I think there's a confussion regarding Fumiko's feelings toward Denji/CSM with some people already calling her "the first character who actually sees and cares about Denji for who he is" just after Asa, Power and Aki. No, it's more complicated than that. Fumiko already knew chainsaw man before Denji, like in the way fans idolize celebrities for their roles and come to care for the actors afterwards, her care for Denji is still tied to his alter ego self and heroic doings. That's totally different of what we saw of Asa, who knew Denji as a loser who sells rerolled cigarrettes to homeless people and plays as chair man in her school, and still she fell for him because they spent time together in the aquarium to know each other beyond that superficial level, same case for Aki and Power. Fumiko cares for Denji, she said it herself, but if it weren't for CSM she would have lived knowing him as "just another dude" out there.

It's easy to come to love/care for a person (more so if it's a kid) out of pitiness if you see them going through so much trauma, but that sentiment is just as deep as that. And that's not the case with the already mentioned above, who came to love Denji in his worsts and best.

tl;dr: Fumiko is just another type of CSM fan.

man chainsaw man hits you in the gut so hard when aki looses himeno her influence on his life is felt in so many little things and you can tell that her absence kills a part of him. I love the little things like his smoking and his pierced ears that serve as a permanent reminder of her influence on his life. I love how chainsaw man builds up its relationships because not only does it show you the wordless love people share for each other but it also makes the inevitable loss so much more crushing. I read chainsaw man about two years ago! aki was always my favorite... when I saw him in the first chapter he was introduced I was like, yes. this is the character for me. but after I reread chainsaw man was when I grew really obsessed with him haha

I think people are taking the panic barganing too literally but the subtext of a potential SA trauma from Denji wouldn't be out-of-pocket considering his abusive relationship with the yakuzas and his father evoking in this repulsion toward men/misandry. The thing is, Denji doesn't like Yoshida at all, he finds him annoying and an asshole, but if it comes to Nayuta, he's "willing to have gay sex" if it secures her safety. Guys, I think it's an example, an hyperbole of that statement: he is capable of doing anything for his loved ones, to the point to do the thing he idolizes and respects the most (sex) with another man. Since he couldn't do much to protect Aki and Power in the past, his dignity, integrity, desires and preferences aren't important to him anymore. That's heartbreaking.
