Benefits of Coconut Oil for Hair Health
1. Coconut Oil Moisturizes Hair:
Coconut oil is an excellent natural moisturizer for the hair. It can penetrate the hair shaft, reducing protein loss and keeping the hair strands well-hydrated. Dry, brittle hair is more prone to breakage, and keeping it moisturized can help maintain its length.
2. Coconut Oil Strengthens Hair:
The fatty acids in coconut oil, particularly lauric acid, can help strengthen hair and reduce hair breakage. Stronger, healthier hair is less likely to break and may appear to grow faster.
3. Coconut Oil Helps for a Healthy Scalp:
A healthy scalp is essential for hair growth. Coconut oil may have mild antibacterial and antifungal properties, which can help maintain a clean and healthy scalp, promoting optimal conditions for hair growth.
4. Coconut Oil Reduces Damage:
Applying coconut oil to your hair before washing can help reduce damage caused by the mechanical stress of combing or brushing. It can also act as a protective barrier against environmental damage.
5. Coconut Oil Improves Hair Texture:
Regular use of coconut oil may result in improved hair texture, making your hair look healthier and thicker.

MY HAIR ROUTINE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wash my hair every three days. I have wavy dark brown hair and my scalp starts to get oily while my ends remain dry. I just wash it when I feel it's necessary.
Hair oiling. I use sesame Oil before washing my hair in winters and coconut oil in summers. When my hair start to get extremely dry, I make a deep conditioning mask and steam my hair like they do in spas before washing it off too. Before sleeping I always apply rosemary oil and braid my hair.
Protective hairstyles for the night. I always tie my hair up in braids before sleeping and I almost never tie my hair up in a ponytail. From my own experience, it tugs at my forehead too much and I tend to get bald if i tie my hair for longer periods of time, Also, I use 100% cotton t-shirt as my hair towel to protect my hair and I sleep on satin pillowcases( A GEM).
I don't use heat. The only thing I do is steam my hair like once or twice a month after applying a deep conditioning mask only because I have extremely dry hair.
Trimming your ends. I Trim my hair every 3 months by myself. Invest in a good pair of haircutting scissors; it's so worth it!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some more secrets and weird stuff:
Start oiling your hair for growth. You can also try R-89 which I currently use.
Use hair-oils for shine and can also be used as hair serums. Currently, I use rosemary oil.
Switch to bamboo hair comb as they help spread natural oils evenly.
Switch to satin pillowcases (This is a must. Your hair will thank you)
Avoid washing your hair with hot water. Honestly, avoid bathing too. It dries your skin.
Use aloe vera gel instead of shampoo when you get buildup. If your hair is dry like mine you can use it for hydrating your hair too.
Don't use branded oils on your hair please. Get your oils directly from some local shop that are 100% virgin and who retreat the oil from the source in front of your eyes only. The ones in the market are not 100% virgin ever.
Please feel free to share your own suggestions, glow-up tips and further questions in the comments! <3

Hey, I’m the one who sent Merlin in! I’ve been reading your posts, and doing other research on how to take care of locs.
But since it takes place in medieval fantasy, I wasn’t sure what Merlin would moisturize his locs with. I read an article that had a moisturizer combination with castor oil in it? And if I remember right, you personally use something with rose water in it? I could be wrong lol.
Do you only need to moisturize them once a day, or more than that? Also, how long does it take to do that? His locs are going to be down to his back, and I’m not sure how long it would take him.
I’m sorry for all the questions I just want to make things accurate hjkkkkmn
It's mostly water in a spray bottle, followed by whatever oils someone with locs wants to put in it. So if his locs are down to his back, he probably doesn't want castor oil and peppermint bc that helps with growth. I've used coconut and argan for softness, tea tree for helping with itch and dandruff, rose water for softness and smell. Aloe vera for itch and swelling. So yeah it can really be any combo of things. Perhaps just make up some fantasy plants that are the equivalent to these. Just look up a list of oils and how they help the hair, and choose from there.
As for how often, this depends on the person lol. I admittedly could moisturize my hair more. But I at least do it once a day. Some people do multiple a day, some people do it weekly. It's not a set thing. And for how long, depends on how long the hair is. It doesn't take me longer than about two minutes, when I just spray and massage into my scalp and the length. Same amount when they were down my back. They don't need to be soaking wet lol it just needs to be moist. The goal is keeping the scalp moisturized, so that the hair that grows is healthy, and the size of the head doesn't change lol. 👍🏾

Toni, please don’t call me an idiot but I caught a knife by the blade out of reflex instead of letting it fall on the ground :/. Long story short I can’t use that hand for a while now. Which is bad because tomorrow is hair wash day and no one’s home tomorrow who could help me.
Now this got me thinking about the reader asking Simon to help her wash her hair. He’s helping her of course but complains if she’s got a routine that’s more than just shampoo and rinse once.
no no he doesn't complain about that he'll complain about you having an overpriced shampoo and conditioner and body wash instead of the 42 in one bottle he's got.
forget if you use leave in conditioners. water and aloe vera juice mixed with veg glycerin. hair growth serum. the tea tree oil stings his cuts. his eyes. why are you doing all of this is just hair! now he's gotta massage the scalp with that brush. what do you mean wait 15 min? why?
(me projecting. my mom used to have me rot for however long with avocado in my hair during my youth. and potato peels on my face cuz i had terrible skin.)
i hope you feel better. not your reflexes being the good ol double edged sword.

Skincare tips
(... from a girl with incredibly sensitive skin)
Witchhazel extract kills bacteria and is a great toner to use before applying anything else on the skin
Honey and aloe vera gel can help heal scars
If you're prone to acne and scar deeply (like me) get an acne cream with benzoyl peroxide in it; it works like a charm and has not caused my skin any irritation
Jojoba oil has amazing benefits and is a fantastic moisturiser; your skin will feel like butter, it's amazing
Applying beef tallow regularly is the best thing I have ever done for my skin; it helps with acne, my skin is softer and glowier, and it is the only thing to have ever gotten my eczema under control
I combine my beef tallow with honey and olive oil but that is a combination that works for my skin in particular so do some research regarding what could benefit your skin to combine with the tallow if you want to
Beef tallow also helps soothe sunburns. Coconut oil makes sunburns worse.
Eating avocado makes eczema worse (especially if you have type O blood)
If you use products with natural oil bases (jojoba oil, for example) but your skin gets irritated, it's probably the essential oils irritating you. Try the natural carrier oil by itself.
You can make your own salt scrub with rock salt, a little fine table salt, olive oil and jojoba oil. Add essential oils if you want. Store in an air tight container.
BONUS: Rub and massage almond oil and jojoba oil into your scalp and hair to stimulate thicker hair growth, softer and more moisturised hair, and to prevent breakage. It leaves your hair pretty oily though, so I leave in it for a few hours on hair wash days.
