In any case, I have a silly Au for y'all to munch on.

Allow me to introduce you all to Covalent Twins :]

Covalent

Adjective

- Relating to or denoting chemical bonds formed by the sharing of electrons between atoms.

Or in this case, the sharing of Emmet between 2 Ingos from different timelines NSNDNNDDD.

This Au is essentially the answer to the question: "doesn't being sent to the distant past inherently mean you are also now long dead in the future you just left?"

The answer is yes and no btw

The explanation for this involves a lot of time nonsense that I'm very bad at explaining but the Tldr is basically this:

When Ingo gets sent to the past, this creates a connection between the past and the future. This makes time get all fucky and split into two separate timelines (Timeline A and Timeline B)

Timeline A:

Time in this timeline runs parallel to the future as long as Ingo stays within it (essentially, if Ingo stays in the past for 2 years, then 2 years pass in the present).

Due to this connection, Akari (aka Dawn) gets sent to this timeline (But not Timeline B) and the game events of PLA play out (+ a lot more Ingo bonding because uncle Ingo supremacy)

Akari manages to get her and Ingo sent back home with the power of Arceus, causing both timelines to merge back together again into one cohesive line with only the events of Timeline B being remembered by history.

Ingo and Emmet get their happy ending.

This Ingo got sent to Hisui when he was 29, stayed there for 2 years, and went home when he was 31.

And Timeline B:

This timeline was created as a cannon fodder timeline so Akari and Ingo can keep doing time shenanigans in Timeline A without disturbing the space time continuum even more.

This timeline is therefore not connected to the future the same way Timeline A is.

The Ingo of this timeline (Nicknamed "War" or "Warden" for simplicity.) lives through the PLA game events but with Rei taking the place of Akari.

War doesn't bond with him the same way Ingo does with Akari because Rei isn't a faller.

The events of the game are the exact same (minus the Arc phone, Rei taking the place of Akari, and catching Arceus).

Despite Rei calming the nobles and catching Palkia and Dialga, he is still not the chosen hero. Warden is unable to go home or regain his memories.

Warden lives in Hisui and serves as a warden for the Pearl Clan for a total of 7 years before dying alongside his partner pokemon, Gliscor (nicknamed Nimbasa), while protecting Lady Sneasler from a Zoroark attack at the age of 36.

Warden drifts as a ghost for many years, with only Nimbasa the Gliscor as company. He watches his friends grow old, and eventually die. They pass on to the afterlife, but Warden stays on earth, wandering the Alabaster Icelands and Mount Coronet, searching for people from a life he can't remember even in death.

Warden watches as Hisui changes into Sinnoh. Jubilife Village becomes Jubilife City. Pokemon species die out and new ones are born.

As the world slowly becomes more and more familiar, the great Sinnohs, Palkia and Dialga, take pity on the lost warden, and decide together to lead him home.

It may take 150 years, and many miles of travel, but Warden is pulled by an unknown force towards the Unova region. Though he is unable to touch anything or speak to anyone, it's all so painfully familiar.

He is pulled towards Nimbasa city, (ah! That's where he got the name from!) and eventually to an apartment.

There, he is greeted by a young girl, barely 17. A man in black, who looks exactly like him, give or take a few years and a few scars.

And a smiling man in white. The man he has been searching for for over 150 years...

And they're staring at him, truly staring at him, not through him.

Why is the man in white crying?

You sat in the grass of the median, between bushes of red roses the board thought would bring a classy feeling to the condominium complex. In front of you, Travis’ house was at its peak, from now on the fire would only grow a small amount before starting to die out. The second bottle of your dad’s expensive whiskey sat half-empty on your side.

In the distance, you heard the sound of a siren. How the firefighters hadn’t already arrived was beyond you, but the police were apparently on their way.

Rather surprisingly, it was only one car, and from it, you heard only one person exiting. Was your hard work really not worth a bit more? Your broken heart deserved more than one pathetic cop.

“Good night!” someone approached you, “Was it you who reported the fire? I was informed the house was empty and am here to make sure it stays that way until the firefighters arrive.”

“Everybody knows I'm a good girl, officer,” you comment immediately. You could sense her moving around you slowly, taking you in. You were drunk and wanted attention. If a police officer was all you got, you would play your cards accordingly.

“So, it was you?” upon your silence, she gave up on waiting for your response, “Have you seen any strangers in the street lately? Someone lurking or acting weird?” her voice was soft and soothing. You thought, rather unprompted, that it would be incredible to hear her whisper in your ear.

“No, this is quite a peaceful place to live, no one acting strange,” you said, gazing fascinatedly at the flames swirling up in the sky, creating beautiful and menacing figures. He deserved it, he set a fire in your heart only to discard you so now you would watch his house go down in flames just as well.

“Alright…” her tone changed. She sounded careful, almost fearful, you couldn’t help the thrill it sparkled in your chest, like a delicious pain of pride. “And would say you are involved, do you think?” did she think you didn’t know what you were doing?

“No, I wouldn't do a thing like that, that's for sure.” You gave her your sweetest voice, getting up to see her for the first time. She was much taller than you, her eyes bright pools of blue reflecting the flames behind you. “The house was already on fire; I swear I'm not a liar.” You knew your smile gave you away, but you didn’t care if it meant going anywhere with her. God, she was hot.

“Right,” she was sceptical, but decided to entertain you, “And are you ok?”

“Well, I'm a little shaken, but I'm fine, thanks for asking.” You gave her a bashful smile, biting your lip and surveying her up and down. “Tell me, do you always work alone so late, officer?” the word sent shivers through your spine. Her taken-aback expression was the cutest thing on earth, and you wondered if she would be so shy in another setting.

“Gosh, I'm a little shy standing here in my nightgown​.” You tried to hint at your transparent clothing, she seemed to inspect you carefully for the first time and swallow a comment.

“That won’t be a problem, miss, we’ll give you things to wear. Please come with me.” She said and, out of nowhere, you saw her produce a pair of handcuffs. Did she distract you all this time? Huh, point to you.

“Do you really have to put those tight handcuffs on?” you asked as she made you turn around with strong hands on your upper arms. You looked over your shoulder at her and she made direct eye contact with you.

“I’m afraid I do.” And with a click, she swirled you around and you were looking at each other again.

Looking at me, then suddenly;

She was so breathtakingly attractive. It felt like a hurricane in your stomach every time your eyes met hers. Her strong grip on your arm carried you to the back of her car and you were swimming in lust.

“Will you join me here?” you said as she forced you down in the seat, “You can ask me anything you want, anything, anything, I’ll tell you all you want to know.”

She eyed you with some suspicion but slid to the seat at your side. You didn’t move too much to give her space, and your thighs were pressed together.

“I’ll ask you some questions but we’ll have to go through a formal interview at the station.” She said, getting a small recording device from her breast pocket.

“Uhum, that’s fine.” You agreed, leaning your head closer to her. “Tell me, officer, do you have a girl? I don't see a ring on your finger.”

“I’m not…” she started, then looking at you she stopped. Was she considering your flirting? She was definitely checking you out, you could tell.

Again, she swallowed, but you were close enough now to listen to the motion. You wanted to lick her neck.

“You’re not?” you prompted in a husk.

“I’ve never had any girls…” she was flustered. Was she a horrible cop or was this just your lucky night?

“Well that's interesting, have you ever thought of dating one?”

Outside, the flames were getting higher, and with them your desire to ravish the well-put-together, adorably shy woman beside you.

“It's kind of exciting, don't you think?” you whispered, boldly getting onto her lap in a straddle.

Then suddenly she pushed you onto the seat and left the back of the car, closing the door loudly.

When she started the car, you saw the firefighters arriving through the window. Well, there went one of your entertainments for the night.

She didn’t say anything else on the way to the station, didn’t look at you from the rear-view mirror. Paid no attention to your flirting.

When you were walking out the next morning, you saw the officer from the previous night. She was leaning on the front counter with a few papers, no one seemed to be paying attention, so you approached her.

“Did you think about my proposal?” you whispered close to her, and she jumped. She only looked at you, confused. “C’mon, I’ve been bad, but I swear what they say it’s true… I can be a very good girl.”

She was silent for a while, and you thought she would tell you off when she tore a corner of one of her papers which already contained her number.

Another point for you, you thought, leaving with a spring in your step.

Day 19

SEELE!Rei AU notes I wrote on the bus

If you've seen this account's post, you're probably aware of the SEELE!Rei AU that's been circulating in my brain. To those who are curious and like the concept, here are some tidbits and notes I've made about it under the read more !!! BRIEF EXPLANATION: This is an AU idea of what if Rei was raised by SEELE alongside Kaworu instead of by Gendo/NERV?

Having Rei and Kaworu as siblings would be pretty good for the both of them. Rei would have someone to relate to and be comfortable around. Kaworu would experience similar stuff too, and wouldn't be exclusively Shinji-centric, making them have a possibly healthier dynamic/relationship. Rei could also be a tad more self-expressive, since being raised by SEELE would rid her of all the conditioning* and restrictions* (by Gendo, at least) she went through in nge canon. That doesn't rid them of all their problems, though. As we know SEELE has a dummy system as well, meaning Rei would still view herself as expendable and question her identity and self (possibly even more, with now having much more information to go off of to analyze.) Poor Rei'll have to deal with another organization's instrumentality planning deal again :( Kaworu would still have to choose between Lilin and the Angels. He is still a (unnatural) progeny of Adam, after all. I don't think he would suffer any less dread and anxiety from that in this AU. Having Rei around would probably lean him more towards his decision of saving the Lilin, though. What fun to constantly have to battle your nature of returning to your angelmom/soul's body, amiright? Yeah. Having Rei in the custody of SEELE makes me think that it would be best that she wasn't a Yui clone. No more weird ulterior Yui motives!! That would pose the question of how did they come to exist then? Since the Katsuragi crew were the ones to be near Adam in Antarctica, what if another division was with Lilith a year or so later? This time they made another contact experiment with a vessel they manufactured specifically for this one. Just so happens that the one to be in charge of the design and name was our old pal Gendo... Bro can't let go of his dead wife obsession even in this AU :/ Yui's still totally dead btw. Right after Rei's "birth" too! She was still batshit insane and put her soul in Eva unit-01, but at least now Rei wasn't anywhere near NERV/GEHIRN. Rei gets unrestricted internet access. They share a room with their "twin" and have a cheap, creaky, bunk bed until they're 8, when both of them decide to split the room in half and bicker when Kaworu finds Rei's trash on his side of the room. This doesn't last too long, though, since when they turn 12, Rei gets sent for training at NERV, while Kaworu's goes two years later. ^^^^ I think about this moment a lot in the AU. Gendo basically just takes Rei to go pilot the Eva just because they look similar to Yui and had to leave her twin brother alone to deal with SEELE bullshit without anyone else to really talk to about it for 2 years.

Rei's design differs when not in school, having a light blue long skirt and a simple dress shirt with her school uniform's red ribbon. They also sport some bandaids, even before piloting! Mainly from clumsiness and accidents back when she was a small kid.

Kaworu's design is virtually the same, save for his orange belt, his black shoes with orange bottoms, and bandages on his arms. Having already been with SEELE in nge canon, I didn't want his design to differ too much.

So far that's all I've written down for now, but if I ever get close to done with this AU and have made it even slightly comprehensive then I'll probably post a huge lore-post about it. Thank you for reading !! :D

Hello, hi!

I'm writing this from my phone because I'm in Terengganu right now for many many reasons.

Gonna recap my headache on Tuesday. I was betrayed by my own beloved PeriPera when they sent me the wrong product (a cheaper product than what I paid for) and they wouldn't reply to my message (a trait I learnt was common for their customer service, I cry 😭) so I just hit return.

Honestly I was mostly concerned when I'd get my money back but the delivery dude came by the next day to take the package back and I got it back right away (everybody thank god).

I went to Genting on Wednesday? Yeah I have bad memory. Truly I did not desire to be up there, it wasn't even that cold. I went to GPO for two boring hours and then went further up to Genting proper to be bored even more. When I was coming down I noticed the gangster cars coming up....My friend says they do business up there...what kinda business?

Thursday night I had a headache finishing up Phonetics because my lecturer is a menace when she marks so I felt like I had to keep adding and adding to the explanation. I still have a headache thinking about it.

AND NOW I'M IN TERENGGANU!!!

I'm being fed well at least but I can't do any work here, it's really inconvenient 😭😭😭 Seriously, I feel like I'm behind on work.

endeavor is an unreliable narrator too, because his character writing is inconsistent. but well i saw him reflects his shits and genuinely trying to fix his family in the way that it will not benefit him while i saw dabi’s bitching about being more of a victim, being superior to another victim who’s his brother shouto, in addition he’s also a bastard terrorist, homicide and also had sent a villain after his brother natsuo. who do you think i would incline to? fuyumi? well even fuyumi wants to stop dabi and mend her family.

honestly, you talk like my father who once told me “nurture is the job of one person, not two”. and wow that shit reminds me a lot of endeavor/rei vs my parents.

when i said rei and enji didn’t know how to be good parents, i mean every single word of it. who the fuck agreed to bear children in regard of a selfish, risky contract can be considered as good parents, both or either the father and the mother? now, it’s not that i disregard Rei’s situation. it is because Rei said it herself that she made choice of her own accord aka into this marriage (or you want to say she’s another unreliable narrator too?) that i’m holding her to her words. understand what that means? it means in this situation regarding touya, i put rei and enji in the same position as parents of four kids first and foremost, then abuser and abused shall go after. 

i despite the most the kind of parents who either think their kids as insurance or think they can have kids for whatever selfish reason without even preparing themselves some parental knowledge. what do you think raising children is? like raising dog or pet or like a picnic day? like a simple contract witnessed by law? like the result of a quirk marriage without even consulting a doctor before that?

alright, it’s clear that rei did better job than enji in being a parent (in that 13 years), but she wasn’t perfect. if she’s perfect, she would have know words to assuage touya. if she’s perfect, she wouldn’t agree to a quirk marriage. if she’s perfect, touya wouldn’t be such a brat who dared to insult his mother. there, rei wasn’t perfect, she didn’t prepare herself enough when stepped in a risky contract like that, a contract that involves lives of innocent children. that’s why i said rei and enji were tweedledum and tweedledee the moment they agreed to this marriage, and that moment started every fucking thing.

parental, you hear that, PARENTAL.

not being a good parent doesn’t automatically make you an abuser.

of course, ignore that detail all you want, i don’t. that thing adds more layer to rei’s characterization, i just address it and say nothing disregard her abuse situation or endeavor’s shits. rei is a good-written character, albeit not much writing was made about her.

and yeah i doubt everyone until proven innocent, i just don’t shout it to others’ face. human is nuance, if you just bluntly believe or hate someone without thinking sevenfold carefully, or without some solid evidence, you will eventually hurt yourself and someone else.

Rey is being brought to America to marry a rich man. (I posted about this one a few weeks ago but it deserves to be posted again. It’s not strictly a movie rewrite, but it does follow a similar Jack/Rose dynamic. This is in my top 10 favorite fics)🦋

The Scales of Judgement Rated E/ 11 chapters, 55k words/ WW2/ Rey, assistant to famed archeologist Han Solo, finds herself a little in over her head when, while on a dig in Egypt, the war spreads south and brings with it a specialized group of German soldiers who happen to be looking for the same thing as her crew. (Guys. It’s an Indiana Jones AU. I need more of those in my life. Or just archeologist AUs in general)

what if the storm ends Rated E/ 12 chapters, 62k words/ Post-WW2/ During the war, Rey was sent to live with the Solos out in the countryside. After the fighting was over, she became an author in London and wrote about her adventures there, but a tragedy brings her back to the farm. (This is tied for my number one favorite fic. Just a warning tho, and this also in the tags, but the tragedy is that Ben’s wife died. So like he was in a happy marriage before. She’s mentioned a few times. This is 90% angst but it hurts SO GOOD)🦋

Patch Rated M/ 15 chapters, 21k words/ 80’s/ When 19 year old figure skater Ben first meets Rey, she needs some work but it seems like she’s the best option, out of the few he has, for a new partner. Can they make it? (honestly this intro makes it sound dumb but I promise it’s not. Also it’s like Olympic level competitive skating in 80’s Russia. I know literally nothing about skating so I was a little lost but I still enjoyed it lol)

Though There’ll Be Rain and Darkness Too Rated M/ 13 chapters, 37k words/ WW2/ Rey meets Ben, an American Air Force pilot stationed at the nearby base in a little town outside of London (I literally finished this a half hour before making this post. Read it in one day lol)🦋

The Lost Princess Rated M/ 22 chapters, 22k words/ 20’s/ When Rey is found on the streets of London, she doesn’t remember anything but her name. A hypnotist, Dr. Snoke, helps her to regain her memories. Months later, she announces to the public that she is actually Anastasia Romanov. (This is NOT based off the 1997 animated movie ‘Anastasia’ or it’s corresponding musical. However, if anyone is aware of such a fic, PLEASE send it my way cause that movie is one of my favorites)

One for Hoping Rated M/ 6 chapters, 17k words/ WW2*/ After receiving a crippling injury during the war, soldier Ben Solo was treated in a hospital by a nurse. Now the war is over and he’s come back to that same hospital to look for her. (*this isn’t actually based on any specific war, but it personally gave me WW2 vibes. I should mention a possible TW: Ben’s injury causes him to lose one of his limbs. This is one of my comfort fics btw)🦋

The MHA Credits Broke Me (Spoiler Free Ramblings, I apologize for nothing)

This started as a funny "haha how weird, why is it like that?" observation and then I ended up in a weird rabbit hole of scouring episode credits and pouring over wiki articles. Never say I don't do my research...

To start simply, I was watching some previous episodes and noticed something REALLY weird going on with the way the English voice actors are credited as their characters

The Japanese actors are credited using the characters' FULL NAME or alias/hero name

Season 4 Episode 25

Meanwhile, in English...

What the heck? If you don't see the problem, I'll tell you. It's inconsistency. We have a few characters credited using aliases (Pro Heroes, but also villains), while most students are credited using their surnames. That's fine, that makes sense, but why are SOME students credited with their given names!? (Izuku, Katsuki, Tenya, Mirio, Ochaco, Tsuyu).

My first guess was that characters are credited by the names we'd recognize the easiest (i.e. Present Mic rather than Yamada, since that's what everyone calls him, or Mirio rather than Togata since Nighteye always called him Mirio) but Bakugo is basically NEVER called Katsuki by anyone besides his parents.

My second guess was that it depended on if a character had a family member in the show (there would be multiple characters with the same surname and as such you would need to specify them). This seemed to work because EVERYONE credited under a given name has a relative we have met, whether they were named in the anime or not: Izuku (mom), Katsuki (parents), Tenya (mom and brother appear, father and grandfather are mentioned), Mirio (father), Ochaco (parents), Tsuyu (parents and siblings in an OVA, sister is mentioned in the series proper).

But this falls apart when you remember we have also met Jiro's parents (and heard them speak!), and yet she is still credited with her surname.

Probably the worst offender is this though...

Ahh yes, the one true Todoroki. Season 4 Episode 25

In this case, I absolutely understand Rei, Natsuo, and Fuyumi being credited by their given names. They can't ALL be credited as "Todoroki". But it's weird that ONE of them IS.

You could argue that Shoto is more important and therefore deserves to use the surname, but then why are Izuku and Katsuki credited with their given names?!

My third guess was that the "given name" characters are characters who were important/introduced early in Season 1, but even that falls apart when you remember that Mineta was just as relevant as Tsuyu, yet they are credited differently. Also, what makes Mirio so special that he gets to use his given name?

I was curious to see how characters were credited if they weren't named in the episodes but we learned their name later.

I started by checking how Rei was credited in Season 2, Episode 10

Interesting! And it makes a lot of sense, this episode came out in June 2017, the chapter where we learn Rei's name (chapter 187) came out in June 2018.

I was also curious about Fuyumi because I was pretty sure we didn't learn her name in Season 2, Episode 12 (the first episode where she speaks). I was right, btw, she remains nameless, but here's how she was credited...

So this sent me down a rabbit hole to figure out where/when Fuyumi's name was revealed.

I'll spare you all the details, but long story short I THINK her name was first revealed in the Ultra Archive databook published in 2016 (a whole year before this episode). I believe her name is first said in the series in chapter 187 alongside her mom and brother, but if it was mentioned in the manga before this and I simply missed it, whoops! Please let me know

Out of curiosity, and also for a reference point regarding crediting unnamed characters, I went to Season 2 Episode 24, where we first hear Dabi and Toga speak but do NOT learn their names (both reveal it in the next episode) and...

Ok, so based on all this it seems like if we know the names from outside sources (in the villains' case: the manga. In Fuyumi's case: the guidebook), the characters WILL be credited by a name (alias or otherwise), even if their names aren't revealed in the show yet. Good to know.

Easy, right?

AND YET every other parent who ISN'T Rei is credited like this...

Why is PONY of all people credited like this? How does this make sense? What is the logic? Who made these decisions?

Now, to their credit, they seemed to realize this didn't make sense because, in Season 3 Episode 3, she's credited with her surname

But if they're willing to change that, why is Todoroki still credited with his family name when he's arguably the one main character who SHOULD use his given name???

Bonus: Surnames vs. Given names

If anyone wants to come at me like "umm how do you know those are their given/surnames? Doesn't Japan order names differently than the West? What if YOU mixed it up? What if Todoroki actually IS his GIVEN name?" I'm so glad you asked, hypothetical reader. I've actually seen a few people on here confuse which name is which! I'll stick the explanation under a cut though, since this post is getting long enough

Yes, Japan (and many Asian countries) put the surname before the given name. And YES, people in Japan generally call each other by their surnames (given names are usually reserved for family, close friends, etc.)

So how do I know which names in MHA are surnames and which are given names? How do I know with 100% certainty that the subs/dub didn't use western convention and switch the order and call EVERYONE by their given names?

Well... they actually DID switch the order. And I can prove it.

I reached the 10 image limit so I had to edit these subtitles together, but they come from Season 3 Episode 7 and Season 5 Episode 2 respectively.

We know Shoto and Endeavor are father and son, which means they share a surname. As we can see here, Dabi (speaking both times so we know he's being consistent) says their unique given names FIRST (Shoto and Enji) and their shared surname LAST (Todoroki).

What's also cool though is if you listen to the Japanese audio while reading the English subtitles, you can hear that they actually swapped the order of the names. In Japanese, Dabi says "Todoroki Shoto" and "Todoroki Enji" but the SUBTITLES still put the names in the western order.

You can also witness this swap every time the Japanese audio says a name, because the English subtitles ALWAYS switch the order. I just wanted to use the Todoroki example because it concerns two characters who we KNOW share a surname, meaning finding the surname is a lot more clear.

From the Todoroki reference point, you can figure out the given and surnames of all the characters (they always say it in the western order, regardless of subs vs. dub) and from there, you can figure out which one other characters are using (for example: most characters call others by their surnames, but Toga always uses given names like Izuku, Ochaco, Tomura, Jin, etc.)

hi author-chan! how're you doing? ik this is random, but i was rereading the previous whd chapters (bc they are GOLDEN) i'm curious... in whd, what were the todoroki children (including touya, before touya's death and before izumi and rei were sent away) + rei's coping strategies for endeavor's abuse and toxicity? btw speaking of the previous chapters, your writing style was already great back then, but as i'm rereading, i can see the gradual shift in the atmosphere of the story, and i can see changes in your writing style itself!!! tbh, i envy your ability to produce such amazing work in such a short amount of time while juggling and keeping balance between other parts of your life as well >:( but really, good job!!! <3

I think a lot of it was about escapism. Because they were stuck in the situation that they were in, the Todoroki childern looked for other ways to escape their realitz. Izumi's love for manga began as a coping method, she could read them and pretend like she was one of the heroes in the story, someone who never gave up, who always climbed back to their feet after suffering losses. Natsuo, in a similar way, looked for a physical escape--clubs, friends, going on trips. Fuyumi, who had the responsibilty of caring for everyone, likely threw herself into her studies, simply because that was the permenant escape (get a good job, make money, live somewhere else as a last resort tactic), but she could never really let go of her family. Touya likely didn't really have a real coping method because his plan was always to get stronger and thereby solve the family's issues by showing Endeavor he could be the hero Endeavor wanted. Rei was also dedicated to protecting Shouto, so she couldn't protect herself against Endeavor, but I think during the moments that Endeavor wasn't here, she likely looked to her childern for some kind of hope.

“Ben Solo Deserved to Die Because...”

“...he killed his father.”

Yes, and look at what that act did to him. As Snoke says in TLJ, killing Han “split your spirit to the bone.” It physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually weakened Kylo. It made him even more unstable then he already was. It didn’t cement him to the Dark Side as he had hoped it would. It only tore him more apart. And he knows it. He knows he was wrong to kill Han. In TLJ when talking through the force bond, Rey calls him a monster. What’s his response? “Yes, I am.” Without sarcasm. He means it. He knows he’s a monster. 

And you can’t tell me that after watching that scene with Ben and Han in TROS that he does not regret that act more than anything. The way he looks at Han. The way he calls him Dad. He’s about to try and apologize. You can see it in his eyes. And Han forgives him! Now before you say that Han is just a memory (”so of course he’d imagine Han forgiving him!”), Han would forgive him and you know it! Even in TFA after Kylo stabbed him, you can see it in Han’s face. He’s not angry. He still reaches out to try and touch his son’s face. 

Has any other movie villain shown this negative a reaction to taking a life? Vader sure doesn’t. He kills Obi-Wan (who btw, is the closest thing Anakin Skywalker had to a father. He said so in AoC) and just walks away. He isn’t weakened nor does he ever show any remorse for doing so. 

“...he killed billions of people.”

Actually, he didn’t. In the TFA novelization, it’s revealed that Kylo had nothing (and wanted nothing) to do with Star Killer Base. He didn’t design the weapon or oversee it’s construction. His only association with it was that he was stationed there on Snoke’s orders. Snoke and Hux were the ones responsible. Kylo even tried to stop them from using it. You know that part in the movie when Snoke gives Hux the order to fire the weapon and Kylo says “I can still get what we need from the girl”? That wasn’t a “And I can still get what we need from the girl. Go ahead and fire!” It was a “But I can still get what we need from the girl! We don’t have to do this!” Kylo Ren did not fire the weapon that destroyed those planets, nor did he even what it fired. Kylo Ren may have done some bad things, but murdering billions is not one of them. Funny how he’s the one who’s hated for that even though Hux who is responsible is still loved.

“...he ordered the deaths of the villagers on Jakku!” 

True. He did, but like with Han, I believe it is an act that he didn’t entirely enjoy or feel comfortable with. Why else would he let Finn go when he clearly felt that Finn hadn’t fired his weapon as ordered? He could have had Finn shot for disobeying a direct order then and there, but he never said a word about it, letting Finn go.

“...he murdered Luke’s other students!”

Like with Star Killer Base, this is not true. In the comics released shortly before the movie, it’s revealed that the other students believe Ben had killed Luke. They followed him and attacked him, forcing him to fight them. It wasn’t murder. It was self-defense.

“...he tortured Poe and Rey!”

He mind probed them for information. That is not the same thing as physical torture (and Rey mind probed him right back!). Poe may have been tortured by the Stormtroopers to try and get information out of him, but Kylo himself never laid a finger on him. And as others have said time and time again, they were enemies on opposite sides of a war! Torture is, unfortunately, a part of that. And Vader tortured Han and Leia in Empire, remember? Not for information, but simply to get Luke to Bespan. “They didn’t even ask me any questions,” Han says. Also you can’t tell me that the Rebellion in OT and the Resistance in ST never tortured anyone for information.

“...he only killed Snoke because he wanted to become Supreme Leader!”

False. He killed Snoke because Snoke was hurting Rey and wanted him (Kylo) to kill her. He was protecting her. The thought of taking Snoke’s place as Supreme Leader didn’t happen until after Snoke was already dead. This has been confirmed by not only the TLJ novelization but by Rian Johnson and Adam Driver.

“...he lied to Hux and told him Rey had killed Snoke.”

Yeah, what else was he supposed to do? If he told the truth the entire FO would have turned on him and while he might be powerful, he certainly wouldn’t have been able to take on the entire FO by himself. It was a survival tactic. Nothing more.

“...he wanted to kill Luke.”

Of course he did! He believed Luke had tried to kill him. Can you blame him for wanting Luke dead? As for as he knew, Luke had betrayed him first. 

“...he’s just another white boy villain/Vader wannabe.”

He is so much more than that. In the TFA novelization, it’s revealed that Snoke had been speaking into Ben Solo’s mind since infancy. INFANCY! Just try and image that. What’s more helpless and defenseless than a baby? Poor baby Ben was being manipulated before he could even talk! And Leia knew it was happening. Which is why she was afraid he’d turn to the Dark Side and sent him to train with Luke. It’s a wonder he retained any sanity at all let alone managed to go 16 years before giving into the Dark Side (which we know he never completely did). Personally, I think Luke’s attempt to kill him is what pushed him over the edge. Imagine everyone you love expecting you to turn out bad. That’s what Ben went through! Other novels and comics also show how Snoke not only manipulated young Ben Solo, but also physical abused him.

 Kylo Ren was not just some one sided villain, but a complex, emotionally damaged, 3D character. He was a victim of abuse, who, after years from struggle, finally managed to find his way back to the light.

Regarding that stuff with caleb, it's not as simple as him insulting a fan translator. The fan in question is the one who does the summaries of the leaks, and they're an endeavor stan. For months the endeavor stans on twitter have spread the idea that caleb is biased against endeavor (bc he's made it clear that he doesn't like the character very much on his twitter) and is letting that bias show in his translations, so the fans have been nitpicking his work to prove that point.

The fan translator has been doing comparisons between the original japanese and the official translations every week, but usually the differences were more due to localisation than actual translation mistakes. Either way, some other fans have used those comparisons as ammo to prove that caleb is a bad translator or that he's biased.

Some weeks ago some other account posted a translation mistake in vol 26. It was that scene where shouto tells endeavor that he's using him to become a better hero bc he's the number one. He sounded way more harsh than in the weekly release (and caleb is in charge of both) so people doubled down on their claims that caleb was pushing an anti-endeavor agenda. Caleb made a statement that he doesn't have the final say in what is published and that his work goes through a lot of people before getting published (and was backed up by other professional translators), so he CAN'T push and agenda like that. But people started to harrash him and demand that he was fired.

He went private after that and these lasts three weeks, since the chapters have been focussed on the todorokis, things have gotten even worse bc people were extra nitpicky and claiming that he made endeavor worse than in the original.

The fan translator... Didn't make things any better tbh bc she's an endeavor stan, amd her comparisons between japanese and the official translation has been more focussed on the changes done to endeavor. She could have worded them a little bit better bc her tweets always ended up sounding like she was saying the official translations were wrong.

This past chapter she pointed out that endeavor doesn't use "damm it" in the original when he talks with rei and touya... Some other professional translator pointed out that it was obvious nitpicking bc endeavor didn't cuss in japanese but he was screaming, looking threatening and using not so-polite-japanese.

What called said was in response to what that other professional said, and it may be too much but she (the fan translator) is one of the many people that have been giving ammo to the fandom to harass caleb, and she has quite a big following. She hasn't done much to stop the harassment campaign aside from saying "but this doesn't mean the official translations are wrong, support them" at the end of her threats and it seems like she's even liked some comments against caleb in the past??

Either way things went too far and endeavor stans and friends of the fan translator have been saying that caleb should be fired for being unprofessional (he said that behind a locked account and didn't even @ that fan translator btw), and some others have even tried to find prove that he's done some other bad shit to use it and get him fired. Some other account even accused him of being sexist and racist???

Things went too far and he decided to leave twitter.

This is way too long and my english isn't all that good, sorry 😓, and i can't fault you if you don't read all this hahaha but since people are spreading only the screenshot of him insulting that fan (which again isn't good at all) without the full context to make caleb the only bad guy here when he's been harassed for weeks just bc of a fictional character

Sucks a lot this has happened, as I did enjoy Caleb's trivia every week since he pointed out things I'd never have noticed before. It's shitty that people thought he was pushing some anti Endeavor agenda when he's just translating the tone and way Endeavor interacts with people. Dammit I believe would make sense in a context if a character is speaking roughly in a way that cannot be contextualised in English, because it makes us understand how rude he's being to his wife

TROS - What did I even watch? Or how I lived to see the day Disney murdered a prince, left Cinderella alone in the desert, and hoped for the world to rejoice because it was “fun”?

Dear friends, I’ve been here for the spoilers and I’ve even talked with some of you. I went to watch the movie today, with 0 hope of anything except of seeing my baby Ben Solo and Adam’s fenomenal acting (and listening to some good John Williams). 

I knew it would be horrible, but as @nevernerdenoughblog said seeing it makes it even more. Like @clairen45 it felt so wrong. Should I rejoice with a Reylo kiss that Rey gave but seconds later didn’t even cry over Ben’s dead body? I refuse to acknowledge this characterization of Rey. She was the only one that ever believed in Ben Solo, she shipped herself to make him know he was loved and wanted and to help him. Where was this Rey in this movie?

I am sorry guys (especially for the tagging) but I need to write this out or it will eat me and you guys are the few ones that relate to my pain. You know what really hurt me the most in all this? Toxic masculinity disguised as feminism.

1) FAREWELL HEROINE’S JOURNEY

They trashed the Heroine’s Journey. They murdered it and spit in its face. JJ Abrams simply decided that the Heroine’s Journey (done in act 1/ep. VII and act 2/ep. VIII) was not cutting anymore and decided to send Rey on a Hero’s Journey (ep. IX only, new 1st, 2nd and 3rd act altogether), where she has become this almost toxic masculine fighter under Leia’s training  — Badass girl? Yes. Full of anger? Yes. Logical? Yes. Connected to anything? No, not even herself, she kept on the run, afraid. In search of the Jedi detachment? Yes. —, only to send her happilly off to a desert planet in the end of her journey and finishing with her alone talking with an old lady.

Which remind us of the start of TFA, meaning she has comeback to what? Luke didn’t even comeback to that “home” in Tatooine the end of his Hero’s Journey? So she went to a place of death to what? This is a slap on the face of the Heroine’s Journey. This is how toxic masculinity corrupts and interrupts the most uncomfortable (to psychologically unhealthy bystanders) and fundamental (to the woman herself) phase of Heroine’s Journey: You want love, family, a partnership, connection, nurturing or progeny? That is weak, it is foolish. You need to fight, to conquer, to take, take and take. Otherwise you won’t be strong or independent.

I AM CRYING! WHY? WHY? WHY? Daisy, are you really seriously satisfied with this ending? Because REY DESERVED BETTER. 

BTW, BEN SOLO DESERVED BETTER! The true feminist of this story DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER! ADAM DRIVER DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER! He always respect the director’s view, does his best to accomplish it and brings his best acting to the table. The only saving grace in the whole movie to me was Ben’s arc because 1) Adam was doing it and 2) He honored his character. Man he deserved so much better!!!!!

I’m not even going to repeat what everyone already said about where is George Lucas’ Fairytale Story, because you guys said it all. But I have a beef with Disney executive decisions:

2) WALT DISNEY - HOW I WISH WALT WAS ALIVE

Walt Disney. Much have been criticized concerning his choices to make HEA in fairytales. But what now? We find balance by wanting our children to grow up to be cynic and seeing the feminine as weak? Unhelpful? Bad? 

“Yo independent women! You need no prince even if you have one. He can compassionately and selfelessly die to save you because he loves you and you can go off, happily, to celebrate with your friends! You don’t mourn his body, oh no. You don’t tell him you love him. You forget him. You go be that cool lonely warrior.”

Excuse me but I can kick ass and have the romantic love life and children I want! I can have both! Because I am a human being and I deserve it. This is not a matter of being a men or women. This is a matter of balancing the feminine and masculine within.

But that is not just it. BEN SOLO DESERVED BETTER! WALT WOULD NEVER, EVER LET A CHARACTER THAT WENT THROUGH ABUSE AND SO MUCH PAIN DIE THE WAY BEN SOLO DID! Is that a Disney movie??????? I mean, what did I just watch????

Walt Disney, the man who promised P.L. Travers, upon knowing who Mr. Banks was to her (her deceased alcoholic father) and what Mary Poppins, her work, meant to her, said:

“George Banks and all he stands for will be saved. Maybe not in life, but in imagination. Because that is what we storytellers do. We restore order with imagination. We instill hope again and again and again.”

THAT IS WHAT STORYTELLERS DO! Like so many fanfic writers in this fandom @nite0wl29, @stargazer1116, @intp-slytherin97, @eleanor-writes-stuff, @postedbygaslight, @raven-maiden, and so many others!! Btw, thank you all!! My vacation starts tomorrow and I’m going to read again all your amazing fics to regain exactly that: HOPE!

What was TROS? Leia and Luke believing in the good in Rey? The whole Jedi Order believing in her? I have nothing against that but why didn’t they believe or help Ben too? Ben didn’t receive any of that love, WHY? What was wrong with him? What did he do?! He was the most selfless of souls, just like his Father and Grandmother. Is this vicntim blaming??? WHY DISNEY, LUCAS FILM and JJ ABRAMS, WHY?!

I used to think people were wrong when they said Disney was only doing SW for money. Because Walt Disney also said and lived by this rule:

“The important thing is the family. If you can keep the family together — and that’s the backbone of our whole business, catering to families — that is what we hope to do.”

SW is about family and I refuse to accept ep. IX as SW. It has all the make up of SW, but it lacks the heart and very essence of it.

As dear @eleanor-writes-stuff said, so much for criticizing Rian Johnson, only to consagrate his work. That man honored the storytelling art and I’ll be forever grateful to him for his touch in SW and for how his writing touched and changed my life. And I know Waltz would have approved too because he also said:

“I prefer to entertain people in the hope that they learn, rather than teach people in the hope they are entertained.”

3) PLOT? WHAT PLOT?

Leia’s feelings for Ben have remained ambiguous, you can both read her as someone who wants her baby boy dead (because her death allows Rey to stab Ben to death if she wants to, when Ben was never going to harm Rey) or not. Actions speak louder than words, and this was the movie when Leia would have the chance to assume the responsability for her mistakes and take action, instead of only claiming she believed her son was alive.

If she clearly wanted to reach Ben, was Maz’s words needed? No, they weren’t. It was exactly because Maz needed to voice it that proved Leia’s actions could be read as ambiguous. Again, actions speak louder than words. Her body only disappeared after Ben’s did too because what? She was expecting him to die so she could collect his soul?

I dearly love Leia’s character but LEIA DESERVED BETTER! CARRIE DESERVED BETTER! In the end I’m not sure what to make of the ST Leia. She could have helped Ben but clearly sent him away to Luke because? What?

Ben Solo get his redemption from his own 2 hands + his father’s memory (not force ghost) + Rey’s confession. In the end he becomes the bride of the monster, only to die right after, in a what? Plot twist?

Finn, who? That was so messed up! Rose? Poor Rose!!! Hux? Oh Hux deserved better too. I was glad to see that Poe matured though and grew in his arc.

I’m also mad and confused about other plot points:

Ben throws his bleeded kyber krystal away because of his father. Okay. Why did no one help him when he cried on the Force to crack his kyber and soul, but Luke Force Ghost appears to catch Rey throwing a lightsaber in an on fire tie fighter?

Rey would turn to the Dark side if she killed Palpatine, right? 5 minutes later she won’t turn to the Dark Side anymore even if she still kills him in anger? Just because the self righteous jedi chose to let Ben get thrown down the abysm by himself but Rey was the Chosen One?

Still on this topic, so she choses to give up her soul so Palpatine uses her body as the vessel of his soul and the legion of siths, in order to save her friends, but she won’t take Ben Solo’s hand, even if she claims she wants to + retaining her body, to do the same?

I think force bonds don’t make much of a difference anymore when one of the parts dies. Ben can die and Rey seems pretty okay?

INTERESTING FACT: Beside me there was a father with his 6 or 7 year old son. The child kept asking what was going on everytime the movie introduced any plot twists or too much information too quickly. When the Reylo kiss came on screen, you know what the kid said? “I told ya!” I wanted to cry when seconds later the boy was claiming now was Rey’s turn to bring Ben back. Children understand the Heroine’s Journey and it doesn’t scare them. It is beautiful like that. The father then had to try and explain to the boy that other things were going on and that no, “that guy was gone”. What have you done people?

4) EPISODE X

I must have a clown face. They lied to us about this movie being “The Rise of Skywalker”. Maybe they lied to us about this being the end of the saga? Considering JJ claims this is fun, happy and hopeful, yeah, I doubt they are making an episode X or ressurecting Ben Solo after throwing in the garbage the Heroine’s Journey. I vaguely remember Adam also said he wasn’t going to appear in another SW.

IF they do announce an ep. X, I’m not watching it unless Ryan or someone like him directs the movie.

I loved to see Han Solo’s memory helping his son. That man trully loved him and it is tragic that he screwed up as a father only because he thought he wasn’t enough to be a good one and that Leia and Luke would know better.

I also loved to see Ben Solo as his father son and grandchild to his grandmother and great grandmother. He was beautiful and I love him and he’ll be forever with me.

I liked the Reylo kiss... but Rey’s actions in this movie have affected me so that it doesn’t feel like they scrapped the surface of making justice to this that could have been the happiest and most balanced of all SW couples.

IT COULD HAVE BEEN EPIC. IT COULD HAVE BEEN GRAND. But it wasn’t.

I’ll forget TROS. YBTOTT is now canon to me, because it is a perfect 3rd act in this trilogy, and @postedbygaslight honors the Heroine’s Journey like few writers have the gut and courage to do. Thank you so much Wayne!

I'm sorry but who can take The Rise of Skywalker seriously, when, one! Emperor Palpatine is around after exploding twice! And even though his fucking ships can't go up! #3. Rey, Poe and Finn acting like they've known each other, when this is the first time we get to see them interact with each other.

#4. Passana, not only do they act as if the celebration will cause an issue, when they have no where specifically in Passana to go! Kylo Ren fucking pulls a necklace off of Rey's neck, which causes many questions now!, but for the fact that they were going to be sighted anyways so why do it! Let's not forget that Rey couldn't levitate 6 people when the beginning literally shows her levitate herself with several rocks with no apparent struggle! But no it's fine because they find the mcguffin, and Rey just heals the creature, who just so happens to be covering an exit!

So many fucking conveniences!

#5. Rey after finding the Mcguffin, leaves and almost gets plowed by Kylo, who if you remember doesn't want to kill her!, so why the fuck, would he want to run her the fuck off! I guess it's just for the visuals! Then Kylo explodes and doesn't have a scratch on him, the plot Armour is strong with this one. And of course Chewbacca gets stolen by the First Order and when Rey tries to save him, she fucking shoots lightening out of her hands! I'm sorry but whatever happened to Force Lightening being one of the harded Jedi practice, which is why Palpatine is the only character who has it! You can't just shoot out Force Lightening and especially a character who, compared to any other character barely had any practice!

#6. Babu Frick, a mechanic doesn't have anything to store C3PO memory, and anyways, they find DO, so just have him read the Sith language and you don't have to do this stupid scene, but Fuck it, let's have C3PO death scene with literally no one's he should give two fucks about! Because that'll really pull on the hearstring

#7 Rey finds out she's a Palpatine... and then nothing really changed. She doesn't change and I have no fear that'll she'd turn bad, she's too good, too perfect and not in a positive way. She has a small hissey fit, but as soon as Luke tells her she's not evil,she decides to defeat Palps.

#8. Leia is dead, and we have no reason for how it happens, let's not forget about her stupid prophecy, her son[Kylo] will die at the end of her Jedi training, so she decided to give up her lightsaber to someone who will finish her training, killing her son, it's so stupid and honestly as much as I love Leia, she shouldn't have become a Jedi. But then again she does, so I guess it doesn't fucking matters anymore.

#9. Force Ghosts can use the force! So why in the world wouldn't they decide to come to Exegul to fucking destroy Palps, they can't die! And don't you dare tell me it's because that specific planet has alot of force, because then why in the world would Luke go there! Since he wants to get away from the force! And even still, State that! Or make it fucking clear.

#10. Kylo turns good, so I guess, that's okay, but how the hell did he find Rey on the Death Star, when A, you can only find it using the Wayfinder, B, It's placed in an area where you have to be standing in a specific place and hope that the place did not erode or was scavenged. And don't give me the stupid excuse was that the Wayfinder gives special coordination to the area, but, it you know how any map works, it doesn't give you the exact place to stand, it gives you the general fucking location, and even still, if Rey, was an inch to the left, they would be shit out of luck.

The fucking End! Rey is told to kill Palps so he could inhabit her body, so she kills him....with two Lightsabers, do you remember the Prequels, Mace Window was a skilled opponent and was at his best form and his lightsaber just made Palps bald! But apparently all he needed was an extra lightsaber. Oh and the whole, be with me! Solely there for the director to say that's the reason Rey won, not because she a Mary Sue, and can never lose, like seriously during the entire trilogy, she never fails or changes as a character. So apparently a force Diad can restore a force user to it's full ability, I guess that gives us enough info on force Diads, it not like we not need anymore information, Ashoka is apparently dead! And don't give me the crap about how the director said how she's not, he's just making up for his fuck ups. Kylo Ren heals Rey, and dies, not only can he heals someone with no experience, but even though when Rey heals Kylo of a fatal wound! She's perfectly fine when Kylo heals Rey, he dies! Oh and don't get me started on their kiss, honestly, that is not a kiss siblings have, and if your wondering, yes! Jar Jar Abrams told everyone that this kiss was meant to be a brother and Sister kiss! Honestly I can fix this, Rey dies due to Palps absorbing her powers, and only Kylo survives, and then Kylo kills Palpatine, it both a homage, to the original trilogy with a Skywalker defeating a Palpatine but it wouldn't bring into question of Palpatine inhabiting Rey's body. It would also be a great story arc for Ben[Kylo] as he like his grandfather, decides to become good because of someone they care for. And then if you want he could not die and save Rey, but personally I think these two infections should die together. It might be a somber tale but it would be a change from the original, and you could even show a new force user and then bang you have a new character to create a movie about. Honestly I just never really enjoyed this ending or movie, and the fact that the lat word a Skywalker utters is Ow, is just insulting to their legacy.

Dishonorary mentions: Rey took the Skywalker last name as her own, like Bitch, you did not deserves this, after you take all of their accomplishments and claim them as your own. It also makes no sense in universe as the only Skywalker, she was ever close to was Leia, and she continuously goes by in movies and books as Leia Organa, because you know, even if Vader was her father, she not going to take the name of the man who killed her only parents but also her people. So why not Organa or even Solo, Rey doesn't have a great connection with Luke during The Last Jedi, so why the hell, would she go by that name, also, What about your parents Rey, the people who literally sacrificed themselves for you, I guess fuck them. BTW, I love the fact that Rey's mother convinced Ochi, Ouchi? Doesn't matter, she tells the a Sith assassin, that Rey is not on Jaku, literally word for word, very convincing.

Finn, has some force abilities and while I would love to see how he would react to this ability all he ever does is yell Rey, literally, take a drink everytime he does it and you'll be blackout drunk by the halfway mark, it's so annoying.

Jada is fine, but I hate that's she just a Finn as woman, and their connection only goes as far as the fact that their both were once stormtroopers.

Honestly I enjoyed Zori Bliss' character but she was so useless and was only there to shout encouraging words to Poe, and gives him the medallion, which, if we think about, shouldn't work but I digress.

do you think kylo will get redeemed in ix? what form do you think that could take, what do you think he could do?

first, I’m referring you to my kylo ren tag where you can find entirely too much (for my standards) word-vomit on why he’s not written as a Villain™️/how and why he’s written as an extremely psychologically fragile person/abuse victim so that I don’t have to go over it all over again if not briefly.

secondly, question one: yes I think it’s unquestionable he’s getting redeemed, for a bunch of reasons, including:

as stated above, he’s not framed as The Bad Guy™️ and he never was - in the context of vii/viii, the Bad Guy™️ is snoke, not him. at most phasma but phasma got the shaft, read the book for the gloriousness of horribleness phasma is. but like, tldr: the first order is structured like one of those terrorist organizations where the worst elements on top recruit young people in it mostly preying on their issues/their psychological fragility to recruit them to the cause and hux/kylo are perfect examples of it. except that hux is doing it out of needing to follow in his father’s footsteps and not knowing any better and needing to feel useful which btw snoke openly said in tlj, like he openly admitted he was using hux using his issues as leverage, while kylo has been recruited from the outside and snoke did it taking advantage of a) his mental instability, b) his fragility tied to being too force sensitive, c) the fact that han and leia tried but couldn’t deal with it satisfactorily, d) the fact that luke done fucked up (and luke APOLOGIZES TO KYLO FOR IT like... guys srsly). kylo is written as one of the bad guys who’s a bad guy because he’s been psychologically manipulated for a hell of a long time and snoke took advantage of his issues to bring him to the dark side and who has issues. period;

now: guys, sw is about redemption. the entire fucking trilogy was about redeeming ANAKIN SKYWALKER who has objectively done way worse than kylo tbqh. I mean if anakin can be redeemed anyone can be redeemed but anyway, out of anyone in the dark side rn kylo is the only serious candidate for it, BECAUSE:a) it’s been shown that he’s conflicted (and THE LIGHT CALLS TO HIM pff)b) he’s been textually put in the same category as han (too much of your father in you *cough*) and han solo is.. you know, main character of the previous round? a hero? a good guy regardless of what he likes to think? his ENTIRE backstory movie was about how much of a good guy he is deep down and how what makes him special is making others happy, and I’m supposed to think that someone who has too much of this person’s heart in him is irredeemable? yeah, no;c) vii was partially about han trying to convince him to come back, viii was partially about rey physically going to the mothership to drag him back to the light, like half of the plot of the entire new trilogy has been about redeeming kylo ren and I have to assume it’s not happening in ix? bold;d) snoke is dead (thank fuck), phasma is probably dead and anyway if she wasn’t going by her back story I 100% assure you she’s not redeemable in any way whatsoever, hux isn’t really interested in anything but the first order and he’s not shown being conflicted once, who’s gonna get redeemed, stormtrooper #498758329? (finn does not count because finn deflected in the first fifteen minutes of vii and he’s specifically written as a hero, he doesn’t have to redeem himself nor anyone has to redeem him), who else is left?e) especially when the last option left is the last skywalker alive? in a saga choke-full of skywalkers?like. guys. a sw trilogy ending without redemption (the prequels don’t count because we KNOW anakin gets redeemed already) isn’t sw. so: it’s gotta be him.

question two:

in order to give a shot at how I should know SOMETHING about the plot for ix and I don’t like speculating on nothing but going on what we have

vii was about han (and leia if you choose to interpret it as han going to get him for her too) trying to convince him to change his mind but it wasn’t enough because again, kylo also went to the dark side because he felt like his parents betrayed him/weren’t enough/couldn’t help him/sent it to luke/yougetit and he wasn’t going to get swayed by that especially when snoke is pushing him to prove that he really is a darksider, so no;

viii was about him and rey establishing a connection and rey trying to go get him physically and assuming he wanted to go back to the light because of what she saw in the connection. now, viii had more interesting consequences because a) kylo actually felt close to rey and they befriended each other and he’s felt accepted by someone who saw inside him, b) he cares about her enough that he killed his abuser/*his true enemy* (LITERAL LINE) so that she wouldn’t die herself, c) he got rid of the person weighing him down, except that since getting better/getting free of your issues is not healthy if you only tie it to one person he didn’t eventually get his shot at redemption because he assumed that rey wanted what he wanted ie ruling the galaxy (or, what he thinks he wants) and then that didn’t work out as we all saw;

so now we have kylo who technically has what he THINKS he wants (being supreme leader/what his grandfather couldn’t be while following in his footsteps) but is basically on his own and in the next one will have to deal with leia’s death on top of that (because like even if it wasn’t in the plans for ix she has to die at this point), while knowing that there’s people on the other side who actually are only waiting for him to turn and come back where he’s supposed to and ix starts from that;

so tldr very shortly, what is most likely to happen to me is that kylo gives this supreme leader-ing thing a shot and realizes that it’s not what he wants nor who he is, probably hux is gonna try to dethrone him or smth because it seems likely while the light side is going to try and organize themselves to destroy the first order for good, MAYBE luke and/or han show up as force ghosts or smth because luke DID say see you around at the end of tlj, then at some point he realizes that the dark side isn’t what he wants, says fuck it, does something heroic that helps the heroes at the last minute and goes back to the light or smth but the point is that he has to realize he wants it for himself and not for his parents or rey or whoever, and that’s why the attempts in vii and viii didn’t work - because he’s always assumed his destiny = the dark side and hasn’t realized that it’s not, but at the same time you don’t change for other people, you change for yourself if you want it to stick. so I think something along the ^^^ lines might happen but don’t ask me a possible plot for ix because who even fucking knows I should at least see a trailer to start guessing xD

I love your art. I’m really interested in your blog because I didn’t hate tlj. Don’t get me wrong I didn’t love it. You really didn’t like the throne room scene? I know slowed down it looks like crap but in the moment I thought it looked ok? Also were you not happy with Canto Bight? Do you think it dragged or you just think it was unnecessary?

 I didn’t like it because this scene had not stakes at all from the starts. Even w/o the slowing down, you can see how weak & bad the choregraphy is ( my brother only saw tlj once & started to point out the weaknesses of the scene right after we saw the movie) The preotarians looks like and act like big blind lobsters. Rey wield a lightsaber as if it was her primary weapon for years. The preotarian guards teleport themselves and conviniently disappear the time one is taken out by Rey. There is so much uncessary twirlings with so many foes, it’s almost confusing. Making a weak choregraphied scene looks flashy is like putting whipped cream on shit, it won’t make it a chocolat liégeois. 

Canto Bight had a lot of potential to show off the current state of the galaxy and show off the worldbuilding thru the clients of the casino discussing of these matters since casinos are often has meeting points for powerful economical and political actors in movies without the heavy handed speeches but it didn’t do anything? You are going to tell me that all the people that goes to casinos are weapons dealers? lol sure. Shouldn’t they btw be at work after the Hosnian’s destruction that should have sent the galaxy in total chaos. Also how can Maz be sure the Codebreaker would be in that casino & that hotel at the same day and same hour? Does he lives there? Also DJ giving a lesson to Finn (when he actually should have given it to Rose) that weapons dealers sell stuff to the Resistance and the FO doesn’t makes sense? It has been established the FO is already contracted with manufacturers & litterally have their own shipyiards and factories. They are innovating everything by themselves. The Resistance, being an illegal but tolerated paramilitary group, should be the only one being supplied by a black market. Why would the then FO take the risks to buy from weapons dealers? SW breaking its worldbuilding once again. Canto Bight was a poorly-written, faulty and unnecessary arc where Finn is just pushed around and manage to make the conflict look small. It shows how bad the LF story group is at keeping continuity & the lore too. It’s like every writers/directors were off doing their own things without proper coordination & supervision from Lucasfilms and it is really unprofessionnal.
