You’re making me think about something, his illusions always seemed to get worse when he was around Alma in general, i wonder, when the Third Exorcists came around, all with Alma’s essence inside of them, do you think it may have kicked out more illusions out of Kanda?
Like i’d be willing to bet the illusions get very bad around Alma in general, but away from Alma they’re still there but manageable.
But, considering the Third’s nature in regard to Alma, imagine if somehow, the illusions didn’t get *as bad* as when he’s near Alma, but they intensified?
Like in the time period between the introduction of the Thirds and the Alma arc, Kanda starts to notice his illusions become more and more common. And at first he brushes it off, this is probably just a fluke that’s gonna end in two days, but it starts to be distracting in missions too.
Also since concerns about Kanda’s illusions arise around that time, with him visiting the Asian Branch and all it wouldn’t be far fetched for him to be thinking after a while that “okay it’s getting worse, why.” Perhaps in the begining he just blames it on the Thirds, as part of an experiments, just triggers back his own memories and that’s all on a surface level and he cannot connect it to the deeper reason why.
Now that he came to term with what happened with Alma, it’s likely the illusions calmed down again (although i don’t think they’re gone-gone either, just back to the usual “can ignore it” that he would have got used to during the ten years away from Alma)
BUT ALSO considering eventually one day we will find back the Thirds, i’m raising you this hc, what if, if all i say is a possibility, after finally having made peace with what those illusions were about, just finding back the Thirds would just make it go wild again? Perhaps even more considering how much of Alma had taken over when Alma became an Akuma, and that it’s this predominance that makes them under the Earl’s control as of present?
Sorry to rain on your acceptance, but there’s potential for even more angst right here.
Been wondering if Kanda's illusions got better after he sorted things out w Alma at the end. I mean he still sees them, but thankfully it shouldn't hurt him as it did b4

this is actually so sick that Hoshino has been holding her "Lavi and Allen's souls are intrinsically intertwined" for herself since 2004 and it's why she is always drawing the two of them together, and meanwhile /i/ have spent the last decades of my life ever since 2009 arguing about how, despite not having THAT many scenes interreacting with one another, Allen and Lavi were foils and you couldn't understand their own personal arc without taking into account the others and i spent DECADES of my life analysing every single details of any little cases where Lavi's reaction to Allen was odd and noteworthy, and how "to me it's clear Allen matters to an incredible amount to Lavi, though i don't know if the opposite is true" AND THEN AFTER DECADES THEY HIT ME WITH "THEIR SOULS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN INTERTWINED"?????????? DECADES???? I DIDNT EVEN THINK LAVI WAS REINCARNATED WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO ME????????????????
Hoshino is CONSTANTLY DRAWING ALLEN AND LAVI TOGETHER AND I WAS LIKE "AHAH IT'S BECAUSE THEY'RE HER FAVORITES BC THEY DONT INTERREACT THIS MUCH BUT ALSO THEY'RE FOILS I SWEAR" AND ALL ALONG, FOR TWENTY YEARS, HOSHINO HAS BEEN DRAWING THEM TOGETHER CONSTANTLY BECAUSE SHE KNEW "THEIR SOULS ARE INTERTWINED, AND HAVE BEEN EVEN BEFORE THEY MET"????????????????????????????????
ALSO
spent DECADES of my life arguing Lavi was the guardian of the Heart of Innocence specifically because weird Innocence stuff started acting out around him THE MOMENT he believed Allen died and he was so freaked out about it and about the possibility of Allen dying again, and then at THAT MOMENT every innocences Lavi was in contact with started to act wonky specifically as a mean to protect and especially a mean to protect Allen,
and you're telling me. you're telling ME. THAT IN THEIR PAST LIVES. LAVI LITERALLY USED THE HEART OF INNOCENCE TO SAVE ALLEN'S LIFE BY MAKING ALLEN'S NEW BODY OUT OF THE HEART OF INNOCENCE? BY LITERALLY WRAPPING THE VERY SCIENCE AND LAWS OF THE UNIVERSE TO PROTECT ALLEN??????? YOU'RE SAYING WHAT? YOU'RE SAYING WHAT???????????
AND THE IMPLICATION A PART OF THE HEART STILL MOVED ON TO CURRENT!LAVI??
LITERAL DECADES OF MY LIFE? LITERAL. DECADES. OF MY LIFE???????????????????

also it's making me think.
People in the manga often remarks on Allen's white hair as how it makes him look like an old man, aka closer to death, and people say it shows he's cursed
Tumblr media
but now we know that
Lavi met Allen and didn't see an old man or a curse,
Tumblr media
but he saw the dazzling light that saved his life once
Tumblr media
where everyone saw more death and curse from Allen at first glance, Lavi was the only one to associate it to the one light that once saved his life.
that's fucked up or what.

WELL IN THE LIGHTS OF WHAT I'VE BEEN READING TODAY.
KNOWING THEY REINCARNATED WHILE ALLEN WAS LITERALLY BEING DEVOURED BY THE LIGHT OF APOCRYPHOS' INNOCENCE POWER BEFORE LAVI JUMPED IN TO SAVE HIM?
AND LAVI WAS WORRIED ABOUT ALLEN FADING AWAY IN THE LIGHT?
AND HOSHINO SAYING RECENTLY HE WAS UNAWARELY REMEMBERING PAST!ALLEN?
BECAUSE HE'S SCARED ALLEN WILL FADE INTO THE LIGHT. AGAIN?????

Yknow it still is wild to me because for years I've argued that Allen genuinely seemed to be more relaxed around Lavi?
He becomes childish with Lavi much more easily and very bratty, he seems less serious around him in general, without it being from an antagonistic place.
Like, they pull pranks on each others, like in the guidebook where Lavi sneaked some wasabi in Allen's food and Allen chased him in the whole Order to shove a tube of Wasabi on his tongue.
Or they also share one braincell, re the whole Vampire arc and how sometimes with just a glance they decide on doing something stupid ?rock/paper/scissor to figure out who is going to open a grave, without exactly discussing it beforehand)
Like it felt to me that Allen was letting some defenses down around Lavi. Not in the sense of being more honest with him, but in the sense of being carried in by the moment.
(Though i need to mention that Lavi also witnessed Allen admitting to having been suicidal to Krory, and also was there in the room with them when Cross told Allen he was going to be taken over by the 14th and that Mana and Nea were twins)
I've argued that for years so much so i found back asks telling me i was imagining things.
But now like. Wouldn't you lower your guard around the person you share a bit of your soul with. That's not that far-fetched, is it.

so, leaving aside any "Heart of Innocence" as the entity itself,
what if the part of Lavi's soul inside of Allen is specifically inside his Innocence?
Like how the piece of Mana's soul in Allen is specifically located in his eye?
After all, Apocryphos unleashed an innocence to eat Allen up, but Lavi reformed the innocence around Allen with the helix to give him a new body, and then his new innocence arm.
But we know that early on the arm wasn't fully mixed with Allen's body, had a hard time syncronizing and all, and didn't really awaken until he had to face Mana and Mana cursed him on the eye.
Maybe the danger, or even the fact Mana cursing Allen added a new soul inside of him, was enough to "awaken" the innocence fully, but also the piece of Past!Lavi that was inside of it. And it would have shown itself by turning Allen's hair white, as it's then Past!Lavi's protection on him being made clear.
I always said Lavi=Heart because the Innocences around him started to act weird when he was being emotional.
when it comes to Allen, Lavi was worried sick when he left after Suman and was in denial about his potential death until they found the playing cards. This is when the innocence around Allen was protecting him like a fog and reformed his own heart after it was eaten by Teaz.
Then when Tyki meets Lavi and decides to spite him by sending Akuma after Allen, it's when Allen finally manage to reform his Innocence as Crown Clown, the white cape that is shielding him from everything else, protecting him, when Lavi was worried when Tyki was attacking him.
And then Allen's innocence evolved into a sword that couldn't hurt humans right when Lavi was vulnerable in Road's dreamworld, right before Allen had to fight him. It answered to Allen's desires, yes, but Lavi taunting Road about how "my heart hasn't shattered/been smashed yet" is supperposed on Allen having been smashed by Tyki and his innocence nearly shattered RIGHT before it evolves into the sword that he will later use to protect Lavi.
It could have nothing to do with Lavi being the Heart of Innocence-- but have to do with the fact a part of Lavi's soul reside in the innocence of Allen itself. Probably merged with the will of the innocence until creating Crown Clown, which has its own set of will and desire. But would also explain why CC doesn't obey Apocryphos or why it is more interested in mirroring Allen's desires. (i do think CC is its own entity in itself and not just Past!Lavi soul, but that Past!Lavi soul probably coexist with CC's own will.)
but it also means that therefore when the innocence reformed Allen's heart, it would mean Past!Lavi's part of the soul would be in Allen's heart.
and through CC he would be working to protect Allen, which is why CC's cape can shield him. This way he can keep the promise he made about "I'll protect you with my life"
Do you get the vision i'm coming accross here.

Discussing with Noro about the newest chapter and she wanted to precise exactly what is happening with the Helix:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I explained the helix of life to you many times before, remember? And that Innocence is a lifeform that eats the energy from said helix of life. The strength of the energy produced by people's helixes depends on how their fates lead them through through weal and woe. Innocence chooses those tossed the most by fate as "accommodators" and possesses them. They eat the "accommodators"' helixes and so have been turning them into offerings to the Heart." "Allen, if your helix and mine are mixed, it will generate a huge amount of energy. The Heart's body is still incomplete, so it should be too much for it to digest. It will probably vomit us back."
then Noro's additional explaination:
But yeah, beyond explaining So Much about how the story treats Innocence. The biggest points to me are how it's virtually the same idea as Dark Matter, but instead of forcing the Despair required and eating the dead soul away, it takes souls that naturally have the right degree of Fuckedness and eats juuuust enough to keep them alive and well, and two: that is until they disobey, Suman Dark not having a soul after becoming a Fallen One seems now simply the Innocence deciding to get all the energy out before discarding him

wait do you think the fact Lavi was introduced just after the Rewinding Town incident always a thematic meta hint that him and Allen.... rewind time itself.... to be reborn......

I often think about how we cut to Lavi's reaction to Allen's monologue here.
I mean like. Lavi knows about Mana. He knows Allen called an Akuma of someone he loved and had to destroy him.
So when Krory, who they establish immediately as suicidal, is expressing his sadness over destroying Eliade, the Akuma he loved, Allen is speaking from the heart.
Allen is saying "i know this pain that makes you want to die. Please use it so that this death isn't in vain."
He's saying he's been suicidal too over killing Mana, he gets it.
And Lavi's reaction makes me think Lavi gets it too. Because he's looking at Allen. He knows how Allen relates to this situation.
Allen dealt with the suicidal thoughts that came with his grief by giving himself fully to the innocence.
*deep breath*
So now with the infos we have about their past lives doesn't that add a fucked up element.
Past!Lavi merged Past!Allen with innocence to save him, to give him another chance at life, even though he knew it will be a miserable life. He gave his own life for it while Past!Allen was begging for him to keep on living for himself.
You sacrifice your life, your everything, to make sure He Lives. You use the innocence to give him another chance. And when you meet him again in the next life, even though you don't know you used to know him, he makes clear he had been suicidal. that he wanted to die, until he gave his life to the innocence.
you gave him a new life. You meet him in the next life and learn he wanted to end it.
And even without the knowledge of their past lives, that they do not have,
Lavi still associates Allen with the Silver Hair of That Guy who saved his life in the past. Of the guy that forbid him from just following the light and die. And Hoshino made clear in some interviews that Lavi often thought about it-- about Allen being just that Light, that day, fading away.
He meets a man with hair so white it reminds him of the Light that saved his life, pushed him to keep on living. And he learn this very Light almost faded early because this guy wanted to end it all.
AND EVEN THERE.
He sees how Allen is encouraging Krory to keep on living. Like the Light that saved him that day. Like Past!Allen cradling Past!Lavi's head in his arms crying that Lavi needed to keep on living. Do you think he's thinking about that, deep down?
FUCKED UP OR WHAT.
