Bakugo

Bakugo never had a reason to be jealous of anyone. He was a power house in every subject : smarts, strength, and definitely looks. So why did he get so anxious and annoyed when he sees dunce face flirting you up? You weren’t even dating so why did he feel so off about you giving someone else attention?

It was a simple conversation between you can kaminari. You were talking about your match from the sports festival where you had completely crushed him in a matter of seconds. But when you look across the table you see bakugo looking like he has to take a fat shit. When he looks up your eyes meet, he start walking over to where you and Kami are letting out a gruff “Let’s go. Meet me at ground beta in 5” he left you with no room for argument so you say your goodbyes to kaminari and do as you were told. When you arrive bakugos already there starting his warm up. You do a couple of stretches before you begin your spar. Usually bakugo would hold back but he’d never tell you that. But today was not like that. The punches were connecting and you ended up on the floor with him hovering over you. Before you can push him off he leans in close to your face looking into your eyes. You were speechless wondering his next move. “Why were you talking to dunce face?” He said out of nowhere pushing himself off of you pulling you to your feet expecting an answer. “We went over our fight from the festival” you said with a questioning gaze “then he didn’t need to be giving you so many compliments. ‘You were smoking’ ‘you are so strong and talented’ ‘I’m glad it was you I lost to’” he said mimicking Kami’s voice making you chuckle “you jealous?” You said snickering making him furrow his brows “what the hell no ofc not” he looked away before continuing “I just want you to be mine Goddamnit, I’m the only one who can compliment you like that. Not dunce face not anyone else just me”

I don’t think he even realizes he’s jealous but when he does he’s not going to overreact until it’s just you two. Esp if you aren’t dating.

Kirishima

Kiri had never been a jealous person sure he had his insecurities but he trusted you and trusted that you’d love him and him alone. So why did the cashier flirting with you make him so damn mad?

You were giggling as if the guy handing you your ice cream was the funniest person ever. He’d made a couple of jokes about the flavor you’d chosen it was barely worth a smirk so why were you laughing so damn hard? Kirishima side eyed you and the cashier before paying slapping the money on the counter not even bothering to collect his change pulling you by your hand out of the shop. You had questioned his actions but assumed he wanted to continue yalls date asap. You had started talking about another subject but quickly noticed his uncharacteristically sour mood. “What’s wrong with you?” You said poking his shoulder jokingly. “ why’d you laugh so hard at his jokes huh? Really was it that funny?” he said looking at the floor in that moment you realized that he was jealous but his jokes weren’t what made you laugh. “He had a booger hanging from his nose it was hard not to giggle so I used his jokes to cover it. I thought you’d notice too!” You said chuckling but in reality kiri refused to look the guy in the face. “What? I embarrassed myself.” He said before pulling you into his side messed up your hair and laughing when you shoved him off

He’s not going to have an insane reaction but he will act on it because why wouldn’t he? He’s calm but also heated!

Kaminari

Kaminari has always been a flirt. It was unintentional at most times. So why did he feel so icky whenever a guy did the same to you?

You had been walking down town when one of those interview podcasters came up to you and your boyfriend. He complimented your outfit and your hair and your makeup and your perfume. “You’re doing too much” Denki said with a dull gaze making the guy stutter over his words. He quickly began doing the same thing he was before with all the compliments and he lost it. “Stop recording this is done” he said covering the camera looking the guy in his eyes “but we still need a couple more shots the cameras about to die man we can’t start on someone new!” The man said in retaliation making Denki feel worse than he already was he used his electricity to charge it “there happy?” He said sarcastically before grabbing your hand and dragging you away

Kami would def do smth about it. And he’s not afraid to say something either just because that’s who he is if he can speak up to bakugo he can speak up to a “nobody”

Sero

Sero hated when you trained with other people. But he knew it wasn’t good for either of you to solely train with each other bc not every villain would have the others quirk.

When he walked into ground beta he was surprised to see that you were already there, hiding in an alley way of one of the fake buildings trying to fix a piece of gear that had been broken. He waves over to you and you put your finger to your lips with a harsh glare. He wondered who you were training with and why you hadn’t told him before hand when he asked you to train with him. Soon the answer to his question arrives as Monomas booming voice is heard from a building behind him. Using your own quirk against you to jump down to where you had been. “I quit monoma my shooters are lodged and they’re tightening around my wrists and it hurts” you said banging your support item against the wall to get it un stuck “okay guess 1A ISNT ALL THAT ITS CRACKED UP TO B-“ “shut it” was the last thing you said before walking over to sero planting a kiss on his cheek but you notice his sharp glare and scrunched up nose barely reciprocating your kiss placing a barely noticeable peck to your cheek. “Why’re you so grumpy Hanta?” You said finally freeing your hand “why didn’t you tell me you were training, especially with monoma, I hate that guy” he responded as you guys walked out to campus “well I knew you’d be all..silly about it” you said lacing your fingers noticing the way his face contorts even more “but it was wrong of me to do that and I should’ve considered how you’d feel but I know how you feel about training with other people.” You quickly let out “fine your apology is accepted but only because I’m hungry and you’re paying” he said looking down/up at you with a smile.

He’s a jealous person but he definitely understands and doesn’t over react. Does love the affection you give him afterwards though. He won’t take advantage of it though….right?

Mina

Being a girl in a wlw relationship was so hard. Especially when adding other girl friends into the mix. Close friends that sometimes tipped Mina’s scale from bestfriend behavior to down right flirting.

All the 1A girls decided to have a sleep over in hagakures room. It was a fun night of face masks, nail painting, gossip and flirting? Mina sat across from you and Ururaka as you two talked about everything and anything. This was fine she knew how close the two of you were until she saw the way Ururaka cuffed your cheek wiping off some crumbs from your face. Strike 1. Later on in the night when everyone decided it’d be nice to do each others hair and makeup the first person to volunteer to do yours was Ururaka. She was doing your eyeliner and couldn’t get you close enough so she half way straddled your waist before quickly moving off once she was done. Strike 2. When everyone decided it’d had began to wind down they put on a movie you were sandwiched on the floor between Mina on your right and Ururaka on your left. Ururaka lifted her arm up leaving it hanging on the bed above your shoulder you hadn’t even noticed in all honesty but Mina did. Strike 3. Luckily by now everyone had gone to sleep except the three of you. “What’s your deal Ururaka?” Mina whispered harshly looking over your shoulder to her “what?” Ururaka said confused even you through a worried glance at Mina “you’ve been all up on [name] all night” she said getting up from her spot you quickly following behind as she left the dorm room quietly closing the door “you okay Mina?” “Are you okay? Why’re you letting her get all over you like that?” She said pink cheeks turning into a deep red as she crossed her arms “wdym?” You said scratching the back of your neck “you can have friends but I don’t want them touching you cupping your face straddling you arm on your shoulder?? Those are all moves being put on you.” She looking into your face she knew you didn’t see it that way but she still confided it. “Okay I can be more aware of that” you said cupping her cheeks as she moved her face over to kiss your lips “thank you” she whispered noses touching

Definitely reacts a lot like Denki and will say smth. She knows her worth and she trusts you but when it happened too many times she’s not afraid to speak up and won’t cause a fight about it..

Jirou

She knows there is no way in hell you’d leave her for Mineta so why do his constant comments rile her up so much?

Everybody was siting in the common area. You and Jirou were sitting on a couch you in jirous lap as you scrolled on TikTok. You had the bliss of being unaware of the conversation Denki and Mineta were having, but she didn’t. They were in the kitchen loudly making themselves a snack when out of nowhere Mineta says “I really wish [name] wasn’t [sexuality] she’s so hot. Boobs galore. Jirous a lucky woman to get that all to herself she’s greedy” face red about to cream his pants “Mineta dude no.” Denki said disappointedly hurrying out of the kitchen area to play Mario kart. Jirous face quickly contorts into a look of disgust and anger. You felt her stiffen and when you looked over to her it was a face you’d grown too know very well her jealous face. “What happened?” You whispered curling into her more “Mineta happened” she said through gritted teeth looking down at you you licked your head up smooching her lips with a giggle “leave him he’s gonna die a virgin” she laughed at that laying her chin on your head wrapping her arms tightly around you “yeah”.

She’s a very jealous person but honestly poor baby just needs reassurance. Plus she knows you and that you would never want to hurt her.

“Sinners” movie spoilers!!!

I’m going to be diving into two characters, what I’ve seen folks say about them & why I disagree.

Remmick:

Folks have been sayin “He’s the devil!” And the argument has been that he came because Sammie wasn’t following what his father preached, and “the devil can quote the scripture too!” As well as sayin “He’s purely manipulative and just saying whatever he thinks will get him in!” “He only wants Sammie!”

I firmly disagree.

Remmick was drawn because of Sam’s music, sure, but folks ain’t payin attention to WHY.

Remmick SAYS that he was THERE when the Christians invaded Ireland, forced their religion and took his father’s land, he also became a vampire leading him to outlive anyone who did make it through the Christian invasion. Remmick, as far as we know, is alone. His culture was erased, his family is dead, he has no one and nothing.

He comes across the Juke, sees folks he KNOWS been through similar shit that he went through, he’s seen this shit before. Hell, in the 1930s I believe the Irish were STILL dealin w BS in the US! Remmick sees their sense of community, their love for one another, he sees/senses Sam’s gift… and he sees folks who got it worse just bc of how they were born.

Remmick seems insulted when accused of being Klan, he’s playful with our main characters- “oh, is it because we’re… :(“ “we’ll walk real slow, in case you change your mind… *glances back*”

Plus… if he ONLY wanted Sammie, he coulda easily grabbed Mary when she walked out and used her as a bargaining chip. He didn’t.

I ain’t sayin he isn’t manipulative, or it was ALL truths.

I’m sayin that it’s entirely possibly that he is meant to be essentially “the road to hell is paved with good intentions.”

He wants a family, and he wants to see HIS family. He sees these ppl who have family, the ability to connect with their ancestors, but who are stuck with having to function within a fucked up society. He sees their desire for true freedom… which he might think he can provide, at the very least in a racially based context.

I think Remmick is meant to be a complicated character in a sense. I think he’s meant to be an example of how dangerous someone can be when they assume to know what’s best for other marginalized communities, and trying to push them into adhering to those beliefs. Personally, I think it’s entirely possible that he’s meant to be an example of the harms of colonization and even oppression in general, and how even victims of these things can “give in” and become what they hate if they’re not careful. If they don’t remain mindful, empathetic, and willing to learn.

Mary

(This is an important place to start I promise)

I’ve seen folks say that they wish she had been a “visibly black, but white passing” woman. This seems to stem from the perspective that “white passing” implies an ACTIVE effort to do so (straightening hair, lightening skin, nose job, etc) instead of simply something someone can be if they don’t happen to take after their more melanated parent/grandparent.

Perhaps it’s because I’ve grown up in a fairly diverse region/school system, but… that has never been what “white passing” truly meant to me. I’ve seen folks of a wide array of skintones, haircolors/textures, eye colors, who still claimed their non-whiteness proudly, and were nearly never chastised against it, at least not once we made it to high school and at least the majority of us seemed to realize that simply being paler than most black folks and having lighter colored eyes didn’t make you white. That’s just bein lightskinned.

The folks who WERE considered “white passing” were people who DIDNT need to do anything to be perceived as such at a quick glance. So, if Hailee had (prominently) green/blue eyes. Otherwise, if any girl at my school looked like her, pretty much everyone woulda been like “ooh girl what are you? Hispanic? No?? Got a lil somethin else in your family tree then, right??” So that’s perhaps why the “visibly black, but also white passing” complaint just… does not make sense to me.

PLUS… Mary is meant to be a naturally white passing woman.

This is IMPORTANT.

She is meant to be fully capable of marrying a rich white man, living amongst white folks, and not getting side eyed by them.

She also doesn’t seem to TRULY accept that she is, naturally, white passing to most folks, ESPECIALLY (and in this context, most IMPORTANTLY) white people, at least at times.

She talks absolutely RECKLESS to Stack at the train station. She loves him deeply, clearly, and yet seemingly doesn’t realize just how DANGEROUS it is for her to even speak to him casually, let alone how she was speaking to him, in broad daylight. Iirc it was said that another (minor) character had been snatched up, strung up, and gotten his genitalia cut off at that station for speaking to a white woman.

Mary later forces her presence at Juke with no thought as to how others there might feel, let alone the potential ramifications of her being connected to that place by (white) outsiders.

THEN, she convinces Stack to let her go talk to Remmick & co, BECAUSE “they’re more likely-“ to talk to her. Because she is white passing.

(Pause, bc I feel this needs to be said- I ain’t blaming her. OBVIOUSLY the vampires were gonna get folks one way or another. People gotta piss, gotta get home, etc. that being said…)

I think it was another intentional choice for Mary to have been the one to go out, to have been the first turned, to have been the “foot in the door” in a sense…

And that’s a shared point between her and Remmick- not necessarily truly realizing the harm one can cause by not being aware of one’s own privileges essentially.

Remmick and Mary both essentially lost their cultures and families. Both wanted those things back. Both risked/caused harm.

Now, I will say- Remmick is 100% a villain. He’s had hundreds of years. He’s seen shit. He’s lost shit. He’s had to carry that weight this whole time. I do think, at the very least, he knew he was causing IMMEDIATE harm & disregarding these folk’s potential desires in favor of his own longterm goals. Those descendants we saw in “I lied to you”? Many will never exist because of what happened that night. Even if they had ALL been turned & lived happy lives w each other, NONE of those descendants would exist.

Mary is more so a more… “direct to life” example of the harm it can cause an individual to be “cut off” from their community, to have to give up their culture, to be left feeling isolated bc they don’t truly fit in anywhere, as well as the harm people can cause when we focus more so on our own wants and needs vs the impact that could have on others.

Remove Remmick, & we could have still ended up with essentially the same exact ending…

Only, this time it’s the Klan members that show up. At the very least the “main family” would likely still have been there, cleaning up. Only this time, Mary might have been the sole survivor… forced to watch her family suffer at the hands of the Klan. At “best” she would have been spared (severe, visible, physical) harm, return to her husband a mysteriously broken woman. At worst…?

NOW, somethin else I’ve seen is folks online talkin about how Mary is proof that folks shouldn’t be with anyone outside of their race.

I disagree with that as well.

Yes, the movie could have ended essentially the same minus the vampires.

But that ain’t because of Mary. REGARDLESS of if Mary was there, the vampires would have found a way. Even without Mary AND without the vampires, the Klan STILL would have came! Mary had nothin to do with them. They were simply racist assholes who did this routinely. Stack’s comment about Juke being “a slaughterhouse”… bc the white folks would sell the shack to black folks, kill them the next day, rinse and repeat.

Mary is not some “bringer of evil.” Sammie wasn’t some “sinful being that brought the devil.”

They’re just hurt people, who wanted to be WITH THEIR LOVED ONES. Just people stuck in a dogshit society, in a dogshit situation, in a dogshit position where no one was gonna win.

Take away the vampires, Mary, and Sam… the fuckin Klan was STILL GOING TO SHOW UP. The twins likely still would have ended up with a decent turnout, plenty of community members there. Plenty of folks JUST wanting a night of freedom, community, fun. Who knows how many would have been gettin scraped off the floor after a few too many at the end of the night? Who knows how many would have stuck around to help clean up the place? Who knows how many might have, at best, only been getting into their cars by the time the Klan arrived?

I NEED people to stop and THINK.

The movie is deeper than “easy” lessons like “don’t mix with others” and “don’t stray from god/the god your preacher talks about.”

Sammie survived BECAUSE of his guitar, because of the SILVER from the guitar. God didn’t save him when he prayed. His father didn’t check on him when he showed up at mass beaten and bloody and traumatized. He left, and went on to become seemingly a successful artist.

Mary and Stack survived the night, and for decades more at least. They’re together, happily, no longer having to hide.

Smoke didn’t survive, but even if you don’t believe in an afterlife, his last moments were happy- he was with Annie and their baby. If you do believe in an afterlife, he is likely STILL with her and their baby, which is what THEY wanted… to be together, with their baby.

No, it’s not a happy ending… not a truly clean and happy ever after type ending at least.

But… the alternative?

Sam giving up his passion, which leads him to settling into a life he clearly ain’t really want if he made it to be old af and still performing.

Mary pretending to be fully white, going her whole life missing the person she TRULY loved, missing her family, having to pretend to be someone she isn’t as well?

The twins? Dead. Established that.

The ending, while not a clean “happily ever after!” Type of ending, still makes it obvious to anyone paying attention that you are better off following your heart.

Sure, we could pick apart “well Mary should have just left with Stack to begin with!” “Sam should have just left to do his own thing at the start!” But… then we wouldn’t have had the movie. We wouldn’t have had these complex characters. We wouldn’t have seen folks make bad decisions yet still in different ways manage to overcome the bad shit.

I feel like, for once, everything happened as it was meant to.

Even Grace hollerin for the vamps to come in, is in line with HER character. When Stack died she ain’t wanna stay, she wanted to dip. She was working at the “whites” store. She doesn’t feel the connection to these people like her husband does. Her welcoming the vamps was bc she didn’t value the folks around her like her husband might have. Smoke lost his brother. They’d all lost pretty much everyone at that point. AND YET, because Grace didn’t have as deep of a connection as her husband to the people, she prioritized her revenge over their LIVES.

Basically: it was an AMAZING movie. There was so much that went into it, into the characters, into the story. Everything felt intentional, everything had MORE to it than what you might have first thought on a surface level. The movie was a genuine work of art, and so much love went into everything.

If you’ve already seen it, but perhaps you were wrapped up in the moment and a lot of this seems new, didn’t occur to you, etc, I definitely encourage you to see it again if you’re able. Even if you still disagree… if you genuinely enjoyed the movie, ain’t any harm in enjoying it again and supporting the creators & actors!

okay, so I know I've heard some ppl say that JJ not being all in Kiara's space isn't believable. Though I do think that makes sense on surface level, because yes JJ has always been known to lack personal space, I have some arguments about it....

1) JJ has changed a lot from the character he was in s1. S1 JJ was very flirty, had not seen a lot less death, and didn't take a lot of things seriously. S1 JJ also never considered to have a shot with Kiara, ever, so his actions were not often thought through. He's not very comparable to s4 JJ.

2) JJ shows affection through hugs and like shoulder squeezes, but mostly through JB and Pope. He did hug Kiara on occasion, but when he did it was normally when he was hugging everyone or he was going through an emotional time and Kiara was comforting him. We have yet to see JJ go through anything emotional where Kiara could comfort him. When they almost died they were in serious pain and dying, and clearly didn't like to show affection with an audience (in the chamber pod). Which brings me to my next point.

3) Showing affection publicly is not for everyone, and every scene we have seen with jiara is them in public or with the pogues. Going from friends to lovers, especially while the rest of your friend group remains, makes changing your pda dynamic a little strange. Like I cannot imagine kissing my once best friend, now boyfriend, in front of a my other best friends. They'd tease and make fun, and it's just oddly embarrassing. The one time we see them be affectionate in public, the pogues literally make fun of them and it makes them stop kissing. I'm sure it just became habit to only be affectionate behind closed doors.

4) Kiara has never been a touchy feely character, and JJ has always respected that. We saw on multiple occasions through Pope that she did not want to be touched when she was going through stuff, and she often just never hugs ppl or gets up in their space unless there's a reason (like celebrating or comforting). I think JJ would naturally know not to cross boundaries that she had always had up, but also it's again, probably a habit not to. Even in the scene when she puts her hand on JJs shoulder, he looks at her like it's not normal for her to touch him like that. She does tap him a little, but if Kiara was a normally touchy feely character a pat on the shoulder would feel like a comfort little pat. Someone's who's love language is physical touch, would do that just because. someone's who's love language is NOT physical touch would never do that unless they were scared or sad, needing comfort. (my last love language is physical touch so I know from experience). JJ looks at her and then immediately sees the fear and sadness in her eyes, because the fact that she's showing any kind of physical touch was odd to him. Like it got his attention just because she touched him. That shows me, she doesn't often show physical affection unless she's in the right mood or is initiating it herself. JJ clearly just respects that part of her.

5) JJ went through a lot to finally admit to Kie that he loved her back, and a lot of it is JJ not thinking he's good enough. Just because he admitted his feelings, I still don't think that meant he suddenly got past all his insecurities and now just think he's worth it. I think we see Kie initiate most of their physical interactions also because JJ doesn't feel like he can, or should. He's still struggling with feeling worthy of kissing her or holding her hand, because he doesn't think he is. However, he does love her, and he knows she loves him, so really I think it's just Kiara being patient and reminding him constantly that he deserves to be loved too. I also think this next part of s4 will show us a lot of JJ overcoming his feeling that he's not worthy of love, considering he now knows the man who raised him was never even his father to begin with.

6) OBX has NEVER been a show to show a lot of pda. Jarah are the exception (bc they are THE couple for the show, the endgame no matter what), and even then we've seem them make-out very few times. Like. It's actually crazy how little kissing we've got from them considering it's JARAH. S4 did not give us a lot of content (in the phsyical realm) from any of the couples, actually, and I'm not that mad about it. The show has never been about that. It's always been about their relationship, how they care for each other. It's not a show that waste screen time on having the viewers watch some steamy scenes. The show is literally about friendship and treaure hunting lol

7) My final point... it has been almost 2 years since s3. Jiara has been together for almost 2 years. Most couples that are together for 2 years, have moved past the honeymoon stage by now. The excitement of new love has faded. JJs need to probably be in her bubble and constantly kiss her and constantly touch her, if that phase ever happened, has probably past and now has changed into a more just comfortable with each other stage. They're happy with each other, they're happy to just be around each other. 2 year mark for a relationship actually usually leaves couples with having to open up more emotionally, having to be vulnerable with each other, discuss their future like Jarah was demonstrating. And, considering what's going on with JJ, o wouldn't be surprised if that would be coming pretty soon.

Jason's lazarus green eyes glow whenever he feels a really strong emotion. So not only when he's extremely upset but when he's super happy or laughing so hard... they glow too

He doesn't like to run out of soap so he stocks up like 5 extra bottles of really nice scented expensive body wash in all his safehouses. Not being clean reminds him of when he was in the streets or digging out of his grave

Jason's mom taught him how to cut his own hair because they couldn't afford to go to the hairdresser... I like to think that he helps Dick cut his hair when it gets too long.. but then over time, Tim and Damian decided they want in on that too

Out of everyone, he's the most direct when he wants to spend time with Bruce. Bruce is so dense that he really doesn't know ppl want to spend time with him unless they tell him. So Jason would often march in with tickets or a pamphlet or whatever and say "We're going. 3pm". Bruce is more than happy to drop whatever he's doing because JASON!! is spending!! time with him!!!!

Since Jason, Duke and Stephanie are the only ones who really grew up in like Gotham Gotham, they hang out as a trio sometimes and talk shit HAHA sometimes Jason gets into arguments with the bats about what he does in Gotham... Duke and Stephanie are the only ones who really get it. They know how brutal the city is and how hard it is to survive because they, themselves, went through that. So while they don't kill, they /get it/.

SO TRUE CHESS!!! aaaugh the progression of his character is so so good. From the beginning he was always the "strike first , think later" kind of guy which contrasts Polites' try to be as peaceful as possible and Odysseus "plan at least 500 contingencies and lie your way out of everything " approach. Eurylochus has always been a man of the ppl first and foremost, he's a warrior, it makes sense. He's not afraid to contradict Odysseus as his second in command. But deep down he's also a very ... anxious? person. and after Polites and a couple of their men died to Polyphemus he became more careful, more withdrawn, more terrified of the consequences. He started to "run away" more, he doesn't want to see Odysseus hurt, he trusts him but in Luck Rus Out its not that he lacks trust in him but hes filled with worry, what if something bad happens, what can he do if he loses him? He doesn't know what to do with himself if he loses his Captain, his Ody, "the brother I can never do without"

and Odysseus who became restless doesn't know how to respond to it. He wants to convince Eurylochus and the crew that his plans should always be followed and are free of flaws, he can keep them safe. Eurylochus whos being both pessimistic and realistic after their huge loss from the cyclops doesn't believe this entirely but at the end he also realizes the position he put Ody in so he shuts up and doesn't bring up his concerns again...

Until Circe!! start of the circe saga, Eury immediately goes to Odysseus *privately* to confess abt the wind bag but Odysseus was like nah Eury later. and thenn like the whole men into pigs happen and this is probably like one of the most stand out parts of Eurys character to me, again it emphasizes his "cowardice". He was too suspicious to go inside of Circe's palace, he stayed behind. He went back to Odysseus when things went south and suggest they leave the crew. Odysseus tells him that he wouldn't have left Eury, which fills Eury with both guilt and conflicting emotions.

He wanted to "cut their losses and run", so afraid of losing more against an unknown threat, that he fails to realize that Odysseus is a man of pride. Yeah, he probably would have went back for Eury. Eury would *definitely* have gone back for Odysseus, he just didnt think that a small amount of the crew was worth it especially after losing so many ships to Poseidon , literally more than half of their men gone.

AND THIS ASK IS GETTING RLLY LONG ALREADY but this is definitely whyy like hes so complex!!! he went to confess in Scylla that he opened the wind bag because he started to believe in Odysseus that he had it under control and that he wouldn't fault Eurylochus in the end, he started to worry less about the crew because he thought Odysseus would save each and every one of them, that none of them is expendable in his eyes. But then Odysseus betrayed that trust, didnt tell anyone abt Scylla, and even almost killed Eurylochus too by telling him to light up a torch. LIKE THATS CRAZY!!!

YES YOU UNDERSTAND. fundamentally eurylochus is a very anxious person, and what is interesting is that his misgivings about odysseus' commands come not from a place of defiance but genuine concern. that underlines most of his actions. from the beginning he's worried about the men, he's worried about odysseus. and that makes their relationship very compelling to me because it's clear there's as much care as there is distance between them. i think eurylochus trusted odysseus, but after the cyclops saga he began to doubt his captain's judgement.

in the circe saga, once again he's cautious, he doesn't go in the palace (which was for the best, in the end. if he was turned into a pig there'd be no one to tell odysseus about the situation) - and his argument with odysseus is very interesting as well. he's being very pragmatic by wanting to leave the scouts, though it's not exactly honourable, but you can tell a lot of it comes from worry again. he doesn't want to lose odysseus. he saw what circe can do. but i think a part of him internalized what odysseus said to him - because after the underworld saga there's a shift to his perspective

i think it marked the point where he began to trust odysseus' judgement again, that he began to believe odysseus did have their best interests in mind. and that's an interesting point you bring up, that it might something that motivates him to try to confess about the windbag again. all this just makes scylla way more tragic in my opinion. THAT IS CRAZY! the lead in from scylla to mutiny is incredibly heartbreaking to me. because at least in my view, eurylochus never wanted to be in that position. he didn't want to have to seize power. but for the sake of the crew he feels like it's his responsibility. and it leads them to their doom.

about strabo and vesta, I think something very interesting happens to them, because vesta has her own family issues (her father is a dick to her and her sisters, and their dynamic is very dysfunctional), but vesta HATES her father. she dislikes him so so so much, he made her and her sisters feel like trash. so vesta simply can't get why strabo cares so much about his father. when they meet, the man have already died, and strabo lives alone, so I think only later on their relationship she would discover about everything that happened. and still, I think that at first, he just told her his father died, and she felt bad for him. but slowly strabo would tell the most HORRIFYING things about his childhood. and vesta genuinely doesn't get it. honestly, she can't get it, she can't get him, specially because I think strabo defends his father with tooth and nails. so when she tries to tell him that his father sucked, and what he went through was abuse (because as someone outside of the situation, and someone with a father that's an asshole, vesta could see how bad his situation was), it always leads to arguments because he starts to DEFEND his father and it drives her insane that he CAN'T even admit that that man hurt him so much. they ended up stopping to talk about the subject in general because of how much it stresses them both, and she knows she won't be able to change him regarding this. I also think she tried to at least convince him to go after the twins, to try to reconnect, but I think strabo is way too proud to try to go back to talk to them after everything he did and said (even if it hurts him sm to just think about them)

(on the other hand, I think it would be an even more interesting situation if we go by a scenario where his father didn't die and stayed alive... because the twins would definitely cut contact, but strabo wouldn't, and it drives her completely crazy. she just worries so so so much about him because it doesn't matter how much he tries to go by this cold image, she knows he cares, she knows he gets hurt, and the worst is that she knows he will keep coming back bc in the end the trauma bonding was just way too strong)

oh my god, abt the unpopular opinions on the districts (also NOT THAT THEORY ☠️☠️☠️ thg fandom always on the crime scene with the worst takes known to men):

this is something more recent that started to annoy me more with sotr, but it drives me insane how ppl started to portray D12 tributes as some sort of "chosen ones" because now apparently snow has a beef with the whole district (as if D12 didn't have plenty of issues already in tbosas). ofc lucy gray is covey, and her culture is covey and not district, but nobody in the fandom takes that into account and UGH it really annoys me so much the takes that surround this;

there are some districts that are so so so obvious that SC doesn't know what to do with, like D9, D5 and D6, and I feel a bit bad for them (D9 in specific is struggling so bad because there's NOTHING we know abt this district, NOTHING);

I already mentioned before, but she's so biased towards D4 that I'm actually surprised we didn't get a prequel set on it (god please don't manifest this);

the career districts are fascinating, but SC simply seems like she doesn't know what to do with them at all sometimes, and to me it got even more clear in sotr;

the districts and panem are so so so interesting, but I feel like SC is simply not the best at worldbuilding and it shows. whenever she has the opportunity to go deeper into worldbuilding a district or panem, she simply throws it away (tbosas was very interesting bc it expanded the capitol, and brought new informations abt D2, but otherwise I feel like she kinda doesn't care much abt the worldbuilding). also, I know I'm not expecting a writer of a YA book to be a master in urbanism, but it bothers me the lack of cities and divisions inside the districts. D12 is valid because it's so tiny, it's 10k people, but there are others that are simply too hard for me to imagine how they would work in the same model.

abt the rec, omg grace I was lovinggggg the first book!! 🥺 I think i stopped around page 150 (I think after rin had a talk with the strategy master), but I paused it to read sotr and that book made me so annoyed and upset I have been struggling a bit to pick it back, but I promise I will because it was so interesting and well written!!! (I was having so much fun at the start bc the exam rin went through reminded me of the same one I had to go through to get into public uni, so 😔) I'm still at the start, but currently I LOVE kitay (my SON, he's such a cutie), i'm extremely curious about altan because everything surrounding him is such a mystery and so interesting (tho since he didn't appear much, I don't have really an opinion formed yet) and LOVEEEE RIN SO MUCH! Its kinda funny how ppl used the recent chapter to say it proves Sarada saved Boruto there and that we all made fun of her for nothing, when KK literally says in that timeline he saw she and Boruto BOTH were killed by Kawaki, so how does that prove her intervention saved him? KK literally says she tried to help him AND DIED

These are the same ppl who will tell you you lack reading comprehension, yet look at a panel where KK clearly says Sarada DIES when she tried to intervene and say 'See!? this proves she saved Boruto! we told you so!'

Like...how dumb can you be fr? this timeline proves what everyone was already saying, that she DID NOT SAVE HIM, infact, it was actually everyone that showed up AFTER she was about to be killed that saved him and changed his fate here, this vision literally proves that Sarada didn't do shit to change his fate, all she did was be killed right alongside Boruto if her dad and the others didn't arrive when they did.

But I shouldnt be surprised, till this day ppl still give Hinata praise for Minato's fail safe he placed a whole 15 years in advance, ppl still claim Hinata is the one who saved Naruto when it was infact Minato that did, because had Minato not have had that backup plan for this EXACT situation then Naruto would've let himself be consumed and died, taking who knows how many ppl with him.

Now their doing the same thing with Sarada, claiming her intervention is what saved Boruto's life, when it was actually everyone else arriving when they did that changed that fate, Sarada did absolutely nothing in that situation but make it go from bad to worse

But to be fair I'll be a little generous to Hinata tho, because she actually did at least TRY to do something to protect Naruto, she didn't just go there just to be in the way, she TRIED to fight Pain, she was just outmatched, she knew that and still tried to take him on and fight him back even if only for a few seconds

Sarada did nothing but bluff, for ppl who talk about 'love' makes one act irrational and thats why her running there to help Boruto is proof that her feelings for Boruto are more genuine than Sumire's who stayed behind but they conveniently forget the other part of that

Love doesnt just make you irrational, it gives you courage and strength, the desire to protect someone precious to you is when you become truly strong, remember that? because we saw it with Hinata, Sakura, Naruto, Sasuke, know who we ain't see it with? Sarada, because she went there blew one fireball and then froze up TWICE when Boruto was about to die, which adds up with KK saying she was going to die there, not very hard to believe when she just stood there both times he tried to take their lives so yea, I can definitely see how that future came about.

So my point? love doesnt just make you irrational like these ppl try to simplify, its true it does make you irrational, but it also makes you brave, it makes you strong, it gives you the strength to act even in the most hopeless situation where you know there's no chance of success but you do it anyway, you TRY, succeed or fail you TRY and die trying if thats what it comes to, but the one thing you DONT do? is just stand there WAITING to die, thats the OPPOSITE of what love does.

Oh and I know the excuse 'well she was scared, this was intentional, its part of her development to realize shes weak and wanna get stronger' great argument, except that was already established in 69

We already established her recognizing her weakness, her frustration at it, her wanting to get stronger so that next time she WILL be there to protect Boruto, you'd think this would be set up for a big payoff in 78 where Boruto is in trouble again and this time Sarada's able to save him right? now we're gonna see her resolve right? this convo in 69 was setup for a big pay off here right? apparently fkin not cuz this is what we got

Ok lets be generous, it was the heat of the moment, she choked, but now shit just got real, Boruto's whole eye is sliced, she sees Kawaki is serious now, she saw Boruto get hurt because of her weakness when it came time to step up, she failed to protect Boruto AGAIN when he needed her

Now surely we'll get the payoff right? if she doesn't act now then she and Boruto will DIE, Boruto has already been badly hurt because of her weakness, surely NOW is where her resolve kicks in and she protects him for real right? nope

You really dont get goofier than this, Naruto and Sasuke had their coward moments too don't get me wrong, but the difference is THEY GOT OVER IT, they REFLECTED on their weakness and cowardice and resolved to be stronger in the future, but think about it, Sarada already reflected and resolved to be stronger and prepared in the future, so why when even the danm narrative itself set this moment up to be where Sarada shows her resolve to not be weak and protect Boruto like she wants to, why do we only see her freeze, waver, and crumble when she has the chance to act?

Because this isnt just a 78 isolated case, she does it in 79 and 80 as well

Hate to say it but its the truth, the girl lacks resolve, she talks big but when its time to back it up she folds like paper

She failed to be there for Boruto when Kawaki killed him because she didn't even know he was in danger, she was mad at herself and resolved to get stronger so that next time Boruto's in danger she'll be there to protect him

What does she do with every chance she has to do that?

She froze and cost Boruto his eye

She froze and almost let them both die

She stands there shakin Mitsuki yellin at him to listen to her instead of protecting Boruto

She falls to her knees crying after hearing Naruto was killed and completely ignores Mitsuki saying he's going to kill Boruto and going off to do just that

But surely after all of those fumbles she'll pick herself up and finally resolve to stop being weak and be there for her friend right? unfortunately not, instead we get this

Flat out confirmation that she wasnt so in shock that she didn't hear what Mitsuki said, she heard him clearly say he was going to kill Boruto and she just let him go off to do that, if Sasuke never showed up Sarada would still be sitting there crying while Boruto is being slaughtered by Mitsuki or whoever else found him.

While shes there whining and crying to her dad, Boruto is fending for himself against team 10, it doesn't matter that she managed to convince her dad to go save him, why wasn't SHE there trying to save him herself? WHY did it take Sasuke showing up for her to even move? WHY did it take Sumire telling her 'hey we're the only ones who can help Boruto right now' for Sarada to finally do something? which she didn't, she begged her DAD to do something while she stayed behind continuing to do nothing.

This is the exact same crap ppl give Sakura shit for with Naruto's promise, even tho he made the promise of his own volition, ppl dragged Sakura for putting the burden of bringing Sasuke back on Naruto instead of takin action herself.

Which leads me back to what I said about self reflection...so do you think after all of this Sarada reflected on her weakness and made moves to make sure she was never this weak and powerless again? to make sure this time she can protect Boruto with her own strength and not have to rely on her dad to resolve everything? feel even a tad bit of remorse for placing that type of burden on her dad? putting him in harms way just to protect her friend because SHES too weak to? surely she's gonna have her own version of this right?

Surely we were gonna see Sarada finally reflect and address her weakness and work to change it NOW right? after all of that? surely NOW right? nope

So yea trying to use that panel to say she saved Boruto there is laughable because it literally proves the opposite, in that timeline nobody else arrived to help them, so it was up to Sarada herself to protect Boruto and she failed, I dunno how anybody took this as a W for her, this is literally one of her biggest Ls and none of yall should be celebrating it.

SB Ruin DLC really went "hey guys, here's Bonnie's corpse, located in his very own bowling alley, with some environmental story telling as to what might've happened, have fun!" and ppl will continue to say Monty killed him

Monty only had claws sharp enough to cause real damage AFTER he was assigned as Bonnie's replacement, AFTER Bonnie was decommissioned, we know this from the base game - the whole thing abt Monty clawing the shit out of Bonnie to the point of being beyond repair and all makes no sense because he just. Had No Means To Do It

looking around Bonnie's body you can see a bowling ball cracked in HALF near his head, implying that was one of the things that possibly fucked him up (plus the crack on the wall directly in front)

the "green paint" around his chest area I've seen people say it's because of Monty also makes no fucking sense because. That's not. paint???? That's corrosion??? gunk and grime???? how the fuck would the paint even rub off on Bonnie like that???? they're solid metal with a coat of paint, the only way paint could've left any stain is if it was FRESH, otherwise it just. chips OFF??? it's not even properly green it's like, the same color as all the shit around him???

and then there's the motive, the fact that Monty was jealous of Freddy being the face of the company and got rid of Bonnie to be in the band also makes no real sense? Not because of the whole argument on how he had to aim for Bonnie specifically because getting rid of Freddy is TOO risky and all, THAT makes sense - but because his errant behavior is all about avoiding performing with the band

and reading Chica's and Roxy's errant behaviors also imply that these things they do aren't exactly glitches but things they actively want to do (Chica being quirky and eating garbage or other things she shouldn't, Roxy wanting to return to the one place ENTIRELY themed after her)

Monty just. skips performances. If he killed Bonnie for the chance to play in the main band, you'd think he'd be more enthusiastic about never missing a performance?

people also take the entire ride Cassie gets on that shows Monty's backstory at face value, using it to support both arguments about Monty being guilty or innocent, but like....... it's a fucking ride created by the company that covers up murders like it's the easiest shit in the world.......it isn't proof of anything? this is the story they put out for the public so that people don't ask too many questions about why Monty would replace Bonnie in the band

so with all of that into consideration, the most solid piece of evidence people have of Monty being the one who killed Bonnie is this, the fact that Bonnie was last seen entering Monty Golf

as of now, Monty feels more like a red herring rather than a proper culprit

I've seen people say that Monty could've moved Bonnie there after killing him in monty golf, but if that were the case, the broken bowling balls around him and the damage in the room wouldn't make any sense, unless you really think Monty would just spend a couple extra minutes SMASHING bowling balls on this guy's face for fun

let's assume for a moment that Monty DID move Bonnie from monty golf to bonnie bowling (using this very cool layered and labeled map from reddit!)

ITS SUPER FUCKING FAR AWAY, BOTH AREAS ARE ON ENTIRELY OPPOSITE SIDES AND LEVELS OF THE PIZZAPLEX? if you take Bonnie's last seen log as definite proof of Monty being responsible for his death, you have to explain how the fuck the guy carried a whole ass dead animatronic all the way back to bonnie bowling without being caught by any other security cameras nor any other bot - especially the daycare attendant, assuming this delivery mission happens at night cause it cant happen during daytime, obviously

I'm not saying Monty is entirely clean from being innocent, just that none of the info we have actually FULLY supports the idea of him being behind Bonnie's fate, it's flimsy at best and we know how confusing and chaotic the franchise can get with its writing

the fact that Bonnie's body is STILL THERE IN THAT SMALL LITTLE AREA means that staff never found him, because they would've had NO problem replacing him or patching him up if they did, they're good at that, they have entire machines and areas dedicated to it

whether he actually died there or not, it's definitely an area only staff members would've been allowed to be in - including other animatronics, bots and whatnot - there's just not enough info to point towards anyone's direction right now because we don't even know WHY he got wrecked so badly

I should have probably clarified that I meant "love" in a more queerplatonic sense, but yeah, what you described with Orlam seeing it as them having a sort of queerplatonic bond meanwhile Genzou essentially was leading him on(queerplatonically)+taking advantage of him as a source of support despite at the same time still being mean to him(probably partially also as a way of harmfully venting his emotions) is how I personally see what happened between them too!

As for why people often misinterpret them as exes, I think it mostly comes down to the unfortunately common phenomenon where people aren't aware of queerplatonic love and/or make any kind of strong bond between characters immediatelly romantic. Like dangggg two good friends(they were not infact good friends but thats besides the point right now for the sake of the argument) CANNOT platonically dance together on prom night huh

I've always felt like... obviously Orlam didn't fully understand himself growing up (well none of them did). and I do think he would have really strong feelings about ppl. though I think many of the feelings were different. which made it even harder. but he did want to be very close to and loved by those ppl he felt most strongly about. and he would form these incredibly strong attachments in his mind, to the point that his hopes would alter his reality a bit

genzou meanwhile was Going Through It, both in coming to terms with his blindness and sexuality and getting abandoned by his best friend he has feelings for. the only one who reached out during that time was Orlam. who in Genzou's mind was taking advantage of his disability but Genzou was so starved for compassion he went along with it, letting Orlam get way too close and exacerbating Orlam's hopes that something would be possible between them...

never mind the fact that both of them just kinda knew the other one was queer even though they never said it out loud and thought they were the only ones, increasing their isolation...

and then all of that ofc building up to after prom...

and all of that disaster

iirc, he was accused of claiming to have another disorder, but then backtracking or smth like that? i don't remember the details, but i just keep thinking, maybe he was just misdiagnosing himself or whatnot, there's no way of knowing unless he straight up admits to faking (which i don't remember if he ever did, you probably have a receipt somewhere)

i think there is no way of "catching" anyone on lying about their disorders unless they admit to it, especially with DID, which is tied to amnesia and disassociation so heavily. and salem has got enough bs behind his belt, there's no need to fakeclaim him to criticize him.

TL;DR: focusing on refuting salem's disorders will only harm other ppl with that disorder, unless he himself says it's fake, there's no other way for us to tell 🤷‍♂️

i have answered this before, and i do apprecaite the input. but most of the reason, why it is brought up here, is because salem has a long, long LONG, history of faking disorders he does not have, to escape culpability. and the fact, he went from claiming he developed DID rapidly in 2021, to claiming in 2024 almost all 5-6 of his alters fused with him. is just simply a stretch.

First of all, you keep pointing out how witch/boiling isles society is so violent and so bad to their children as if humans arent the same?? Would you srs tell me that human society isnt awful to kids and that they arent also mistreated, not just individually but societally? Anything that happens in the demon realm, the human one also does in some way and neither is worse than the other. Belos himself straight up comes from a violent human group that used to hang women based on supersticions and nowadays, things arent that much better. I wont give any examples of irl events but it shouldnt be hard for you to think of some. The BI has its awful ppl and bad societal tendencies, humans do too so any argument that smh they are worse than us is just extremely laughable.

Second of all, we were literally shown that Belos was part of the reason why current BI society has issues. Society was more peaceful in Elsewhere and Elswhen and another very easy example is the scene in "Thems the breaks" where Terra, violent witch hired by Belos and put in the highest position, goes against child safety laws that Bump, another witch, brings up. Almost as if Belos, the bigot, purposefully used the worst of witch society to oppress the rest and encourage violence as the standard that gives you high positions (and ofc there would be bad ppl in witch society, every society does, human included) Almost as if some of it is the influence of the violent HUMAN bigot and not the isles being like that inherently or since the begining.

And lastly, even if the isles had a complicated history of war and conflicts which they most likely did cause every society, human or not has had such things, an outsider going there and dishing out "justice" isnt right in any way esp when hes one of the reasons for militarizing and worsening things by being a dictator and spending 400 years colonizing them. Belos, who decided to do this shit cause he was marinating in religious fanaticism and falsely said that witches are going after humans simply cause his brother made a choice to leave with one. Yeah, I was reminded that a lot of Witch society's issues were brought around by Belos, but the fact they paint the Isles in the Savage Ages as some sort of perfect utopia feels disingenuous to me. Reminds me too much of those Avatar films where the blue Aliens are a near-perfect society who live on a planet where all their needs have been met and are spiritually connected to the planet, where we are then supposed to hate the Humans who have had to persevere in a vicious environment. But we're not here to talk about that!

My original talking point was about how the Isles become 'neutered' with time. At first, it's this hostile land of monsters, where the very environment is out to kill you. It rains acid! Furniture is alive and will eat people. It would make sense that Witch society would turn out hardy and a bit apathetic, but they ignore that. Later in the series, like you said, child protection laws get brought up. Why would this world have that? Bump didn't step in to stop Boscha's bullying due to it 'not being fatal'.

Instead, all the blame is placed on Belos. Belos is the source of almost all evil in the Isles. Him getting revealed to be a Human then just feels, to me at least, like taking the blame off of the Witches. It feels just a touch preachy to me. Witch society was this perfect utopia with no racism, or sexism, or homophobia or anything negative until that mean Human showed up.

See, why couldn't the show have focused on this? How a society was brainwashed into thinking these things are fine? They weren't perfect in the past, but Belos brought out the worst in all of them and made them think they needed to be this to survive or to appease the Titan or whatever. You know, cult stuff!

And I know, I shouldn't have used such harsh language or labelled them as a 'culture of killers' due to the examples we're given. No culture or people is 'evil', and genocide should never be a solution.

Au #13 (Nemesis threat)

this has been talke abt, maybe, but I'm tbh constantly thinking about it, so

-No TOA au, Leo returns earlier

-Hunter Calypso au, also, but as part of the curse

-bc, in case y'all forgot, Leo's cursed to never find his place amongst his peers?

-most importantly, no camp stay au, which means Nico doesn't stick around bc the whole thing always felt too rushed to me (I can and will expand on this)

-anyways, Leo returns a few days after the war, instead of months, maybe a week tops

-Nico stays for a short time, while he heals, but he's starting to remember why he left in the first place (ppl are to eager to brush this aside)

-since Leo returns earlier, ppl aren't as mad with him, but the whole hero shtick doesn't last long at all

-he starts hiding in the bunker, and is joined by Nico when he sees it happen on of the times.

-they have very oposing views on the other's experience at camp, and argue abt it a lot at first

-eventually, through spending time together to prove the other wrong, they realize they're both right

-Leo eventually makes a run for it, but so does Nico, and there was a moment where they were both staring at the other with their respective rucksacks, it was kind of funny

-and Leo was like "u know what, this might as well happen", and just kept doing his thing, and Nico snapped out of it and like followed him

-and they get in a whole argument about that, and eventually Leo tells him about Nemesis

-and then Nico invites him to go together, cause he like, recognizes where Leo's going through

-and Leo was like, wary abt it, bc Nico's his peer, technically, and he was already left behind once, you know? but he realizes Nico's not gonna give it up right now

-so off they went, and at first it was abt getting as far as possible, and surviving, you know?

-but then it devolved into a really weird sort of road-trip au? but with less roads, and all over the world, and with ocassional monster encounters

-and like, it was a whole thing of it that the others didn't go after them, because of other stuff that was going on, or something

-and even if they did, neither was gonna go back bc of how both were treated, so it would've been a whole confrontation thing

-anyways, valdangelo cross-country adventures

hahaha you’ve already read them both!! but sure :) i answered for “pecan pie” here, so i’ll just do prairie gothic for you if that’s ok (i actually dk if i told u the whole plot or not?)

basically prairie gothic (which i think i’ll title “batter my heart, three-person’d god” or maybe “thin places” idk) is my western au!! set sometime between 1900 and 1910 in the prairies, vaguely in canada because population density was lower there at the time than in the us. it follows father charlie tucker iii, a cajun catholic priest from louisiana (although i might review the cajun thing, idk if it adds much), as he settles into his new parish in the prairies. he left his previous parish & took up this remote one bc he was falling for another dude & needed to remove himself as far as possible from the temptation lol.

ultimately this is a romance bc i can’t write fuckall else so my other main character is malcolm reed, (former) soldier boy from london, who came to north america for the klondike gold rush but totally struck out & went into farming/ranching instead.

the story unfolds over three chapters (“the world,” “the flesh,” and “the devil”) in a kind of triptych, in which charlie has to come to terms with (or not! who knows!) his being homosexual & into malcolm (who is DEFINITELY into charlie & also onto the lies charlie tells himself). u can imagine that would be tough as a catholic priest. so it’s a very catholic guilt sort of tragic potentially doomed love story. the vibes are melancholic, reflective, southern gothic but in the prairies u feel me.

i’m starting to work on chapter 2 (i’m probably about 30% there on it) bc it’s the one i have planned out most securely, and then i’ll do chapters 1 & 3 after hopefully!! i have some scenes planned for both of them but i lack the connective tissue. and currently i think i’m struggling with being too heavy-handed with my internal monologues and symbolism etc. ppl keep telling me it’s fine but i don’t know 🫣

chapter 2 is gonna continue off from what u read to a long argument that ends in a kiss scene and then charlie having a very catholic panic over the kiss (and the fact that he kinda liked it…). very self-castigation vibes yk.

on sunday's arguments and intentions

i rabbit-holed down what sunday was trying to say and do in canon so here we have it (i love this man so much)

at first i thought that tb didn’t really address sunday’s points even if the cutscene line was meaningful. like yeah his method was wrong but were his beliefs incorrect ? with reddit and the reread i realized that i’ve been giving sunday too little credit - he wasn’t debating with tb. the convo wasn’t meant to arrive at the best answer - he went in to convince them to his views, with the end result of fighting them anyway. there was no way of convincing him out of it without defeating him in battle and showing him that his “paradise” failed. he was very committed to the ideal and plan, and truly believed it would bring happiness to all. it’s telling that his solution is one that appeals specifically to ppl who feel the most hopeless, most in need of dreams & escape - reflects on him and the kind of environment he grew up in.

the weak point of his argument isn’t his problem statement nor his desire for change - it’s that Order isn’t the right and only solution. but he believes in it, perhaps because he himself thinks there is no future, and remember that faith is strength. he is a psychic power user, so mental is half the battle to him. the talk show, the stage play, the “debate” - it was all to present a compelling case that would sway tb. so himeko and firefly did actually hit the weakness of his argument - his “paradise” isn’t a paradise (no free will) so it isn’t the right solution.

there was no need to talk about suffering, because everyone agrees. he too said that they share the same goals, but must fight because their ideas of paradise are different. he wanted a fair fight, because he believed his paradise was correct and would triumph. he believed that the “weak” - those without a future - would choose the dream, which would validate his paradise. he believed that reality was too hard to bear and could not be changed, so the only way out was a dream of eternal happiness, only without true free will. this was his “pessimism”.

oh, i see the conflict now. sunday believes that the free-will-less isn’t a problem because he is only guilding them in the dream, being more of a ghost than ruling over them - like if the bird never knew it was in a cage. but tb takes problem with the reality that it is still a cage and ppl are still his (the order’s) puppets. he probs didn’t explain this because tb wouldn’t accept it anyway. but we can see the quest description in the last of his 3-act play, how the “sovereign” repeatedly said he won’t be found, emphasizing his ghost-like existence as opposed to an actual ruler.

check out the mission description at the end of Act III

it’s clear he had a lot of faith that the dream would “save” penacony. tb’s answer made a lot more sense if we read the actual letter from mikhail - it tied in nicely with acheron’s words and also aven’s story. how life is full of suffering and people’s endings are predestined like the bird doomed to fall, like the weak meant for a tragic end - but people’s journey is their own to make, and only they can choose to escape or save themselves. sunday’s point had been “but what if the pain’s too much, wouldn’t it justify wanting to escape forever ?” and it did have merits with how many people chose to stay. that was why they had to fight - sunday after usurping dominicus which embodied the people’s wishes - and showed him that his paradise failed because people didn’t want it (push them to wake up). because they prefer reality in the end, sunday then realizes that he was the one indulging in a dream, and the Order was his own desire to escape and “save” everyone. since his paradise had failed, it is only right to fall and accept rebuke for what he had done. because ppl had left ena’s dream, it is now “you can only rely on yourself”.

he might have been led to believe that escape was the only way, but he had now seen the will of the people and moved on from the cage of his past. on a new journey, he will find his own way to create another paradise, because that has always been his goal - a place where people can live happily.

so yeah sunday was not playing around, he was in full persuasive-charismatic-leader mode and tb had to shoot him down or risk getting pulled in by his views. “if evil why so gentle” (tb) that’s why he’s dangerous, he can bring so many ppl under his banner. a natural leader who feels and has so much compassion for others, who genuinely wants to guide and help others, who would go above and beyond for that desire. ena’s dream might have been a bad solution fed to him by the cage, but it did show the strength of his commitment and what’s truly important to him. not power, not control, but the happiness he can give others. to that end, he had been quite the adversary.
