FLUFFTOBER — DAY 8 PROMPT: RAINY DAY
words: 2.4k rating: m warnings: light intimacy, mentions of sex
Nadya was woken up by a gentle shake of her shoulder. Groaning at whoever dared to disturb her, she blindly reached up to bat the hand away in refusal. Sleep was the only priority on her mind. Her body still teetered on the edge of unconsciousness, she could easily allow herself to slip back into precious slumber. The person who attempted to rouse her was persistent, though.
“Nadya,” Jayde called softly. She shifted closer from where she lay behind the tired human. This time her hand went to the girl’s waist, squeezing her and placing a kiss to the back of her shoulder. “Babe, wake up.” There was a hint of excitement in her voice that Nadya tried to ignore.
“No,” Nadya mumbled into her pillow and buried herself deeper in the blankets.
That only succeeded in making Jayde quietly laugh. “It’s raining,” she whispered with a smile in her voice.
That got Nadya’s attention. The past summer had been long and dry. She didn’t hate sunshine, but her heart yearned for an overcast sky and the joys of rainfall. It felt like ages since the last storm, so at Jayde’s words, Nadya went still and listened for it. The soft patter of eager raindrops against the window confirmed her claim. A smile came across her face as she finally opened her eyes.
A warm contentment settled in the human’s chest and she turned around in Jayde’s arms to face her. Jayde propped herself up on one elbow, watching her girlfriend struggle through drowsiness with adoration in her midnight eyes. Jayde didn’t look sleepy at all, which made Nadya wonder.
“When did you wake up?” she asked through a yawn and rubbed her eyes.
“About an hour ago,” Jayde answered. Her hand brushed through Nadya’s messy hair, moving it out of her face. When her thumb caressed her cheek, the human happily curled into her more to savor the supernatural heat of her body with the sound of the rain in their ears.
“Why so long?” Nadya felt slightly concerned that bad dreams may have haunted her again.
“I sensed the storm before it came,” she explained, her rough voice adding to the soothing warmth she emitted. “I wanted to wait until it really hit to wake you. And maybe I just wanted to stay in bed with you a while longer.”
Smiling again, Nadya placed a kiss to her collarbone. “Okay, fifteen more minutes in bed. Then coffee. Then we can go play in the rain.”
“Or,” Jayde countered with a soft chuckle, “We go play in it now, then coffee and curling up by the fire.”
Nadya let out a half-hearted grumble. “You drive a hard bargain. Five more minutes, then we go.”
“Deal,” she agreed.
Jayde lasted about thirty seconds before she became too restless to let either of them stay still. Her hand started to wander in an effort to rouse her girlfriend. For the most part, it worked. Her touch always stirred Nadya’s senses no matter how out of she was, but then Jayde started to inch closer to the most ticklish spot on her side.
“Don’t even think about it,” Nadya warned.
“I don’t know what you mean.”
“You know exactly what I mean,” Nadya scolded, wise to her intentions.
“You’re so grumpy in the morning, I’m just trying to lighten you up,” Jayde teased.
Nadya leaned back to glare at her sarcastically. “Oh, really? I’ll show you grumpy.”
Before she could reply with another retort, Nadya snatched both of the werewolf’s wrists and used her weight to put Jayde on her back. Nadya pinned her hands up by her shoulders to prevent her from retaliating and leaned in to place her mouth on her neck. Jayde sucked in a sharp breath as Nadya took her flesh between her teeth, giving her a hard nip.
Jayde’s exhale turned into another amused chuckle. “Aren’t I the werewolf? I thought biting was supposed to be my thing.”
The human let go long enough to say, “Some of your bad habits rub off on me.” Her teeth grazed the pulse point again to discourage any vengeful tickling once she released her wrists. Jayde hummed and the vibration of her voice against Nadya’s lips made her hesitate to release her for a moment longer. She placed gentle kisses where she had bitten, soothing any potential red marks.
Her grip finally loosened and Jayde’s hands immediately shot down to her waist. Her thumb went underneath Nadya’s shirt and brushed over her skin, making the butterflies in the girl’s stomach flutter like mad. If it weren’t for the rain, she would’ve let them stay in bed. But they both craved the freshness of a storm on their skin. So, they indulged in a minute of sweet morning kisses before they got up and out of bed.
After she pulled a thick sweater over her head, Nadya caught a glimmer of something mischievous in the wolf’s eyes. “What’s that for,” she asked, reaching out to poke the subtle upturn at the corner of her girlfriend’s mouth.
Jayde leaned in and kissed her with more of a fervor. The familiar sensations overtook Nadya just as it had so many times before. Their lips moved together in tandem and Jayde’s hands squeezed her hips to encourage the temptation to get lost in each other. Nadya loved that she could just let herself go and get drunk on these remarkable feelings. She forgot whatever she had just said or thought. Especially when she felt the barest brush of Jayde’s hot tongue against hers.
Suddenly, Jayde gripped the bottom of Nadya’s sweater and pulled it off of her in one smooth motion. Nadya blinked a few times after she broke away from the kiss, trying to recover from her utterly flustered state. She saw Jayde turn the sweater right side out, which she thought was more considerate of her than usual, but otherwise dismissed the unusual action. Jayde flashed her a crooked grin and just when Nadya expected them to crash together once more, Jayde proceeded to put the sweater on herself.
Nadya laughed in disbelief. “Did you just steal the clothes right off my back?”
“You steal my clothes all the time,” Jayde pointed out with a shrug. “I want to wear something of yours for a change.”
“I haven’t stolen your clothes when you're wearing them!”
Jayde looked at her with a raised eyebrow. “You totally have.”
Nadya narrowed her eyes at the implication in her stare. “Sex doesn’t count. If it touches the floor, it doesn’t count.”
Jayde gave her best sure eye-roll. “Look at you, making up the rules.”
“You better watch yourself before I steal that back.” Nadya said, pointing a finger at her chest. “I really like that one.”
“I bet you like this more.” Jayde pecked the tip of her nose and walked over to the closet where she pulled out Nadya’s favorite flannel – Jayde’s flannel that was a mixture of earthly browns and greens – and handed it to her with a smile. “The rain awaits us, my love.”
The rainfall had gotten heavier since Nadya woke up. As soon as they stepped outside the Lodge, they were pelted by large drops of water and quickly drenched. Nadya couldn’t hide the massive grin that appeared on her face. She eagerly ran out into the driveway, making sure there were no roofs or trees to separate her from the sky. With arms stretched out, she tilted her head upwards to the clouds that hung above them. Mist trickled through the edges of the forest and the air was freezing. Nadya could see every breath she exhaled. Soon the rain would make her colder, but she didn’t care.
“Oh, it’s perfect!” Nadya exclaimed, taking in a deep breath of wet pines and soil. Everything about it made her feel alive. It rejuvenated her. It was worth getting up early for. And the best part of it all was the werewolf at her side.
She turned and realized that Jayde watched her with a look that Nadya had grown so familiar with. She remembered the very first time she ever saw that look. Before they were together, Nayda caught her staring with a soft intensity in her eyes that made her wonder what she could have possibly done to garner such an expression. Jayde had given her that look countless times since, growing less shy about the human noticing as time went on. Now, she did it shamelessly. It took a while, but Nadya eventually understood. It was a look of immeasurable love.
Though Nadya didn’t know what her version of that expression looked like, she always knew she bore it when she felt warmth flood through my chest. Jayde looked gorgeous in the rain. So carefree and happy as damp wisps of blonde hair clung to her wet cheeks. She was the kind of person that belonged in all kinds of nature. Just like Nadya. The sky sent down her love and it made them both glow.
Nadya’s legs carried her towards Jayde, but after a couple steps her foot found a puddle deep enough for a considerable amount of water to seep into her shoe and dampen her sock. She looked down and shook her head with an amused sigh, realizing she had been in too much of a rush to remember her rain boots. At least the Den had a fireplace that she could dry her shoes by.
Jayde noticed and scoffed. “You should really watch where you’re going.”
Nadya fixed her with a playful scowl. As she noted that Jayde only stood a few inches away from the puddle, an idea formed. “You should really watch where you’re standing,” Nadya shot back and jumped.
The splash got her as much as it did Jayde, but the look of shock and mock offense on Jayde’s face made it worth it. Her eyes flashed mischievously and she tried to snatch Nadya’s arms to hold her in place. Even through uncontrollable giggles, Nadya managed to escape her grasp and skipped back out of her reach. Jayde resorted to kicking the puddle at her. It sent the water flying all the way up to Nadya’s face, causing her to flinch away, and Jayde laughed triumphantly.
The werewolf came after her with a rare and unabashed grin – a smile Nadya would do anything for. She avoided her advance and circled back to the puddle, making sure she didn’t run too far ahead of her. The next splash she made had a little bit more volume thanks to her momentum and she was rewarded with a gasp of displeasure from behind her.
When Nadya turned around, prepared to stomp in the puddle again, Jayde’s strong arms wrapped around her waist. Nadya barely had a moment to react before she effortlessly threw her over her shoulder, making her cry out in surprised delight. Her laughter turned to hysterics when Jayde started to spin them around. The world flew by in a dizzying blur.
“You better not drop me!” Nadya shouted in between giggles.
“You barely weigh anything to me. Werewolf strength, remember?” Jayde replied, slowing to a stop and jumping in the puddle to prove her point. The splash caught Nadya in the face again and she laughed, smacking Jayde’s thigh for the offense. “I won’t drop you,” she promised.
“Well, if I’m ever dangling over a pit of lava, I know who to call.”
“Nobody’s dangling you over a pit of lava. Now, a deeper puddle that someone just spotted, maybe,” Jayde said and started towards a new direction.
Nadya strained to get a look, wiggling in her grip and causing Jayde to tighten her hold. Then she saw the puddle. It would be more accurate to call it a lake. She started to squirm more desperately. “Jay!”
“Stay still,” Jayde laughed.
When they got to the large puddle, Jayde plopped her down in it and the water easily went up to her calves. Nadya couldn’t even be mildly annoyed because the splash had been the most satisfying one thus far. She giggled gleefully and jumped a second time. Unfortunately, she failed to notice the slick mud at the bottom. All it took was a slightly awkward landing to take her off balance. Nadya’s foot slipped in the mud and swept her right off her feet. Jayde reached out to catch her, but the sudden downward momentum caught her off guard and it just brought them both down right in the middle of the muddy water with a chaotic splash.
Jayde tried her best not to land too hard on top of her human and Nadya did her best to cushion the werewolf’s fall. It wasn’t graceful by any means. They were both completely drenched and muddy. Yet all they could do was half laugh, half groan in pain at their own clumsiness.
“You okay?” Jayde chuckled, wiping some mud off Nadya’s cheek.
Nadya grimaced a bit as she leaned up on her elbows. There might be a bruise or two later. “I think I’ll live,” she answered with a grin, now shivering in the cold.
“Sorry about that.” Their faces were inches apart. Jayde kept glancing down at Nadya’s lips, a hint of hunger in her eyes.
Nadya wanted to kiss her, too. So, she did. Closing the distance between them, she pressed her lips to Jayde’s. They kissed long enough to taste a mixture of sweetness and rainwater on the softness of the other’s lips — the perfect combination of earth and sky. Nadya loved how gentle and sure Jayde was with her, the heat from her proximity already chasing away the chill that shook her spine. Jayde heard their heartbeats fall into the same rhythm as she deepened the cadence of their kiss and her senses bloomed to take in every single detail of the girl in her arms.
“I forgive you,” Nadya muttered against her lips with a smile.
She felt Jayde smile as well and took the opportunity to playfully reach out to her side and splash water at her. Jayde flinched as brown flecks dotted half her face. Even though Nadya took her by surprise, she saw her eyes flash with retribution. Jayde sat up and used both her hands to create an even bigger wave of muddy puddle water directed right at her.
Soon, they were in a full-blown water fight on the side of the driveway, laughing like children as the rain continued to pour down on them. A few people going to and from the Lodge gave the two young women odd looks when they noticed the display, but neither of them cared about how ridiculous they looked in the slightest.

With the village of the Iuva'ri clan now their new home, the Sullys followed you past open fields, their eyes wandering in amazement at the sights.
Everywhere they looked, the hustle and bustle of daily life surrounded them. Hunters could be seen hauling large beasts into the village, farmers had their hands deep in the earth as they worked to ensure a bountiful harvest, and weavers, with their deft hands, skillfully crafted intricate patterns into fabric.
Though the environment was not too different from what they were used to in the forest, it was still a significant change from the wild, cluttered jungle they had known all their life.
While his family was busy taking all of the clan in, Neteyam was fully focused on you. He watched in fascination as the village parted when you walked past, people practically throwing themselves aside to clear your path. From elders to children, they bowed in reverence and greeted you with warmth and admiration, recognizing you as their Tsahìk.
Through the walk, Neteyam also couldn't help but notice how your presence captured the attention of the young men and women around. Warriors, weavers, hunters – they all seemed to be drawn to you, stopping in their tracks with blushing cheeks as they exchanged hushed words. Their lingering gazes and subtle glances, their eyes which seemed to follow you like a predator stalking its prey, didn't escape Neteyam's watchful eyes.
As he observed this intense attention you garnered, a pang of possessiveness surged through his gut, and his tail lashed out in irritation.
Neteyam felt torn, battling with the internal struggle of feeling irrationally possessive. Deep down, he knew he had no right to be jealous. After all, he had no claim over you, and he had yet to truly earn your trust and affection.
The announcement of your courtship clearly took the clan by surprise. While some genuinely celebrated your happiness, others found it difficult to hide their envy. Evident by the glares sent his way from those who might have hoped to be in his place.
This scrutiny only served to intensify his emotions.
"This will be your home now," you called out, your voice calm and welcoming, pulling him away from his thoughts. Neteyam watched as you guided them to a beautifully crafted hut elevated on bamboo wooden stilts. It stood gracefully above the ground, a testament to the skilled craftsmanship of your people. The roof was steeply pitched and thatched with nipa palm leaves, while the walls were intricately woven from bamboo slats.
Tuktirey gasped in amazement, her eyes wide with childish wonder as she marveled at the hut's elevated design. "It's so tall!" she exclaimed, clearly impressed by the unique structure.
You hummed, understanding their awe and sensing the underlying hesitation in some of them.
"You will grow to like it," you reassured with a small smile. "It may be different from what you're used to, but it will keep you safe and warm. Our people have lived in harmony with Eywa and these lands for generations."
Tuktirey beamed up at you. "I can't wait to explore and learn more about your ways," she cheers, enthusiasm evident.
“I am sure you will learn well, little one,” you hum, running a hand through her braided hair.
With ease, you then moved towards the stairs, climbing up with a sense of familiarity as you began to haul their belongings to their new home. The family followed behind you, still feeling a tad bit out of place.
After ensuring they were comfortable, you began to excuse yourself, knowing you needed to give them some privacy. As you walked past Neteyam, catching his gaze, you gently rest your hand upon his chest. After murmuring a quick goodbye, you withdrew your hand and swiftly left the hut. Neteyam’s mind ran haywire, the spot where your hand had been burned with a sudden fire, leaving a lingering sensation on his skin that he couldn't shake off.
Eywa. It had only been a day and already you had an effect on him.
With your departure, the family gathered together, finding a spot to discuss the events that had transpired earlier. Neytiri paced back and forth in the open hut, footsteps loud against the wooden flooring, her mind racing with a myriad of thoughts and emotions.
"Alright," Jake sighed, running a rugged hand down his face, breaking through the tension. "We have to unpack what just happened earlier."
Neytiri nodded, her brow furrowed as she tried to make sense of the situation. Her eyes turned to Neteyam, concern evident in her voice as she asked, "Ma'itan, are you sure of this?"
"Oh, he sure is," Lo'ak answered for his brother, sending a grin his way. "I mean—Did you hear him back there?"
"I will accept this proposal. Only if she will have me," he mocked, mimicking Neteyam's accent in a deep, gravely tone. Kiri couldn't help but hide her face with her hand, trying to stifle her laughter.
"Skxawng," Neteyam snarled playfully and gave Lo'ak a light smack in response, which only made his younger siblings laugh even more.
"Enough, you two," Neytiri's voice rang out, cutting through the air. She shook her head in exasperation, her beaded locks swaying and rattling with her movements. Turning her attention back to her eldest, her tone dropped a timbre as she murmured, "Neteyam, this is a big decision. Are you truly sure about this? You wish to mate with that woman?"
Neteyam's gaze shifted from his brother to his mother, lips drawing into a contemplative frown as the weight of it all settled heavily on his shoulders. The significance of such a union wasn't lost on him. The mating bond was not merely a union of bodies; it was the fusion of two souls, a sacred connection dictated by Eywa. He took a deep breath, trying to find the right words to express his feelings.
"I am sure," he replied, his voice steady, despite the turmoil inside him. Neytiri studied his face for a moment, catching the hesitation laced in his expression.
"You do not have to do something your heart is against," his mother whispered, reaching forward, both of her hands finding his tense shoulders, rubbing deep circles into his muscle. Neteyam felt the warmth and reassurance in his mother's touch, and for a moment, he leaned into it, finding comfort in her presence.
"That’s the thing. My heart isn’t against it. I just… I felt something when I saw her." He then hesitated, struggling to unknot his mind and put his feelings into words. "Like-Like a heartbeat."
Kiri's eyes sparkled with wonder, a look of recognition flashing behind her eyes. Her tail swished with delight as she leaned forward eagerly, the shawl slipping off her shoulder in the haste of her movement. "You must have felt Eywa's connection with her. Was it like a calling? Could you feel a mighty heartbeat?"
Neteyam froze, his gaze turning to his younger sister.
"Yes. Exactly that, Kiri," he replied, his voice filled with a hint of disbelief. "It was like… she was calling out to me in some way, as if our souls were somehow intertwined."
Kiri's excitement grew, and she couldn't contain her joy. “Eywa has blessed you with a gift, brother. Rarely do mates feel such a deep soul connection on the first time they meet."
"Soul connection? That’s love at first sight, huh?" Jake interjected, his eyes glinting as he glanced at Neytiri with a knowing smile. "Sound familiar?"
Neytiri's stern façade softened as she smiled back, unable to hide her amusement. "Yes, it does," she admitted with a fondness in her voice. Her eyes sparkled with a mixture of understanding and warmth as she looked at her eldest son. "Neteyam, ma’itan, if you truly feel this connection, then it may be a sign from Eywa herself. The steps you take next will be entirely up to you."
"It's just like those stories we've heard, bro. Soulmates and destined love,” Lo’ak chimed in. “You and her, together, guided by Eywa's hand," he smirked, clasping his hands together and making kissy faces. Neteyam huffed, shaking his head.
"Yeah. It might be like that," he admitted with a touch of bashfulness.
"But let's not get carried away with the dramatics,” Neteyam sighs, snapping himself back to reality. “I still want to get to know her first. I want to take it slow.”
“Slow, huh? Is that what you call asking her to mate with you on the spot?" Lo’ak laughed.
“Lo’ak!” Neytiri hissed, glaring at him disapprovingly.
"I did not ask her to mate with me on the spot!" Neteyam snaps through gritted teeth, his voice rising slightly in embarrassment.
Lo'ak's laughter boomed through the air, thoroughly relishing the sight of his older brother's flustered expression. It was a rare occasion for Neteyam to be caught off guard by his teasing, always having a smartass rebut at the tip of his tongue.
"Yeah? Well, it sure looked like it to me," he snickered, his tail swishing back and forth in interest. Neytiri intervened, smacking him upside on the head. Lo’ak winced in response, and nursed the spot where his mother had hit him.
"Ow, ow, I get it," he groaned, lying flat on the floor. "I'll stop."
"Alright. ‘Nough of that. Come on," Jake said, with a chuckle, huddling everyone close. Once they had formed a circle, he began to address them, his tone taking on a more serious note, "Listen, I really need you kids to be on your best behavior. And I mean it."
Jake shifts his gaze to his eldest son, “Neteyam becoming a candidate for future Olo'eyktan already stirred things up enough. And I don’t even need to tell you just how messy that’s going to be.”
Neteyam heaved out a tense sigh, keeping his eyes glued to the ground. “Sorry, sir.”
“We’re gonna get through this,” Jake continued, dismissing Neteyam’s apology, his voice carrying a tone of reassurance. “Together.”
Neytiri moved closer to her husband, gently placing her head over Jake's shoulder. “What does your father always say?” Neytiri murmured, her voice soft and soothing.
“Sullys stick together…”
“Little more feeling this time!"
“Sullys stick together!”
As the night falls and the stars twinkle in the dark sky, they finally retire to their new sleeping arrangements. Neteyam lays on his makeshift bed, a woven mat made out of palm and leaves, his mind abuzz with thoughts. He gazes out of the hut's opening, where he can catch a glimpse of you in the moonlight, going about your duties as Tsahìk, checking up on a few of the sick and injured in their huts.
Your silhouette against the moonlit backdrop mesmerizes him, and he finds himself drawn to your presence like a moth to a flame. As you notice his gaze, you offer him a reassuring nod before continuing your duties. His heart swells with warmth at the acknowledgment.
With the comfort of your presence lingering in his mind, Neteyam turns onto his back, feeling a sense of peace settle over him. The gentle rustle of palm leaves outside and the distant sounds of the forest lull him into a state of relaxation. He closes his eyes, allowing himself to fall into a deep and restful sleep.
The next morning, the village awakens early. The sky is painted in hues of pink and orange as the sun begins to rise over the mountains. Knocking gently at the side of their hut, you had called for them before the sun could even fully emerge, offering to show them more of the village and its surrounding wonders.
You lead them through the mountains, showing Kiri, Lo'ak, Tuk, and Neteyam the ways of life in this breathtaking terrain. The trees stand tall and proud, similar to those in the forest they once called home, but here they bear a different kind of energy, surrounded by majestic mountains which hold ancient tales of the ancestors before them. The group walks amidst the trees, their senses heightened by the subtle sounds of wildlife and the fresh scent of earth.
As you lead them further, you come across vast rice fields, a breathtaking sight of lush green beauty stretching as far as the eye can see. The fields seem to come alive with the morning sunlight. The stalks of rice sway gently in the breeze, creating a mesmerizing dance, captivating the forest Na’vi.
Amidst the exploration, Neteyam's keen eyes spot a group of mountain climbers in the distance, scaling a rocky hill.
"What are they doing?" he questions, his curiosity piqued.
"They're practicing for the coming-of-age ceremony," you say, your gaze following the climbers. Neteyam's curiosity turns into intrigue, and he listens intently as you begin to explain.
"It's an ascent to the clouded peak," you share, pointing to a towering mountain in the distance, its summit shrouded in mist. "At dawn, the candidates gather at the base. It is the tallest mountain in the region and they must set out on a journey to reach the summit."
Lo’ak whistles, grimacing while he sizes up the daunting landscape before him. "We have to climb that?" he asks incredulously.
“Only if you want to. Your Omatikayan ikinimaya should be enough for you to be recognized in the clan,” you assure him with a pat on his back.
Neteyam stays silent for the next few minutes, his faraway gaze directed towards the rocky mountain. Suddenly, he startles everyone by speaking up, the words slipping from his mouth causing your eyes to rip wide open.
"I want to partake in it," he says, his voice steady and resolute. The sudden declaration shakes everyone, and his siblings turn their attention fully to him, waiting to hear his reasoning.
You too gaze up at him in disbelief. "Are you certain?" you ask, wanting to ensure that he fully comprehends the challenges that lie ahead. “This is no simple feat—”
"I am strong," Neteyam interrupts, sounding a little harsher than he had intended, but it was important to him that you knew of his abilities. "I will be able to train for it well."
Your milky eyes drop to his battle-hardened body, sweeping over his broad shoulders and the ridges of his defined muscles, glistening softly in the sun’s glow. The scars etched on his skin tell tales of past battles and trials, a testament to his experience. Neteyam holds his ground, finding himself flexing subconsciously under your gaze.
"I know you are strong," you retort.
"Yes—"
"But the warriors of the forest are different from those of the mountains," you cut him off with a pointed stare. "It is not just about physical strength; you will have to learn how they train, their techniques, and their ways of life," you begin to move towards him, a challenging look in your eyes. "It is difficult to fill a cup that is already full."
Neteyam's jaw clenches, his gaze unwavering. "Then I will empty my cup. I will adapt," he asserts with passion. "I will prove myself not just to your people but to myself as well. If I am to be chief, I have to embrace your ways."
"Pretty sure you just want to impress her, bro," Lo’ak quips. Neteyam scowls at his remark and, in a swift motion, drives his elbow straight into his younger brother's side. At the impact, Lo’ak immediately folds, nursing his side as his face contorts in pain. “Fuck!”
Ignoring Lo’ak, Neteyam turns back to you, his expression steadfast and unwavering. In that moment, he feels an overwhelming longing to prove himself to you, to earn your admiration and love based on his own merits, not just because of any preconceived notions or expectations.
His determination shines like a beacon, and his sincerity tugs at your heartstrings. It's as if he's baring his soul before you, showing you the depths of his desire to be someone you can truly respect and admire.
With a hum, you settle back, your tail flickering behind you in intrigue. If the rumors carried by the wind from clan to clan about him were to be believed, then you should have known he would want to partake in the ceremony.
Such a bold spirit, evident in those golden eyes of his every time he spoke. The mountains around you seemed to echo with approval, as if Eywa herself was acknowledging his resolve.
"If you are that eager, then I will teach you," you say, the decision firm in your heart. It feels as if a weight is lifted off his shoulders at your acceptance of his offer. Neteyam hums, trying to maintain a stoic expression but the telltale flicks of his ears and tail betray his anticipation and eagerness.
"Do not be mistaken, though. I will not baby you," you add with a daring lilt in your voice. You begin to walk away, the swing of your hips matching the sway of your tail. "Let us hope you can keep up, mighty warrior."
That seemed to only fuel the fire within him further.
Neteyam’s chest rumbles in a deep laugh, a fanged grin stretching across his cheeks. "Yes, ma’am.”

Halfway
Caesar X Reader Oneshot (SFW)
Summary: Apes grow and age a lot faster than humans. Caesar had noticed it on more than one occasion; his adoptive father had hardly changed at all while he lived through his adolescent years, and his father had seemed to have always been an elderly man. Now that he has another human taking such a special role in his life, he feels the need to educate himself on the subject.
TW: Mentions of Death and Age Differences (THIS IS A LOT MORE ANGSTY THAT ORIGINALLY PLANNED IM SORRY IT JUST KINDA HAPPENED)
"We are... similar. In age." Caesar spoke meditatively, watching from his seat in your shared nest as you disrobed for the night. You never stripped fully, not if you could help it. Even with the chimp's warm, fur covered body beside you, your skin was much too sensitive to be left bare to the elements while sleeping, especially when summer still had yet to settle over the woods in its entirety. Your outer layers were removed one by one and placed in a pile, on a makeshift table of stone. A thick jacket. A sweater. Your jeans, too, were set aside in favour of changing into some sweatpants. They were much too big for you, and a makeshift belt of twine synched the waistband to keep them from falling down your legs, but he could tell you treasured the item of clothing for its comfortability and didn't feel the need to interrogate you about it. "But you... call me old. Why?"
The question wasn't asked in an accusatory manner, but it still took you off guard. Glancing over your shoulder, you caught his eyes raking up and down your form, taking in the intricacies of your anatomy. Compared to that of apes, yours was certainly odd. Longer legs, shorter arms, more space between your hip bones and ribcage.. It had always fascinated him - the ways you were different, both physically and internally - and you supposed that was the reason behind this topic of discussion. He'd taken note of how you aged in a way that didn't mirror him, and wanted to understand it.
"Because you are old." You replied teasingly at first, earning a huff of amusement that tugged at the corners of his lips.
"You know.. what I mean. If I am old, are you not... also old?"
A hand was extended towards you beckoningly when you finally approached. Kicking off your boots, they were left at the foot of the nest as you clambered into it and situated yourself next to your mate, in the juncture beneath his shoulder. His muzzle was pressed absentmindedly into your hair, allowing him to inhale your scent as you mulled over your next words.
"Well... to apes I probably am, sure." Conceding, at least partially, your fingers rose to thread into his beard. Like most of his fur, the outer layer was coarse and rough, but got softer the closer it was to his leathery skin. When you first met, it was a dark, earthy brown that turned to a muted blonde in the right lighting. Now though, discoloured streaks had began showing up here and there, making his more advanced aging all the more apparent. "But you won't catch me going grey anytime soon. Im still pretty young in human years."
"Human years.." he repeated the phrase skeptically, prompting you to wave your free hand to dismiss it.
"Figure of speech-my point is... even though we're around the same age, we're at opposite ends of our lives, y'know? Humans-we live a long time, so we grow up slowly. Cornelius is just over two years old, but a human baby would still be learning how to walk at that point." You couldn't remember for sure if that was accurate, but it sounded right. It had been a long time since a human baby was born intentionally, and even longer since you'd seen one, so you could only make an educated guess. "And Blue Eyes-you told me he just became an adult, right? Do you know how old he is exactly?"
Caesar paused at that. His eyes wandered up to the thatched ceiling above you as he did the math in his head - something he was by no means amazing at, but had enjoyed learning. Apes understood the concept of years, but didn't often use numbers as humans did. They measured time in the passing of seasons, and an apes age would be equated to their physical development rather than the length of time they'd been alive for. This made calculating the specifics a bit tricky, although it didn't stop him from eventually giving you an answer.
"He-.... will be 8, once the cold months return." He nodded self-assuringly. "Won't be long.. before he starts thinking, about having his own children." And as he continued, his chest puffed out proudly. Being able to see his son become a father himself was something he'd never have believed possible, when he was Blue Eyes' age. When he really thought about it, he wouldn't have even believed it if someone told him he would become a father. But before he could linger on it-
"I'm closer to Blue Eyes than I am to you. In terms of... maturity."
That made him falter. His brow furrowed as he tilted his head to look at you again, the cogs in his mind turning to make sense of what you'd just told him. In truth, maturity probably wasn't the right word to use, but you couldn't think of an alternative that he'd be familiar with. What you meant was that you were at a similar stage of life to Blue Eyes, and thankfully, that's how he also interpreted it. Still, it left him contemplative.
"..... I am.... approaching the halfway, of my life. After, I will be.. closer to death, than birth. Ape death-natural death-happens when... when we are in our 30's, most often. Not always, but-" swallowing the rising lump that had formed in his throat, he forced himself to relax again. Caesar was no stranger to mortality, he'd bore witness to many deaths and births alike. He knew he would die at some point, knew what it meant to die, and had long since accepted the fact that it would one day come for him. Your mortality, on the other hand..
You shifted in his embrace, draping an arm across his midsection to stroke absentmindedly at his sternum. He was a closed book in many regards, but as his mate, you'd become familiar enough with his body language and facial expressions to read him in ways others couldn't. It was something he found both a blessing and a curse, as he was essentially forced to share his burdens with you, regardless of whether he wanted them known. And of coarse, it didn't help that his emotions ran high whenever you were the subject plaguing him, making his rising discomfort all the more noticeable.
He continued.
"Humans... you are children for such a long time. Adults, even longer. Your halfway will be.." Then, however, he trailed off. Again, sensing his mood turning, you took his hand and brought his palm to your lips, kissing it affectionately. In turn, he reacted without even thinking about it, letting his fingers cup your jaw as his thumb stroked your cheek. ".... long after I am... gone.."
"..... I know."
"I am... sorry.."
"Sorry..?"
"For-... for making you mine. Without considering all this, first." A pang of guilt struck his gut, making him take a slow breath to steady himself. "You are... so, so precious to me, my love.. and I have forsaken you... to a lifetime of grief, once... I have passed.." Another breath, this one slightly shaken. Holding you more tightly, he grit his teeth and let a wave of self-hatred wash over him. How selfish he was, for indulging in you so thoroughly. How cruel, to leave you without his care and protection for such a long expanse of your existence. To only be a part of that existence for a fraction of its length, intertwining with you in ways that would bond you forever, while forever would be something he couldn't share in. His eyes grew distant and glassy, before he blinked back the tears that were threatening to well up.
In actuality, it was something you'd considered quite a lot, even if only to yourself. The thought of growing old without Caesar at your side was one you'd had to come to terms with early on, for both your peace of mind and his, with regards to how much you intended to invest emotionally in him. That emotional investment wasn't something you really had any control over, of coarse, but it was something you could make... easier on yourself. Ultimately though, you'd come to the conclusion that the sting of inevitable loss was worth it. You would love him without restraint, and continue to love him, even when he was no longer able to love you back. Because moments like this; cuddled up next to him in your nest, basking in his presence and warmth, hearing his voice speak to you so tenderly, with such care and adoration... you might never have them otherwise. And you treasured each and every one.
His hand was still cradling your face. With a loose squeeze, you interlocked your fingers between his own and proceeded to press your lips to his knuckles one by one. It was such a human thing, kisses.. the soft delicacy of lips on rough, coarse flesh was yet another point of interest to Caesar. There was a time when apes in captivity had picked up a vague mimicry of it from humans, but with such large mouths and less controlled facial muscles, it had never managed to be quite as romantic as the original. With the development of their own customs and culture, the borrowed gesture was eventually abandoned in favour of one they made for themselves. One the two of you partook in quite regularly, in fact.
But while pressing his temple to yours was an intimate, loving act, your kisses were something else entirely. They were almost like a religious experience, as you graced him with a kind of touch not really meant for him, almost worshiping his physical form in a way that wordlessly declared your attraction, your devotion..
Yes. Kisses were, undoubtedly, a very human thing.
But that's why he liked them so much. Because only you, only his human, could ever love him in such a manner.
"I forgive you."

Now, I'm in England with a house I absolutely love, and found that it either didn't sell, or is on the market again. I LOVE this home. Note the 2 statues on the columns playing a game and you drive under it.
This estate is in Dorsington, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, UK, has 6bds, 6ba, £3.65M / $4.319M
Do you like the look of beams? This home's ground fl. is completely open concept, but the beams offer a clear view while still marking separations for each area. Here in the living room there's a lovely brick fireplace.
There's a nice round railing in the middle of the floor. Note the exposed brick walls.
The home has a nautical theme. The unusual round kitchen island has nautical accents. I can't make out what the graphics on the walls are, but they must be ship-themed.
I must say that this is some architectural design. It's amazing. I could be very happy here. It gives off a feeling of tranquility.
Also, beyond the kitchen and living room, there's a gorgeous indoor pool and spectacular acquarium that takes up a whole wall.
I like the way the inside of the pool is painted and look at the stained glass window with an ocean scene above. Also, take note of the beams on the left that are carved to look like palm tree trunks.
The hot tub at the end of the pool lit up at night. How romantic is this?
A magnificently carved custom made bed in a child's room. Look at the mermaid with the trident. On the other side there's a pirate with a sword. Is that a canon in the middle? I think that there's also a way to climb up on top of the bed, too.
From the cupola in the eaves there's a pirate ready to swoop down and he has a long sword on his belt.
Now, out here they cheated. That's book shelf wallpaper.
The primary bedroom is very large, and a little too beige.
The home theater has an Art Deco flair. Look at the little side tables, for snacks and drinks.
What an incredible bar. The floor, the lights, the walls. Even the pool table lights up.
Outdoors there's a nice little terrace and what a colorful anchor.
The big chess set.
Gorgeous gardens.
And, as if all of this isn't enough, there's a fairytale cottage with a thatched roof.
Isn't this a cozy living room? Love the red wood stove and Marilyn Monroe above it.
Nice semi-circular kitchen. The extra touches in these homes are so special.
What a lovely sunroom.

Marco - Ace - Deuce - Kidd - Killer - Sabo - Franky - Zoro - Luffy --
Snowy getaway. Maybe it’s snowboarding and skiing in the cold? Lovely wooden lodges, hot cocoa, and their competitive streak. White snowy scenery and comfy warm sweaters. Log fires and exhausted limbs. Law - Kidd - Ace - Zoro - Robin - Benn --

vintage story update
figured out how to eat (you hold down right click, and have to be facing away from something that is interactable like a campfire)
Thoughts so far:
The variety of useful plants is great, I love being able to make baskets, hay and thatch and to forage for food. I am in a marshy environment with patches of maple and birch forest. The environment has a lot of variety while still feeling cohesive
The stone knapping system is great, though you can use stones that wouldn't realistically make flaked tools like that—a forgivable oversight
I also like the possibilities of foraging. So far, i'm doing well living off of cattail rhizomes and the occasional berries. The wild food resources are very realistic.
I haven't done much of anything except make a hay bed and sleep in it, (which doesn't seem to change your respawn point, unlike in Minecraft) as well as get killed by a wild boar (also realistic)

Luffy’s Parental figure — ACE!
Who raised Luffy and co-parented him with Sabo.
He's the guy who actually did the teenage boom and baby Luffy. Who was really the only one to be an adult to his brother for seven years. Who raised this little bugger and was there for him through hard training and after hard illnesses as well.
Ace who's an explosive head in his own right, but still cool-headed in the most precise moments of danger.
Who knows how to make chicken soup and other kinds of soups from nutritious foods because Luffy couldn't chew and swallow like normal when he was sick.
Who in the field knows how to pick out what's edible, what's poison and what's medicine, because you learn that quickly in the jungle.
Who really with bare hands will be able to build a place for a night's lodging, to make food or water and to make a trap for safety or for fresh game.
He's a man who smiles at his little bro when he's in sight and who really shows a lot of affection and attitude through touch, because Luffy always needed physical affirmation of love and gosh that kid was very touchy-feely baby.
His life centered around his little brother, who needed to be raised, preserved, and made strong.
Teenage angst and mood swings had passed him by(so nothing unusual), because Ace was already an emotional wreck, but having Luffy around was actually a good catalyzer.
Also life amidst the trash and scum had taught him very well what to avoid, i.e. roughhousing, rapes, murders, overdose deaths, the horrors that slums can hold, especially the nooks and crannies where Ace and Sabo used to sneak around.
According to one particular scene that Luffy had somehow stumbled upon (and he had witnessed the brutality and the corpses privately, but he had never seen the bodies of dead children and girls before )
Luffy had hysteria so intense that he passed out.
After that accident Ace and Sabo decided only to walk in the more lighted and more open area if necessity would lead them to the slums.
In general, Ace isn't used to violence and direct threats, although in some cases Ace remains painfully innocent and naive, especially when it comes to himself. ( unless it involves Roger, the Pirate King )
Because of the fact that Thatch almost cut to pieces a lost in life and specifically in that bar amigo who ran into Portgas and began, in Thatch's opinion, to spread his hands.
And if Ace at first reacted friendly enough on approaching of the future corpse by thinking that maybe it was one of his brothers or inhabitants of the protected area, but when the man had crossed the line with a couple of words, he was carefully folded in unconsciousness by the bar wall.
Honestly, I just want more and more of Ace's side as the man who raised a hyperactive ball of joy. And specifically the aspect of home life, which most often of course manifested itself during meals.
For example, some dishes that for example made pirates complain due to scarcity or flavor (e.g. tomato soup/onion soup, any other specific fruit/vegetable) or the beverage (compote/juice/tea of unfamiliar pickings, etc.) of specific fruits or vegetables to be consumed based on shipboard life.
So imagine the surprise of the Marco when most of the pirates booed about the nastiness of the same grated drink with greens (or search for what foods should be consumed when living on the sea and when living in the jungle) and Ace was the most calm and even nostalgic.
Because he'd made a similar thing for his little brother himself.

Hiii! It's me :D
Anyways can I request a whitebeard pirates x fem child reader?
Reader is a clone of whitebeard having his haki and devil fruit ability (like the seraphims) basically reader is a little insane from being stuck in a lab
The reason why whitebeard has a clone because reader is a weapon for the Marines
Reader is a bit rude and a brat because she's scared of adults
Let's say back in marineford they tried forcing reader to fight back at whitebeard but whitebeard just scoop her up and took her back to the Moby dick (thatch, ace and whitebeard lives)
Reader has a brand on the back of her neck 'W. B CLONE' (whitebeard clone)
Reader also wear a pair of season earrings because she hated using her devil fruit abilities
So basically the whitebeard pirates are doing everything to get reader better because she suffered mental, emotional, and physical pain
(Can you also base reader of this? Reader is kinda base of my oc hehe)
Oh and reader has a sentient plush that listen to her commands and is mute
Don't forget to eat sleep and drink! Have a good day!
-Nobody knew why a child was on the battlefield at Marineford, one that looked like a little doll, holding a stuffed rabbit toy, dressed in a delicate looking dress with bows and lace.
-You were on the side of the marines, but you looked almost angry, like you were upset as the scientist beside you, your handler, shouted at you, “Attack them!!”
-The pirates were appalled, seeing a child soldier, one so young looking, being commanded.
-The scientist lifted his hand to strike you, to get you moving and the moment you flinched, Whitebeard’s giant fist slammed into his face, sending him flying.
-You could feel the pressure he was exerting, Haki from what you remembered as you were facing away from Whitebeard, seeing where the scientist landed, and Whitebeard saw the brand on the back of your neck.
-He had been hearing rumors that the government had been cloning strong pirates and marines, to create an unstoppable army. And this brand was something he had seen in the reports he had been receiving, realizing that you were a clone.
-You turned back, and you squeaked as he instantly scooped you up before leaping back to his ship, putting you safely on the figurehead, “Stay here. You’ll be safe.”
-You didn’t believe him, all your life, despite being so short, you had grown not to trust adults, they were the ones who beat you, who locked you up, starving you, forcing you to hurt others, and with it, your mind broke, becoming a bit unhinged.
-You did stay however, as you saw the scientists and marines who had been so mean to you, trying to get to the ship, telling you to come back to them.
-This was your chance to escape and finally be free!
-When Ace was freed and all pirates were retreating, you grabbed your rabbit, feeling a little scared as all the pirates made it back, including the giant man who grabbed you earlier.
-As you started to sail away, many were looking over at you, before you heard a sound, “Let’s go back Y/N~”
-You turned, seeing Kizaru there and your eyes went wide as you took a step back in slight fear, not wanting to go back to the lab, while the men behind you were ready to charge in.
-Kizaru ran for you, and you clenched your eyes shut, throwing a hand towards him in a slapping motion and instantly he hit a wall, being blown back, just like Whitebeard’s ability, making jaws drop as you sent Kizaru flying.
-Everyone turned to you, eyes wide in shock as you sniffled softly, tears trying to well in your eyes. You hated using your ability, if felt weird and it made you tired.
-Marco came over and you instantly bristled, “Stay back pineapple head!”
-Your sassy words stunned everyone as quickly everyone was roaring with laughter while Marco was trying not to be mad at you as he kneeled, “What is your name?”
-You immediately bit back, “What’s it to you?” okay… you were kind of a brat, but Whitebeard spoke next, “You don’t need to act like this any longer, you’re safe here.”
-You didn’t bite back to Whitebeard, who was looking down at you like you were a shy little rabbit, now knowing that you were his clone, as you had his abilities, and his white hair. You knew this as well, as you had seen him fighting, using the same ability you had.
-Whitebeard turned to all the others on the ship, “Everyone- this is my daughter and your new sister, Y/N!” the ship was quickly filled with cheers, and you felt weird, why were they so happy you were with them as you glared, “Who says I’m your daughter?”
-He ruffled your hair gently, surprising you as you were expecting to be hit, your eyes going wide, which some of them saw, making them curious, and angry, about what you had dealt with.
-Whitebeard just chuckled softly, seeing the front you were putting up, “I do- so let’s go on an adventure together!” You knew about adventures, reading about them in your picture books as tears quickly welled in your eyes.
-Ace came over with a teasing grin, “Aww is our little sister crying?” you instantly glared, holding your bunny up like you were going to beat him with it, “I’m not crying!” They just laughed, thinking you were cute.
-You still didn’t trust them yet, but so far, they were being nice to you and not hurting you. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to stay with them for a while.

Bruises and bad habits
Whitebeard loved all his children. He liked hearing about them. Watching them make progress in the things they loved to do. Weather that was getting stronger or completing a project they wanted to do. It was all he could do not to just cheer them on every day.
Ace was his newest son and the most troublesome. His favorite kind of child. The ones that could hardly be handled they were too wild. They always made life interesting and fun. Ace also reminded the older man of a few past friends that he used to have. Ones that never listened and always did what they wanted. Ace listened a littler better than the boy’s biological father but that meant very little to Whitebeard. After all Ace is his son now and nothing would change that.
Ace lived up to that chaos too. Especially when sparing with the others. Pops knew that it would make others stronger too. Ace always went all out. Only holding back enough not to kill anyone. No matter how the fight progressed. It was a little worrying at first.
A sibling was charging forward, when Ace used his flames. Making the other jump back, his sleeve on fire. Everyone was moving before they could stop. Trying to put out the fire. The sibling yelling out. Until they noticed that his fire wouldn’t burn them. Ace stared at everyone with large eyes. Just watching them. “It doesn’t hurt?” The sibling with fire on their sleeve said. They reached out to touch it.
“Don’t do that.” Ace said, “It’s not burning you but the heat might still hurt.”
Marco stared jaw a gape, as Thatch threw an arm around him. “Wow, already knows you’re trick. Ace is gonna beat you with fire manipulation.”
“How long did you say you’ve had you’re devil fruit?” Marco asked, thinking of how long it too him to learn this little trick. His fire wasn’t even used for burning. But he had to be careful when he was younger. Just because the default setting didn’t burn didn’t mean it wasn’t capable of doing so. Marco had burned a few things from losing control his his emotions.
Ace turned around to smile at them. “Just over a year.” That wasn’t enough time to learn this. Just what was Ace doing to gain such control over his powers?
Ace of course, would never tell them how he learn it. Just saying that he ‘just did.’ And leaving it at that. How he managed to train his fruit so quickly in the time he said he had it, they wouldn’t know. Not that Marco wasn’t dying to know how. He would just have to bother Ace about it later.
Later Ace would explain again that he didn’t do anything all that strange. He just had to get off the island, but maintain the heat and power of his fire. That was all the training he did. When Marco tried to use the striker after that be got it. Just that kind of control with a very flammable person behind you was enough to learn control.
If the fire wasn’t a problem it was the way that Ace seemed to always be able to find the weak point in others was. Ace moved about like he owned the place. His steps bouncing off the mast or off the railing. Almost as if he grew up on a ship. Every move was calculated. Chosen to get Ace as closer to his target as possible. Without over shooting what he wanted.
Now that pops could see the boy from an outside perspective, it was easy to see why he won against Jimbe. Why the world government wanted him to be a war lord next, rather than a pirate. Fighting him would be a pain to do all the time. The boy was always improving. When he gets knocked away he’s already got a new idea at how to attack. Not afraid to go again until he doesn’t get hit.
There was a problem with this. It was that the boy would get hurt. There wasn’t a time that Ace didn’t have some kind of bruise on him form one or more of their crew. It was better than when he was trying to kill, their captain but still. If that was all they could learn to deal with it. Ace would get better soon and he wouldn’t get hurt as much.
But when he got hurt the boy would up and disappear on them. Making Marco, the nurses, and Deuce run around looking for him. He was never in the same place either. Sometimes he would be hiding in a storage room. Other times he was hiding on or in the sails. It was all just a guessing game. It didn’t help that Ace being hurt was the only time the boy could hide better than any haki user. Well except for one. One that wasn’t quite willing to help them. After all his son wanted to hide away from all the poking that he himself hated. What kind of father would force him to deal with that, unless if was life and death. Ace was fine. The boy always bounced back. So Pops didn’t mind him hiding in his shadow, or under his coat. As long as he could keep track of the boy himself, it was fine.
It helped that Ace’s viver card wasn’t burning away to nothing. Meaning there was no reason to fear that he was going to die.
“ACE! YOU BRAT!” Marco yelled, frustrated that the boy had once again gotten away. If this kept up they weren’t going to let him spar with anyone but Marco. It was getting so annoying trying to hunt the boy down.

Today would definitely be your day! After weeks of trying to convince your brothers and especially your father, you had managed to get permission to take a tour all alone around the next island the ship stopped. It might seem silly, but living surrounded by men who saw danger in everything made your freedom being compared to one of a bird in a cage. Of course, you were more than grateful for all the effort they put into protecting you, but sometimes you just wanted to run around and play with other kids instead of being followed by famous pirates who scared anyone who came near.
That's why you couldn't hold back the anxiety of finally being able to live a little adventure completely alone! You've prepared very well, choosing fresh clothes that won't get in the way of playing or running, took a purse with a generous amount of money that you collected according to the days and choose the best and most resistant shoes! Everything was perfect, you couldn't even swallow your food during lunch. You were so busy, as soon as the meal was over, you said goodbye to everyone and ran towards the port, excited to explore the place.
Even if walking around and spending money on silly things wasn't exactly the most fun thing in the world, just being able to experience all those new things by yourself and maybe even make a few friends was enough to get you excited. There weren't many young people in Whitebeard's crew, you ended up being the only child and the youngest member which left you a bit alone. Of course no one refused to play with you, Marco and Thatch would spend hours distracting you if that made you happy, the point was that they were adults and eventually needed to take care of their responsibilities, leaving you alone.
Your plan was to buy some candy and maybe find some kids your age to play with, you couldn't wait to get some attention from people who would also like to play. You walked carefree through the big city market, there were countless merchants, mothers, workers, all walking around in their own worlds and duties. You'd eventually stop and look at the fruit, jewelry, or anything else that looked like fun, but you weren't focused on shopping. You were humming absently around, not really caring about your surroundings when you started to hear footsteps approaching.
When you turned around to try to figure out what was going on it was too late, a person collided directly with you but before he could knock you to the ground, he pulled you by the arm away from the main road. You were dragged into an alley and soon a hand covered your mouth, when you regained your senses you could hear more and more footsteps approaching, a crowd running! You frowned in confusion as you listened to what people were saying. "Are you sure you lost them?" You tried to peek down the alley and you could guess they were sailors by their blue and white outfit. "Shit, those little brats! I can't believe they robbed us…" they argued among themselves "Let's keep looking, they can't have gone far".
So when the men walked away you decided to pay attention to the situation you were in. You looked to see who your captors were and came across two… children? The boy holding you had blue hair and a huge red nose, he was holding your mouth while his face had a terrified expression. Next to him was a boy with red hair and a nice hat, he was carrying what looked like a bag of coins and he also looked extremely nervous about being chased. Whoever they were, you knew they'd robbed the sailors, but that didn't mean they weren't a risk to you.
When you were sure the sailors were gone you used all your strength to step on the boy's foot and then bite his hand. You might be small but you weren't harmless, growing up with powerful pirates had taught you a trick or two.
"Ouch! You bit me!" The boy screamed as he held his own hand.
The redhead finally seemed to notice that they'd dragged someone else into the mess and looked at you confused.
"You kidnapped me!" You countered by crossing your arms.
"You kidnapped them?!" The redhead exclaimed looking at his friend in shock.
"They were in the way!" The other tried to defend himself "And you bit me! I was about to let you go!" He was still angry but you didn't care.
"Think before you kidnap me! You're lucky I only bit you, if I told my brothers they would do a lot worse!" You exclaimed proudly of your family.
"Sure, like I'm going to believe a snotty brat" the blue haired one rolled his eyes.
"You called me what?!" You exclaimed with fury as your cheeks burned.
"Snotty brat" he said again with a smirk, looking satisfied with having turned the tables.
The problem was that the boy had underestimated you, one thing you definitely lacked was patience. You learned very early that you shouldn't tolerate offenses against yourself or your family, so you let anger win that fight. You quickly punched the blue-haired boy in the middle of the face, the one who fell on his butt with a scream.
"Buggy!" The red-haired friend screamed and went to help him.
"I'm not snotty!" You said stomping your foot on the floor.
The red-haired boy looked between you and the companion, his gaze showing shock and… fascination? He looked at you like you were a bedtime story hero, someone amazing and you couldn't understand. Shouldn't he be angry? You had just hit his colleague and he seemed fascinated by it?
"Wow…" he exclaimed looking you up and down.
"Humpf! Idiot" you said without patience and then you turned to leave the alley "You're lucky I won't tell my brothers, Marco would finish you off" you said and then left the place ignoring the red haired boy who kept calling you .
You were nervous and frustrated that visit to the city had not gone as you planned, so you decided to go back to the ship earlier. Luckily you would stay a few days in that place, there would be other opportunities to explore and meet kind and fun children, no more children who irritated you. It wasn't long after returning to shore that the crew set up a small camp to store the new supplies while the ship was refueled. There, you found Marco fiddling with some papers and further away you could see his father giving orders to some other members.
You sat with a sulky face while eating a candy you bought in town, Marco looked at you curiously and approached with a characteristic smile.
"What's wrong birdie-yoi?" He smiled and sat down next to you.
"I… I met some annoying kids" you decided it was better to omit what had happened, as much as you wanted revenge, you understood that the confusion had been a misunderstanding and you didn't want your siblings worrying about something so silly.
"Wasn't that fun?" He nodded when he saw you deny it. "Don't worry, you can still meet other kids in the next few days" he smiled trying to calm you down "And if nobody wants to play with you, let's get Visa and Jozu and have a tea party, how about that?" He offered, knowing you were always happiest spending time with your brothers.
"Promise?" You looked at him sullenly.
"On my honor" he smiled as he saw you clearly getting more excited about the idea.
After a little chat, Marco had to get back to work and you decided not to bother him anymore. So to distract yourself until dinner time you decided to walk along the nearby beach and look for some shells to collect, you were still thinking about the boys from before, especially the redhead. He was looking at you with so much emotion that you couldn't help but feel your stomach churning, no one had ever looked at you like that… It was so weird and it made you so confused, what was that? Some noises in the nearby forest caught your attention, being curious that you were, so it didn't take long to approach and look for who was there.
"It 's you!" You said in recognition of seeing the red hair from before.
"Shhhh!" He asked for silence and you covered your mouth, looking around for any threat "Are your brothers here?" he asked quietly.
"They're over there…" you pointed into the distance and he seemed to agree silently "What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to talk to you again" he admitted looking at the floor, his cheeks were slightly pink and you felt your body getting warm.
"Why?" You asked timidly.
"Because your punch was super cool!" His eyes sparkled "You hit Buggy right on!"
"Is he not your friend?" You asked confused.
"He is… But you were just defending yourself! He shouldn't have called you snotty… You're not snotty, you're too cute to be!" He confidently admitted.
"Do you think I'm cute?" Your cheeks were now on fire.
"I do…" he smiled shyly "I'm Shanks, what's your name?" He approached.
"(Y/n)" you smiled.
"Cool, I didn't know Whitebeard had someone in the crew with my age"
"How do you know I’m in the Whitebeard’s crew?”
"You said you had a brother named Marco, I know him! And my captain said Whitebeard was in town, so that had to be it," he said with pride in his little investigation.
"Your captain? Are you a pirate too?" You were curious now.
"Yes! I'm from the Roger Pirates!" he exclaimed with pride.
That's when your face became sad... You had heard about this crew countless times, all your life you grew up hearing that they were your father's main enemies and that you could not, under any circumstances, approach them.
"I shouldn't be talking to you!" You finally realized and tried to run, but Shanks was quick and grabbed you.
"Wait! Please! I don't want to hurt you!" He begged as he held her wrist gently but firmly.
"How can I trust you? You kidnapped me this morning! And we are sworn enemies!" You snorted.
"But I don't want to be your enemy…"
"You don't?" You let your emotions get the best of you.
"No… I… I want to be your boyfriend!" He declared with fire in his eyes.
"Boyfriend!?" You stuttered in shock, your face was hot and probably red, your eyes were wide in shock.
"Yes! You're super strong and cute!" He said without a care and then let go of your hand "Unless you didn't like me…"
"No! I did like you…!" You admitted with embarrassment "But… I never had a boyfriend… What do they do?"
"They… They" he stammered in embarrassment "They hold hands… Kiss on the cheek and go on dates!" He said with embarrassment.
"Oh!" You exclaimed with as much embarrassment as he was. You thought about holding Shanks hands and your stomach started to turn, it would also be really cool to be able to play with him.
"It's cool, isn't it? We can be sweethearts!" He tried to convince you.
"(Y/n)?! Where are you? It's getting dark and we should go back to the ship" You heard your father's voice approaching.
"Shanks?! Where are you?!" Another unknown voice came from the middle of the forest.
Before you could run away the fearsome encounter took place, behind you was your father and behind Shanks must have been the much talked about Roger, his captain. You both widened your eyes in terror when you realized what was happening, but you didn't dare open your mouth to try to explain.
"Roger"
"Newgate"
"Can you explain why your brat is talking to my child?" He quickly put a hand on your shoulder and pulled you back.
"Good question, what's up Shanks? Did you come here to talk to the old man?" The captain chuckled, he didn't seem to be mad at Shanks at all.
"I… Well…" the boy mumbled incoherently with embarrassment.
"Did he do something to you?" Your father asked, looking at you calmly, he didn't seem mad at you at all, which calmed you down a bit.
"No…" you mumbled shyly and grabbed his leg.
"Hm, maybe they just met and had a chat" Roger theorized "Or are they secretly flirting, huh Shanks? You naughty, came for the riskiest one" the man teased.
"Don't talk nonsense Roger, (y/n) can't date you, brat" His father said as if that was nonsense.
"I can't?" You asked with some sadness in your voice.
"They can’t?" It was Shanks's turn to look sadly at his captain.
The two men stared at each other in shock, they seemed to slowly understand what was going on between the two of you.
"Don't tell me… Did you like this piece of junk?" your father asked in shock and nervousness.
"Hey! No need to offend other people's children!" Roger defended "Shanks isn't that bad… He's just… He" the man shrugged.
"Like you understand" Edward rolled his eyes.
"Come on, we were young once!" Roger laughed "Let the kids date and have some fun, nothing bad will come of it"
"No" Edward gave the final verdict, but when he felt you pulling his pants and making your huge lost puppy eyes with tears threatening to fall he started to rethink the idea "(y/n)..."
"Please?" You asked "I promise I'll help more often in the kitchen if you let me..." you tried to bargain, you liked Shanks, you didn't want to be banned from dating him, even if you didn't know exactly what boyfriends did.
"Heavens… Who knew having kids would be like this…" He sighed tiredly "You guys can date" Shanks smiled "With some conditions!"
"Conditions? That's not fair!" He huffed angrily.
"Calm down little one, he's the father, he has the right to decide that, you have to earn trust and permission" Roger said quickly, Shanks seemed more resigned.
"First you need to grow up a bit, I can step on you now and I won't let such a small and young brat date my child!" he said quickly.
"Uhum!" The redhead's eyes sparkled.
"Second, you need to be strong! I will not tolerate a weakling having my child as a partner, you need to be able to face me without fear to have their hand"
"Yes! I'm going to be really strong!" He smiled looking at you and you looked away shyly.
"And finally, when you have those two things, the most important one" Shanks listened attentively "You need their acceptance" your father put his hand on your head "If you have both requirements and my child still loves you then I won't be the one going to stop you" he chuckled.
You smiled happily as you looked at Shanks who also looked confident.
"You'll see old man! I'm going to marry them!" He proclaimed with pride.
Roger just laughed praising his apprentice while your father looked frustrated and stroked your hair. You smiled thinking about how cool it would be to have Shanks as your boyfriend, you really didn't see the time to be able to be with him.
