So this brilliant post by @thatgordongirl goes through each instance of where a piece of info ghosts' lives is revealed in season 1.

And it sent me sprialing where I came to an important conclusion about Julian (okay minor but kinda huge in a way) that Julian by the shows own lore must have not have been an MP during the years 1987-1991. Which I find weird but actually makes a lot of sense.

That's the important part, but I'm gonna delve a bit deeper on my reasoning and explain a little of the British political system. (I'm a touch rusty as I've not done British politics in 4 years but still) if you want to skip the preamble explaining British politics go to the line "Between elections".

So Britain is a parliamentary democracy. Unlike America, in our national elections we don't vote for our president or Prime Minster or even a party, we are only electing our local MP. Each election we elect one MP to a have a seat in our House of Commons to represent our concerns in Parliament.

While the MP may be a member of a Political Party and vote in line with how the larger political party wishes them to do, we actually are voting for an individual MP. However, in practice most people vote for the candidate that represents the party that best aligns with their political views and is most feesiable to win and don't really care WHO is running for each party.

Britain's two main parties are The Labour Party and The e Conservatives, which are nicknamed Tories. Julian was a member of the Conservatives, hence the term dead tory politian. We also have other Political parties such as the Liberal Democrats, SNP and the Green Party which was Julian's daughter, Rachel's, political party. The Green Party is basically the opposite of the Tory Party. (Which is why Julian is at first confused but goes, hey they all can't be perfect)

So when he ran for position of MP he would have been Julian Fawcett for the Conservative Party.

And the only way we get a new MP in a seat is through the position becoming vacant or through a general election. The general elections between 1980 and Julian's death took place in 1983, 1987 and 1992.

Between elections the only way we get a new MP is either when an MP dies in office or has to resign. The term used is when the seat is vacant.

So why would Julian run for a by-election if he already had a constituency? If he was already an MP he would not had been eligible to run in a by-election. While he could have resigned, then ran again the reason for a politian like Julian resigning would have been due to scandal. It would be politically crazy to run and win the same by-election and unlikely.

Also Julian was an MP in 1986 (as we see above having put the Bramptons through MPs expenses) so probably ran and won his election in 1983 (the one with the slogan "oh not him" from the episode, The hardest word in season 4)

The only way him contesting a by-election in 1991 makes sense is if he lost or did not stand in the 1987 General Election. This may be due to a mryiad of reasons but prehaps something about his image in 1987 made him lose.

Although he may have not have run in 87 take up a different office such as mayor of an area like Boris Johnson or Sadiq Khan for London. However if he didn't stand for this reason and then lost the mayor race then he'd be eligible to run in 1991.

But again the simplest explanation is that he lost in 87

So the Julian timeline is:

Wins in 1983 election and has a term that lasts until the 1987 General Election where he loses his seat. (Prehaps due to the expenses stuff from 1986)

He then runs for the contested seat in the 1991 by-election which he wins and maintains until the 1992 General Election. This is also where Julian solves the crisis by starting a war.

He then wins the 1992 election meaning upon his death he is the MP who dies in a sex scandal rather than a former MP who dies in a sex scandal. Which also means he's triggered another by election.

He may have also been re-elected in 1987, had to resign for some reason and then ran again in 1991. But that's quite convoluted for a backbencher. (@partywithponies pointed out to me he's mostly likely to be a backbencher rather than a prominent MP which... Fair enough)

Or this is all nonsense and was not meant to read into this much. I genuinely thought it was a mistake at first but if this is the timeline this makes sense.

So yeah Julian might not of been an MP during the years 1987-1991 which is strange to think since MP is like half his identity. Also what did Julian do for those years he weren't an MP, he certainly wasn't rasing his kid.

On that point, for a politian who often has to care about his image, having a child between the two elections make sense, to help rebrand his image into a "family" man. It's kinda cynical but makes sense.

Sidenote: MPs arent techincally allowed to resign, Tom Scott talks about it here. However when an MP is removed from a seat by a method that isn't death, most people call it resigning.

My haitani father Shio headcanon is just a bit too funny cuz of how well it works that it sounds like a waste of perfect canon idea and crossover for both of wakui's works.

Aside from the obvious physical features very very obvious, identical eyes, nose, blonde eyebrows, rindou's face form, ran's hair color palette and (arguably) bonten hair style, blah blah i mean just look a the pictures below, you can also bring up any fact from either manga and add it to the hc and it fits in just SO WELL, i'll give the first example, The Haitanis are very obviously rich spoiled kids like have you seen their apartment? They have a fucking dj set, only rich kids with neglective powerful parents will have no problem paying for that, just saying, and even though i love him let's be real Shio is the type to be that parent, i mean cmon he's rich like crazy rich (filthy yakuza money yum yum) he tots would give his children WAY more than enough allowance so they can leave him alone, also the way they act, i've always the Haitanis were the type of kids that think they own the school cuz their dad is rich .

Nvm if this never becomes canon or both universes don't collide, it's just so entertaining to keep connecting the dots that were likely never there, like how Rindou is a heavy drinker cuz his father drank alot with the rest of the Yotsurugis and he tried to imitate him from a young age that it became an unhealthy habit or if you want to add more drama he only drinks cuz he looks up to his father but Shio favors Ran cuz he can posssibly succeed him (canon power complex) so Rindou resorted to drinking cuz it's the only thing like his dad that he can do. Heck yeah i made it angsty!!!

You can also add great context to his fear of Yakuza, picture this, when he was a kid he got up in the middle of night after hearing a loud noise to search for his parents and witnessed Shio (canon Yakuza) pew pew-ing some poeple and surrounded with scary men, that probably scarred him for life that he was so terrified when Kakucho got them interfering with some, OH OH something just came to mind, if he's the son of a yakuza yeah he didn't wanna clash with other yakuza families cuz it can end in a blood shed and risk his and his family's lives.

And i'm gonna add this one not very small detail and i swear i'll shut up (for now), i know it's just a stupid headcanon that is very far from becoming reality and i don't have to take it this deep but hear me out, why their last name is Haitani and not Yotsurugi like their dad, Shio is powerful and have many enemies right ? So he simply decided to protect his children and their identity by giving them another last name likely their mother's (yk like minato with naruto style plan ?) So Haitani is actually their mom's family name. I rest my case. Thank you for coming to my useless ted talk.

edit: might need to add some additional dialogue to this to make it more clear, but a clarification in the interim; he knows about his own footprints. he's just surprised to see something similar already there when he knows he's only just landed. he lifts his own shoe to confirm that they're not identical (and also to reveal this to the viewer). seems his stoicism beat off the clarity in this one, sorry 😭

stan having severe issues from his dad and those years of being homeless that we keep on getting more info on but never really getting confronted on (the drifter catalogue and tijuana incident...), him being completely alone for like twenty years when running the shack before soos comes along to the point that 1998 is noted as his low point, and him not really learning about bill+what he did to ford until ages after he killed him if he ever did get the full context

while i think amnesia and everyone seeing him as a hero actually helped with stan's 'i'm a worse version of my brother' thing its still a lingering issue too and we now got him being insecure over his own hands

ford being immediately thrown from 'being tortured by bill' to 'being stuck in the multiverse and being chased by bounty hunters constantly', him fully expecting himself to die when destroying bill, and him only now being safe for the first time in 30 years ....relatively safe, he's still in constant danger because of course he is

idk in the end the series wants them to be happy and they deserve it, its why i wasn't too worried about the book being like 'ooh bill is back!! and the book is haunting ford' thing cos i knew they'll be ok

I personally see Sam as a diy thrift your clothes type of goth. Safety pins, studs/spikes,patches ect. Only buying from small ethical businesses every now and then, and her wardrobe is 100% curated over the years.

With a mix of her grandma's clothes in there as well because we love giving life to hand me downs👏

I just personally can't see her buying from big companies or fast fashion especially with how she is in the show.

These doodles are how i see her to start dressing in her college years and in the show i see her more as a baby bat tbh (that's just me tho)

I think she branches out a bit and gets more comfortable in making her style really fit her with experimenting (Romantic or Victorian goth Sam would be great)

I was kinda going for a mix of 90's goth/the craft/modern with the layers and mismatched thrifted clothes. I may have missed the mark but honestly i was just having fun putting her in outfits lol

i would need an entire doc to list all the things i've written on him thus far but i'd love asks/questions (and perhaps suggestions!)

im gonna be real here... most of the changes have to be the fact he has a cape and, messy hair, with flowers/leaves caught in it (ever heard of a brush???)

Ok so when @ask-the-rag-dolly briefly blessed us with more werewolf Ragatha I had the urge to draw her again. But then I went back to the first sketch that I had of this and thought “Yeah, this could be better” So I updated doggo Ragatha to look fluffier and fit closer to a werewolf design and I fixed Pomni up while I was at it. I’m a lot happier with it now.

The setting sun was illuminating Andrew’s golden strands like a halo, highlighting his profile. Simultaneously, the sunset painted the sky with pink and purple and Neil who just recently got into photography wanted nothing more to capture this. With a cigarette in his hand, Andrew was nothing short of a masterpiece and Neil had to remind himself to breathe.

He ran inside their apartment and frantically searched for his camera and ran back out to the balcony where Andrew had turned towards him.

Neil answered his unasked question, “I want to capture the view.”

Andrew stubbed his cigarettes and started to head back inside.

“No,” Neil’s hand snagged onto Andrew’s palmetto hoodie, Neil’s hoodie to be exact. “The view.” He emphasised and pulled Andrew back to his original spot. It really showed how far they had come when Andrew wordlessly went back to where he was standing.

Andrew stood facing Neil with his blank face. Neil took a couple of pictures before asking Andrew to stand the way he was standing before. Rolling his eyes, Andrew turned his back towards Neil again. Neil’s hoodie was already oversize but Neil swore he could see Andrew’s back muscles outlined against his hoodie.

“Are you satisfied?” Andrew turned his head towards Neil once again. Neil had the wildest thought that maybe it was Andrew’s jawline that cut all those scars into him. If only.

With his hair highlighted by the sun and the pink and purple background, one of the cats had hoped onto the balcony and Andrew petting King, Neil captured the perfect photo.

“Perfectly,” Neil grins, he walked towards his masterpiece and wrapped his arms around Andrew’s shoulders. They stood on their balcony, in their apartment with their cats and Andrew in Neil’s hoodie and arms, and watched as the sun finally sank behind the horizon. The pink and purple had disappeared and gold that could never rival Andrew’s hair painted the sky. Neil never really looked at the sky but now he could not stop.

Beautiful, Neil thought, admiring the sky for another second before dropping a kiss to Andrew’s hair.
