself. And now I had to go on a double date with Amy and Marshall, the walking red flag. Speaking of flags, apparently all of the boys are walking green flags to Amy (which should be a red flag to Marshall but he is only using my twin to get in the main villa).
So when we get into the main villa Amy, of all people, gets the first text. Whoop-di-do 🙄. And against my advice, she picks Marshall. But in a shocking twist of fate, Jamal has brought Helen of Troy (sorry, she is goddess-like), I mean Flo into the villa. The surprised look on Amy’s face was so worth it!! I’m proud of Jamal for that. He didn’t need Amy dragging him along any more. Chloe and Roberto both stuck to each other as friends. Such a lovable duo, they are. Ozzy and Grace both stuck and Hamish threw a fit and stormed out of the villa! I can’t blame him. Grace led him on after he put all his eggs in her basket. But I’m glad Ozzy won’t be leaving anytime soon. I need him to pick me at the next coupling! I chose to stick with Elliot, but I don’t know what he has decided. In the postcard it looks like he’s admiring a girl in the shower. A very familiar looking girl. She looks like Ivy but I could be wrong. I don’t need her coming after my partner in the villa. I am all the queen this villa needs. Well, if Elliot switched, I hope I can ask Andy or Francis to couple with me. I don’t want my summer of love to end here.
Well, that’s all for now. See you next time!
Xoxo, Finesse
