what i love about the dc absolute universe is that it’s not an edgy version of these characters, they’re not attempting a “what if your favourite hero was a bad guy”. no, instead it tells us that the circumstances in which these heroes become are so different and sometimes so adverse and YET they choose to be heroes, they choose kindness, compassion, justice and truth. That it doesn’t matter how you’re brought in to the world, it matters what you do when you have the opportunity and circumstance to do better. at its core that’s exactly what wonder woman, superman and batman represent.

i think the reason these 'soft reveals' work so great because because in a darker universe, a universe made in darkseid's image, you expect things to be things to be the worst, the most miserable they could possibly be.

and yet, its in this universe that bruce and kal get to experience life with their parents.

even diana, taken from her mother and sisters as a baby and cast into literal hell, finds the love of a mother there.

despite everything, they experienced that love. despite everything, there's hope.

Omegaverse AU. The annual Gotham Matchmaking Event was in full swing. Bruce Wayne, towering over the alphas and omegas around him, moved through the room with an unapproachable aura. The whispers followed him, just like they always did.

"Wayne’s so assertive. Doesn’t act like an omega at all," someone muttered.

"He should stop pretending to be above his station," another added with a laugh.

Bruce pretended not to hear them, his jaw tightening as he positioned himself near the door for an easy exit. If not for the fact that these matchmaking events were mandatory for all unmated omegas of age, he would have refused the invitation outright.

A new arrival caught his attention. The man’s tanned skin and wavy hair stood out, he didn’t seem to be from Gotham. His name tag read "Kal."

Bruce watched the foreigner as he mingled with the other guests. Kal’s alpha status was obvious, but unlike most alphas, he radiated warmth and charm. People naturally gravitated toward him, drawn to his approachable demeanor. The double standards grated on Bruce more than he cared to admit.

Until Kal’s gaze found his.

The alpha froze, wide-eyed as he stared at Bruce. Bruce glared at the shorter man. It usually kept alphas at bay.

No such luck. Kal approached him anyway.

"Have you heard of Kryptonian queens?" Kal asked.

Bruce blinked, caught off guard by the question. "What?"

"In Kryptonian legends, queens were the biggest, strongest omegas in the colony. They either earned the title by winning dominance battles or left to establish new colonies on distant outposts," Kal said, his voice filled with awe. "You’re like a legend brought to life."

Bruce’s guarded expression faltered. Despite the absurdity of the alpha’s words, there was something in his tone—genuine respect—that made him pause.

And Bruce found himself listening.

Absolute Batman and Main Batman meet and they do not have a good time… at first.

Absolute!Bat is going OFF on Main!Bat about how rich and pompous he is and how he never had to struggle for anything in life and Main!Bat is like “at least you got a mom.” And the shuts Absolute!Bat up for a minute.

Absolute!Bat is actually kinda disgusted by Main!Bat. Thinking he beats up the mentally ill and homeless people and is just a cop but somehow worse. But Main!Bat is like “No, I actually recognize the systemic issues. Wayne enterprises, my company, actually pays for all the hospital bills of all the goons and offers them a job with full benefits. Ideally, Gotham wouldn’t need Batman, but when you have a supervillains like Posion Ivy and the Joker… well I do what I can.”

Also Martha immediately takes to the Batkids and insists they call her grandma.

Which makes me think if Absolute Batman would get a Robin someday…
