From instructions on how to opt out, look at the official staff post on the topic. It also gives more information on Tumblr's new policies. If you are opting out, remember to opt out each separate blog individually.
Please reblog this post, so it will get more votes!

PSA: Unauthorized Use of My Art & Data Misuse on CivitAI
Hey, Tumblr!
I'm posting this as a warning about a platform called CivitAI. I discovered that my original art was being used without my permission in one of their AI models. When I tried to file a takedown request, I had to give them personal details (phone number, email, and original art files).
What happened next?
Zero follow up from CivitAI, except a banner on the offending model's page claiming they're "discussing it" with me-though they never actually reached out.
I started getting an overwhelming flood of spam calls-50 in about two weeks-right after I submitted my information.
This is a huge violation of trust and privacy. Please be careful when dealing with any site that requires personal data for takedown requests.
If you have any similar experiences or questions, feel free to message me. Spread the word to protect other artists and keep our art and data safe.
Thank you for reading and stay safe!

Pinterest has started training their genAI on your data and it's turned on by default
To turn if off, go to your settings, then "privacy and data," then it's just under ad personalization (which you can also op out of, while you're there)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pinterest is already riddled with AI slop, and it doesn't seem like it'll get better any time soon...

still confused how to make any of these LLMs useful to me.
while my daughter was napping, i downloaded lm studio and got a dozen of the most popular open source LLMs running on my PC, and they work great with very low latency, but i can't come up with anything to do with them but make boring toy scripts to do stupid shit.
as a test, i fed deepseek r1, llama 3.2, and mistral-small a big spreadsheet of data we've been collecting about my newborn daughter (all of this locally, not transmitting anything off my computer, because i don't want anybody with that data except, y'know, doctors) to see how it compared with several real doctors' advice and prognoses. all of the LLMs suggestions were between generically correct and hilariously wrong. alarmingly wrong in some cases, but usually ending with the suggestion to "consult a medical professional" -- yeah, duh. pretty much no better than old school unreliable WebMD.
then i tried doing some prompt engineering to punch up some of my writing, and everything ended up sounding like it was written by an LLM. i don't get why anybody wants this. i can tell that LLM feel, and i think a lot of people can now, given the horrible sales emails i get every day that sound like they were "punched up" by an LLM. it's got a stink to it. maybe we'll all get used to it; i bet most non-tech people have no clue.
i may write a small script to try to tag some of my blogs' posts for me, because i'm really bad at doing so, but i have very little faith in the open source vision LLMs' ability to classify images. it'll probably not work how i hope. that still feels like something you gotta pay for to get good results.
all of this keeps making me think of ffmpeg. a super cool, tiny, useful program that is very extensible and great at performing a certain task: transcoding media. it used to be horribly annoying to transcode media, and then ffmpeg came along and made it all stupidly simple overnight, but nobody noticed. there was no industry bubble around it.
LLMs feel like they're competing for a space that ubiquitous and useful that we'll take for granted today like ffmpeg. they just haven't fully grasped and appreciated that smallness yet. there isn't money to be made here.

If anyone's on the (super uncool but sometimes necessary in order to get a job) website Linkedin, they have made AI data collecting opt-OUT.
So settings and privacy → data privacy → Data for Generative AI Improvement → Off
Tumblr media
While you're there, dedicate a good 10 minutes to going through the rest of the settings. THERE ARE SO MANY.
And they're all turned on.

Hey everyone,
Today is the last day to possibly opt out of Meta (Facebook/Instagram)'s AI program and there is a way to opt out if you are trying to protect your data privacy.
Please do what you can to save your art and data before it's too late. Edit/Update: It may not be applicable to the US because people living in Europe have the direct ability to opt out-- but US citizens can still submit the form for consideration.

I funking hate Facebook.
What the fuck is this shit? This can't be legal right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe the "I don't give Facebook consent to do XYZ" status update folks had the right idea.
Under the GDPR anyone has the right to withdraw personal information or ask that it is destroyed. In most circumstances - and that should include Facebook. Like, this could very easily be brought up against Facebook if it presses on ahead with this anyway.
I've only just woken up but someone please tell me this is fightable.

Hey y'all, this is for everybody that has an iPhone
My phone updated to iOS 18.3.1 last night and immediately when I unlocked it the first time, it asked me to set up Apple Intelligence, even though I had turned that off when I first got the phone. So, here's how you turn off Apple Intelligence:
1) go to Settings and scroll to the "Apple Intelligence & Siri" tab
Tumblr media
2) Toggle off "Apple Intelligence"
Tumblr media
3) Back in the regular Settings menu, scroll down the to bottom and select "Privacy & Security"
Tumblr media
4) Scroll down and select "Apple Intelligence Report" in the Transparency Logs section
Tumblr media
5) In the drop down menu, select Off
Tumblr media
6) You will get a pop up that says "Stop recording Apple Intelligence activity?" Click Ok
Tumblr media
This is sincerely the most annoying and sneaky way to add AI to devices. I wouldn't have even seen the Apple Intelligence Report if I hadn't been trying to mess around with FindMyiPhone
