guys I asked ai to write a poem about shifting realities and it's just lovely:))
In the realm of the unknown, where shadows play, I find myself lost, in a world of gray. But then I see, a glimmer of light, A chance to shift, to a new reality tonight.
I take a deep breath, and let go of the pain, And step into the unknown, with a heart that's not in vain. I find myself in a world, where love is real, Where every moment, is a chance to feel.
I see the beauty, in every place, And the love that's waiting, in every face. I feel the warmth, of a new sun's rays, And the joy that's overflowing, in every way.
I live with things, that I love and adore, And experience exciting things, that I've never known before. With my partner by my side, we dance and sway, In perfect harmony, in every moment of the day.
We laugh and love, and live in the moment, And every day, is a chance to make it count. We explore the world, and all its wonders, And every moment, is a chance to discover and to ponder.
I know that this reality, may shift and change, But I can always return, to this world so strange. For in the depths of my heart, I hold the key, To this wondrous place, where I'm truly free.
And though the moments may seem to fade, I know that this reality, will never be betrayed. For in the infinite expanse, of this shifting plane, I'll always find my way, back to this domain.

cannot believe we are at a time where I’m seeing AI get involved with everything. cannot believe that it’s all rolling out this quickly without a general acknowledgment of “hmm hey we’re not all sure what the repercussions of this might be.” “hey, there’s a good chance this might alter absolutely everything.” like. it’s changing the art landscape. the writing industry. the job market completely. I even just got an email from a vibrator company that they’re going to implement an AI chat feature. I don’t want any of this. I do not want to interact with AI at all. I don’t want it in my life. it feels bewildering that this is integrating so widespread, so rapidly, when I cannot shake the feeling this is a very bad idea.

The difference between Genly and Estraven’s character voices is that Genly narrates events with weary resignation and Estraven narrates them with barely-suppressed rage.

Oshi No Ko Episode 20 Review - If Only It Were A Dream
The Stage Play arc finally closes its curtains, but there is still the mystery around Ai’s lover and Aqua’s father that still needs to be solved, even if it’s just an important clue. To be honest, I really liked the spotlight the finale of the arc gave to Aqua as he needed it. However, there are some gripes I have with the episode.
Tumblr media
Aqua’s emotional acting was great in terms of how it was animated and the vocal performances by his voice actor Takeo Otsuka. I just didn’t like how the anime didn’t give an opportunity to have someone in the audience comment on his acting or even give someone a reaction. The only person who reacted was Kana who was surprised about his emotional acting, but also noticed how pained he look when doing it. Like, seriously, could you have at least given some budget to have Ruby, Miyako, or even Gotanda react to his acting? Even when the performance was done, no one really commented on Aqua’s whereabouts or even his acting. I know that Aqua’s acting is still below Kana and Akane’s but given all that effort to pull out that emotional acting, someone could have at least given him some compliments or thoughts.
The part where Aqua thinks about what could’ve been with Ai was super sad. If only Ai’s death was a nightmare and that when he woke up, she’s there all bubbly and chipper. If only that were the case, Aqua and Ruby wouldn’t have suffered so much. The shadow that plagues him isn’t Goro, but the manifestation of the Aqua that couldn’t do anything that day—a manifestation of his guilt and regrets. Though, I did feel like Aqua worded it in a way that it’s both Goro and little Aqua in a way… I did like how Aqua uses his thoughts about a “good ending” with Ai and projects them onto Akane during the play.
Tumblr media
I was surprised by the twist of Himekawa being Aqua’s half-brother. Meaning they have the same father but different mothers… I have this odd feeling it’s going to be a lot more complicated it seems to be. Maybe they do have the same father, but not in the way Aqua expects it. This revelation is going to be super awkward later on, I bet. Imagine Aqua telling Ruby that they have a half-brother. Family reunions are going to be super awkward. Despite that, Himekawa and Aqua don’t look anything alike, but they have the same aura in a way. Maybe that’s genetic? Is their father stoic and keeps to himself?
Tumblr media
I did like how the stage play concluded, however. Kana and Akane acknowledge each other’s talents, though begrudging on Kana’s part. Melt and Sakuya get along now. Melt, Yoriko and Abiko seem to be on good terms and most of all, Abiko and GOA are friendly to each other now. It’s nice seeing how a group effort can change so many things in a positive way. My only gripe is that the outro for the play doesn’t really need to be super long. It took forever with characters bowing and having cute moments like Aqua carrying Akane down the steps with Kana giving a disgusted look.

By the way, there won’t be an episode next week due to production issues. Instead, it’s going to be a recap that features an interview with Megumi Han (Kana) and Manaka Iwami (Akane) and the narration by Aqua (Takeo Otsuka). That means what happens after the reveal will be revealed in two weeks, on September 11. Until then, I’m going to keep chuckling over Kana getting drunk over ginger ale. What are your thoughts on this episode?

If I had to like, analyze why the writers at Kotaku are specifically so neurotic about AI art right now, it's because they're suffering from a terminal case of false consciousness regarding their class status. It seems evident a lot of them think of themselves as like, Independent Journalists and Cultural Workers who simply use Kotaku as a platform to publish their Independent and Original Cultural Work. In reality of course they don't own a single word they've written - G/O Media and Jim Spanfeller do. However, they would never dare to think of themselves as something as degrading and humiliating as a worker, or at least a worker in the Marxist sense of the word (sidenote: fuck radlibs for redefining "worker" as "someone who does something"). They went to college for fuck's sake. They go to work a block over from the MoMA. How dare you assume they're something as lowly as a wage slave. Instead, they identify themselves with the mystified small artisans and "content creators" they worship, who do own their own content, brands, trademarks, etc. And so when they see something that presents a modest threat to the class of people they identify themselves with, but materially are not themselves a part of, they attack it in full force. Quite fascinating really. It would cool if a funky German guy wrote about this 150 years ago or whatever.
