also @dangerously-human, I read one of your posts a bit ago about how they erased a lot of the impact of season 3 (e.g fauxlivia conflict, less of Walter having to come to grips with the impact of his experimentation, the alt team never got to figure out what happened to broyles, Henry(😭), and a few other things.) I overall do agree with your points, and you wrote it all out much more eloquently XD, but I love enough of season four and it’s concepts that I have forgiven the show writers for most of those things (for the most part…). I do think it’s kind of a gutsy thing to have the timeline fixed back into what it originally should have been (supposedly), and a really interesting thing to explore, I just wish it hadn’t come at the cost of previous character development (for the most part alternates, though a little of Walter’s). I do really love when shows get really out there with universes and time and space stuff though, as long as they are grounded in the characters and their arcs and relationships with one another and not getting lost in the weeds of the scifi babble. something I think agents of shield did really well in seasons 5,6, and 7. a lot of people jumped ship around those seasons, but they might be my personal favorites, and the latter half of fringe reminds me so much of agents of shield.

✨️Put 5 songs you listen to, post it, then send this ask to 10 of your favorite followers :) 🎶
Thank you! This is a little mix of songs I like, and I always find my way to them. My musical taste is rather unspecified, but I'm fond of my mix of symphonic metal, alt-folk, musical (mostly indie) and whatever comes to my mind.

3.11 “Reciprocity” — with some thoughts about Walter and Peter’s past sins haunting them, parents and chidren, Peter/Olivia, Astrid being amazing, Broyles being a great boss, and how the alt world doubles work emotionally.
Peter making Walter a pb&j sandwich and telling him “you can’t protect me from everything” is a really poignant moment about parents and adult children. The child will always be the parent’s child, but as children grow and parents grow older, the dynamics shift.
After all the experiments Walter did using people, his anger and indignation about Massive Dynamic wanting to run tests on Peter has some layers. It’s not just hypocrisy arising from his love of his son. He regrets the past. We’ve seen his regrets about his past practices. The prospect of Peter being the “lab rat” at Massive Dynamic is one more way Walter’s past sins as a scientist are coming to haunt him.
If you need an encryption expert to go through 300 pages of encrypted data, in a personally sensitive and discreet way—you go to Astrid Farnsworth. Broyles has immense respect for the agents he’s responsible for and their unique strengths. He knows what they’re best at, and their weaknesses, and how to deploy the team to the best advantage.
Except Walter. With Walter, Broyles endures with immense long-suffering stoicism and patience, he’s the wild card they have to use. Broyles respects Walter’s intellect, but he relies on Olivia and Astrid, and I suspect Broyles believes Peter would be a great asset if he decided to become more than a consultant—that Peter has a lot of potential as an agent, but the way Peter’s brain works anyway, he’s able to be great at any number of jobs he has no actual qualifications for yet carries it off competently.
Peter’s past sins are coming for him too. After being a con artist, and thinking his marks were stupid or gullible—he gets conned by Fauxlivia and he’s convinced Fauxlivia’s diaries will see him the way Peter saw his former marks, and he’s ashamed, of himself and his past, and of being seen that way himself. He tells Olivia “I don’t want you to see me that way.”
Olivia, who needed time for her own pain and hurt, realizing that Fauxlivia didn’t just rip out her heart, steal everything that’s hers, she preyed on Peter too. Tricked him, used him, played on his love for Olivia.
But when Olivia reads the journals, she finds out that’s not how Fauxlivia saw Peter. That Fauxlivia saw his goodness, that she kept forgetting why she was there, getting swept up in Peter. We saw Fauxlivia struggling. Newton called her out on her hesitancy about doing what has to be done. She didn’t see Peter as the gullible mark. She was genuinely falling for him.
That must hurt Olivia on a different level than Peter not realizing it wasn’t really her. Olivia however is also discovering how much like her Fauxlivia is. Maybe that’s helping it to click for her how much Fauxlivia was using Peter’s love for her, that it was what Astrid said, it was actually about Peter wanting to be with her. And so he welcomed the small changes and he thought it was finally him and Olivia being able to get closer. If he had been less in love with Olivia, Fauxlivia might not have been able to pull it off.
There’s been parallels. A shapeshifter replacing a husband and the wife, after decades of marriage, where they have grandkids, doesn’t catch on, because the shapeshifter so thoroughly imitated that person and mimicked their feelings and had feelings. Fauxlivia became Olivia, willfully, to such a degree it fooled Peter, while Olivia trapped on the other side, got brainwashed into believing she was Fauxlivia against her will.
They share DNA. They are identical physically. They aren’t the same in personality all the way through but Olivia says they process things in similar ways, use similar phrases. Olivia says that of course Fauxlivia fell for Peter, because she would have seen Peter the way she sees Peter, noticed what she notices. The alt world doubles are the same person, in some ways, placed into difference circumstances. Not twins. The same person, on different worlds.
It’s how Walter and Walternate are too. There are differences. But before Belly removed part of Walter’s brain, he was more like Walternate. And they have their shared love of Peter. Their selfishness mixed with altruism. Their intellect. And a bunch of other things in common. Walter is Walternate, Walternate is Walter, in different circumstances.

“Despite what you think, my universe is not at war with yours. This all began because a man came over here to save a boy and twenty-five years later, I came back to save that same boy. But if you let me die, then we will strike back and we will fight. But if you let me go, both universes can survive. There must be another way and I promise you I will find it. ”

You obviously gotta do Peter and Olivia on the "who does what" ship questions. :D
Ughhhh yes! My universe(s) saving couple of badasses. Which, of course, I saw a commercial on my Amazon Prime recommending I start rewatching Fringe again, which like, yes, but also...I just rewatched the whole show like...3 weeks ago.
Gives nose/forehead kisses - Peter, because it’s canon and it’s ADORABLE. And like...Olivia really isn’t the MOST affectionate of the two but Peter so is, and it’s just such a great dynamic.
Gets jealous the most - I don’t think either of them would be, now that they’ve gotten their shit together (twice over). Olivia went through all of that with Alt-Livia, in season 3 and once she and Peter get past that, I really don’t think jealousy becomes an issue. Sure, Peter was a little jealous of Olivia’s relationship with Lincoln in season 4, but that got wrapped up quick. It also helps that Lincoln ended up with an Olivia of his own in Alt-Livia (which I think is both adorable AND hilarious)
Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive - On the rare occasion that Peter and Olivia get shmammered, I think they’d A, do it together, and B, just take a cab home.
Takes care of on sick days - Peter takes care of Olivia, full stop. Olivia is 1000000% the type to overwork herself to the point of exhaustion. Peter is a close second, but he has more of an understanding of what his limits are, and does take breaks (whether they’re Walter wants a snack-induced or it’s time to flirt with Olivia induced). When Olivia gets sick and the combined efforts of Peter AND Broyles to take a break, then, with reluctance, Olivia lets Peter take care of her.
Drags the other person out into the water on beach day - Peter 10000%. Olivia is 10000% the more serious of the two, and on the rare occasion that they take time off from trying to save the world, Peter would definitely be the one to drag Olivia away from the shelter of the reports she snuck into her bag to review while at the beach.
Gives unprompted massages - Peter, definitely. Especially after he and Olivia get together (both times) and they have the opportunity to be tactile with one another, Peter DEFINITELY takes advantage of it. Like, they were suuuuuper touchy from day 1, but now that he has permission? It’s cuddle time ALL the time (when they’re, you know, not trying to save the world)
Drives/rides shotgun - Olivia drives every time they have the opportunity, and especially when they’re working. Peter doesn’t mind being chauffeured around, since he does all the driving he can when he’s in the car with Walter (unless Walter’s having one of his self-actualization moments)
Brings the other lunch at work - Astrid. Someone has to keep her scientists and FBI agents healthy and functioning, and it sure as hell is not going to be Peter and Olivia (and, of course, Water).
Has the better parental relationship - Well....that’s a tricky one. I think Peter gets this one by default once he and Walter clear up all the nonsense and Peter acknowledges Walter as his dad and Walter decides to finally start treating Peter as his son. Obviously it’s not perfect. I also LOVE the relationship Peter has with Elizabeth from Over There, what little we see of that, and that’s definitely functional, all things consider. Olivia’s relationship with her mother from Other there was a lie, and of course her step-dad was a piece of shit. So, goes to Peter.
Tries to start role-playing in bed - I don’t think either would, really. Olivia had to pretend to be Alt-Livia and isn’t a fan of putting on a persona, especially not in bed with Peter, and Peter is happy to follow her lead.
Embarrassingly drunk dancer - They’re both pretty decent dancers, and Olivia isn’t the type to let loose and be ridiculous, let alone Peter. I would say, of the two, the answer would probably be Walter.
Still cries watching Titanic - Neither. Olivia doesn’t have time for movies like that, and as much as Peter enjoys a good classic, he’s not the type to get emotional about movies.
Firmly believes in couples costumes - Walter, of course. Peter isn’t here for it, and Olivia is probably slightly more inclined to humor him.
Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas - Peter would. He’d find something sweet and obscure that Olivia would love, but she would definitely make a stink about the price tag.
Makes the other eat breakfast - Well, when it’s not Walter making frittatas naked on Tuesdays, it’s Peter. Olivia is the type to have dry cereal and whiskey for dinner (see: season 1), so Peter is the one who makes sure she’s fed and healthy.
Remembers anniversaries - Olivia has a photographic memory, and she and Peter like to acknowledge important dates from both the Blue ‘Verse and the Amber ‘Verse.
Brings up having kids - Well, it was Olivia in canon, so yeah, Olivia. Which, is actually the more left field of choices between the two, imo, but I like it, because it makes for a TON of character growth for Olivia, who was this crime-solving robot when the show started, and now she’s looking forward to the future and having a family with Peter, and that’s just adorable as hell.

                    FEBUWHUMP DAY FIVE ALT “COMA”

Tumblr media
"I have a bad feeling about this.” Those were the exact words that had left Kat’s lips as she stood in front of her twin brother. Both pairs of eyes however, were focused on the massive doomsday device in front of them - the machine that had been plaguing their lives for almost a year now. It was still very much active, whirring and pulsing with electricity. A frown found its way onto her brow, as Kat bit the inside of her cheek.
“Now you’re just being overly cautious,” Peter had retorted and she shot him a look wanting to say something in retaliation but Agent Broyles interrupted them saying that the scientists were ready when he was. Both Astrid and Walter wished him good luck, leaving Kat to do so last - Peter didn’t even get to speak when she suddenly surged forward and wrapped her arms around his waist. Peter grunted at the force of her body crashing into his, he hadn’t felt her hug him this hard since they both went their separate ways. “I’ll be fine.” She had to let him do this, because if she didn’t then the whole universe would be screwed.
As she stepped away, moving to stand next to her father (who reached out his hand and gripped onto hers) they watched as Peter moved towards the stupid machine and ... instantly get thrown away from it landing on the ground looking like he had just gone through a storm. For the next hour or so everyone seemed to be running on pure adrenaline, especially her and Walter. The pair of them not leaving Peter’s bed once he had come out of surgery, the doctor’s telling them that physically he was fine but they just couldn’t wake him up. That he was now in a coma.
Kat was perched next to him on the bed - her small frame allowing her to rest her head against his chest and clutch onto his hand with a tight grip (hoping to see if he’d react), without hurting him further. Walter had left the room not that long ago, but he had given his attention to his daughter, resting a hand against her head and pressing a kiss to her forehead. It was strange, that was the most affection she had gotten out of Walter for the last two years - not to say that he wasn’t affection just that touch wasn’t his strongest suit.
“Hey,” Looking up Kat spotted Olivia as she lingered in the doorway - her eyes shifting to look at the man next to her unconscious in the bed. Kat could tell that Olivia was upset that she hadn’t been there for him, that she hadn’t been with them when they were testing this crazy theory. Maybe she would have objected? Kat thought, maybe Olivia would have talked some sense into her twin. Kat shifted, turning to rest on her back trying her best not to jostle Peter.
“Hey,” She replied, her voice rough and she could instantly tell that her tears had made her face quite red and puffy. Shifting once more, Kat sat up on the bed. “How was New York?” She really didn’t want to linger on the fact that she looked like ass. Olivia sighed and made her way into the room, pulling off her jacket and chucking it over the back of the chair Walter had claimed.
“No luck,” The blonde replied sitting down in the chair and leaning against her knees, pressing her face into her hands. “Any trace of Sam Weiss was a dead end. Even the apartment that apparently belonged to him was a cover.” Kat let her nose scrunch as she let the information sink in. “How is he?” Olivia questioned and Kat looked down at her brother.
“Uh, apparently he’s good ...” She frowned again. “He’s fine just that ... he’s not waking up.” A sniff then and Kat had to hide her face in her hands. She didn’t move until she felt a slender hand against her back. Looking up, Kat saw that Olivia had stood from the chair and moved to stand next to her. “I should have stopped him...” She mumbled.
Olivia shook her head, hand rubbing against the brunette’s back. “Even if you tried it wouldn’t have worked.” The agent replied. “You know Peter better than anyone. Once he has his mind made up,” Kat couldn’t help the snort that left her lips. “Besides he was trying to save the universe.”
“But still ...” Kat trailed off before she fell to the side, her head coming to rest against Olivia’s stomach. “I should have protected him.” Olivia’s other hand came to rest against the side of Kat’s head, a kiss was pressed to her crown.
“You are now.”
“I’m a terrible sister,” A sigh left her lips, stuttering slightly as the tears started to appear once more. Olivia tightened her grip on Kat and shook her head even if the younger girl couldn’t see.
“Of course you’re not,” the blonde pulled away, placing her hands on both of Kat’s cheeks, tilting her head up and wiping away her tears. “You’re the best sister that Peter has and he knows that.” Kat couldn’t help the smile that slowly crossed her lips. “He’s proud of you.” Kat let herself fall forward against Olivia once more, her arms wrapping around the other woman’s waist this time. “Remember that.”
“I will...”

Arts Fishing Club announces new studio album: "Emery" and releases earlybird singles.
August 2022 - Arts Fishing Club is a band with a passion for creating music that feels personal, spontaneous, and genuine. As opposed to being stuck in the usual categories, the group created a sound that seamlessly blurs the lines between a wide variety of music influences. From indie-folk, to pop, and alt-rock, anything goes. The only rule here is to actually make music with passion, something that can connect with people from all walks of life. Recently, Arts Fishing Club announced an upcoming new studio effort titled "Emery", which stands out for its amazing production and for Arts Fishing Club’s incredible songwriting skills. The album is set to feature 12 songs, including the previously released track “Space Cow.” The lead single from this release offers an insightful taste of the band’s formula and down-to-earth sound. The jangly guitar riffs and the stomping drums offer a great backdrop for the catchy hooks and 60s-flavored arrangement. The band is also going to release another single from the album: “Bad = Woman = Bad,” which is going to be available soon
Don’t miss out on this release if you like bands such as Bon Iver, Francis Moon, Wilco or Frankie Broyles, among others! More importantly, stay tuned for the release of "Emery"

SEND ME A FANDOM: Fringe
oh sweet baby jesus, let's go
SEND ME A FANDOM
The first character I first fell in love with: Olivia, of course. I already went in being in love with her (there’s a whole story here).
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: I think it’s safe to say September. We literally know nothing of him at the beginning and then... well. Spoilers.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: SUDDENLY I DON’T KNOW HOW TO READ does anyone like john? because i hate him idc what redemption arc he goes thru fuck that guy
The character I love that everyone else hates: I don’t think this character exists. Maybe Nina? I love her, and I think most of the fandom does it , too.
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Okay, look, here’s the thing. It’s not that I don’t like him anymore. I love him, forever. But I don’t completely agree with how they handled s04 and his romance with Alt!Liv, so... our Lincoln. I think they could’ve written it in a way that didn’t seem like they both were settling ??? (specially liv) it just seems off somehow, idk. But I do love to see them on s05, THERE they seem like a real couple that love each other.
The character I would totally smooch: Alt!Liv. 2036 Etta.
The character I’d want to be like: I’m already like her.
The character I’d slap: Harris. HATE THAT GUY.
A pairing that I love: Polivia, all day every day. Alt!Liv + Alt!Lincoln.
A pairing that I despise: Nina & Broyles. What the flying hell was that kiss. Rachel + Peter (tho i firmly believe that whole them being friends was rachel teasing peter about having a crush on olivia, no one can convince me otherwise).

“If you don’t trust me, then there is no hope” — this scene with Olivia and alt Broyles is fantastic and an example of the kinds of acting work they did on Fringe and the kinds of scenes these actors got to do. It’s really beautiful television. Because it’s genre, it often got overlooked critically of course, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t outstanding. The cast was great and the writers consistently delivered material that gave them a great canvas to work with.
and Broyles later in the same episode, giving his answer to Olivia. “I’ve seen war. If what you say is true, I have to believe in hope”
Broyles over there is maybe the most similar to Broyles over here of any of them. His integrity and goodness, his belief in doing what’s right, his mindfulness for the many, and his caring for people. Both he and Olivia needing to believe in a better way a more hopeful way, other than assured destruction of one world or the other.
That forehead kiss Peter gives og Olivia. With so much pain coming. Because Olivia doesn’t know yet what happened while she was away. Ow.
