This is referring to the "Everything we know about Neige" post. I was just going to comment, but since it became quite big I decided to send here.

Seriously, the RSA boys throwing themselves in from of the NRC always gets to me, because they essentially sacrificed themselves to a unknown treat and I love how this shows the difference between the students on each school, and how RSA is always playing as a team instead of the each men for themselves style of NRC. And especially how that strength is the exact why RSA keeps winning against NRC in the intarscholastic spell drive tournament, and has done so for 99 consecutive years!

I love how around the beginning of the manga (also in the game, but I personally fell like the manga explanation was better) Crowley says how because the mirror's choice are always magicians with big potential, that also leads for a group of people who are somewhat arrogant and refuses to work together.

This is such a core part of the story, but I don't see a lot of talk around it, and personally, I think it's one of the biggest charms.

I do really enjoy how even by telling a story though the villans side, the writers were still able to showcase the very core Disney idea that the reason the heros win is because they are working together, opposite to the villains who ,for the most part, work alone and isolated. It also highlights the importance of dialog and conversation while ALSO showing how naive and self sacrifizing most of the heros are, with Neige and Chenya without think twice throwing themselves into the flowers to save the NRC boys.

I appreciate so much the dinamic of this two schools because by that we can see the strengths and weaknesses of BOTH sides.

It was definitely a really commendable moment for the RSA students, especially when Ruggie and Idia (in the same event) wanted to abandon their asses and save themselves 😭

I feel the common sentiment is to claim RSA’s wins against NRC are “undeserving” or impossible to believe when NRC has so many powerhouses, but it makes sense when you consider the philosophies of their students are so different. Neige and the dwarves performed a popular children’s song from the Shaftlands—a song which adults have nostalgia for and kids love, a song which encourages everyone to join in singing and dancing. Vil had a new song made, but the style won’t appeal to everyone and the lyrics are hard and brag about beating down a foe and winning. You won’t win the audience vote if your performance fails to emotionally connect with people.

RSA’s 99-year win streak in magift/spelldrive is no coincidence either. Their cooperation (which is emphasized in their school curriculum as well) allows them to pull victories, whereas NRC often falls apart due to in-fighting. Ace and Grim give an example at the beginning of Stage in Playful Land. Leona also states that their team last year started fighting before the game even started. It's a consistent pattern.

With the end-of-year tournament being a team composed of one member from each dorm (dorms which have strong rivalries and think they are better than the others), there’s bound to be even more issues that arise in a match. RSA wins not only because they have talented students that can work together well, but also because NRC quite literally tears itself apart from the inside out 💀

It's interesting when we think about how the Mirror of Darkness seems to select students that have great magic potential but are also very arrogant because of that same potential. And this also reflects in their morals as well; it's not uncommon to find NRC students willing to use underhanded methods to get their way (Jamil and Ruggie controlling NBC students to be meat shields, Leona in all of book 2, Jade suggesting they use booby traps to take down their Sledathon rivals, etc.), whereas none of the RSA students we've met so far appear to have morals that deviate from that of a typical nice yet naive "hero". NRC values self preservation, independence, and ambition, whereas RSA is far more self-sacrificing and caring for the entire group. It makes me wonder if RSA has a method of enrollment that minimizes the arrogance and underhandedness in its student population (or at least boasts humility or open-mindedness)? As far as we're aware, the students at RSA also have great magic potential... so what makes the students enrolled at NRC arrogant about it and the students at RSA not arrogant about it...?

I think what separates villains and heroes in Disney films is their dynamics with others. Villains often have henchmen or partners in crime, but the villains are definitely presented as the ones in charge while the others are subservient to them. Villains give commands and/or manipulate to get their way. There is a clear power dynamic, a leader and followers behind that leader’s ambitions. Heroes are willing to compromise, and you’ll seldom see heroes bossing around their friends or allies. If people help the hero, it’s typically of their own volition and not because they are ordered to. Sometimes they help because they are moved or inspired by the hero—but ultimately, their autonomy remains intact. The hero treats others as equals and not as a means to an end. Their kindness is a virtue that attracts others to them. It’s a “me against the world” vs an “us against the world” mentality.

use of assistive technologies to type

not first language

word salad - as in symptom of things like mania , schizophrenia , this is not simple word for misinformation

brain injuries

in general , any " different from normal " grasp on language - syntaxes , grammars , word retrievals , traits beyond spelling

of course , yes , non-native speakers can learn more natural fluency with time , some dyslexic people can use autocorrect or dictation to lower letter mistakes , and so on .

but these situations can not just change upon request , and most will not just recover later . someone with brain injury in language centres can not just spontaneously regrow these to fix mistakes , for example . 

differences which can change :

intentionally misspell words to mimic baby speech , speech impediments , etc

use of different fonts

use of characters from different languages as fonts - often also disrespectful and great confusion to speakers of those languages

use of colours in text

character substitutions in general - such as 3 for E

muscle memory can make these things feel more natural , easy even . and yes , understand there can be great emotional comfort in some of these . but there is choice and ability to simply not use these - certainly doubt these show up in school or work projects .

would argue , if intend for post to serve as information which all should see , then please avoid such quirks . not even quirk text first and plain text after : people who need that plain text might simply skip post entirely due to inaccessibility of start , never to know there was plain text , and never to learn that information .

Hey, sorry for bringing this up but I was wondering if you could give any advice on how to spot AI in fic or writing? It makes me feel weird to think I'm reading or enjoying fics on here and the content is AI generated :(

I'm not necessarily the one to be policing this but I'll do my best to help bc I understand how disheartening it is to think you're unintentionally consuming AI generated content when it doesn't align with your own morals. I'll do my best to be helpful, but if anyone has any other advice, please feel free to add on if you can!

I'll also preface these points by saying, I'm talking about using AI to write a fic. I'm not talking about AI to translate, I'm not talking about AI to generate a prompt, or any other ~innocent use of AI within this sort of space. I don't intentionally use it at all as a personal decision/dislike, but I can understand it's place and the fact that it can be unavoidable for certain things that there is no ~easy alternative to.

Imperfection! I don't want to sit here and say perfection in writing is anything to be alarmed by - people proof read their work, or have people who do so for them, to make sure it flows or reads as well as it can, and obviously no one wants to be putting out anything that isn't their very best - but if I see any sort of mistake in writing, I feel safe enough to assume it wasn't generated by AI. Spelling errors, grammar mistakes, this boy doesn't even know the difference between there, their, and they are sort of thing. Imperfections are human. Ramblings are human - does a sentence go on way too long (me)? Does it seem like the writer is running out of ways to avoid overuse of the same word and are getting a migraine from scrolling through power thesaurus (me)? All indicators of someone who doesn't know when to stop, and isn't interested in keeping things looking perfect, therefore most likely not AI. The same can also be said about imperfections in written speech. Stutters, hums (uhms, ah's, ehh's, uhh's etc), saying phrases that are incorrect (like "could care less" which should always be "couldn't care less" lmao) are all human, and would not be replicated in speech generated by AI.

Personality! I think it's impossible to write something without inserting a little bit of yourself into it, and often you can see a consistency between someone's personal posts, and their writing. I acknowledge I'm saying this as someone who signs every sentence off with lmao like it's a period, and then writes 81k word fics with excessive use of the oxford comma and that often read like unhinged ramblings, but what I'm saying is, you will see their personality in their writing. I'm admittedly and to a fault sarcastic, and a raging idiot, and the shit I say on here reflects that, but my writing, and the people I write specifically, reflect that, also, and do so in a way that shows there is a human being behind it. I've never read an AI text that isn't robotic, or monotone, or lifeless. It doesn't matter how many prompts you give it, or how many times you run it through the mill, it cannot manipulate the essence of a person. I also recognise that not everybody shitposts in the way I personally do, but if you can get a good read on a person through their blog, through posts they make otherwise, or tags they add, or asks they answer, you should be able to tell if their writing is their own.

Language! Similar to the above, is the language used throughout consistent with the kind of language that writer uses elsewhere. Is any of it unnecessarily formal? Does the fiction that you are reading, read like fiction, does it read like there is thought and intention behind every word as there would be behind something a real person wrote?

Emotion! Again, tying into the above few points, is there more to the story than just action? I see a lot of AI that is - this happens, this happens, this happens, speech, movement, telling and rarely showing. It's all very specific, and again, robotic. Shoutout katie @nol-pat bc we were just discussing examples and she brought up a valid point which is that there is never anything beyond the action of it all, because the bot isn't capable of the emotion or explanation that goes along with any of it. There is little thought, there is little feeling, there is little grit, if that makes sense? And sometimes, people write this way, but if they have the power to be writing a story, they usually have the power to add beyond the bare minimum of basic human movement. And in a similar vein, does what you are reading make YOU feel something? Beyond a description of flushed cheeks and heart hammering, can you really relate to what you are reading, to how the characters are reacting and responding to what is happening? Do you feel immersed in what you are reading, and do you feel that way throughout?

Consistency! Chances are if you are reading anything multi-chapter or that is a continuation of a previous work, it won't be AI generated. If there is a story you can follow through each chapter, if there are call-backs and references and repeated traits and characteristics, that make the story flow, there is someone putting a whole lot of pain-staking thought behind it. I think the same goes for generally longer fics. From what I've seen of AI in other works, the longer it is, the more likely it is to go off the beaten path. There will be inconsistencies later down the line in an AI fic because of the way it is set up - it usually takes more and more prompts to make it longer, and the more you instruct it to expand, the more it forgets what it originally gave you.

This last one I was hesitant to bring up because I see it all over, and I see people pointing the finger at it's use, and I don't generally agree that the EM-dash is the devil, but in looking at a few proven and assumed AI works while I've been thinking about this, I feel like it's something I want to raise for you to look into yourself, because it is very much something that keeps cropping up.

I'll preface what I'm about to say with I don't think the use of an em-dash necessarily an outright indicator, but bare with me on this whole thing, because there is something to say about its overuse.

-, a dash, is typed outright, and a part of most regular keyboards, certain writing tools will autocorrect this to a longer version, which is an EN-dash (e.g. I use pages, when I type a -, it will often elongate it to an – within the app. - vs –) when it is used to signify an "up to" or a "until" like you'd see on opening hours or something, but when works are copied into Tumblr, it will usually just revert to it's regular dash size. An EM-dash is a longer dash and the correct use of this would be to indicate a break/change in sentence structure —. So that is - vs —.

- which is a dash/hyphen (eg. book-end, co-worker, etc.)

– which is an EN-dash (eg. 9am – 5pm, pages 4 – 5, etc.)

— which is an EM-dash (I'll use an example from merriam-webster here, because as I will go onto say, I would usually just use a regular dash “That is—I suppose it is concerning.”)

If you type in a DOUBLE hyphen into most tools, it will correct to an EM-dash, and I don't know if it's the tool I'm using, but when I have then copied this into Tumblr, or written straight into Tumblr if you're the kind of live-life-on-the-edge maniac insane enough to rely on doing that, it usually ends up coming out as a double hyphen (--, so that's -- vs —). Again, I'm not saying em-dashes are a certain indicator, but something to consider if the rest of the text seems off. There's a lot of research and debate around this, but in my personal experience, as a creative writer, as a reader, as a general enjoyer of fiction, when I see an EM-dash outside of a corporate email or an essay, it feels generally misplaced, and you'll notice it replacing commas, colons, semi-colons, etc and you will be able to see what I mean for yourself. I (again, PERSONALLY) have always just written a hyphen, never even a double that would auto-correct, which is why it's shifty to ME. An em-dash, despite it's definition and it's place in grammar and punctuation as a whole, reads more like a personal or professional function, and not something I would see or use in creative writing. I'll attach some reading on this, I've tried to find anything not behind a paywall, and a few different opinions on the matter. (1) (2) (3) (4)

Something I will say to look out for specifically when it comes to the EM-dash, is how it is being used. If you think it's being used to cover up where a human imperfection may be, especially in speech, like a stutter, or a pause to think, or fillers like "uhh" or "erm" you have your answer.

Overall, AI is a complex and ever-evolving beast, and it's borderline impossible at the end of the day to ever know for sure, but I can tell you as someone who has been on this site a long time, there are a lot more creatives on here than there are those who are fraudulently posting AI works as their own. Sometimes it can feel like a plague, and sometimes the tags are riddled, but if you're ever unsure, ask around. People will direct you to fics that made them feel something - fics that made them laugh or cry or think, and you'll find the authentic writers behind them 💕

All we can do as a community here is continue to push for authenticity and honesty - and encourage people to post their own works, no matter how rough they believe them to be. I'll make more of an effort to reblog fics I love if it helps, and celebrate the thriving creativity that still remains in this space.

I've said it a million times by now, I'd rather sit here and read bullet pointed thoughts/fragments of a story than the same regurgitated nonsense I keep seeing people paste from chatgpt.

Also, the obvious would be running it through an AI detector, although this can be subject to error as with everything else, my above points are kind of to make you think without having to copy and paste fics into the below, but they're always useful too!!

Chosen Name: Cameo ('Deadname' Defect)

Age: Uknown

Gender: Male

sexuality: Homosexual

Current occupation: Founder of the hidden city, Head of "the council", inventor, (formerly) kraang rebel

personality summary: Cameo is an eccentric but self-centred kraang. What he lacks in raw strength, he makes up for in sheer intelligence. He has the most innovative but dangerous mind amongst all the kraang. He is known to be highly manipulative, often nudging others in the wrong direction- for his own selfish gain. He's petty, vain, cruel, the list could go on.

Pre-rebellion

The kraang reproduce through various methods, making them a highly invasive species once fully settled onto a planet. The Biomass that often clings to and terraforms its surrounding environment- is capable of forming "egg sacks", if given the right conditions.

This is a common form of asexual reproduction (aside from thee brood mother) that the kraang practice.

When a baby krang bursts from its sack- the newborn's flesh remains tender & pale, before eventually shifting (x).

However, when Cameo emerged, his flesh- never matured, even as he grew.

During a kraang's "rookie stage" (their races equivalent to adolescence years) They will experience many physical & behavioural changes, but one specific change the kraang look out for, is their "mutations".

the "mutations" are essentially a kraang's special abilities.

to shifting parts of their anatomy or creating a biomass- these abilities are a signal towards higher ranking kraang that their young is ready for more intensive training. if a rookie shows no signs of mutating, they will be killed off.

Cameo was lucky to avoid this brutal fate despite his defects.

Even back then, he was beyond intelligent and took an interest in forging weaponry. Somehow, this talent of his- saved him from certain death. Yet it didn't save him from the kraangs cruelty. The risk of death still loomed over him.

Throughout his entire life, Cameo would be abused- even after proving that he was useful, he would still be subjected to an onslaught of neverending abuse.

His method of survival was manipulation. If Cameo couldn't fight his way out of a situation like most kraang did, then Cameo would 'talk' his way out of it.

needless to say, Cameo grew to hate his fellow kraang. he had no sense of comradery and wouldn't hesitate to backstab them. There was only one person he could look out for.... himself.

Cameo is genuinely confident in his skills. no amount of abuse could ever change the defects mind- he was the best.

Portals, technodromes, Battle mechs, weaponry, etc

his inventions- his work- would be used in conquest. Cameo had been playing a major part in the empire for centuries. However, the kraang were foolish and could not see it- to them, Cameo was just a disposable defect first and an amazing inventor second.

Utrom's betrayal/rebellion

Cameo knew Utrom back in his rookie days. He was cruel and callous but had a strong sense of comradery, just like any other kraang he knew. Utrom however, was his main tormentor during his early days.

so Cameo was genuinely surprised to hear word of his betrayal. The defect never thought Utrom had it in him. Treachery was something unheard of within their empire.

In Typical Cameo fashion, he saw Utrom's betrayal as a window of opportunity. Thus, aided the traitor with his rebellion (coming in with an agenda of his own)

Cameo is the true creator of the Key.

He had 'helped' The mystic warriors & Utrom conjure up the plan if they were to lose the battle- however little did they know, Cameo had plans on using the Key regardless of the outcome. Cameo always had a knack for pulling strings... planting idea's into people's heads..

Cameo KNEW that the battle would be one-sided, even with his aid. He designed the key in a very special way that would allow the defect to mull over his options, preparing himself for nearly any outcome.

He hated the kraang but he knew- more than any other being in the galaxy, how they think and how they function. he knew that when the key was unleashed, that the sealed kraang would tear each other apart- desperate to snuff out any other rebels sealed alongside them.

What Cameo didn't consider, were the few remaining rebels lucky enough to avoid getting sealed away. Utrom- being one of them. (much to Cameo's disdain)

This didn't deter him. He knew how to roll with the punches. To cameo, it was simply the start of a new chapter.

post rebellion

Cameo adjusted to life on earth easier than any other kraang rebel. Humans were far easier to manipulate. He had power over them and it felt great.

He took pleasure in sparking discourse amongst them, even causing full-on wars. All he had to do- was to give them a simple nudge. perhaps gifting them kraang armour, or something "mystical", whatever it may be but something was missing

The Kraang rebels had indirectly affected Earth in many ways- some more drastic than others. Cameo would spend his time studying these changes. Sometimes intentionally playing a part in it. The planet itself already had strange properties- but when exposed to empyrean- only seemed to amplify the planet's properties.

now "empyrean", is the essences of kraang. their tech and bodies have empyrean within it. It is what they used to terraform planets to their liking.

If a creature is exposed to pure empyrean the results are unpredictable. This was how the Yokai emerged. To Cameo- the yokai were guideless creatures with no sense of direction, hiding away in fear of people. what He saw, was an opportunity.

Cameo offered the yokai a safe haven, A place hidden from humanity where they can 'truly' express themselves as long they stuck to his rules. for the next couple of centuries, he'd retain control over the yokai- creating a false identity called "the council of heads", allowing the people of the hidden city to live a lie.

present day

Cameo had been around for centuries and had met plenty of yokai like Baron. they were always a means to an end, a minor misstep along the way but for a brief moment, Cameo underestimated his opponent- eventually leading to the mass mutant that plagued NYC.

what he didn't suspect, were the turtles. ever since those ragtag teenagers accidentally unleashed Baron's Oozesquitoes to NYC, Cameo had been watching them from the shadows. He studied them and their ties to Baron, finding their misadventures quite amusing.

Along the way, He eventually hired Hugin & Munin due to their previous ties to Baron (also because he couldn't resist how pathetic they were). Now- Cameo debates on making his move. if the turtles can handle a kraang invasion, who knows what else they could handle. The defect is excited to find out.

Triva

Current voice claim is Jacob Tobia (their role as Double trouble)

Cameo's defects affect him in many ways. Back in the empire, he would wear special gear to protect himself both in and out of his mech suit but nowadays?? he has a special skincare routine to keep himself protected

Cameo still continues to make Kraang weaponry. it's his way of passing the time and relaxing. He prefers doing it when cloaked however since thumbs can come in handy

He dotes on Hugin and Munin, spoiling them like two purse dogs- in return, the Duo follow his very command.

Cameo and Big Mama are good friends :) sometimes he'll call himself 'Lil' Papa' as an inside joke. they both openly joke/talk about backstabbing each other and wouldn't hold it against them if they did. Their friendship is unique to say the least

Baron does not know that Cameo is "the council of heads" nor does the general public know. Think of it as the Wizard of Oz situation.

He is also the inventor of cloaking brooches but- many yokai have taken it and improved upon his invention across the centuries.

While Cameo prefers to cloak, he isn't ashamed of his true form- and will even uncloak post-Rottmnt-movie. He is often mistaken for a yokai rather than a kraang.

15. favorite weather for writing

oooh this is interesting! idk if i've ever thought about it before but i suppose when it's overcast/raining??? bc then i feel like i can write to my heart's content without feeling like i have to leave the house lol

16. talk about your writing and editing process

okay so usually i tend to edit in 5k stints (unless it's a short fic, in which case i'll just write the whole thing first) so every 5k or so i'll stop and reread/edit what i have so far. i pretty much always reread 3 times: once to see the general vibe of what i have/catch obvious mistakes, once to make proper changes, and then once to double check spelling/grammar errors etc after making said changes. and then i'll reread the whole thing in full once (but maybe twice) before posting.

i also always write in chronological order but i don't like making outlines/plans so i'm very much a 'follow the vibe' writer in that sense askdjfh

Breaking up with Natalia feels…anticlimactic.

When he’d wanted to break up with Taylor he’d drawn it out for weeks. Months, if he’s being honest. Because he was afraid to be alone. Because a silent, selfish part of him was hoping she’d do the hard part for him. Because she was supposed to be it.

Even though it was glaringly obvious that she wasn’t.

When they ended he told himself he wasn’t going to rush again. He didn’t want to make the same mistakes. Didn’t want to pick the wrong couch again.

But then Natalia had looked at him with so much fascination. She took on all his shit, all his trauma, and she didn’t flinch. If anything, it seemed to make her like him more.

The problem is that it seemed to be the only thing she liked.

And it’s probably not a fair assessment of her because she really is nice and beautiful and smart but the more time they spend together, the more he feels like she doesn’t really like him. She likes the version of him she’s put together in her head. The version he’d let her create in all those early conversations.

I feel like she sees me.

He told Eddie that after his first date with her.

It’s embarrassing to think about that now, with the slightly awkward but still civil breakup conversation replaying in his head.

He thinks it’s that, that might be throwing him for a loop so much – that she hadn’t seemed to mind when he explained he didn’t think things were working out. She was a little disappointed but she didn’t try to fight him on it; he supposes she’s used to dealing with endings in her line of work.

And now he’s wondering how he could’ve let himself get sucked in again, how he could’ve convinced himself all over again that he’d found the one by falling too hard, too fast.

Eddie says, “What’s the point in dating if you don’t think that you might end up together in the long run?” when Buck brings it up over dinner at his place after the Chris dating intervention.

Buck throws his balled up napkin at him and says, “Sorry, I forgot I was asking the nester.”

Eddie rolls his eyes but doesn’t bite back, reaching for another slice of pizza. “I’m just saying. Isn’t the whole idea that you date someone in the hopes that they’ll be the person you spend the rest of your life with?”

“Is that what you think about Marisol?”

Eddie immediately makes a face and Buck feels privately vindicated.

He shouldn’t; it’s not fair. Marisol is nice and Buck has no reason to dislike her but the ghost of Ana Flores still lingers in the back of his mind.

“It’s a little early for me to know that,” Eddie says.

Buck scoffs. “But you just said-“

“I’m not saying I don’t see a future with her,” Eddie cuts in. “Just that I don’t know what that future is yet.”

The words make something sour twist in Buck’s chest and he takes a swig of his beer to dispel it. He’s happy for Eddie, happy that he’s putting himself back out there because he deserves to fall in love again. There’s just…a part of him that doesn’t like it when Eddie’s in a relationship.

Which is incredibly fucking stupid and possessive and something Buck would go to his grave with before he’d ever admit it out loud.

He just feels like they drift apart when they’re not single – not even because they don’t see each other all the time. It’s more like they don’t know how to interact with each other. He doesn’t know why or, well, it’s not exactly a thread he likes to pull on all that often.

It hasn’t happened much yet with Marisol but she and Eddie seem to be taking things slow.

Buck counts it as a small miracle and redirects the conversation to the point he’d first been trying to make.

“I just don’t know how I got it so wrong again,” he says. “With Natalia, I mean.”

Eddie’s expression immediately softens and he leans forward, propping his forearm on the dining table and pulling himself closer to Buck.

“You didn’t do anything wrong,” Eddie tells him, as gentle as every other reprieve he’s ever offered Buck.

Yeah, I know you did.

I knew you wouldn’t.

You’re the guy who likes to fix things.

You don’t have to be anything for anybody.

You didn’t end up like you.

“You thought she saw a side to you no one else did,” he says now. “And you wanted to believe in that.”

Buck groans, burying his face in his hands. “Don’t remind me,” he mutters. Dropping his hands, he slumps back in his chair. “I don’t know why I thought her being excited by my near death experience meant something different. Of course it was interesting to her; she wasn’t there when it happened.”

She wasn’t the one sitting vigil at his hospital bedside. She wasn’t the one begging for him to wake up.

He thinks at the time it felt good because she was the only one not treating him with kid gloves. He can recognise now his family probably had a pretty good reason for treating him that way.

Eddie doesn’t respond right away but Buck can tell he’s thinking of an answer, choosing his words carefully

You love listening to him singing. While he's cooking, or working, doing a chore, whatever. Sometimes he's not even aware of that he's singing. (Vocal stimming maybe???)

He likes tea, herbal tea's spesifically. He always makes you one too when he's preparing to himself even though you didn't ask for it.

They're a little jealous, they won't be jealous of your friends and such of course, but he won't appreciate it if someone else flirting with you or being too close. But nah, they're jealous but not that much.

You have to go to places that they're banned from to bring materials they need. They never told you why they're banned from those places tho.

He tries to keep you away from Dimitri, they don't want you to get hurt or be in trouble because of something it'll do to you. (*İnsert burning house flashbacks*) But i think Dimitri probably has more common sense than they had a few years ago. So they're not a potential threat to you.

Hey lovely! I've been a bit overwhelmed with The HorrorsTM of late, but I'm surviving! Finally getting a bit of writing in (yay, deadlines for the Rarepair Exchange approaching, kicking my ass into gear), and catching up on my inbox! Sorry it's taken so long. I do love getting these asks though.

Writer Asks:

15. Which fic of your would you most like to rewrite?

An interesting question. TBH, none, really. I regularly go over certain fics and edit when I find spelling or grammar mistakes, but to completely rewrite them? I don't think I want to. Not that I think they're all perfect, they certainly aren't! But they're a map of my journey as a fanfic writer, as a new-into-fandom fan, and new into embracing my geeky, silly, inner child that's in need of reparenting and validating. They're all reflections of where I was in that time of life when I wrote them, and I'm not ashamed of any of it. It's all just part of me, for better or worse.

18. What trope have you not written yet, but want to?

I think a big, obvious one I need to lean into is a canon-divergent one. I love writing stories that you can read and go, "okay, none of that is proven wrong by canon!" And I think that came from writing such a small, judged rarepair not liked by most of fandom, that it's been my armour to validate my ship. But I think I'm ready to start having some fun with canon divergence and AUs etc when I find the freaking time. I'd particularly love to do a canon-divergence story of my Hera Syndulla/Jyn Erso fic, A Mouthful of Jyn, where Hera manages to rescue Jyn and Cassian before the Death Star fires on Scarif. The good ol' 'if they got there five minutes earlier' kind of thing.

36. Have you ever written a fic because you were inspired by a song?

Stares at fic list, racking my brain. I think the only fic that a song kind of inspired was Howl. It was written to a prompt (Waking/Dawn), and with all the wolf references for Shin's namesake, Florence and the Machine's song of the same title infiltrated my brain again. The image of Shin howling at the moon in the agony/emotional turmoil of being abandoned by Baylan and stranded on a planet in another galaxy became glued in my brain and I had to get it out.

She's My Comfort, my current Herasoka WIP, was also kind of inspired by Mary Lambert's "She Keeps Me Warm", which is probably why I focus so much on Ahsoka's warmth throughout it. I love the song so much, but it was my first dance song at my wedding (divorced now), and I really wanted the song to reclaim its place back in my heart. And who better to do that with, than the wonderful Hera Syndulla and my beloved Ahsoka Tano?
