GALTx eNews: Let's Get Sandy Home!

Sandy, aka Go Forward Sandy, was born in October 2020 to Dyna Double One and Miss Sweetness. Sandy ran 56 races at various tracks in Australia before retiring to the USA in May 2024. She is now seeking a forever home without cats or small dogs.

Sandy is a friendly, affectionate dog who loves to be petted and spend time with her people. She has been well behaved with the children she has met and gets along well with the greyhound she currently lives with. Her house manners are good. She has not had any accidents in the house or shown any destructive behavior. She still needs a little assistance to get into the car and rides well once she is in. At night she sleeps on a dog bed in her foster mom's bedroom and waits patiently for her foster mom to get up in the morning. Sandy crates easily for a small treat and also behaves well when left uncrated.

Sandy enjoys toys, especially the squeaky ones, and likes to get them all out of the toy basket. She also sometimes enjoys a game of fetch in the backyard. When Sandy goes out for a walk, another side of her personality comes out. She is a hunter, intensely alert and constantly scanning for any sign of prey. Therefore, she requires an alert walker with a strong hand on the leash.

Sandy will do best with people who can give her plenty of love and attention and can work with her strong prey drive. A yard would be best for her because she sometimes is so focused on hunting during her walks that she might forget to take care of business until she gets back to her backyard.

GALTx eNews: Welcome, 8 Retiring Aussies!

Last weekend, we welcomed our latest batch of eight retired racing greyhounds from Australia: Cash, Jack, Pablo, Luna, Cheeky, Magnus, Logan, and Mal. Luna and Cheeky are both girls, and the rest are all boys. They range in ages from two to five years old. Jack is the oldest of the group, having turned five last December. Mal is the youngest, just turning two last November. Luna will celebrate her third birthday this Tuesday, March 18! Happy birthday, Luna!

Mal is the only one in the bunch who might be ok with cats. We will see how he does in a "kitty boot camp" foster home. Luna and Jack both have the potential to live with small dogs. Four of this group are black, three are fawn, and one, Magnus, is brindle. Pablo, Logan, and Mal did not race. Everyone else has track experience.

This group of hounds is filled with love! If you're interested in adopting, please get your applications in. We would love to see these hounds find their forever homes quickly so that we have foster homes available for another batch before the weather gets too hot!

I keep hoping the housing market will drastically turn around in the next year and the next place I move will be a permanent house. I want a fenced yard and I want a greyhound
