So many trans people can understand that gender is a social construct but cannot dismantle the idea that sex is not only not binary but also a social construct that you can change.

My sex assigned at birth is not the same sex I am now. Your sex is assigned based on your genitals/secondary sex characteristics, your hormone pattern and very loosely your chromosomes (cause who fucking checks those?). I have changed 2/3 of those things, I have changed my sex. That is not inaccurate or unrealistic to believe. Sex is not immutable or fixed, and transsexual is not a dirty word

i think about this post so much. “leftists” are so quick to think theyre progressive and radical, but the instant that means they have to change basic parts of how they live- where they shop, who they support, groups they attend, ext- then its seen as too overreactive and too much work.

activism is work. it is a lot of work. its making an effort not just to change other people but to ask yourself what you need to change about yourself.

But so does finding the strength to wake up every day and face a world that hates you. So does speaking up to correct someone when they misgender you. So does simply existing in this world, finding the courage to say "I am here, and I'm not going anywhere".

putting myslef on blast for no reason but i've only had one major relationship and it was for like 3 years from high school into the first semester of college and then in like a 2 month window they cheated on me with like 3 ppl simultaneously and then tried to spin it as forming a poly relationship, as if that's something you can just Do without any kind of input from your Current Long term partner and the sting of that betrayal is never gonna heal imo, like in my more forgetful moments i'll be like "Oh if I'd done X maybe they'd still be in my life and they could see how good I'm doing rn" and i have to remind myself that actually everything i've achieved has been directly in spite of them and the 2 year crushing depression they left me in right at the start of my college education, this concludes the Erika secret lore dump <3
