I'm generally okay with the list except for Dragon's Lair. While it was certainly impressive to have a video game with such high resolution back in '83, we all knew back then that this was a cheat, and really just a laser disc that let you skip to a new cut scene if your timing was right.

It was 50 cents to play in a world where everything else was 25, crazy hard and your input gameplay-wise was just about timing your button mash. Was not a very compelling experience and didn't really last long in the arcades because no one wanted to play it a second time, once the novelty of the cartoon video wore off.

There may be a million ways to die, but you’re probably only going to see the first two or three. This week on the Vintage RPG Podcast, we’re remembering the classic coin-eating arcade game, Dragon’s Lair. That’s the one that features the cell-shaded, professionally animated (by Don frickin’ Bluth!) adventure of Dirk the Daring that was hidden behind an endless series of near-impossible reflex tests. An exercise in beautiful frustration that nevertheless contributed much to the visual language of fantasy in the ‘80s and beyond!

While Betty Cooper found her animated feature career on the downslide (she ended up finding a new role in the Dragon's Lair video game), her pals ended up in meaty roles in other films; Cheryl Blossom as Jessica Rabbit, Melody in Cool World, Sabrina in the movie Wizards. Some were box office hits while others found a cult audience of loyal fans.
