we're on like game 11 in the trails series and i still think colonel richard is the best villain the series has ever had. his motivations make sense (we didn't so much win round one with erebonia so much as they decided to stop fighting and we're fucked if they come for round two), he has good reasons to not just kill the heroes immediately (i see myself as a patriot and i respect estelle's dad), his fighting style is cool, and he even gets an interesting post-antagonist character arc. yeah he was just a pawn in someone else's scheme in the end but i prefer it when villains in trails are more concerned with the geopolitics of the present rather than some ancient bullshit/philosophical debate/metaphysical nonsense. i hope he shows up in a future game.

Alan ended up being one of my favorites, he may be a former enemy of the state but he's 'my' former enemy of the state!

I love Alan Richard so much. He is such an amazing character. Like my love for him was originally meming with some friends because of his white ass name, but he’s helped me a lot with reminding me to always continue to work to improving myself.
Also just imagining him being like
“My dear princess Laura, I love you so much. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep you happy and safe.”
“If it means I must take up swordsmanship once more, I will become your personal knight.”
