Now that everyone on here is talking about the minecraft movie I'm going to throw in my two cents. I think that the minecraft movie should be about a dad who knows nothing about minecraft and his gamer child getting isekai'd into minecraft by, like, a wizard or a curse or something. Freaky Friday style. They have to work together and defeat the ender dragon to get out. The dad doesn't really understand the child or their hobbies, and every time he tries to get into minecraft on his own (on the kid's computer) he doesn't really like it or get it. But by throwing them into a minecraft world and forcing them to play in a sandbox, they both realize that it's really fun to play video games (like minecraft) with the people they love. Also this wouldn't work if it took place with hardcore world rules. It could be animated and both of them could have steve's character model but the kid has a propeller hat on theirs.

The sound of footsteps echoes in the hallway as students exit their receptive classroom after the bell rang signalling the beginning of lunch break.

You kept your gaze low, clutching your books tightly to your chest, and headed to your locker. You let out a quiet sigh of relief as you reached it. You began spinning the combination lock, when—

"BOO!" A loud voice shouted right next to your ear.

You jumped,  heart, leaping into your throat, nearly dropping all the books you held. You whipped around, eyes wide, only to be met with Chrissy’s grinning face.

"Gotcha!" Chrissy said, laughing playfully.

"Chrissy! You scared me!" you managed to say, your voice barely above a whisper.

"Sorry. It's just too easy to scare you! You're always so jumpy." Chrissy giggled, flipping her strawberry blonde hair over her shoulder, and leaning against the locker next to yours.

“So… where are you going to eat lunch? At my table or are you going to go with your boyfriend?” You both started walking away from the lockers, lunchbox in hand, to join the other students in the cafeteria.

Her question made a blush creep into your face, tinting your cheeks a rosy colour.

“Eddie is not my boyfriend, Chris. I barely even hang out with him” You sighed.

“It's kinda funny how you knew exactly who I was talking about though” She giggled again, and bumped your shoulder with hers, teasing you.

You only rolled your eyes at her and pushed the cafeteria doors open ignoring her. The doors swung open and right away you were both met with the bustling noise of the lunchtime crowd, students chatting, trays clattering, and the usual lunchtime chaos filling the air. But something was off.

You slowed down and noticed a cluster of students gathered in a tight circle near the center of the cafeteria. There was a low murmur spreading through the crowd, the kind of tension that only meant one thing.

“Wait… what’s going on?” you asked, your brow furrowing.

“I don’t know… “ Chrissy stood on her tiptoes, trying to see over the heads of the crowd. “it looks like—oh no.” Her face paled, and before you could ask anything, Chrissy darted forward, pushing through the crowd.

You rushed after her and muttered apologies every time you squeezed past another student.

When you finally pushed past the last student blocking the view of the middle of the circle, you saw them. Jason and Eddie. They were squaring off, chests puffed out, faces red with anger. Jason's hands were clenched into fists, and Eddie looked like he was one second away from throwing a punch.

“What the hell are you two doing?!” Chrissy shouted, storming right up to them and grabbing Jason’s hand in hers in case he was ready to throw his fist at Eddie’s face, her voice was cutting through the noise like a blade.

“The freak started it,” Jason accused, his voice sharp with frustration.

“Are you kidding me?” Eddie shot back, stepping forward. “You were talking sh-”

“Seriously? I was talking shit?!” Jason stepped forward too. Making both boys inches apart.

"What's going on here?" 

You felt your stomach drop as you turned to see Principal Coleman standing at the edge of the circle with his arms crossed, his eyes sweeping over the scene. The whole cafeteria seemed to fall silent the moment he appeared.

“Oh no,” Chrissy whispered under her breath, shooting you a worried look.

The principal walked forward, his gaze moving between Eddie, Jason, Chrissy, and you. 

“Mr. Munson, Mr. Carver,” Principal Thompson addressed them, his voice cold, “would either of you like to explain why there’s a crowd gathered around you, and why you two looked about ready to throw punches in my cafeteria?”

Jason shifted uncomfortably on his feet, rubbing the back of his neck. “We, uh… It was just a misunderstanding, sir. Nothing serious” 

“Nothing serious? When all the students are surrounding you guys I know everything is serious.” The principal raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed.

Both boys opened their mouths to speak but couldn’t come up with anything that would change the principal’s mind. Principal Thompson’s gaze then shifted to you and Chrissy, his eyes hardening.

“And what about you two? Just bystanders?” His tone suggested that he wasn’t buying that for a second.

You felt a lump rise in her throat as you shook your head quickly. “No, we didn’t do anything! We just got here and tried to stop them before it got worse.”

Chrissy nodded in agreement. “We weren’t part of the fight, I swear.”

“Well with what I can see right now you’re involved” His eyes shifted to Chrissy's hand that is still holding onto Jason's fist, and then to you in front of Eddie suggesting you were in the middle of it all. “The four of you need to understand that actions have consequences.”

“I expect more from all of you, especially you two,” he said, glancing between you girls. “I’m disappointed. You should’ve come to me or a teacher immediately instead of trying to handle it yourselves.”

Chrissy opened her mouth to protest, but Principal Thompson cut her off with a sharp look. “Enough. All four of you—detention. Today after school.”

Your heart sank, you never got detention, and now you were getting one unfairly? You wanted to say something but Instead, you just stood there, not wanting to aggravate the consequences.

“I’ll see you all in detention. And trust me, if this kind of behaviour happens again, there will be far more serious consequences.”

With that, he turned on his heel and walked away, leaving the four of you standing in stunned silence. The cafeteria slowly resumed its usual noise, but for you and Chrissy, the weight of the unfair punishment lingered.

“Detention? Seriously?” Chrissy muttered under her breath, crossing her arms tightly.

You and Eddie exchanged looks and you saw the guilt in his eyes. You were mad at Principal Coleman but you couldn't bring yourself to be mad at him even though he and Jason had put you and your best friend in this situation.

“Welcome to detention” The woman smiled brightly but was met with frowns and sighs which was expected.

“Mister the principal thinks it would be too easy for you all to sit and look at the ceiling for a couple of hours so he thought of a brilliant idea” She pointed her finger to the mess on the floor and the shelves. All of you looked at her quizzingly.

“This place is gonna get turned into an office and obviously we need it cleaned out so today you are all going to be cleaning out the mess, and don't worry if you're not done today you can come back tomorrow” She smiled but her voice was full of malice.

“Tomorrow?” You all said in unison.

“But tomorrow is Saturday?!” Jason added. 

“Well I guess then you should get to work” She clapped her hands together and left the room leaving you all alone in the dark and cold basement.

“I can't believe we're stuck here because of you guys!” Chrissy groaned, you had been down here for hours now and the room didn't seem to get any cleaner.

The gray walls were still lined with old posters that had been hanging there since forever, and the desks were scratched with initials from past students who had served their time. You sighed and tried to continue cleaning. The clock on the wall ticked slowly, the minutes dragging by painfully.

Your eyes lazily scanned the room, and that's when something caught your attention in the back corner.

Curiosity tugged at you, and before you knew it, you had started to make your way over to it.

“Y/N,” Chrissy whispered harshly, “What are you doing?”

“I just… want to check something out,” Y/N muttered, brushing off the dust from the top of the box. The box had a symbol, indicating that it was not to be opened.

Jason noticed and leaned over. “What is that thing?”

You shrugged, “I don’t know… but it looks like it has been here for a while.”

Eddie stood up from his chair across the room, curiosity getting the better of him. “Open it,” he said in a low voice, leaning over you, his chin almost laying on your shoulder  “Come on, let’s see what’s inside.”

“Maybe we should leave it alone” Chrissy warned, though her eyes looked nervously toward the box as well.

Ignoring the voice of reason in your head, you carefully pried open the latch. The box creaked as it opened, revealing an old gaming console nestled inside. It was strange—unlike any console you had ever seen. It had a small screen on the front and four controllers with wires. 

Jason leaned in closer, squinting. “Dude, it looks like something out of ancient history” You rolled your eyes in your head, it didn't look that old.

Chrissy, despite her initial hesitation, stood next to Y/N. “It kind of reminds me of a Nintendo, maybe it's an old console of the company or something?” 

“Do you think we should try it?”

Eddie grinned, always up for something reckless. “We’re already in detention. What’s the worst that could happen?”  Earning nods from everyone he took the game from your hands and plugged it in the old dusty TV that was in the corner of the room. The console buzzed to life with a low hum, and the screen flickered open, displaying the name.

“Jumanji?” 

���I've never heard of this game before”

Suddenly, the screen blinked again, showing the words “Choose your player”

“Cassian Vox, the skilled leader," Eddie said as he read the name and description of one of the characters. He pressed a button on the controller signaling he had chosen his avatar.

“Come on your turn, sweetheart” he took the second controller and handed it to you, your eyes scanning over the 3 remaining characters.

“I'll be… Kyomi, the killer of men?” Eddie laughed beside you and bumped his hips against yours. 

“My turn! I'll pick Ivy, nature expert” Chrissy chose her character excitingly.

“I'll be Professor Oberon, curvy genius” Jason laughed, “of course, I'm the genius” 

Without warning, the controllers vibrated in everyone's hands. You all exchanged nervous looks. 

“Welcome to Jumanji” The sound echoed in the basement. 

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a deep, rhythmic thud filled the air.

It was slow at first—like the beat of a drum. 

Thud… Thud… Thud…

The sound reverberated through the basement, growing louder with each beat.

“What the heck is that?” Chrissy yelled over the drums beating.

You pressed your hands to your ears. The pounding wasn’t just coming from the game—it was like it was in the air, in the entire school.

“It's the game!” Jason shouted over the noise. “It’s doing something!”

Thud… Thud…

You all exchanged panicked looks as the sound grew louder, each beat shaking the ground beneath you. Chrissy's face paled, her eyes wide. “Stop this game!”

“unplug it!” Jason yelled. 

Eddie rushed forward to the cord and pulled it. For a brief second, it seemed like it was back to normal. But victory was short-lived when the game came back to life with a green explosion. 

Thud… Thud… Thud..

You felt your entire body go numb. A powerful wind whipped through the detention room, though there were no open windows.

"What's happening?!" Chrissy screamed,

“What's wrong with your hands!” Jason shouted over the drums.

“I don't- I don't know” You felt a strange pulling sensation, like something was yanking you into the console itself. Your arms were blurring into a green wave, your entire body was starting to disappear leaving the others absolutely shocked.

“What the hell!” Eddie yelled, but his voice was distant like it was coming from underwater because of how his own body was getting pulled into the game like you just had.

Both Eddie’s and Chrissy’s screams faded into the void as they were completely disappearing.

“I don't want to die!” Jason cried when his turn came.

Suddenly the room filled with noise was silent as if nobody was even there in the first place.

THUD.

You landed hard on your back, the impact knocking the breath out of your lungs. You blinked rapidly.

“What the heck?" You groaned, slowly pushing yourself up onto your elbows. The ground beneath you wasn’t the cold, tiled floor of the detention room anymore. It was soft grass?

You looked around, your eyes widening in disbelief. You weren't in the school anymore.

"Where… are we?" Chrissy’s voice was barely a whisper.

Jason and Eddie groaned, both sitting up and brushing dirt off their clothes. “Okay, what kind of joke is this!” 

You all turned facing each other but it wasn't you?

“Who are you?” Jason asked

“Who are you?” Eddie returned the question

“Who is she?” Jason ignored his question.

“Who are you guys?!” you yelled and scanned your eyes over all of them.

But nobody answered, you were all too busy noticing your new features. Your voice all sounded different, your hair and your clothes were all changed.

You looked down at yourself finally noticing the gown that you did not have on before, your hair was silky and cascading down your shoulders hidden by scarf. Your hands were bare before and now they were dressed with fingerless gloves and some kind of silver art piece.

“What happened to my hair?!” Your eyes shot up to the voice.

The guy had short jet-black hair and was dressed in black and gold armour. He had a weapon on the side of his hip and some kind of green scarf around his shoulder down to his thigh.

“What is this!” Your eyes left the guy to scan over the girl.

Her hair was a beautiful shade of red and braided to the side, a sword accompanied her pirate-looking corset and The boots she had on were almost to her knees.

“No! No, no, no!” 

The last one remaining had a bucket hat and glasses, he looked like an amateur detective. 

“I don’t like this. I don’t like this at all.”

“I think we're in the game…” you muttered.

The humidity had reached a point where it was impossible for Julie to determine how much she was actually sweating from the near endless trekking through this jungle. All she really wanted was to sit down and rest. However after learning this place had literal carnivorous flowers that wouldn’t hesitate to eat her and the incident with spiders she didn’t dare stop and risk getting left behind.

Not that she thought Reggie and Luke would purposefully leave her behind. But she was already trailing behind. Only getting further behind  with every trip and stumble, not yet as adept at traversing the terrain as the other two. 

How long had they been trapped here? They looked to be about her age.  

She yelped as her foot caught on yet another root, stumbling forward, her wandering thoughts flying out of her head as the ground quickly grew closer. 

An arm around her waist stopped her, and pulled her back against a warm body. A quick glance told her she was in Luke’s arms. 

“You ok?” Reggie asked, face full of concern as he stepped closer into her space, all but trapping her between him and Luke. His hands hovered as his gaze drifted over her. 

“Yeah, yeah fine.” She said, trying to hide out of breath she was and a little glad the heat would hide the blush burning along her cheeks. “How much more are we going to walk?” 

“Not much farther now.” Luke said, releasing his grip and staying behind her as Reggie led the way. 

Julie followed along hoping she wouldn’t have to try and remember how she got here in the first place, since everything looked the same to her. Eventually Reggie stopped at a large tree in a particularly barren portion of jungle and began climbing up a set of tangled up vines. 

Julie's eyes traced up the vines to what must be their home, little more than a dilapidated ruin of a treehouse. At least from down here that’s what it looked like. 

Thankfully, Luke didn’t need much reassurance that she could handle climbing up what essentially amounted to a rope ladder without any assistance. Further grateful that he kept his snickering and any further offers of assistance to himself. Despite how much she struggled she was going to do this herself. Besides she did not want to find out what compromising position she’d end up in if she couldn’t do this herself. 

Only compromising positions quickly became her only thought as she entered the treehouse and realized how much smaller it was than she guessed. Definitely smaller than her bedroom back home, as she squeezed herself into a corner to try and stay out of the way, as Luke and Reggie moved about the space. 

“Sorry it’s not much.” Reggie said with a shrug, as he glanced around. 

“Really it’s just the bed, if you can even call it that.” Luke added, with a sheepish nod toward the assorted fabrics and piles of what Julie had to assume were leaves that took up a good portion of the floor. 

“Is this okay?” 

“It’s more than okay.” She said, unsure what she even would have done if they hadn’t come along. Certain she very much owed these two her life a hundred times over by now with all the ways she could have wound up dead. “Definitely better than ending up dead or eaten alive, anyway.”

She grimaced as her forced laugh did nothing to try and turn her phrase into a joke. If anything Luke and Reggie’s faces crumpled even more and it broke what tenuous grip Julie had on powering through her situation. She hadn’t even realized how close she had been to crying so focused on following Luke and Reggie to some sort of shelter. 

They quickly wrapped her up in a hug, whispering apologies against her hair as her crying only grew worse. They didn’t say it out loud but she could hear it in the finality of their tones. They all were as good as dead in their current situation, trapped in a jungle with no way of getting out or contacting home. 

All they were doing now was prolonging the inevitable on the slim hope someone else could pull them free.

Julie’s grip tightened on their arms as she willed those nefarious thoughts out of her mind. Luke and Reggie had survived this long, however long it had been, she could too. 

She would cling to that small hope of rescue for as long as she could just as tightly as her nails dug into their arms.

I dreamt the latest ep of doctor who was a literal board game sent out to each and every viewer. and so many people were mad bc the prev episode had hinted at being a 2-parter that would bring back a beloved classic-era character and then it wasn't that. and i was so ready to pick up this game and join the hate train but once I started playing i was like oh shit this is actually cool as fuck...

it was a single-player logic (escape-the-room style logic) game that actually ran about the length of an episode and had a plot arc built into it, with the materials including a small unfoldable game board, prompt cards with dialogue from the characters, set of dice, some little crystal tokens to collect, and other kind of. 'puzzle box'-type doodads to solve using the clues you unraveled. like YOU'RE the guest-companion of the episode... oh it was so fun and it was somehow suited for all (well, most) ages, like no matter your age it was challenging but doable and made you feel so fucking smart once you figured it out.

David Soren is a solid movie director if CU is anything to go by. 2D would be cool but at the same time style consistency and model sheets might be a nightmare, so I can understand why they're probably gonna do 3D animation instead. Look, if they use stylized 3D animation it'd be so cool--

So I recently listened to the latest episode of the "Split the Veil" podcast, in which Caitie (Ghil Dirthalen) talked a bit about her experience as a member of the Community Council, where she got to play some of the early builds of the game to provide feedback for the devs. It's really interesting and obviously, she can't talk about anything that BioWare hasn't revealed yet (which must be SO hard to keep quiet for two years 😂), but there was one thing that stood out to me and while she kept it frustratingly vague, it might be a liiittle spoilery..? So I put it under a cut!

So basically, she got to see what happens right after the Gameplay Showcase cuts off and she's dying to talk about what happens next because it's obviously a huge deal... so all she said was (quote) "It's so fucking funny, but it's not the tone that's funny".

And I'm sitting here like ???????? Like, what the heck, that's got to be the last thing I was expecting to hear. 😂 And now my imagination is running wild, like how are we going from "The Evil Gods are here, someone's gonna die probably, the world is doomed" to "That's so fucking funny" if it's not the tone? lol

I need you guys to give me some ideas please... Here are some of mine:

the Evanuris will pick Solas up and drag him like a ragdoll

after the gods emerge, Hawke stumbles out right behind them, looking like Robin Williams "What Year Is It" in Jumanji, visibly confused

there will be a hard cut to Varric sitting in a chair, cuz all of the prologue was actually made up

Also, another interesting titbit, in a recent video from Playstation Access, someone who also got to see the full scene at their demo, talked about how the graphics were so impressive, especially in the final moments, describing it as a "raging, magical storm/stuff flying about all over the place" and "a big swirling vortex of chaos" (are they referring to what we've seen during the showcase or something that happens right after? 🤔

The Minecraft movie........

I've been playing Minecraft for as long as I can remember. My brother and I would spend hours on Hypixel, our survival world, and building escape rooms for each other (the exit would no doubt be behind a painting). As a movie fanatic, a film about Minecraft sounds like such a fun concept with great potential yet from the look from the teaser trailer it seems like all that potential will remain unused.

Plenty of people have already commented on how it looks, which let’s be frank, is terrible. This post, however, is not about the look but the story so here is a summary: The set design is quite nice except it does not look like any Minecraft biome. The people look extremely out of place, especially Steve who is supposed to be part of this world. Last but not least, there are moving, working windmills. Anyone who has played Minecraft will probably feel the same way about this, which is not happy. This is the main problem, the makers have maybe watched 1 Let’s Play. They don’t know the Minecraft experience. They haven’t played hardcore survival and felt the pain when you die because your elytra breaks, they have never gone mining at 2 am on a rainy night or have built a beautiful base they a proud of.

Which brings us to the soulless plot. For anyone unfamiliar, this is what Warner Bros. describes it as: “Four misfits—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison, Henry, Natalie and Dawn—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve. Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.”

That made me throw up in my mouth a little. Minecraft is such a fun and unique game and this is what they come up with? Minecraft is a game about being creative and there are literally endless possibilities. This plot has nothing to do with the actual game and could be applied to any video game. Speaking of other games, it hasn’t escaped anyone’s notice that this is the exact plot of the movie Jumanji.

I’m secretly hoping they pull a Sonic and fix the movie at the last minute but I don’t think that is realistic. I don’t think all is lost though, Emma Myers (who plays Natalie) is, in my opinion, a great addition to the cast and is funny and talented. The rest of the cast isn’t much to write home about, unfortunately. As stated before, I do think the set has a cool look to it, it is just a shame that it doesn’t look like Minecraft.

Here is what I would do if I were in charge:

Firstly the whole cast is going. I would make it an animated film, Minecraft isn’t a realistic game and it doesn’t come across well in live-action. Steve and Alex would be the main characters.

The movie would have an entirely different plot and would either focus on Steve and Alex trying to defeat the Enderdragon for the first time, etc. (I think this is a bit basic but sometimes less is more)

Or it could be about the lore of the Enderdragon, Endermen, Ghasts, etc. and what happened to them and how they ended up where they are. There are so many theories about this online and it’s a side of that Minecraft hasn't been explored yet.

Another option could be about the villagers and pillagers. It would be cool to see more of their history and maybe Steve meddling to make peace or something in that direction. Think about how cool raids could be in movie form.

(see how I just thought of 3 way more original and fun plots off the top of my head when the writers couldn’t think of a singular one in months)-

A MUST for me is the classic Minecraft music. It should be in the trailer, in the movie, it should be everywhere. It is so nostalgic and everyone who has ever played Minecraft knows how iconic it is. (not saying it is not in the movie right now, I obviously haven’t seen it yet but wanted to include this point)

I think it could be cool if, for example, Steve would find a new biome or a new item and then we would get it in the game in an update. It would show a real connection between the movie and the game which is missing right now. (again not saying they won’t do this but I’m not getting my hopes up)

Besides all this, it would be amazing to see jokes and references to the actual game. Think forgetting to set your spawnpoint, inventory being full, etc.

And lastly, I NEED to see Minecraft YouTuber's references. I think they might do this, I’ve seen multiple YouTubers talk about the movie and I know Mumbo visited the set, so there is a possibility. Minecraft has one of the biggest YouTube communities, not referencing it would be a missed opportunity for sure.

I don’t think this movie will be especially bad, from the looks of it, it’s going to be a whole lot of meh. I do want to say that I have not seen the movie yet as it isn’t out yet, this means that a lot could still change (please please please). I will be in the cinema on April 4th with low expectations but high hopes, I have never wanted to be wrong more. Let me know what you think and thank you for reading all the way to the end <3

He talks a lot during movies but hates when others do it

While he enjoys a good adventure movie, he hates superhero movies and he thinks they're silly

He prefers movies over series because he likes the format more, but he's down for a short series

He is a crier as well but only when he's just with you

Jack is the type of guy to retain various informations after watching something

He can sometimes memorise entire scenes, and he finds that habit less annoying when he watches documentaries; he likes something informative and motivational

Jack also enjoys some romance movies sometimes, but he is very picky so it's hard for him to find one he actually likes

He does, however, like to point out and comment on the weird courting habits humans have

Jack finds telenovelas and soap operas kind of nonsensical and overly dramatic, but he also gets hooked on the plot pretty quick and soon enough it would become a bit of a guilty pleasure

If you think Ace is bad with his mid watch commentary, Epel is 10 times worse

He won't shut up even if you give him all the snacks, he'll talk while eating

He also has the most colourful, boisterous, ridiculous laughter imaginable (and I say that lovingly), so if the comedy movie is not making you laugh then Epel's laughter is

Epel is not a picky watcher so he can get behind anything that isn't too sappy

If you pull out anything with Vil on the poster though he will dematerialise from your couch

Ortho's preferred genres are: anything he finds intriguing, family movies

If anything, Ortho has a wide palate and can enjoy almost anything

He also knows how a movie ends before he watches it, but it never ruins his enjoyment

He never spoils anyone unless they try to argue with him about the direction of the plot

Most of his interest in movies came from wanting to understand human behavior better, but now he can just use them as a time killer or sleepover material

He also likes watching your reactions to the movies: how often you laugh, how often you cry, how often you reach for snacks

A favorite from your world: Big Hero 6

Sebek's preferred genres are: historical films, (period) dramas, musicals with the right nudge

Listen here, musical enjoyers. Here is the most susceptible one to being convinced to join the dark side

One word: Hamilton.

Yes, he'll think the music is nonsensical, BUT he'll also tap his foot to it

AND if you say anything about teaching him something from the soundtrack to surprise Malleus with, he's all ears

He is also very quick to get songs stuck in his head: he's easy prey

All jokes aside, Sebek can be a good watch buddy when his interest is piqued

Not even he can deny when a movie has good plot and characters

He does prefer period dramas, since he has a soft spot for the setting

And historical films: a nerd do be nerding even during movie nights

Everyone went to watch both movies:

Deuce got confused by the "dresscode" and apologised to you for not knowing about it

Jack and Ortho enjoyed both

Epel insisted he liked Oppenheimer more but he's lying

Sebek cried at the end of Barbie

Grim is the only one who in fully in Oppenheimer's corner

yeah, the corn did not talk to me in the slightest! not even in an abstract sense, which i would have taken anyday over their frankly rude radio silence

and i knoooow the forest is better, but not for doing flips and stuff! the bark on the branches is hard and scratchy and uneven for circling around to build momentum, and scratchy leaf piles means your feet could slip out from underneath you when you land!!!! jungle gyms may be named after jungles, but theres a reason that chimpanzees didnt invent gymnastics or anything like that

TLG Outlanders Jumanji AU that i have suddenly become obsessed with :) buckle up

i'm mainly basing this off of the 2017 movie, with elements of the 2019 one too

wema, tunu, dogo and kijana are playing when they find a hidden cave, they go in and they find lots of weird paintings on the wall and the floor. ever the inquisitive one, dogo steps into a circle in the middle and they all get sucked into... Jumanji?? or maybe in the TLG universe it's called Mchezo

the adults look for them. the leaders (plus kenge and sumu) and the idiots (plus mwoga, nne, tano and neema) go in two groups to search since the kids were missing for a while. the leaders find the hidden cave first as sumu noticed it in his small size. they get sucked in, and eventually the idiots find it after them

they turn into human versions upon entering the world. yeah they're pretty freaked out lmao

the premise is that they go through trials to "prove" themselves, at the risk of their 3 lives, to get to the final task of saving the kiddos. i'm thinking each of them get a task focused on their skills but all of them are at the will of it, aka any of them could lose a life in any trial

i think the Strengths & Weaknesses bit would be funny. kiburi has no weaknesses, he says smth like "I'm too good to be weak 😏" and then 'Pride' pops up hfgdhdh. tamka's weakness would be cake because i think it'd be funny. nduli's is picking up cool rocks. i would say goigoi's would be sleeping but he'd lose all 3 in an instant. the list goes on

reirei is mad because she gets the boring map-reader job lol, despite that she saves everyone's asses so

i imagine sumu is like Milo, he gives them the information in a really deadpan tone lmao. it's like "... Oh no..." "Spit it out, will you?!" "... Mandrills. We should go" and he just continues spilling knowledge while they're running for their lives lmao

you know how in the second movie Bethany/Milo is a horse? yeah nne and tano are straight up just themselves- they're hyenas but realistic, like they didn't change 💀 they're just there doing hyena laughs and absolutely savaging people in the fights

the ostrich scene from the second movie would be funny. maybe the hyenas are the drivers 👀 NONE of them trust their lives with janja, chungu or cheezi but somefuckinghow.. they don't die

in a trial where the leaders are really trapped, guess who sneaks in and saves them? Ushari!!! that was actually all of their reactions as soon as he spoke and they knew it was him. shupavu hugs him on impulse and then gets awkward about it lol, they're happy to see him

ushari explains how he didn't actually die when scar was destroyed but he escaped the volcano and happened across the hidden cave. he's been trapped ever since and obviously presumed dead. he's been stuck with 1 life because he needed the others to complete the rest of the trials :(

there's a dance fight where kiburi has to defeat the guards without being all guns blazing about it. literally the same as the scene with Martha. it's so funny at first bc he doesn't know what the fuck to do - i hc him as demi, he can't flirt with someone he doesn't know😭 - but when a song (prolly rap?) starts playing he beats their asses easy

little did they know the exact same thing was happening on the opposite side of the building, just with the idiots. tamka, nduli and neema also get their cool moment of beating people up, dance fight style! it's mainly tamka because he actually DOES have a strength in acting :)

the leaders and the idiots enter the building at the same time and it's an "Oh Shit!" spiderman pointing meme moment lmao. from this point on they do the trials together

the vultures fly the helicopters. you can imagine how well that goes. it's just like in the movie where something immediately breaks 😭 i think it'd be cool if kenge was the one to fix the helicopter, giving him a hero moment! imagine it

"I dropped the jewel 😶"

janja loses a life in that scene from the rhinos 😭 do i wanna traumatise mzingo that much? idk. i just feel like that is such a janja thing to happen. fridge's character is janja-coded lmfao

that scene where fridge pushes spencer off a cliff? yeah that obviously happens. i'm thinking reirei and janja squabbling. would be funny if janja pushes reirei off impulsively and he just stands there, in shock, waiting to get yelled at when she respawns 😭

there's one of those Step On The Right Pieces trials. kiburi is being all cocky, steps on the wrong one and loses a life- bro gets absolutely humbled lmao. i think the skinks would be good at that trial for some reason

some random trial ideas: a "sleeping lions" type trial for goigoi. a "follow (copy) the leader" trial for mzingo. a food temptation one for the idiots??

jasiri definitely has a trial where she helps someone or shows that the "bad guy" NPCs can be good or somethin. that's probably the last trial before the finale

at the last trial they all work together to save the kiddos! it's really wholesome at the end because they saved the kids, they actually achieved something, they worked together, AND they got ushari back! :)

bonus:

based on the second movie, i was considering a different version of this au where janja purposefully enters the game to prove himself and it's more of a lesson of how it's not just about his strength, but the strength of all of them

janja just thinks he ain't good enough, especially not being leader of his clan anymore, but it's through working together when the others come after him that he realises that ain't true. just an extra thought i had :)

might make a follow up post because i came up with this in an afternoon just for fun 😭

Okay. Medium-sized Dragon Age Veilguard rant, but not quite what you're thinking. I don't think I'll really talk about any spoilers, but like, just in case: Possible Lucanis quest spoilers below.

Okay, so I know it's a nitpick on my part, but why does Lucanis break out of jail runway ready?

The man has been waiting with a demon in his head for the better part of a year for the right opportunity for a jail break. He should look like Robin William's character after getting summoned out of Jumanji. He clearly doesn't even have weapons yet, and he somehow snuck his armor into his cell and put it on without his ever-present guards noticing?

Imagine the scene starting out normal- Rook walking in and requesting the Demon of Vyrantium to the guards- only for a man wearing prison rags and glowing eyes peeking out from the long ebony hair spilling in his face to jump out and start killing the guards. The motions are calculated despite being unarmed, and any blind spots this man has are covered by the glowing wings sprouting from his back. The last Venatori falls, and he asks who you are in a voice long unused to speaking. You explain that Caterina sent you as he walks over to a table in the corner - never taking his eyes off you as he does. You realize as you speak that he is putting on his armor and that this is, in fact, the man you were sent to free as he turns to face you proper and pushes the hair from out of his face. Help him finish his job, and Lucanis Dellamorte, the Demon of Vyrantium, is at your service.

You could even do a fun little joke item and make prison rags a cosmetic you pick up from the Ossuary. "The tattered prisoner's uniform from Zara’s twisted experiments. There is no logical reason why anyone would choose to wear this."

Okay, second order of business: What is that glowing blue object in Lucanis' cell? Is it ice? Is it crystal? It shouldn’t be lyrium because that shit's poisonous. And if it is ice or stone- why?

I get that it is a cool looking backdrop for Lucanis' sick ass fight scene; I get that. But, like, do they put him in it? Was he supposed to be in there? He didn't break out of it, he jumped up from behind it.

If you’re trying to wait for or incubate a demon out of this man, there is no need to break out the 7 foot block of ice. Chains would work fine. You already fed him the demon, now you just have to wait, right? Sure, maybe he's killed and/or maimed a handful of guards over the past year, but really, Calivan? The ice? Do you know how hard it is to maintain that? To keep it from melting? It's a waste of mages and ice.

Look, despite all of bullshit, I enjoy playing this game. I love Lucanis, and the game is gorgeous to look at. I had fun. But it's been 10 years- *10 years* for them to get their shit together. I'm gonna be a little overly critical.
