Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp - Release Date Announcement - Nintendo Direct 2.8.23
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp will launch for Nintendo Switch on April 21, 2023.
Overview
Command an army in strategic, turn-based combat as a tactical adviser for the Orange Star Army. Your expertise is needed as you move land, air, and naval units across the battlefield. Take down enemy squads and capture towns and bases to secure victory and keep the peace. Keep an eye on the game-changing terrain and weather as you lead a variety of units across multiple maps. This remake features two campaigns that cover the events of Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising!
Fight Alongside Capable Commanding Officers
Defend your land with the help of Andy, Max, Sami, and other Commanding Officers, each with their own specialties and CO Powers. Andy can repair units, while Sami can boost the abilities of troops. Your opponents can use CO abilities of their own too! Throughout both campaigns, the COs you meet play a critical role both on the battlefield and in the story.
Recruit Some Friends and See Who the Superior Strategist Is
When you aren’t busy keeping the peace in one of the two campaign stories, flex your army-commanding chops in Versus Mode**. Up to four players can battle on dozens of maps. Each player chooses a CO from either campaign and can strategically use their CO Powers to turn the tides of battle. Customize your combat with options like funds per allied base and fog of war.

#365DaysOfVGM Day 180:
Dear Falling Angel [Boss Stage] (The King of Fighters ’99: Millennium Battle [1999])
This final boss track is one I feel never got a better rendition ever since, even “Cutting Edge”, which I love in its own right, but ultimately misses what made this one special. It’s essentially a total redo of Omega Rugal’s King of Fighters ‘98 theme, taking that track’s best traits and carrying them over for extra mechanical spin this one’s got. How much you value intimidation factor versus sheer energy in VG music will probably determine which one you like more, with “Dear Fallen Angel” focusing on the latter aspect more closely, but they’re both catchy in their own ways regardless.
Those “whirr” and “steam” sound effects are cool and all, but they take a backseat compared to the even cooler yet underrated, old-school Bass. In fact, one of its solo(s) single-handedly starts one of the better Electric Guitar melodies and compliments it wonderfully whenever it comes into play. The Drums sound like the typical Techno drum but not quite 100%, giving the track an energetic feel during the less intense sections. I believe that all of this together with the other electronic/”mechanical” sounds, creates an engaging melody of triumph over a major yet artificial obstacle, such as Krizalid himself!
And before someone mentions it, I don’t know enough about the “NESTS Saga” to talk about it. It’s a fighting game story anyhow; a genre I’ve still yet to find an impressive story in, because no one’s been able to properly separate canon from the playable roster whenever necessary. I’m just here for the cool music, the last thing I need is age old discourse. You can look forward to more NEO GEO action in the list later down the line!
(Length before loop: 2+ minutes)

for all the people in the notes like OMG DONT RUB IT LIKE THAT:
yes, you can. it's perfectly fine. in fact you can grind many many MANY micro layers off and its fine. there are CD polishing machines that do exactly this to restore hella scratched discs to a playable state. that used to be part of my job many years ago!
Tumblr media
the data is VERY protected, which is part of why CDs (all disc formats, tbh) are such a damn good method of physical storage. you really have to gouge the plastic to truly ruin it - and there's still a good chance a specialist could repair it well enough to recover. tbh all you'd need to do is fill in the scratch with an equally clear material and polish it - so long as it didn't go all the way down to the data layer, that is. but anyway.
it literally does not matter which direction you rub it in because you're putting microscratches on it regardless when you use anything other than a polishing cloth/pad. and any scratch that disrupts the laser's ability to pass through and read the data is going to cause problems, doesn't matter which direction. those of you thinking that you have to do it in a circular motion are thinking of vinyls, where the data is recorded straight onto the surface. in which case, yes, you clean those using a specialized pad in a circular motion. But data discs are not like that, their data hides under a very sturdy and thick layer of plastic. honestly, you risk damaging the data more by scratching the label side. Still a bit tough to do, since label prints are typically rather thick - but i lost way more CDs in the day to that than ever scratching the readable side.
the plastic is polycarbonate, which isn't like diamond strength or anything - but i dare you to go grab an old CD you don't care about and see how long it takes you to scratch deep enough to reach the metal layer with just an ordinary scratchy object. you'll be at it for a little while unless you're like taking a fucking chisel to it.
If you know, you know.
