Kay was whiney, demanding and domineering. Apo was the submissive, soft, feminine, and agreeable girl that would've suited the entire mafia lifestyle as a wife 50x better than Kay. Yes, him and kay had more concrete and geniune enduring history and love but objectively kay was not the right fit for michaels direction once he stepped up and got into the family business especially after the don got shot. Kay could've accepted reality and the facts that the man she loved changed and she could've left, breaking up with Michael without any dramatics and moved on (like she eventually did after 2nd movie).

I could careless about both of them. Apo and Kay but Apo would've just blended in so well and adjusted to the life perfectly. She was made for it and men like Michael in that world needed Apos, at least on the rise and transition into power. Apo would've never disrespected him and aborted a human life like that especially without telling Michael. I can't see it for her at all. She would mostly get tired of his shit if she got fed up and would've left with the baby (even if he objected). She wouldnt have aborted as some self righteous pompous protest to his evil and madness. Like girl just say you didn't want another baby period and you hated him so thus you never wanted Michael's baby period.

A life is a life period, even if its not born yet and she knew michael was looking forward to having a boy. Its white entitlement and privilege she has that you guys dont seem to understand. She could've turned the baby over to Michael and been done with it. I think she deserved the slap he gave her and Its factual he loved Apo and both of his loves for apo and kay shouldn't be discredited.

This film was made back during a time where love could be conceptualized without needing a bunch of literal experiences together and a laundry list of memories.

Michael liked kay and "loved" her cause she was the best, nearest and only option out there. Men will have a general love for who they're with but there will always be a woman out there past present or future that will be his IT girl, his true type and who he would be with if he someone granted him the chance to have any type of woman he wanted and not just the woman he naturally met.

Apo isnt better than kay and kay isnt better than apo but everyone needs to accept that Apo was better suited for the lifestyle and organized crime. She just was. Last thing Michael needed was some blonde wife at home groaning and being dramatic about all of this like she never had a clue and couldn't leave. She was wealthier and better off than 80% of the country and most people with Michael and abusive relationships like Michael sister and her man existed. Michael stepped out on her when he was under the assumption he would start a new life in italy. Other than that? He always stayed with kay and anyone else would've did worse. Every other mob film the men cheat and dont care.

Apo didnt get a chance and didnt stand a chance but had she lived? Even if she were to have left michael eventually, she's still the better choice not cause of her being above or better but because he needed a more subdued, softer, easier to mold very TRADITIONAL old world kinda girl there.

All I ever saw with kay and michael aside from good times was butting heads, competition and kay determine to make him submit instead of just leaving peacefully and bowing out.

Kay was strong, stood up for herself and her children and was smart. Apollonia was a child, puppeted by her parents and sold off to the highest bidder and couldn't think or act by herself. Apollonia was the perfect young, naive and helpless girl that a corrupt, older mafioso would want on his arm for 3 reasons:

Control: The husband to dominate his wife and control her, having her agree to his every whim and demands.

Power: A mafioso who was also a family man was looked upon as having more structure and being respectable.

Children: To legitimize his family further and have sons to succeed the mafioso in the family business.

Michael's type was always Kay and women like Kay. If Kay wasn't the "right fit" for THE Michael Corleone, why the hell would a man as powerful, influential, well known and wealthy as him bother to keep her around? Michael could have had anyone he wanted. He could have had a woman like Apollonia brought to him out of Sicily faster than tracking Kay down to talk to her and get her back on his side. He chose not to, that was Michael's decision because he wanted to be with Kay. Nobody made Michael do anything he didn't want. Only Michael knew what was right for him and he acted on that.

You're right, Kay could have accepted the reality and the facts of what she had gotten herself into, but what is this so called "reality" and "facts"? She was lied to for over a decade, gaslit and deceived. She didn't know the "reality" and "facts". She knew whatever lies and secrecy Michael fed her to keep her quiet, confused and in line like he would have done with any woman in his life at that point. Kay could've left? She did. Once she realized her husband was becoming a sociopath, endangered her and her children's life (while she was pregnant, mind you) and all his lies came spilling through with his corrupt lifestyle he gaslit Kay into believing he was out of, she left. She did just that.

What dramatics? It was Michael who was dramatic. Michael got up yelling and acting abusive. Michael struck his wife. Was that necessary? Could he not have controlled himself? Let's not make excuses for his fury. What's ignored here is that Kay knew the only way to have Michael let her go, divorce her and make sure they never see each other again was to abort his child and bring it up to his face by insulting the family business (calling it "this Sicilian thing"). She understood it just as well as Michael did, so it was no "Sicilian thing", but she did what she had to do to make that man hate her so Kay could truly be free of him. Michael should have moved on. Why is half the plot of The Godfather Part III Michael chasing Kay around, telling her he loved her and wanted her back? Why was he lamenting like a loser? Why did he pretend to be her taxi driver? Why did he want all that closure? Talk about dramatic.

Apollonia would have been easier to abuse, control and manipulate. Those are the ONLY reasons why she would have adjusted "perfectly". Apollonia would never have left Michael even if he beat her day and night, and that's depressing and horrid to think of as a concept. She wouldn't have up and left, where would she go? She'd have broken English, no money, no education, no credentials to her name other than being a child-birthing machine and no job. She'd be stuck being Michael's bangmaid for the rest of her life. She'd know nothing but a lifetime of his cruelty and distance no matter how many children she popped out. That would be Michael's only use for her, just like how back in Sicily Michael's only use for her was for sex. It literally states in the book Michael married her because he was horny and knew people in Sicily were too "prude" and pre-marital sex was frowned upon. Also, he was bored, there for months without an end date and kept Apollonia as a "sex slave" (stated in the book verbatim) in the house without letting her see anyone for weeks.

Kay did want Michael's baby, which is clearly why she got pregnant with it and carried it for 3 months, until she almost got assassinated with Michael and her unborn child and discovered all of his lies. Why should she go and be a single mother of 3 children, one of which is a newborn baby without a father figure or the funds to support it? Why would she give birth to Michael's expectation; a boy more intelligent and cruder than Anthony to succeed Michael? Who the hell would wanna carry that nightmarish reminder in their body for 6 more months after divorcing the guy?

"A life is a life" I'm gonna have to stop you right there, anon. I'm more than happy to debate The Godfather on all levels, but not the topic of abortion. The fetus was in Kay's body, it's Kay's choice. She was in no way, shape or form entitled to carry a child for 9 months that she didn't want just to "hand it over" to Michael like it's some sweater she knit over a period of almost a year. Also, it's alarming you think Kay deserved to be hit because she had an abortion. You think domestic violence is justifiable in certain cases to you? Unless Kay gave birth to that baby and tore it apart alive in front of Michael's face, nothing warrants abuse, period. Full stop. Women don't deserve to be abused by their husbands.

Mario Puzo, the literal creator of The Godfather, Francis Ford Coppola and Al Pacino himself said Kay was the love of Michael's life many times over. Apollonia was never mentioned. In the book, it clearly states Michael only loved his father and Kay. It's not "factual" he loved Apollonia, that is strictly your opinion. It's actually incorrect, considering the given statements from Puzo and the novel.

"This film was made back during a time where love could be conceptualized" Incorrect. People had no issue falling in love and creating loving memories and bonds with each other in the 1940s-1960s. I think this is a form of Apollonia cope, because Michael had no bonding with Apollonia other than giving her presents to appease her parents through his wealth so he could literally do 1 thing with her) have sex. He had plenty of bonding with Kay though, and this seems to bother Apollonia stans. You can't discredit this just because it doesn't suit your narrative.

Kay was Michael's "it" girl whether you like it or not. Like I stated above, Michael could have had anyone he wanted if he truly didn't love or need Kay. Just as easily as he married Apollonia, he could have had any other pretty Sicilian girl or whatever to suit his corrupt lifestyle. Again, as Mario Puzo himself, along with Al Pacino and Francis Ford Coppola clamed, Kay Adams was the love of Michael Corleone's life. They're literally telling you right there that Kay IS the "IT" girl of Michael's life.

There's too much talk of what Michael "needed" to succeed in his lifestyle and not enough talk about his corruption, his evil personality, and the pain he caused others. Why are we trying to find women to be trapped alongside with him? Why are we picking which women best suit to go through those evils with him? We should be talking about how Michael deserved nothing good in his life because he fucked it all up for power. He could never be half the man his father was, and the irony of it is that he had it all from birth and he still chose to sabotage it.

That's all I'll say on that.

Though for equivalency sake i do have to mention that if Allen was the heart, i think Apocryphos would see Tyki say Allen couldn't be the heart and actually roll with it to protect the heart. so i don't think the fact Apo "confirms" Allen isn't the heart actually confirms anything, since on the contrary it's giving him an opportunity to protect the heart by agreeing.

I still think Allen isn't the heart, but Apocryphos's confirmation isn't actually one until we know for sure.

Beautiful art as always, some interesting things regarding the lore. Heart Theory is back on track, we have progress with the Noa memory and how Joyd apparently was affectionate to Nea?? god does Joyd know past!Allen is now the question....

But yeah more questions than not and more recentering some old theories back in topic.

The last Azem that will ever be was an Amaurotine named Apollo. Successor and student of Venat, Apollo was a traveler possessed of strong will and stronger whims. According to Emet-Selch, Hythlodaeus, Lahabrea and practically everyone Avi’li has spoken with in Elpis, Apollo was reckless, unpredictable. A troublemaker with enough good will and charisma that they got away with their antics. It only made sense they’d have a familiar such as Avi’li wandering around unsupervised. It only made sense that a familiar such as Avi’li would have a will like his master.

Themis is the first person Avi’li has heard call Apollo “aloof.” Themis also uses “polite,” “patient,” “compassionate.” As if he knows everything Avi’li’s heard already, Themis offers a new, balanced perspective.

“The Convocation seldom prefers wielding our collective powers to act. Instead we stay outside observers to the peculiarities of the Star,” Themis says. “For Apo—Azem, sometimes the choice for inaction is something they cannot abide, and so they act.”

This, Avi’li learns, is how Apollo earned their “reckless troublemaker” reputation.

Themis continues with an incident that happened many moons ago, an incident with a volcano and the unapproved use of a restricted concept—one of Lahabrea’s pet projects in fact. It was an effort orchestrated by Apollo in order to save an island threatened with imminent destruction. The self same island the Convocation elected to merely observe.

“Looking back I should have realized they would spare no effort in preventing the natural outcome. If it is in their power to relieve or prevent suffering, they will do so. That island had been evacuated of course, though the land and the homes of those people would have been entirely lost.” Themis shares a smile with Avi’li that feels like a secret. Avi’li leans in closer. “When I asked, they told me it was to protect the island’s delicious grapes, unique in their taste, and nothing more besides. Yet I suspect the true cause was to protect those homes loved by the people there.”

Avi’li smiles at that. He knows, by way of visions from Azem’s crystal, the truth in Apollo’s own words. That all that effort truly was for grapes, grapes that held enough meaning with the people, the land, to be worthy of preservation and protection all on their own.

“Why do you think they would lie about that?” Avi’li asks.

That gives Themis pause, and he taps on his chin. “Azem has a quiet sense of humor. It could be they were being coy as a tease.”

“Are they often like that? Coy.”

“Not at all. They are, in my opinion, refreshingly straightforward.”

Then why, Avi’li keeps this to himself, can you not accept this answer?

Man Suang is a pretty good and solid movie!

Ok, putting out there. I got involved in Thai drama due to Kinnporsche the Series, no I have no shame about it. It was fun, it had good looking dudes, and even though it initially seemed over the top in acting effort, the actors started to flow into their characters better and it was a fun show. Kinnporsche had amazing behind the sceens stuff that actually got me interested in the actors, especially Apo and Mile, who are freaking cute together. But all good things must end and so did the series.

But then there was a ray of hope! A glorious teaser was released.

Please note: Absolutely none of this teaser was in the movie, which I find both exasperating because I love every bit of it and the music, but also hilarious, because they caught your attention.

Please note pt. : All the BL lovers from Kinnporsche were salivating hard and if they said they weren't they're lying liars who lie.

So attention was given. And it took a long while, but then they released on official trailer at the Cannes Film Festival! Oh shnap, we got some extreme legitimacy here. This was not going to be cheap film, this was going to be quality. And all the BL lovers are still crying in anticipation at seeing their boys back together again.

Please note pt. 3: We still have NO idea what this movie is about. Just have the visual, which are gorgeous and a couple written lines teasing, but still no actual plotline. That's ok, the interest is still strong.

And one thing Be On Cloud does VERY well, is know how to advertise and keep people's interests. And it finally releases almost a year later. And lots of people cry. Not because it's a bad movie, but because there's no blatant BL storyline. There are hints, teases, looks, but that is not the main storyline. People are crying online, they've been deceived, there's no BL!

Please note pt. 4 (I'm having way to many please notes): Be On Cloud NEVER said it was BL. It was inferred since both Apo and Mile were pared in a movie together and the fact that Bo On Cloud only had the one series with mega BL plotlines.

The only reviews I could read (In English, which is all I read. I know, I should try other languages but I legit have tried 4 languages and I just can't) mostly complained about the lack of BL storyline and that it was slow at times. No synopsis, no breakdowns. Full stop. I was sad. I kept checking on my tried and true Tumblr, which normally doesn't disappoint, but nada, bupkis. I was sad. Again. There was no release date I could find with English subtitles. Again, sadness ensued.

But finally, glory be, it was announced that Man Suang release on Netflix. Today. Yay! And after work I sat and watch it all, and here is my review...finally.

Man Suang is actually a pretty good movie. Most of my knowledge of Thai culture comes from BL shows, which helped a little but I did have to pause occasionally to look something up (the betal nuts for example) and I'm sure I missed a lot of things, but I got a pretty good understanding of everything. The pacing was a bit different from movies in the US, and that could be jarring, but I got used to it. Overall it was a good movie. I'd watch it again (which is a big deal for me, I watch once and then remind myself with fanfiction).

Thoughts (spoilers below):

Everyone was in a fucked up position. Except, Tiang, fuck him.

Khem: Sweetheart, just trying to take care of his friend. The finale probably fucked him up a bit. I like to consider Chatra comes back and gives him some comfort.

Please note (Please don't ask me what number this is): There's now going to be a BL series called Shine which is going to follow their relationship. See? Just had to be patient.

Chatra: Yeah, I'd be concerned if my father was a traitor and my whole family was going to pay for it. (On a side note: What is the Thai repercussions for that? Ancient China had death of the whole family for so many generations, but I'm not sure what they are in Siam.)

Wan: Baby...honey...that was fucked up. I get where you were coming from with your severe PTSD but trying to blow everyone up is not the answer. But I do hate that he felt betrayed by Khem.

Hong: Look at my sheltered little man turn into a Bossman! I see good things in his future.

All the aunties and women in the show: Couldn't have done it without you and I love seeing all of you. Especially auntie who put the mean boss in his place while trying to feed the two newcomers. (Boss: Don't flirt with my woman! Auntie: I flirt with who I want to, go sit in the corner until you're repentant! Boss: Yes, ma'am).

And finally: Absolutely gorgeous set design and costumes. Like, super wow. Loved it all! It was interesting to see the crossover of Thai and western design, like Chatra's suit and cravat top/traditional pants combo at the end. Jarring, but I imagine that time period was jarring with all the different influences happening as well. Much like the differences in hairstyles which helped you identify Chinese descent from Thai descent (using the Queue hairstyle instead of fully or partially grown out hair).

Overall, solid job on Man Suang, I recommend it to anyone who is interested in new cultures, pretty people, and just an interesting storyline.

I have no idea what BOC is doing with Ta, Barcode and Copper. Utter mystery.

I mean it was already a weird enough decision to put Ta and Barcode together as Phee and Non opposite Ta and Copper, their branded pair. Copper hadn't even had his chance to act yet, while Barcode, and to a lesser degree Ta, were some of the company's most beloved actors (outside their true MVPs Apo, Mile and Bible). How many people gave DFF a chance solely because one or both of them starred in it ? I'm not into slashers. I started it to see how Barcode was faring acting wise, and I know I'm not the only one.

Hell, they even had their own ghost ship already. Not to mention that Jin was a huge point of contention in the fandom while Non was everyone's baby. Very unsurprisingly so. And that the main issue some people had with Phee was... That he didn't stick to his guns, aka Non. And then they also give Jin a crush on Non.

It was already weird as fuck. Companies love money. Tabarcode was a juicier cashcow than Tacopper. Barcode, once again one of their current main actors, is left pair-less, which I think is nice but isn't the most profitable option. Most people got over Jeff leaving anyway.

But you know what, I was like, fine, why not. Maybe for once a company focused on good casting instead of marketing (the casting was good, fight me). Or maybe they decided to be fair and stick to their THC cast.

But.

What on Earth are they doing right now then. They had a good bunch of Tacopper events (and I think they appear in each other's insta too), they're definitely marketing it. Yet they also keep having Ta and Barcode host events together. And now they have a fan meet with the three of them? Featuring the cutest goddamn poster? Look I know they're probably just trying to get the best of both worlds while they can but if they're going to market them as a trio then count me in. Go ahead BOC. Be wild. I'm watching closely.

HAHAHA ok I know the purple shirt and the suit today were also kind of controversial, but honestly my expectations are 5 levels* beneath the ground I was like "well that sure wasn't the worst thing Mile has ever worn thanks to Dior, so it definitely could be worse". Actually I saw his OFC post a comp of his outfits and uh, it does...give me appreciation... it always could've been worse (until we hit the bottom of the barrel this week)

Yeah, Mile's EMV will be lower this time. Apo's fits all looked amazing, and he has two over 1 mil likes and several ~800-900k, I think his EMV will be phenom. Most of Mile's a bit lower than this, his worst outfit is the most liked one...tears down my face.

I'm wondering what Dior is trying to pull here... I'm not thinking sabotage, but last time when they had the same number of posts, they had relatively the same EMV. If that's the case, Dior could seen this as an opportunity to use them as A/B testing for experimental outfits. Wild theory, but yeah, Mile's... Mile's outfits were struggling this round.

Arguing with build supporters is like sticking your head in the sand. They refuse to hold this nearly 30 year old man accountable for anything.

Even if you no longer think he uses misogynistic, homophobic or racist language or ‘jokes’ (which is doubtful) his image/brand has deservedly taken a hit. Build is not a cute bubbly baby angel, he actually seems like a huge jerk/asshole.

Fool me one shame on me, fool me twice shame on you.

I don't really expect to change the mind of people who believe we all use that type of language to vent about our friends/co-workers in private. So I just don't like the fact it seems people are acting like venting/complaining is the same thing as being racist/homophobic/sexist and all of us do it, in defense of Build. Just because they might do it, at least that's what they're revealing about themselves by saying this, that doesn't mean it's normal and something everyone does.

As for Build, he needs therapy badly because if he was feeling this much anger, jealous and petty towards his co-workers a few months ago before his co-workers even got all these big brand deals, especially when it comes to Bible and Apo, it's probably worst now. I'm not and probably will never be a fan of his after this, but I wish he would get help and stop being so damn insecure.

Golden Threads: Weaving Stories of a Lifetime

For the past few months we've been learning about life through different stories of different individuals. Different struggles and happiness, in this blog we had this wonderful chance to get to talk with a kind hearted woman named Candida, everyone close to her calls her Candi, or Lola Candida, at her ripe age of 83 she's still very active and very strong.

She can still go out by her self, do chores and even work, she's a traditional masseues that is well-known and well-loved by everyone. She was beloved by every client she had because of how well she does her job that helps those clients feel relief from body pains and some even claims that when they're being massaged by lola Candi, they will get better after a few hours.

Her common complaints about her body is her eyes, she's often tearing up without any reason, her grip is still good and can still do her usual routines like when she was younger, she shared that it was because she's been keeping herself busy, when she's not as busy as how she is today, she will lost her life balance. When it comes to recalling things she became a tad bit forgetful especially when it comes to street directions, but besides that she can still do everything

Lola Candi told us that she is very thankful that even if she's already this old she can still enjoy. The only bad thing she have as a habit up until now is smoking traditional Tobacco, she explained that it is her anting-anting to stop her teeth from hurting. Other than the visual problem, overall, she does not have any problem physically, but she shared that among her amigas that died, or is suffering from hypertension, diabetes or liver and lungs cancer

Her soft smile and encouraging hand grip would make you feel accepted and loved.

She said that her father did not live long because of the war. Her basic exercise would be cleaning the front of the house and walking around the village when she's not busy with her work.

The memory that she will often repeat and recall when talking to her were always about her achievements as a traditional masseues. She shared that even a doctor asked for help to make her daughter feel better, or when the people always line up Infront of her house to ask her to massage them, she shared that a lot of people will travel long just for her to massage and help them.

She shared that before she also assist mothers to deliver their baby at home, but because of the law that prohibits birth by hilot or midwifes, she no longer practice that even though there's a lot who visits her and requests to have her deliver their little ones.

She continued sharing that she's very much contented and proud on what she had achieve in life.

The decline in cognition, visual and hearing ability, somehow makes her aging a tad bit older

The only thing she want to advice to the younger generation is….

"To have my apo and anak be stable and happy"

She no longer assume or desire to be as intimidating and amazing as they are expecting her to be. She just want to live life stress free.

She wishes the future generation to have a fulfilling early years for them to not regret anything in the future.

Her stories were very interesting and fascinating, those stories emphasize that she's been through life, inspiring the younger generation.

As we journey through the tapestry of life, late adulthood reminds us of the beauty in embracing change and the strength found in wisdom gained over the years. This season of life is not just about looking back but also about cherishing the present and leaving a meaningful legacy for the future.

Before my college career, I genuinely had no concept of what it meant to be Filipino. I grew up thinking that being Filipino was just a fact of life—it wasn’t my identity. I only knew some Filipino dishes, I had only been to the Philippines twice in my lifetime, and (surprise surprise) I couldn’t speak Tagalog. If you asked me who I was while I was still in high school, I would’ve responded with adjectives like athletic, musical, funny, or stubborn. My Filipino culture was always a part of me subconsciously, but it was never an aspect of my personality that I found worthy of conversation with people outside of my immediate family. It was much easier to acknowledge my Filipino heritage through jokes about the brownness of my skin or by contributing to my classmates’ ill comments on Asian stereotypes. I often look back at the person I was throughout my childhood and wish that I hadn’t been so indifferent to learning about my culture, but that’s why I am now so grateful that FASA has given me this opportunity to explore the part of identity that I had once suppressed for so long.

When I first joined FASA, I’ll admit that I originally felt obligated to because of how involved my older sister Bea was. I already knew a majority of Bea’s friends, so joining FASA was more of a “why not?” situation than it was a “how could I pass this up?” opportunity. My thinking quickly shifted though at Fall Mass Meeting last year. I vividly remember the boba push with my small group after the event and traversing as a large Filipino clan from Rackham to Ding Tea. I think this was honestly one of the first times in my life that I had hung out with Asian people outside of my family. It sounds soo cliche, but it was on that walk that I started to feel different about my Fil-Am identity. I remember how welcoming and conversational everyone was and how eager we all were to learn each other's names. Never had I ever thought that I could find a community so fast, let alone in a demographic of people that I once wanted nothing to do with. From that day on, I involved myself in every FASA event that my busy schedule would allow, and I’ve made friendships here that I know will last a lifetime.

Confession time! Even though I was elected for Social Chair this year, I actually only went to a grand total of 2 out of the 7 social events as a freshman (half of Fall Mass Meeting, Fall FAM/Lin Reveal, and [not even] half of FAM Games). This was quite frustrating because almost all of the major events I missed were due to scheduling conflicts or prior commitments. I thought that I was “falling behind” in making friends in FASA because I had been so used to that high school mindset of “establish a friend group and stick to it.” However, I could not have been more naive. I eventually learned that although FASA can look like a large or intimidating community at a glance, it quickly becomes family. FASA has taught me that anyone and everyone is welcome here, whether you are Filipino by blood or Filipino by love (#FACT2022). 

This is why I wanted to run for Social Chair last year (aside from the fact that Amanda had been planting seeds since Day 1 and I’m an easily convincible person); I wanted to cater towards the members of FASA who, maybe like me, also had packed schedules and could only attend a small handful of social events. With every event I put on, I wanted to create an environment where new faces would feel safe to be themselves and eventually call FASA home. Of course, I wouldn’t have been able to attempt any of this vision without this incredible board and especially the following people…

(Ate) Bea: Thank you for introducing me to this home away from home. Thank you for letting me have the same friends as you and follow you around at FASA events whenever I would get anxious. I’ve definitely said a whole Senior Farewell speech about how much you mean to me, so you can refer to that again if you want to be reminded of more warm n fuzzies 🥱. But honestly, in high school, I wish I had a better appreciation for what it meant that you were a single Performance Chair who choreographed PCN and choreographed/competed in Battle, and the fact that you were Co-President during an entirely virtual school year is nothing to gloss over either. I might be a little late to the game, but I’m very proud and impressed of all that you accomplished within FASA. Thank you for leading by example of how to embrace my Fil-Am self, and I’m so glad we could share this community together.

Amanda: I’ll never forget how you recruited me to FASA before I even set foot on campus as a freshman. We were at Lucas’ grad party over the summer, we were standing by the dunk tank, and the conversation went something like this…

Amanda: Hey! Are you Bea’s sister? I’m Amanda, Sam’s cousin!

Me: Oh yes I am! Hi, nice to meet you!

Amanda: I’m the social chair. You should join FASA.

Me: ..Okay.

FAST FORWARD >> It’s a little bit over a year ago today, and the scene is set in one of the union basement booths (duh)...

Amanda: Hey are you running for board?

Me: Uhhh maybe, I’m not sure yet. I was thinking about it.

Amanda: You should run for social chair.

Me: Okay.

If you had not planted these seeds, I would not be here! You’ve been a major support system to me in FASA since, quite literally, Day 0. I know I can always count on you for honest advice and just a shoulder to lean on. Thank you for showing Andrew and I the ropes of being socials and never getting (visibly) annoyed at our many questions or concerns. I simply could not have pictured my FASA experience, let alone my time as social, without you <3. See you at the next lin hang! Haha get it cuz–

Alyssa and JC: Hey slays. I just wanted to pop in here and say that I think we finally squashed the beef this year (#walangbeef). This “socials vs culturals” war has gone on long enough, and I thank you guys for constantly being an open ear and available resource in all the events Andrew and I put on this year. Andrew and I might’ve grumbled at first at the idea of implementing elements of culture into every social event, but you helped us find ways to make it fun and intentional. I’m constantly amazed at the duo you guys are, as real recognizes real 🤝. I have really enjoyed working with you guys on board this year, and I am so proud of the work we accomplished together. Andrew: Story time! For anyone who doesn’t know, the first time Andrew and I met was not a positive experience (yes I am going to expose the both of us here). Andrew and I had dm’d a bit over the summer because Bea and Mango (hi mom, hi dad) suggested we become friends going into the school year to have a familiar face on campus. After maybe a couple weeks of chatting, I kinda ghosted Andrew (oops) and we didn’t end up meeting until the first day of Tagalog. Ate Irene had asked everyone why we all wanted to learn Filipino, and Andrew answered with, “I’m tired of my parents talking about me behind my back.” Everyone laughed, but apparently he looked over at me and I had a “scary,” unamused, dead expression. I was planning on introducing myself after class, but he immediately zipped out of the room and I thought to myself, “wow rude,” just to find out later that it was because he was scared of me! But wowow, fast-forward 19 months later, and here we are… 

Mannn, you already know that I couldn’t have done this job with anybody else. There are so many little traditions that I’m going to miss as co’s: post-meeting jam sessions, CAPS massage chairs, our outro + tagline, and just sitting for hours in the Union Panera bouncing off ideas until our brains are completely fried. Even though we always joke we’re the exact same person, I’ve learned a lot from you this year. You taught me how to never doubt myself and always give 110% into whatever I care about. You also taught me that although we are both perfectionists, nothing is ever going to go according to the original plan. We had to be alert yet composed at all times, which was never an easy task. As tiring of a position as Social Chair is, I never felt like either one of us settled with an event. We held each other accountable while understanding how to take space when needed. All of the ambitious and elaborate events we’ve pulled off continue to amaze me and make me proud of our tenure together. From planning a whole scavenger hunt and escape room to forming a real band with Greenwood (shoutout to Catrina, our third og member), I’m really amazed at the team we’ve become. Thanks for always keeping my ego in check, for becoming one of my best friends, and for being the best co I could ask for. Action items: GenAPA, be mush, and finish writing our album!

To the future Social Chairs: Simply put, this position and your time on board is whatever you make it to be. The biggest piece of advice I have for you is to never forget your “why”-- why did you run for social chair, what is the impact you want to leave on this community, and how are you going to do so? It’s easy to think that as a social chair, you have to constantly go above and beyond, always innovating and creating until you burn yourself out. Something I wish I knew at the beginning of the year was that although it can be fun to constantly invent new ideas, FASA can always use more laidback, chill events too. Remember, you facilitate da vibes. It doesn’t always have to be “go big or go home.” Just be there for your general members and they’ll see that you care <3. Be alert, don’t be too prideful to ask for help, pivot on the fly, and trust in your co. I’m very excited to see what you guys accomplish next year, and I will happily be here for support if you ever need anything!

To FASA: A lot of other people joke that my only personality trait nowadays is being Filipino, but I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you for being the community that has taught me how to be my most honest and unapologetic self. You’ve been responsible for the most meaningful aspects of my college experience thus far, and I wouldn’t trade that for anything. It’s been a pleasure being your Social Chair this year, and I’ll see you around!

1) look , kinn takes a look at them goods and went mmmmmhh he's got cake. But that's not the point. That you do to anyone you see. But to be able to look at the eyes , you have to get closer. And the minute he saw the eyes , his brain shot circuited.

3) And then this sexy brat with chunky b00bi*s and all that cake with a bratty mouth to boot looks like a baby , a freakin baby , when he sleeps. Kinn is like "really?!?!"

5) some people are not understanding the characters at all just two episodes in. Of course, just stop watching the series and tell everyone it's a poorly developed character fest and then look like an idiot when they ask you how many episodes you watched like????

11) I'd like to reiterate that the casting for the show is freaking GOOD. mile looks like kinn and apo like porsche.
