I'd like to think Dylan has hit upon an aspect of Alek's character that I hold near and dear to my heart: He Needs A Job. Not in a "Jobless Behavior" sort of way (although that is sometimes true). He needs a job in a Herding Dog kind of way.

Alek needs to feel useful and actually do something. It's why he tags along with the middies, it's why he was the happiest he'd been in a while when they gave him the machine to build, it's how they got him to leave the castle in the first place. If he does not have A Job, he will give himself A Job. Like secretly bringing medicine across a glacier to a downed airship. Or joining a revolution.

So here, Dylan's given him a job where Alek is a) part of the important conversation, and 2) doing something that actually utilizes his skill set. It's enrichment!! I don't know if Dylan did it on purpose or if it was a happy coincidence, but I love it all the same.

so i was practicing again even though im sick and i keep losing my voice ✌✌✌ but the important part is trying to sing quietly enough so that the neighbours dog doesn't howl anymore.....

Throughout July, we’re accepting Kinktober writer sign-ups. We have a total of 62 slots open for writers to join; this will allow us to post two fics every day of October. The Google Form to sign up is linked at the bottom of this post!

All we need from you is to answer each question on the Google Form:

Start by giving us your Tumblr URL so that we can contact you.

Tell us which fandoms you would be open to writing a prompt for. There are the 15 fandoms to choose from: Attack on Titan, Blue Lock, Bungo Stray Dogs, Chainsaw Man, Demon Slayer, Genshin Impact, Haikyuu!!, Honkai Star Rail, Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, Obey Me, One Piece, Resident Evil, Tokyo Revengers, and Wind Breaker.

After you select which of these fandoms you’d be open to writing for, we will ask you a couple more questions: Would you be willing to take more than one prompt (in the event that we do not reach 62 writer sign-ups)? Would you be willing to be a “backup” in the event that another writer drops out last minute? Feel free to say no to these questions if you’d only like to sign up for one fic; these are strictly optional!

↳ After answering the form, there’s nothing else you need to do to sign up! You won’t hear from us until we open our request form in August so we can assign you a prompt. You have the right to reject the request if it’s something that makes you uncomfortable; we will try our best to assign you something that you will be happy to write.

↳ Once the writer sign-ups close, we’ll tally up how many writers signed up for each fandom and distribute the slots accordingly. For example: if 30% of the responses are for JJK, then 30% of the 62 slots will be reserved for JJK requests. Our goal is to proportionally match writers with requests. The available kinks and fandoms are on our Kinktober spreadsheet, as well as updates on the status of participating writers. We will do our best to keep this updated.

↳ About 60 people responded to our interest form saying that they would join as a writer for this event, leaving us just shy of 62 writers. If we have less than 62 sign ups, we may need to assign a few writers multiple requests. If we do fill all 62 slots and more writers want to join, we may create a “waitlist” where—if a writer drops out—someone from the waitlist will take their place.

↳ We’ll keep you updated about whether or not we fill all 62 slots. You can also see this on your own in the spreadsheet.

Some notes about how the event will work:

↳ The spreadsheet contains a “bucket” of kinks which requesters choose from. We would like each person to choose a different kink, but will allow up to one repeat per kink. We ask that you take the requested kink and character(s) we send to you and, after confirming that you’re okay with it, create your own short fic between 500 and 1000 words. There are no restrictions as to what you can write about; dark content is acceptable. We ask that you try to write a gender neutral reader for as much inclusivity as possible. And again: if you are uncomfortable with or feel unable to execute your assigned prompt, please feel free to ask us for a different one. We will try our best to accommodate you.

↳ If you join Kinktober as a writer, please have your DMs or ask box open, and anticipate communication from the mods (either Aleks or Kae) as we reach out to you during August to assign you a prompt. At the time that you confirm an assignment, we will also assign you a date to post it.
