This week's newsletter from AthensLive is out:
* What does “without too much of a humanitarian cost” mean?
* How Greece is involved in the rising tensions in the Middle East
* ‘Greek Watergate’ - A testimony and a reportage
The Greek PM visited Israel this week, providing full support to the country. At the same time, the Greeks seem divided on whose side they are on as to the conflict; slightly more are those siding with the Palestinians.
US forces use the Greek bases of Souda in Crete and Elefsina in Attica to station their support aircraft and host Special Operation Forces. At the same time, authorities in Greece seem worried that the Israel-Palestinian war could trigger “terrorist attacks” in the country.
Greek Justice has done nothing for 18 months to prosecute people about the wiretapping scandal. Yet, it prosecutes members of the Hellenic Authority for Communication Security and Privacy - ADAE, said ADAE president Christos Rammos, testifying to the European Parliament LIBE Committee. A report also revealed that action by the Top Court may have resulted in not unveiling the possible connection between the Greek government and the Predator.
It cannot be recommended strongly enough to read and share this week's updates on the events and developments in Greece here: https://steadyhq.com/en/athenslivegr/posts/65f30d51-0287-4e11-bcc6-41673672dc80

Wrong: Ada Lovelace invented computer science and immediately tried to use it to cheat at gambling because she was Lord Byron's daughter.
Right: Ada Lovelace invented computer science and immediately tried to use it to cheat at gambling because that was the closest you could get in 1850 to being a Super Mario 64 speedrunner.

IT'S DONE This was actually one of the very first ideas I wanted to draw for skk, because (as someone rightly pointed out in the tags) they are just so in synchro when they work together, I can't help but think that would translate for dancing as well

You can’t win as a woman in fiction. Be too positive, you become a Mary Sue, have flaws and those flaws are why almost nobody likes you. Be moderate, you have wet-cabbage personality, be exuberant, you are an unrealistic example. Have strong morals, and you’re badly developed, be morally corrupt and you’re hated with such vigour fans will send hate mail to the actress who plays the character. Be kind and soft and in love, you’re a representation of sexism, be cruel, harsh and cold and you’re just a bitch. Be a complex, realistic, ambiguous character, and either your flaws or your positive traits will be ignored or blown out of proportion and into oblivion. There is no winning for female characters.

This week's newsletter from AthensLive is out:   Banning parties on ideological grounds
* “The court went an unneeded step further and used ideology as a criterion to ban a party from running”  *   More of a farce than a debate  * “The fiscal situation is falsified; Far from being rosy, we are at the edge of the cliff”
- are the main headlines to be found inside this highly informative weekly must-read from and about Greece. Greece is slipping towards ‘Orbanisation,’ a renowned Public Law professor and President of the European Constitutional Law Centre acknowledged. Most worryingly, Greece’s Top Court, aided by ND lawmaking, has opened Pandora’s box for parties to be banned based on their ideology. The “Greek Watergate” and the apparent cover-up effort is a major blow to Greek democratic polity, the same expert warned, while the PEGA Committee was publishing a damning report for Greece as to the scandal. At the same time, the political leaders ‘debate’ was marked by journalists’ non-freedom, while DiEM25 denounced its exclusion from government-friendly oligarch media. Finally, former Finance Minister Alekos Papadopoulos made a dramatic plea to the three governmental parties: Fiscal data have been presented rosy while they are grim, he wrote. You should make a proper fiscal assessment and join forces so that the country does not enter an economic crisis yet again.
