HEE HEE HEE....HAHAHAHAHAHA I've got plenty (Some of these apply to my Logan too) ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ 1. Due to his time under Weapon X, Logan still contains some robotic mannerisms, especially when scanning for nearby threats. I like to imagine his face becoming stiff and expressionless, while his head rotates like a wall mounted security camera; He does it unconsciously. 2. He likes to cuss people out in different languages under his breath. I mean, the man knows like what, 18? He'll find one that somebody doesn't know in case they hear him. I also envision him using his knowledge for different code words he'd teach his teammates to give them special commands, def stems from his military work. 3. Logan likes to listen to Oldies, and Rock/Metal. It's an...interesting blend. Depends on his mood, really. He doesn't mind a nice classical jazz to wind down after a long days of work o spending time with his partners, otherwise Metal has been a healthier way to vent out his frustrations. 4. Absolutely has some animalistic quirks. Like, he purrs when he's close to his partner. He growls, snarls, roars, the whole package. He shakes like a wet dog. He cocks his head to his shoulder when he's confused about something (also like a dog (I have a bias)). He absolutely runs on all 4s in battles/climbing. Yes, he bites, and not in the hickey way. If you ask him to bite your neck, he will take a chunk with him. 5. Despite being totally left brained, he knows how to do calligraphy for meditation (something he picked up more frequently from Kikyo). He can also be kinda poetic when he feels like it, his penmanship is surprisingly good and he can write in cursive when he's focused. He's not wrong when he says he's an art teacher!! 6. Logan's sense of humor can get really grotesque. This is most likely due to his desensitization towards violence, which unfortunately, freaks most people out. A chunk of his humor is usually derived at his own expense. 7. He's always known he's Bi, he just doesn't bother telling anyone about it unless they ask. Logan thinks in the grand scheme of things, saving the world from threats is more important than who he shares a room with. 8. I made a poll about this, but I believe Logan has some type of Neurodivergence (I have AUDHD lemme cook). He def struggles with PTSD from, well, a lot of things in his life. I also like to think he has some sort of ADHD? Not just for having hyperfixations for Japan, Military machinery/weapons, animals, etc., but also the mood swing aspect of it too; Maybe it's just me, but I find Logan's angry impulse kinda relatable to my experiences? Also how he frequently forgets things. Just like me fr.... 9. Logan's body is able to insulate himself from extremely cold weather, due to his Mutation being based off of a Wolverine. This...also makes him hot easily during the warmer months of the year, and he much prefers the cold. He'll ask storm for a little snow cloud over his head every once and awhile. 10. Being so old, Logan uses a wide variety of slang from all sorts of time periods, which he has to explain to his teammates a lot so it can get pretty annoying. This also extends to his game, his old time flirts can be kind of confusing to their meaning, therefor not landing too well most of the time. 11. Despite being a grouchy old man, he is an anxious sweetheart!! Logan will pour his heart out on the people he loves, but the anxiety comes with how almost all of his relationships historically end in either tragedy or in a horrific fallout, meaning he's rather hesitant to getting into a relationship right away.

uhhh hi, long time listener first time caller! where do you think da sinclair learned all the knowledge and skills necessary to design and build the reanimen? classes, textbooks, obsessively scouring niche sources at the library? did he ever get mentored by an older scientist or something?

i haven’t read the comics so sorry if this is explained in those, but I would love to hear your headcanons about young da sinclair!

thank you so much, listener! sorry this took so long. they don't explain hardly anything about him in the comics but that's where i come in

i do think his skills are largely self-taught and self-researched. he is absolutely a "scouring niche sources at the library" kind of guy. he loves libraries. he attended a few different schools over the years, both public and private, none of which were ever a good fit for his intelligence and standards (and behavioral issues). he was never really in one place long enough to join a robotics club or anything like that. not that he's much of a joiner

early on he was sort of mentored by his father, who was absolutely not a scientist but had a bit of mechanical knowledge and supported his ambition. father sinclair set up a little workspace for d.a. in the attic and would bring him scrap parts and thrifted electronics to work with. of course they would occasionally go to the garage and mess with The Car as well

otherwise there was a lot of solo experimentation. d.a. greatly enjoyed taking objects apart and putting them back together and seeing what connected to where. he'd offer to fix electronics or bicycles for other kids on the street (whether or not they were actually broken in the first place). i think he also liked building models - lots of tiny intricate pieces fitting together

tying into my headcanon that the sinclair parents owned a mortuary and d.a. practically grew up there: it was easy for him to become desensitized and perceive the human body, especially the dead one, as a "thing". he saw the interplay of flesh and machinery early on with things like the embalming machine or even the device used to wire the corpses' mouths shut.

he became obsessed with medical technology, in particular, around age 13 after having surgery for an aortic valve defect. he had a lot of time to read after that. he'd take home anatomy books, obsessively study and copy diagrams from them. he'd fill journals with notes and sketches of prosthetics and medical implants - some for saving lives, some just to improve efficiency, all a bit unconventional in design. always room for improvement

he eventually started submitting the better ones (along with impassioned essays) to scientific magazines. these weren't the same designs he'd end up using on the reanimen later, due to lack of resources, of course. but this is what started getting the attention of the sort of people who give out genius grants

he should have been properly mentored by someone, really, but he's not much of a listener either.

As for your question, I will begin with a general warning: This response will include discussions about MULTIPLE CHARACTER DEATHS. Please proceed with caution!

There are a lot of headcanons in the fandom in general about this one, but I think the most general response for this would be: how powerful a ghost is directly correlates to their death. So things like: How did they die? When did they die? Thoughts/emotions during their death, etc. This also ties into headcanons about cores and Obsessions and the like.

I'll use your example of Ember. A lot of people headcanon that she died in a house fire and that's why she has flaming hair. Most often I see the explanation that she had been home alone after being stood up by a crush when her house caught on fire and she perished within, forgotten. Hence why her popular song has her chanting "Remember". I actually have a similar but different rendition of this headcanon where she did indeed die in a house fire because her parents had been out on date night and- despite her mother's reminders- she forgot to turn off the oven and slept right through the alarm. And by the time she woke up, it was too late.

In this context, I would say because she was cognizant before her death, she had time to realize what was about to happen to her, which made her impression on ectoplasm much stronger, hence creator a stronger ghost.

This also ties into let's say... Box Ghost. For Box Ghost, I headcanon that he worked in a warehouse while he was alive. There's backstory to this idea too; his coworkers had been considering unionizing and going on strike because of the poor pay and dangerous working conditions. Boxy might have even gone with them... had he not been killed due to those very same working conditions.

His death is unexpected. He's crushed by heavy machinery and/or equipment. He has no time to rationalize what's going on, but his last thoughts are about living a better life, which helps create his ghost... But because there's no strong imprint, his ghost has a very basic rendition or memory of what his life used to be. He died holding a box, he remembers that the box is important to him. His ghost builds and grows of that basic impression. You get the idea.

There are also headcanons about natives of the Ghost Zone. Like Frostbite. Different people have different names for it, I usually use terms like ectoplasmic entities, since 'ghosts' typically imply they had lived at one point. Whereas these people had never been mortal, but are still living their own lives. Yeah, it's complicated. 😅

Dora's citizens, or the people of Mattingly, could be that entity type. I don't remember if it was ever confirmed if Dora and Aragorn were ghosts or not, since the show always insisted that ghosts were essentially aliens from another world (despite giving Desiree a backstory where she died??? They really did not try hard to convince us otherwise.). A Glitch in Time seems to imply that they were ghosts though, which could lend credit to another idea:

Where you live in the Ghost Zone can make you more powerful. I know I talk about Marsalias a lot, but they really do have wonderful worldbuilding for the GZ. I recommend their Kingdoms of Fish series to get an idea of some possibilities out there.

I myself wrote the Ghost Zone to have similarities to the ocean. In the Trench, the ectoplasm is thicker and more congealed, if you will, which means anything that lurks or lives there is typically more dangerous, because their bodies must be stronger/hardier to move through the thicker ectoplasm.

Maybe the kingdom of Mattingly lives in an area of the Zone that's more suited for dragons, but also means that its citizens either have to be stronger to keep up or! If you headcanon that ghosts have different core elements, then they aren't suited for the area but stay because they can't or don't want to leave. Which would make them weaker.

There's also concepts that the stronger ghosts absorb more ectoplasm, leaving only crumbs for others. Aragorn could be consuming more ectoplasm, or maybe the amulet is a natural magnet for it. This would keep his people subjugated and deferential to him, while also maintaining homeostasis for his powers.

Lots of different options available for you if you wanted them. I use whatever suits my purposes, although I generally like the headcanon that it's a case-by-case situation, because then I don't have to make convoluted rules for myself. I can just say, "That's how [insert character here] works." And I've saved myself three weeks of insanity.

hey! this is just a random question so please don't feel pressured to answer, if you're uncomfortable! basically, i was thinking about writing a story about jason and alcoholism. i wanted to explore it in a way, because i wanted a little bit of catharsis in exploring my own relationship with my preferred form of escapism, but also because i read quite a classist take on jason and catherine, and how he's 'doomed by the narrative' to never escape the cycle, and i kind of wanted explore how that's not the case, and especially how damaging it is to refer to addiction as something that is 'dooming' someone. however, i am quite new at writing more complex stories. i was wondering if you had any advice as to how i could avoid classism in such a story/if that is even possible?

oh dear, it's been a month and i was somehow convinced i replied to this ask! although, honestly, i don't think you need much help here. you are already aware of all the implications of writing a story about such a difficult topic.

i think there exists a certain freedom of self-expression, self-insert, and even plain indulgence in fanfics & headcanons that should not be held to the same standard as canon is. what i mean is that if dc gave jason an alcohol problem i would be dismayed because there is not a considerable array of characters with a similar background as his, and so associating addiction with it to such an extent (after already retconning willis to have issues with alcohol) is questionable. so i guess one thing i would probably avoid is such a portrayal of willis, but i'm not in your head and it's fully possible you would handle it respectfully and with the sensitivity that lobdell obviously does not possess.

but i think first and foremost you have to simply trust yourself with it. it's your experience. and i'm assuming jason is a character that is dear to you too. maybe this experience would not be more appropriate to be explored with a different character if it were a published comic book, or maybe it would fit jay just fine and you would be able to draw out the nuance like no one in dc has ever bothered to. but as i said, you're not really working within a complicated framework of an editorial puzzle wherein you have to take that all into account. there are certain cliches that might be normally avoided for the sake of creating a more nuanced and wider array of representation, but these cliches might ring true for your life, for instance; and you are free to include it all in your story. it's just the recognition of the dangers of stereotyping that should come through.

also, what you described as your source of inspiration already sounds exceptionally good! addiction is a health issue first and foremost, and challenging its status in storytelling (and common consciousness) as a piece of fate's machinery and a "fatal flaw" is so important. it'd be especially interesting to see it explored not just against jason's (past & cultural) socio-economic background but also irt his later trauma & the mode of social existence as a vigilante/superhero (which i guess was attempted with roy once.)

if/when you write it (or if you have already written it, since it's been a while) and if you're planning to post it, i'd love to read it!

Headcanon request for the reapers. What hobbies do you think they have or would like to have if they had more time?

a few of these are a lil sad or have sad undertones, but hopefully still what you're looking for!

also all the Reapers are technically too many for headcanon sets (my limit is 5 characters for headcanon sets) so I did more a single headcanon/reaction style! :)

Gardening, for sure! His interest in that started as a morbid fascination with, well… thorns. Trying to understand his own illness through using plants which had thorns, even though he knew it was a silly comparison. Still, he’s grown to love flowers. He doesn’t have as much time as he might like to tend to a full garden, but he has a few small plants around the house that he can manage. Erica flowers are his favorite; he’s also partial to succulents, though. They’re hardy, don’t need a lot of babying, and are incredibly hard to kill.

Reading, even though some people consider him very much not the bookworm ‘type’. Knowledge is power, and if he can learn things that might come to be useful by casually browsing through the morning paper’s headlines or happening upon something in a novel, all the better. The rookies should take a page from his book! (Haha.) He’s definitely partial to newspapers, as an attempt to keep informed about current events. However, he’s no stranger to losing himself in a good mystery… or, occasionally, something romantic.

Cosmetics!! Usually on themself, although they will happily give makeovers upon request! It’s perhaps a gauche interest in the time period, since people who wear a lot of makeup are often derided as prostitutes. That doesn’t exactly work on Grell — they couldn’t care less if people tell them they’re wearing ‘whore paint’. Whatever pronouns they happen to be using, they like to look feminine, and cosmetics make them feel like they have that look. Their favorite thing to experiment with is lipstick, but, really, even their so-called unfavorites are favorites.

Hmm… board games and card games? Being in Forensics, he has a bit more downtime than the average field working Reaper, so he needs something to keep him from dying a second time out of boredom. It just can’t be something conspicuous that looks like slacking off. He’s gotten quite good at chess, though he’s also partial to dominoes and solitaire. Also, he enjoys building houses of cards. He takes immense pride in spending days on them and showing them off to people.

… Does drinking and picking people up at bars count as a hobby? Because that’s something he enjoys doing! Really, he hasn’t been a Reaper long enough to quite realize just how important a different hobby is. So he’s mostly been sticking to things he did whilst human; drinking, flirting, having sex. In the future, it might dawn on him that he can’t just keep doing the things he did as a human and expect everything to be great. Perhaps once that does settle in… he’ll give modeling and fashion a go? He’s got the looks and sense for it!

Smoking. That’s kind of a hobby, isn’t it? Bah. He doesn’t focus on hobbies too terribly much, because he’s busy enough. Once he’s done with work, he likes to just relax, smoke, and sleep. That said, he’s sort of interested in machinery and engineering, like… watches, clocks, music boxes, that kind of thing. If he ever decides to pick something up other than a cigarette, he might give that a try. He’s discovered through helping Sascha with their equipment that he does like tinkering with things. That may be… not quite as relaxing as a cigarette, but close.

Ah, their work is their whole life!! Well, hm… kind of. In the sense that they count themself lucky their job involves their hobby, at least. Photography is their biggest love, so getting to spend their whole workday snapping pictures? They adore that. After they clock out of work, they spend the rest of their day taking photos of landscapes, or pretty people they see, or interesting bugs. They probably even take a photo of their dinner. Although they’ll eventually need to find a different hobby, they’re content to do this until their passion spirals into a burnout.

Ain’t his hobbies obvious? He’s clearly trying to do research for a big book of jokes he hopes to compile and publish someday! Hahahaha! Kidding aside, he’s been burning the candle at both ends for such a long time that he hasn’t had a real hobby in a while. The one thing which comes close is that he bakes quite a bit. Biscuits, tea cakes, scones… he’s always cooking up something sweet. This is probably the saving grace that keeps him from going completely batty; while baking, he can relax and focus solely on this one thing, and then he has something to savor once he’s done.

Reapers have no time nor need for hobbies. That’s the whole point of being a Reaper. This existence is a punishment, an eternity of work to understand the value of human life so they realize it’s something precious and shouldn’t be thrown away like they all did. He’s… intense about this. He views sleep as his ‘guilty pleasure’ hobby, even though it’s something that Reapers (unlike demons or angels) do need. Aside from that, he’s pretty much all business. He does get a little relaxation and pleasure out of cooking, even after a long day… but you’d be hard pressed to get him to admit it’s a hobby.

Of course, anon dear! Thank you for the request and I hope you'll enjoy the headcanons!

💭 — what is your oc’s mbti, enneagram, and/or other personality aspects (if known/interested in)?

Now, I don't do these kinds of tests, know nothing really about the different types and really don't have an interest in going and wasting potentially hours on doing them for fictional characters, but I will say, without a doubt in my mind that, if these were available in Cradle, these kind of personality tests would definitely be something that would hold Edgar's attention. He would find them interesting and amusing and would definitely take them, possibly even taking them for his friends or the people he knows, just to see what their results would be as well.

🚗  — does your oc have a driver’s license? can they drive/operate any automobiles/machinery besides cars?

Now, Cradle doesn't really have cars and such, but assuming they did, I could see Edgar having his license and I do think he's a fairly decent driver, though he has a tendency to have a bit of a lead foot and does enjoy speeding, when he knows he wouldn't be caught.

✈️  — does your oc like traveling, or do they consider themselves a more homey person?

Edgar would enjoy travelling with the right people. By himself, he doesn't really see much enjoyment in it and he's not a solo vacationer. He really only sees the adventure and interest in a trip if he can share the experiences with someone else.

🎮  — what are three of your oc’s favorite hobbies?

Teasing people - Edgar really does enjoy it, even when he pretends he doesn't. He also really does like playing with animals and spending time with his own family of ducks or even just feeding the regular birds that come and gather around the Red Army headquarters. He also really does like training and sparring, which would probably be the only thing he genuinely considers a hobby of his.

Edgar doesn't have any piercings and I don't think he has any interest in getting any himself. He can admire them on other people, but they're just not for him. The same goes with tattoos - he loves them on others, but it's just not something he really wants on his own body.

📚 — what level of education has your oc most recently completed/is currently in (ged, undergraduate, grad school, phd, etc)?

Now, it's never really shown that Cradle has any universities or such, so I do think that Edgar has completed the amount of schooling available to him in Cradle. I do see him as someone who did enjoy the student life and he definitely would have pursued higher learning if it was available to him.

🎻  — does your oc play any instruments? what is their skill level (beginner/intermediate/advanced/virtuoso/etc)

I do think, because of his family's strict upbringing, that Edgar was required to learn at least one instrument. I can see him being a skilled piano player, though not quite at the virtuoso level, though he really doesn't find much enjoyment in actually playing.

I personally see Edgar as blood type AB negative, especially if we're going by blood type personality theory.

Now, again, because Cradle is the place it is, there's not a hugely wide variety of music, so assuming that modern music was around in Cradle, I see Edgar being very much a fan of bubblegum pop, just light and happy and upbeat music that sticks in your mind, or a fan of really catchy theme songs from popular shows, which he hums or sings a few lines of when he's feeling in the mood to be particularly annoying, just to make sure they get stuck in people's heads.

Edgar is double jointed and can bend his fingers back until they touch the back of his hand. Edgar can dislocate his shoulders at will. Edgar has a really great memory, especially when it comes to people's words.

💤  — is your oc a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? how are their sleeping habits?

Edgar is a pretty solid sleeper, once he falls asleep. He's still easy enough to wake up to certain triggers, such as someone entering his bedroom or saying his name, but he sleeps soundly once asleep. However, he does sometimes really struggle to fall asleep.

🔱  — can your oc swim? do they enjoy swimming?

Edgar can swim but he's not really been swimming for enjoyment too often - it only happened during his school days and he really did enjoy it. They're part of his happiest memories.

🔺 — does your oc know how to use any weapons?

Yes. Even canonically, it's shown that Edgar is one of the most experienced and skilled swordsmen.

🔶 — does your oc know cpr? do they have any other medical expertise?

I do think, just because of the training he acquired from his family, that Edgar knows the basics of the human body and how to hurt or heal it. However, he's definitely not a doctor and he prefers to leave any major injuries to the actual professionals, like Kyle.

🚫 — does your oc drink/smoke? do they do it regularly, or is it more on occasion or for special events?

No on both counts. I've mentioned it in previous headcanons, but Edgar really hates the smell of smoke because it does heavily remind him of his uncle, who I do headcanon as a smoker, and alcohol will be expounded upon further down.

🎄 — what is your oc’s favorite holiday?

I honestly don't think that Edgar had the opportunity, given his upbringing, to really celebrate many of the holidays with any particular enjoyment and festivities. His favourite holiday only came into play once his school years started and then it became his birthday, when his few friends would get him gifts or spend extra time with him.

🐶 — does your oc have any pets?

Yes, as shown canonically, Edgar has a family of ducks, the Creeks. He'd love to have more, but he'd hate to make them jealous or sad.

🐈 — does your oc prefer a wide circle of friends or a few close friends?

As mentioned in other parts of this post, Edgar would enjoy having more friends. However, he wants true friends and he's okay with having less than he'd like of those, as long as those true friends are with him.

Edgar really does have a fondness for any type of bird, something that started when he was really little and would sit at the window and watch the birds in the morning.

I think the sphinx would interest and amuse Edgar. He likes the riddles they give, since he's someone who finds enjoyment in trying to figure them out, and the stories of the punishments that awaited those who could not answer were interesting as well.

I think Edgar would really enjoy math and sciences most, just because they were areas that he excelled at, so the classes really took little effort on his part.

See, it's kind of sad because Edgar would honestly love to garden...except that he's a terrible, terrible gardener, who can't tell the difference between a weed and a plant. As long as it grows, isn't he doing it right, is his general opinion on the matter.

Edgar is intelligent, he does have a genuine interest in others, and he can be incredibly brave.

Edgar really does enjoy teasing people, he can be a little lazy when it comes to things that he doesn't really have an interest or a need to do, and he has horrible eating habits.

Edgar can have difficulties understanding emotions, both his own and other people's. He can be cunning and ruthless when he needs or wants to be and he's not afraid to pull an underhanded trick to get his own way, though he is trying to be better with that.

Edgar considers freedom, both his own and that of others, to be the most important thing to him, other than the happiness and health of those few important people to him, especially after everything he's been through.

For most of his life, Edgar did prioritize Claudius and his family's teachings. However, as he aged and as he got closer to other people, he began to prioritize his friends and his found family more.

While Cradle is mostly shown to be a single-language population, I do feel that Edgar, if there were other languages spoken, would be a polyglot, who picks up languages rather quickly.

Edgar really enjoys being outside, even if he's simply lazing around under a tree and watching the Creeks. However, if the weather isn't cooperating, as long as he has something to do or something to amuse him indoors, he can be content there as well.

🖤  — has your oc killed or seriously wounded anyone before? have they broken someone’s heart and/or broken someone’s trust?

Yes to both. Again, Edgar's upbringing, and the things he was forced to do, were brutal by most people's standards, to the point where he'll never actually tell anybody everything that Claudius had him do or that he did under orders.

Edgar was born August 23 and he's 25. That makes him a Virgo, with the moon in Cancer, though he doesn't know his rising signs, though he'd love to find someone to do a whole birth chart for him. He honestly does find things like that enjoyable to learn and read about and he enjoys seeing what fits him and what doesn't.

🍝  — what is/are your oc’s favorite food(s)?

Edgar really does have a real sweet tooth and he loves junk food, especially jelly beans and gummy worms or bears. With the bears, he always eats the heads first - so they don't suffer, of course.

🍦 — what is/are your oc’s favorite ice cream flavor(s)?

I feel like Edgar would really gravitate towards the insanely bright and fun coloured ice cream flavours, like Moon Mist, Cotton Candy, or Bubble Gum, especially since it would slightly gross Jonah out and he does find that amusing.

🍔— is your oc good at cooking? are they good at baking? which one do they prefer?

Edgar isn't quite a lethal chef. I feel he could fend for himself, if it was left to him to make his own meals, but I don't think he's a great cook. He tends to either make things very bland or over-season them when cooking and he tends to burn everything he attempts to bake, to the point where Luka doesn't let Edgar around when he's baking.

🍸 — what is your oc’s favorite alcoholic drink, if they can drink?

I honestly don't see Edgar as much of a drinker. He's learned to tolerate it, if the situation demanded it, but he dislikes the taste and the very act of getting drunk.

☕️ — does your oc prefer coffee, tea, hot chocolate, milk, water, or some other drink? how do they like to take this drink (ex. coffee with milk, hot chocolate with whipped cream, a specific kind of tea, etc)?

Edgar drinks a lot of water. It's most of what he drinks, though he really likes hot chocolate, especially if Luka is the one making it for him because Luka, in his opinion, makes the best hot chocolate and it used to be Edgar's study treat during their school days.

😊 — what are your oc’s career/general life desires? what do they want to get the most out of life?

Honestly, Edgar doesn't know! He knows what he used to think it was, but he's not sure what he wants or even fully who he is as he ages...honestly, I think he mostly just wants to figure out who he is, what makes him happy, and to live a life that makes him happy and helps the people around him. He wants to really make things right for himself and everyone around him, and to leave their lives just a little bit better for them letting him be in them.

😖  — is your oc an introvert, an extrovert, or an ambivert? do they let people in easily, or are they more reserved?

I would personally classify Edgar as an extrovert, because he really does love being around people and he is energized by spending time with them. However, he's a very reserved extrovert in that he doesn't really trust people easily and he doesn't know how to let people in all that well.

🤔  — what are some of your oc’s quirks/mannerisms?

Edgar has a habit of snapping his fingers whenever he says 'like that'. He can roll a coin perfectly between his fingers and he has a habit of sucking his teeth when he's really annoyed.

🧐 — is your oc more logical or emotional?

Edgar really was raised to be very logical. He was raised to suppress or push aside his own emotions and convictions and always take the logical route. While he's trying to do better at identifying his own emotions and giving them more weight, he can still tend to be a little too logically minded at times.

🤓 — is your oc chatty or quiet? are they at ease in social situations, or are they more shy?

Edgar's not shy by any means. He doesn't fear talking to people, but he's also not a chatterbox. He's good at small conversations, but isn't a naturally verbose person, and he does enjoy more listening to other people. However, the closer he gets to someone and the more trust he feels towards them, the more likely it is that he will open up and talk more.

🤩 — is your oc a planner, or are they more spontaneous in their actions?

While most some of Edgar's actions seem to come out of left field to those around him, and most consider him as someone full of surprises, make no mistakes - Edgar carefully plans and plots and usually knows what he's going to do, though he can certainly improvise on the fly.

😥 — is your oc prone to getting stressed out, or is it easy for them to keep their cool?

Edgar suppresses a lot of his stress. He wasn't really ever allowed to show it; he learned to keep a calm, implacable façade at an early age and it's something he now does subconsciously. For the most part, because of that, he's really good at working and living under high amounts of stress, because he certainly does get stressed.

😓 — is your oc open-minded or stubborn? are they inquisitive or do they prefer to keep to their bubble of knowledge?

It really does depend on the subject. Edgar can be really pig-headed when it comes to certain things, both large and important topics and little bitty petty things, like how a towel should be folded. For most things though, he does try to keep an open mind and he's someone who wants to be constantly learning.

😞 — does your oc attract others, or do they tend to be left alone?

Edgar would really love to attract others. I really do think he feels incredibly lonely at times, but the fact is that he really does tend to put people off. People tend to honestly be a little creeped out by him, but Edgar isn't dumb and he does realize that some of his mannerisms are off-putting and if he just changed them, people might find him more approachable. However, he doesn't want to have to change himself...truth be told, there's very few parts of himself that he's sure are himself and aren't just his uncle's influence, so he doesn't want to change those things. He wants people to like him for as much of who he is that he knows.

🤒 — does your oc get sick easily?

Edgar doesn't get sick often, but when he does, it tends to be more issues with his muscles and joints, especially in his legs and feet.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 — how many people are in your oc’s immediate family? how many people are in your oc’s extended family? do they have aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc? who in their family are they closest with? are they close with their birth family, or do they have a found family?

Claudius is the only surviving member of Edgar's family, and he's largely the person who raised Edgar. As a confirmed bachelor, Claudius had no spouse or children, so it was mostly Edgar and his uncle during his entire life. However, while family used to mean a lot to Edgar, as he aged and was exposed to more and more people, he found that he counted those around him, like Zero or Luka, as more family than Claudius and he really is the type to put a lot of stock in the idea of a found family.

All he can do was to huff out and cross his arms to his chest, his scowling face concealing the sting he feels whenever the cotton ball would touch the various scapes and gashes he has from fighting the Bat. If you were able to see his face that is, he insisted not to look at you like the proper bratty child he is. You couldn't care less about his bitching and refusal to look at you, but when it came to treat the cuts on his face, you needed him to turn.

"Alright, look at me."

He did not, in fact, budged. He continued to glare at thin air, hoping you'd be the one adjusting to cater to his stubborn needless necessities.

Oh you were soft for the first time and you will not give him the luxury of that treatment again if he continues to bitch. Taking none of it, you grasp him by his face and turned him to face you.

"I said, look at me." Uttered in a dangerously low voice, you finally grab his attention.

He released the strain on his face with a different kind of strain, his eyes widening in shock at how close you pulled him to your face and not to mention, how he felt the depths of your voice to his very core. Lightly humming in satisfaction, you picked the cotton soaked in disinfectant, you gently dab the cuts on his face.

Finally he's done being a hissy bitch.

At the duration of it, he remains compliant, which made it easier for you to clean his injuries and eventually had him bandaged up in no time. He seems to be too dazed to actually feel the sting of the alcohol against the open cuts, as he was concentrated between your distance, or the lack thereof.

After sticking the bandage on the cut on his cheek, you finally press your lips to his after noticing he's been eyeing it for so long.

"There, happy?"

Wanting to assume to his usual bravado, he clears his throat. "Well, colour me elated."

Before pulling him for another one, you scoffed. "You dork."

I mean... What's new? If it's not the Batman, it's one of his machineries... Well, not really his machineries, but himself. He's a hazard to society and to himself. It feels difficult to watch him go about in his box with no ventilation, there's the smoke from the welding machine, the scraps of metal lying about, along with the tools... Forget about the final forms of whatever these things are, the progress of its creation itself already looks like it can make John Kramer blush.

Your worries has came to life when you find Edward bleeding when a piece of metal was mishandled, flew and pierced his goggle. It was an accident quite reminiscent to that of Final Destination's deaths that you shot from your seat and bolted towards him.

"Oh... My god, are you okay?" You held his shoulder whilst he takes his goggles off.

Thankfully he was wearing goggles, god knows what would happen if the metal shrapnel pierced through his face instead... It's not good to think about that right now. Though he was safe, there was a small cut on his forehead dripping steadily. The sight of the dripping red made you step back with your breath hitched at the back of your throat, for a moment Edward thought you were going to faint on him.

But no, you just quietly left to fetch the first aid kit that you kept around. At these living conditions, it was best to be prepared, lest you want him to bleed out.

At the duration of it all, none have spoken a word. You were too absorbed in your work to treat the gash on his forehead, whilst he was too absorbed into trying to contain himself with how near you were, how if you were to inch further you'd be close enough kiss him. Occasionally wincing the from dull sting of the disinfectant, you can only wince apologetically as well whilst continuing to path him up. Breaking your concentration for a small moment, you notice how close you were to him, suddenly you were aware of his breathing and how it hits your skin, which subsequently caused you to glance on his parted lips... Oh those lips.

Edward holds your gaze when you glanced back at him, your face heating up when you didn't mean to make eye contact with him, but strangely you didn't look away. He certainly saw it when your eyes darted down to his lips, which also pushed him to drop his daze to see you biting your lip.

Unable to take it anymore, he suddenly puts his hand at the back of your neck and pulls you close. Being mindful of the cut on his forehead that he seems to neglect, you pull away just enough distance not to press against the gash.

IN THIS ESSAY I WILL EXPLAIN WHY I FUCKIGN LOVE DIBPER

I didn't wanna clog up the dash w me reblogging tia's post so im gna talk abt it here!!

Okay so from the context of why Dib works so well with Dipper is because they are very similar in a lot of ways but have very different strengths, and therefore can support each other. To explain quickly, Dib's motivations in canon are basically "expose zim to the world as an alien so they'll finally take me seriously (but mostly my dad)". All he really wants is his father's approval, who AHEM, is essentially abusive and i fucking hate professor membrane so much fucking fuckity fuck shit-- excuse me. Anyways everyone in his life writes him off as crazy for believing in the paranormal.

Dipper is also like this to an extent, he wants to impress a father figure (Ford) and towards the start of the show is depicted as slightly paranoid, so he can understand where Dib is coming from on that front. Also can you imagine Dib telling Dipper "my fucking classmate is an alien, here, look at these pictures!" and Dipper nodding, and going "yeah omg that's so cool!". Like I think Dib would start fucking sobbing. He just wants to be believed and respected and not shoved into the mold his dad wants him to fill, and Dipper believes him!

Coming from Dipper's point of view, he doesn't have very much self confidence. Of course, he does gain some as his character develops, but Dib would definitely be there to pick up the slack. He is extremely confident in the show, or at least lacks the awareness to lose confidence, and therefore is a lot more reckless than Dipper. 50 step plans? Hell no, he's throwing himself into situations without thinking of a way out at all. So basically Dipper's anxiety is an Immovable Object and Dib's recklessness is an Unstoppable Force. This way, Dib would pull Dipper out of his comfort zone and Dipper would reel Dib in a bit so he doesn't get himself too hurt.

On the similar side though, both of them are passionate and obsessive, Dib keeps tabs on Zim constantly and Dipper keeps up the journals so they both like logging their findings. I think to a certain extent both of them kinda want recognition for their research so I could easily see them publishing some of it together whether it just be in a book or an actual academic journal. They're both nerdy as fuck (but in different ways), Dib is good with machinery and tech while Dipper is good with organization and numbers. (Headcanon: Dipper tries to get Dib to play DD&MD with him but Dib's ADHD brain gets bored of all the numbers very quickly lol). They are both v good boys and I love them.

Most of this stuff is just stemming from canon and has nothing to do with the ADDITIONAL headcanons I have for these motherfuckers, so let's just rapid fire those: 1. Dib can cook, Dipper can not. If it wasnt for Dib, Dipper would be living off microwave spaghettios to this day. 2. Likewise, Dib cannot fucking drive, Dipper does all the driving for them. 3. Dipper is still kind of insecure about his masculinity even into adulthood, but Dib is rlly gnc and it kind of eases his nerves seeing that his partner wears all sorts of clothes and isn't questioned. 4. They both chew their pens. Ew. 5. Dib is always cold, Dipper is always warm, together they make the perfect human body temperature.

Those are mostly just general headcanons, I have way too many fucking aus and unless you want this essay to be literally the length of a novel I'll restrain myself. The main au I talk about (and am writing a fic for with my friend @/kuzakat), is the murder boys/murder boyfriends au, wherein Dib is a serial killer and Very Annoying and Dipper is just trying to get him out of his hair lmfao. Its basically a hannibal au by accident but blame Kuza for that because THEY watched it and I haven't, so for all I know they subtly shoved in hannibal details while I was none the wiser. UHH other than that I have my Farm AU, Telekinesis Au, Horror Au, Angel/Demon Au, and the Betrayal Au, but I might be missing some. So yeah. Awww I'm glad you like it! I just spent 5 minutes trying to figure out what "HCS" meant before realizing I'm a tired idiot who can't read lol

But yeah! I got some headcanons for the engineer/Spirits I can share!

These headcanons are a mix of things I generally believe for any iteration of the Hero of Spirits and a few things exclusive to CTB. It's pretty obvious which are which.

Technically this is slight spoilers since most of this is not mentioned in-story, but Warriors is a such a self-centered asshole that I'm not sure when I can get him to explicitly ask about Spirit's backstory lol

This got super long and kind of just became me talking about Spirits's entire backstory, so enjoy:

Spirits is sixteen during the course of Spirit Tracks, mostly because that was the vibe I got from him when I first played the game (I made him younger for CTB)

He's not descendant from Wind (who I maintain disappeared instead of settling in New Hyrule); instead, he's Aryll's great grandson

His family name used to be Outset, but when everyone who originally immigrated from Outset island took on that last name, they changed it to Aryll to reflect the family matriarch

So Spirit's full name is Link Aryll, though there is a branch of his family that uses Macaryll instead

The Aryll/Macaryll family is huge; everyone has at least six aunts and uncles on all sides of the family and they can trace back how they are related to Aryll

"I'm Grandma Aryl's third son's second daughter's fifth child." -someone Spirits is related to, probably

He actually never met his great grandmother; she died before he was born.

Spirit's dad was full-blooded Lokomo while his mother was Hylian; his mother passed a few months after he was born after never truly recovering from childbirth while his father died in a fishing accident when he was eight

He went to live with an aunt and uncle who owned a general store; their relationship was polite at best. The aunt and uncle told Spirits upfront that they intended to give the store over to his cousin when he was older so Spirits needed to come up with his own life plan

Spirits didn't necessarily mind since he never wanted to work in a store for the rest of his life, but the ultimatum made it clear that they didn't care for him like a son

To this day, their relationship isn't strained and he doesn't hate them. But whenever they meet, he's overly polite; they're more acquaintances than family

He's cool with his cousin though. They have different interests so they aren't best friends, but they're okay.

Spirits also always had his spirit-sensing abilities. It's really like a sixth sense to him, as normal and automatic as seeing and hearing; he actually didn't realize this wasn't normal until he was a little older

His abilities at this point are limited to sensing vague ideas of a person's spirit (if they're light or dark, etc.), and seeing ghosts (which are really rare. You have to have a lot of power yourself to become one)

(Note: I'm not the only one who headcanons Spirits as having spirit sensing abilities; if you know who can up with the idea, please let me know so that I can tag/credit them!)

The elder of his village told him that select Lokomo had minor spirit sensing abilities, and those who did were traditionally made elders of their villages; being more of a follower than a leader, Spirits adamantly dismissed that idea and refused to be trained on how to hone his spirit senses. He also never learned any of the religion behind it

Which was a little worrisome since his abilities are way stronger than most

Besides, he's always liked trains and it's been his dream to travel around the kingdom as an engineer; being some town's elder would get in the way of that

Anyway, Spirits had to pass a written exam before being accepted as an apprentice engineer, so he's very studious and has a lot of drive (pun unintended?)

He went to live with his Uncle Niko during his apprenticeship in another town; Niko isn't related to him, but he's been a friend of the family for so long that everyone secretly thinks he's actually related to someone and they just forgot who

Niko is his real family, hands down. Those two are as thick as thieves and bring out the wild side in each other

A preteen Spirits used to think Niko was a little lame and kind of embarrassing, but now that he's older, he's all for Niko's weird old man-ness and has even picked up on some of his weird old man-ness himself

That being said, they're both disasters. Neither can clean or cook or do any kind of housekeeping and their shared house is cluttered with Niko's art projects and Spirit's half-finished tinkering

Growing up, Spirits had no idea he was related to the legendary Hero of Wind; Aryll died before he was born, but even in life she was filled with too much grief over her missing brother to discuss it often. Within the family, being related to the Hero of Wind is a rumor at best.

Of course, Niko knows but keeps it a secret from Spirits; once he got back from his LU-adventure, Wind told Niko about the curse of the Hero's Spirit. Then he went missing post-New Hyrule's founding, which really drove the terror of the curse home. Niko thought he could keep Wind's family from falling victim to it by not inadvertently encouraging them to follow in Wind's footsteps

So Niko kept it a secret

And obviously, that didn't work

Spirits' quest to save New Hyrule resulted in him realizing that he needed to embrace his Lokomo heritage and get a handle on his spirit powers; Anjean gave him a little training during his quest but afterwards he traveled around the kingdom to find as many people as he could with abilities like his

They were all really excited to teach him what they knew, especially the religious aspects of the abilities; Spirits is still not the most religious person, but he at least understands and embraces the cultural significance of what he is able to do

This is where he learned how to read a person's Spirit to get an idea of their life experiences and the kind of person they're like; he can also detect where a person is without having to put much effort into it

At Zelda's encouragement, he also got more sword training from the Castle Guard. She offered him a place among them, but he turned it down in favor of remaining an engineer. He still helps around as a swordsman when he can and will act as Zelda's body guard

Speaking of which, he and Zelda are 100% in love. Their relationship started out as puppy love but over the years as matured into a deep connection built on mutual respect

When he's working on designing new engines or parts for his trains, he occasionally brings his drafting materials to the castle gardens so that he can work alongside Zelda; sometimes she falls asleep leaning against his arm and he has to be careful not to shake her awake as he works

Whenever she need to go anywhere in the kingdom, she rides in his train and teasingly criticizes his conducting; he takes a lot of pride in his conducting, but he lets her get away with it since her critiques are objectively hilarious

He keeps a tiny pictograph of her taped to his dashboard

But there's a bit of a problem with their relationship, and it's that he doesn't know if he wants to be the prince consort or not. He does love her, but that would mean giving up being an engineer in favor of being stuck at the castle all of the time

Plus, he's doing great as an engineer; he's saving up to open his own garage that produces his own train designs

Eventually, he leaves for the War of Eras

His experiences with Warriors leaves him more sure than ever that he doesn't want to be the prince consort, resulting in him ending his relationship with Zelda shortly after he returns home

It hurts for a long time to be around her since all of his old feelings keep coming back, so he keeps his distance for a long time; it takes a few years for him to go back to hanging out with Zelda as friends

But now she's approaching marriage age, and he spends a lot of time when he's on body guard duty super jealous of these princes and ambassadors from foreign kingdoms who try to court her

But again, he knows he can't be in a relationship with her so he respectfully and silently pines over her (I'm just a sucker for pining, okay?)

Okay, more random headcanons that are a little less sad

Spirits likes super spicy food, but since he can't cook to save his own life, he just eats whatever he can get his hands on

He's super dirty all of the time, just the epitome of scrappy; there's always a smear of oil somewhere on his person

He actually really hates bathing and only keeps his curly hair in check to comply with train safety regulations

He's really polite and a little shy, but once he loosens up, he gets talkative and personable

He's also very contemplative; he likes conducting so much because he gets to spend long stretches of time alone with nothing but his thoughts

His trauma/stress response is to shut down; he goes quiet, loses energy, and sleeps for longer periods of time

He tends to gravitate towards socializing with people who are older than him, which gets him labeled as being no fun by his peers (despite having someone as cooky as Niko for a uncle)

Post-adventure, his best friend is Linebeck III. They're drinking buddies. Neither can really explain why they even like hanging out as much as they do

(I just like the idea of Linebeck accidentally getting attached to one kid and his whole bloodline getting forever tangled with Wind's; they're bros for multiple lifetimes)

Not only is Spirits good at designing and building new machinery, but he's great at tinkering; he can fix almost anything and will buy broken things on purpose just to have something to fix

No one really knows he's a hero; he doesn't like the attention and, at his request, Zelda did her best to keep his involvement with Malladus a secret

Because not many common people know about his adventure and records of New Hyrule are very rare, he's considered in Warrior's time to be a forgotten hero; some scholars believe that a Hero of Spirits may have once existed, but if he did, no one really knows who he was or what he did to serve the bloodline of Hylia

Shingeki no Kyojin headcanons: 104th training corps (College AU)

Hello, Postmodernbeing here. This time I wanted to write about things that I actually know, since I’m a college student and I’m studing History and Social Sciences I found myself wondering about what would the 104th training corps focus their studies on if all of them had chosen humanities as their career. I hope you find this funny and at least a bit accurate.

Eren Jaeger

He’s passionate about Military History, not to be confused with history of army. Eren’s rather focused in strategies, weapons and semiotics involved in military speech.

First started with books about great wars in modern era. The use of certain weapons took him by surprise due the technological development.

Then he took classes about discourse analysis, semiotics and such, and felt inspired by the discourse reflected in emblems, uniforms, flags, etc.

Eren doesn’t really have a preference between occidental or oriental, North or South, Modern or Ancient settings. He would simply devour all the books that deal with military strategy and warlike conflicts. Although he has more experience and information about great wars in modern era.

He’s fascinated with the inexhaustible human desire of freedom and the extent that it can reach. This fascination might not be very healthy, he concludes.

Also, finds a cruel beauty in violence when showed in freedom and ideals are protected over one’s own life. But he won’t tell his classmates or professors. He knows is a controversial opinion for he’s still aware the implications of massive conflicts and the abuse of power.

One thing led to another, Eren is now taking classes and reading about philosophy in war and anthropological perspectives about violence through time.

He’s so into social movements besides his main interest in college: “No one’s really free until all humanity is”, that’s his life motto pretty much.

Due his readings and researches he decided it was important to develop a political stance about the world’s problems. Eren strongly believes all lives worth the same, but systems and nations had imposed over others and vulnerated other human's lives.

Yes, Eren is anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist.

Mikasa Ackerman

Asian Studies Major / History Minor.

She thinks by studying these degrees, she pays honor to her heritage. Specially to her mother. Her family is the proudest for Mikasa is also the best student in her whole generation.

Mikasa received a scholarship thanks to Azumabito family, who are co-founders of an academic institution dedicated to Asian historical and cultural research. She might as well start working when she graduates.

Although she’s passionate about Japan’s history, she has written a few articles and essays about Asian Studies themselves and the importance of preserving but also divulging by means of art and sciences.

In her essays and research work, she likes to employ tools from many disciplines since she strongly believes all humanities and social sciences serve the very same purpose at scrutinize the social reality all the same. Might as well use demographics, ethnology, sociology, philosophy, anthropology, archeology, and so on. For it proves to bring light into questions that history by itself could answer unsatisfactorily (in Mikasa’s opinion).

Even her professors wonder how she manages to organize that much information and pull it off successfully. She might as well be more brilliant than a few PhD’s students.

Armin Arlert

Prehistoric studies / Archeology

He’s so into the studies about the prehistoric humans and routes of migration.

Passionate about the ocean and natural wonders since kid, Armin believed his career would be environmentalist or geoscience related.

That was the agreement he had with his grandad since middleschool, until he read Paul Rivet’s “The Origins of the American Man” book and captured him thoroughly. The way the book explained logically the diverse theories about global migration and enlisted the challenges of modern archeology -for there are numerous mysteries- simply devoured his conscience.

He knew from the books he’d read that most evidence of the first settlements are deep under dirt or far away in the ocean whose level has risen over the centuries leaving primitive camps – and answers – unreachable. 

That’s the reason he is so eager to study and give his best to contribute both archeology and history disciplines. Also, he’ll forever love the ocean and nature, just leave him do all the fieldwork, please.

Jean Kirstein

History of industry / Industrial heritage / Historical materialism

Jean first started interested in capitalist industries and production development in first world countries. Kind of rejected other visions and explanations since he’d read about positivism studies.

His interest in such matters started when he was a just boy. He often found himself wondering how things were made and that question captured him ever since. As he grew up, he realized that machines and industrial processes were highly involved in the most mundane objects creation.

Nonetheless, he learnt that not always the best machinery was used, nor the best work conditions were available for mass production. From that moment he’d started to read about the First Industrial Revolution and his mind just took off with questions. Invariably, he learned about labour struggle and the transforming power due workforce.

Between his readings and university classes, he’d knew more about labour movements, unions. And in the theoretical aspect, he'd learned about historical materialism analysis.

One could say that Jean possesses a humanistic vision of the implications in mass production under capitalist system along history and nowadays.

Marco Bodt

Royalty's history / Medieval Studies 

I wanted to keep his canonical fascination to royalty and the best way to do that was including Medieval Studies.

Marco would study since the fall of Roman Empire until the latest gossip of royal families all across Europe.

Might get a bit of Eurocentric with his essays but in real life discussions he’s always open to debates about decolonization. He has even read Frantz Fanon books and possesses a critical thinking about colonial countries and their relations with the so named third world.

Nevertheless, Marco finds a strange beauty in the lives of monarchs and he’s interested in study from their education, hobbies, strategies, relationships, everything.

I’d say that his favorite historical period is probably the establishment of the descendants of the barbarian peoples in the new kingdoms such as the Visigoths, Ostrogoths, Franks, Vandals, Huns, Saxons, Angles and Jutes (holy shit, they're a lot).

Because this would transcend as the beginning of his favorite matter of analysis.

Sasha Braus

History of gastronomy, development of cooking, antropology and archeological studies.

Sasha’s interested in the history that shows human development of food and cooking. She finds wonders when she inquires into cultural aspects from the first farming till modern artistic expressions that would involve food.

Such as gastronomy. But her attention got caught in literature’s food representation too, with its symbols and allegories, also in paintings that belong in still life movement, but also Sasha finds interest when food is used as rhetorical devices (for example: the apple in Adam and Eve’s myth).

She’s curious about primitive systems of irrigation, cultivation, food distribution, adaptation of wild species; as well as the domestication of animals, the diversification of the diet and its link with sedentary life, as well as the subsequent division of labor once the need for food was assured in humanity’ first cities.

Sasha’s convinced that alimentation is the pilar of civilization as we know it. For it involves cultural, artistic, economic, emotion and social aspects. Food is a microcosm of analysis of humanity.

Sasha hasn’t a favorite historical period or setting. But she definitely has a special fascination for first civilizations and their link with alimentation. Also, she likes to study the development gastronomy in occident world around different regions, social classes, and time.

Although, let’s be honest, Sasha would devour (lol, couldn’t help it) ANY book about agriculture, cattle raising, cooking or gastronomy. 

Connie Springer

Micro-history / History of everyday life.

Connie loves his hometown, has a deep respect to his family and traditions. That’s why he finds himself wondering about the most ordinary events that developed in his dear Ragako. 

The book “The Cheese and the Worms” by Carlo Ginzburg changed the way he used to understand history and capture him into meaningful discussions about what he learned was called micro-history.

His favorite quote from that book is: “As with language, culture offers to the individual a horizon of latent possibilities—a flexible and invisible cage in which he can exercise his own conditional liberty.”

Once deep into studying the Italian historians and their works, he decided to give it a try, and ever since he’s mesmerized with the mundane vestiges craftsmen that worked in his village left behind.

Connie’s parents are so proud of him and his achivements, but mostly because he became a passionate academic over human and simple matters, (so down to earth our big baby).

His attitude towards his essays and research works truly shows his great heart and humility. Connie is aware that academic works have no use if they are not meant to teach us about ourselves too and current times.

Empathy and hard work, that’s how one could describe the elements that integrate his recently started academic career.

Historia Reiss

Political History / Statistician

Her father’s family pressured Historia since she was a little girl into studying History just like his dad. For he’s a very famous historian that had made important researches and books about the greatest statesmen of Paradis.

She thought in numerous ways that she could sabotage her career or study any other career without her family’s consent and end with her linage of historians. But she ended up enrolling in tuition and so far, she is trying her best in her studies. Historia swears this is the right path for her.

But don’t let the appearances fool you, even thought she studies her father’s career and the very same branch of history’s discipline, she has her own critical sense and she’s so talented on her own, very meticulous with her research papers.

Definitely wants a PhD about women, power and politics. We stand a Gender Studies Queen.

Her complementary disciplines are Political Sciences. Historia also has a talent for philosophy and owns a diary with all her thoughts about them. She hopes one day she would write a book or a manifesto about an innovative methodology for research and teaching History of Politic Thinking.

Ymir 

Religion’s History / Theology

Just like Historia, Ymir was pressured into studying History. And if she’s totally honest, she still has some doubts about it. Even if she couldn’t imagine herself studying anything else.

Anyways, Ymir thought that she could build her career around topics that she enjoys. So, she finally chose theology for unusual reasons.

Her classmates had grown up in religious families or had experience studying the doctrines they practiced. But she, being an agnostic, found satisfaction in unraveling belief systems in different cultures and time periods.

Albeit she studies in Paradis’ University, she currently has the opportunity of taking an academic exchange at Marley’s University. This only made Ymir more conflicted about her future, for she wants to stay (near Historia) but she’s aware that Marley would offer her more academic opportunities for her specialization.

Nowadays she’s working in some collaborative research paper with some people from Mythological Studies from the Literature department. She’s nailing it, writing some historical studies about titans in Greek mythology and its impact in shaping neoclassical poetry. Her brains ugh, love her.

Reiner Braun

Official History / Biographies of heroes and great wars.

His mother convinced him with numerous books about great national heroes, but mostly because she knew that would mean sure job to her son. All political administration in every level requires of an official chronicler. 

When he started his college courses, Reiner felt motivated and he was actually convinced that he had the vocation. But the more he read the less sure he felt that the academic world was for him. He wondered if he made the right choice. If he did it for him or for his mother.

Stories and myths about heroes have always cheered him up. That gave him purpose and consoled him when feeling down. Or at least it was like that when younger. Reiner truly didn’t feel like himself when regretting his choices, but he couldn’t help it for he was changing in more than a way.

That’s why he decided to experiment with other disciplines and with time he would find joy in historical novels. He would analyze them just as good as a litterateur and research about historical context in the written story AND study the artwork’s context itself.

His favorites theorical books are: “Historical Text as Literary Artifact” by Hayden White and Michel de Certeau’ “The Writing of History”.·        

Heroes stories would always accompany him, just differently now.

Bertolt Hoover

History of mentalities / Les Annales

Intimate relationships, basic habits and attitudes. / Culture

Bertie has always been a much reticent and shy guy. As he grew up, he consolidated his sullen personality, but maintained a friendly attitude towards anyone who needed him. That’s why he thought that the priority in his studies was to be at the service of his classmates.

So, although he was passionate about research and was a fan of the French Les Annales current, he considered his mission to be in the Archive. As a cataloger, organizer and curator of ancient documents.

But the ways of History are always mysterious, and Doctor Magath showed him that other way of being was possible. Before Bertolt picked his specialty, he met Theo Magath, a professor who recently had finished writing a book: “The Idea of Death in Liberio’s Ghetto in Marley During its War Against Eldia (Paradis)” (long-ass titles are historians specialty btw). After Magath ended his book’ presentation, Bertolt reached him. They talked for hours and finally, he felt inspired into pursuing his true passion. Magath gifted him “The Historian’s Craft” by Marc Bloch as a way to reminding him his way.

By the time Bertolt took History of Mentalities as optional class, he already had some basic notions about Les Annales, Lucien Febvre, Marc Bloch, Fernand Braudel, Jacques Le Goff and such. 

Being the gentle giant he is, Bertolt finds joy in reading about different lifestyles in diverse cultures. He constantly wonders about the origin of social constructs and the way they shape thinking as much as identity.

This boy is a wonder, he might not be the best in oral presentations or  extracurricular activities but sure as hell he’ll graduate with honors.

Annie Leonhart

Oral history, about institutions. Particularly, police and justice system in early XXs.

Albeit she got into the same University than Bertolt and Reiner, even shared classes and hopes, Annie regularly felt disconnected from her studies. With time she realized it wasn't due her career itself but rather because of the currents that her professors had suggested her taking. Until now.

Talking with Hitch and Marlow about their doubts concerning subjects and departments it came up the topics of history and present time but also oral history. She’d never heard something like that before. So, that very same week, Annie started searching for information about that.

She ended up with more questions: is it all of this just academic journalism? Or maybe sociology? When we can talk about regular history and when it starts being present time? If she introduces interviews due oral history, then that makes it an interdisciplinary work? Which are the best systems for analyzing data? Definitely, she’ll need help from anthropology and sociology departments if she wants to keep going. 

Contrary to her initial prognostic, philosophy and history of historic writing became her new allies, and the text “Le temps présent et l'historiographie contemporaine” (Present Time and Contemporary Historiography) by Bédarida among others, provided Annie another perspective. 

Regarding her favorite topics, she wouldn’t say that she selected them freely. They were just practical preferences. For institutions own extensive archives and numerous functionaries. One way or another, she ended up tangled in judicial system and police issues.

With new tools and object for studying, one could find Annie having a blast as detective too. Even if her academic essays focus on institutions’ history and configuration, she’s also working in corruption and more. She doesn’t do it because she believes it’s the right thing, but besides, the thrill of the tea is spicy. Although she won’t admit it.

thoughts on possible reasons for conflict between xiao xingcheng and song lan that aren't xue yang's gremlin self? i've been thinking about it for a while and came up with nothing (because i'm not that involved in the songxiao realm) and i was like "i know who to ask"

oh man I’m deeply flattered that you’re asking me! though tbf I’m not involved in the songxiao realm of things either. if it’s xue yangless I get sad.

but setting that aside to think about where the fracture lines between them might be...I mean, I actually think personally that song lan and xiao xingchen’s relationship was always...more brittle than it seemed. not that they didn’t love and care about each other! they did! but I think to a certain extent their relationship hadn’t been very...stress-tested in a major way, prior to things getting stress-tested in the worst way, and that’s part of why things splintered so horribly.

because there are pain points between them, I think! xiao xingchen’s a little neurotic, already has some attachment issues that tend to make him a little clingy, and while he’s mostly pretty emotionally level when he gets emotional he gets very emotional, very fast. he is, generally, a little high-strung. he manages it well most of the time but in situations that set off his stress response (which are mostly interpersonal), that can slip pretty quickly into drastic action (cf. giving up his eyes, committing suicide).

song lan is I think generally a little more level-headed and calmer than xiao xingchen is, but he runs a temper. he works pretty hard controlling it, but it’s there and when it shows up it’s pretty intense.

he is also, I think, a little less interventionist than xiao xingchen tends to be - I’m borrowing from @ameliarating‘s headcanon here, but, for instance, I don’t think he’d be interested in pursuing xue yang (a human criminal). that’s something he’d just as soon stay out of entirely and keep focused on night hunts. getting involved at all with the machinery of societal justice is not something he thinks is ever worthwhile (for him, personally). all of this is to say - it’s easy for me to see them coming into conflict over something relatively small and ideological (because they do have their ideological differences! as mentioned above, specifically with regards to involvement in societal systems).

for the most part that’s fine and they can have reasonable discussions about it, but under the right circumstances - in a case where they have conflicting personal relationships to the situation, for instance, or perceptions of what’s going on - it could get harder. I think it would have to be some kind of situation where they both had a personal emotional response such that the situation was a proxy for something larger about them, their worldviews, and their life experiences.

I could see that escalating to a place where song lan loses his temper, xiao xingchen panics, and it sets off a fight between them. there’s also the ways in which I think xiao xingchen can, when he’s annoyed, get kind of passive-aggressive and petty, which I think would drive song lan insane. it is possibly his least favorite xingchen mode.

I think typically any argument between them could be solved relatively easily by parting ways for a while, getting some time to calm down, and then talking about it later, but if something happened in the interim to interrupt that cycle...I think song lan is in danger of holding back at a distance because he doesn’t really know how to make the first overture (because I don’t think he’s always great at that), while xiao xingchen is in danger of either being too quick to want to fix things (before either of them is really emotionally ready) or overcompensating by keeping his distance to an extent where song lan starts to have his own doubts about their relationship. then that kind of tension can become self-perpetuating.

this all still feels very vague! I’m not giving you any specifics of, like “this happens”, I know - more just noodling around what I see as potential conflict points in the way that they relate to the world and each other, which ultimately I think is more important in a conflict than any specific inciting incident.

Despite singing being a skill he’s particularly good at, it’s not a fact that Hephaestus shares willingly - if anything he’s incredibly embarrassed about his singing voice and genuinely believes that he’s no good at it. Perhaps it’s because of this that he only really sings when he’s by himself, which, more often than not, is when he’s holed away in his workshop. He can often stay down there for hours at a time whittling away at his work, sometimes even longer than that, and of course since he’s by himself it means that Heph’s a little more open to humming or singing while he passes the time.

The way the others find out is honestly due to pure chance. Usually, they wouldn’t check in on Heph unless something was up or they had a message to pass on, because when it comes to passing on info unless you go to Heph directly, chances are he’s not gonna hear it if you just yell down to him. And it’s because of that reason that Kurogane and Amatsumara end up having to stop by his workshop to pass on a message - it’s not as though they haven’t been down there before, Amatsumara more often than Kurogane, but usually any voices inside of the workshop are drowned out by the sound of machinery. However, this time is different, as with the lack of noise it makes it easier to hear what’s going on through the other side of the door.

Amatsumara hears it first, though he assumes that it’s Heph just talking to himself while he’s working, however, Kurogane’s the one who points out that it doesn’t sound like talking, it sounds more like...humming? And sure enough that’s exactly what it is - they can hear his voice through the door, humming along to some kind of tune without any music, and the two Crafters share a baffled look before curiosity gets the better of them and they crack open the door.

It’s like something out of a sit-com; they peer into the room through the gap in the door and immediately catch sight of Hephaestus. His back’s turned to them as he tinkers with something at his workbench, the baritone hum of his voice sifting through the room in something that sounds suspiciously like a lullaby as he fiddles with whatever’s in his hands. 

Kurogane’s shocked - it’s never once come up before that Heph had a penchant for singing, but even if he’s just humming it’s clear that he’s got an impressive singing voice on him. It makes the guildmaster wonder why he’s never mentioned it or even shown them. He guesses that it’s because Hephaestus is so shy about opening up when it comes to himself, and gets pretty testy whenever Kurogane or the other crafters try to coax him to open up more - but the thought that he’s kept it a secret all this time does bum him out a bit. Amatsumara on the other hand is surprised, but not quite to the extent Kurogane is; he’s caught the end of Heph’s little humming moments before but only right at the very end, so to hear him now definitely takes him aback. 

They stare for longer than they should, as the next moment is broken by the sound of Tvastar’s voice asking what’s wrong and the pair jump, whipping around to cover his mouth before he gets too loud. He’s about to ask what’s wrong when Tvastar hears Hephaestus’ voice, who at this point has upgraded from deep humming to the occasional lines of song lyrics dotted in-between, and just like that there’s now three of the crafters who are listening to Heph sing through the doorway. And of course it isn’t long before Takemaru notices them all crowded around the workshop door, because none of them are exactly subtle about what they’re doing.

With all four of them listening this goes down about as well as you’d expect, because all it takes is the wrong hand getting too close to the door and then it’s flying open - Kurogane and Tvastar go down with the door, yelling loud enough that even without the metal squeak Heph would have heard right away. Meanwhile, Tak tries to act as inconspicuous as possible and Amatsumara doesn’t even bother to save face, instead hoisting the two fallen crafters back onto their feet and greeting Hephaestus as he guides Kurogane and Tvastar to actually stand in the room. Hephaestus flounders between responses, switching between embarrassment and anger, then embarrassment again once he realizes that they caught him singing. His attempts to scold them for barging into his workshop are promptly cut off when the first words out of Kurogane’s mouth are excited questions about how long he’s been able to sing, and Heph finds himself getting flustered under the sudden slew of questions from both him and Tvastar quizzing him on what he was singing and how many songs he knows.

Talos, being a direct creation by Heph, does find himself disheartened to learn that his creator had such a wonderful ability and had never shared it with him. Granted, Talos has got quite a set of pipes on him as well, his voice having been constructed specifically to fit his ‘ideal’ persona, but it’s different from Heph’s given how he views his own voice, so he is upset to think that Hephaestus could possibly view his singing voice as imperfect. A part of him is also somewhat envious that he wasn’t the first one to learn about Hephaestus’ singing voice, as given that more times than not all of Talos’ time is spent around his creator, he’d assumed that he would have heard it at some point.

FF HEADCANON LIST

CRACKS KNUCKLES these are all imported from google docs bc thats where ive been keeping all my thoughts :] im not sure if theres any repeat HCs in here and im sorry if someones got to me before i have but these all came from my own brain !!! these are all very miscellaneous HCs but they generally revolve around vivosaurs and revival. some of them are rather macabre so a solid CW warning here for mentions of dinosaur body horror and death. ALSO SPOILERS FOR FOSSIL FIGHTERS 1 AND 2 BUT MOSTLY 2 LETS GO

modern boneysaurs/zombiesaurs

i think it is entirely possible to replicate a boney/zombiesaur outside of whatever sorcery zongazonga used to resurrect them in the first place. i think its relatively well known undead vivosaurs are a direct result of ZZ and his ancient tournament, and although zombiesaurs are usually claimed to be used in such tournaments most often, i think boneysaurs are just a variant of that but where less used due to weakness and general incompatibility. theyre all undead vivosaurs. thats it. on to the meat of this headcanon, boney/zombiesaur resurrection: i think zombiesaurs could be the result of attempting to revive a deceased vivosaur, while boneysaurs might be caused by man or machine malfunction while reviving a fossil. i think this might be an interchangeable effect: zombiesaurs might emerge from resurrections, and boneysaurs might emerge from revivals, although altogether i think this entire phenomenon is extremely rare. fossil revival goes entirely against the laws of nature and thus, nature must step in at some points to attempt to stop the process, although common fossil park high-tech machinery probably stops most instances like this from happening. boneysaurs emerging from failed revivals are almost always the cause of very poor cleaning, (maybe attempting to revive a heavily damaged, failed fossil head?) or outdated/unkempt fossil revival machinery. boney/zombiesaurs were so common in ZZ’s time because of such poor methods of revival. at some point during a “doomed” fossil revival, the skin and flesh of the vivosaur its supposed to resemble never quite “renders” in. the skin is registered and stitched together, but only holds the bones in place with an unknown black substance, leaving it void black in the same way a texture in a video game may just fail to load. presumably boneysaurs are almost always immediately dead in the revival chamber after the process is over due to lack of functioning organs, skin, etc, without some kind of support or magic. or maybe they are magic- every bad unnatural part of a revival machine fused into one being, and thats what allows them to live on. on the other hand, this could mean any type of boneysaur could emerge from any dinosaur- pterosaurs, therizinosaurs, raptors, maybe- maybe- just a thought, maybe even super revival vivosaurs could have this effect happen too. so, so rarely though. so rarely, its probably never even happened before in recorded vivosaur revival history. 

as for zombiesaurs- this phenomenon could happen when a recently deceased vivosaur is attempted revival. recently deceased, as in, undecayed flesh-still-in-tact. i imagine this happens much more often than boneysaurs- although, i dont think many people are trying to revive dead vivosaurs.

zombiesaurs, fresh from the revival chamber, are almost always damned and in pain, and serve as a reminder to fighters that the laws of nature can only be twisted so far, and they are best be put down. presumably no fossil cleaning facilities will allow a fighter to attempt to revive a dead vivosaur due to the danger and the frightening, disturbing nature of zombiesaurs. fossil damage + neon goo every fighter has encountered the bright purple (green in the OG FF) substance that appears during cleaning when a fossil is too damaged in one area. this material wouldnt be produced from the fossil itself, but rather generated by the fossil cleaning machinery when it detects damage within the bone, kinda like a 3D printer. this is why fossil cleaning is so meticulous, and why it has to be done in such specific conditions with heavy surveillance and a tight time limit. this prevents the vivosaur from having broken bones when it is revived- it is a bright, obvious substance, and it feels much like a warm, firm jelly with a hard, synthetic core that sews bones together. maybe its different in other regions, explaining the color difference amongst games. it is almost completely unnoticeable when the vivosaur is revived, nearly perfectly mimicking bone and flesh to prevent issues later on in the vivosaurs life. as good of a bone mimic as it might be, i think a very heavily damaged bone would still be a weak point during battle or an area of pain or irritation for the vivosaur. that is why it is best to clean your fossils as well as you can. maybe this goo is designed to be replaced with real bone by the vivosaurs body later in life, but i have yet to think about that too much. perhaps its soft enough to be destroyed and replaced by the body’s natural healing functions, but hard enough to act as bone? And perhaps thats why its best to let your vivosaur rank up (rest+heal) before taking them to battle. UNRELATED HEADCANON- GUHNASH COULD HAVE HAD A COOLER DESIGN. I DONT LIKE HIM HE LOOKS LIKE A TADPOLE. i have a vision in mind for a cooler guhnash redesign- i like the snake-ish look, but maybe he could be like. an infinitely long being. nobody knows where he starts or ends. a head at the front of an infinitely massive body that consumes everything, and nobody knows where the eaten planets goes. kinda like a jörmungandr-like being. idk i just think a “planet eater” with living brains should be more eldritch and god-like and mysterious. ANYWAYS vivosaur ecosystems? there is literally no way a vivo ecosystem wouldnt form. NO WAY. so many dinosaurs and seeing how OFTEN they are abandoned- refer to the opening scene of fossil fighters champions- it would not be any surprise feral vivosaurs wouldnt breed and form small ecosystems among themselves and around fossil parks. its not an uncommon sight to see pterosaurs flying overhead or sauropods munching on trees, although id bet theropods and more dangerous vivosaurs would have teams of park rangers to keep them under control. refer once again to FFC opening scene. this would explain the seemingly infinite amount of fossils in the dig sites, how you can find vivosaurs in only specific areas- although thats leading into a rather dark topic and i would rather not talk about it right now LOL i will leave that open to interpretation. jurassic park knock off SOME OTHER LITTLE MISC HCS TOO SHORT TO WRITE ENTIRE TOPICS ABOUT: because ZZ is a mix of boneysaur and zombiesaur and hes also an ancient sorcerer he smells fucking rank. so fucking bad. hes got maggots and shit hes only held together by magic but somehow he kicks ass. but hes fucking stinky so at what cost boneysaurs have no concept of feelings and arent really desirable as vivos and zombiesaurs only know rage and pain, also making them undesirable, for very very good reasons. they are taboo to talk about among fighters but most of the time they are only myths because of how rare they are feral vivosaurs dont have medals, only revived vivos do. that means they are standalone animals and they are also generally undesirable for fighters but they can still be tamed, if one wishes. theres way, WAY more fossil parks and dig sites than shown in the games. fossil battling is as well known and used as much as people love music and video games in the fossil fighters universe. vivosaurs are an essential part of society, although there is often controversy on the ethics of fossil battles and revival. pokemon knock off alright thats all i feel like typing for now thanks for reading this far lads. i love dinossuars. i wanna write some things on dinaurians but maybe later after ive introduced saar here :)

Herman raises an eyebrow. The kid wants to learn how to overcharge a generator? It’s not an easy task and took Herman several weeks to perfect. Herman promises to get back to him later, causing a disappointed Max to wander off

Herman writes a numbered step-by-step idiot-proof guide to learning the technique, even throwing in a few rough sketches of the machines in case Max doesn’t know what some of the terms mean

When he finds Max and gives him the instructions with a smug grin, Max’s whole face lights up, until he looks at the papers and his smile drops into a disappointed frown. “Is something the matter?” Herman asks, prepared to give the young man a stern lecture for questioning his hard work. “Ah well, this ‘s mighty fine of ya Her--err, sir! Thanks!” Max drawls nervously before sprinting off with the papers

Herman doesn’t see Max for the next few days and assumes the scatter-brained youth gave up on learning altogether. He’s in the middle of complaining to Philip about Max squandering all his efforts, when Philip points out a crucial fact, “You know Max can’t read, right?”, and Herman feels like smacking himself in the face for not thinking of the possibility sooner

Herman swallows his pride and ventures to Coldwind farm to teach Max his technique the old-fashioned way, expecting to find the young man moping in a corner somewhere or perhaps making stick animals or whatever it is hillbillies do

Instead, he finds Max by the generator in the shed, hunched over and tinkering with the machine with papers scattered about the entire floor. “Hiya Herman!” Max greets him enthusiastically, wiping his oily hands on his overalls

“Max, what are you doing? What are these?” Herman questions and glances at the papers

“I did it! Look!” Max exclaims and gives the generator a solid kick, short-circuiting it and causing it to spark violently. “I uhh--I couldn’t read ya book, so I look’d at tha pictures ya drew an looked inside a genny to see wha I was s’posed ta do,” Max explains, gesturing to a pile of papers next to him where he’s--Herman inhales sharply in surprise--drawn pages upon pages of mechanical diagrams of the machines, pinpointing the exact locations the kick will impact!?

Herman is at a loss for words, completely taken aback by the other man’s resourcefulness and technical skill. He sees Max looking at him nervously, clearly awaiting some sort of response from his tutor. “Excellent work, boy. Would you like to accompany me in my next generator experiment?” Herman compliments and Max goes beet red and shuffles his feet awkwardly. “Tha’ would be mighty fine, sir.” Max mumbles

Max starts spending a lot of time in Herman’s office, assisting him with any research that requires a knack for machinery. Herman often visits Max’s tool shed in the farm, where they test many of his ideas and Max tinkers with the generator to troubleshoot for or fix any failures

Herman, recognizing and impressed by Max’s potential, demands the younger learn how to read so he can further participate in the research. Max is giddy at the prospect, but after a couple of disastrous attempts Herman admits he’s a lousy teacher and bribes Sally to teach Max by offering the redhead unlimited access to his office

Max is happy and making great progress with his reading, and Herman feels a strange sort of pride for his protege. That’s why it takes him completely by surprise when one day, Max decides to kiss him out of the blue. Herman pulls the man off of him and demands answers. “Just what do you think you’re doing!?” he asks sternly. “S-sorry! ‘S just, me an’ Sally were readin’ them books a-an I thought ‘s what people do, like them fellas Heathcliff an’ Cath’rine--”

“Of course Sally has you read that fictional garbage over the anatomy books I provided,” Herman sighs and runs a hand over his face in exasperation. “’M sorry Herman, Sally said ‘s what people do when ‘ey luv some’un,” Max explains, shuffling awkwardly. “Hold on. Love? Me?” Herman asks, voice uncharacteristically breaking into an even higher octave from the shock. Of all the stupid things--

“Ya! I luv ya,” Max says without hesitation, beaming. “And you want to kiss... me,” Herman clarifies, trying to wrap his head around this sudden turn of events. “Already did. An’ I wanna kiss ya more an’ do naughty things with ya in a hayloft,” Max cheerily remarks. Herman feels his brain short-circuit from the implications coming out of his seemingly innocent apprentice’s mouth. “Come ‘un, I ain’t dumb, I know wha Evan ‘n Phil dis’pear in tha woods fer,” Max grins with a slight blush.

Herman’s always been a quick thinker, so he manages to run through all possible outcomes of this scenario in his head. It’s stupid. He should reject Max. But he can’t say that he’s not intrigued, and seeing the kid’s enthusiasm... Herman finally just shakes his head fondly and allows himself to lean into Max’s personal space. “I know you’re anything but dumb, kid. I also don’t think you know what you’re getting yourself into,” he can’t suppress a dark chuckle, half expecting the younger to feel intimidated--

“Try me, pops,” Max challenges instead, grinning. “That’s it you little shit--” Herman has the time to give an idle threat before Max’s laughing mouth shuts him up with a kiss

It’s not the most healthy relationship as there’s a clear power imbalance but Herman is kind of a narcissist and gets off on it. Though he does genuinely care about Max, he’s not gentle and you’ll never hear him use the phrase “Are you sure?”

Max loves being praised both inside and outside the bedroom. Herman is stingy with his compliments, only giving them when he’s genuinely impressed, which makes them all the more special to Max

Max has a daddy kink ok I don’t make the rules. He doesn’t realize it and probably doesn’t even know what it means, but Herman is perceptive. When he takes a gander and urges Max to call him ‘daddy’ during one of their trysts he doesn’t expect it to do much of anything, but hearing his lover cry out the word and almost spill himself makes him realize it’s a control thing and now he’s very much on board

Herman tops at first, but once he sees Max’s enthusiasm and the younger learns to channel his energy, they fall into a habit of Max topping. Herman discovers himself to be a bit of a power bottom and begrudgingly admits that Max fucks better than him, making Max’s confidence soar

The other killers quickly find out about their relationship because Max can’t shut up about his adoration of Herman. They get some snide comments from the Legion brats and a blushing Amanda threatening Max to “Stop oversharing your fucking sex life or I’ll reverse beartrap your dick”, but nobody seems to really care what they do behind closed doors--with the exception of one

Evan is pissed, being somewhat of a father figure to Max and 1000% ready to bash in Herman’s skull for seemingly taking advantage of the younger, impressionable man. Max is upset a the accusations, Herman pretends to give a shit about Evan’s opinion because of Max, and eventually Philip and Sally have to get involved to calm Evan down, vouching for Herman’s non-sinister intentions and Max’s ability to make his own decisions

what do you think oscar hobbies are besides reading

Once upon a time, many Pinehead headcanons ago, I had this idea of Oscar liking to write stories a hobby. This was back when I believe I thought it would be a pretty neat idea if Oscar used to have very vivid dreams about Ozpin and the other Wizards when he was younger and used to chronicle his dreams as stories in journals he kept as a young boy. I also had this idea of Oscar being really good at drawing but lacking the confidence in his skill and not really considering himself an artist per say.

Anyways, if I had to pick another favourite pastime for Oscar besides reading, it would probably be writing. If not that then perhaps Oscar might enjoy gardening or baking. I basically can see Oscar liking activities where he gets to use his hands. Basically he’s like the Handy Mandy of the hero team only without the talking tools.

Oh! This reminds me of one of my older Pinehead headcanons of Oscar being good with stuff that allowed him to craft things with his hands---like I had this idea where Oscar was good at engineering or stuff like maybe woodwork---since the theory I had was that back on the Pine Family farm, since the Pines lived in a neck of Anima far away from the protection of the main kingdom, the Pines basically had to depend on everything for themselves and the family of farm bred folk had to learn a variety of skills besides farming to survive.

This included gunmanship and workmanship to build traps for their security against the Grimm. They also had to know a bit about medicine and first aid in the event of an injury or sickness so that they wouldn’t have to make the long trip to the main kingdom. And of course, there’s all the farming and machinery maintenance that came with it.

There was a time before V7 where I really wanted Oscar to have an interest in engineering since he had to know how to do it back on the farm, thanks to his uncle who taught him everything he knew. Thus why I love the idea of Oscar being into woodwork---y’know building birdhouses, cupboards, chairs, tables because that’s what he learnt back home and use to help out with and thus he developed a natural liking for it too. Like imagine for us Rosegardeners if Oscar literally built Ruby her dream house when they grew older.

The same can be said for cooking. As much as I dislike the V6CH9 episode for failing to show Oscar’s character development, at least it revealed that our little prince canonically knows how to cook. Ironically enough, Oscar seems to be a better cook than Ruby since he was able to prepare the casserole all by himself; only messing up when he left it in the oven for too long while talking with everyone in the Cotta-Arc living room. Unlike Ruby who had to be scolded by Ren for nearly burning something as small as one part of the meal while helping to prepare it.

Now I wanna see Ruby and Oscar cook a meal together all by themselves; unsupervised without the other characters. I wonder how that would go and what kind of shenanigans will ensue.

So yeah, in a nutshell, if I had to pick other hobbies for Oscar to enjoy, it would definitely be woodwork or, in going with the canon, cooking. I think it’d be cute if Oscar was the type to cook whenever he felt stressed or the need to make someone feel better. Like imagine if…back in Mistral, Oscar was really, really shy to talk to Ruby for the few week after their first conversation and as a way of breaking the ice, he finds out from one of the JNR members---probably Nora---that Ruby loves chocolate chip cookies so he whips up a batch and secretly leaves it in her room with a note as his way of saying hi.

Or imagine if…Oscar is the type to bake like 100 cupcakes or whatever someone’s favourite dessert was as his way of apologizing. Like picture Ruby and Oscar getting into a small fight only for Oscar to bake Ruby a mountain of cookies of different sizes and colours just to say he’s super sorry so at that point, Ruby has no choice but to forgive the cute little cookie boy especially since she was going to happily take all of his delicious cookies including the one that he is since most Pineheads and Rosegardening Pineheads like to call Oscar a cookie XD
