what do you recommend for people who are very new to deadpool comics and looking to get into them?
hiii thank u for asking!! this is kind of a complicated question because there's no right answer really. especially with deadpool, there's no actual best starting point because besides the basic origin story that he was experimented on, everything else about him is fair game (he just lies all the time and has false memories about his past) and so all the comics are different and some are pretty much standalones. but here's a list of a few comics depending on what you want to explore (i have not read every deadpool comic ever so this is not the best list but i will get there):
for shorter and more lighthearted reads:
deadpool (2022)—SO so cute wade has a crush on this non-binary assassin and it's actually adorable how much he likes them lol. in terms of shorter deadpool comics i think this one is quite a standout [update: the ongoing deadpool (2024) is brilliant as well and is a direct more in-depth continuation of this]
deadpool infinity comic (2021)—a short partnership with sue storm. funny and the art style is so cute too
deadpool (2018) #6—the issues in this run are all kinda standalone stories (although they all connect at the end). they're all a fun time but this issue in particular is hilarious. comics usually don't make me actually laugh but this one did
for a more meta read that explores exactly what makes wade unique from other superheroes:
deadpool kills the marvel universe (2011)—in my opinion THE most iconic deadpool run, i'm sure everyone's heard of it lmao. a little darker but hey cameos from every marvel character ever. this was the first deadpool comic i ever read and it was a good time
for a familiar face from deadpool and wolverine (for other specific familiar faces you could just search "deadpool vs [character]" and that comic would probably exist):
honestly just search "deadpool and wolverine" and you'll probably get the whole list but here are some i've read that are lovely:
deadpool & wolverine: wwiii (2024)
deadpool vs. wolverine: slash 'em up infinity comic (2024)
weapon x-traction (2024)
for long in-depth characterisation that explores a lot of deadpool lore:
deadpool (2012)—if you've been following me you might know this is my favourite deadpool comic ever. it's pretty depressing and much grittier than the movie deadpool you might be used to, also REALLY long so it can be daunting but it's very worth it imo. it starts to get really good by the good, the bad, and the ugly issue and there's just SO much in it. for me wade in this run is inseparable from wade as a character to me (this comic is also followed up with deadpool (2015) and despicable deadpool (2017). these aren't necessary to read because 2012 kind of wraps up on its own, but it's definitely bittersweet to get to the end)
deadpool (1997)—another hulk of a comic run. i have not read this yet but i've heard very good things about it, and many people say that joe kelly is the defining deadpool writer so you could give it a go! older comics may be a little harder to read though, from experience
for comics featuring ellie (wade's daughter) that you may want to read in order if you want to fully appreciate her and wade's relationship:
deadpool (2012, 2014, 2015)
deadpool (2018, issues #8, #12, #15)
deadpool (2024)
a lot of comics will sometimes redirect you to other comics that explore a sideplot, and the main comic will just pick up where those left off so you could miss some storyline. despite this it's not necessary to read those other comics, but if you want to avoid multiple instances of this when you first go in, then i would suggest starting with the shorter runs!!
i hope this was helpful lmao sorry this got really long but i think the starting point really is different for everyone depending on what they like

"We had our time. I loved her. I always will. But that's the past."
In X-Force issue #6, Forge finally relegated his relationship with Storm to the past. He'd never done it explicitly before.
It might sound surprising coming from me, but this line made me very, very happy. Specifically because it's Forge who's speaking.
Over the years, many writers have tried to give the Storm/Forge relationship proper closure (after the initial Scott Lobdell fiasco in 1992, I mean. Don't get me started). The last few times this happened, the conclusion was more or less the same: Ororo saying or implying that they'd had their time, but it was over, while Forge reluctantly acquiesced with with his bottom lip quivering. Ororo got to move on; Forge didn't.
Tumblr media
[From Uncanny X-Men Annual #1, 2006, written by Chris Claremont. Ororo leaves her relationship with Forge behind in the build-up to her wedding. Forge doesn't stop her, but he clearly isn't ready to let her go either.]
Because he's a much less popular character, no writer cared enough to let him move on. Sure, he had a fling with Mystique immediately after he and Storm broke up, but that was over 20 years ago, and it was never presented as a solid relationship. After that, writers returned to having him pine over Storm again and again.
Tumblr media
[Greg Pak's Storm #3, 2015. He tries to get in her pants. She's dating Wolverine.]
Tumblr media
[X-Force #9, 2020, by Benjamin Percy and Joshua Cassara. This is in the background of a big panel of the Green Lagoon full of customers, but there's still an effort to make the dynamic very clear in the body language. Forge= still trying and Storm=still not interested.]
You could even argue they used him as a prop for Ororo's other romantic relationships by presenting him as the creepy ex.
Tumblr media
[Astonishing X-Men #30, 2009, by Warren Ellis. This arc juxtaposes Storm's marriage to Black Panther with her past relationship with Forge, and considering that he's gone insane at that point, he suffers from the comparison. And he's obviously still obsessed with her.]
Tumblr media
[Extraordinary X-Men #6, 2016. In this run Jeff Lemire created a love triangle made up of Storm, Forge and Old Man Logan. Although this takes place 20 years after their breakup, Forge is presented as clingy for some reason, thus making RoLo look like the better option.]
So loving Storm became one of Forge's defining characteristics, like his power or his headband. It also meant he was kept in stasis: a character can't evolve if they're always bound to another.
But now we have the new X-Force, which was pitched as a Forge book from the start, and a writer, Geoff Thorne, who's actually interested in writing Forge. And the best way to make Forge evolve as a character, it pains me to say, is to loosen, if not sever, his ties with Ororo.
By finally saying these words, Forge doesn't just decide to move on from his ex: he breaks free. He becomes his own character. He reclaims power. This is huge.
Does this mean Storm/Forge is over for good? Well, no. He does say he still loves her. His love might just be different from now on, is all. Less all-consuming. Also, it's comics. Nothing is forever and anything can happen.
What it means is that we might get new stories for Forge, instead of constantly going back to Ororo and everything connected to her (like the guilt around the power neutraliser, which he also lets go of in this same issue). That's exciting if you ask me. Ororo herself would be proud. And an independent Forge is so much more worthy of her anyway.
"I always loved you far too much to ever cage you." Forge said this to Ororo in a dreamscape once. It definitely works the other way around, too.

was thinking abt how much i miss the 2014-2015 era fnaf fandom and it's interpretations of the characters (oh vincent purple guy how i miss you.) so new au alert!! lil chibis of my vincent n phone guy <3 designs are very much inspired by the popular designs for them around that time (originally popularized/created by rebornica i believe - though these are completely separate from their au i am not associated with them in any way shape or form) 🎉✧ SUPER COOL EPIC LORE INFO UNDER THE CUT!!!!!!! ✧🎉
general lore ☆ basically a whole rewrite - not because i have issues with the story (i stopped paying full attention after sister location tbh) just for fun!! again very much based on me missing 2010s fnaf fandom that was PEAK to me ☆ i still tie in some pieces of the lore but for the most part. forget what u know abt fnaf this is a whole rewrite (ex. animatronics are sentient but not possessed by children - not possessed at all in fact!! except for perhaps a few exceptions but i'm working on it) ☆ these two have quite a lot of canon lore tie-ins but beyond these two it's different LOL ☆ set in or around 2014, timeline is a wip vincent dorian (formerly afton) ☆ italian on his dad's side, armenian on his mom's side ☆ william afton's only child, born while freddy's was open but doesn't remember it rlly - his father and henry emily were co-owners/business partners but split ways (aka william got fired bc henry found out what he did. why he didn't bring this to the cops i'm still working out) soon after he was born ☆ raised by william as a single father ☆ was forced to help his father kill since he was like 12 this guy's got TRAUMA. ☆ still deciding on why he's purple (boy why you ourple.) but ik that it's william's fault. idk if i wanna go the walking corpse route like with michael in canon yet ☆ cuts off his dad when he's 18 - moves out on his own, etc. ☆ still kills for reasons i am currently working on however he does NOTTTT kill children ☆ starts working at freddy's at 27 as a way to 'rebel' against his dad, even if he hasn't seen him in yeeears by this point ☆ night guard at first, eventual day shift guard and sometimes a technician when needed ☆ his hair is naturally still black - he dyes it purple bc he thinks it looks cool ☆ his red scrunchie matches the red of phone guy's head <3 scott emily ☆ THE DRAWING IS OF A VERY SPECIFIC POINT IN THE AU I HAVE YET TO FLESH OUT it's not the most reflective of his character overall ☆ puerto rican ☆ henry emily's only child - remembers a tiny bit about william, remembers being scared shitless of him ☆ gets caught in a fire set by william when he's 16. he barely makes it out alive ☆ henry makes him the phone head mask thing. it can *technically* be removed but it never is bc it keeps the scars that never quite fully healed from getting worse ☆ head somehow works like a real phone... don't ask i just thought the idea of him ringing when he feels strong emotions is rlly funny (henry makes sentient animatronics in this au he can do anything. everyone say ty plot device dad!!) ☆ has some sort of contacts made by his dad that allow him to see through the phone ☆ grew up with the restaurant, his dad managed the location he's currently at until passing the business and the manager position onto him when he was 25 and henry was ready to retire ☆ henry told scott the full truth about william shortly before retiring - including that he set the fire that he got caught in. it's made him pretty paranoid that he's coming for him or something's gonna happen to him, even if neither of them have heard from william since then and he's essentially off the grid ☆ always at the restaurant during opening hours but rarely ever seen bc he doesn't want to scare any of the kids with his phone head vincent & scott ☆ yes they're dating. everyone cheer!! early fandom purplephone was my SHITTTT i love them so much ugh they r everything 2 me ☆ ngl they remind me of poolverine (deadpool x wolverine). vincent is deadpool (VERY accurate.) and scott is wolverine (less accurate but their dynamic stands) ☆ scott finds vincent annoying at first but eventually warms up to him and now he loooooves him. he's still annoying but he loooooooooves him ☆ scott doesn't know vince is william's son at first since he changed his surname and looks completely different ☆ they're just rlly cute and deeply in love and got some angsty shit going on later but that'll be a surprise oooo

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter
March 2015,
Maya huffed softly as she kicked her door closed with a light thump. Her hands were full of groceries since she assumed her sister would be home. Nope. Instead, Sakari was out around the town with some new friends she made. Sometimes Maya wished she could be as extroverted as her.
She was also swarmed by paparazzi on the way home. They yelled stupid questions at her which only caused her to be more frustrated.
“Are you having an affair with Hugh Jackman?”
No. Why would anyone think that? He was happily married. And Hugh would never cheat, he wouldn't be able to keep a secret like that to himself.
“Why are you with him all the time?”
They're friends. Friends hang out and go places together.
“Do you know he has kids?”
Yes. Of course she did. Hugh talked about his family all the time.
Maya set her things on the counter, letting out a breath. She was relieved to be home. She was about to leave in a few days for a new film but she wanted to have everything stocked for Sakari. She brushed a hand through her hair and grabbed her phone from her jacket.
There were a few messages from Arlo and Nick—who the media also speculated about her relationship with him—and there were a few missed calls from Hugh.
She draped her jacket over the back of a chair. She knew what he wanted so she called him back. “Hey, Hugh.” Maya’s expression immediately softened.
“Hey, mate. I was wondering why you didn't answer my calls.” His voice was slightly teasing and lighthearted. “Just wanted to make sure you're still coming over tomorrow.”
Hugh had invited her to his penthouse again, but for a dinner party with his family. And Ryan. He invited Blake too but she already couldn't come for whatever reason. He wanted one of his newest close friends to meet his family and his other close friend.
Maya began to put away her groceries, tucking her phone between her shoulder and her ear. “I don't know, I have to leave early the day after and… I just don't want to be too tired.” She was disappointed with herself because she desperately wanted to go but duty calls.
“C'mon…” Hugh whined playfully. She could imagine the pout on his face. “I want you to be there. It would make me very sad if you didn’t go. Do you want me to cry?”
Maya let out a huff of air. Hugh let out a soft laugh in response. He had her right where he wanted her.
“Fine.” She mumbled, knowing she would probably regret it when she woke up at nine am and had to get on a flight within the next hour.
“Fantastic. You know Oscar really wants to meet you.” Hugh teased softly, a warmth in his tone that Maya found only occurred when he talked about his family. “I think he has a crush on you. He's into older women, just like his dad.” He joked.
Maya chuckled softly, shaking her head at his antics. “Well, you don't have to worry about me taking him away. I wouldn't go for someone younger.” She opened the fridge to put away some berries and apples.
“That reminds me, what is your type anyway?” Hugh asked as if it was the most casual thing in the world. And maybe it was.
Maya grabbed the paper bags and set them in the pantry. She and Sakari used them for recycling. “I haven't really dated anyone and I don't find myself attracted to many people. I guess I'm kind of reserved in that aspect.” She shrugged as she grabbed her phone and held it properly against her ear.
She was on the asexual spectrum and she's known that for a while. She did have a few crushes here and there—Hugh as Wolverine was one of them—but they were never tangible. She wouldn't mind having sex as long as the relationship she was in was stable and not a simple flash in the pan. As long as she had a strong bond with the person. She hadn't felt anything like that yet. In a romantic sense, at least.
Hugh hummed in acknowledgment. He likely couldn't relate. Although he had been married for nearly a decade at that point, he had been quite flirty with plenty of other people. It never strained his relationship with Deb as it was all in good fun and their marriage was solid.
Then Maya could hear a small voice on the other line but couldn't make out what it was saying. It had to be one of his kids. “I gotta go, sweetheart. I'll see you tomorrow.” Hugh said his goodbye.
“Yeah, bye.” Maya breathed before the call ended.
She put her phone down on the counter and let out a soft breath. A pang of nervousness ran through her. She could handle Ava and Oscar just fine—kids always loved her—but Deborah? She wasn't sure. Hugh talked about her all the time and yet Maya felt like she didn't know her at all. It had to be the nerves. Suddenly all the information Hugh told about Deborah was erased from her mind.
Maya needed to go to the store again. To get wine or something so she didn’t show up empty–handed at their penthouse. She didn't want to be a horrible guest. Maybe it was also the Inuit part of her that needed to bring something. Anything. A gift? Hugh was letting her into his home and letting her meet his family. That felt important and she didn't want to take it for granted.
When she made it to the Jackman penthouse, she knocked on the door. She shifted on her feet, a bottle of red wine in her arms. It was way too last minute to ask her father to carve something or for her to ship something from back home so she settled on something a little more generic but she knew Hugh would appreciate anything she gave him.
The door opened. “There you are,” Hugh smiled warmly, draping an arm around Maya's shoulder to usher her inside. “I thought you were going to be late.” He teased.
Hugh hated it when people were late. Maya learned that fairly quickly while on set with him when James would arrive only a few minutes late. He would get too carried away trying to shoot Michael with his BB gun. It was good for Maya, though. She was too anxious to ever arrive late to something. She was too concerned with trying to make a good impression, especially while filming, seeing as she was an unknown actress in a Blockbuster set surrounded by established actors.
“I, uh,” Maya looked around the penthouse now that there were others in it. Deb was at the countertop, making sure all the food was set out while Ava was playing with Ryan—she was climbing all over him—and Oscar was playing a game on his phone, trying not to pay attention to her. “I brought wine.”
Hugh smirked. “I see that.” He took the wine from her hands and squeezed her shoulder. “Thank you. I'm glad you're here.” His expression softened. He then dropped the wine off on the counter, pressing a kiss to Deb’s cheek as he passed to scoop Ava away from Ryan.
“Oh, thank God! This monster was all over me!” Ryan exclaimed dramatically.
Maya's shoulders slumped as she watched the scene in front of her. Hugh was so fluid with his movements, it was like he's done it a million times already. Maybe he had.
Her eyes shifted to the kitchen. She thought she might as well get the most difficult person to meet out of the way first. Well, she didn't think Deborah would be difficult by any means but she was the most nervous about meeting her.
“It's very nice of you to let me into your home.” Maya said sincerely, a kind smile on her face.
Deborah looked at her and stared for a moment. Maya's heart raced. “Sorry, I suppose I didn't believe Hugh when he said you were tall.” She laughed softly. Her Australian accent was also charming. Maya could see why he fell in love with her. “It's no problem, dear. I'm glad he has a friend other than Ryan.” She teased.
Then, the unexpected happened. She hugged Maya. It was a soft, fleeting touch but it made Maya's chest warm.
She held her arm after pulling away. “That reminds me! Oscar had a few things he wanted you to sign.” She squeezed Maya’s arm, “Stay right there.” Deborah left down a hallway.
Maya glanced over at Oscar who was actively trying to avoid eye-contact with her. It made her laugh. Deborah came back with a small headshot poster of her and a magazine with her character, Sedna, on the cover. She grabbed a marker for her as well.
Maya began to sign them, putting a little note underneath her signature when Ava came up to them. “You're really pretty.” She said sweetly. “Daddy says the lines on your face are from your culture, what does that mean?”
Deborah gently scolded her, almost on instinct. “That's not a nice question.”
“No, it's okay.” Maya smiled. If an adult asked that question, she might be annoyed but kids? They were bound to ask questions with no ulterior motive but because they were genuinely curious. “A lot of them are for milestones. You get them as you grow up.” It was the simplest way to explain it.
“When did you get your first one?” Ava pressed, eyes roaming over all the different markings on her face.
Maya glanced at Deborah who was watching them with careful eyes. “I got this one,” Maya ran her finger down the straight line on her chin, “When I turned eighteen.”
Ava's eyes brightened. “That's so cool!”
Maya chuckled and nodded at the little girl before she gave the magazine and poster back to Deborah. “Your kids are cute.”
“I know.” She said playfully. “Thank you. He'll really appreciate this.”
Maya nodded at her before she went over to the living room where the boys were. She sat next to Hugh who was talking to Ryan about some film he was trying to get made.
“Oh, Maya,” Ryan smiled warmly, offering a hand to her. “It's nice to finally meet you. Hugh's said so many great things about you.”
Maya flushed slightly, shaking his hand firmly. “That's very nice of him,” She glanced at Hugh who shrugged innocently. “He's said a lot about you as well.”
She knew of Ryan's public persona like everyone else did. Someone who was effortlessly funny and sarcastic with his comments but Hugh would tell her he was so much more than that. They would have very in-depth, open conversations. She found it endearing.
“I have to say, pictures don't do you justice.” Ryan complimented.
Oscar glared at Ryan, causing Hugh to let out a low laugh. The young boy hadn't mustered up enough courage to talk to her yet.
Maya chuckled nervously. “They don't? I guess the photographers need to check their lenses.” She had never been flirted with so directly before, even if it was not going to go anywhere. Ryan was married.
God, it seemed everyone around her was married but her and her sister. Well, there was also Nick but they didn't talk as much.
Hugh nudged her shoulder. “Agreed. You're more beautiful in person.”
Maya's heart flipped in her chest. Again. She wasn't self-conscious about her looks or anything but compliments were few and far between at times. Unless she was around her family. She didn't fit into most beauty norms and she didn't want to. She just wasn't used to it when the compliments were from people outside her family.
And Hugh? He didn't talk about her looks much. He mostly praised her acting and her talent—her ability—never usually “superficial” things. So this was a surprise.
Dinner was nice. Especially nice knowing she likely wouldn't cook much for herself in the coming months so she savored each bite. Some steak that was perfectly cooked and some roasted vegetables with a wine sauce. So the red wine turned out to be a good call. Maya had wondered if Hugh made the steak.
“Oh, no, Hugh can't cook for the life of him.” Deborah laughed, causing him to roll his eyes. “I made him cut the vegetables.”
When it was time for Maya to leave, Ava attached herself to her hip. It was clear she had a new favorite person. Hugh tried to wrangle the little girl off her with an apologetic look in his eyes.
Instead, Maya pulled her into her arms. “I gotta go, kiddo.” She said in a soft voice. “I'll be back.” She glanced at Hugh who's face broke out into a smile.
Ava wrapped her arms around her shoulders and held onto her tighter. “I wish you'd stay longer.” She frowned.
“Maya has an early flight tomorrow morning, bug.” Hugh ran a hand through Ava's hair, an easy and soft affection that made Maya smile to witness. “She'll be home in a few months and then you can have her all to yourself.” He kissed the top of her head, taking her from Maya.
Maya nodded and ruffled up Ava's hair. The little girl was still frowning but her expression lightened slightly. “Can we have a sleepover?” She asked her Dad.
“Why don't you ever ask me for one?” Ryan called from deeper inside the apartment.
Hugh chuckled, “Sure, bug. As long as Maya wants to.”
“I'd love to.” Maya said softly. Affection bubbled in her chest.
She never wanted children herself. Maybe a part of it was that she couldn't have children since she had a preference for men. Although, transgender men did exist. And adoption. That is what Hugh and Deborah did. Anyway, being here, seeing Hugh with his wife and kids, was making her want that—a small, little family of her own.
Hugh side-hugged Maya before she left, still holding Ava. “I'm glad you were able to come.” He said in a soft tone reserved only for her. “It was nice to see you.” He pressed a kiss to her cheek.
It was the first time he had ever done it and it wasn't going to be the last. Maya felt like her heart was about to explode with how full it was.
“It was nice seeing you too.” Maya nodded back at him.
She was glad she came too. She was glad she was being let into his family, even just a little. As an unofficial member. All of her anxieties ceased to exist. Ava, Oscar, and Deborah loved her. In their own different ways, but she appreciated each and every one of them.
Like Ava, Maya nearly wished she didn't have to leave but she had pre-existing obligations. Though, she'd definitely like to stay over one night once she was done filming. That little girl has wormed her way into her heart. Almost like her father.
The thought made her smile.

Hi !!! Regarding that recently popular post of yours about female characters always existing to indulge the male protagonist or to get involved in something romantic I COULDN'T AGREE MORE , I don't know if it's bc I'm aromantic but I'm just so tired of getting into a movie, book, series with well written female characters only for the writers to give them some sort of romance that most of the times serves as a weakness , or is there to show that she is indeed human guys look she isn't a bitch who only cares about her work /purpose etc. Like give me a fucking break , women can have other flaws and weaknesses it doesn't always have to be a romance thing . It's almost like female characters can only make mistakes or act flawed only when it comes to romance otherwise they are annoying and problematic. There are so many media comics, books , anime, cartoons with male protagonists that never got them romantically involved and yet they are considered complex and fleshed out characters. GIVE ME FEMALE CHARACTERS LIKE THAT please 🙏. Sorry for my yapping , could you please recommend me some of your favorite media with female protagonists that dont focus on romance . I'll take anything, I'm desperate 😮‍💨
List compiled from checking my back-issues and polling multiple discord servers. Extremely comics-heavy because this is a comics blog.
(*) indicates that I have not personally read/watched/played/etc whatever is listed, so I can't personally vouch for it.
Also, due to the fact that I am not personally familiar with everything listed, I can't provide relevant content warnings. Some of these are significantly heavier than others. Some of these are parts of larger franchises that may not make since without background knowledge.
Comics/Graphic Novels:
Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld (1983), (1985), 1986 one-shot, Amethyst (1987).*
Batgirl (2000)
Batgirl (2009)* (these get separate entries because they're about different characters)
Birds of Prey (1999)* and (2010)*-- some romance, but it's not the focus
"Most Black Widow runs"*
Botticelli's Apprentice by Ursula Murray Husted*
Champions (2018) -- ensemble cast with multiple female characters. Some romantic plots, but not the focus.
Dark Spaces: Good Deeds (2023)
DIE (2018) -- ensemble cast with transfem/genderfluid lead. She is married, but her wife exists mostly off-screen, and romance isn't a major plotpoint.
Exiles (2018) -- team book with female lead, I don't think there's any romance, though characters may reference past romantic entanglements
Gotham Academy (2014)*
Harrow County (2015) -- I don't think there's any romance with the main character
Hawkgirl (2023)*
Huntress (1989) -- some light romance, but it's not the focus.
Lumberjanes* -- there is some romance between the leads, apparently, but the main focus is friendship.
Manhunter (2004)*
Patsy Walker, AKA Hellcat! (2015)*
Powergirl (1988) and (2009)*
Radiant Red (2022)* -- main character has a fiance but I am told this is not a major aspect
Scarlet Witch (2015)
Something is Killing the Children (2019-ongoing)
Unbeatable Squirrel Girl (2015), (2015-2017) -- this does feature some light romance, to memory, but I don't think it's central
Unstoppable Wasp (2017), (2018-2019)* (aspec main character and aspec writer)
Wonder Woman: the Hiketeia
Wonder Woman: Historia
World's Finest (2012)
X-23 (2010), All-New Wolverine (2015), and X-23 (2018)
X-Men (2013) -- almost entirely female cast, no romance
Gwenpool, the character-- I know some of her earlier stuff is rather romance-centered, or at least includes romantic plots, but more recently the character is explicitly aroace, so you might be interested.
Anime/Manga:
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure part 6: Stone Ocean* (some romance, but not the main focus)
Magical Girl Dandelion*
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
"Any Ghibli movie with a female protagonist", Spirited Away*
Witch Hat Atelier
Movies/TV:
Alien
The Descent*

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
Fatal Fame franchise
Resident Evil 2, 3, Resident Evil 8 DLC: Shadows of Rose, Resident Evil: Revelations 1 & 2, Resident Evil: Code Veronica
Silent Hill 3
Books
Wayfarers series* by Becky Chambers, especially A Closed and Common Orbit, which has 2 female protagonists and 0 romance. Can be read as standalone.
Tamora Pierce's body of work*-- the amount of romance may vary book-to-book.
I hope this is helpful to some extent or another :) -- others are welcome to add their own recommendations in reblogs/comments.
