Michael Schur created the Good Place and just released a book on philosophy, particularly the teachings he found the most interesting. The audiobook has him as the main narrator, but Todd May (professional philosopher) and the main cast of the show also read for it. I'm not far at all in it, barely chapter two, but I can tell you this: Ted Danson needs to do more voice work.

My favourite part of every The Good Place episode is where one character is like "this is just like [philosophical concept]" and then someone else is like "wtf is [philosophical concept]" so then they have to explain it to everyone. All the vibes of a channel 4 educational kids show but for adults to engage in.

The tragedy of weird Al's Hardware Store is that in his excitement to be the very first in line he deprives himself of the chance to be the 27th customer thus losing his chance to get a free ball peen hammer.
Though perhaps the novelty of being very first outweighs the material value of the hammer, much to think about.

HIII!!!! Do you think Batman likes philosophy? and I would like to be your friend!
I think Bruce would LOVEEE philosophy, actually I think it would be one of the things he would’ve studied during the creation of Batman. Moral and general philosophies would be very important to him as a superhero/vigilante. I wouldn’t be completely surprised if it’s one of the things he studied in the League, because Ra’s seems like the type to hoard old texts like that even if they don’t match up with his beliefs.
Anyway I think Bruce would like Socrates, as he was the founder of Western philosophy and is widely recognized among the first moral philosophers.
He’d, and I don’t have a super wide knowledge of philosophers so forgive me, also enjoy Confucius, Kant, Hypatia of Alexandria, and other scientific philosophers like Descartes and Pythagoras.

From The Tawasin by Mansur al-Hallaj
[Excerpt from the "The Ta-Sin of the Point" section.]
8. I am absorbed in the sea of the depths of eternity and he who reaches the circle of Truth is occupied on the shore of the sea of knowledge with his own knowledge. He is absent from my vision.
9. I saw a certain bird from the selves of the Sufis which flew with the two wings of Sufism. He denied my glory as he persisted in his flight.
10. He asked me about purity and I said to him: Cut your wings with the shears of annihilation. If not you cannot follow me.
11. He said to me: I fly with my wings to my Beloved. I said to him: Alas for thee! Because there is naught like Him, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing. So then he fell into the sea of understanding and was drowned.
12. One can represent the ocean of understanding thus:
Tumblr media
I saw my Lord with the eye of my heart
I saw: Who are You? He said: You!
But for You, where cannot have a place
And there is no where when it concerns You.
The mind has no image of your existence in time
Which would permit the mind to know where you are.
You are the one who encompasses every where
Up to the point of no-where
So where are you?
.
.
