(pretend I didn't spell Tsubomis last name wrong) Since you're here, check this out:
https://gofund.me/c1544f1a
Please read Jaber's story, share, and donate if you can. He is trying to evacuate his wife and 2yo son out of Gaza and bring them to Kuwait to start a new life.
This is a vetted fundraiser, more info under cut. Low on funds, $353 / $29,000
Vetted by association here. (Confirmed to be real by another vetted person). More info + visit his blog in this post
In his words:
"My name is Jaber AlHaj, a graduate with honors in Applied Chemistry. I currently reside in Kuwait, but my heart and thoughts are constantly with my family, who remain in Gaza amidst the ongoing war and devastation. My wife, Muna, and our 2-year-old son, Hashem, live under the constant threat of violence and uncertainty. Every day, I worry about their safety and well-being, and my greatest wish is to bring them to Kuwait, where they can find peace, security, and a fresh start.
After graduating, I turned my passion for chemistry into action by starting a small business in Gaza with my brother, Aboud. Together, we established a small lab for manufacturing essential household cleaning products. We began with the most basic resources, tirelessly conducting experiments to perfect our formulas. Over time, this modest project evolved into a stable source of income that supported not only myself but also my brother and our family.
We dreamed of expanding our business further, creating more job opportunities, and making a difference in our community. But all of our aspirations were cut short. The relentless bombardment and airstrikes on Gaza destroyed everything we worked so hard to build. Our lab and equipment were reduced to rubble, and the future we envisioned disappeared overnight.
The war didn’t just take away our business; it also separated me from my family. It has been over a year since I’ve seen my wife and child in person. Unable to travel back to Gaza, I feel helpless being so far away from them during these difficult times. Despite all my efforts, it has been equally challenging to bring them to Kuwait, where I could offer them the safety and stability they so desperately need.
The Goal of This Campaign
I have set a goal to raise $29,000 to help me:
Bring My Family to Safety: Secure the necessary funds to relocate my wife, Muna, and our son, Hashem, from Gaza to Kuwait. This would mean everything to me—to finally reunite with them and ensure their well-being, far away from the horrors of war.
Rebuild Our Business and Dream: Reestablish our lab and business in Gaza alongside my brother, Aboud. With these funds, we can purchase equipment, secure a new location, and restart production. This would give us a chance to rebuild our lives and restore the hope that was lost.
Your support will not only help me reunite with my family and provide them with a better, safer life but will also enable us to rebuild a business that once sustained us and gave us purpose. Every contribution, no matter how small, will bring us one step closer to achieving these two crucial goals.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and for standing with us during this challenging time.
Warm regards,
Jaber Al-Haj"

"The “Düsseldorf Patient”, a man now aged 53, is just the third person worldwide to have been completely cured of HIV via stem cell transplantation.
As in the case of the other two patients, the so-called “Berlin Patient” and “London Patient,” the transplantation was undertaken to treat an acute blood disease, which had developed in addition to the HIV infection.
The Düsseldorf Patient received a stem cell transplant used to treat leukemia in 2013 and has shown persistent suppression of HIV-1 ever since, including during the last 4 years after the patient stopped taking anti-retroviral medication.
“I still remember very well the sentence from my family doctor: ‘don’t take it so hard,'” the Düsseldorf Patient, who had leukemia as well as HIV-1, said in a statement. “‘We will experience together that HIV can be cured!’ At the time, I dismissed the statement.”
Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a procedure used to treat certain cancers, such as leukemia, by transferring immature blood cells from a donor to repopulate the bone marrow of the recipient.
Scientists now understand that individuals with two copies of the Δ32 mutation in the gene for the HIV-1 co-receptor CCR5; are resistant to HIV-1 infection. The two previous cases of both the London patient and the Berlin patient involved receiving a stem cell transplant from a donor with these unique mutations.
Björn-Erik Jensen, a specialist in infectious diseases at Düsseldorf University Hospital, lead the treatment and subsequent research, revealed today in a peer-reviewed study in Nature.
The patient was diagnosed as having acute myeloid leukemia and proceeded to undergo transplantation of stem cells from a female donor in 2013, followed by chemotherapy and infusions of donor lymphocytes.
After the transplantation, anti-retroviral therapy was continued, but HIV was undetectable in the patient’s blood cells. Anti-retroviral therapy was suspended in November 2018 with the patient’s informed consent, almost 6 years after the stem cell transplantation, to determine whether the virus persisted in the patient.
“I very much hope that these doctors will now get even more attention for their work,” said the patient. “I have now decided to give up some of my private life to support research fundraising. And of course, it will also stay very important for me to fight the stigmatization of HIV with my story.”
The authors conclude that although HSCT remains a high-risk procedure that is at present an option only for some people living with both HIV-1 and hematological cancers, these results may inform future strategies for achieving long-term remission of HIV-1."

A day of magic
9/17/1990
Monday 9:59pm
A day of magic—
The weekend whispered and
Blew sweet nothings into the
Day.
A silent virus
sang, too
And
The combination kept me home.
And the house came together
In the most
Fantastic of ways.
Letters were written
Mom thinks Ruth
may be dying.
She is again ill, weak and vomiting.
Poor thing
“Write her” said Mom.
Arturo and I had a good talk.
He seeks a cure.
I support him in that.
 “I wanna live
I wanna live”
He treats his body in the best of ways.
At his home, I could
hear hammer
Pounding
I could hear
Brash music
Playing.
His family calls.
What wants to happen?
Life wants to happen!
And just as I was thinking—
Wow—no phone calls except from Mom in 3 days—
The phone rings—it’s Cliff , the 4th admirer
I know him. My heart sank.
Gay, older
But, as he spoke, it
Lifted.
He sounds interesting and fun.
We go out to dinner
Friday night.
End of entry
Notes:August 5, 2024
Ruth was my Mothers older sister. Ruth died in November or December of 1990 of cancer. She first exhibited symptoms at a family reunion in Lincoln Nebraska in August of 1990. My Mother, Father and I  also attended the reunion.
Arturo was my Hand to Hand Aid’s match. He died of Aids in February 1994. Hand to Hand was a volunteer organization in which we were matched with people with AIDS and helped them through their illness and death. HIV AIDS preventative medication did not come along until 1995. But in 1990, Arturo thought he could find a cure in a healing spring in Mexico. He and his family journeyed to that spring. I encouraged him to go.
According to the journal, I had 4 guys who liked me in  September of 1990. Cliff was one of them.

For t$$: What would be everyone's role in a zombie apocalypse?
I picture them all being a part of a community of survivors that have made a kind of peaceful life
Kaius would be aiding in the research to find a cure
Joy is in the armory (ofc), and manufactures bullets once supply starts running low
Jericho is with the medics most of the time, helping take care of patients and supporting Marla (who has more med knowledge)
Benji is a scavenger since he's good at sneaking around and can pick locks to find better supplies
Hunter is Benjis's partner for scav missions because he's more combat adept and keeps our boi safe
Vic and Sahota would be part of a raider group who come along to stir things up and ruin lives
