Yeah, sort of!
The unreliable Narrator being a Thing means this isn’t a FACT, but there’s a couple of threads. One of the larger ones is the existence of the Dragons- as they are both his children, and shards of his very being.
Oh, and a part of the Alessian Order, the Marukhati Selectives may have created / tried to change Akatosh by removing his Elven Aspects, as he’s part Auriel.
(As Alessia’s Imperial Pantheon is a fusion of Man-Mer Religion to foster coherency and cooperation. And YES! This means that Auriel and Alduin are technically OLDER than Akatosh anthropologically as they’re the Elven and Nord Gods that were partial inspirations!)
Basically they realised God didn’t fit with their theology and their response was to. Break God. Via the power of Interpretive Dance. On the White Gold Tower.
(The Tower and Wheel shape of the imperial City? Made intentionally by the Ayleids to mimic the shape of the Universe so it could be manipulated. Not fully working obviously, but it can Do Things)
Now, the Marukhati Selectives Sledgehammering their Top God in the Face did have at least one consequence; causing a Dragon Break. (Basically when Akatosh goes on a mental breakdown causing Linear Time to get all Fucky. It was Very Traumatic for everyone. Daggerfall has one happen too!)
There’s also how the world was created- the Imperial Creation Myth is quite sanitized, with the Aedra willingly going along with Lorkhan and basically Killing Themselves to create the world. This is correct. Elven and Nord myths, on the other hand, state that the Gods Did Not Get Along and waged War on each other.
With the Elves calling it “The War of Manifest Metaphors”. Which is a really cool term for it!
I will add that Elven and Nord myths demonize each other’s Pantheons due to different perspectives on existence.
Auriel was seen as a King who wished to preserve what was left, slay Lorkhan as punishment for his betrayal and Ascend into Aetherius as an example to his people (Elves generally believe that the Mortal Plane is a Trap and that we have to escape it. Everyone, except men in the more Racially Charged theological ideas, was a God! Aetherius and the Idea of Heaven acts as one of those ways!) Auriel, as Time, Preserves and keeps purity.
And I assume technological /magical advancement would be seen as ‘closing the gap’ to what everyone once was.
The Nords see Auriel as.. a Tyrant God, an opponent. I don’t think hes mentioned much in and of himself. But we do have a rather notable Time Daddy who is a King and head of the Pantheon.
Alduin! (Who gets kicked out later on)
So we have Two personalities who are different and opposing views of Time, and Authority, as both Auriel and Alduin are also Kings and have that as their sphere (as does Akatosh).
I can see why Akatosh is a bit loopy. Especially with Alduin also being his Son.
Something to note with all this is that the Imperial Position is that the Gods ‘Dream they are Alive through Mortal Belief’. Which could explain why thing contradict so much, yet still exist.
Oh and the Nords?
Their view of Time and existence was Cyclical- a battle with Gods rising and falling, with Shor (their Lorkhan) being, er, Mostly Dead, and with Talos (or rather the position of Ysmir that he filled) being the potential God of the coming age, and is filling Shor’s shoes. Though not replacing him. Shor is still the God of the Honored Dead. As opposed to Nord Arkay, who was considered An Opponent.
Another note; before Talos, Kyne was the Head of the Nord Pantheon!
We see hints of this in Skyrim with the Murals in Nord Tombs, Frollo Whetted-blade and some of Maramal’s ways of describing Mara (handmaiden of Kyne), but SOMEONE didn’t include it. Boo.
Imagine how good the Elder Scrolls could be if the writers stopped throwing darts at the Daedric Princes whenever they needed a new villain of the week, or at least remembered that the fundmental distinction between the Daedra and their counterparts is that the Daedra chose not to give of themselves to make Mundus and that as much as they are fascinated by mortals they are, being inextricably tied to their nature, fundamentally alien to mortality.
I personally find them more satisfying as being dangerous because they act in accordance with their sphere without reservation rather than just being slightly reskinned Evil Demon Gods.
Like you kiiiiiind of get that with Hircine but explain to me why the servants of the goddess of night and darkness and luck, for example, are universally malicious and cruel and tormented just because? By all means let them be dangerous and scary but the cartoonish evil-for-its-own-sake is so much more boring than the alternative idea of "The royalty of Oblivion is capricious and considers mortals fun to watch or fuck around with or occasionally use as tools/pawns/champions while they're all busy playing 16 way, 5 dimensional chess with each other for some purpose we do not and likely cannot understand."

Dipping my toes into Elder Scrolls lore for the first time: we know about Meridia and the Magna-Ge, yeah, but I feel like Azura has - or had - something to do with Akatosh/Auri-El.
He's literally Time incarnate. Azura gives prophecies. She's also Lady of Dawn and Dusk, and her symbols are a moon and star. The star - and her literal Star item - has pointed rays that could just as easily be a sun design. The Snow Elves worshipped Auri-El in Skyrim with a heavy sun theme. In Morrowind, the Nine Divines are implied to be cool with her major goals at that point, or at least cool with the idea of a Nerevarine enough to show up in person (?) along the way in side quests.
Then I just looked up her role in the Khajiit religion, in which she literally has Auri-El's role cutting the heart from Lorkhan.
Does anyone know . . . what her deal is?

A Taste of Faith
[PRINT] - [COMMISSIONS]
Ok so the concept for this piece was : historical gay nuns, and 70s lesbian vampire movies meets tes (don't ask me why- I just had a vision at 3 am)
Because I think Serana should have been meaner<3 I love women's wrongs and when vampires do the suck <3
Btw of you want to see more gay Serana art, go check out @gay-of-waterdeep, their art is wonderful, and I can't say this was not a bit inspired by what they do :))
Process (and me rambling about some of my favorite 70s lesbian vampire movies (because I have a problem)) below vvv
Additional details about this drawing ! 1) I used the same Mara design than the one from my tarot deck :)) and 2) the other woman is one of the priestess in the temple in Riften lglggigkglgl her name is *check wiki* Dinya Balu
And now......... Some movies I enjoy because my house my rules, you came this far so why not hear about niche european movies :))))))
Disclaimer for a majority of the films in this genre : the male gaze is very fucking obvious in these movies... they were made by men for men, and the message is often "lesbianism is a dangerous temptation for women". It's a glairing flaw nearly all of them share and that sucks (and frankly it's a flaw Serana's writting kinda has in my opinion, minus the lesbianism part, but let's not dwell on that)- so if you can't get past it, it's completly understandable, be on your way and have a nice day <3
- Daughters of Darkness ! A toxic man is returning to london with his newly wed wife, but they get stuck in Belgium and are forced to stay in a luxurious hotel. Don't worry about the 10/10 smokeshow countess seducing his wife :). Completely unrelated, this movie has, in my opinion, the most beautiful lesbian kiss I've ever seen- but I might not be very objective because Delphine Seyrig is there lglglflflllglm The best one in the list ! So if you want to whatch one, whatch this one <3
- The blood spattered bride ! This is more of... an aquired taste let's say- but I really like it ! A quite effective horror movie, with goofy ass scenes (shoutout to the vampire lady buried in the sand naked with only a diving mask that is not the screenshot because tits), and emasculation being a recuring theme <3 (but if you want to watch it, please check the content warnings beforehand, it has a lot of very shocking and frontal scenes, and it's the 70s so it's not done very tactfully. Also pretty intense flashing lights)
- The vampire lovers ! Ok so this one is a lot less fun compared to the other two because it's made by the Hammer BUT... 1) Ingrid Pitt hello and 2) it's such a intriging thing to see a very christian/conservative studio make a film like that. I know a lot of people don't like the Hammer movies from the 70s, because the studio had a lot less money, and were making wild decisions. But I love them, because they tend to be much more fun bloody and sexy ! I'm a simple woman mjllkklhkhlhlho case in point with the vampire lovers (although if you want a fun vampire hammer movie from the 70s, Dracula ad 1972 is way better). And Peter Cushing is there (i love this man so much-) !
And now I shall resume my quest to find Vampire Lesbos by Jésus Franco and have a probably mid experience watching it xoxo

I was wondering if you had any ideas for how one could approach worshipping the Aedra. Since we don't have as much information on them in the lore as the Daedric Princes + they're canonically nerfed because of cosmology stuff, I seem to be having trouble connecting with them despite wanting to incorporate them into my practice.
Do you have any tips or ideas?
First thing's first, *slides my Aedra tag over to you*. Secondly... Man, I dunno. We may not get as much lore on them as we do with the Daedric Princes, but they're worshiped more than the Daedric Princes in-universe. They play key roles in the creation of Nirn/Mundus depending on the religion, and there's so much freaking lore to these guys.
If in-universe research and worship don't appeal to you, perhaps you could look at similar deities in our world's religions? For instance, Mara is a goddess of agriculture, fertility, and love. While a lot of people would look at that last one and take a cue from Aphrodite's worship, I would personally look at Demeter instead. Julianos, meanwhile, might draw from the worship of Athena and Apollo for a base. (I am using Greek gods as an example because my primary background is in the Greek pantheons.) It all depends on how much effort you wanna put in on the ground floor and how willing you are to change on the go.
I don't know how much you usually feel the presence of deities, but I'm a person who struggles with that sort of thing. So instead, I just kind of...trust that the deities I call out to are there. Gotta have a little faith and belief in my beliefs, ya know?
Anyway, I hope this gives you a place to start, anon!

Remember, TES religion isn't like reality.
There are very very real tangible dangers of pleasing aedra/daedra and there are very real *benefits* as well.
Essentially, this isn't a popularity poll! Please consider your answer honestly and carefully!
Winner of this poll will influence the next poll topic.

The Nords Hate Me Because I Made Their Sex Goddess A Monstergirl
Just kidding they love their monstergirl goddess they’re chill like that
//click for better image quality … Time: 5hrs//
Dibella and Sanguine, twins with a bitter sibling rivalry and with many trick up their sleeves for each other. Both will claim they’re the oldest.
While them being siblings in TDI won’t be canon (bc of conflicting plot lines and lessons), I do so love playing with the idea that they’re related. Their domains are so similar, and I think they’re rivalry came from confusion about what made them distinct. Both have realms surrounding beauty and artistry, but Dibella leans more towards expression and decoration while Sanguine leans toward exposure and a natural state.
I was originally going to lean much heavier into the lily dynamic for Dibella, since I already associated moths with Jyggalag in TDI, but then I saw a bunch of cute moth monstergirl art and couldn’t resist. Sorry Jyggy you have to share symbols

Kynareth, called Kyne by the Nords, is a goddess of the Nine Divines, is the strongest of the Sky spirits and is the deity of the heavens, the winds, the elements, and the unseen spirits of the air. Patron of sailors and travelers, Kynareth is invoked for auspicious stars at birth and for good fortune in daily life.
