You're Alex you're 17 you've been stuck in a game and you didn't know this has been your life for years. No one calls you Alex. You can't look at yourself in a mirror, it's always this handsome young man looking back at you, always the same, unnafected by the years. But then the impossible happens, and someone really sees you, talks to you and you want to believe you can get out of here, you wish you could hope but you're down to your last life, there's no way to get around it, you will never come back, not outside nor inside of the game, the life you had was monotonous and maddening but it was life and that's all you had. You're paralized but you make it, you drive the plane. Only to lose your last life to a mosquito bite. You have a bitter moment of pride on being proven right, but the impossible happens again and you're giving another life, a sacrifice from someone who barely just met you.

And then the game was won and you go back to your room and your body just like you've left them 21 years ago, and you have to live. You have lived so much but you have to do it again and find yourself in the process.

And many years later, maybe you've calculated when was the date for their return, maybe you haven't, but you get the feeling. You've doubted it so many times, doubted they would make it out, doubting jumanji even happened in the first place. But today you know, and you're out of your father's house (where it all started) and you see them walk in front of you: four teenagers, you've never seen them before on your life, but you know them.

Even though you'd been waiting for this moment for years, you can't really think of anything to say other than "thank you". And their smiles tell you it was the right thing to say

So I was rewatching Jumanji: welcome to the jungle today and holy shit I have literally only one question.

How is it that Nick Jonas and Jack Black have more chemistry that most if not ALL of the couples on Riverdale? And don't get me wrong I am an avid whatcher of Riverdale but like seriously Jack Black playing a teenage girl (the range tho) has so much more on-screen chemistry with Nick Jonas playing a teenage metalhead than Lilli Reinhart and Cole Sprouse did (and they were actually dating).

My favourite thing is how the makers of Jumanji tried SO HARD to make us not ship Bethany Walker and Alex Vreeke in the real world by making it so that Alex named his daughter after her and she says "you're an adult" like it's somehow a turn-off or something. They tried ✨so hard✨ to close that door.

Yet they only made it worse by opening a window to the most delicious age-gap, daddy issues, Bethany gets abused and Alex basically parents her before fucking her senseless fanfiction. I'm obsessed with it. I'm here for it.

But it is still highly amusing when you think about it

Okay but just think about it. In Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, they’re all telling Alex that it’s been 20 years since he disappeared, and has been in the game the whole time. And then when they leave Jumanji, Alex goes back to 1996 and the other four remain in 2016. Alex was the first to leave the game, so he doesn’t see what happens to the rest of them and therefore doesn’t know if they make it back or even make it back at the correct time.

So think of poor Alex Vreeke, being sent back to 1996, and having to live with the fact that he doesn’t know what happened to the people that saved him for TWENTY YEARS. 20 years with the knowledge that if it weren’t for a group of 4 teenagers from the future, he’d be missing forever and he wouldn’t have the life he’s living.

And then 2016 approaches and he has to sit there for who knows how long with the anxiety and fear of not knowing, just to see if they made it back or if they even will come to see him. I’m sure that that day, when it arrived, was one of the greatest of his life. After that, I feel like he would have had a major weight lifted off his shoulders.

I just have a lot of thoughts and emotions about the Jumanji gang okay...

So against all odds I’ve really enjoyed the new Jumanji films and The Next Level is no exception...BUT there are two things that I find it hilarious how hard they went to avoid going into:

1) Milo deciding to stay in Jumanji was a nice scene and all but how are they going to explain his absence in the real world? The man disappeared and the last person he contacted is someone who held a grudge against him. The police are going to go after Eddie for murder!

2) Bethany is still clearly really, really into Alex/Seaplane. She is simultaneously thirsting over a hot pilot and wanting to get nailed by a 40 year old DILF.

You had given Alex one of your lives, hoping he could come home too. And now it was paying back, as Van Pelt held a gun on your head, your last life almost fading away in front of your eyes.

“Van Pelt, stop!” you heard Alex exclaim as he ran to the scene, panic evident in his eyes. Van Pelt laughed.

“Well well, isn’t it the Seapilot? Coming to rescue the love of his life?” he grinned at you. “You don’t give me much of choice. This land is mine, and I won’t let you take it away from me. One less of you means that I’ll win.”

Alex was silent for a bit, before he forced Van Pelt to turn to face him. “Take me instead.”

“As you wish.”

“Alex, no!” you exclaimed, stepping forward but Van Pelt pointed you with his gun again.

“Don’t move.”

“Y/N, it’s alright.” Alex reassured you, but before Van Pelt could turn back to him, Alex hit him, knocking him out. You both stared at his body, before Alex quickly stepped forward to lunge to embrace you. “I thought I lost you.”

“You looked up to him, before smirking a bit. “Is it true? What Van Pelt said? Are you-”

“In love with you? Yes. Ever since you saved my life.”

Your lips curved into a small smile. “Funny. I would say the same.”

You giggled at each other for a few seconds, before Alex promptly leaned forward to kiss you.

You didn’t expect that, but it was a welcome surprise. You had loved Alex for a bit now, you could almost say it was love at the first sight. You wrapped your arms around Alex, his hands found themselves on your head and you felt like you were in some corny romance movie, only fireworks were missing.

You broke off when you heard someone clear his throat. “Guys... that’s cute and all but Van Pelt’s goonies are after us. We need you.” Spencer stood there, scratching his neck nervously and you could feel yourself blushing.

“Right. All right. We’ll be there.”
