Absolute Batman

Finally, I have put pencil to paper for an actual drawing instead of my usual random doodles.

I have been diving into Absolute Batman lately, and it has been such an inspiration. I thought, why not channel that excitement into something?

I just read the first issue of the absolute Batman comic and I know DC fan boys will hate this but it reminded me of the Gotham TV show. Like I’m sorry to tell you this but I think this comic was inspired by that show and you can’t convince me otherwise

What are they going to do with the robins in the absolute universe? What if they were all kids at the neighbor YMCA that Bruce volunteers at?

Dick used to go all the time, but now he’s grown and moved to Bloodhaven. Bruce helped him get scholarships for college, plus he fostered Dick for the last few years of high school after his folks died.

Bruce actually knew Jason’s parents back in highschool, he’s just a kid. He couldn’t hold it against him when he caught the kid stealing his tires, but he did make him put them back on. Bruce is well aware of the people his parents are and he wasn’t going to let Jason die in the streets. Now he works at Bruce’s gym and trade school just like Bruce.

Tim Drake quickly realized that the kinda scary boxing coach at the YMCA was the Batman after someone live-streamed a Batman fight. Bruce didn’t know what to do when this kid trapped him in his office demanding to be his sidekick or less he’d leave him in there.

what i love about the dc absolute universe is that it’s not an edgy version of these characters, they’re not attempting a “what if your favourite hero was a bad guy”. no, instead it tells us that the circumstances in which these heroes become are so different and sometimes so adverse and YET they choose to be heroes, they choose kindness, compassion, justice and truth. That it doesn’t matter how you’re brought in to the world, it matters what you do when you have the opportunity and circumstance to do better. at its core that’s exactly what wonder woman, superman and batman represent.
