Evan Magne add. Info
Hey ya’ll! @blueraggdollcat asked me for more info on Evan and his relationships with others, so I thought I’d post my answers publicly for those who are interested!
~
Vaggie acts like a second sister / borderline mother to him at times. They're very fond of each other, Evan is glad Charlie found someone that makes her happy, unlike her ex boyfriend Seviathan
Evan used to get really dirty and laugh at Niffty's ferocious cleaning as a child, but as he aged he began to clean up after himself and make sure he's well dressed and making as less of a mess as possible which gives Niffty so much relief. Niffty also finds him really cute, totally got the face of a boyband mascot. He’s flattered, but won’t be joining a band any time soon lol. (Niffty also sorta turned him into a clean freak like herself...)
Husker likes Evan. He used to give him milk and leave him in charge of the bar as a baby. As he aged, Husk now serves him alcohol when he requests it and has utmost trust in him. The two have a lot of friendly conversation on warm evening nights after a long, tiresome day
Angel and Evan are best bros. Evan is sort of gender-fluid when it comes to clothing like his sister. Angel is his opportunity to explore femininity and just have a chaotic teenage life he otherwise wouldn't be allowed to have as the Prince of Hell. The two gossip and Evan attends many of Angel's shows. He always gets free tickets
Evan is fascinated with Sir Pentious' tech. As a baby, he would mess around with all the machines which would drive Pentious nuts. All the egg bois LOVED having Evan around, just cooing at them. Sir Pentious was hinted at having a son, so even though he acts annoyed at Evan at first, he quickly comes to cherish the kid and have very awkward dad-humor or forced bonding time with him. As Evan grows, Sir Pentious feels the hollow place in his heart fill up a little, remembering fatherhood and slowly understanding children / the youth a bit more. Sir Pentious is the awkward uncle to Evan. They like eachother despite the awkwardness.
Any friend of Angel's is a friend of hers. Cherri Bomb likes Evan, but he can't exactly say the same about her. Her spunky style and need to explode things unnerve him a bit. He gets along with her, but she tests his patience and makes him very upset / nervous, just tossing bombs and exploding things left and right. He’d probably snap, yell himself hoarse at her as she laughs and teases him. He comes home, his hair a mess, his eyes wide with bags under them, and his pristine clothing covered in soot. It's not a happy sight...
Evan's relationship with "Baxter" would be somewhat similar to Sir Pentious. WHile Evan is fascinated with technology, its not exactly his cup of tea. He likes to hear about it, but he would never actively participate. He sees Baxter as a type of brother to him, one that locks himself away in his room and only comes out if he needs something. They respect eachother's spaces and the two have a silent agreement about it.
Also, I forgot Alastor- Alastor has always been like an Uncle to Evan. He's the reason Evan is always smiling. He learned manipulation tactics and even has a great love for swing music all because of Alastor's influence. Alastor also loves to see him and Charlie. He almost thinks of the two as his own. Because the two are always smiling, they have a silent understanding that... things can be very fake. that there are many insecurities beneath, waiting to crawl their way out of their throats. It's hard work, always having to put up a front and be cruel. So being at the hotel is such a relief to them. Being around eachother... they let their smiles calm a bit. They for once smile genuinely, just being around eachother.
~~
Away from his friends and the Hotel, when it comes to the Overlords, he acts much like his father or mother would. He is cold, calculating, and confident. Even as a baby, he knew better than to act up in front of them. He always needed to keep up appearances for the sake of his family name and reputation.
He'd even threaten some of the Overlords with war if they ever crossed the line, and he damn well means it. Luckily it rarely ever comes to that. Lucifer is proud his son is such a well-composed demon like himself. But Evan doesn't like the favoritism. Lucifer should love Charlie too, but he doesn't, and for that, Evan holds a secret grudge against his father for it.
When it comes to the Helluva Boss characters...
Stolas is someone Evan would be fond of. Stolas is no doubt an evil overlord, but he has a daughter, and can actually be quite sweet to those in his immediate circle. Stolas thinks Evan is the spitting image of his parents and compliments his stature and confidence. He has utmost respect for Evan and surprisingly likes Charlie quite a bit too. "I have a daughter myself, you see. They can be quite a handful, but you can't help but love them all the same." Evan has great respect for Stolas despite his wealth and questionable business practices. Sometimes they bump into eachother during outings or at weird theme parks. They're always happy to exchange "hellos"!
I don't see Evan really meeting or interacting with many of the IMP characters, however..
It's very likely that Evan would bump into Blitzo and Stolas on an outing. Evan isn't exactly clear whether Stolas has a wife or not despite having a daughter, and innocently asks one day "Is this your boyfriend?" To which the two sputter embarrassed and exasperated. Firm denial, teasing confirmation, some bickering later... Evan just watches the two and somehow gets the gist that they'e good friends. Blitzo is quite comical, and his energy comes across as a theater kid, much like his sister. Evan wouldn't interact a whole lot with Blitzo, they'd never be more than acquaintances, but he thinks its cute Stolas can have such a goofy little friend.
Evan wouldn't interact with Loona at all. They'd both just.. sit there, typing away at their phones with boredom. They're both ... for some weird reason... irritated at eachother's presence. But as long as the other keeps their mouth shut and eyes trained on their phone, the cold war between them will remain just that: cold. (Evan might be a little more of a cat person than a dog person....)
Evan would think Millie is a sweet little thing. Quite surprised she could be such a murder machine. He would compliment Moxxie's music, thinking their relationship is shockingly the most healthy in all of hell. I don't think they'd have much interaction beyond that.
Annndddd something else about Evan: a good portion of his personality is on lockdown. He acts all smiley, friendly, chivalrous, and dainty. Always striving for perfection in both his posture and personality. Of course, when in front of powerful demons he also has to act like a force to be reckoned with. While he does get his escape with the staff at the hotel, the pressure of being the prince of hell gets to him. He sometimes gets so exhausted and stressed. He might accidentally lash out at others because of it, especially his sister, who he is the most comfortable letting his guard down. The two rarely, but sometimes curl up, just holding one another as they cry.
Evan's relationship with his sister may seem perfect, but they do bicker sometimes. They do disagree sometimes. Evan doesn't always like his sister's childish attitude in certain situations, and Charlie doesn't like Evan's mightier-than-thou attitude either. But they are still very good to eachother. Its sorta just.. them against the world. They were born in hell. Evan has accepted the fact that he's a demon, but he knows his sister is different. He knows she doesn't belong here. That makes him sad. It shows his bad side a little. He almost wants to force Charlie to stay, stay in Hell with him. So she can't leave.... leave him there alone. Go somewhere else... somewhere better. It's a struggle. He feels slight guilt over it, but his obsession only drives forth his determination more. He wouldn't sabotage the hotel, but he would be damned if he ever let Charlie leave. I doubt Charlie would want to leave him, but Evan knows there are nights that Charlie wants to abandon it all from the stress. He knows she's the one who actually wants to go to heaven. It's the place she deserves to be. But ...
"Oh sister mine... please allow me a little selfishness. You don't belong here, I know. But I can't ever .... bare to let you leave.... "
#text post#ask#evan magne#oc#evanthos magne#hazbin hotel#long post#he gets a little yandere at the end there dlsjgdlfkjg#but his relationship with his sister is strictly platonic btw no incest#also i think.... i dont know if i mentioned what his preference is#but i think he would be ....#a panromantic demisexual?#he also feels on the nonbinary spectrum despite dressing and refering to himself as a guy more often than not#or genderfluid? not sure which just yet#despite his sexuality he's never really felt the need to explore romantic relationships#he finds a lot of other demons unworthy of his attention#he's already had such a big supportive loving family full of friends at the hotel#so he's fulfilled#he doesn't particularly need a romantic relationship in his life and he's content with that

Survey #387
“today i woke up, & i hate myself”
What common problem have you never experienced? The loss of a close family member (that doesn't include pets). Alternatively, what's an uncommon problem you have experienced? Homelessness. Do you know anyone who opposes marriage equality? I sure do. What was the last thing you got really emotional about? Meerkat Manor: Rise of the Dynasty premiering. What's the longest amount of time you've been ill for? I don't really know. I don't get sick a lot at all. Who is your closest male friend? Girt. Do you know anyone who hunts for meat? Sadly. I say "sadly" because it's not like they need it. Have you ever lived with a boyfriend/girlfriend? Yes, although I wasn't a technical resident. I was there all the time, though. What do you wash dishes with? Sponge, scrub brush, rag, something else? A sponge. Is there anything you prefer to do the old-fashioned way? There's probably something, but I can't think of anything. Do you put your glasses and mugs right side up or upside down on the cabinet shelf? Upside-down. What was the worst part of your childhood? My parents fighting. Have you ever seen a high school relationship last long-term? (like 10+yrs) Yeah. Do you know any cancer survivors? Quite a few. Leftover pizza for breakfast... yay or nay? Good shit, man. Do you personally know anyone who's a psychopath or sociopath? I don't think so. What is your most used kitchen appliance? Lately, it's been the apple slicer. I've been on a real apple slices + peanut butter kick lately. What is something that you would personally like to be remembered for? For being a caring person towards all living things. Have you ever been diagnosed as clinically depressed before? Yes. Do you like bowling? Yeah, it's fun. Do you own binoculars or nonoculars? What do you use them for? No. Do you ever wish you had a telescope on the roof or attic to stargaze? Yeah, that'd be cool. Have you ever had to deal with someone close to you going off to war? No, thankfully. Who do you feel you have the most in common with? Sara, easily. Who in your life causes you the most stress or negative feelings? My damn self lmao. Have you ever had a teacher that also taught your parents? No. My parents didn't grow up in NC. What’s one thing that people definitely CAN’T count on you for? To remember like... anything. What about something they definitely can count on you for? Someone to listen to encourage them. What’s one food that you want to try but haven’t yet? I've always thought macaroons look good. Do you have anything planned for the summer? No. Do you walk fast or slow? Slow. Would you consider yourself an adrenaline junkie? No. What is a common slang word from where you live? Plural "you" does not exist. It's "y'all," lol. What’s the scariest thing you’ve accidentally found on the internet? *shrug* Probably something as a kid, going on those sketchy websites with loads of games and stuff. Thinking of every Halloween costume you’ve had, which one was the most creative? I don't think I've had any creative costumes for Halloween. What’s one random city you want to visit? It's not exactly "random" as it's a popular location, but anyway, I would love to visit Venice. What subjects do you or did you get the worst grades in? Math. When was the last time you ate cake and what type of cake was it? That's a good question, actually. Maybe my niece's birthday in February? I don't remember what kind of cake it was. Do you have photos to go with all of the contacts in your phone? No; I don't have any. Do you like snowy winter days or do you prefer rainy days? SNOWY! Name 3 things you find most beautiful in nature: Mountains, large waterfalls, and desert dunes in the wind. If you could ask one person one questions and get a completely honest answer who would it be and what would you ask? Jason. I'd ask if he thought I was emotionally abusive. What is your favorite winter activity? Building snowmen. Who is the greatest singer who is no longer living? Freddie Mercury. What is your idea of heaven? I don't know, really... I have to ask myself IS there a heaven in eternity? Living forever just... doesn't appeal to me. "Living" is an odd word to use there, but hopefully you get it. Existing on and on and on and on seems like it'd just be a drag, but at the same time I do like the thought of feeling relentlessly happy and peaceful with my loved ones. I guess that would be my definition of it, if it does exist. What’s one of the scariest things you’ve ever done? ODed. Have you ever watched the Superbowl all the way through? Just once, on my 16th birthday because I was at Jason's place and all of his family was watching it. I had absolutely zero interest, but we wanted to hang with the family. If you had to move to another country, where would you move? Canada. Do you watch American Horror Story? I haven't in years. It was Jason's and my first "show," and the first season was excellent. I lost interest in the second one, honestly. I'd be up for watching other seasons, though. How many relationships have you been in this year? None. What's your favorite cereal? Probably Cinnamon Toast Crunch. That's also the only cereal where I can happily drink the milk afterwards. Twitter or Facebook? Facebook. Do you like to paint your nails? No. What's the coolest place you've ever been to? Disney World, probably. Have you ever punched anyone? No. What's something you wish you knew how to do? Cook. :/ I really need to make an effort to learn. It'd be great to not rely on a microwave for the rest of my life. What's a celebrity that everyone likes but you don't? *shrug* What food do you eat the most? Probably bread in some form or another. That really needs to stop. Green or purple grapes? Either one, but they have to be firm. I cannooooooot with soft grapes. Have you ever cried over a text? Yeah. What's the background of your phone of? My lock screen is this pretty, simplistic periwinkle color with "work on you for you" written on it. It's one I plan on keeping for probably a long time because I connect to it so deeply with my stupid damn head frequently demanding I have to improve "for Jason" to prove him wrong. Which is a very unhealthy mindset to have, I know. My home screen is a cute lil Mark edit someone made with a very similar pale blue background, so my phone is just currently an #aesthetic. Do you have a Snapchat? No. What's your favorite sports team? (if you like sports)? I don't like sports, but I'm biased towards the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team because of my dad. Last thing you ate? I had Honey Nut Cheerios for breakfast. Do you take a lot of selfies? Definitely not. I just hate how I look so much; it takes way too much effort for me to get an "acceptable" one. Do you prefer strawberries or cherries? Strawberries. I hate cherries. How many hours of sleep did you get last night? Maybe like, three. -_- Our A/C is still out, and it was like, 87 in the house last night. It was impossible to sleep. Do you listen to music daily? Not EVERY day, but usually. Biggest insecurity? My weight. Do you play video games? Not as much as I used to. I'd probably play way more if I actually had a PS4 + the games I'm DYING to have. Do you consider yourself lazy? "Yes, but a lot of it is also health related for my lack of energy and motivation." <<<< This for me as well. What recently made you laugh? I was watching a bit of The Nanny with Mom yesterday. We love that show. Do you like gummy bears? Yep. What was the last song you listened to? I'm randomly hooked on "My Nocturnal Serenade" by YOHIO. Like, I've known the song for a long time, but NOW I'm bingeing it???? Describe your mom with one word. Selfless. What's the biggest turn-off? Probably being misogynistic. But being a cocky ass is definitely high up there, too. What fish scares you the most? Mfkng whale sharks terrify me. How do you feel about snails? They're cuties!!! What's your favorite app? Pokemon GO. Would you rather time travel into the past or future? The future, to see what's coming. I feel like you could come back with some pretty valuable information. What is the saddest song you've ever heard? I think "Terrible Things" by Mayday Parade has to come on top. What insect do you hate the most? I was reminded that stag beetles exist last night, and omfg those. Well, "hate" is the wrong word, really, I'm just terrified of them. Would you ever have a wild animal as a pet if possible? I 110% want to rescue an opossum, emphasis on "rescue." I'm not plucking one from the wild or anything like that. I would be in HEAVEN raising one of those angels. Are there any decorations that makes you happy? (lights, candles, plants..) I love those beds decorated with fairy lights, and just Christmas lights in general. Halloween and Christmas decor tend to give me sparks of happiness when I see 'em. Does race matter to you when it comes to dating? Not at all for me. When was the last time you painted something? Not since I was still in school and took a Painting course. When was the last time you really felt alive, and what were you doing? I have NO idea. What is one question you would like an answer to? Why the worst things tend to happen to good people. Name one favorite thing to do with kids while babysitting. I don't babysit, but if I was to be in charge of a kid, I'd love to teach them to play video games from my childhood. Playing Pokemon with my niece and nephew is always a blast, ahhhh. Name one flavor you like. Strawberry is pretty consistent. Name one thing you are hoping for. Venus' new terrarium soon... big sigh. I can't for the life of me find one that's a reasonable price and also adequately sized. I'm willing to put the rest of my cash into it, but Mom is helping, so I can't just buy the first one I see. Then I'd need more substrate, I seriously want a temperature gun and hygrometer, a cool hide, sticks and stuff for cover... It's going to be expensive, but I want Venus to have a truly proper environment she can thrive in. Write the name of one of your imaginary friends from when you were younger. Oddly enough, I can't remember the imaginary wolf that was my "friend." I say "oddly" because his whole idea was important to me as a weird-ass kid. Name one girl's name that starts with a "J" that you like. "Justine." Name one boy's name that starts with a "J" that you like. Maybe "Jaxson." Have you ever been kissed? Yeah. Have you ever feared that you would be killed? It's never been like, a fear I actively worry about. I just acknowledge it's always a possibility for anyone. What is the last great opportunity you missed? This was quite a while ago by now, but I'd say by dropping out of school, I really let photography opportunities slip since I became the newspaper photographer...

Commission for @thedashasaproblem! Hope you enjoy; read it on AO3 here.
Farmer Marie, original character, belongs to @thedashasaproblem. Stardew Valley, and all characters and settings therein, belongs to concernedape.
“Okay! We have quite a few things we need to get done today. Marnie called – you know how I asked her to let us know if she had any more available chicks? Yes? – and said there were some new ones we could pick up, which is perfect and just in time because Robin wrapped up the coop yesterday! And that means we need fresh hay in the coop, and if we need to restock the silo then we’ll mow too. Bessie needs to be milked and we’ll check if Sweetpea has any this morning or if she’s still nursing – ugh, little Delilah is going to be so stunning when she grows up, I can feel it. Oh, and good morning babe!”
Elliott blinks from where he’d stumbled into the kitchen, his hair thrown into a messy bun and loose auburn strands hanging around his face. He is in no way prepared for Marie’s chipper enthusiasm, but that’s what made him love her, after all. And, this entire situation is something he brought upon himself.
Head full of fantastical pastoral fantasies, he’d asked Marie to keep him appraised of what it takes to run Shady Land Farm. He was good with books, which was helpful – while Marie was running about the Valley in search of delicious fruits and rare stones, Elliott appointed himself the financier of Marie’s assets.
It had been difficult; he’d consolidated sticky notes scattered about the house with haphazard reminders about supplies owed to Robin, and items to sell to Pierre at the general store vs. what should be distributed to townsfolk directly, and birthday reminders, and favorite gifts, and occasional notes written in a script he couldn’t parse but appearing on a fantastical dark blue page that made his writer’s intuition spark. (That, and his fingers burned a little whenever he held such a note, as if it knew that he was not the intended recipient, but he never let Marie know that.)
After his book tour had completed, he had taken the better part of their first fall together to consolidate these notes and square the books. It had been helpful when Marie decided to go forward with the basement upgrade, and suddenly Shady Land’s wines and cheeses were worth quite a lot more. They’d only recently begun talking about incorporating more animals into the farm, hence the phone call to Marnie. With the addition of more animals, and Marie’s additional time spent working on repairing the old Community Center, Elliott wanted to assist more. It was only fair, after all; he still got most of his writing done at night, and there was no reason he couldn’t spend more of his mornings helping around the farm.
Marie had been ecstatic, of course, and he’d glowed with the anticipated appreciation for his efforts. So far, it hadn’t been that difficult. Sprinklers handled most of the watering, and with Marie’s clear eye for design, he wasn’t getting lost in the fields as he had feared he would.
But he still wasn’t a morning person, and his brain isn’t entirely on all the way, especially when his wife has inundated him with information and her beautiful visage so early in the morning.
Marie looks up at him, wide blue eyes and a warm smile on her face, blonde hair tucked away in two braids that usually resided beneath her sunhat. The hat now rests on the worn kitchen table, two steaming mugs of coffee and cozy breakfast platters set on the table. Still processing his wife’s words, Elliott makes his way to the second breakfast platter and pours some milk into his coffee, knowing he’ll need it to make it through the day.
“Good morning, my dear,” he murmurs as he finishes those first three blessed gulps of caffeinated beverage. “Would you like me to fetch the chicks? Or shall I stay on the homestead and you venture to the forest?”
Marie takes a bite of her eggs, done up with some goat cheese – “I bought it from Pierre but when we get some we’ll make our own, and it’ll be probably fresher than this stuff!” – potatoes, and sausage in her own little scramble. Elliott’s breakfast is far more tame, scrambled eggs and farm fresh cheese, with toast on the side.
“If you want to take Miss Daisy to Marnie’s, that would be great! She could use an excursion, and she loves the woods.” Marie sets her hand – soft, thanks to the gloves she uses, but still strong and capable – over Elliott’s wrist. “If you don’t mind, that is. I know coming back with newborn chicks might be a little…difficult.”
He warms at her touch. “I’m sure Marnie has a basket or some such thing I could use, don’t fret darling. She’d never let anything happen to the animals in her care.”
Marie smiles at him, and pecks his cheek. “Alright, babe, I’ll head down to the barn –”
“Oh, I can do that!” He blushes a little after his outburst, but still gives his wife a smile. “Let me handle the animals today, my dear. The first fruits of spring will be in the orchard, and you’ve got a better sense for flora than I.”
They both remember the catastrophic effort in Elliott’s old cottage when he watered his rose with sea water and was confused as to why it was dying. That had been one of the many points Elliott began to consider Marie as more than a friend.
She gives him a look clearly conveying that she’s thinking of the same moment he is. “Well, alright. Apricots and cherries, what a combination. Oh! And the wine! I’ll be right back!” She darts away, down the basement stairs, presumably to see if any wine has finished maturing yet. Some things she pulls out early, just for a little extra cash – Gus is always appreciative of a finer quality of any type of ingredient, especially alcohol.
Elliott knows it will take her a little while to check each barrel, so he quickly finishes his breakfast and coffee, and then stands, ready to take on the day.
First, to get himself prepared.
Then, to tend to Miss Daisy.
♢♢♢
Marie loses some time in the basement, checking each and every barrel, weighing the pros and cons of switching out some of the wine barrels for cheese barrels. With Bessie and Sweetpea both producing such quality milk, Shady Land has a near excess of cheese and she knows Gus would pay a fair amount to have some for his pizzas and salads.
Then again, better quality cheese keeps her going in the mines and other excursions, so there might be some incentive to keep some around? She’d probably ask Elliott for his thoughts, but by the time she surfaces from the basement and sees the clock perched over the coffee maker in the kitchen, she realizes it’s already 2:49pm.
She’d left her husband alone for hours. Elliott isn’t incompetent, but there’s still etiquette for handling new animals, especially babies, and all of Grandpa’s farming books are written in family shorthand, something she’d been meaning to teach Elliott but just kept forgetting.
Alarmed, Marie runs out to the front porch, expecting some sort of catastrophe. Bessie to be loose – not that she’d do much but perhaps wander up towards the house and eat a few tulips or something – or maybe Aspen to have fallen into the lake (again) but instead all’s quiet. She can hear the soft bells hanging from Bessie, Sweetpea, and little Delilah, but she can’t see them through the orchard.
She doesn’t run, lest she startle anyone, but she heads towards the tree line as quickly as she can. As she approaches, she can hear her husband’s voice. She quiets her steps as she enters the dappled shade of the orchard, the apple and orange trees still dormant for the season, yet producing beautiful flowers regardless. A sweet spring wind guides some fallen petals towards her, beautifully framing the tender scene she sees before her.
Elliott sits on a stump, Miss Daisy, Bessie, and Sweetpea, grazing peacefully beside him. He and little Delilah, however, are looking down, enraptured with three small fuzzy brown and golden chirping fluffy chicks in the grass. The chicks are barely visible from her current distance, but as Elliott straightens up his long hair goes back into place, revealing a fourth little chick curled up in his hand, which he gives little pets to every once in a while.
“You’re not too different from the crab that once lived in my pocket,” the story crafter begins, murmuring to the little chick in his hand. The chick chirps in response, and Elliott chuckles. “I haven’t told you that story yet? Well, I absolutely should.”
Marie takes another small step forward, not wanting to encroach on the moment nor startle any of the beings involved. The more she watches the scene, the more she sees things she hadn’t before. Like how all the adult females stood firmly on the edge of the lake, prohibiting the chicks, Elliott, or Aspen from wandering too close to it. And a small – hopefully empty – milk pail sits next to the stump, as if her husband had finished a chore and then simply couldn’t be away from the chicks for much longer.
What gives her away is another small fluff ball in the grass, this one bigger than the chicks, a brilliant white that rockets out of the higher grass and directly into Marie’s arms.
“Aspen! Who’s a good boy?” she coos, on reflex. Miss Daisy looks nonplussed, as if she knew Marie was there the entire time, while Delilah startles a little and runs back to the safety of Sweetpea.
Elliott also startles, which startles the chicks, who all climb and jump up his pant legs and into his lap, chirping loudly until they can take cover in the safety of Elliott’s lap. “Darling! I didn’t hear you arrive!” He looks caught red handed, though with what, Marie’s not sure.
She walks over, Aspen tucked to her chest, and sees with no small amount of relief that the milk pail isn’t full of milk, but rather water. Now, she can also see a small basket, no doubt from Marnie, in which the chicks probably arrived.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t want to disrupt…you just looked so cute, babe! Everyone treating you nicely?” Marie leans forward, letting Aspen back down to the ground, and gives an affectionate rub to Miss Daisy, who wandered over searching for some treats.
Elliott blushes, visible even with the mid-spring flush he seems to always have on him. “Yes, quite. Everyone has been remarkably kind to me. Miss Daisy had to guide us home herself! I was, ah, a little preoccupied with the newest young ones.”
The wind picks up a little, carrying more flower petals through the air. Elliott’s long auburn waves glint caramel in the sun, unfurling to the side, revealing the turquoise earring usually kept tucked away. Marie had mined that turquoise herself; the earring had been a wedding gift from Clint, repurposing a stone Marie had sold him a few weeks prior to their proposal. (She had briefly wondered if maybe Clint and Elliott had been in on it together, as the timing was so perfect, but maybe she was simply overthinking things.)
Elliott looks completely at home, sitting cross-legged on the stump, worn down by spring rains. With the chicks in his lap and the errant flower petals in his hair, the man looks ever more like a regal prince from all the books and movies Marie had seen growing up.
“They’ve taken a liking to you,” she observes, reaching a finger in to give gentle pets to the soft downy chicks. They accept them, curious and cautious in their new home, but feeling brave under Elliott’s protection. “Have you thought of any names?”
Her husband looks up, green eyes wide. “Names? Oh, darling, I thought that was all you.”
“Nonsense! You picked them up, you should at least be able to name them. These ladies will need fine names, if they’re to live here on Shady Land. And you’re a writer, names are what you do!”
The chicks chirp in agreement, looking up at Elliott.
“Well…I was thinking this one could be Carmelina,” he murmurs, touching the lightest brown one. “Caramel, for the color, but the full name also means “vineyard of Yoba” so I find that fitting for the main exports of Shady Land, don’t you?”
Marie blinks. “You…knew the meaning of the name on the spot?”
“Of course! Clara was almost named Carmelina in Camellia Station, but I thought that would be too close to the title of the book, so I changed it. Still kept the C though.” He gets that wistful look on his face, a little lost in thought, as he usually does when trying to come up with next big ideas for his writing career.
The farmer giggles, giving more pets to Miss Daisy, who finally nosed out the cookies in Marie’s pockets. She gives one to her steadfast companion, looking at her husband with a newfound appreciation.
She takes a seat on the stump beside Elliott, looking up at him as they discussed further names for the chicks. The sun dripped down through the orchard’s branches, spreading dappled shadows up the short grassy expanse. Eventually, the cows and Miss Daisy wander back to their respective barns and stables, and the chicks doze off in Elliott’s lap. Marie delicately takes a couple – the newly named Carmelina and Dahlia – and heads off to the newly constructed coop to set them inside.
The chicks barely move when they’re set down in their new hay lined beds, clearly Elliott’s handiwork while Marie was tending to the house. The two of them hold hands, walking through the fields of Shady Land.
“You know, we could wash up and head to town. Get a late lunch at the Saloon, then maybe walk down by the beach?” Marie suggests, watching her husband for his response. She likes to spend as much time with him as possible before she loses him to his nightly writing routine, and there’s something a little tender about meandering down by the places they had fallen in love.
Elliott beams, nearly glowing with happiness. “That sounds delightful, dear. I’ll be sure to put on my best shirt.”
It’s not necessary to dress up for a 4pm lunch at the Stardrop Saloon, but Elliott likes to go the extra mile, and Marie can appreciate the little efforts to glamorize being a farmer’s husband. She kisses his dirt smeared cheek, standing side by side on the porch, and marvels at how far she’s taken the farm since her grandfather had worked the land.
Maybe someday she’d tell her husband about the vision she’d received a couple weeks ago, with her grandfather and the ultimate judging of her efforts so far, and the new, strange, blue flame candles on her grandfather’s shrine in the northwest corner of the farm. Someday. But not today.
“I wonder if Gus will have crab cakes,” she teases, stepping into their home, to the sounds of fire crackling in the fireplace and her husband enthusiastically waxing poetic about his favorite dish in the entire Valley.
Truly, it’s home.

Cutie Reviews: Sakuraco March 21
I’m so sorry anyone who was waiting for this DX after getting it I realized that I should take a day or two enjoying everything, rather then opening it all at once. I got it Tuesday so my goal was to get it up Wednesday, then Thursday.
So then wouldn’t you know, when I got to begin working on this the first time, my laptop decides it don’t want to cooperate. Anyway, it seems to be fine again so we’re going to get into this. I hope you’re excited!
For anyone who might be unfamiliar with the blog, or hasn’t seen my post covering this new branding. Sakuraco is by the popular Japanese-themed series of subscription boxes from Tokyo Treat. What makes this different from their normal snack box, is that this one is more focused on the local unique items that you usually wouldn’t see outside of Japan, elegant snacks for tea, pastries, pretty utensils, and so on.
As a reminder, I was given an offer that grants me a bonus of 4 items. These seem to range to unique items and some repeats of the box content.
“Over the past year, our team has worked hard preparing Sakuraco and we are eager to finally share our hard work with you! While this year has been full of challenges for many, we hope to bring you a moment of indulgence and cultural discovery that you’ll look forward to every month.“
Before I get into the contents I wanted to take a moment to go over the book. It’s really thick, which made me start theorizing that this could be why the other brand booklets became thinner around this time last year. You might have seen me comment on that in some reviews.
Inside the book you get a greeting page, and a page featuring the team who worked on the box. We get pages covering the items in the box, the month’s theme and various special things about Japan; such as a page on Niigata prefecture, and pages related to Hanami/Cherry Blossom Viewing. Lastly, there is the photo contest page, and some social media stuff. The book also covers the makers of the items, if they are Vegetarian friendly, and have any allergens.
Sweet Sakura Tea
Our first two items are tea drinks, one was a bonus however, so I won’t be going into detail as I can’t exactly tell what it was supposed to be. This one however, was one of the main vocal points of the box, and very exciting! This tea only requires this pickled sakura/cherry blossom flower and very hot water. As you combine the two, the flower opens and you’re free to drink it. You can also re-use the flower to bake with if you wanted.
This tea comes from Japan Green Tea Center in Tokyo. This is vegetarian and includes no allergens.
♥
I hope I don’t offend anyone, but I didn’t like this. I mean, I don’t like tea very much to begin with but this doesn’t even taste like tea- it tasted like the salty water I throw together and gargle with when I have mouth work done, or throat soreness. It was really pretty to watch/try, but it’s taste isn’t for me. I guess I just have an immature palette.
Sakura Konpeito
In this box, we’ll also be seeing some items exclusively made for/by it. This was our first of those items, little konpeito (sugar candies resembling little stars, those things Mario collects in the Mario Galaxy series). These are by Sasaki Confections, veg friendly and no allergens.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
You’ve tried one basic konpeito, you have tried them all. I like how these ones are smaller though, and their colors are so pretty~
Sakura Monaka & Strawberry Castella
I decided to only name the items the box is supposed to have, rather then add in the names of the bonus items. The reason this plate looks so full is because the Monaka came in 2 shapes, and the small pink thing is a bonus item. It’s a little piece of mochi, I think specifically ohagi. It’s small and the very cute, it was also fun to squish both in and out of the package :D I’m not sure about the flavor, it seems to be plain/sugary, but there’s a hint of something vaguely like coconut.
Next up is the baby Dorayaki nearby. Not much to say, it was very basic with red bean filling, just several times smaller than normal.
- - - -
Next up, the Monaka, which as I said above came in 2 shapes and features a cute print resembling a cup or bowl with a brush used to whisk matcha. This one’s by Ito Confectionery in Nagano, veg friendly, no allergens. Filled with red bean, it has notes of sakura and a thin, melt in your mouth pink wafer outside.
♥ ♥ ♥
I like the taste of wafer, which is pretty non-existent. These are especially soft and melty, they stick to your lips a little. I can’t really confirm the scent of the sakura (my nose isn’t very reliable <3< it only works some times), but the red bean filling is very tasty, so I’d like to say it’s in there. I usually don’t entirely enjoy red bean, but it didn’t bother me here.
- - - -
The castella is a thin cake-like sandwich usually filled with cream, in this case strawberry! This is by Nisshindo Confectionery in Nagano, veg friendly, but it has soybeans, milk, egg, and flour in it. The cake itself is made from brown sugar, and it has a very light, airy texture.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
It seems kind of plain/basic when you look at it, and you don’t really get much cream. But it was still tasty in a gentle, delicate kind of way. Some people might say it’s underwhelming, but it offers a nice contrast to the other contents and you can still taste the cream.
Sakura Madeleine, White Peach Castella, & Uji Matcha Castella
(sorry for the lighting, it was the next morning when I took this picture)
The madeleine comes from Ebisu Confectionery in Osaka. Veg friendly, but it has the same allergens as those listed above. You can see an image of it opened in the next pic, but I’ll talk about it here. It has sakura extract worked into the dough prior to baking. It resembles a muffin, or non-decorated cupcake.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I actually can’t remember this one in exact detail, but I know I liked it. It offered that hint of Sakura in a good way, and had a fluffy texture.
- - - -
These other two are another type of Castella Cake, which basically resemble a slice of plain cake. One is made from matcha/green tea, while the other is white peach. Both come from Ash Food Confectionery, located in Okayama. Both veg friendly, but they have the same allergens already listed, plus peach.
The matcha cake features a red beans baked into the dough, while the white peach uses peach puree.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Both were very delicious x3 the cake was soft and moist, they tasted very fresh. I’m not big on green tea but I didn’t hate that one at all, I LOVED the peach one a lot though. It was sweet and the peach flavor was very noticeable. I’d recommend it out of the two, but both were winners in my book :3
Strawberry Dorayaki & Sakura Strawberry Crepe Roll
The madeleine ended up here because I completely forgot I already took it’s picture. I reviewed it above, so just try to ignore it’s presence here. Also, the plate you see being used was included with the box :3 isn’t it lovely~?
I’ll start with the crepe as there isn’t much to say, it’s in the packaging beneath the other two. It was all broken apart so I left it in the pack until I wanted to eat it. It comes from Nakajima Taishodo in Osaka, veg friendly, typical allergens. It has sakura worked into the batter to provide scent, and thin strawberry filling prior to being rolled up.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Broken or not it still tasted good. The flavoring was light but noticeable, so I enjoyed it.
- - - -
Our dorayaki comes from Hiyoshi Confectionery in Shimane, featuring the semi-sweet, pancake-esque treat (another type of castella) with strawberry jam and red bean filling. Veg friendly, features flour and egg allergens.
The booklet suggests eating this with the sakura tea as it should enhance the flavors of the filling.
♥ ♥
It’s on the dry side, not enough to make someone choke. The pancake outside has a faint maple scent and it’s not very sweet, and I can’t really say I was a big fan of the filling. It only tastes like red bean to me, I couldn’t notice any sign of strawberry.
Peach Sandwich, Red Bean Taiyaki, & Sakura Mochi Monaka
Our first snack comes from Bankokuya in Kagoshima, veg friendly, typical allergens; but oddly, no peach allergen. There is traces of alcohol in it though, which I didn’t even notice. It’s a simple, cake-like sandwich filled with peach cream.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
The cake outside has a grainy, sugary texture which I wasn’t a huge fan of. But the cake is soft and the peach filling was sweet and fluffy~
- - - - -
Next up is a Monaka with mochi filling, from Tenkei Confectionery in Nagano. Veg friendly, includes egg. The monaka wafer is filled with a red bean mochi flavored with sakura petals baked inside,
♥ ♥
For as much as I like unique textures, I found this to be... too unique for me. The combination of crispy wafer didn’t go with the soft and squishy mochi inside. The mochi wasn’t my favorite either, but it wasn’t bad.
- - - - -
Our last item here is another Sakuraco exclusive, a red bean taiyaki created by Haraya in Shimame. Veg friendly, typical allergens. Taiyaki is a fluffy, soft snack similar to the dorayaki (minus the maple flavoring), which is usually filled with red bean, cream, or chocolate. There’s even a special pan one can purchase in order to make them, and they are very popular.
♥ ♥ ♥
It’s soft and maybe a little dry, but I was mainly impressed with the detail on it, given how small it is. It’s really cute x3 Again, I’m not the biggest fan of red bean, and this was filled with it. So if you like it, you’d probably love this, but if you never tried it before or are like me, it’s sort of a meh thing.
Sakura Senbei, Sakura Shrimp Senbei, & Sakurasen Cracker
Believe it or not, but we do get some savory items in here too! I love rice, especially when it’s in senbei form like this. These are each made by different companies and locations, so let’s start with the mini-sakura, shall we?
These are by Sakurado Confectionery in Niigata, and surprisingly are not veg friendly- because they include shrimp, flour, soybeans, and gelatin. They include soy sauce flavoring.
♥ ♥ ♥
Besides being really cute, they were pretty good. I wanted to love these and thought I would... but there is a shrimpiness that I could identify even without knowing it was in them. I used to like shrimp but for some reason I can’t stand it now. It bothered me a little, but it wasn’t a deal breaker.
- - - - -
Our rounded senbei comes from Sugi Confectionery in Aichi. It’s not veg friendly, and is made from flour, soybean, and squid. It has a mellow flavor and is a season limited edition item for Spring only, featuring the taste of Sakura.
The sakura-shaped senbei is from Kanazawa Kenroku Confectionery in Mie. Contains shrimp, not veg friendly.
♥
I felt the same way about both of them honestly. I tasted the fishiness so I really couldn’t tolerate them very much. Especially the round one, it’s crunch bordered on being unpleasant for me, but I loved the puffy-crunch of the other one. While they weren’t my favorites of the box, my mom (an avid seafood lover) liked them, in fact I think they perked her up a little that day when I gave them to her. She returned from chemo and was pretty hungry.
Yoshino Kuzamochi
I saved this item for last because I was the most excited for it! This one comes from Nakajima Taishodo again. Kuzamochi is like a stiff jello, usually with little taste that you enhance using things such as a caramel, maple, or brown sugar sauce and/or kinako powder, which tastes a bit like peanut butter in my opinion. It contains soy beans (you roast them to get kinoko powder), and is veg friendly.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I know it doesn’t look very aesthetically pleasing (I made a little heart on top though~) but it tastes so yummy! The plain kuzamochi didn’t have much flavor, but adding both the sauce and kinako really adds to it. The brown sugar makes it sweet, while the kinako adds a gentle, toasty earthiness. The texture might be a little off-putting to some, given it’s jello-ish consistency, but I loved it.
Opinions
Content - 3 out of 5. One thing was broken but otherwise everything was great. I did have a couple of items I didn’t particularly like the taste of but it was so exciting to try everything!
Theme: 4.5 out of 5. It was an elegant feeling box, by that I mean, seeing all the flowery inspiration and items. It was kind of nice how the first box they made actually matched up with the name, but that was probably just a coincidence. There was a couple of items that didn’t fit the theme, but that’s a bit trivial.
Total Rank: 8 out of 10 Cuties. For the first box, I thought it was just lovely. As I said, I had some complaint over taste but you can’t please everyone. I was so excited to get this box, everything was fun to try, and I love learning more about Japan so I appreciate how full our booklet is x3 I can tell they put a lot of effort into making this box, so I can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us!

A short and fluffy friends to lovers scenario with keonhee Pls 💖
[ oneus / lee keonhee ] ; fluff | friends to lovers + college au | 1.7k words
↪ he takes you out on a picnic day in the spring and it leads to the unexpected disclosure of hidden feelings for one another.
↪ a/n: thank you for requesting! i hope this meet your expectations? 💚
“This is probably one of the best ideas you’ve come up with yet.”
Spread out on the grassy floor is a snowy-white blanket pinned down by a straw basket and the bottoms of two individuals to prevent it from being dragged away by the currents of the calm wind. Strewn before them are various food items ranging from simple snacks, fruit and sandwiches as well as small cartons of different flavoured milk in order to quench their throats. They sit underneath a towering, blossoming cherry-blossom tree that every so often sprinkles them with its petals as the sunlight slants through its gaps as if asking if it could join the activity as well.
“Huh? What do you mean by that?” Keonhee responds, bemused, before following with an offended scoff. There’s a halfhearted grumble in his tone as he shoots you a look of playful disbelief. He sorts out the placement of the items before him and adds, “My ideas are always the best, just like this one, so I have no idea what you’re going on about. I think I should be given more credit, don’t you think?” Pride douses his voice, satisfied hums vibrating past his curved lips and floating in the air.
“Mhm. Definitely. That’s why I complimented you before,” you return with a smile dancing on your lips before bending forward to pick up a chocolate-chip cookie. Tearing it open from its plastic wrap, you instantly sink your teeth into its dough and break out into an even wider grin as its flavour pervades your senses. “Thank you, Keonhee. And you even included my favourites here! You’re seriously the best~” As you send adulations his way, you also throw your arms around his lean stature, draping your limbs over his shoulders and resting your weight affectionately on him.
“Yah, (Name), you’re heavy!” he whines, but nonetheless doesn’t move to peel you away from him. “And of course. This is all for you.” The last part is uttered in a soft whisper that escapes your ears.
There’s a soft smile decorating his features at the sight of you nestled against him, one that’s loving but with a frail edge to it that you’re unable to detect with your eyes closed and your head buried into his side. However you can hear him mumble, content phrases about how well everything was panning out, as you sense his movement and listen to the rustle of clothing that is probably him reaching out for a snack himself to nibble on.
Your chest is tickled by a lightness, eyes peeking open to see that he has his head is incredibly near yours. Time seems to freeze for you in that moment, as you shakily pursue his movements with your eyes. It seems his intention is to share a bite of the cookie you’re holding in your other hand that’s hanging between you both. Red brushes your cheeks and you struggle to formulate a collected reaction.
“Y-yah! You’re getting crumbs on me, Keonhee!” you complain, peeling yourself away from him. You allow him to take custody of what remains of the treat, dusting your attire down to rid yourself of the miniscule particles. “You could have just asked if you wanted some or just reached out for another one.” You ruffle your hair as if it’d help cool the heat warming your cheeks. “It’s not even that far, your long limbs could easily reach it!”
“Well, it’s difficult when you’re holding me down like that,” he just as defensively counters with a dash of childishness to his voice. Even so there’s a smile prominent in his voice as he softly adds, “and plus, you looked comfortable. I didn’t want to disturb you.”
As much you want to retaliate with: ‘and you think just suddenly placing your head near mine like that where I can practically feel your breath fanning my cheeks and inhale your faint cologne wouldn’t agitate me in any shape or form?!’, you restrain the urge to do so and deeply exhale. He most likely wouldn’t even understand where you were coming from. These types of interactions were common between you, even if it did make your heart want to burst out of its cage. And you sometimes can’t help but wonder, did he at least remotely feel the same as you? You couldn’t be the only one, right?
Keonhee reaches past you for a drink, fingers curling around a carton and piercing a straw into the designated slot as he takes a long, peaceful sip. You watch him doing so, a faraway look glossing your eyes as you drown in the deep sea of your thoughts. He takes notice, staring back at you curiously. “Do you want some?” His question is faintly muffled by the straw he’s chewing on before he offers the drink to you with a tilt to his head, misinterpreting your stance.
Snapping out of your trance, you sigh before mumbling the standard phrase of gratitude before accepting the carton. As the sweetness of the beverage contacts your papillae on your tongue, you realise something and your (e/c) hues blink quizzically. You steal a glance at him and then back at the drink, repeating this back and forth a couple of times. This eventually catches his attention, as he helps himself to another biscuit.
“What’s wrong? You’re all jittery.”
“I...”
“Hm?”
“Y-your lips…”
“My what?”
Your cheeks still burn as your mind keeps framing the particular scene in your memory. An indirect kiss—yours and Keonhee’s lips sharing the same straw. Usually you’re not one to fret over such details, but ever since you’ve been aware of him everything within you has changed. You’re more sensitive to every little thing he does and it’s annoying, but also joyous—very bittersweet.
“You look like a tomato right now!” he points out.
“Tell me something I don’t know…” you mutter in response, fanning yourself.
He tilts his head. “...Are you perhaps thinking about us sharing the same straw?” Your face grows hotter at his guess and he notices, knowing for certain he’s hit the bullseye. “Really? I never thought you’d be the type to worry about stuff like this,” he remarks. His lips soon tug up into a teasing smirk as he raises a brow at you. “We’ve always shared drinks and food together. Why be bashful about it now?”
You’re quick to defend yourself, an exasperated look crossing your features, “it’s called being in love, Keonhee! Everything to do with that person starts to—” A pause of silence falls between you like a curtain. Your expression freezes in horror, mouth agape. Did you just? No way. You didn’t just inadvertently confess to him, did you?
“Starts to what?” His playful grin widens as he shifts closer to you. “You’re in love with me?”
“I-I…” you stammer, thoughts muddled in your head and impairing your ability to articulate anything.
He giggles, looking at you fondly. “You’re cute.”
“What did you say…?” You blink, staring up at him. As your heart skips in your chest, you feel a sensation caressing your hand and look down to see he has covered it with his larger one.
“Do you remember that I told you I also had something to tell you today?” he dodges your question with one of his own. He has the softest eyes and most tender smile right now, and all of it is on display for your eyes to appreciate.
“H-huh? Yeah, I do.” You nod, briefly recalling the conversation you had on the phone with him. He had called you to see if you were available to join him on a day to the local park where the cherry blossoms were in full bloom, located near your college campus. In addition to wanting to show you the fully bloomed flowers, he had stated he also needed to tell you something important but wouldn’t offer any hints despite your pleas. “Why so suddenly?”
“I like you.” It’s blunt and void of any doubt. He’s very much serious, his eyes peering deeply into your own as his cheeks are painted a shade of shyness and his lips are curled into a soft smile.
“You what…?” All you can manage to respond with is a dumbfounded expression. You take a moment to question your ears, brain and sanity. Did you hear him correctly? Your ears weren’t deceiving you, right? He really did just tell you he liked you back?
“You’re seriously making me repeat myself?” he whines, bashful, but is nevertheless smiling as he reiterates his confession though he knows you must’ve heard him already. “I like you, (Name). Please go out with me.”
“For how long...?”
“A while now. I just struggled to find the right moment.”
“I... I still can’t believe it…”
“Huh? Why not?”
“I don’t know… it’s just…” you trail off, unable to explain your thoughts.
Then there’s a sensation tickling your forehead. It takes a minute to register, but you’re definitely sure he blessed your head with a brief yet sweet kiss.
“How’s that? Can you believe it now?” he asks, smiling endearingly at you.
“Mhm. Maybe a kiss on the lips would do the trick,” you suggest, a mischievous glint in your eye as the confidence within you crawls to the surface.
“Ooo. How assertive of you.” He laughs gently and leans in closer, hand hovering near your shoulder. “You haven’t given me an answer though,” he pouts and sends you a puppy-like stare, “I might grant you your wish depending on what you say~”
You roll your eyes, but smile giddily at him. “I like you as well, Keonhee. A lot. I’d love to go out with you.” Drawing closer, the distance between you is further diminished, your faces are inches apart. “Can I have that kiss now?”
“I didn’t know you could be so needy,” he teases, a whisper against your mouth. “But you’re still cute like this.”
Slowly he closes the remaining space, lips moving smoothly against yours as your eyes flutter shut. His hand behind you grips your shoulder tenderly, his other hand that remains atop yours drawing soothing circles on the back of your palm. As you both pull away from the sweet connection, he rests his forehead against yours, your eyes reflecting the same attraction you both hold for each other. You can feel the smiles that blooms on your features and underneath the warm weather and pink petals, share another kiss as you mark the beginning of the development of your relationship amid the season of awakening.

January (Month Survey #1)
Warning: These surveys are long. Take at your own risk.
National Days
Jan 1. National Hangover Day: What’s the worst hangover that you’ve ever had? The one after the last night I ever drank. That night was horrible. I got so sick and it was embarrassing and ugh it just ended up ruining the rest of the night. I still trip out because I honestly don’t recall drinking that much, but I got really drunk. I guess the drinking games made me lose track or something. Thank goodness for my best friend at the time who took care of me. I couldn’t really sleep that night cause I got sick a few times and just felt like shit and the rest of the day I just did absolutely nothing. I didn’t even want to look at alcohol for awhile.
National Bloody Mary Day: Do you believe in the Bloody Mary folklore? No, but I still don’t mess around with that kind of stuff.
Euro Day: Do you have any Euros? No.
National Black Eyed Peas Day: Do you like listening to the Black Eyed Peas? How about eating them? The group was cool, I liked a few of their songs. I’ve never had actual black eyed peas.
Apple Gifting Day: What’s your favorite type of apple – red, yellow, or green? I’m not an apple gal. Well, when it comes to the fruit. I love Apple products haha.
New Year’s Day: How did you celebrate New Year’s? My mom had to work until 11PM and my brother was at a friend’s house and was spending the night, so it was just my dad and I. We got takeout and watched the New Year’s Eve shows, but he ended up falling asleep a couple hours before midnight. My mom got home just in time to watch some of the New Year’s Eve shows before midnight and then we watched the ball drop, so at least I wasn’t alone. My dad slept right through it lol. It was a very chill night.
Jan 2. National Buffet Day: Where’s the best buffet in your area? The only buffet I liked was Mongolian BBQ. You put your noodles, meats, veggies, toppings, and sauces yourself and then they cooked it right in front of you on a big, round, super hot grill, so I felt comfortable consuming it. Other buffets where the food is brought out for everyone to have access to... yeah, no thanks.
World Introvert Day: Are you more of an introvert or an extrovert? Oh, I’m an introvert all the way.
Swiss Cheese Day: What meat do you typically eat Swiss cheese with? Ya know, I don’t think I’ve ever had Swiss cheese.
National Cream Puff Day: Do you like cream puffs? Have you ever made them before? Yeah, they’re good. I’ve never made them, I just bought them from the frozen food section at the store lol.
Run Up the Flagpole and See if Anyone Salutes Day: Have you ever tried to climb a flagpole before? No. I couldn’t do that even if for some reason I wanted to.
National Personal Trainer Awareness Day: Do you have a personal trainer? Nope.
National Science Fiction Day: What’s the last science-fiction novel you’ve read? The Hunger Games series several years ago.
Happy Mew Year For Cats Day: Do you prefer cats or dogs? Why? I’m a dog person, personally. I’ve always had dogs and I just vibe more with them. Mine have all been so loving and sweet and silly and pure.
National Pet Travel Safety Day: Does your pet do well during car rides, or do they hate it? She doesn’t like them.
Jan 3. National Drinking Straw Day: Do you use drinking straws at home, or only out at restaurants? I use a straw with everything I drink.
Festival of Sleep Day: Do you enjoy sleeping, or do you spend most of your time awake? I love sleeping.
Humiliation Day: When’s the last time you were humiliated? Why? Let’s not get into that.
National Chocolate-Covered Cherry Day: Do you prefer chocolate-covered cherries or chocolate-covered strawberries more? Strawberries.
National Fruitcake Toss Day: Do you like fruitcake? No. It just doesn’t even look appealing to me.
J.R.R. Tolkien Day: Have you read the Lord of the Rings series? What did you think of it? Nope. I’ve never seen the movies, ether. Just wasn’t of any interest to me.
Jan 4. National Missouri Day: Do you know anyone who comes from Missouri? Well, not from there, but my dad lived there growing up and I have family out there now.
National Spaghetti Day: Is spaghetti one of your favorite Italian dishes? Yessss. Spaghetti and meatballs, specifically.
National Trivia Day: Do you enjoy playing trivia games? Any in particular? Yeah, those like Trivial Pursuit and Scene It.
World Braille Day: Do you know anyone who can read Braille? No.
World Hypnotism Day: Have you ever felt hypnotized before? Can you describe it? No.
Jan 5. National Screenwriters Day: Have you ever written a play or some other sort of script before? Nope. I’ve written short stories and fan fiction, though.
National Whipped Cream Day: Have you ever used whipped cream for sexual purposes? Nope.
National Keto Day: Do you or anyone you know follow a ketogenic diet? Not that I know of.
National Bird Day: What’s your favorite type of bird? Hummingbirds are neat.
Jan 6. National Thank God It’s Monday Day: Do you actually prefer Mondays to Fridays? Why or why not? The days are all the same to me now, but back when I was in school I always dreaded Mondays.
The Epiphany (Three Kings Day): Do you celebrate this holiday? No. I had to Google that because I had never heard of it before.
National Bean Day: What’s your favorite type of bean? (ie: baked, lima, green, etc) Refried beans.
National Technology Day: What’s your favorite piece of technology that you own? My laptop and phone.
National Shortbread Day: Have you ever eaten those Trefoil Girl Scout shortbread cookies? Yep. I love shortbread cookies.
National Cuddle Up Day: Who’s the best cuddler you know? My doggo.
Jan 7. National Bobblehead Day: Do you own any bobbleheads? Of who? I have a Chewbacca one.
National Tempura Day: Have you ever tried tempura before? Did you like it? I’ve had chicken and vegetable tempura, which is really good.
Old Rock Day: Would you be interested in digging for fossils? Only when playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons haha. That’s part of my character’s daily routine.
Jan 8. National Argyle Day: Do you own any clothing with argyle print? Nope.

Chapter 7 The curtain rises.
It's been three years since the Uchiha massacre, since the events that made your life crumble apart like a cookie crumbling in milk. You will gladly use another simile to summarize those three years but it had seemed so easy, you know? How a couple of events could just dismantle the life you knew in the span of a several months. Human life is just so fragile.
You never found out the cause of Shisui's death and after you confronted Itachi about his death that one time, he massacred his entire clan. You heard news. The entire Uchiha District, completely wiped out. Civvies and shinobi alike. Dead. His parents too.
The village shook at the news, but it was just swept under the rug. And people didn't seem to make a big deal out of it. Just a snap of a finger, and the main civvie population of the village just forgot that the Uchiha clan ever existed. The genin kids from civilian backgrounds never even knew the details behind the Uchiha, just that they were once a powerful clan in Konoha and one day, they were gone. Like you said, the big, pink elephant in the room was swept under the rug with relative ease.
In three years, all that the Uchiha clan stood for was forgotten. Their holiday stamped out from the map and renamed into the Festival of Fireflies. Their Clan grounds burnt to the ground, all that's left is just a shadow of the grandeur of the district that it used to have. All that is left of the Uchiha is a boy, a broken shell of what he used to be. The younger brother of the butcher himself, Uchiha Sasuke.
All the other clans panicked after realizing it was the prized prodigy of the Uchiha clan that lead them into their misfortune. You don't really know what the other clans did, but the Yamanaka reeled in the leashes of all the shinobi in service under their clan banner. You were not exempt from this. One of father's close aides shadows you around everywhere, and you couldn't skip Kunoichi class anymore. So you've been obedient in attending all your classes.
Everyone; the clan-sponsored orphans, kids of the branch families, staff of the Torture & Intel Bureau (it's a fact that everyone in there is in the palm and pockets of the Yamanaka Clan) and you, had to go under various psyche and mental health evaluations, provided by the Clan's best doctors and researches. Since the Yamanaka clan specializes in the mind and psyche, it makes sense that they have their own private research facility.
Beneficial pieces of research do trickle down to the General hospitals but most of the stuff that they are researching aren't really appropriate for medical use. ____
You sit there, by the side of brother's hospital bed, his meticulously bandaged up hand in yours. It wasn't as big as you remembered anymore, it was only half as big as it used to be. Your hands were no longer small and child-like, instead they are full of callouses and scarred knuckles.
The short sword that Shisui gifted to you is no longer in use, now a decoration. A reminder. A trinket of the past. You possess the hands of a fighter now, the hands of a shinobi. Your copious use of hand cream doesn't prevent the roughness of your palms.
Mother had to pry the white sword from his cold, clammy grasp when he checked in, courtesy of Hound. It now sits on a worn out weapon display beside the front door. You hear that it didn't want to leave brother's hand until Mother separated the cord-string from the hilt. Suddenly you are reminded of that time at the Deer Festival a couple years ago. You remember Brother's bright smile.
He's in a coma. Has been ever since Hound brought him back from the incident with the bright white light. He tells you that Brother skirmished with someone during the Uchiha Massacre.
Tears pool in your eyes as you tighten your grip on Brother's fingers. There is no trace of white in his hair anymore. And it's much more longer now.
The doctors and Mother says that there's no hope of him recovering. Your eyes grow hot and prickly at the thought.
You hear a rustle on your right and you wipe your hot, prickly eyes with one swift motion. Hound moves in his seat, turning a page of his orange novel. Three years is enough to change your perception of this man.
"Hound, stop reading your ero novels in front of a minor." You say, giving him a disapproving look.
"Stop calling me Hound then." He retorts with a lazy drawl. He looks tired. Like, you know. Tired. Like he’s aged a lot more than the amount of time that actually passed.
You just let out a sigh and turn your attention back to Brother.
Hound was a cold, effective and ruthless shinobi in the past and he showed it. This Hound however (he insists that you call him by his name) is lazy, tired, gives pathetic reasons whenever he's late (which is always) and a huge weirdo with a kink of reading dirty novels in public.
This Hound still has the qualities of his old self but he carries himself in a different way now.
"Hey Hound? "
"Don't call me that. What is it?"
"How long have you known Brother?"
Hound pauses to think, an eye veering to the upper left as he searches his memories. "About seven years, give or take." He counts down with his gloved hands, "Yeah seven."
Hound now wears his hitai-ate to cover his scarred eye and a Konoha-style flak jacket, instead of his ANBU clothing. Everything else is black or a dark navy blue. The wrinkles around his eyes are more noticeable now. When you say wrinkles you meant the creases. Not actual wrinkles. Though his silvery hair does give him an illusion of being an old fogey (if Hound knew you call him that sometimes in your head, he'd probably not be very amused).
Or maybe he's just tired, you can't tell.
You count mentally in your head if it all lined up and it did. Seven years huh. He stayed in Brother's shadow for seven years because of the sword. Seven long years.
Will he be your shadow you once the sword is yours? You didn't want to think about that. It's way too soon.
You know Hound visits your brother during the weekends and sometimes during his free time, which made him a good guy in your book. You also see him visiting the memorial stone if he's not there by Brother. You'd need to search it up later. His name. You kinda hate not knowing the identity of your future guard dog. And his abilities.
Hound audibly flips another page. Then the silence settles and the both of you just sit there. By Brother's bed. ____
Sasuke Uchiha is a completely different person now, you think as you observe his shurikenjutsu from the trees. He is no longer the bright, outgoing little boy with a very competitive streak. He is, however, still competitive.
Ting! Ting! Ting!
The shuriken bounces off each other and they change their trajectory to hit the square targets, all queued up in a straight line, one behind another. It's a pretty impressive feat to be able to bend all those stars and make all of them hit.
Sasuke lets out a breath of air that he had been holding and throws one in your direction.
You narrowly dodge it and jump down to a clear area beside him. Sasuke's expression turns unto a guarded one and you immediately put both of your arms up in a mock surrender. He looks into your eyes.
"Not here to ambush you, just wanted to ask you if you'd like to come over for dinner." This is the nth time that you asked him. You throw a punch at him and he catches it with his fist.
You are ambushing him, He thinks.
"How is your brother?" Sasuke asks after minutes of contemplation. He's deflecting, you notice. Two can play at that game. His grip on your clenched knuckles tightens and he twists hard, flipping you over to your side.
You press the issue even more, "I'll make your favourite." Your eyes show him how determined you are to get him to eat dinner at your place. You were more calm than Sasuke anticipated and your form flickers from his vision, only for you to appear behind him with a blade to his neck. Ah, you've gotten better at shunshin, he notes. The blade you're using isn't your family heirloom. Its Shisui's ninjato. His gift to you.
"No." His tone is flat and uninterested. Sasuke holds his breath. He didn't even hear the tachikaze. You've gotten faster. Sasuke holds out the handsign for Kawarimi and feels a pull on his entire body, his body pops out from a distance away. He replaces himself with a nearby boulder.
"Tomato pasta." Your tone is equally flat and uninterested. You focused as much chakra as you can in bursts with each step you take, angling your blade to pierce him.
"No." Sasuke deflects your blow with a kunai he pulls out from his pouch.
"Curry with tomatoes. Lots of tomato-" You swing again.
"No." He blocks. He drops his kunai and grabs your wrist with both of his hands. And uses the leverage he has to throw you over his shoulder.
"Grilled salmon with lots of tomatoes in your miso soup." You twist your body in the air and land on your feet, holding your blade up in a defensive stance.
He pauses for a second. Just a second. You know that you're getting to him. "Wrong type of fish. No."
"Onigiri with bonito flakes, sun-dried cherry tomatoes and grilled tuna with a large serving of tomatoes."
Sasuke's stomach let out a loud growl and you know you have him in the palm of your hand. "Y-yeah? I don't need your pity." He crosses his arms against his chest and you feel his hostility drop.
You just give him a sad smile, sliding your blade back into the sheath behind you. "He's fine, thanks for asking. Let's spar again after, okay? You can use that fireball jutsu you've been practicing."
Ah there it is, your true intention of inviting him over. You want him to help you out with chakra control, his is much more better than yours. At least this is much better than your other plans that involved threatening to let Ino loose on him.
"Heh, you've gotten better mouse." Sasuke's face transforms into a cynical smile. He catches on pretty fast. This time it held no condescending tone, not like that time he beat you down at the academy. He turns around and catches you off-guard when he knocks you to your back with his forearm pressed onto your neck.
And you did get better. All the books you studied about the psyche helped. And you knew his favourite foods. And what makes him tick. Or at least you think. Sasuke sees that you have that same look that you had back when you ran from him before the massacre. He caves in easy when it came to you.
"If I can't beat you in taijutsu, why not something that I'm good at?" You smile. It doesn't reach your eyes. The pressure of his arm is choking you.
Sasuke just lets out a soft heh and sighs, he gets up and drags you too your feet. He's known you for this long that he could pick up on your tells. And you made him feel somewhat normal, like the massacre didn't happen. For a while. The only person he has good associations with of his past.
"You're a big idiot. You'll never get better at taijutsu, you don't have the strength to parry most of my hits." He says. You know exactly what he's talking about.
He sticks his hands into his pockets and walks toward the direction of your house. You follow him wordlessly.
Sasuke finishes all the food that you cook for him, right down to the last morsel and lingers at your place a little longer after your spar (he uses the neck grab thing on you again, that bastard.)
____
You wake up with your hand outstretched towards the hilt of that blade in your house and you hear it sing. The sharp vibrato of the metal blade sings. It rings in your ears loudly, making you fall into a deep trance.
Then Mother's hand is around your wrist. She wakes you up by calling your name.
"It's happening again, " Mother lets out a shaky breath, "It's happening." The light from the moon shines on Mother in such a way that she looks more aged and tired than you last remember.
This isn't the first time it's happened. It started the night right after Brother checks into the hospital and the blade. You wake up all confused just standing there. Right before the sword.
She's mounted right up there, paper seals littering the outside of her wooden sheathe. And she sings, just like how she's singing now. Like she's calling out to you. To reach forward. To touch her.
Mother puts both her eyes around you and embraces you in tight hug. The one time she shows you motherly affection is after she made it sound like you were going to die. It's ironic.
"She's going to choose you. Of course she is. You're the only one left." Mother whispers under her breath. You aren't sure if she is talking to you or to herself.
"What's going to happen to me...?" All you could do is narrow your eyes into small slits, they were burning.. The helpless feeling from before bubbles up in your throat. You didn't have a choice then and you didn't have a choice now. There is never one, you realize that only now. For you, choice was always an illusion. Mother sits you down to tell you everything. And you are in for a long night. Finally you know why Mother and Brother both refer to the sword as Her.
____
You’re the last one to arrive in your class, with a large, white sword that’s way too big for you. The moment you enter the classroom, all eyes are on you. Ino sits at the middle-top row, mouthing angrily at you about 'Sasuke' something, something. Shikamaru and Choji are beside her. The Nara boy mouths something else at you, then shakes his head angrily before signing and gesturing at you with hasty hand motions. Talk later. Important.
Shikamaru had caved in and just learnt sign-language from his father because he was tired of whenever you weave your fingers in signs when you're angry and you didn't want to talk.
Choji just nods and gestures as if to say, what he said. The long talk from Mother still weighs heavily in your head so you just nod at their direction and you just slide into the nearest seat. Which happens to be in between Naruto and Inuzuka Kiba. Kiba wolf-whistles as you slide past, "Heyyyy Mousey, lookin' good." Akamaru, his dog, barks in affirmation. You choke audibly as your eyes widen. You are ten. He is ten. Everyone is ten. How on earth did he think that wolf-whistling a little girl is appropriate?! Granted that he is a dog boy, but that doesn't mean he has to behave like one. A blush rises to your cheeks as you hasten your movements. Naruto just greets you with a loud smile and wave. How can a smile be so loud? But that's just Naruto, everything about him is loud. Like his orange jumpsuit. "I meant your sword! Your sword!" Kiba emphasizes on the sword part in a whisper-shout and gestures at the blade by your hip, then turning away to the shy-looking girl beside him to chatter away, with a hint of pink on his cheeks. You just settle into your seat and ignore the two noisy boys beside you, one of them is trying to get your attention. Naruto chatters on about his dream of becoming the Hokage, which you doubt at this point, but you hold your tongue. Just smiling and nodding when appropriate. You don't think Naruto notices that you are kinda zoning out at this point.
You feel sorry that you aren't listening to the Uzumaki boy as much but you needed to think about the things that Mother finally revealed to you about the sword. which is yours now. Her weight is heavy by your waist, but you'll grow into her soon. The Uchiha boy sitting in front of you just smirks audibly with a loud heh. You know this is his way of laughing at you.
Iruka-sensei steps into the classroom five minutes later and begins his lesson. You sneak Akamaru a few pets before concentrating your focus on Iruka's particularly interesting lecture about chakra transformation.

No Sooner Met
Summary: Royal AU. Princess Elizabeth of France is forced to marry the future King of England, Forsythe Jones the Third to stop a war between their between their two countries but their first meeting does not go as planned. Based on this post.
Words: 2,668
Warnings: A brief sexual situation.
A/N: I was heavily inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet. I know some people, @jandjsalmon , have been asking for this fic and I thought I’d take a shot at it. I hope some of you like it. I’ve never written anything like this so if might suck.
This isn’t even remotely accurate historically and a few of these lines are Shakespeare’s not mine.
I also edited myself so there are probably mistakes.
“I do not wish to marry him mother!” Princess Elizabeth of France wailed as her plump lady in waiting, Jonet, laced her into her dress. “I do not love him!”
She was the eldest daughter of Henry Cooper, the ruling King of France. To quiet rising tensions between the French and the English she was set to marry the next King of England, Forsythe Phillip George Edward Jones the Third. Elizabeth knew little of him but what she did know she didn’t like. Promiscuous, entitled, egotistical.
“That is not what this is about, Elizabeth.” Queen Alice of France, scolded as she helped pin up her daughters flowing blonde hair. “Our kingdoms are on the verge of war, children of French and English blood will stop that war.”
“I want to marry Duke Archibald! He is of noble birth, he would make a fine husband!” Tears ran down her face and Jonet blotted them with a handkerchief.
“For a Countess possibly, but not for a Princess and future Queen!” Alice roared, pulling on her daughters hair. “You will meet Prince Forsythe, you will be pleasant, you will be ladylike, you will be of the nobility you were born into. You will entertain him at the masquerade tonight, you will be married and you will provide him with heirs.”
Elizabeth stood looking at herself in the mirror. The light lavender dress fashioned for this night was beautiful and different from any dress she had ever worn. The type of ball they were having required costumes so something a little less formal would not be frowned upon. The material was lighter and allowed her to move more freely than the heavier satin dresses she was used to wearing. White lace outlined the bust, sleeves and hem. She looked beautiful, glowing even, as her mother came up behind her.
“Don’t you want me to be happy?” Elizabeth asked.
Alice sighed. “My beautiful girl, happiness is something that people like us cannot afford. We live in this luxury and our penance is to make sure we keep our people alive. This marriage will do that.” Alice accepted an ornate gold tiara from Jonet and placed it on her daughters head. “Heavy is the head that wears the crown.” She planted a kiss on Elizabeth’s cheek and when her mother had left the room, the Princess began to sob.
Prince Forsthye was bored and annoyed. He had been traveling to Paris for so long he could hardly remember what London looked like. There were no women travelling with him that struck his fancy and all there was to do was listen to his mother drone on about his duty.
“You will marry this girl, Forsthye.” Queen Claudia of England told her eldest son. “While France needs this merger more than we do, we cannot afford to go to battle again so soon after the last war. There will be rioting in the streets.” She huffed re-adjusting her gown.
“Do they have anything in Paris other than fields?” He whined.
“We aren’t in Paris yet.” She leaned forward. “Your father is not well Forsthye, he has a sickness he cannot shake and when he takes his last breath our country will look to you to lead. I don’t care if you ever love her but you will take her as your wife because a king does what needs to be done.”
His father of the same name was traveling in a separate carriage resting for the party that night. King Forsythe the Second was looking paler by the day and the Prince knew his mother was right. Forsythe would be king soon, much quicker than he would have liked.
The party was something he was looking forward to though. He had met French girls before and knew they were without shame, willing to do anything to please him. He would meet his future wife and then go and find a good time.
They arrived in Paris within the hour and pulled up to a large lavish palace. People busied themselves carrying linens, trays of glassware, and fruits and vegetables in preparation for the affair that evening.
King Henry and Queen Alice were out front to welcome the English Royal family into theirs. The Prince’s future bride was no where to be seen.
Elizabeth had her royal robes draped over her dress as she peered into the ballroom which was packed full of royalty and nobility. They all wore outlandish costumes, each trying to outdo the other, every face covered in a mask.
She had told her mother that she wasn’t feeling well and would be late to the party. “Jonet, have you seen him? Duke Archibald, is he here?”
“M’lady, I have seen him, he is wearing a green mask with a diamond above each eye.” Jonet said, fussing over her.
“Did you speak to him? How am I going to get away to see him?” She growled in frustration. “I wish I knew this was my fate sooner. I would have kissed Archibald a little harder the last time we met." She looked away wistfully.
Jonet looked around to make sure they were alone. Her round cheeks pulled into a smile as she began pulling off Elizabeth’s robes. “Give me your crown.” She instructed.
“Jonet, what are you doing?” The young Princess asked in shock.
“You are too young to have this thrust upon you even though it will be so. Take tonight and kiss your Duke for the last time.” She smiled warmly. “What is it that writer you love so much says? ‘Go girl, seek happy nights to happy days.’”
Elizabeth took the mask she was being handed and tied it behind her head. She was smiling so widely her cheeks hurt. “Thank you, Jonet.” Elizabeth took off in search of the love she could never fulfill.
Once moving through the ballroom, it was even more full than it looked. There were hundreds of people there to welcome the English and Elizabeth could barely shove through the crowd. She was looking for her redheaded love while trying to avoid her mother.
She moved her head furiously until her eye was caught by a dark haired man staring at her. He was looking at her with a desperate need, as if she was the moon casting light and he a lost soul travelling by night. He was handsome, unlike any man she had seen. His skin was white and smooth like he was cut from marble. He had a carelessness exhibited through his simple, ill-fitting black and white wardrobe which she found fascinating. His lips were reddened with wine and parted, his eyes wide and blue. She noted a smattering of beauty marks on his cheek that looked like constellations, and in that moment, she wanted to trace the night sky.
Until a loud crash of silver and glass distracted her, she had forgotten where she was going and what she was doing. Shaking herself out of her trance and she darted away to find her Duke, pushing the stranger from her mind.
Forsythe downed his second glass of wine as he milled around the room. He was furious he still had not met Princess Elizabeth. She was still in her room, ill with ‘lady woes’. Forsythe knew this was a farce, she did not wish to marry him any more than he wished to marry her.
“Has the Princess appeared?” The Prince’s confidante, Kevin, asked filling their cups with wine.
“No, she has not.” He scoffed. “A restless woman does not a happy wife make.” He commented, taking another drink.
“At least the wine is better here. What piss we have been drinking in England.” Kevin laughed. He was dress exactly like the Prince. Tight black pants, a loose white shirt and an open black jacket. His mask lined was simple and black.
“To hell with this Princess, if she does not have any courtesy for me, then I will show none for her.” Forsythe said forcefully. “Have you spotted any young, pretty things?” He asked.
Kevin looked across the room and made eyes with an angel faced man in a blue mask. “I sure have.” He replied with a smirk.
Then the Prince saw her; a vision in lavender. Her long blonde hair, half up, half down, trailing behind her as she darted across the room. Her head was moving around as if she was looking for or hiding from someone. She wore a lavender lace mask with three white feathers billowing from the top and in her frantic search, her eyes met his.
“Who ever loved that loved not at first sight?” He whispered to himself. He took a step towards her but a loud crashing sound distracted him. When he looked back to she where stood only moments before, she was gone.
“Did you see her?” Forsythe asked, bunching Kevin’s shirt in his hand.
“Who?” Kevin asked looking around the room.
“The goddess in purple, the one with the golden hair spun from the heavens itself. The girl with the skin like milk and lips like cherries. Did you not see her?” He spun to his friend and with desperate eyes. “Was she not real?”
“I do not know, your Highness.”
“I must find her.” He finished his drink and handed Kevin his cup. “If my parents ask, say you have not seen me.”
Kevin nodded and Forsythe took off in the direction of the last place he had seen, what had to be, the most beautiful girl in the world.
Elizabeth was beginning to panic. She could not find him, the man she had been dreaming off every night when she went to sleep. She had to say goodbye to her beloved Duke Archibald.
She ducked into an alcove to catch her breath. “Where could he be?” She said aloud before she heard the sounds of moaning coming from around the corner. She peaked around the wall and gasped. There he was, Duke Archibald, with his signature red hair and moustache, a green mask on his face, a diamond above each eye. He was sweating and his eyes were closed, a dark haired harlot on her knees in front of him, doing things that only a wife should do.
Elizabeth ripped her mask from her face and covered her mouth to stifle a sob. “Oh, what dare men do!” She stated, heading back to the party with the intention of getting a drink to wash the fowl taste from her mouth. To make her forget she ever thought she could have a future with the Duke. She believed Archibald would ask her to run away with him and start a quiet life in the country. This would never be the case.
She was going to meet her Prince; any distraction was better than the pain within her chest. If Archibald could pretend to love her, she could pretend to love her future husband.
Her dress flowed around her, the feathers from her mask tickled her arm as she headed towards her the ball.
“Stop!” An English voice shouted at her.
She shook her head and wiped under her eyes, putting her mask back on. “Yes, what?” She answered, turning to look at who was summoning her. She knew she wouldn’t recognize him, his accent was English, he was with the party of people that came with her future husband.
She shouldn’t have recognized him but she did. He was the handsome stranger she has locked eyes with him earlier. Now that she was closer to him the effect he had on her before hit her tenfold and she felt short of breath.
“Hello.” He said, approaching her cautiously.
Elizabeth curtsied and bowed her head. “Bonjour.” She responded.
"A French girl." He mused. “Do you have a title, m’lady?” He asked.
In a split second she decided to lie, to be someone else for the rest of the night, her last night. “No, I’m one of Princess’ ladies in waiting.”
“You’re clothes say other wise.” He grinned taking a step towards her.
“The Queen wanted us all to look our best, for the English, for you.” She motioned towards the man and lowered her head.
“Certainly not for me, I am only an attendant of the Prince.” He took another step towards her.
She knew he was lying. No attendant would be able to stray as far as he had. He was probably a friend of the English family and just was trying to charm her, she would be a liar if she said it wasn’t working. The Princess went along with his lie. "What is the Prince like?" She asked gliding towards him, hoping she could get any information out of him.
He smirked, a lock of his raven hair falling in his eyes. “Well, he’s handsome and when he becomes king he’ll have a palace. Bigger than this one.” His comment was dripping with arrogance.
"He sounds incredibly pompous." She crossed her arms over her chest, pushing up her bosom.
The stranger lulled his head from side to side. "He can be."
"Is he kind? Is he caring? What do you have to say of his character?" She demanded, taking another step towards him.
The man’s facial features softened. “I think he wants to be but he can’t always be. His position doesn’t always allow for it. He wants to a good man but sometimes he looses sight of what's important."
“Do you think he’ll make a good King?” She asked, looking up at him. She hadn’t realized how close she was to him. He was taller than she originally thought.
“I do not know.” He whispered, running his fingers up and down her bare arms. "I saw you earlier, what were you running from?" He asked.
"I had to retrieve something for the Princess." She lied.
"Did you manage to find it?"
She shook her head. “No, she lost something that won't ever be found again." After talking to the stranger she was having a hard time remembering why that made her so sad.
"Don't underestimate something new." He whimsied, placing one hand on her waist and taking her hand in the other. They began to dance to the faint music in the empty corridor.
"The musicians are quite good here." The man commented.
"Only the best for this night." Elizabeth swayed with him shocked at how comfortable she was in his arms, all her worries seemed to be fading away, a swelling in her chest. ‘Is this what Juliet felt like when she saw her Romeo?’ she thought.
He brought his hands to her neck, his fingertips ghosting over her delicate skin. “I did not believe in heaven until this night, for now an angel stands before me.” He breathed.
She sighed, allowing herself to give in, to let something new heal old wounds. Her head fell back and her eyes closing. "Love should not be this sudden. Love like this only comes to the lucky few, to characters in books."
When he brushed his lips against hers she did not push him away. She put her hands on his waist and pulled him closer. He tasted like wine and smelled like the soap they made at the palace. His lips were soft and the stubble on his face rubbed against her sensitive skin. She moaned into his mouth.
“Princess Elizabeth!” Jonet called startling the two of them. They broke apart and the man stared at her with wide eyes full of shock.
At the exact same time a man around the same age as the stranger in front of her appeared. “Prince Forsythe!” He shouted jovially. “I have been asked to come and find you, dinner is about to be served!” He grabbed his arm and started pulling him towards the party.
Jonet took Elizabeth’s hand and tugged her in the same direction. “Your mother is on the war path. Prepare yourself young lady.”
The future King and Queen of England did their best to maintain eye contact with each other as they were dragged back to their realities.
“Prince?” Elizabeth exhaled in disbelief.
“Princess?” Forsythe said, realizing his greatest love and greatest burden were one in the same.”

Can you tell me stuff that makes you happy? I've had a rough day and am feeling pretty down. -🍒
Oh gosh! I’m so sorry! Of course!
(I’m not gonna lie, this is gonna be a pretty long list!)
What makes me Happy:
Fluffy
Tom Hiddleston (and ANY of the characters he acts as–especially Loki)
Loki
Writing and singing!
Writing a paper for class and completely demolishing it!
Singing for people who have never heard me sing before and making them cry/feel something.
Mythology (namely Greek and Norse)
Getting new books!
My friends!
Disney!
Going to the airport, that rush of adrenaline that you get knowing you’re travelling and you’re gonna have an awesome time and gain new experiences!
Autumn and Spring!
Flowers! (Namely roses, baby’s breath, and white daises)
History in general! But what I love is the time of the Vikings (so like…8th-9th century beginning) and the Victorian-Edwardian era of Europe!
Crystals! (Citrine, Silver and Rainbow Moonstone, Emeralds, Rose Quartz, Clear Quartz, and there’s one that I absolutely love, but I don’t know the name of! It’s a black stone, but in it, it looks like captured stars!)
Shiny rings and necklaces! I like shiny stuff.
Really, really old books–like, the kind where the pages are turning orange and the cover is worn out and cracking; it shows that someone really loved that book enough to hold onto it and read it again and again!
Peppermint vanilla mocha!
Milk chocolate ANYTHING
Macaroons and brownies and cheesecake, oh my!
Marble–usually white marble with grey veins–but I absolutely adore it and I want it everywhere in my future home!
Big windows letting in bunches of natural light!
Hot showers after a really long day, getting out and feeling clean and ready for bed!
Alternatively, cold showers after working out, getting out and feeling refreshed!
The beach!! Laying out on the beach!! Sharks teeth on the beach!! The little shops at the beach!!
Crystal shops! (Good ones)
Organizing my little areas and checking off all of my responsibilities for the day.
Swimming to the bottom of my pool and those few moments when I’m just suspended in water, completely engulfed, and I see little bubbles involuntarily escape my lips or my nose!
Swimming in the later afternoons, when the sun is low through the trees and creates little broken waves in the water and I come up for air in a little pool of light! It’s almost like the sun is winking!
Looking through old pictures in giant bins we have (we’ve got like, four or five–plus or minus a few books–and they’re huge) because mom loved buying the disposable cameras when I was little! Going through them and remembering those moments–or being told stories of those moments.
Decorating for Halloween!! I would literally beg mom and dad in September to put up the Halloween decorations, and like, second week in they would always agree! I love setting it all up and then sitting down that night and watching the entire living room glow orange from the tree and the big, glowing pumpkins we have up!
Going for walks when it’s chilly outside and bundling up!
Blanket scarves!
Cinnamon-Sugar baked Pumpkin seeds!
Picking out the pumpkins after going on a hayride and trying to find the biggest one! (Or the biggest one that I can carry)
Learning about the Baroque composers and listening to their music ( J.S. Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, Telemann, Monteverdi, Albinoni, etc.)
Ivy climbing over older Victorian houses!
Chicken Salad! (Not with grapes in it–that yucky.)
Crab, Lobster, shrimp, salmon, flounder–and I feel guilty about this, but I’ve eaten mako shark before and it was good.
I love seeing squirrels, cats, hawks, deer, foxes out in nature!
People being nice to other people
Reading back over my own writing and rediscovering how good I was/am at it–not to be vain–but just like: “I wrote that?! What?! That’s too good!”
Harry Potter before everyone died.
Game of Thrones! (In this house, we are TARGARYENS. And, well, we also root for the Starks, buT THE TARGARYENS.)
Little day trips with my friends to the mall or out to eat somewhere!
Similarly, sleepovers with my friends where we stay up late and do fun stuff!
NEW YORRRRKK! And definitely Broadway and Times Square! Those bulbs and the buzz of activity and huge cool stores and new experiences always jazz me up!
Sherlock Holmes! And classic literature like Wuthering Heights, The Scarlet Letter, Emma, Candide, literally all of Shakespeare’s stuff (especially Antony and Cleopatra!) Frankenstein, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Dracula, The Journals of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde! Literally everything except for Mr. Dickens–he’s too sad for moi.
When it starts to snow and we go for a walk while the little flurries flutter down from the clouds!
Sitting down at night in the living room (and Fluffy sitting in my recliner with me–mostly because I steal her favorite blanket and put it on the end of the ledge…thingie…and she sits on it!) at night and watching our favorite shows–be that Forged in Fire, Last Chance U, The Defiant Ones, Game of Thrones, Alone, Broadchurch, or any other silly show we find ourselves watching! We have the warm glow light bulbs and we strung some Christmas lights over our ‘logs’ in the fireplace and turn that on too, so the whole room is just washed in this beautiful, warm, golden bath and it’s so, so cozy.
Going to little antique stores and finding something you’d never thought you would find–or never expected to find.
Really, really cold Diet Pepsi Cherry.
The fountain drinks from Sheetz that you can add Cherry and Vanilla to! I usually add a lot of both to it–usually to Diet coke–and get the bigger drinks!
Tater tots in a bucket from Sheetz!
Brewing spiced tea in a teapot
Bottling and organizing spices in the kitchen!
My William Shakespeare bust at my desk (he yells at me when I don’t write enough)
Finally laying down at night and daydreaming to fall asleep!
Eating little snacks–like some hoop cheese and an apple–for snack!
Going to my Grandma Bonnie’s house and then going out to lunch with her at the Graham Soda Shoppe and getting two hot dogs all the way and splitting a basket of onion rings with her! Then, hitting Tasty Bakery right next door and getting some yummy treats!
The hot chocolate at this one specific bakery on I-70; it’s the greatest I’ve ever had, I swear it! Nothing can top it!
During winter break last year, I was performing with a group of other girls and I got that hot chocolate before rehearsal, and then we sat and watched the few acts before us perform–the house was beautifully lit golden and it just made me feel at home.
France and England!
Taking bunches of pictures during the day, on outings, and then at night looking over them and laughing!
Hotels that serve warm cookies at night!
Peppermint sticks!
Dipping slices of warm hoop cheese in ranch–I always did it at my Pawpaw’s house when we’d have these big lunches, and then we’d all go swimming in his pool or lay around the living room–that always reminds me of those times.
Pineapple pizza! (No ham tho)
Going to the movies late at night and seeing an awesome one, then going to McDonalds and getting a M&M McFlurry!
Getting my nails done!!
Always having something yummy to eat at home
Mattress foam flip flops and my awesome swimsuit! (Er–it flatters my figure)
Shark Week!!!
Getting my makeup On Point.
Nerding out with other theatre/musical nerds in person and singing duets with them (because none of my other friends will sing with me). There was this one guy in my chorus I sang “All I Ask of You” with and it was SO GOOD; we loved it! Every time we saw each other I would be like: “Saaaay yoouu love me every waaaakeeeinngg mommennntt–” we were awesome and I really miss that.
Going to the theatre and seeing musicals with my mom–that’s always fun! Last time, we got these huge cupcakes since my blood sugar was low–I think we saw Matilda (it was okay).
Ironing my dad’s shirts for my mom so she doesn’t have to after she gets home from work.
The smell of sage burning
The smell of coffee being made–like, Tim Hortons and Harry & David’s coffee!
Doughnuts with chocolate icing on top and vanilla icing inside! (We call that the manager’s special)
Chick-fil-a sandwiches and fries!
Vanilla cupcake cookie goldfish!
Trying on an outfit for the first time (that you planned in your head the night before) and it looking even better than what you imagined it to be!
Lavender!
Those purple vines/flowers that bloom in the Spring and hang from trees!
Golden sunsets!
Cats doing funny stuff–or cute stuff–or just being cats in general!
Mother of Pearl inlays, pearls, and white fire opals!
People getting me flowers! (It’s only happened once, and they were given to all the Seniors, so I don’t know if it counts, but…I really loved it!)
Burgundy/wine red shirts!
Yellow/mustard shirts and dresses!
Velvet!
Red and gold stage curtains on a dark stage with remnants of ten different types of colored duck tape.
Crisp sheet music–clean lined and dark inked!
Alternatively, used sheet music–faded out a little, written on with pencil and once accidentally with pen, crinkled pages dog earred and maybe a staple or two barely hanging on.
The absolute applause after you know you just kicked ass on that song!
The confidence and the way my voice swells so powerfully when I perform!
Gold plated–or gold–anything.
Rocco/Baroque style decorating, clothing, anything!
Watching the clouds drift by when floating on the surface of the pool.
The trees finally turning color in the fall!
Riding around in the Impala (just make sure to put on some sunscreen!)
Downloading new songs to my phone and then really listening to them that night when I’m laying in bed daydreaming.
Ghost tours in old towns! (We’ve done Charleston, South Carolina; Wilmington, North Carolina; Savannah, Georgia; Charlotte, North Carolina; St. Augustine, Florida!)
Taking showers while the sun is still out and it’s kinda daytime!
Staying out all day with my friends and coming home when it’s kinda dark outside/driving home with my friends when it’s sunset.
Visiting/going to old castles and mansions! (Biltmore has been the best thus far!)
Curling up in bed on a really cold day outside, and feeling warm on the inside!
Making cookies/baking pastries in the oven and them turning out wonderfully!
That’s all I can think of right now–and my gosh–I know there’s more! I’m just so tired from all that travelling! I hope you feel better after this, my friend!! I wish you all happiness!!
Oh!! I forgot one!! My car, Pumpkin, and all other little minis make me happy!!

April 2019
"Hating things: it tended to tell you who you were. Loving things rarely did." / "Joni Mitchell was sitting in the doorway, placidly licking a paw, the feline equivalent of a bitch filing her nails." // Hermione Hoby's Neon in Daylight was such a good read, I thorougly enjoyed it. Hoby has such a nice writing style. I didn't know anything about the book when I picked it up from a library shelf, I just liked the cover and the blurb. Literary luck!
More books: Kurt. I don't know what it is about Sarah Kuttner's writing but it always hits close to home. I loved the description of the old house, the garden work. It made me want to move into my grandma's house with a sad boyfriend, watering the roses with a hose on a lazy summer evening.
Cat eating corn. Feline ASMR. I also spent an evening watching all of these oddly satisfying and soothing videos.
"Training war die Gelegenheit, den Körper an Schmerzen zu gewöhnen." (Takis Würger, Der Club)
Angela Carter's writing. Her characters, her plot-twists and magical realism. Most of all her incredible language. It's the same storyline I usually tell about my closest friends - at first I hated Nights at the Circus but soon realised that I actually loved it.
Fleabag and the priest. SO hot. As well as her jumpsuits and red lipstick. And don't even get me started on Kristin Scott Thomas' guest appearance.
My first time in Canada! I only visited Québec though and had to try my best to speak French in a comprehensive manner. Random moments, things and facts to keep in mind: Diet Cherry Coke obsession / my French improving noticably; learning about the Québecois accent / that bus we took on our way to Québec - it had a lounge area in the back with leather sofas, I kept thinking that a dance pole and a fancy drink were the only things missing / veggie or even vegan-friendly restaurants like Aux Vivres, Copper Branch, Lola Rosa, La Panthère Verte and - my favourite - Momo (who make vegan sushi with their very own scents and flavours; quite floral and very intense, super delicious of course) / getting to meet Emily (thanks, Manu!) and spending the evening with her and her roommate Frankie from London; I loved geeking out over Pixie Dust and Butterbeer in The Lockhart pub, quizzing each other with Harry Potter related Trivial Pursuit questions / meeting Mélissa Lefebvre and Paul Tom who presented their movie Bagages to us / the Canadians - very laid back, friendly, easy-going; I loved their individual looks, you really had the feeling you could come as you are and will always be accepted / of course I like the lumberjack-y vibes of many Canadian men - flannel shirts, bearded and long-ish hair - exactly my type / and I like how inclusive Canada is, at least in Montréal: they put an emphasis on gender equality; I met quite a few openly gay and trans people, too / visiting lots of small concerts (TEKE::TEKE, Les Breastfeeders, Ohmme, Bayonne, The Kalmunity Jazz Project) - I love how cheap the tickets are; I never paid more than 20CAD / my favourite vintage store in Montréal: Eva B. It's huge, and they serve vegan snacks! I got two pairs of Cowboy boots, a purple silk jacket and a green bandana / meeting a few friendly cats (one on the lap of a lady in a wheelchair) and an acrobatic gaga-squirrel / Montréal's architecture - the staircases, the stained-glass windows; all the street art, and of course the city's most enigmatic street, Boulevard Saint-Laurent / maple everything; maple-covered almonds, maple toffee, cookies, candy... unfortunately I usually only enjoy the first few bites, the sweetness is a bit sickening after a while; I even refer to maple toffee as diabetes on a stick / to contradict myself immediately: a weird obsession with Fruit Loops for breakfast (I blame the buffet... I never act normal around food if there's an all-you-can-eat option) / the Château Frontenac in Québec reminding my of the ending scene in 10 Things I Hate about You when Letters to Cleo is playing on the rooftop (in fact they filmed it in Tacoma though, at Stadium High School; but the building had originally been designed as a French château/luxury hotel before turning it into a school) / I didn't care much for Québec cité but our hotel was definitely a plus factor: there was a pool, a sauna and an outdoor hot tub so obviously we spent far too much time in the hot water, enjoying a cold beer, watching the old naked guy in the window across the yard watching us / almost being able to count the layers in the ice accumulating at the bottom of the Montmorency Falls - I think ice is such a fascinating, underrated material; maybe I should go to Iceland and find a good glacier (oh, and I didn't mind the rainbow there either) / a small indoor lake with a surface like a mirror-glaze cake / the huge drawings of a hut overrun by snails - almost like an oversized page of a graphic novel - at the biennale de Québec //
Starting to realise that I do have a plethora of skills and talents other people can only dream of; maybe I should start putting them to good use. Sometimes I notice how easy certain things are for me which also means that I take a lot for granted. I should be more grateful and appreciative, I suppose.
Celebrating my uniqueness. Is there a better place to start wearing freaky clothes and hairstyles than Montréal? Not really. Bless strange pigtails, 90's sunglasses and strong opinions.
The weirdest song has been stuck in my head for days now. They must have played it in that Tex Mex restaurant on Boulevard Saint-Laurent and I subconsciously remembered it?
Inuit art. I love their sculptures made from stone, bone and wood. I don't know if they're meant to be comical but if they are I absolutely appreciate the Inuit's sense of humour.
Getting tipsy on red wine and vermouth in the airport bar with Maxim and Martina. I guess the others thought we were stoned since they knew we had walked past a SQDC in Montréal in the afternoon. I liked spending time with Maxim, finding out about his personality and unexpected beliefs. Still waters run deep. We might actually visit the Buddhist Centre in Munich together. I wonder if they can finally teach me how to meditate. And Martina has a heart of gold. I hope we'll keep in tough. I hadn't expected that of all the people in the group those two would turn out to be the ones I'd click with.
Noticing how lush and green Germany is all of a sudden. I could already see the change from above looking out of the plane window. I like seeing this as a big difference after being gone for two weeks because I don't appreciate it quite as much when I see it happen gradually.
Coming home. Enjoying sweet solitude. Sleeping in my own bed. With heavy blankets. Enough space. The perfect smell. So much better than hotel beds. Returning to my favourite breakfast routine (oats, apple, blueberries, nuts, almond milk) after gaining at least two kilograms on horrible breakfast buffets and poutine.
The insane amount of wisteria growing along a neighbour's balcony and house front.
My first time in Herkulessaal at Munich's Residenz - for a pretty special occasion, too. Chilly Gonzales playing together with some guest musicians. Gosh, I LOVE him when he's rapping. Such a talent. And a Canadian! He's actually from Montréal. What a coincidence.

Characters : OC Character (Lady Brooke Redbird, and others), Scott McCall, Stiles Stilinski, Lydia Martin, Jackson Whittemore & I think that's it…..
*A/N : I wrote this a while ago and posted it to Quotev on my account their. This was what got me back into writing and has helped me with dealing with the death of my Mom and 3 uncles that happened in 2 years time. It is because of these that my ability to write has fluctuated over these past months and only worsens with my Mom’s 1st Anniversary coming up on May 23rd…..3 days after my own birthday on May 20th. I am wanting to continue writing and finish this story as I have it all planned out in my head, just gotta get it onto here. I will try to focus more on this series but I may jump back and forth between a lot as I tend to come up with ideas and want to write them down and share them with you all. So I hope you guys like this story, it does have a few similarities with my fav char on The Vampire Diaries, the Myth, the Legend, the Baddest Bitch of All…...Katerina Petrova aka Katherine Pierce!!! And it will contain story elements or plots of many TV Shows or movies I love throughout it. All of which I do not claim any rights to anything that does come from other works!! They are supposed to be just shoutouts and show I love their work. Lady Brooke is loosely based off Sophia Bush’s character on One Tree Hill. I love her on the show and she was easily my fav char!!! Well I hope you enjoy and I’ll add the next chapters when I can!!
Screams echo….
People running….
I’m can’t move….
I’m scared….
A man moves towards me with a smile….
I scream for help….
I jolt up, looking around, slowly breathing, calming down seeing the back of the limo, I sigh when a voice says to me,
“Lady Redbird, we have arrived in Beacon Hills and are 20 minutes from the Redbird Manor” my driver says,
“Antwan, for the last time please, call me Brooke” I say smiling at him then look out the window.
I look down to see I my travel outfit, black silk with lace trim tank top, black cotton sweater with a couple of buttons down up, black leggings, red flats, emerald and diamond bracelet and an antique black iron necklace attached with a square emerald crystal. My sweater is a little wrinkled from me moving in my sleep, so I slightly get up smoothing it out. Then I continue to look out to see Beacon Hills while memories flash in my head. I remember when this town was a village back in 1890 and when I helped fund the new school in 1941.
We pull up to Redbird Lane, which my family’s manor is located on. As the limo turns onto the familiar driveway, we stop at the gate.
“Antwan Delaver” Antwan says passing his ID to the guard, who scans it, nodding to let us in as he buzzes the gate open.
We drive on in, passing big beautiful willow trees blowing in the wind, all which I planted as seeds and helped grow. Arriving at the front doors to Redbird Manor, Antwan gets out and helps bring in my luggage,
“Thanks Antwan, go unpack, get some sleep” I tell him while giving him a hug,
“Sure thing Brooke” Antwan smiles as he walks back to the limo driving it to the garage, grabbed his luggage and then heads towards his room on the 2nd Floor in the East Wing.
I head on up the staircase at the end of the hall leading to a landing, that splits off towards the East and West Wings. I head towards my master room located at the other side of the stairs, in between the East and West Wings. I begin to unpack, as I buzz Shelia on the intercom,
“Hey, Shelia can you come to my bedroom for a minute?” I say sweetly.
I am halfway unpacked as Shelia knocks on my bedroom door
“It’s open” I say putting new clothes I got while in my loft at Miami,
“Brooke, how was Florida?” Shelia says coming up to hug me,
“It was great, I loved the beach, especially all the shirtless guys” I tell her while smirking,
“And no shopping?” Shelia asks saddened,
“Well one must always make time for shopping” I say matter of factly,
“So how was my lovely assistant’s flight in the new jet?” I ask curious,
“You mean how much I love the new astronomically big jet”
Shelia smiles remembering her time on the jet.
I smile, happy that she was happy,
“So is the Beacon Hills High School’s Principal meeting me tomorrow?” I ask her.
“Yes, Principal Matthews will promptly meet you at 8:00 in the morning, I have already sent your grades over when I got here and already told him you were to start as a freshman as you were held back because of the homeschooling” Shelia tells me checking her cell phone smiling as she knows my grades and homeschooling are a lie,
“Thanks Shelia, your dismissed for the night, please tell the staff also.” I say in my closet looking for something to sleep in.
I finally decide on some new sleepwear for tonight, which all I got from Miami. My emerald green silk satin chemise with luxurious bespoke embroidery. Matched with black ultra thin tulle, scalloped edge and leavers-lace trim pantie briefs. And my emerald-green liquid-like silk-satin and midnight-black whisper-fine Chantilly lace frame robe besides my bed if need be.
After changing, I check my cell, calling someone I haven’t called in a while,
“Cleo? How’s Egypt?” I ask,
“Great, Redbird Industries is up 5% here” Cleo states,
“I miss you. I arrived back to our home” I say sitting on my king sized bed,
“I miss you too Brooke, I miss home” Cleo says at little sad,
“Maybe we should move up our yearly meet to next week?” I ask,
“I can after my fundraiser next week, but you know Amara hates short notice, she loves the Amazon too much” Cleo says laughing with me as we know how Amara will react,
“I’ll call Amara, but you have to call Mariko” I say playfully,
“Ugh come on, you know Mariko is still mad at me for Jason!” Cleo says a little annoyed,
“You two need to patch things up anyways, it’s been two years” I say lying on my emerald green fleur-de-lis and black background polyester blanket.
Cleo sighs, “Fine, but who’s gonna tell Bethany?”
“I will, since I’m making you reconnect with Mariko” I say
“Okay, I need to go, I have a lot of paper work to finish” Cleo complains,
“You always wait for the last minute to do your homework” I say laughing,
“I so don’t miss highschool, I don’t know how you do it” Cleo states,
“I love school, it helps me keep human, but I need to go to bed anyways” I say sleepily,
“Okay, goodnight sister” Cleo says,
“Goodnight sister” I say then hangup, putting my cell on the bedside table.
I lay back, curling up under my blanket and everything starts to go black as I drift off.
I wake up hearing a knock on my door,
“Yes” I sigh,
“Brooke, breakfast will be ready in an hour” Shelia tells me through the door,
“Thanks Shelia” I say sitting up yawning.
I get up putting on my emerald robe and walking to my bathroom, using the sink to splash water on my face. I turn around, walking to turn the shower on, then pick out a playlist to listen to. Eventually deciding on Bethany Joy Lenz, I walk over to hook up my cell to my stereo and play my music. Returning to the shower, taking off my robe and clothes, hopping in. After 15 minutes of singing along to “Elsewhere”, “When the Stars Go Blue” featuring Tyler Hilton, “Halo”, “Feel This” featuring Enation, “I Want Something That I Want” featuring Grace Potter and “We Belong”.
I get out and put on my robe, heading to the walk-in closest to pick out my outfit for the day. Looking through my clothes, I decide on a underwire strapless seamless bra, bowknot scalloped zigzag pattern lace brief panties, wine red polyester knee-length off the shoulder 3/4 length sleeves with lace fit and flare ball gown dress. I then put on my makeup, a black smokey eye with flared out eyelashes, blood red lipstick with bright lip gloss and blood red nail polish with a clear coat.
I decided on my emerald antique necklace, pear-shaped emerald with sterling silver ring on my right ring finger, emerald and diamond with sterling silver bracelet on my left wrist and square emerald with sterling silver earrings. I just let my reddish brown hair down and styled it so the ends feathered out.
I put on my black Louboutin six-inch ankle-heels, grabbed my wine red Prada tote purse, walk to my bedside table. Putting my black Gucci wallet and red Samsung Galaxy in my Prada tote purse, heading towards the door.
I eventually walk in the dining room, where on the side table is this beautiful breakfast. There's fruits, different types of eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, rice, sausages, oatmeal, cereals and yogurts. Milk, juices, water, mimosas and ice cubes in a bucket beside the food.
The big cherry wood dining table is set up with the red silk cover, white moth orchids in the center and red with gold fleur-de-lis porcelain plates.
I walk over to grab some watermelon slices, removed-calyx strawberries (calyx is the leafy steam), pitted-cherries, mango chunks and peach slices. Grabbed a core 16.5 oz. blanc wine glass, poured a special mix of port red wine and blood from a decanter. Bring my plate and wine glass to my spot at the head of west end of the table, sitting down starting to eat.
“So how's everyone doing with the move hear?” I ask taking a drink,
“Good, the kids have settled down just fine Lady Redbird” Miss Carlotta Byrd says, my Head Cook,
“Same here” Miss Slim Ventura says, my Head Maid,
“They love it out here in California”, my Stable Master McKenzie Hart says,
“Awe, does Haley and Seth liking their new school? How do Simone and Lana like the new mall? Is Ryan and Clark liking the school’s athletic department” I ask, eating a strawberry,
“Good, Haley and Clark are liking Devenford Prep, their favorite class is History” Miss Carlotta says eating some hash browns and scrambled eggs.
“Yes, Seth and Simone have settled in quite comfortably in their new rooms. Seth is trying out for the lacrosse team and Simone is loving the new mall” says Miss Ventura,
“Lana has already bought some new outfits for the year and Ryan is also trying out for the lacrosse team” Miss Hart tells me,
“We like to say thank you for putting in a good word so the kids will be in the same classes” Miss Carlotta tells me,
“Awe, no need you guys, you are family, hell, those kids feel like my nieces and nephews. You guys don’t know how much of appreciation I have for you keeping my family’s secret. Your families have been in service to mine for generations, I will do anything to repay the debt. As long as you love it here, I’m happy, you know why my family must constantly move. You know of the danger and yet you still stay here, so thank you” I say smiling.
I finished my breakfast when Antwan comes into the dining room saying,
“The limo is out front Brooke”,
“Thank you Antwan” I tell him as he turns walking back to the limo.
As soon as I get in the back,
“Head to Beacon Hills High School” I tell Antwan as he begins to drive.
We drive through town, passing buildings and houses as I am on my way to another new school year. I begin to remember the other new “first days”, remembering why I keep coming back to school….
“We are 5 minutes from Beacon Hills High School Brooke”
Antwan tells me,
“Thank you” I tell him, smiling at him.
I continue to look out the window, then after a few minutes, we end up driving onto the BHHS parking lot. As soon as we pull up to the school’s front doors, Antwan gets out and opens my door,
“Thank you, I should he fine until 3 o’clock” I tell him, giving him a hug then walking up the stairs towards the doors.
I walk past students staring at me with awe, smiling as I make my way to the principal’s office. As I am almost there, I walk past a very pretty girl with long strawberry blonde hair arguing with a very handsome guy with dark blonde short hair. Obviously an athlete as he was wearing a BHHS Jersey. I walk towards the principal’s door, opening it and walking in,
“Hello, I’m here to see Principal Matthews” I tell the secretary,
“Yes, hello Miss Redbird..” she was saying picking up the telephone,
“It’s Lady Redbird” I interrupt her,
“Oh, sorry, Principal Matthews is waiting for you” she says smiling apologetically while putting down the telephone,
“It’s fine, thank you” I say walking towards and opening the door,
“Hello Principal Matthews, I’m Lady Brooke Redbird, I’m sorry to say my parents couldn’t make it” I tell him while shaking his hand,
“Hello Lady Redbird, I’m sorry I won't be meeting your parents. I have checked your profile, I see you do well in your classes, and even have amazing letters of recommendations from tutors. And all of this while also running an worldwide company and hosting of many charities. You would be an amazing addition to BHHS, and we would love to have you” Principal Matthews says, smiling at me,
“Thank you, Principal Matthews. My parents have sent their regards along with a 500, 000$ check and asked me to offer the Redbird Manor to host a BHHS Fundraiser” I tell him, handing over the check,
“Oh no, that’s too much” he tries to say,
“No, we would love to. Besides, it’s not like my family can’t afford it, education is very important” I say smiling,
“Okay, thank you Lady Redbird, also tell your parents we are very thankful. So here is your class list for the semester, I am a little confused as to why someone with your caliber would wanna start out as a freshman in mid-year?” he asks confused,
“Its fine, I prefer to work my up to graduating normally instead of smart-jumping” I say taking my schedule,
“It’s been a pleasure, Principal Matthews.” I tell him standing up giving him a handshake,
“Welcome as always, Lady Redbird” he say shaking my hand, as I turn around walking out to the hallway.
I begin to look at the schedule, a little confused as I have no clue where my class was.
Brunch : 9:30 - 9:50
English : 9:55 - 10:35 in room 106
Chemistry Lecture : 10:40-11:20 in room 121
History : 11:25-12:05 in room 110
Math : 12:10-12:50 in room 117
Lunch 12:50-1:25
Free Period 1:30-2:10
Economics : 2:15-2:55 in room 120
I look at my cell, seeing it’s 8:20, I begin walking down hallways checking classroom numbers. I see classroom after classroom, students wondering the halls, and then I finally find my locker. Opening it up, I put some of my school stuff there, pens, pencils, booklets, some makeup and a mirror on the locker door. I close my locker, begin walking around the school. I was doing Redbird Industries work on my phone when I was bumped into by someone in a rush,
“Rude” I say as I dropped my phone,
“Oh my god, I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention. You must be new here, I haven’t seen you before?” this really cute guy with an uneven jaw asks me as he picks up my cell,
“Yes, I’m Lady Brooke Redbird” I say smiling grabbing my cell after he gives it back,
“I’m Scott McCall” he tells me giving me a smirk,
“Well Scott, I got a class to find, so have a good day” I tell him as I walk by,
“Well I could help you…” he begins as he grabs my arm which sent shivers down my body,
“Well, I do need to know where English 106 is?” I ask him while smiling still turned away from him,
“You need to go down the hall, turn right by those stairs, and it should be on your left” Scott tells me while still holding onto my arm,
“Ok, thanks, you have been a kind gentleman” I say as I slightly turn towards him looking at where his hand is still,
“No, problem, it’s the most I could do after running into you” Scott says while smiling, I look at him, seeing that his dark chocolate eyes sparkled a little in the sunlight, which then I realized how close we were to each other,
“Um….care to let me go?” I ask shaking my right arm giggling like a schoolgirl,
“Oh, right sorry, MiLady” Scott says with a serious tone with a hint of joking while smiling at me,
“Its fine, its just if I am to find my classroom, I kinda need my arm” I say laughing while turning to walk away as his smile made me feel butterflies and my arm feels weird without his touch,
“I can show you where the classroom is!” Scott says with a bit of excitement running up to stand next to me,
“I am a lady of House Redbird and ladies don’t need to be shown where to go” I say smiling at him as I turn forward to strut away from him.
I have this feeling of my plan to not be interested in guys will obviously not work out. Because the way that gorgeous dark brown haired, dark chocolate-eyed, uneven jaw guy smiled gave me the butterflies. The way his touch sent shivers down my body, the way I missed the feeling when he let go. Ah, hell, I giggled like a school girl in front of him, which I am not that type of girl. Scott McCall, you are by far the most hottest and a must-avoid guy here back home. All I know, is this time being home is definitely not gonna be boring.

30K Celebration: This Or That?
Missed yesterday’s Favorite Things About Me? Click HERE!
1. Lace or velvet? Velvet, and I’m not saying that just because I love red velvet cake….though that may have something to do with it.
2. Paperbacks or hard covers? Paperbacks. That way, I can bend it if I need to while reading.
3. Forest or beach? I prefer beaches; they feel safer to me. Sort of ironic because I can barely swim.
4. Thunderstorm or sunny? Thunderstorms. Bright sunshine hurts my eyes.
5. Vanilla or honey scented? That’s…that’s hard! Maybe vanilla? I really like the smell of honey, though…
6. Hair up or hair down? I almost always wear my hair down, unless my hair refuses to cooperate. I’d love to tie my hair in twin tails, but I just can’t do nice looking ponytails.
7. Moon or sun? 100% in support of the moon. And no, it’s not a phase.
8. Romantic love or platonic love? I think both are really important, but platonic love needs to come first in a relationship, I think.
9. Coffee or tea? I’m more of a tea person, but I do drink the occasional sweetened mocha.
10. Comedy or horror movie? Horror movies seem really…fake to me. They also make me really paranoid. So, I’d say comedies.
11. Chokers or necklaces? I’ve always liked chokers, but I actually wear neither.
12. Sunrise or sunset? Sunset! It’s often more colorful.
13. Chocolate or vanilla? Chocolate is where it’s at! Truthfully though, vanilla ice cream can be great when added to other things in my opinion.
14. Flannel or sweaters? Flannel, because I just have that flannel aesthetic.
15. Mermaids or fairies? I’m going to go with mermaids. I’ve always wanted to be able to explore the sea and swim without fear I’m going to drown. Being able to breathe down there would be so cool.
16. Books or movies? For some reason, most movies don’t capture my attention that well! I’d say books.
17. Roses, daisies or lilies? Hmmm…. I’d probably go with roses. I’m a sucker for roses.
18. Heavy sleeper or light sleeper? I am a light sleeper. It takes me about two to three hours to fall asleep. It…sucks.
19. Silent or white noise? If by white noise you mean fan (which I assume you do), white noise. My noisemaker helps me sleep significantly better.
20. Single pillow or many pillows? I have seven pillows on and around my bed. And no, that’s not because people with more pillows are often more depressed. Or maybe it is? Dunno. I just love pillows!
21. Scented candles or incense? Willing to say I go NUTS in candle stores, scented candles.
22. Blueberry or strawberry? Strawberry! It’s always been my favorite. It’s also my sister’s favorite…or was, until she became allergic to them.
23. Poetry or short stories? Poetry. I prefer my stories long! Speaking of stories, I’m doing camp NANOWRIMO this month. Wish me luck!
24. Sunny days outside or rainy days inside? Rainy days inside. It’s less depressing to be inside when it’s rainy. Also, we don’t get a ton of sun around here.
25. Coke or Pepsi? I hate to be controversial here, but I prefer coke. Pepsi is a little too sweet for my own personal tastes.
26. Stay in or go out on the weekends? I’m definitely a stay in kind of gal. My weekends are for recuperating from weekly stress.
27. Hugs or kisses? My s/o and I much prefer hugging. We have only kissed a few times. Truth be told, I don’t think either of us really know how.
28. Museums or zoos? I prefer zoos. Animals are cool. Also, museums are usually more expensive.
29. Dimples or collarbones? Collarbones! My collarbone is literally the best thing ever and I love it.
30. Cactuses or roses? I’m such a cactus. I’m not even going to lie. Also, cactuses are really cool and usually small. Like me.
31. Dress for comfort or for style? Comfort. As long as I feel good, I don’t usually care what others think
32. Erasing or crossing out things? I like to erase things, but I often cannot since I prefer writing in pen.
33. Eat all day or sleep all day? Sleep all day. I am in a constant state of tired.
34. Earth tones or pastels? Pastels. I’m cliché like that.
35. Lemon or lime? I guess I’d have to go with lemons, though life never gave me any.
36. Cloud watching or stargazing? As much as I prefer stargazing, it’s often really cloudy where I live. So, most of the time I watch clouds.
37. Kneesocks or thigh-highs? What kind of question is this? Kneesocks, duh!
38. History or mythology? While I love reading about history, mythology is way cooler.
39. Dark chocolate or milk chocolate? Milk chocolate. I am a wuss who doesn’t like healthier things.
40. Sweaters or hoodies? Willing to say I’m wearing a hoodie right now, hoodies.
41. Serious or light hearted? The weird thing is, I’m kind of both. It really depends on how comfortable I am around you (as well as my mood)
42. Early bird or night owl? Night owl. Being up early is….not fun for me.
43. Long hair or short hair? Everyone prefers me with short hair. I prefer keeping it long.
44. Cuddly or hands off? Overly cuddly. I need my affection.
45. Cherry or blue raspberry? I’m going to go with blue raspberry. It reminds me of one of my OCs. It’s also cool because it doesn’t exist in nature. Like, who came up with blue raspberry flavoring? What does it taste like? Blue? Nobody knows.
46. Pro or anti marshmallow? …people are anti marshmallow?
47. Strawberry or mint? I love mint! Especially if it’s mint chip.
48. Neat handwriting or messy handwriting? My handwriting is atrocious. Yes, I can write nicely. I just don’t care enough to slow down and do so.
49. Waffles or pancakes? Pancakes! …because reasons.
50. Orange juice or lemonade? I used to hate orange juice. I’m okay with it now, but I still love lemonade more.
51. Closed mouth smile or open mouth smile? For the longest time, I tried smiling with my mouth closed. Turns out I prefer smiling with my mouth open. Plus, you get to see my lil pointy teeth when I do!
52. Aliens or ghosts? Aliens! Ghosts actually terrify me ._.
53. Vampires or werewolves? Vampires. Seriously, have you seen girls with sharp teeth? Literally the best.
54. Ok or okay? Usually I use ok. Sometimes I don’t. And that’s okay. It really depends on the context.
55. Glass half empty or glass half full? I’m trying to become a glass half full person, but I’m definitely a glass half empty person. I’m pessimistic.
56. Dolls or stuffed animals? Stuffed animals are far better for cuddling.
57. Hot showers or cold showers? Always hot showers. I shower when I’m cold, so I need hot water to warm myself up.
58. Astrology or MBTI? I generally lean towards MTBTI, since my astrological sign changed when they added that one extra sign. I still consider myself an Aquarius (though I don’t really take either MBTI or astrology seriously; it’s just fun stuff to consider). As for my MBTI type, I’m an INTP.
59. Times New Roman or Calibri? Calibri. It has a nice name. Times New Romance…did I just type Times new Romance? Nice job, me.
60. Digital art or traditional art? While I doodle all day in my binder, I prefer to draw on my tablet. That way, I can erase my mistakes.
61. Starry Night or Mona Lisa? Starry Night ftw
62. Nutella or peanut butter? You can hate me all you want, but I like peanut butter better. I guess I’m not huge into hazel nuts (which are in Nutella).
63. John Cena or Rickroll? I can’t rickroll on my trumpet, so clearly the John Cena theme. No, really. It’s pretty easy to play, actually.
64. Windows or Mac? I come from a long family of Windows users. I have been born into my place already.
65. Hard pretzels or soft pretzels? I like my pretzels like me; soft. I do like hard pretzels, though. Just not as much.
66. Goldfish or Cheez-its? I love goldfish, to be quite honest. They’re always so happy.
67. Peaches or plums? I haven’t had a plum in ages, so I’d have to say peaches. I’ll have to try one again sometime soon.
68. Piercings or tattoos? It depends on the person they’re on.
69. Jumping in leaves or jumping in puddles? I jump in puddles a lot, to be honest. Do I immediately regret it afterwards? You bet.
70. Visual learner or auditory learner? I’m actually neither! I am a tactile learner-I have to be doing things to actually understand anything. This is because I space out very, very easily.
71. Shipping or casually being in fandoms? Actually, I’m neither. I like to stay as far away from fandoms as possible. Most of the things I like have very trashy fandoms. Even looking at fan art sometimes is a struggle for me. Come on, I just wanted fan art without THAT. Is that too much to ask?!?
72. Singing or dancing? I can’t do either, but I sing a lot.
73. Deep space or deep sea? Deep sea! Have you seen some of the creatures down there? They’re rad.
74. Board games or video games? Definitely video games. Board games usually require other people to play with you.
75. Wine or beer? Neither. My medicines are very reactive, so I avoid drinking.
76. Facial hair or clean shaven? I generally prefer clean shaven guys, but some people can really rock facial hair.
77. Sausage or bacon? I prefer sausage. In all due honesty, I’m not huge into bacon. Yes, I said it. Sue me.
78. Snakes or sharks? I think both are really, really cool. If I had to pick, I’d say snakes…but not by much.
79. Evening shower or morning shower? I shower at night. It’s a great way to calm down and relax.
80. Glasses or contacts? Have you seen people with glasses? Best.
81. Hardwood or carpet? Carpet isn’t cold on my feet, so definitely carpet.
82. Fiction or nonfiction? I prefer fiction. If I am to read, I want to immerse myself in a land of fantasy.
83. Jello or pudding? Pudding! I associate pudding with marching band trips, so I prefer pudding.
84. Early morning studying or right before the test studying? I usually cram study five minutes before a test. I have trouble remembering things, so studying is usually pointless for me.
85. Long nails or short nails? Due to my nervous habits, I often claw at my face. Having long nails doesn’t help with that.
86. Love letters or serenades? I love to sing to my sweetheart, who claims I have a good voice. I think this is an attempt to make me feel better about it lol
87. Long hugs or short ones? Long hugs. I love hugs. Hugs are the best.
88. Chamomile or lavender? I like lavender better, personally. It’s also more soothing to me.
89. Little spoon or big spoon? I am such a little spoon. Unfortunately, I am the little spoon that likes being the big spoon, but cannot.
90. Texting or calling? I prefer texting. Calling people isn’t fun. It makes me uncomfortable.
91. One episode per week or marathoning? Neither, really. I prefer to watch a couple each day and finish it in three or so days. I also like to take huge breaks before starting new series, especially anime.
92. Glitter or jazz hands? Okay, I like jazz hands. Glitter is cool, but I already have glitter in my life. I need jazz hands. Oh, and more cowbell.
93. Cake or pie? I prefer pie. I have no real reason for this. Cake’s okay, it’s just sometimes a bit dry. Maybe it’s my love for berries that makes pies more appealing. Or maybe it’s because the word pie is amazing.
94. Bowling or skating? Definitely bowling. I have skated (and ice skated) a couple times. All of them were disasters; I am too uncoordinated.
95. Pizza or pasta? Why must you make me choose? I love both! If I really had to, I’d maybe say pasta (since it’s a lot more versatile). That doesn’t mean I would give up pizza, though.
96. Nail polish or eyeshadow? Nail polish doesn’t usually get in my eyes, so nail polish.
97. Movies in the theater or at home? At home. That way, I can multitask.
98. Eggnog or hot chocolate? Hot chocolate! Eggnog is just okay, if you ask me. It’s also a seasonal thing-hot chocolate is usually all winter.
99. Hoods or hats? Hoods. I don’t look good in hats.
100. Private confessions or public anon confessions? You tell me! I’ll be doing confessions in a few days as well.
