The Same Sky and Moon and Stars
Happy Inukag Week!
I didn't realize it was InuKag week until now 😅
Not sure if this fits exactly with the prompts as it's more focused on Kagome's friends and family dealing with her returning to the past to be with Inuyasha, but I think it goes well with Day 1: Love Languages.
If it doesn't fit the prompts too well, please forgive me and ignore this 🙈 (Too nervous about tagging haha, what if it doesn't match the prompts well?)
I always wondered what Kagome's friends and family thought of her vanishing into the well, and how they dealt with her absence after years and years. This is my interpretation of how that might have been. I haven't seen more than a few clips of the sequel series yet and I am not too familiar with the storyline, but I saw a clip of Moroha hugging grandpa and maxing out Sota's credit card and I thought that was so cute. Please tell me what you think! :)
Summary:
"His family had gotten on well enough, knowing that his sweet, beautiful granddaughter was safe and happy in her new home, but even so, he could detect longing and anguish for her phantom presence. He knew better, though. She hadn't gone anywhere. She was right there with him, under the same blue sky."
Kagome, and the world she left behind. Post-series.
FFN / AO3
Be sure to come to Wac's at noon! Eri had told Kagome, beaming brilliantly. Then we can go to the arcade, and then we can watch a movie.
Finally.
After months and months of cram school and late nights studying, entrance exam torture and nervous breakdowns.
Finally.
They'd graduated.
Yuka would move all the way down south to Kyushu for college in a few months, and Ayumi would go straight north, north, north, right into the depths of the snowiest mountains. Eri would remain in Tokyo.
Kagome still hadn't said what she was planning to do after high school, but as her grades had somehow drastically improved three years ago soon after starting high school, Eri was certain that Kagome, too, had gotten into a prestigious institution.
She hadn't said where that was, but Eri was sure that she would spill the beans after a couple of burgers and milkshakes.
Truthfully, she was hoping that at least Kagome would stay in Tokyo with her. It would be lonely with Ayumi all the way in Aomori, and Yuka in Fukuoka. Notwithstanding her strange illnesses and absences back in the ninth grade, Kagome had been dependably the next desk over in class, sharing notes and lunches and smiles for years and years and years. Eri didn't want her to go too soon.
Noon became 12:15, and 12:15 became 12:25.
Eri ordered a heaping of fries, and Ayumi an extra-large milkshake.
Yuka had taken the liberty of ordering for Kagome the extra extra extra large burger that she liked, and tapped her foot impatiently. By 12:45, she had crinkled her brow in a blend of irritation and concern.
"You don't think she suddenly got sick again, do you?" Ayumi asked. "Hang on, I'll call her house."
She pulled out her brand-new Nokia flip that Ayumi's parents had gotten her as a graduation gift. (They would all color-coordinate their phones soon. Ayumi had insisted.)
"Yes, ojii-san, this is Ayumi. I'm calling to ask about...oh, really? He's back so suddenly? She's gone to meet him?...Well, tell her to come to Wac's soon, please, her burger is getting soggy."
She hung up, her face clearing, her brow smoothing, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"It's her delinquent boyfriend again! He's back from that three-year trip and he's gone to meet Kagome!"
Their table erupted in squeals and applause.
"So Kagome isn't in a long-distance relationship anymore!"
"Ooooh, this is way more interesting than college plans!"
"Think he's still not as good a match as Hojo-kun?"
"You think she's gonna bring him here? We need to check him out!"
"She better!"
One o'clock came and went.
Kagome still didn't come.
They shrugged their shoulders, not all that concerned. She and her boyfriend were all lovey-dovey. She was constantly getting piggyback rides from him and all. They had probably lost track of time after three years in a long-distance relationship.
Eri wrapped up the burger and dropped it off at the Higurashi house with a friendly, teasing note that Kagome would never read.
***
Five years had passed since high school graduation, and honestly, Ayumi was still a bit miffed at Kagome.
You would think that Kagome's best friends would be invited to her wedding. You would think that they wouldn't suddenly elope out of nowhere right after the last day of high school. Really, what were they thinking?
She'd been meaning to call for years now, hoping to give Kagome a piece of her mind. Kagome's mother had given her a phone number, but whenever Ayumi rang, there would only ever be a beep and a polite, robotic voice, telling her that the number was invalid and to please dial again.
***
"Mama, who's that?" her daughter asked one evening, pointing to a gaggle of smiling schoolgirls in Yuka's old, yellowing photo album.
"Hmm? Those are Eri-san and Ayumi-san. They settled down in Tokyo last year. You met them at that party, dear."
"No, mama, I mean this person."
Yuka rubbed her aging eyes and blinked.
Ah.
It had been decades, but something in her heart lurched even so.
"Well, that's Kagome-san. She was a good friend of mine in high school. Don't know what she's up to now. I haven't been in touch with her for years."
Every once in a while, she would call the Higurashi shrine and ask about Kagome, if she was busy, and if Eri and Ayumi were in town, if she might want to stop by at Wac's and take a selfie and a burger for nostalgia's sake.
Kagome never was home. Her mother would always sigh softly and say that Kagome was "abroad." Whichever country she was in now, the Higurashi family definitely didn't seem keen on telling her.
It was life, she supposed. You moved on.
Still, a part of her would close her eyes and drift back to sleepy, golden afternoons and biking back home, happy smiles, and rapid-fire discussions of Kagome's strange, delinquent boyfriend.
***
There used to be a girl he liked, back in high school. Higurashi, wasn't it?
She was quite beautiful, and though he had been happily married for thirty years now, her bright, smiling face crossed Hojo's mind sometimes.
She had fallen quite sick in the ninth grade. All sorts of strange illnesses. Economy class syndrome and swine flu and chicken pox and even a bite from a potentially rabid dog.
Yet through those bizarre and alarming-sounding ailments, Higurashi's face always seemed to glow. She certainly didn't have the look of a sick person. Hojo hoped that meant all the get-well cards and medicines he gave her had worked.
He'd gone to an all-boys school after that and didn't get to see her as much, but every few weeks, he would run into her on the street and she would always greet him with a nod and a smile. They'd even gone to the movies once or twice, but soon enough, Hojo could tell she never saw him as anything other than a classmate. He was dejected for a while, but soon enough recovered his good cheer, and was happy that she still enjoyed his friendship.
She'd vanished after that.
Just one day, out of the blue, he stopped seeing her around on the street. He supposed she had moved away for college and a job.
Was she doing all right now? Hojo hoped that, approaching late middle age as their generation was, that Higurashi was taking care of her fragile health.
He touched the missing button of his shirt and smiled.
It was true, he had been happily married for years and whatever romantic feelings he had for her had long since faded into the breeze. But he hoped that Higurashi would always have a bright, smiling face, wherever she was, enjoying good health long into old age.
She did say that they could be friends forever, and surely it wasn't wrong to wish his friend well.
***
Her scent faded from the house slowly and steadily.
First downstairs, then upstairs, from the kitchen and living room and eventually from the shrine grounds. Her room stopped smelling like her long, long ago.
She used to give him good ear scratches and let him lie on her chest. She filled his food bowl much more copiously than did her brother, and she was always ready with treats from the supermarket for him.
The memory of her face was fading at the edges. Buyo was getting on in years.
He'd never forget her scent, though. Fading though it was, it lingered at the well and at the foot of the huge, old tree.
Lately he would venture down there, down that well, hoping to catch a whiff of her distinctive scent. He'd always get stuck, and her brother would pull him out.
***
It didn't hurt when she wasn't at his high school graduation. It didn't even hurt when she wasn't at his wedding. Once she went into that well, she couldn't come back out.
He knew that. And he knew that nee-chan was happy over there with her new family and friends. He couldn't begrudge her happiness. It wasn't like she was walking home after school one day and vanished without a trace, in potential danger. He knew exactly where she was, on the other side of the well.
Sota knew that she loved him all the same, whether she was here in the present or in the Sengoku Jidai with his new brother-in-law.
But –
He turned to his left and caught a wrinkle on his mother's forehead, and he turned to the right and caught the slow shuffle of his grandfather's feet –
And suddenly his eyes blurred with crystal tears.
New family.
New friends.
They were all getting older and older, and she was already gone, new and ancient all at once, somewhere in the distant past, before any of them were even born.
***
The day she became a mother was the happiest day in her life.
The day she learned she was a grandmother was yet happier.
Her tears wet the earth and soaked into the roots of the Goshinboku, all the way to her daughter.
Thank you, Kagome.
***
Some of Kagome's friends were sad. Others were mad. His family had gotten on well enough, knowing that his sweet, beautiful granddaughter was safe and happy in her new home, but even so, he could detect longing and anguish for her phantom presence at the kitchen table, at the hospital, at the shrine entrance greeting visitors.
He knew better, though.
He rested his aching back against the tree and breathed deeply, sensing her peculiar power.
He wasn't worried. He didn't miss her. Why would he? She hadn't gone anywhere.
She was right there with him, under the same blue sky.
***
Kagome stilled, her palm against the tree.
A light night wind made the branches sway and rustle under the starry sky.
She could feel it.
Feel them.
Old family and new, all at once.
The tree always did have a special power.
She wrapped an arm around her sleeping husband and daughter and smiled.

What are your theory as to why Sunrise keeps clinging to the Inuyasha rights? They have been absorbed by Bandai, and yet they are clinging to them. Cash cow Gintama merch they still had their stickers on until recently, their own huge franchise Gundam given over to Bandai quite a while ago, but the Inuyasha anime? Still copyright 2009 Sunrise. They insisted on giving Sesshoumaru red and white also as a theme color, but now have given him a greyish purple because of the manga. But still they cling to it. Inuyasha is quite big internationally, is that why? But Gintama was the mos exported series for quite a while..! But many fans pretend it doesn't exist anymore after their stupid "what if" story (checked last merch for that, and that was in July 2022 while Inuyasha has long into next year, Moroha unsurprisingly has more of his self-insert than herself in her merch, that stupid tanuki thing). And I got to admit that I still feel a little queasy when I rewatch the first anime, especially later episodes with Rin after knowing what fantasies some of the people involved had 🤢.
When they finally lose the rights, will they be brought up quickly? As many fans want a more faithful adaptation, or will Bandai snatch them up again to take them and give to another company within them to animate? Do you think Takahashi will try getting involved with who they go to when that time comes? I really hope they'll tone down Miroku. The "eew, grooming" scene is really important so I wish it could be part somehow without one of the heroes being a creep, (it was before sumisawa got involved)
Imagine the cool transformation scenes where Inuyasha's ears and colors change during sunrise properly animated! I want to see it!
A new anime that will set it free from the grossness of the past..! Maybe even have Sesshoumaru's mother calling Sesshoumaru a hogosha and ask him why he chose a human rather than a yōkai or at the very least finding a wife first before adopting so he doesn't have to take care of her alone..! Or her in-character calling Rin another pet along with Jaken, which Jaken corrects with Sesshoumaru being Rin's hogosha but not correcting himself being called a pet because that seems in-character for him somehow. And hopefully a new translation of the manga as viz's Americanization where they'd rather introduce Hawaiian words rather than treating a Japanese series as Japanese..!
Sorry for babbling...
They are probably holding on to them because it’s more profitable to keep them than to sell them to someone else and I have zero idea tbh :( sunrise is so ass backwards they handled the yashahime controversy in the WORST possible way they consistently picked the worst option every single time and I hope we can get a new adaption but I don’t know if it’ll happen any time soon :( I’m sure inuyasha was more popular internationally and that’s a big ^^ but ranma 1/2 was huge too and it hasn’t gotten a new adaption urusei yatsura JUST got one I feel if we get one it won’t be for another 10/15 years but if we get one I hope it gets the fruit basket treatment inuyasha has its faults but it’s a really good series and introduced anime to an entire generation of adults but I feel inuyasha is left out of the “iconic 00s” anime conversation which is also :/ I’m going to be optimistic but I don’t know how realistic it’ll be but we didn’t think we’ll get a sequel (pedobait family show spin off spoof) so 👀
I would LOVE a prequel and would have preferred that over whatever yashahime was but only if sunrise does NOT touch it I want a studio who really cares about the source material and doesn’t treat these adaptions like fanfic and throws cheap plots in with even worse characterization for money most anime doesn’t run nonstop anymore so if we get one hopefully it gets the love it deserves
#I feel sunrise ruined the inuyasha brand :/#and what little inuyasha had left was destroyed with yashahime#tragic :((((#long post#and you’re good anon ❤️#you can argue that hunter x hunter got a reboot#like 10 years later but they had a lot more source material#and it made sense to just redo it#the OG and the final act had like? 6 years difference? (2004-2009/2010)#but if we get a reboot PLEASE ADAPT THE MATERIAL PROPERLY#it took 167 episodes for 350 chapters but 26 episodes for 200 chapters????#and the plot order is FUCKED#why did they do that#like everything is out of order#EVERYTHING

Gamerant published how Yashahime lost fans because sunrise mistreated Mohora who got popular recption by fans
"I can excuse grooming propaganda, but I draw the line at mistreating Moroha."
#How they treat Moroha is the LEAST of our problems with this shitty show#Of course it's revolting#And of course plot and characterization are terrible#The plot holes the abismal pacing the C- animation are all minor details#The main reason people dropped this sequel was the grooming and pedophilic implications#Because Moroha stans are STILL watching the show DESPITE her mistreatment#I know this because even though most of them watch it ilegally they still complain about it online instead of actually dropping the show#Deep down they’re holding up hope things will get better and Sunrise will give them some Moroha and Inukag crumbs#Which is it’s their right I guess but it doesn’t change the fact that they’re still there#The absolute majority of the people who has dropped the anime did so because the kid was revealed to be the mother#There was a HUGE exodus after episode 15 aired like this was a whole ass thing that happened#Sidmailing

Baby talk???
Hi @lavendertwilight89!! 😁❤️ So sorry for taking forever to get back to you, things got crazy and I wanted to wait until I had enough time/brain power to provide another snippet 🥰. This is still super rough, but it’s at least readable compared to the random jumbled mess I had in the google doc before 😂 .
Previous background info + snippet for Baby Talk can be found here!
“Hey, kid, it’s okay. Don’t cry!” Inuyasha pleaded, his voice just above a whisper. “Just let your mom sleep a little longer, please? Just a little more. It’s been a rough day for her, y’know.”
As he spoke, Moroha seemed to calm some. The wild flailing of her arms and legs had slowed, and her head turned a bit as if to nuzzle closer to the vibrations of his chest.
“Oh…so you like the sound of my voice, huh?”
Warmth flooded his body, leaving him awestruck for what felt like the millionth time in the last several weeks. He smiled down at the tiny bundle in his arms, but even in the few seconds since he’d stopped talking, Moroha’s face began to scrunch up in frustration again.
“No, wait!” Inuyasha whispered frantically. “I’ll keep talkin’, just — what do I…”
What the hell was he supposed to say to a baby?
He felt a little stupid talking out loud, essentially, to himself. Still, he knew he’d better think of something before Moroha burst into tears again and woke up Kagome, so he blurted out the first thought that came to his mind.
“It’s, uh, been a crazy couple of weeks.” He scratched the side of his head with a claw. “I can’t believe I’m really a father now...even after all those months we knew you were comin’. It still doesn’t feel real.”
Studying her tiny features, he lowered his hand to carefully brush the pad of his thumb across her chubby cheek.
“I hope I’m alright at it.” His voice went even softer, somehow, as he looked into her brown eyes that were exactly the same shade as her mother’s. “I never knew my old man, so I have no idea what I’m doin’. Just gotta figure it out as I go along, I guess.” He shrugged.
“Kagome said that’s pretty much what everyone does, but….” He trailed off, letting out a small sigh as her little hand found one of his fingers and wrapped around it. The corners of his mouth lifted a bit.
“All I know is that...I want you to have a better life than I did growin’ up, and I’m gonna do everything I can to make sure of it. As long as your mom and I are around, you’ll always be safe, and cared for. Never alone.”
He knew he couldn’t technically promise such a thing, what with how dangerous the world was. But he’d pay any price imaginable to ensure that his daughter never had to experience the all-consuming terror of having to survive on her own. If it came down to it, he would claw his way out of hell to ensure no harm ever came to her.
Holding her a little tighter as his protective instincts kicked in, he paused to place a comforting kiss on her forehead before straightening up with a slight burning in his cheeks.
Aw, fuck. He had turned into such a sap over the last several weeks, hadn’t he?
From the moment he first met Moroha, he had become an embarrassing puddle of mush that he never would have imagined himself capable of. He would be forever grateful that Kagome was the only one there to witness the tears that flooded his eyes the first time he held his daughter, because he was sure that Shippo and the monk never would have let him live that down.
At least here, in the dark, with just the two of them, and his wife slumbering peacefully in the background, he supposed he didn’t mind so much.
Thank you so much for the ask @lavendertwilight89!! 💕
#wip#wip game#SO MUCH SAP#YOU'RE GONNA NEED A TOOTHBRUSH#also oops this got long xD#I was trying to make up for taking so long to answer#and yes we ignore the plot of yashahime in this house now#inukagmor#moroha#papayasha

This official art looks very roastable…Let’s begin.
First of all why the confetti? I understand for Inuyasha and Kagome’s case because they got a happy ending but Sesshomaru and Rin’s group have a whole lot of issues to figure out. Second, just the audacity of putting the gross Sesshomaru and the gang “family” next to the Inukagmor. Instead of Mirsan’s family there.
Even Kiara looks confused.
WHY IS THIS MAN UPSET? IS IT BECAUSE HE’S BACK WITH HIS “FAMILY” AND ALL ARE ALIVE? WAS IT NOT ACCORDING TO PLAN? 💀 If I were Setsuna I would side eye him so hard.
Like Inuyasha did in the first op for Yashahime.
For a suppose rich family they could at least get Rin some damn napkins to put so she can protect her stanky feet. At least Moroha is a child. ( Who is also poor ) I don’t know Rin’s excuse to wear any. Is she just going to be following around her “Lord Sesshomaru” in grass and dirt all day without something to put on her feet 😩 Ouch
Also why is she so happy? Is it cause she knows her daughters will be attacked and mistreated for being Sesshomaru’s half demon daughters? It’s not like she laughed it off before.
Rin doesn’t even face her daughters but here’s Kagome with her hand on Towa’s shoulder and smiling at her. Omg I’m so embarrassed for Sesshomaru and Rin’s parenting skills. But anyways notice how proud Inuyasha is of his daughter unlike a certain someone on the other side…And Kagome also with her other hand on Moroha.
I hope you fall so hard and break your entire system you “SHE SAID WAS 18” creep.
Anyways might as well just give you guys a better version. Here are two epic families together goodnight.

A Midnight Gift
So I’m a horrible person and this is SUPER late, but I hope you can forgive me for that @clearwillow
Surprise! I’m your Secret Santa! I wanted this to be so much better for you than it turned out, but I hope you still enjoy it, love!
@inusecretsanta
“Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful, and since we've no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!” Kagome sang the old tune joyously as she moved about the apartment, decorating every square inch with garland, lights, tinsel and what ever else she could fit into the small space. Unbeknownst to her, her husband leaned against the doorway between the hall and the living room, his arms crossed over his chest and a small smirk playing at the corners of his lips. InuYasha truly enjoyed watching his wife get into the holidays like she always did, though admittedly this year she was going a little more overboard than normal since this would be their daughter's first Christmas.
Moroha was 10 months old but despite the young age, Kagome had purchased no less than 75 presents for their little girl. She had proclaimed with each one that this would be the last, though InuYasha knew better. He didn't mind, though. He wanted Kagome to be happy and if showering their baby with endless gifts on Christmas morning would do that, then by God he wouldn't let anything stand in her way, least of all himself. He continued to watch her move about the room, completely oblivious to his presence, all the way up until she was struggling to reach the spot above the faux mantle that she always placed the sprig of mistletoe.
Her toes were stretched as far as they would go and she still couldn't quite make it. Pushing himself away from the wall, InuYasha came up directly behind his wife, reached up to pluck the plant from her hand and placed it in it's designated place. Without turning around, Kagome asked, “And just how long were you standing there watching me?”
Wrapping his arms around his mate, InuYasha replied, “Oh, just long enough to know that you can't live without me.” Kagome giggled and turned to face her husband. Her caramel colored eyes met his amber and just like the force of two magnets coming together, their lips met in a sweet and tender kiss full of all the love the couple shared. The spell was soon broken by the sound of Moroha waking from her nap with her typical loud wail, demanding that she be paid attention.
Pulling away just slightly, InuYasha whispered against his wife's lips “I'll get her, you finish up in here,” before planting a soft kiss on her forehead and turning to tend to the newly awakened child.
Kagome watched her husband go, admiring the view of his backside in the form fitting jeans that hugged him in all the right places. Shaking herself free from the hold that her hanyou always seemed to have over her, Kagome returned to her decorating, humming various holiday tunes as she worked.
After about an hour more of continuous work, Kagome was finally able to stand back and admire her handiwork. The tree was in the corner by the window surrounded by beautifully wrapped gifts of all shapes and sizes, garland hung from the walls, lights twinkled, and she couldn't help but smile to herself that she had created this beautiful setup as a backdrop for tonight's little gathering. Their best friend's, Sango and Miroku, were coming with their three young children to spend Christmas Eve with them and Kagome couldn't be more excited for this tradition to start with their baby girl. Speaking of which, Kagome realized it was entirely too quiet in their apartment, especially since InuYasha had been with Moroha for over an hour and she hadn't heard a peep from them in almost that entire time.
Making her way down the hallway to their daughter's bedroom, Kagome stopped at the barely cracked door and peeked inside. The sight that met her eyes made her put her hand over her mouth to prevent herself from bursting out laughing. In the middle of the room Moroha was sitting watching her father, absolutely captivated by what he was doing. InuYasha had tied one of Moroha's blankets around his forehead, his shirt lay forgotten on the floor and he was using the baby's toy broom as a sword, pretending to fight off hoards of demons. He held the broom in both hands, facing the closet with a very intense look on his face. “Come face me, demons!” he said with false anger. “No one is going to hurt my precious little girl!” Swinging the 'sword' wildly, he moved into the closet and attacked the hoards of demons pretending to be baby clothes. Moroha squealed in delight and clapped her hands together.
No longer able to hold her laughter, Kagome snickered loudly, causing her husband to step out of the closet. He turned and looked at her, his eyes holding a gleam of mischief as he pulled one of Moroha's onesies off of his head. Kagome just laughed even harder, leaning against the wall to support herself as the hilarity of what she had witnessed tore through her. Moroha turned to face her mother, giggling when she saw how red her face had gotten. Slowly, Kagome brought her laughter down to just a light snicker every few seconds and InuYasha used this opportunity to confront his wife.
Using his demon speed, he was in front of her in the blink of an eye, a move that never seemed to fail to steal Kagome's breath away. His eyes narrowed down at her in mock anger as his fists found their way onto his hips. Biting her bottom lip to stop herself from beginning another laughing fit, Kagome looked up at InuYasha's face and feigned innocence. Instead of keeping up the game, InuYasha fell into his own laughing fit after seeing that look.
Kagome never budged as she waited for the hanyou to compose himself, which he did almost as slowly as she had. “Are all the closet demons slain?” She asked him in faux seriousness. Smirking down at her he replied, “Yessum, all closet demons have been properly disposed of and Princess Yashahime is free to move about.”
Moving to lift her child into her arms, Kagome turned and said, “Good, because this Princess is supposed to help mommy make Christmas cookies in the kitchen.” She lightly poked her little girl's nose and Moroha giggled. She stopped to give her husband a quick peck on the cheek as she passed by him on the way to the kitchen.
An hour later, Kagome was lifting Moroha up out of her high chair and informing InuYasha that he would be bathing her and getting her dressed for the party set to begin in just over an hour. Staring down at his flour, sugar, and lord knew what else covered baby, InuYasha simply smiled, tucked his daughter against his side, gave his wife a peck on the cheek and turned to do as she had asked. He had seen the state of the kitchen after her experiment with making Christmas cookies with a 10 month old. He knew when to just shut his mouth when it came to his fiery tempered wife.
Surprisingly, InuYasha managed to get his daughter and himself bathed, dried, dressed and presentable just in time for Kagome to burst through the bedroom door, one hand holding the towel around her body and the other attempting to keep the towel on her head in place. He silently took Moroha to the living room and placed her in her playpen. Kagome had never been good at time management, but he knew she would somehow still manage to make herself ready by the time their friends arrived in roughly 15 minutes.
Sure enough, 15 minutes later she stepped out and InuYasha couldn't help but stare at the woman before him. She stood in the doorway to the living room putting her pearl earrings on. The tea-length emerald green dress flared out from her waist forming a delicate A-line figure, the straps hung off her shoulders, framing her neck for the simple rose pink jewel on a silver chain she always wore. Her long, ebony locks hung beautifully in loose waves around her shoulders. He knew she was wearing makeup, but it wouldn't be anything more than mascara, blush and lipstick. Kagome liked to keep things simple but she still knew how to make his heart stop in his chest.
Smiling at him, she took in his own appearance, having not noticed on her rampage to finish getting ready. He wore dark jeans, something she knew she could never have talked him out of, but they were his nicest pair. The long pure white hair she had always found to be among the most beautiful things in the world was tied high on his head in a fashion he only wore on special occasions. His shirt was a long sleeved button up in a color of burgundy she had always liked on him, though he had already rolled the sleeves up to his elbows and unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt, revealing enough of his chest to ruin the effect of his 'nice clothes' appearance. But Kagome didn't care. She honestly kind of wouldn't have minded if he just slipped that shirt right off so she could run her hands all over his chest while he held her in his arms and pressed his lips firmly down on hers.
The sound of Sango knocking and calling through the door to them broke Kagome from her daydream. She shook her head once and giving InuYasha a knowing look, made her way to the door to let her best friends inside. Sango greeted her by wrapping her arms around her and holding her tightly for a moment. Kagome had always adored that her best friend always seemed to want to show affection, so she accepted the hug as Miroku made his way in behind his wife with his 18 month old son slung over his shoulder and his twin 3 year old daughters each holding one of his hands.
InuYasha shook his head at Miroku as he snatched Hisui from his shoulder and greeted the boy with a high five before placing him in the playpen with Moroha. Before he could turn around, he felt his legs become trapped by a pair of arms wrapped around each one. He looked down and saw Kin'u and Gyokuto staring up at him.
“Uncle Yasha, daddy says you and Auntie 'Gome got us presents and we can open them up!” Kin'u asked excitedly. Bending down and grabbing a girl in each of his arms, he replied, “Oh he did, did he?” The girls nodded in unison. Chuckling, InuYasha whispered to the girls, “Well, your daddy is right, but you have to wait just a little longer to open them up. Can you girls be good and wait so your Auntie 'Gome and mommy can talk a little?” The girls faces fell slightly. “Tell you what,” he whispered to them, “if you two can wait a little while and let your mommy and auntie have some time together, I'll give you each a Christmas cookie before dinner. Deal?” The girls both smiled and nodded emphatically.
He carried the girls into the kitchen and set them both on the counter next to the sink. Reaching up onto the breakfast bar where Kagome had placed the plate of cookies, he snatched up three of the biggest cookies on the plate and gave one to each girl while taking a sizable bite of his own. The girls giggled at him as they enjoyed their treat. Their attention was drawn by their father walking into the kitchen and grabbing a cookie of his own.
Miroku leaned against the counter across from InuYasha and looked at his friend before speaking, “I see my two troublemakers have already conned you into an extra cookie,” he said, smirking at his daughters knowingly.
Waving his hand dismissively, InuYasha just said, “Bah, it's Christmas Eve. They can be spoiled a little, can'tcha girls?” he asked the pair as he winked at them. They only giggled in response. Miroku snatched them off of the counter and set them both on the floor.
“How about you two go play with your toys we brought in the living room until dinner?” he told them. “Ok daddy,” they said in unison and trotted off to do as they were asked. Miroku shook his head at the sight and stood to face his best friend. He clapped the half-demon on the shoulder and spoke quietly, “Those two are simultaneously the cutest little angels and pure demon spawn, I swear it.” Letting out a deep laugh, InuYasha joked, “Well, they are yours, so that explains the demon spawn!” Miroku glared at his friend, but only for a moment before he gave a light chuckle. “I suppose I could've been a bit of a hellion in my younger days,” he admitted.
“I think your mother would definitely agree with that assessment, considering she had to deal with your endless string of horrible phases in high school and your obsession with every girl you crossed paths with until Sango knocked some sense into that head of yours.”
“Some sense is right,” was the surprise response from the doorway. The men turned their heads towards Sango as she continued, “Some days I look at him and wonder what the hell I was thinking, but then I remember that I love the idiot so I just shrug and keep beating a little more sense into that thick skull every now and then.” She smiled up at Miroku as she stepped in and planted a kiss on his lips. “You two go do something useful and set the table while Kagome and I finish up in here.” She said as she shooed them out of the kitchen with the tableware in their hands.
Before long, both families were seated around the dining room table, joyously sharing their holiday meal with eachother, sharing stories from their past, and reveling in the miracle that was their children. Kagome felt like she was the most blessed woman on the planet to have such beautiful people to share her life with. Her eyes brimmed with tears as she watched her family laugh and smile. She truly could not have asked for a better way to spend the holidays.
As the evening progressed, the children each got to open one gift, as was tradition in their families. The twins each got a new doll, Hisui got a toy truck, while baby Moroha received a white stuffed cat with twin tails and red eyes. She immediately latched onto the toy and refused to let it go, all the way up until she fell asleep next to Hisui in her playpen, holding it in her tiny arms.
The adults spent a few hours talking and enjoying the quiet after the twins also fell asleep in the reclining chair in the corner of the room. But before long, it was after 11 and they began to say their goodbyes to eachother. Sango hugged Kagome and InuYasha and wished them both a wonderful Christmas before she lifted her son into her arms and carried him out to the car. Miroku hugged Kagome and InuYasha as well before he grabbed a daughter in each arm and started out to the car with them. InuYasha opened the door for his friend and watched as he walked down the hallway. He closed the door behind him and silently began helping Kagome clean up. The pair worked in companionable silence for several minutes until the apartment was back in order. By the time they were finished, it was nearing midnight.
Kagome stood in front of Moroha's playpen holding a small glass of wine, just watching her daughter sleep. InuYasha came up from behind and wrapped his arms around her, kissing the top of her head. “Everything was so perfect, InuYasha,” Kagome said quietly as she leaned back into her husband's embrace.
“Oh?” he whispered. “Well, then I guess I shouldn't give you this then,” he said as he held a small navy blue velvet box in front of her. Kagome gasped and turned to face him, holding the box in her hands.
“What is this?” she asked him.
InuYasha kissed the tip of her nose and simply said, “Open it.” Kagome opened the lid and stared down at the object inside. It was a simple silver banded ring with a rose pink jewel in the center that matched her necklace perfectly, on either side was a jewel, one emerald and one ruby, which she knew represented InuYasha and herself. On the inside of the band was engraved My red string. Tears brimmed Kagome's eyes as she looked back up into the face of the man that she had loved for more years than she hadn't.
Taking her face into both of his hands, InuYasha wiped the tears and spoke softly, “Kagome, you and Moroha are my everything. I would marry you everyday if you'd let me, but I'll settle for you saying yes to renewing our vows. Marry me again, Kagome. Marry me forever.”
Smiling through her tears, Kagome responded, “Oh, InuYasha, of course I will!” as she threw her arms around his neck and kissed him with every ounce of love she had for him. Without breaking the kiss, InuYasha lifted her up in his arms and carried her to their bedroom, preparing to show her just how much he loved her well into Christmas morning.

I hope you know that I really enjoy your video dunking on YH as a whole. I thought you explained things really well and was funny while doing it. And yes, unsurprisingly Moroha is the only good thing to come from YH, it's so true.
The thing about sessrin for me is that I was never gonna like it, regardless of how they handled it in YH, but I would've at least tolerated it if they handled it in a better way and if it at least added something to the plot. Like make it to where Sess and Rin don't see each for 10, 15 years AT ALL. Don't have Sess come visit her, don't have him leave her gifts, and don't have him "watch her from a far" or some bs like that. That way, he doesn't interfere w/ Rin's life and Rin can grow up with her own agency/personality that is completely seperate from Sesshomaru and his impact. And then have it be where maybe Rin, in her 20's, is traveling through an area one day (I imagine her becoming a traveling healer maybe) and she and Sessh just happen upon each other completely by coincidence. And THEN have that be when their "romantic" relationship begins.
It would never, rightfully and understandably, get rid of the controversy entirely, but it would at least minimize it.
But the way it's been handled makes me glad I stopped watching at episode 8.
Super glad you enjoyed! And yes, she is a treasure. We must protect her at all cost. It's hilarious that the Yashahime S2 writers clearly see that she's a major draw, considering how much attention she and Inukag have gotten this season (I will be complaining about these scenes in my S2 vid though, you have been warned).
So much about SessRin could've been fixed if they weren't so focused on Sesshomaru, and focused on Rin. Because you're right. It should be about her and her development before/if she gets together with Sesshomaru (and his development because he is not a grown-up but in this situation its Rin who is significantly under development let's be real here). Honestly, there could be an entire show about Rin struggling to pick between demons and humans. Any chance to repair the damage they did, they didn't do it. They could've ever have done some fixing with this season without changing anything from last season.
Like, imagine it. Rin gets out of the tree. Sesshomaru tells her to stay behind because she's still very weak. Rin watches him go, turns to Jaken as soon as he's out of sight and says come on. The next time you see her she's slinging arrows through Kirinmaru to protect her daughters, now in a demon hunter uniform of some kind, because of course she'd study archery/spiritualism living with Kaede. Sesshomaru is losing his shit because she's literally defrosting and she snaps at him that he's next. LIKE FUCKING IMAGINE. I just want her to smack him ONCE.
If the focus had gone from "you can't critique Sesshomaru-Sama at all because he's god's gift and knows best uwu" to "I'm so fucking mad at you, where are my girls, you promised to take care of them and one of them went missing for 10 years and you did nothing, WHERE ARE MY GIRLS", it would've changed the entire context of their relationship and showed that the power dynamic shifted spectacularly in the years since we saw them interact for more than a few moments.
It would've been ICONIC. I would've been screaming. And the moment that Rin sees her children, they're the focus. They're the ones she cares about. Put Sesshomaru in the dog house. I mean it. Make it clear that she's furious with him, even if it's just for a few episodes. She reunites with Kaede and Kohaku, making sure to give the relationship she would've had with them a proper acknowledgement.
I'm imagining Rin running all the way to Kaede's house, and hugging her and Kaede is emotional because she never thought she would see her again and getting the gear Kaede kept in a chest for her in case she came back. Have her spend time with her daughters. Make it clear that she had and has a life outside of Sesshomaru-Sama and she will be fine without him. Because she lost 14 years of her daughters lives. She will never get that back. She wasn't able to be there for them, and worst, he wasn't there for them.
Obviously, this wouldn't have been a total fix. This doesn't repair the bad writing from the start, and this doesn't fix the timeline issues (14 years? 20 years? Who knows), and obviously in this situation I'd want her to be drawn to look older. But it would be the appropriate response from the woman who never got to hold her children one fucking time. And don't start with the "historical accuracy, she would obey her husband" crap because Sango is also from the feudal era and she never had an issue telling Miroku exactly what she thought of him. And Rin probably spent a lot of time with Kagome and Sango, so the idea she wouldn't be influenced by them quite a bit is a stretch.
I say this genuinely; I don't think having a partner who worships him is good for Sesshomaru. All it does is feed his ego, and like, it's big enough. If he's going to be with anyone, it should be someone who doesn't give a single fuck about doing so (which is why I think Sesskagu is so fun). Like this show took every reason I disliked him in the original, his egomania, his inability to work with others, his aloofness for seemingly no reason other than being a stuck up and cranked it up to 1000.
Sessrin was never going to be embraced wholeheartedly by the community. It just wasn't. Like I was surprised at the amount of backlash, but that's just because I would see SessRin often in fanfic and fanart the few times I looked at Inuyasha stuff. Because you can't not put Sesshomaru with someone in fanfic. He needs to BE with someone. Single Sesshomaru? GASP. The horror. The shock.
That's probably what happened with the writers. They went online, saw a large community of people who liked it, presumed that everybody was okay with it, and went for it without ever considering that another part of the community would see it differently. Because he can't just be single or have a one-night stand with a woman from the village or something or maybe even just find the babies, sigh, and go "oh for fucks sake fine" and just tell everyone they're his. The idea of them being residuals of Naraku is fucking cool.
Thanks for the ask!

I have a lot of feelings about Yashahime right now, and not all of them are happy. It may turn out all right in the end, but the last few episodes have been a kind of tipping point for me where I’m not seeing how this can have a completely satisfying conclusion. I hope I’m wrong, but I feel like complainin’ because that’s what I do best.
I hate how the story separated the girls from their parents, not just for a little while, but literally from infancy so they do not know their parents at all. As far as I can tell, Towa and Setsuna were literally dumped under a tree and raised themselves…which is dumb. I don’t care if they are special half-yokai in a fairy tale world, I’m not willing to suspend my disbelief that much. At least Moroha was raised by a wolf pack. She wasn’t thrown from the womb to the woods.
Part of me thinks these second generation series love to separate the children from their parents because they cannot imagine the “cool” heroes doing something so mundane as changing a diaper or holding a toddler’s hand. In Boruto, Sasuke had to leave his young daughter behind for a ridiculously long period of time with no contact for “reasons.” Sesshomaru and Inuyasha are separated from their daughters for an improbably long time for…reasons, convoluted reasons I’m still trying to understand. Why would Inuyasha kill Kirinmaru if it would lead to Rin’s death? He and Kagome’s would not do that. Why did Sesshomaru let Zero burn down the forest? Why was Towa pulled into the future? Was it just Root Head trying to get to the pearls? Why stick the pearls in the girls eyes at all? Why? Why? Why?
These are the cool characters, and I guess we don’t want to imagine them raising babies, but that is exactly what I wanted to see. At the end of the original when Sango was washing clothes with her twin underfoot and Miroku had Hisui strapped to his back? That was amazing. I wanted that for Sesshomaru and Rin, and Inuyasha and Kagome. Obviously, there is a bigger story to tell, but a few of those moments would be all that is needed.
Instead, we get those moments with Towa and her adopted family. Adopted family is family period. I know this well since several members of my family are adopted, BUT I did not care to see Sota become a dad. I really didn’t. I got to see more of Moe pregnant and being a mother than I did of Rin and Kagome. I got to see Moe MAKING MUSIC with Setsuna, but not Rin, her mother who loved to sing and make up songs. I got to see Sota being a stern father and a loving father to Sesshomaru’s daughter, but I have not seen Sesshomaru or Rin or Inuyasha or Kagome as parents. And I’ve already said it, but to rip Rin’s children away from her when she had already lost her entire family once was just one tragedy too many.
To add insult to injury, in the same scene where Towa in her rage and despair claims she doesn’t care if Rin dies, Towa also thinks joyfully of the Higurashis and THANKS Zero for allowing her to meet them. I’m all for putting a positive spin on things, but that was bullshit. Towa’s power comes from love…okay. But so does Rin’s. I wanted to see a connection between Rin and her daughter, not anyone else.

One of the reasons I'm not actively watching Yashahime is because of this whole thing with Moroha being separated from her parents. Like, not only because I hate that personally and I think it was a really dumb plot point to make canon, but because there seems to be this theme with so many of my favorite characters being absent or shitty parents when there's no indication previously that would ever happen. I'm just sick of it. I'm happy with some of the canon pieces and everything else I'm just like...leave it.
The only reason I can bear watching some episodes of Yashahime is because I don't consider it canon. The only true canon for me is Rumiko Takahashi's manga, and nothing else (not even the Inuyasha anime).
But yeah, that seems to be a trend, right? I don't think I've seen anything as bad as Yashahime tho. I haven't watched Boruto, but I heard Naruto at least got to raise his kids and he's slowly fixing the conflicts he had with them? I also remember how Katara/Aang shippers were upset when The Legend of Korra came out and in that show it was said that Aang spent more time with one of his kids than the others, and his kids kind of resented him for it. But you know what? I wouldn't mind something like that for Inuyasha. I would much rather have a series where Inuyasha raised Moroha but he's an imperfect father. It would make sense because Inuyasha is clearly not a perfect person and he's always had troubles with relationships / social interactions because of his difficult life.
What Yashahime has done is rob him & Kagome of the chance to raise his kid from birth, and the writers made sure Moroha's life would be as bad as possible. Inuyasha's journey in canon, about finding a place to belong as a half-demon and finding companions that he can trust, was completely destroyed because none of his friends were there for his daughter when he needed them to be. But I'm pretty sure the reason the writers did this is precisely because they wanted us to be angry. In the age of social media, people tend to talk more about things that they hate and that make them angry than talk about things that they love. So the series get easy publicity, because we're talking about it and we're hoping this will be fixed somehow. The series introduced a thing called the "windmill of time", which hints at the possibility of a "time reset" so that none of this ever happened and the writers can leave the story in a clean state at the end. It's shitty, because this show isn't fun to watch and made us experience a lot of negative emotions, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's what the writers are doing.
There's also.... the problematic stuff in Yashahime, that I don't think they will fix, but that's a whole other can of worms that I'm not touching anymore, lol.

What bugs me about Moroha
There are so many things about Yashahime that bother me with how they treat Moroha that I could probably make a book out of it, but instead, I'm going to just talk about how Moroha was raised and has really no knowledge about her parents.
I imagine InuKag had to have had some sort of talk with Koga prior to him receiving her? Otherwise, wouldn't there have been some investigation on his and Ayame's part when Moroha showed up? Why didn't Koga and Ayame talk about InuKag to Moroha. Where is Koga now? He raised her, supposedly, for at least some of her life. You're telling me he allowed Yawaragi to sell her? And then after Yawaragi died, Koga didn't think he needed to check up on Moroha? Moroha clearly doesn't see Koga as an adoptive father as she never brings him up. Though her clothing is clearly inspired by them and how wild she can sometimes act is obviously from them.
Why did Kaede hardly ever talk about InuKag in general? Why did she not take in Moroha? Or treats her as indifferently as possible when she is in the village?
Sango and Miroku's children hardly seemed to know who Moroha was. How did they not know? Why didn't Miroku and Sango -InuYasha's and Kagome's best friends- not take in their friends' child? I can't believe they didn't know what happened to Moroha.
Like, InuYasha and Kagome disappear, do they think they are dead? Did they assume Moroha vanished with them? Except when years later Moroha shows up around the village a lot, Sango and Miroku never thought to bring her in and raise her themselves? Or did they know she was with the Wolf Demon Tribe and never visited? Never reached out to her?
The way the people that know InuYasha and Kagome treat their daughter is baffling to me. Like if I was InuYasha and Kagome, and I come back from the border of the afterlife and see how all my friends have treated my daughter, I would be so angry, like they are no longer my friends angry.
There must be some explanations that we haven't heard yet, and I keep watching, hoping to get some answers. But the way this show treats InuKag doesn't give me much hope.

Dear Moroha ("Dear Theodosia") IY Fan Animation WIP
I wasn't planning on posting my progress w/ this until I at least got to the line art stage, but I figured that since Yashahime season 2 has premiered now and we all collectively raged-quit over Moroha's continued mistreatment, I thought I'd do us all a favor and post some sweet and wholesome father/daughter content between Inuyasha and Moroha. Its what's canon in my mind and what they deserve!!!!
The song is called "Dear Theodosia" from the Hamilton musical, and is written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
I listened to this song and felt that it perfectly summed up Inuyasha's feelings for his little girl (and Miroku's feelings for Hisui), and I couldn't resist. I know Inuyasha might seem OOC, but I personally believe that by the time he and Kagome got married, and especially when he became a father, he had matured and softened around his love ones, especially towards his family.
Anyway, I hope you guys like what I have so far, I know it's messy, but its just the sketch stage before I move onto the actual line art, which won't be for a while since I haven't even made it to the Miroku/Hisui part yet, so bare with me.
If Sunrise isn't gotten give me animated InuKag/Moroha family content, then I'll have to animate it myself! That'll show 'em!!!

It’s seems like director is aware of how pathetic sesshomaru is during yashamine. I remember way back when the show first started and the director stated we were going to see sesshomaru suffer in yashamine and have to make tough decisions. Sesshomaru literally does nothing through yashamine. He just walks around and then stares at rin during her time in the fish bowl. All of his “tough decisions” were made selfishly and could have been talked about with inukag. He wasn’t a great father, husband, or brother. Yet the director is trying to use two of the fan favorite characters (kagome and moroha) to gaslight everyone into think sesshomaru was a great father that was misunderstood. Shipper might be stupid enough to buy the director is excuse (and yes they are now using moroha words to say sesshomaru was indeed a great father) but regular fans can see it’s completely bullshit. I know sesshomaru had a small character development in inuyasha but damn they truly did assassinated his character yashamine.
Oh, he is aware of it. No doubt about it. Social media has made it possible for the producers to know the audience's reaction to certain aspects of a show in real time. They know our expectations, our complaints, what worked and what didn't. Then they take this information and to the best of their abilities, try to adapt the show to addres those concerns in an attempt to please and cultivate the viewers.
Just look at how Moroha was treated in season one – not only in the story itself, but also advertising wise – and how she was treated in season two. The same with Inuyasha and Kagome, who at first had very scarce content but recently got promotional art after promotional art. It's clear they tried to focus on the Sessrin family initially but it didn't wake the audience's interest the way they hoped it would so they recalculated the route.
And if you ask me, this is probably one of the many reasons why Sessrin didn't get any real romantic interaction. From the beginning, people already feared this couple was gonna happen and the reaction against it when it was confirmed was even more visceral than Sunrise expected so they got reticent about making it worse by going full disgusting – which I think they were going to do, considering how the second opening juxtaposed a child Rin and Sesshomaru scene with a romantic Inukag one.
Another example is the cursed manga, which fixed pretty much everything we've been complaining about with the notable exception of the biggest, most obvious one. But it didn't mean they weren't aware of it. So much that at least Rin was drawn like an actual adult woman on it. Even the anime went out of its way to make Jaken soothe our worries by explicitly saying that Rin was most definitly 18 years old, he thinks, probably, if he can remember correcly.
And that's exactly what happened with Sesshomaru's characterization as a father. During Inuyasha, we've literally seen him in action as someone who has a child under his protection. We've seen how caring, helpful and present he was. So when they dropped this "rite of courage and cowardice" on us and made him act like the worst father in the history of fathers, of course we took just a little bit of issue with the complete horseshit, character assassination, absolute fucking nonsense that this is.
But instead of backing down, Sunrise doubled down. They could try and write themselves out of this mess. Personally, I thought Sesshomaru was acting that cold because his plan involved using the Windmill of Time to reboot the timeline they were in so in the end of the day his actions wouldn't matter because everything would be erased anyway and that's what Sunrise was going for. It's still shady and incredibly risky, yes, but it would have been way easier for me to accept. Or literally any other similar solution.
But be it because they thought it was too late (I recognize it's a huge change that would take too much work, especially in such a short period of time) or because there was an actual plot reason (mind you, I stopped watching it after episode four and the few things I know come from screenshots, especific clips and general commentary), the fact remais that they stood by it. But they still had to address the problem. And they did it by indirectly spoon feeding their case to the audience.
Imagine the twins are the viewers. We doubt that Sesshomaru worried or even cared about the girls because of the selfish, illogical and heartless choices he has made, especially concerning them.
We questioned the fact that he sat around and did nothing as his children faced mortal danger time and time again when he could easily have helped the out.
We pointed out how it wasn't fair or reasonable to dump so many responsibilities on the shoulders of these 14 years old kids, especially when it was his mess to clean up, the consequences of his decisions that were his mistakes to fix and his alone.
We compared the type of father he was to what we knew Inuyasha was gonna be, which was later confirmed: loving, responsible, caring, protective, reliable, helpful and so on...
But Sunrise, just like you said, used the characters to manipulate us into thinking that we got it all backwards. They tried to make it seem like the difference is because Inuyasha is a simple, "easy to undestand" character while Sesshomaru is this very complex man who is being wronged by everybody. We just aren't enlightened enough to understand the poor thing.
Because, after all, he's a strong demon who collected countless enemies through the years. Enemies that would not hesitate to attack his daughters if they got the chance, so it's better to tough them up.
So what if the training was way too cruel? So what if he never explained his reasons to the girls? So what if they couldn't understand why their father, the person who was supposed to help and protect them, made them go through it on purpose when he had the option not to? So what if they hated him for it? So what if they thought he was far too unforgiving?
Everything is fine because in the end of the day he put them through all of this so they wouldn't lose to any bully. It was a lesson that makes total sense and that they should actually be grateful for.
Except that they were literal babies. And I'm not even exaggerating. They were literal babies when he abandoned them to their own luck. One of them spent 10 years in a different dimension because of it. They were killed and brought back to life in the process. And most importantly: he could have taught them how to fight and protect themselves from anything without leaving them behind.
That being said, the choice of making Kagome saying to a rightfully pissed off Inuyasha that Sesshomaru had his reasons to act the way he did, then Rin and Moroha explaining said reasons to the confused twins is a deliberate tactic of manipulation. They're using characters they know we love to say what they want us to believe because it's easier for us to agree with them.
It's also easier to make characters tell things than to show those things to us. And that's what it all comes down to: the "show, don't tell" rule. They might tell us Rin was 18 years old, but they showed us that she was still pretty much a child. They might tell us Sesshomaru had his reasons to treat his children like crap: he wanted them to be strong enough to protect themselves. But what they showed us is that he was a shitty ass father.
That being said, I think it's naive to think shippers were stupid enough to buy it. For my own sanity, I have to believe no one over the age of 12 would fall for that bullshit. No. Deep down they know it makes no sense. What happens is that they choose to pretend they don't because it fits the narrative where their bias lies. That's it.
Rin looks like a child, sounds like a child, acts like a child, but Jaken expressly said she was 18 years old and that's something they can actually use against our narrative so they do it even though they know it's not true. Now the same thing is happening to Sesshomaru questionable parenting skills and Kagome, Rin and Moroha's lines. It doesn't matter the tell "contradicts" the "show" as long as the can throw the "tell" on our faces to try and convince us (and themselves) that they're right.
As for what the directors stated before the show, well... we're well past that. Yes, they lied about the mom being a mystery, they lied about Inuyasha getting a role in the story, they lied about every detail being a clue, they lied about Sesshomaru suffering and making tough decisions. And they did it all for money. Simple as that.
Now they're lying to manipulate us into thinking that we just don't get Sesshomaru at all.
But we do.
They are the ones who never did.

Thank you so much for asking @heynikkiyousofine!!! ❤️ ❤️ I wrote about The First and Last in a separate post, but here’s some more info about the other two:
If It Kills Me
Back in April, I had a particularly rough depression week, and this story ended up being born out of the dark place I was in mentally. I wanted to write something extremely angsty and depressing, with my main thought being to explore the grief Kagome or Inuyasha would go through if one genuinely believed the other to be dead (while still eventually having a happy ending). I formed a loose plot around that idea that includes the childhood-best-friends-to-lovers trope because I can never get enough (and to add another layer of angst where Kagome had finally confessed her love for Inuyasha and he told her that he doesn’t feel the same...I SWEAR THERE IS A HAPPY ENDING, don’t take anything at face value 😅)
I'm really reallyyyy excited about this story, because it will be my first time writing something in the mystery genre with action/suspense/plot twists! Most of the work I’ve done on this has been plotting/outlining as opposed to actual writing, so I don’t really have a snippet (at least nothing without major spoilers), but here’s what I can share so far:
The title comes from the song If It Kills Me by Jason Mraz that has been a favorite of mine since high school. I had actually been wanting write a story based on this song for a while, and once I got this idea fleshed out, I excitedly realized that it would be a perfect title for this story! Some of the lyrics are:
Well all I really wanna do is love you A kind much closer than friends use But I still can't say it after all we've been through And all I really want from you is to feel me As the feeling inside keeps building And I will find a way to you if it kills me If it kills me It might kill me
Rating: M

Baby Talk
(Total 180 here lmao 😂)
This is a fluffy-as-hell, post-canon InuKagMor oneshot that’s set a few weeks after Moroha’s birth. Kagome is completely worn out from being a new mom, and one night after an exhausting day just breaks down into tears because she’s just so tired. Finally, Moroha actually falls asleep, allowing Kagome to get a bit of rest as well. But she wakes up again shortly after and starts fussing, so in a desperate attempt to let his wife get just a little more sleep, Inuyasha takes Moroha into his arms and starts quietly pleading with her to let her mom sleep for a little while longer.
He quickly realizes that she is soothed by the sound of his voice, so he keeps talking for as long as he can. He ends up monologuing about how he hopes he’ll be a good father since he never had a good example of one growing up, how he’ll always protect her, how he’s excited to see how strong she’ll be and what kinds of powers she’ll have, etc...literally just pure sap 🥰. But eventually, Moroha needs to be fed again, so Kagome is woken up and the three have a sweet moment as a family.
This is the one I had wanted to finish for InuKag Week this year, when one of the themes was Parenting. Sadly, work and lack of ability to form coherent sentences got in the way, so this is still unfinished. It’s currently a little over 1k words, and will probably end up being somewhere in the 2k - 5k range. It should be easy enough to write/finish, but my brain has been extremely uncooperative lately when it comes to writing 🙃.
Here’s a (rough) sampling of this total sapfest (of course I can never resist adding in a little splash of fluffy InuKag at the end of family fics):
“I bet…that when she gets a little older…you’re going to be her hero.” Kagome tilted her head further back on his shoulder, meeting his gaze with a warm smile that crinkled the corners of her bleary eyes. “She’s probably going to follow you around everywhere wanting to play, and begging you to teach her how to do all of the cool stuff you can do.” Her eyes shut as she turned away to yawn, but the corners of her mouth lifted again a moment later, this time as if she were trying to stifle a laugh. “That’s when I’ll catch up on sleep.”
“Feh. Yeah right.”
Inuyasha’s dismissal was so quiet and halfhearted that he wasn’t sure if his wife even heard it at all. Truth be told, he couldn’t imagine anything else in the entire world that would make him feel more accomplished than if Moroha really did grow up to regard him as her hero. It was a beautiful dream, one he didn’t dare hope for too much just yet, but it stunned him to realize that it was an actual possibility.
