#this is how i ended up with a 130+ page doc of random curesona drabbles
👀? Could you possible spill some of that information?
i have a doc called "gotta get the sillies out" which is where i put the random thoughts in my head that i need to get out so i can get back to waffleverse. it's mostly stuff with my curesona and her team and a few of my other fanseason teams. don't think i'll ever actually publish anything from it because my curesona's season's lore is Very Niche and Specific and Complicated. here's the proof of doc though
#i've been working in this doc since june 2023 which is part of why it's so long#but i don't want to start a new one and split everything up. also some of this length is because i figured out how to make mock ao3 layouts#and that means big text#anyways. my curesona's lore is very decidedly un-traditionally precure#i was 13 when i made it and very new to precure at the time (i hadn't even watched an actual season yet i'd just watched a few episodes#of glitter force and some clips on youtube)#it's also 3 seasons long. technically. i obviously never actually wrote out those three seasons in their entirely#fun fact! a lot of inspiration came from hacha & the international cures. hacha was almost my first precure season#i read a synopsis on the wiki and thought it sounded cool. the only reason why it wasn't is because the anime site i found only had#the series up to episode 30 at the time. and i wanted to watch a more complete one#i have some more 'traditional' fanseasons that came after but i've never really felt the drive to write for them aside from plot overviews#they mostly exist to quote memes in my sketchbook#asks#thesilliestofgals#even though i don't plan on publishing anything i am willing to give a rundown if anyone wants me to#i would do it in these tags but it's kind of long

haha finally debuting my magical girl marvels au! i was thinking of a manga cover while making this; i really wanted it to have a kinda hyperpop and sailor moon style.
So! In my version of this AU, the Marvels travel through different dimensions to fight the forces of evil to balance the multiversal scale! They do this, via train! The train is usually a subway, but it magically adapts to the dimensions they are in. (Ex. Submarine Looking Train for a mainly water dimension, an old style train for a dimension with a earlier timeline.)
Billy Batson is a Train Conductor! I based his outfit on those train conductor uniforms and I really like it. His main base powers are, of course, lighting, and the ability to make portals! He uses the portals in his fighting style, dodging with portals instead of blocking attacks. Billy can only teleport to a mirror dimension without the aid of the train, so he actually teleports to the mirror dimension in fights when he dodges, then portals back to the og dimension. The train boosts his powers so his ability to travel to the mirror dimension is enhanced, and he can travel to other dimensions when using the train. (Other then that, its a basic portal power lol)
Mary’s design was inspired by fairy tale princes, which is actually really random but I made it work. I wanted the three of them to be different genres of magical girls, but still fit look like they are in the same style. Her base powers in this AU is basically charisma (yes, literal charms), and lightning. So, her charisma powers are pretty much just that people will be more inclined to do things her way; she lets off an aura of power + confidence that no one can say no to (besides Billy and Freddy, they are immune). She also will look extremely intimidating to people when she wants to. So in a nutshell, her power is to change the way people perceive her, and use that to her advantage. Mary often uses this to do undercover work, or info gathering about the dimension they are in.
Freddy, is a mermaid based magical girl. He can shift between having a mermaid tail and his legs. His base powers are hydrokinesis (ability to control water) and (can you guess it?) lightning! Though not shown here, Freddy actually uses water to float himself around. The water is thinly covered over his body and he uses that to get around without his crutches. He learned how to do this after seeing how he can float in the water when swimming. Freddy doesn’t do this all the time because it requires a lot of control and it can tire himself out. He used to do it all the time, but once in a battle, he shifted all his focus into the fight and lost control of the water that makes him float. Freddy learnt to not completely rely on his powers all the time after that. I’ll go more into this specific event later bc I think this scenario would really impact how Freddy sees his disability, and how he learns to accept it. I imagine this Freddy is more recently disabled and that he still has bitter feelings about it. The thing with Freddy’s dad in the boat still happened (they got attacked by one of Billy’s enemies), and that’s when he got his leg injury. He met Billy that way and got his powers. (Basically just how CM3 got his powers.. idk why im explaining it)
The thing is that I, myself, am not disabled so I need a bit of help understanding what that would be like to accurately write Freddy’s struggles with his disability. 😭
Another thing is that I’m not sure what their hero names would be? I tried doing those precure names like ‘Cure Marvel!’ but that would only work for one of them and I would still need names. Marvel *insert something here* or *something* Marvel is an idea but I wouldn’t know what to put.
yeah, theres my au lol maybe i’ll post more about it
edit: i did post more about it! heres the linked posts!

my brain's been thinking about certain realmers as magical girls recently, so i'm presenting my losa+tina x pretty cure au! i was inspired to make this when i saw this art by @melmokk3 !! maybe i'll make a madoka au as well but i wanted to make something more lighthearted and silly before anything else. what pretty cure is and what the au is are explained below the cut :3
okay so to quickly summarize what pretty cure/precure is, it's a magical girl series! there's currently 22 seasons and there's usually a different cast for each one. the story normally goes: a fairy's kingdom has been attacked by evil, they find the legendary pretty cures, they defeat the monsters of the week, and in the end good wins!! my au isn't based around any season in particular but instead i'm pulling from a lot of the common tropes/general tone and from what the spinoff seasons full bloom and mirai days are doing, which is working with aged up versions of the main casts.
as for the au itself-
the au focuses on ros, tina, sneeg, and clown. they're all adults in our modern world, living in a city... somewhere. they've got jobs, they're trying to make rent, and despite everything life could be worse! on one fateful day, coworkers ros and tina are window shopping when they encounter foolish! i don't have a solid vision for his design but i'm thinking he'd be like candy and pop from smile precure/glitter force. he's the fairy and therefore helper to the cures. he gives the two the rundown of how he got into this mess: he was the grand ruler of the kingdom of fools, until the malicious badgers attacked and destroyed the kingdom for the sake of causing chaos. now he's on the hunt for the legendary pretty cure warriors to save his kingdom, and their world, from destruction. shortly after they'd get attacked by pangi, and ros would become the first cure out of 4
after ros becomes a cure, she'd deal with a couple of fights with pangi with the occasional bbh sighting! she and tina would then be introduced to clown, who would become the second cure and the then strongest of the bunch. clown becoming a cure would also coincide with mocha/pili being introduced as a villain. sneeg would hear about all of the monsters running amok in the city his buddy ros lives in, so on the day he goes to check-in on her, the first attack orchestrated by the triple threat happens, and sneeg would become the third cure. if/when tina becomes a cure at all it would be much later down the line, probably closer to whatever explanation i can give the war in this au. in the meantime though, i have agendas to push so qpr losa and rostina yuri would be happening and are the relationship endgames.
i don't have solid designs in my head as of yet, but i've got a theme and some general color schemes/ideas. i'm still working on just picturing some stuff such as what they're using to transform/use their finishing attacks, as well as just fleshing out what happens between/during everyone becoming magical girls. seeing as the cures are fighting for the sake of the kingdom of fools though, why not theme them around a circus and circus positions?
ros would be Cure Ringleader, the head of the team, quickest of the bunch, and a purple cure. clown would be either Cure Jester or Cure Clown, he'd be a red cure, the best skill-wise, and he'd have a fire-based finisher. i'm still conflicted on sneeg's cure name but for now he's Cure Trapeze. he's a blue cure who can fly, and has a lightning finisher. lastly there's tina who's Cure Magician. she's a pink cure and the strongest magic-wise. i dont have the best vision of her finisher but i think somehow it'd involve a magician's hat. the losa would have a trio attack as well as duo attacks for each pairing. tina and ros would have a duo attack, and the 4 combined would have some crazy finisher that i'd imagine would put whatever they're fighting through a circus or something (thinking about the you&idol finishers as inspiration for the 4 cure attack, where whatever they're fighting literally gets teleported to a circus).
that's most of my put-together thoughts on this au for now. not sure if i will ever post any art but i might post more words abt this later. i'm still working on it and i'll probably also wind up with that madoka au at some point :3
#the realm smp#trsmp#league of secret alchemists#losa#tinakitten#roscumber#sneegsnag#clownpierce#im admittedly new to precure and am working on getting through a few seasons#but if anyone has questions abt precure/the au pls feel free to ask !!!#now that im working on some of the writing side of things i will probably try and figure out#what the hell i want to do with everyone's designs and where i'd even start with that#maybe by the time im done there will be more realm canon rostina or 3/3 losa who knows (coping)

Wonderful Precure Episode 36 Review - Precure History Has Been Made
If Delicious Party had the record of having a male character fighting alongside a Precure while not being an actual Precure and if Hirogaru Sky had the record of having the first male Precure, then Wonderful has the record of having a male support character finally have his feelings for a Cure reciprocated. This is definitely one for the history books; it’s even trending in Japanese Twitter! Everyone wanted this so bad and so did I!
I was surprised that this didn’t end off open-ended or having Iroha putting off her confession on hold until she feels the same way like how some romance animes do. The pacing was great and how it was executed was great, especially for someone with Iroha’s character. I feel like Toei allowed this to happen because Friendy isn’t the leader/pink Cure as that’s Wonderful’s role. I guess your feelings are allowed to be reciprocated as long as you aren’t in love with a pink Cure? Is that how it works?
Iroha is a very loving person. She loves everyone, so it’s inevitable that she has a hard time differentiating what romantic love could be, or what makes someone special. She sort of reminds me of Sakura Kinomoto in a way that she loves everyone, but realizes that romantic love for someone is much deeper and more special than regular love for friends and animals. I’m glad that Yoko was the one who gave her that push as she’s happily married to Tsuyoshi, after all.
What I like most is that how this anime describes love isn't bound by gender, but how special your feelings are. Iroha only realizes how special Satoru is after thinking about how he’s always there whenever she’s in trouble and how she wants to be there when he’s in trouble. I love the words Friendy uses after seeing Satoru getting kidnapped by Zakuro. She uses strong words like “Yada” instead of “dame” when it comes to refusal and says “It has to be Satoru and no one else!” I think that if you’re understanding of how Japanese language is like, it’s a language of nuance in a way. There are words that gives deeper meaning instead of words that are used more casually. Watching a lot of anime helped me pick up on the nuances, hence why I got a little emotional when Friendy uses these stronger words to describe how important Satoru is to her.
I also like that Satoru’s confession is taken seriously by those around him and even himself. He could’ve brushed aside Mey Mey’s words as a joke, but he mans up and confesses to her, showing how serious this is. I think that’s a charming thing about him—that he’s straightforward and honest about his feelings and never wants them to be taken as a joke. His will is very unwavering, like how Zakuro says. I also like how Niko and Daifuku comfort him and praise him for confessing. I just like the positivity of being able to express your feelings and not have someone berate you on why you have to confess and such. Ah, youth…
Though, I did wonder why Zakuro just ups and kidnaps Satoru for romantic excitement when she’s in love with Gaou. I guess she’s just lonely and desperate for her love to notice her? Though, it was nice tension in a way for Friendy to finally act up on her feelings.
The real MVP of this episode is actually Yuki for being the person who has to distract Komugi because she has no tact when it comes to romantic affairs. She definitely did her best to match a dog’s energy and did her best to pull Komugi away during important moments.
I wonder how things are going to change now that SatoIro has become officially canon? The writers better not dip out after this and have them break up after a few episodes; that’d be unforgivable. Though, I am still a bit surprised that this happened in the middle of the series. Confessions usually happen towards the end of a story and is used as some sort of story conclusion. I think it’s nice that they’re not dragging it towards the end. This does give a solid confirmation that Satoru is not going to be a male Cure. However, I just hope that Daifuku, at least, is able to gain the ability to talk and become a human even if he doesn’t transform. Give the rabbit his carrots! What are your thoughts on Precure history being made?

Ough my god SPEAKING of Mizuki's hyper-cheerful exterior, I was thinking about something recently!! When you compare her to the other Genki Girls of Project Sekai, there's a certain vibe difference between her and say, Emu or Saki. The vibe difference is, of course, that Mizuki is making an active effort to be as palatable as possible. But I noticed something more specific about that, that is, to me, equal parts cute and OW OW OW OW OW OW:
Mizuki totally acts like a kids' show character. Specifically, a Precure leader. (Which makes sense, given that Precure's almost certainly what MiraMagi Definitely Isn't, in the same way that TrickTrick Definitely Isn't TikTok.) Every kids' show protagonist is going to be niceys, obviously, they need to be good influences. But! There are still differences in the brand of niceys that each little kid franchise character embodies. And Mizuki's mask matches the Precure flavor just about perfectly...
What's most significant to me is that she's like, pushy about doing favors for her friends. Refer to her bullying Niigo into Going Out And Doing Stuff Because It's Good For Them. "Helpful to a fault" is a trait that Toei loves to give lead cures. You will have your pink cure who runs around helping everyone with a smile 24/7 (I am looking directly at Heart and Lovely especially), and you will have one of the other characters off to the side sighing something like "There she goes again, wearing herself thin because she is Just Too Nice. She doesn't know when to quit!".
There's also a second brand of "'helpful' is her one negative trait" cure, and that's the one who continually kills The Grumpy One with kindness, while the grumpy one in question thinks "Wow what a weirdo. Why are you so nice." (This time I'm looking directly at Peach, Heart and Lovely again, Miracle, and Star)
In general, she really often chooses to show her emotions in a very simple way, and it totally reminds me of how characters in anime for younger audiences tend to talk. When she's displaying 'really happy', she often takes a tone more akin to "announcing to the viewer" than "normal happy person". There's like, a lot of energy, and a sort of singsong tone, it makes me think of the recaps that tend to happen at the start and ends of Precure (and baby anime in general) episodes. The like, "Hi, I'm Firstname Lastname! I'm in 8th grade and this is my favorite thing! One day, a mysterious power turned me into a Precure, and now I fight bad guys!" thing. When she's displaying 'sad', she becomes a comical degree of mopey, and then bounces right back after a few seconds (refer to the "WAHHHHH MEIKO HATES MEEEEEE :(((((" card lol.) She also loves herself a good Noise No One Makes In Real Life... the breathy "a-haha..." sort of laugh when she's embarrassed, "Kyaa~!" when something cute catches her eye, drawn-out "Eeeehhhhhh?!" when she's shocked.
There's also a little bit of like, "irresponsible, but so cute about it that you can't get mad at her". Like in the Ena5 aftershow, where Ena's like "I'm glad you're here to make MVs again but don't demand a million drawings from me ok?", to which Mizuki is like "It's fiiine you can just pull an all-nighter for me :) can't you :)?". It reminds me of how half the lead cures are either Bad At Their Homework or Forget About It, and then wetly and pathetically and cutely beg the rest of the main cast to help them.
I dunno I just think it's. Extremely Mizuki to select the type of character whose worst flaw is "annoyingly nice and happy" as the basis for how she presents herself. If the person you pretend to be around others is totally perfect, it's weird and offputting (hi Mafuyu), so she has to display some kind of flaw. But being imperfect also opens her up to harassment, so of course she goes for the most hard-to-hate imperfection she can think of as her One Failing. And I also think it's Extremely Mizuki to have so much love in her heart for characters primarily designed to spread messages like "always be kind", "do the right thing" etc etc.
Mizuki is a little dweeb who likes cute low-stakes anime about peace and love on planet earth. And also she is not doing well mentally and all she wants is the peace and love on planet earth that her animes show. God. I love her
#I never thought my baby show connosoueiaour status would be useful but here we are#long post#I wonder if there's any relation to MiraMagi being Definitely Not Precure#and mahou tsukai featuring Miracle and Magical airing irl while she would have been in middle school#probably not but I do wonder

Sayori’s precure color chart
so I got bored yesterday and decided that I wanted to take a crack at the fandom’s most controversial topic: colors. I’ve broken it down all into charts and then I added them all together, counting a total of 91 cures in all. I did not include cures like Cure Mofurun or Cure Pekorin, choosing to keep the mascots separate and then I didn’t include like Cure Tender just cause she wasn’t a main line cure. My standard for this was that if they don’t really feature as part of the main team or aren’t in the all stars as cures, then they won’t be included.
….however, you may notice that I included Cure Regina in this line up. To be completely fair, I forgot to remove her and the data was already calculated. Once we get the mid season(s) for Kimi to Idol I’ll go back and remove her.
I also did not include different cure forms except for Cure Bloom/Bright and Cure Egret/Windy because they have different names. I also only included Miracle and Magical’s diamond forms only just because it’s their most iconic and they’re still miracle and magical but with different outfits.
Again, this is just my opinion on the Great Precure Color Debate and just for fun!
That being said, let’s start!

Starting off with the #1 color that everyone was expecting; pink! Now, it makes 100% sense why there are the most characters in this category considering every year since splash star and until tropical rouge theres been a pink cure as the leader. Honestly, iconic and I have to cheer and they make up about 21% of the cures ever.

Next we have the blue cures. Now, I was a bit surprised by them taking second place but it makes sense considering they’re a staple in both full teams and pink/blue/yellow teams. They take about 19% of all cures and good for them!

Now we have our first tie; yellow and purple. Considering how both have been used in both teams and pink/blue/yellow teams with purple usually being the late season, again not surprised. They take up about 15% of all cures.

Next is our red cures and it’s not particularly surprising that there are so few of them with how they usually only appear in team seasons and then with passion, scarlet, and macherie being the late seasons for pink/blue/yellow teams. They make up about out 8% of all cures.

Up next, white! White is always such a hard color to pin down because there could be arguments for prism or nyammy, however considering how white is the base and most prominent color in their design, I placed them here. Honestly, I think they should use White (and black) cures more often, but I’m happy enough with the 7% they have.

Toei’s favorite color; green! Now I’m well aware of the debate on whether felice, milky, and now lillian are true green cures and I see both sides. Mint and march are very green whereas felice has A LOT going on and milky and lillian are more teal/blueish, but like they can all hang out together in the same category it’s fine! However, if we do get a clearly teal cure I will move lillian and milky to that category. Kinda similar to how sunny was just with yellow until wing came along fandom wise. Green cures take up 5% of all cures.

Speaking of them, here’s the orange cures! I know yum-yum can be seen as a yellow cure sometimes as well, but to me she seems more orange. And then Satoru can be here as well since he did make it into the all stars movie and cure form for like the last five minutes of wonderful precure. The orange cures make up 4% of call cures.

The next categories that tied are rainbow and ??? ! I put parfait and summer in rainbow because they just have so much going on with their outfits that they can’t just be put in a one colored category. And for ??? I put rosetta because I am literally so stumped on her main color and then Regina (though she will be removed with the next update). These cures make up 2% of all cures respectively.

And finally, with only one character in this category, it’s the black cures. Honestly, I wish they would they would use the black/white color schemes more often, and if it doesn’t happen in Kimi to Idol we might have to have for the 25th anniversary season. Thank you cure black for being a trooper girl. Cure black makes up only 1% of all cures.

May I please learn about your Precure Fanseries?

So sorry to both of you askers for taking so long to answer!! I wanted to wait until I fully designed all the main characters and also made a new blog for my magical girl art (I think it's good to start to separate my fandoms a bit)
Anyways!! I currently have two fanseries in development but I'm focusing first on the older one, which I started around 2020 but abandoned for a while... Mostly because I stopped being into the inspiration
But! Late 2024, I got back into it, got very into something else and mashed that together. Back when I first created the fanseries I still wasn't used to writing or really developing a whole plot, so I made sure to do both before I really started the art and talking about the series. And I'm very happy with what I have now! My fanseries is titled
Fly! PreCure Starset☆
And the name gives it away- this fanseries is based on the band Starset and (very very) loosely based on the extended lore of the band. It's a very weird idea, especially since I got really into Hawaii Part ii and just mashed that in there too, but hey, what's the point of a fanseries if I can't go crazy? It's content for precisely one person and that's me
So to get to the questions:
It's a space and music theme! Not separately, the two are connected and are both the primary theme (mostly so there's no overlap with Star Twinkle)
Their colors - it originally followed the pink-blue-yellow formula but I kind of got self conscious about that, so the yellow was changed to white, I think it fits her better. And for the last question, I might just introduce the girls themselves
Zohar is the lead pink, and she like every character changed quite a bit. The basics are the same; she's very shy, quiet unless crying or stressed, and at the start of the series gets transported from Modi'in to America, meaning she's a fish out of water. Her Cure personality changed a lot - I ended up going with the gimmick that every girl changes a lot when she transforms, but Zohar has the biggest change. Her Cure form is bright, heroic, very brave and a lot more energetic. However, because of this she actually has a hard time bringing herself to transform, because she's so different, and she feels like she isn't fit to be a Cure
Also- each cure is based on a part of space and a music genre! Everglow's is shooting stars and Israeli rock
The second Cure who's probably second most different, because originally she really didn't have much of a personality beyond "airhead". And that part sticks! Aurora is very airheaded, very loud and energetic, a mix of Cure Sparkle and the typical pink personality with just a bit of arrogant edge. She also got a very significant development when I decided she would be a baker too- specifically a chocolate maker! It fits very well with her new personality, and also acts as a way for me to input some of my own sweets making knowledge in the show. It was something I decided to make sure the cast doesn't get repetitive; they don't all have music related goals
Halo represents the sun and her music genre is bubblegum pop
Luna is the character that has changed the most. She was very shallow originally, just a moody goth. I went away from that personality because it's very stereotypical, and her design especially got revamped since I wanted to portray accurate hair. Luna now is still a bit moody, but she's got more to her. She closes herself off from others because she's scared of getting hurt again, but once Zohar and Aurora prove themselves she becomes very close to them, especially Aurora. Her arc also involves her struggling with her parents' divorce, which is a conflict that to my memory was never addressed in PreCure. It's part of why she starts very distant
Satellite represents the sky and her music genre is punk rock
And finally...
The fairies and the helper character! (Think a mix of Laura before she becomes a Cure and Satoru)
They've been part of the story since the beginning, and have stayed pretty consistent
Major and Minor are the fairies who transport Zohar to America and who give the typical exposition to the Cures. However, they don't actually talk. Their "talking" is a melody in either major or minor notes, and only the Cures can understand it. Normal people also can't see them. Just like the association of the music notes, Major is upbeat and excitable while Minor is mellow and more serious. What's interesting though, is that they're not the ones who give the Cures their powers — Simon is. Why he has those powers is a mystery, but it's through him that Zohar, Aurora and Luna get their powers
He is more similar in personality to Laura, although way less excitable. Before the story starts he has never had friends which means a lot of the story is just about the team learning to get along. He acts as the down to earth voice of reason of the group, and also the one who collects the magic energy that the monsters steal, like Laura.
And that's all I have so far, at least until I start publishing the story! I'm very happy with what I have so far and I hope others enjoy it too!

Alright, Emmet losing his mind from the grief of losing Ingo is out- Hopeful Emmet is in! From now on me do full of hope Emmet! We stan hopeful Emmet here!
Indeed, he is so full of hope and love for his brother that he finds a magical Zorua that has goals paralleling his- and with his special new partner he turns into a Precure; "Cure Summit"!- Yup.
I'll like to thank "Rainbow Star" on Youtube that uploads songs from the Pretty Cure series for the inspiration for the format. They used to upload the songs with thumbnails like this all the time, but recently they stopped; no idea why. I think it was genuinely innovative and matched the charm the series has.
I struggled with the design for a while too, as male Cures are actually pretty new to the series, so I didn't had a lot of references to go by. Here are some extras from the process:

I was thinking of a literal train conductor, than an conductor (as in an orchestra), and than finally set on going with an "hiker / cowboy /adventurer" theme, thus the name "Cure Summit".
The song? "The Wind's Sympathy" as written, it's actually the character song of Cure Earth. But COME ON. I have not put the lyrics in there for no reason- Every time I heard it my mind went back to Emmet and his brother, not making the association was harder. The result is this piece. I "played around" with the lyrics of the song for the sake of the dramatic effect but I was already going by what I was given, so I hope any speakers don't find any of my choices weird. I'm sorry in advance!
Important note: I only took the song and pitched it down a little in Audacity to make it sound like a man's voice- Luckily Emmet is often depicted as a man with a thin voice. Or- *Ahem* A soprano, may I say?
(Fuck the people that use AI for shit like this instead of getting creative- I am not touching that shit with a 20 meter pole, I assure you! )
Oh, I also want to give some credits. I used the Sync Stones from Masters Ex game and made it their insignia (& used images of in-game items!) and I took some assets directly lifted from the Black & White game from "the spriters resource" website that people have put in a lot of work to pull out and used in the logo.
See you around and STAN HOPEFUL EMMET!!!

I'm so glad you love Kira Kira so much!!! It's such an underrated season ahhhh. The only thing keeping it from my own top spot is the treatment of Rio. He's my favorite precure character of all time and I simply can't let it slide T-T
Oooh yes it's so good! Like, it has the most well-constructed character arcs for each of the cures of any season, most are more lopsided.
Like with Ichika! She loves making sweets, but she's not very good at it at first. She's not a lethal chef or anything, she just isn't very experienced and doesn't know a lot. I loved watching her slowly work together with her friends to learn how to bake. It's not like some instant thing, you just notice her slow improvement throughout the season.
She does have something she's naturally gifted at, and that's decoration! She's really good at decorating treats in a way that will bring joy to the person who receives them, to the point that Ciel, a baking prodigy, actually learns from her in that regard.
Himari's arguably the most blatantly autistic cure there's ever been, and that's saying a lot. She loves baking and is an expert on the chemistry of it. Unfortunately, she's been discouraged from sharing her passion in the past, since her classmates got bored with her infodumping about the subject. I love her character arc about learning to come out of her shell and finding a way to use her infodumping tendencies for good by finding a receptive audience who enjoys being taught by her!
Aoi has my favorite character arc of the Cures. I love how she was inspired by her idol to become a musician and rock out with her bandmates, and how she's going against what's expected of her because, surprisingly enough, she's the heir to a wealthy family. She doesn't have any interest in running the corporation though. I loved her finding her voice and standing up for what she wants to do!
Cure Chocolat has one of the prettiest designs in Pretty Cure, in my opinion! Akira's character arc has some weaknesses, but it's still compelling. She's got a sick little sister she's protective of, and she tends to put too much on herself. I didn't really like that the show emphasized those self-sacrificial qualities - seriously she's gonna burn out at some point - but otherwise she's great!
She also has one of the most blatant queer relationships in the show. Like Kira Kira never SAYS that Akira and Yukari are a couple, but it sure hints at it.
There's never been a Pretty Cure character quite like Yukari. Even Yui, who's also a cat, is pretty different from her. Like she has this thing going on where she's good at everything instantly and it gets boring, which is why macarons interested her - she actually FAILED the first several times and had to work at making those to make them good.
I don't even really know how to describe her, she's so catlike. I don't think she actually changes a lot like the others do, you just see more facets of her. I love how easily she's able to act and fool villains, making them think they have the upper hand when she's actually playing them like a fiddle.
So her starting off as this haughty, slightly conceited prodigy who didn't think much of Ichika's merely alright pastries (given that she's world famous and has trained under the fanciest bakers in Paris), but slowly grows to see that even if Ichika's actual pastries are lackluster, they have a lot of heart, a lot of Kira Kira in them, and trying to figure out why that is. Her whole breakdown when she realizes how she just... didn't see what Pikario was going through, why he freaked out and ran away, and how he was then infected with evil and taken advantage of and STILL refused to talk to her even after being purified... she became a lot better at reading people as the season went on. I really love how she reached out to Biburi especially. She might not have been able to do much to save her brother, but she can help her at least.
On the bright side, at least Pikario got to be the first guy to have a claim to being a precure? Even if it was just a temporary power-up and he didn't get a Cure name, he was still first on that.
Pikario's the second-best Heel-Face Turn character I've seen in Precure (sorry Pikario, but Setsuna takes the top spot). I love how understandable his motives are. He and his sister went to Paris to learn how to be bakers together, but she's improving by leaps and bounds while he's being left behind and is becoming more and more frustrated, and she's rarely even around anymore. And then the last straw, when he makes the waffles she complimented so highly before, only for her to tell him they weren't as good as the ones from before... it was honest, but no wonder he snapped.
I love that he and his sister still had things to work out afterwards and that all his problems weren't instantly solved once he was freed of the brainwashing, the underlying problems that caused him to be vulnerable still had to actually be fixed first.
He definitely got cheated, he was one of the most interesting characters in the season (and the franchise, honesty), but he was put in a coma for a substantial portion of the show and didn't get to join the team permanently. But what WAS there still makes him a top-tier character.
---
I adore these characters so much, Kira Kira is SO underrated it's criminal.

In my opinion Precure is at its best when it incorporates the communities that the girls are protecting into it.
This of course stems all the way back from the original Futari wa. That shows main premise is "Ordinary days and people are important", and is by nature a normal slice of life whose drama is highlighted by the lengths Nagisa and Honoka go to protect it. As such, the girls have an extensive supporting cast, and the climatic battles often feature some level of emotional support by the supporting cast, even if they're not literally physically present. The girls are the vessels through whom humanities collective will to live is channeled. We spend our time witnessing this will within the people in the girls communities.
I've mentioned before how big a theme of community is in Fresh. There are a ton of minor side characters who make brief but frequent appearances to help flesh out this bustling city. In the end the girls reveal themselves to their community.
Princess and Heartcatch make great use of the victim of the week format to help build a strong supporting cast, understanding the motivations of these characters, who in turn help support the Cures in some way during the 11th hour.
This is part of what makes Happiness Charge and Doki Doki fall relatively flat to me. Their supporting casts aren't as fully developed. There's more one off victims. But there are still moments where this aspect shines, to me in Doki Doki in the involvement of the girl's families. The moment where Mana shouts her identity as Cure Heart is fantastic to me, I can practically see the gears turning in the family member's heads. The Oh Shit of it all.
While an identity reveal isn't a prerequisite for a strong sense of community it certainly contributes to the feelings. Both Futari wa's manage to have a strong sense of community, despite their final fights taking place when earth is reduced to a barren wasteland devoid of people, the fact they still take place on earth helps them make heavy use of the fact that despite being currently devoid of life these are places where there are meant to be life, and where life can exist again.
It's a big part of why while I love Suite, I feel it's objectively weaker than it's two predecessors despite mimicking them in so many aspects. In fact it's probably tied with the futari wa's for my favorite season. But I don't think it's nearly as good as it could be in part because of the lack of community compared to its predecessors. But what we do get of Kanon owns majority real estate in my heart. The entire town is so goddamn weird, and just down for whatever. If I could add an identity reveal to any season it'd be this one. I struggle to believe that no one in this town doesn't know (though that might be because they all are so oblivious). I'd take it away from Healin Good and Doki Doki if I had to and I love those seasons reveals.
Smile I feel is far more popular than Suite, and while I enjoy smile and think it's simplicity is to its strength it's really no surprise that the episode I care most about, more than 3/4 of the season combined, is the episode where Nao sort of kind of has an identity reveal. That's also partially because I just have a huge soft spot for kids. (Muse is my all time favorite. Go, make things worse you funky little messed up 9 year old. And I am probably one of the few people who actually LIKE the baby plotlines... which makes it honestly such an accomplishment that DeliPa got me to dislike their baby). But Smile has a lot of plots that are really self-contained to the main cast, and while I do enjoy how fleshed out the girls' families are the fact that they all turn into living rocks when the villains attack really makes them less interesting to me. Same with Tropical-Rouge, but Tropical-Rouge doesn't even fully flesh out any family that isn't Manatsu's.
Maho Tsukai and Star Twinkle both have fun main characters and worldbuilding, but the fact that, like Smile, the action and human town exist sort of separately from each other really keeps them from catching my attention. I want to like them. And I do. I just don't quite love them. I really love HiroSky's cures in particular, and adore the episodes where they are part of their communities, but do wish we had more of that.
And for what it's worth the miracle lights bring this sense of community into our reality, and they used to use the side cast to help illustrate this in the all star movies. It's great.
#I'm not saying seasons that don't do this are bad#they just don't tend to be my favorites#like I really do like the Star Twinkle girls#I wouldn't say their my favorite cures but they're above average cures to me#but the season isn't one of my favorites#because I find the sense of community lacking#even if it theoretically makes up for it in other ways#so this is incredibly subjective here and I recognize this#it is just a statement of personal preference#admittedly I need to rewatch... a lot of these seasons#I honestly think it's been nearly 10 years since I've watched some of them which is kind of insane#so take basically anything Post-Suite with a grain of salt bc I haven't rewatched it since it aired or in the past 8 years#precure

Still waiting for the raw to show up somewhere (I don’t think a simulcast has been announced for Mirai Days yet) so in the meantime, I’m gonna scream about the OP and ED sequence which has been uploaded to the Precure YT channel.
Omggggg~!!!! 😆💖
I’m SOOOOO happy they kept the original OP song! 🥹
I mean, I’m not surprised cuz it’s a pretty memorable OP even among all Precure OPs and one of the most recognizable characteristics of MahoPre to boot.
But still, to see the Part 3 of Dokkin 魔法つかいプリキュア !
With updated lyrics and lots of bright, shiny new animation but hearing that same good ol’ melody…Toei, y’all should retire the main series and just make Precure sequels for us, yea? 😂

Honestly, there’s so much going on and it’s so fast paced (therefore, it’s very gif-able 😉) that I’m just not going to spend time breaking down every part of the OP 😅
I love that there were so many call-backs to the first two OP sequences. Including paralleling the Magic World and Mundane World alongside each other, Mofurun hopping all over the title, the “roll-out” of the Form Changes, kyaa!! 😆✨
It was great to see all the supporting cast, too! Even if they might not have any big roles to play in the story (since Mirai Days only lasts one cour so most of the focus will be the Cures), I’m interested in seeing how they will contribute to the development of the the girls’ lives as adults.
Namely Mirai and Riko (yes, I’m going to keep calling her “Riko” cuz I need to differentiate her from Horizon’s “Liko” 😂) cuz though Ha-chan does seem to appear as if she’s grown up a bit in civilian form, she isn’t at the same height as her mommies and now looks even more and more like their daughter 🤣

Also, hello, Mother RaPaPa~ 🥰

Anyways, can’t get over how much fun they’re having just messing around in the OP, transforming in and out of Cure mode like a dozen times in under 2 minutes, lol
Look at our resident tsun! Riko used to be so serious and all stiff rules and whatnot but now she’s an adult and can’t stop smiling like she’s having the time of her life! And why shouldn’t she be smiling? She’s reunited with her best friend/wifey and her kids, she landed her dream job AND she gets the joy of being 14 again! 😂

Oooohh, Felice breaking out the big guns with the solid gems over the flower storms 🤩
And kyaaaa, they remembered the baby episode! Can we have another one?! Please please pleaaaaase!!! 🙏😆✨

This is going to be my anti-depressant for the next three months.
I’m not even worried about what’ll happen cuz I know dumb Toei doesn’t have the guts to separate my gurls again, so bring it! Take my tears if you need to!
No price is too much for my Maho Gurls! 🥰
#still no raw#where are youuuuu 😭#mahoutsukai precure#mirai days#cure miracle#cure magical#cure felice#mofurun

You and Idol Precure Episode 3 Review - Winking Is The Cure
Is it just me or is this episode really fast-paced? I felt like it was speed running to get to Nana transforming into Cure Wink. I find this rather unfortunate because I like blue Cures a lot and I feel as if Nana’s episode is lacking something that I can’t really grasp on…
Nana is a pianist, but it seems that she’s getting a burnout from it. I do wish this was explored a bit more. She loves playing the piano, and her relationship with her craft could easily be a growing conflict, but not being handled like that is a little unfortunate. I’d love to learn about why she got into piano, whether it be through her mother’s influence or if it was something she wanted to do and what she aspires to do with her talent later on. Despite that, I do like that her burnout is described as her being cowardly and running away in her eyes.
Nana seems to take things surprisingly well because Uta just blurts out that she’s Cure Idol as she and Purirun are horrible at keeping secrets but she believes her honestly. This is why I feel like the episode went so fast because the reveal is just “Yeah, I’m Cure Idol” and she’s like “Okay, I believe you” in just a second. I mean, Nana has no reason to think Uta would be lying to her, but the way it was handled was a little rushed. Am I having too much high expectations for a show made for little girls?
As Cure Wink, I found the transformation rather subdued compared to the bountiful energy Idol had. I get that it’s to show off her reserved personality, but I wish there was more energy to it. I loved her finisher though! While Idol’s song is more J-pop-like, Wink’s finisher song feels like a singer-songwriter’s ballad. I love that they’re all different in terms of style and it fits them well as Nana is an instrument musician while Uta is a vocalist. Also, random topic, but I love the CG of that piano. Oh, that is gorgeous.
It also seemed that Nana and Uta had met when they were younger as Uta used to take piano lessons a long time ago and they were at the same place for the same recital. The way they met again years later in the same school and are friends now feel way too fated. My yuri senses are tingling when it comes to these two. They’re honestly so cute together with how Uta wants to make Nana happy and Nana accepting Uta’s kindness.
Speaking of Uta, I did like seeing more of her character be explored here with her being someone who arrives in class just in the nick of time, which I feel like is to be expected and her being terrible at keeping secrets just seems to be a lead Cure thing nowadays. However, I do wish that she was a little more distraught when she learned Hamori had turned into the Makkuranda. That’s her baby sister; make her be a bit more angry!
For the villains, Zakkly takes the stage. It seems that each of the villains will probably have one of the Precures as their bias as Cutty seems to be liking Cure Idol. Maybe Zakkly will be a Cure Wink fan and Chokkirine will be a Cure Kyun-Kyun fan? All I know is that Zakkly feels more sinister than Cutty in that he is more eager to make a second Makkuranda, which means that such is a possibility and probably will happen in a future episode.
Nana and Cure Wink are voiced by Minami Takahashi who has voiced another blue haired girl in the past as she was in Food Wars as Megumi Tadokoro. She has a nice voice. I really like her singing voice! Hamori’s voice actress Yuko Iida was in Wonderful Precure as Ohkuma, the farm girl! It’s nice that she returned for the next season of Precure. Hopefully, she’ll get a main role later on!
I wonder how long it will take for Kyun-Kyun to make her debut. I also can’t wait to see Purirun be a menace and upload Cure Wink onto the Internet and get punished by Queen Pikarine once again—she’s totally going to do that. What are your thoughts on this episode?

Closing thoughts on Wonderful Precure!
The season I wrote off as a complete dud turned out to actually have a lot of good stuff going on.
First things first, I'm in the camp that thinks the lack of fights is an issue. The structure of having an obligatory fight per episode isn't good (though it's not much use complaining about it), but I don't think the chase scenes were good either and just felt more limp in comparison. I can only manage with them from the angle that at least they're doing something different this time, but if we must have a mandatory action scene in every episode I really wish they'll go back to proper battles with hand to hand combat elements.
Story wise the early season also felt weak and aimless when we knew so little about the plot and didn't have a single identifiable antagonist. Which did leave more space for the character stuff, but early season Iroha was an absolute bore for me and Komugi was actively annoying for most of the time, so getting through the first dozen or so episodes was quite a struggle for me. However when the cat duo started to be more relevant the season improved dramatically, and showed its true strength with the character writing.
Komugi is a character that was never going to be very appealing to me, I just can't with these pinkie pie style hyper and cutesy types. And since she's written as… shall we say more childlike than the average Cure, her inner world is less complex and a lot of time results in her scenes being very samey. In general the reasons I don't care for her are largely same as why I don't like baby mascots when I think about it.
However in Komugi's defense I have to say that it feels so absurdly fresh that she (and Yuki too for that matter) keep being written as pets. Some of my main complaints about this franchise are how the Cures' interpersonal relationships all meld into one mushy group where everyone is just besties with everyone, and the fact that the unique origins of nonhuman Cures (like mascot based or anyone from a fantasy realm) are quickly forgotten. But that was very much not the case here, Iroha and Komugi's relationship never felt like regular friends, or even sisters, and instead was distinctly recognisable as a girl and her pet. And Komugi was written consistently and was used well in several scenes, so begrudgingly I'll have to say she is a net positive for the franchise, even though I wish we won't have a Cure like her again.
Let's do Iroha next, she was less expressly annoying but also had very little to offer, like we've seen this kind of main girl in Precure so many times already. That is until the confession & date and the pet death episodes, where she was finally given something interesting to do. But outside those she was fairly generic to me.
The cat duo worked a lot better for me. Mayu started off as a pretty standard shy-and-quiet girl, but the decision to make her a shipper really made her stand out. The scenes where she is hyped for SatoIro were comedy gold, and her teasing Satoru gave her a playful side and also further exemplified that the characters have distinct relationship with each other. And they even managed to tie this into the main plot when she also started to ship the antagonists with each other!
Not suprisingly Yuki was my favourite Cure, I am so ready for a lower energy character who has this dismissive and aloof energy about her. Yet another of my common Precure complaints is that everyone is always super into whatever throwaway activity is going on in an episode, and it's so rare to have someone who genuinely isn't that interested. She has the most distinct arc out of the Cures too. And it's super funny when a serious character does something dumb so her going into cat mode in human form was always great.
Then we have Satoru who was just super wholesome, up there as the best Precure boy with Cure wing for me, though it was a little disappointing how he didn't really get to become a Cure. I'll take the moment in the finale but it's just so little. Meanwhile Daifuku… might just be my favourite character in the show, like there's more to analyse about the others but he's just so cute, never annoying, and has this excellent serious energy about him. I also really liked Mey-Mey and Niko, Mey-Mey had a fun comedic presence and a good chemistry with Satoru, and Niko's powerful and dignified deity energy made a fun combo with her somewhat self-important and chaotic side.
I want to give a shoutout to the date episode, which earns a spot in the list of the best episodes in the entire franchise. Just an overall really well directed episode where every character got to shine.
Overall this season lands in the mid tier for me, it has a lot of good stuff but also a lot that was just boring or annoying. Which is a lot better finish than I ever expected so that is worth celebrating.
