#A) we never see Luke kill ANYONE in the books

I hate the takes that try to amount to Luke being less "humane", "kind" or "loving" towards other demigods than Percy ngl. Because they all just completly negelect the fact that the main motivation Luke had for what he did, the reason he stated at the very beginning for his acts, is an ultimatly altruistic love for demigod kind.
Now did the guy do some fucked shit? Deffos. But that doesn't change that first and foremost, his goal was a "Golden Age for Demigods." Not glory and power for himself, but prosperity for everyone.
Hell we can see even before his turn to Kronos how kind he was! I mean, he pretty much immideatly took in Annabeth as we can see in the Diary of Luke Castellan. And he must have earned himself the reputation he had in camp pre-betrayal somehow, and considering how he only joined Kronos shortly before kicking off Zeus' Master Bolt that must have come from his genuine personality.
Like....I think it's just so tragic that Luke's own humanity is ripped from him time and time again.
#and before you come at me with âbut he killed demigodsâ#A) we never see Luke kill ANYONE in the books#B) During the Battle of Manhatten that was Kronos. Not Luke. Luke had no influence or part in Kronos' actions#And last but not least#C) Percy in that case killed and harmed just as many demigods as Kronos did during the BoM by blowing up the Princess Andromeda#âoh but he told them to fleeâ They were on a ship in the middle of the oceans minutes before the whole thing went boom#bffr we all know that âwarningâ was worthless#percy knew the death toll damn well and still did it- yet he somehow never gets that brought up in convos around his kindness and humanity#pjo#luke castellan#percy jackson and the olympians

Snow and Flame -2- |Cregan Stark X Velaryon!Reader|
Following the death of Luke, Jace and his sister return to Dragonstone. What she doesn't expect is to hear from Lord Stark so soon after her departure. His missive only serves to cause her to fall further for the young Lord, and Jace tells his twin sister not to miss out on this opportunity for happiness.
Part One
A/N: Thank you so so much for your support on my first part. I have admittedly not read the books, almost bought them tonight but didn't want to spend close to $100 on the box set. SO I'm really just going off of the show. I'm sure there are mistakes in this, as I am only human and highly dyslexic. But I appreciate the love and hope you enjoy this nonetheless.
The following days are torture for you. You wished for nothing more than to return to the North where you felt oddly safe, so far away from the conflict. Your stepfather, Daemon, made a grave error in judgment and sent assassins into the Red Keep to kill Aemond, only they didnât find him, instead killing Aegonâs son, Jeahaerys. The smallfolk started to call your mother a kinslayer and cruel. Though you know she would never order such a thing.Â
âPrincess, a raven for you.âÂ
You hum and hold your hand out for the missive, spotting the Stark sigil. A smile spreads across your lips. You canât help but look around to see if anyone is paying attention to you before you unfurl the scroll.Â
Creganâs handwriting fills your eyes, talks of how he already misses your presence and how sorry he is about your loss. He writes of the summer snow, slowly starting to thicken as winter draws closer. How despite the cold, you might even enjoy Winterfell in itâs natural season.Â
The thought of him thinking of you in his home makes heat stir in your belly. You clutch the letter close to your chest, remembering how jealous you were when he and Jace swore oaths to one another and sealed them in blood.Â
You thought it unfair that you were excluded. You could understand it now though, why you werenât allowed. They swore an oath of brotherhood, and you didnât think of Cregan as a brother. Not with the way desire built up within you during your stay at Winterfell.Â
âWhat are you doing, sister?â Jace calls from your doorway.Â
âJacaerys,â You stand quickly, shoving the missive behind your back, âI didnât hear you come in.âÂ
âYes, I could tell,â He smirks at you, âWhat do you have?âÂ
âNo-nothing,â You shake your head, tucking the paper into the sleeve of your dress.Â
âOh, it is something,â He laughs, reaching for your hand, âCome now, since when do we keep secrets?âÂ
âItâs just a message,â You roll your eyes, âFrom Lord Stark.âÂ
âFrom Cregan?â His eyebrows raise, âPray tell, why does Cregan write to you and not me?â
âJealous are we?â You question.Â
âHardly,â He snorts, âSo, what does Lord Stark say?â
You take a deep breath and pull the paper from your dress, smoothing it out once more. You recite most of the missive to your brother, leaving out how Cregan writes that he longs for you to return. Longs to see you once more. It makes your heart ache because you long to see him too.Â
âYouâre falling for him,â Jace points out, noticing how your demeanor shifts.Â
âHardly, brother,â You shake your head, trying to cover it up, âI barely know him. Unlike you who swore oaths in blood upon your first meeting.âÂ
He lets out a deep laugh, âYou were mad that I wouldnât let you, so you have no room to speak, dear sister.âÂ
You roll your eyes, opening a box to put your missive in. The box has a lock and you keep the key on a chain around your neck. Itâs where you hide all of your important things. You lock it away, a small smile playing on your lips.Â
He thinks of you enough to write to you mere days after you left him. The knowledge is enough to ease the pain of losing Luke. Your chest still threatens to cave in, but the pain is more bearable, knowing Lord Stark thinks of you.Â
Knowing Cregan thinks of you is enough to ease your aching heart.Â
âSo if he asked to take you to wife you would say no?âÂ
âI wouldnât have a choice, that would be up to mother,â You remind him, âShe wouldnât likely turn down such an alliance.âÂ
âWe already have the North,â He wiggles his eyebrows.Â
âYes, well, you might as well have married him yourself,â You snort.
He shakes his head, gripping the hilt of his sword. He was older than you, just by a few moments. Itâd come as a shock to the Maesters to discover that there were two of you. No one was as shocked as your mother though. The kingdom celebrated the birth of both of you, no one quite as much as your Grandsire, King Viserys. He loved you so. So much that he was blind to the truth in front of him, that his wife, Queen Alicent could easily see.Â
You spent your entire life trying to convince yourself that the rumors simply werenât true. And that you were a trueborn Velaryron, but in your heart you knew. Just as Jace and Luke knew.Â
âAre you going to write him back?â Jace questions.Â
âShould I not?âÂ
âCregan is a good man,â Is his only response.Â
You nod, knowing heâs more than right, âI wouldnât object,â You clarify, âIf he wanted to take me to wife.âÂ
âYouâve never been one for the fighting,â Jace observes, âYouâre much like Helena in that way., I suppose.âÂ
You nod, biting your lower lip, âI hate that weâre at war. I wish it to stop.âÂ
âYou wish for mother to give up her claim?â He questions, misunderstanding you.Â
âNo, never that. Too many have already died,â Your eyes begin to water, âButâŠif only there was a way for her to reclaim the throne without all of the bloodshed. At this rate the path will be paved in blood.âÂ
âIt already is,â Jace sighs, âBut I understand how you feel. I donât agree with it, but I understand it.âÂ
âI wouldnât want to leave you,â You start, âBut I would welcome the opportunity to leave all of this bloodshed behind.âÂ
âItâs only going to get worse,â He reminds you.Â
âMy point exactly.âÂ
He nods and then turns suddenly remembering why he was here, âA council meeting has been called. I was sent to get you.âÂ
âAnd youâre only now saying something?â You gasp, moving to your feet.Â
He shrugs and usures you out of the door of your rooms. Everyone is already assembled around the painted table by the time you arrive. Your mother, however, is absent. You look around the chambers. The meeting starts without her, word spread that Ser Criston Coleâs forces have doubled, at the very least.Â
You listen, saying quiet as they all say a dragon needs to go to war. There is no way around it. Cole will take Rookâs Rest without a second thought. Jace is in the middle of saying a dragon must be sent when your mother, the queen, finally joins the council.Â
Jace instantly demands to know where sheâs been and a volley ensues. You stay quiet, as you always do, letting your twin do the talking. But even you, in your grief, took note of your motherâs absence. It worried you to no end, not knowing where she had gone or why. But upon hearing she went to Kingâs Landing, you swore your heart stopped.Â
But when she says sheâll be the one to fly to war, you stop breathing. And when Jace urges her to send him, you swear you might faint. The thought of either of them being in danger is enough to send you over the edge. You cannot stand it. Never have been able to stomach the thought. Jace was right, youâre much like your aunt Helena in that regard.Â
Youâre about to say something, anything to help the fight, when Rheanys speaks up, saying they must send her. Meyles is the largest dragon that you have, and as Rheanys says, no stranger to battle.Â
The meeting seems to end then, having been decided who was going to war on your motherâs behalf, you withdraw quietly. So quietly you arenât sure anyone noticed you even left. You consider it your power, to sneak from a room, or move about the castle unnoticed by most. Youâve always been the quieter one, compared to the temper that fuels Jace. Heâs always run hotter than you, ready to act at a momentâs notice. Ready to fly off the handle and do something rash. Youâre more cool and calculated, you suspect youâre more like your father in that way. Either one of them.Â
You settle at the small table in your rooms and begin writing back to Lord Stark. You find yourself wishing more and more you could return to the North and be far away from this conflict. So you tell him just that. You tell him that you yearn for him as well, and that you were glad to hear from him so soon. You pour your heart into the letter, not sparing anything. You tell him that the war is really and truly beginning, and that there is no avoiding it now. You tell him that youâre scared of it.Â
Youâre honest with him, in a way that you didnât expect. And that night, you fall asleep holding his letter. Wanting to feel close to the Northern man.Â
News breaks the following morning that Rheanys and Meleys were lost at Rookâs Rest, and that Aegon, the pretender, was severely injured and is on deathâs door. Aemond is named regent in his stead, which is more dangerous than having Alicent herself on the throne. Because Aemond knows no end. He will do anything to secure his place. Including as reports say, sacrifice his own brother.Â
You feel it in the pit of your stomach, the dread. It fills you as you walk the halls of Dragonstone. The mood has shifted. If the war wasnât real with the death of Luke, itâs real now. And you find yourself wishing you could just vanish from Westeros all together and avoid all of this. You do not have it in yourself to go to war. Do not have it in you to fight on dragonback as will be expected of you.Â
âWhere have you been?â Jace questions, brows knitted together.Â
âIn hiding,â You sigh, closing your book.Â
âObviously,â He rolls his eyes, âIâve been trying to find you for hours.âÂ
âWell, you succeeded.âÂ
âAre you alright?â He asks you.Â
âMust I be?â You question.Â
âI know how hard this is for you,â He replies, âBut we need you, sister. We cannot win this war without you.âÂ
âYou need my dragon,â You clarify, âYou can do this without me, but not without her.âÂ
âNo, I need you,â He reassures you, âI cannot fight this without you. I need you by my side, I always have and I always will.âÂ
âYou cannot put this on my shoulders Jace,â You shake your head, âI cannot bear it. The thought of anything happening to you, or to Mother, or our brothersâŠI cannot.âÂ
âNothing will happen to me,â He promises, âIâm quick, and Iâm lucky.âÂ
âAnd inexperienced, as mother pointed out,â You remind him, âAnyone can be killed. We are not gods, as the smallfolk believe.âÂ
He sighs and joins you on your seat. There is nothing he can do to put your worries to rest, because he knows thereâs a chance he will be killed. There is a chance anytime he gets on his dragon and flies off. He wishes there was something he could do to ease your anxiety. Perhaps he would pay a visit to the Maesters for a draft to help you sleep better. He knows you wonât ask for it yourself.Â
âDid you write to Cregan?â He finally asks, seeking to change the subject.Â
He notes the way you almost smile, the way your eyes light up a little and your shoulders relax, âI did.âÂ
âGood,â He smiles, squeezing your shoulder, âI am glad.âÂ
âAs am I,â You admit.Â
âPerhaps heâll petition for your hand,â He shrugs, âThen youâll be able to get away from all of this afterall.âÂ
âIâd never wish to leave you, Jacaerys,â You tell him honestly, âYouâre half of my soul.â
âAnd youâre half of mine,â He assures you, âBut I would never wish for your unhappiness.âÂ
You nod, knowing he wouldnât. Jace might be hot headed, and quick to fly off, but he isnât selfish. Never selfish. Not when it comes to you at least. He would always put you first, it was his job to protect you and keep you happy. Always had been, ever since you were little.Â
He could survive without you, you were sure. But you needed to find out if you could survive without him. You knew, deep within your heart, that there would come a day when you would have to learn to live without him. You couldnât imagine Jace as an old man, sitting upon the iron throne. You hated that you couldnât, but it was the truth.Â
âI would never wish for your unhappiness either,â You tell him, biting back tears.Â
âShould he ask for your hand, donât turn him down,â Jace urges you, âBe happy with him in the North. Be safe.â
âYouâre telling me to leave?â You question.Â
He only shrugs and gives you a soft smile, âIâm telling you to be happy, however you need to achieve it.âÂ

Do you know something that I find really curious?
Is that in Ancient Greek, Greek Mythology, and Hellenic Polytheism, even tho we don't actually have the idea of "sin" there are a few things they and therefore, hellenic polytheistics shouldn't do, but interestingly enough the only thing that is likely, highly not encouraged to do, and mostly unforgiving in Hellenism, is HĂșbris.
I find it really interesting and curious, because I bet Rick knew about it when he wrote PJO and still decided to give Annabeth, one of his main characters, a fatal flaw that was the closest thing of what could be considered a "sin" in Ancient Greece (the society he was basing his story on).
I'm not saying "whoa, he wanted to make something." My personal opinion is that he just doesn't care, just like he doesn't care to make a better adaptation of the Gods, but I still find it interesting enough to rant about it.
+ it is really concerning see people treating her fatal flaw as something positive and to be cheered on, even in the literal book narrative, when in fact, It is not.
Excessive pride can be a sign of a narcissist behavior, what can lead to dangerous situations or to toxic relationships. And I see Rick playing too much with this edge in Perccabeth dynamics.
(I'm not saying she is narcissist, tho. I believe I have to make this as clear as possible here. There is a difference of having a trace of narcissism, and be diagnosticaded with it.)
Just to finish my thoughts, when I realized Perccabeth lost all the sparkle for me was when I've read one meta about someone who didn't like Annabeth's behavior towards Percy a long time ago. At that time I was an avid Perccabeth shipper, but I basically sat and tought about it, and made a mental exercise: If Percy was a woman, and Annabeth was a man, would their interactions still be considered cute and perfect in a relationship?
That was when I realized, no, it wouldn't be. And that was it for me.
No, I completely get it. I myself was a Percabeth shipper, I think everyone was at one point as most of us read these books at a young age. I am glad that all of us are seeing massive problems with the many canon relationships and other aspects of Riordan's terrible writing.
You give Rick Riordan too much credit. If you have checked out any recent pjo books, you can see how terrible the continuity is and how one dimensional the characters are becoming. So he certainly did not take into account the gravity of Annabeth's fatal flaw, it's repercussions or even itâs connotations in Greek myths.
Annabeth is, as I have said before, a character that always devolves through the lack of change in her attitude and the behavioral inconsistencies. She admits to her fatal flaw and how it endangers her in some instances but then never brings it up again. Doesn't do anything to actively improve on it either.
Her overall attitude remains condescending, judgemental, and heavily hypocritical. And that is putting it mildly.
The fact that she made Percy apologize for getting kidnapped against his will and then having his memory wiped out.
She repeatedly made negative or demeaning comments on his intelligence.
This should be enough of a giveaway in the first place.

Not to mention her horrifying treatment of Rachel and lack of remorse for it. Not a single apology made for it either. Or to Percy for acting as if she owned him.
Furthermore, her consistently violent actions. Now, even if they don't hurt Percy, it's still an extremely unhealthy manner of expressing her emotions.
Her repeated defense of Luke despite him putting Percy in mortal danger and attempting to kill Percy each time. Before anyone quotes they had a bond, they were family, I know, I do but by that time she had seen him do so multiple times and Thalia was family too, she understood right away that Luke was too far gone.
I also dislike the tendency of Rick and, therefore, the fandom to put Annabeth on a pedestal of she can do wrong. I have made multiple posts highlighting how Percy is canonically a better strategist than Annabeth and how Annabeth is certainly not the smartest demigod. Most knowledgeable, perhaps, but not the smartest.
To all the shippers, everyone agrees that the closest we get to absolutely perfect characterization of Percy is in Son of Neptune and Son of Sobek and the short story The Stolen Chariot. And the most obvious common thing between all these is the lack of Annabeth.
I am not saying Annabeth would ruin the book, but she does ruin Percy's character. Rick is so busy hyping her up for no absolute reason that it ends up demeaning Percy irrationally and illogically. And it happens every time.
Even if you blame later book characterizations of Annabeth on Rick Riordan's terrible writing, her early characterization had the same flaws. They are just now overtly apparent in the most recent books.
If the genders were reversed, this would be the paragon of a toxic relationship. I understand that there are excruciatingly few balanced heterosexual relationships that actually do it right and that the extreme nostalgia makes it hard for us to acknowledge any flaws on it but that's no reason to falsely advertise it as the perfect relationship. Not even close.
Not just due to these reasons but also because they have nothing in common nor do their goals align, and it's also a bit of a case of trauma bonding. Again, I have made individual posts on almost all these points
I don't think there's anything more that needs to be said on this matter, really, but feel free to ask.

The Great Scrunchy Search (Sylus x GN! Reader)
Synopsis: A dragon is protective of all his treasures, especially yours- much to Kieran and Lukeâs inconvenience
CW: None
AN: just a fun little blurb after reading the hair tie bit from Lil Sâ bday event. I thought it was too funny not to expand on a wee bit. I genuinely think Sylus would go insane if he thought he lost one of your favorite items đ all likes, comments, and reblogs are appreciated. Thank you for reading!
â€ïžđŠââŹâ€ïžđŠââŹâ€ïžđŠââŹâ€ïž
Luke and Kieran have seen a lot of silly things- partaken in even sillier things. Hell- they are the KINGS OF SILLINESS! If Sylus owns the N109 zone underground, then, Luke and Kieran are itâs mascots for tomfoolery.
However, this? This is just pure nonsense.
They had never walked into Sylusâ massive base to see such a disarray and mess everywhere- furniture overturned, blankets thrown about, books scattered, and drawers opened everywhere. Their boss was looking around like a mad man and Mephisto is scanning the rooms like a bomb could go off at any moment.
âUh boss?â
Sylus barks something incoherent to them and they just tilt their heads in confusion- a pair of red eyes popping up over a couch in the movie room. If looks could kill- they would no longer exist.
âDid you not hear me!?â He yells (which he never does) in panick, âhelp me find Y/Nâs scrunchy! Now! We donât stop until itâs found! Itâs their favorite one and WHERE DID IT GO!?â
Luke and Kieran look at each other- Sylus has officially lost it.
However, they donât complain and just immediately get to work helping their boss overturn his entire base, swim to the bottom of the pool and check each inch of the floor- again, pure silliness.
They had gone through every room- it had taken literal hours (Luke and Kieran, in spite of their disdain for cleaning, began slowly returning things to where they had been previously to lessen the mess later) before the Scrunchy was found, however, it wasnât at base.
RING! RING! RING!
âShit!â Sylus curses and pushes his sweat slicked hair out of his face, âKitten! To what do I owe the pleasure this early in my- is that your pink scrunchy?â
Kieran throws his hands up in exasperation and Luke melts to the floor dramatically. Did they seriously just do all that work for you to have the damn thing the whole time!?
âIt is,â you yawn, âI took it this morning before I left because I forgot my other one at work. Were you you looking for it?â
Sylus turns to look at the mess of a room behind him and gives Luke and Kieran a âdonât you say a word of this to anyoneâ look before gesturing for them to begin cleaning up.
âOh no, Kitten, not at all. I thought-â
Sylus leaves the room and the twins just look at each other.
If he doesnât come back to help clean? Well the twins have more than enough photo evidence to show you that he was in fact looking for your scrunchy.

Yes, I am making a reaction fic....... eventually lol
i know it says i started this back in 2023, but all i really did was make a cover. i didn't start making any chapters until a few months ago hehe
BUT ANYWAYS YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT! i am making a reaction/reading the books/watching the movies fic for arsenic blues!!!! in this case, it will be ror reacting to pjo
for anyone interested to learn more, go under the cut!
(this started off as me just giving you some info about cerulean cyanide, but then i ended up ranting about how much i loved the pjo tv show lol, soooo if you haven't watched it, don't go down)
first off, THIS IS MY FIRST TIME MAKING A REACTION FIC! i've read a lot of them, but i have no experience in actually making one. i'm kinda nervous ngl đ
secondly, i've already started... somewhat. i've copied all chapters of the lightning thief into a google doc and made necessary edits, but i haven't written any reactions... YET. i want to include the ror gods AND humans as members of the audience, and since i haven't written about the ror humans as thoroughly yet, i won't be writing the reactions until i get to act 2 of arsenic blues, since that's when the ror humans are introduced. this is important for me because i don't have their characterizations down yet, and won't until i actually start writing about them and their dynamics with percy. same goes with cĂș chulainn, he's a literal love interest, but won't get introduced until act 2!
thirdly, because of what i said up there ^ cerulean cyanide won't be published until act 2 is finished to avoid spoiling what happens during ragnarok and the god's apocalypse.
fourthly, IT WILL BE INTERMIXED WITH THE TV SHOW!!! i fucking LOVED the show and (most of) the changes that were made, so i'm totally going to add them into percy's past that the ror characters will be reacting to.
so what elements of the show should you expect to see? glad you asked!
POSEIDON đ
poseidon in the books is great, but i loooooove the new stuff they put in the tv show. in the books, we're mostly told that poseidon loves percy and there are times where it's shown, but it's kinda hard to pick up since the books are written in PERCY'S POV, and since poseidon is literally restricted from interacting with him, it's hard to notice how much he actually loves his son when he's not even allowed to be AROUND the dude who's perspective takes up the whole series.
but in the tv show, it's not just percy's perspective that's explored! that little moment poseidon had with sally told us SOOOO MUCH about how he actually felt for the both of them. and when he and percy finally met??? THE ANGST AND LONGING THEY BOTH SHOWED UHDFSIGVSVGD I LOVED IT SO MUCH
AND THE FACT THAT HE NOT ONLY SAVED PERCY FROM ZEUS BUT ALSO SURRENDERED??? HE GAVE UP HIS PRIDE AND PRIDE IS SUCH A HUGE AND IMPORTANT THING FOR GODS BUT HE GAVE IT UP WITH NO HESITATION AHHHHHHH đ
so yes, expect to see a lot of the poseidon scenes from the tv show
HERMES BEING AT THE LOTUS CASINO
i actually really like the fact that hermes was shown in here instead of the next season. some people were confused as to what the point was for having him in the casino and why he tricked the kids into staying at the casino longer, but i found this post on tumblr that explains why he could've been there:
in the last olympian, we (and percy) find out that hermes knew all along what luke's fate would be; that he would rebel against the olympians, bring forth kronos, become his host, etc. he knew ALL OF THAT. but he was never allowed to tell him (ancient laws), so he tried to CHANGE luke's fate in order to save him even though he knew it was pointless.
we get a bit of that in the tv show. hermes was there because he wanted to change luke's fate. he tricked the kids into staying at the casino longer so they would pass the deadline. war would come, and luke would get away with his thievery and nobody would know it was him because they're all too busy trying to kill each other. but ofc, like always, it didn't work because you can never change fate.
i love how the show showed us that hermes was trying to change his fate in the first season whereas in the books, it only started in the second book where he was introduced for the first time.
THE GODS' CRUELTY AND THEIR LOVE
the gods' cruelty and apathy was much more obvious in the show's first season compared to the first book. in the first book, most of the gods shown were jerks at best but the tv show really showed us how horrible of a family they are (most of them at least) to each other and their kids
like what show!ares said, his family loves to stab each other in the back, they love to hurt each other to get a higher leg up; they're not really a family. the audience and percy becomes VERY aware of that unlike in the books where it's more sugar-coated at the start.
we're shown very early on that they're not good people, but at the same time, we're shown that some of them DO care.
hephaestus was abused and mistreated by his family, but he refuses to be like them which is why he released percy from his trap; because he realizes that he and annabeth are good kids (ending the cycle). hermes loves his son and desperately wants to change his fate despite being told over and over again that its pointless. poseidon loves percy and wishes to be a proper family with him and sally, but isn't allowed to.
there are some good gods out there, which is why percy decided to stand by them instead of taking luke's offer to bring it all down. he's been shown that some gods ARE good. unlike in the first book where you don't really meet any decent gods, so book!percy honestly didn't have much of a reason to defend them, yet he did anyway when luke left camp. the show gave him (and us) a better reason to actually defend them
in the show, he's exposed to the god's cruelty, but he sees that it's not as black and white as he once thought "oh all the gods are bad and none of them care for their kids >:(", he sees the good in some of them and it's enough to make him want to save them instead of letting them crash and burn (like luke, who's blinded by his anger and hatred *cough cough* fatal flaw!!!! *cough cough*).
LUKE AND PERCY'S RELATIONSHIP
SHOW!LUKE WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN BOOK!LUKE IMO.
book!luke was trying to kill percy very early on and was pretty much pretending to be his friend the whole time. yes his intentions and character get fleshed out as the books go on, but his relationship with percy... didn't offer much.
then there's show!luke who genuinely liked him and wanted to recruit him rather than kill him (that's why there's no scorpion scene). his betrayal was more personal and painful for percy. the fact that annabeth was there to watch it all happen was even better (not for her though LOL).
(and dont even get me started on how show!luke didn't hate grover like in the books. the genuine fear in his eyes when he found out that percy gave the shoes to him and the way his eyes got all misty??? he fully blames thalia's "death" on him and him only THE ANGUISH WAS SO đđđ)
AND I THINK THAT MIGHT BE ALL?
so yes, these are some of the changes you should expect to see!
i wanna really contrast how different things are between the ror and pjo verse. ror gods are very close and tight-knit whereas the pjo gods are... well, "a mess" as percy so eloquently put it.
ror gods aren't forced under the tyrannical rule of zeus, their zeus is chill and just wants to have fun. they have no restrictions to follow and their divine laws aren't as oppressive
whereas pjo gods are under the tyrant rule of zeus and can't even interact with their kids.
ror gods are independent while pjo gods have to rely on the preservation of western civilization to stay alive and use demigods to break rules, etc etc.
pjo gods (some, at least) are kinder and have no issues falling in love with humans and loving their demigod children while ror gods are cruel assholes who commit genocide against humanity despite being the ones to create them
and etc etc.
ANYWAY, I HOPE YOU GUYS ARE AS HYPED UP AS I AM!!!! đ„łđ„łđ„ł can't wait to start writing reactions for the first time ever đ«š

with the show, I have this headcanon that Luke and Percy secretly see each other in new york during the year before the sea of monsters. Mostly because of how Percy acting in the show towards Luke. I just love to imagine Luke stalking Percy in new york from a distance till one day Percy catches him. And instead of getting mad, Percy just starts hanging out with Luke after school without telling his mom. They're each at first trying to get the other to join their side. But than it just turns into cute little hang outs/dates in New York with Percy showing Luke around because he's never really got to do fun stuff in new york. Percy buys Luke at lot of food. They go to all the tourist spots. And they have certain subjects they don't talk about at all. Mainly about Luke's dad. Luke asks how school is going for Percy. How his mom is. Percy asks if Luke is ok. It's something soft and fragile between them. Both of them afraid of when summer starts again because that's when the war between starts back up.
This is one of my favorite things (I donât write it enough tbh).
Especially with what the show set up.
Theyâre friends almost immediately. Luke keeps an eye on Percy even before he knows who sired Percy (literally watching him sleep - please, heâs so clingy and obsessed already).
Percy is afraid Luke will prioritize Annabeth over him and tells Luke this. Luke giving him the flying shoes in private. It was really fun watching Percy pick up Lukeâs quirks and begin to mirror him.
Luke doesnât even have to bribe Percy to go into the woods with him. Love that they changed it from the middle of the day to the middle of the night and that there are fireworks going off in the background and Luke is the light that Percy follows like a moth. And when Luke says âweâ and âusâ and that he wants Percy to come with him.
Lukeâs virgin killer âI just want to show youâ line while pulling out his shiny new sword and Percy is nervous but heâs also not going anywhere. The apology for hurting Luke (just like the first time he cut Luke in the books during training, apologizing for it, and Luke is still so proud of him).
Luke looking down at Percy and visibly debating whether he can take Percy before Annabeth can stop them.
Percy telling Chiron that he knows Luke wasnât trying to kill him (so different from the books where he was sure it was attempted murder!) and with that look on his face.
Of course they would see each other during the off season. Theyâre so into each other they wouldnât be able to help it. Because like even though Luke wants Percy to join him in the Titan Army (which of course he does, he wants ALL demigods to join him and pretending itâs just because of Poseidon is just stupid), Luke liked Percy for Percy.
As for who would stalk whoâŠlet me raise you this: Percy happens upon Luke by accident one day and begins to stalk him. He justifies it by saying heâs spying and getting information on the enemy, but the truth is that Percy isnât going to pass any of this on. I like the idea of him going missing because heâs so obsessed with keeping an eye on Luke that he just doesnât go home (this would also be a good way to parallel the months that Percy spent looking for Nico in BOTL).
Luke eventually catches him but heâs not angry about it or anything. Why would he be? He still wants Percy to join him; that literally never changes through the books. So yeah, they start hanging out.
Luke walks Percy home from school. They go out to eat. They run errands together. Imagine them shopping together at the grocery store. So fucking cute.
I donât think theyâd get along without at least one fight. Like you said, there are a lot of things neither of them would want to talk about because the topics are too charged. So theyâd have to find out where the line was for both of them, and after that are careful not to cross it.
As for Sally, well, I donât know that anyone told her about Percyâs fight with Luke at the end of the summer. Percy isnât the type to bring it up and CHB wouldnât give a fuck. So I think Percy could bring Luke home without any issues. (I donât know how this Sally would react because Iâm gonna be so honest, I only watched the scenes with Luke in them - the rest was so boring I fell asleep).
In this scenario, I think theyâd both be dreading the return of summer because theyâre in the same positions as last summer, except now their love is deeper and softer. The war really tests the strength of their relationship.

I believe this is the tiktok op is talking about. For those who don't feel like opening the link, here's what it says:

This is yet another case of Alicent stans being pissy when confronted with the truth of her character and taking it out on Rhaenyra. The poster of the tiktok is simply pointing out Alicent's hypocrisy and how readily she sacrificed her daughter for her ambition.
Apparently op believes Rhaenyra stans are making up actual facts of the story? I know they didn't read the book, but did they even watch the actual show? The main reason why Rhaenyra is seen as a better mother than Alicent is because we actually see how they treat their children.
Alicent takes every opportunity she has to instill treason into her sons. She teaches Aemond that Rhaenyra's sons are below him and constantly yells at Aegon that he's the "true heir". She actively allows Aegon to bully Aemond, as long as he does is in private. She full on physically assaults him when she thinks he's being too disgraceful in public.
With Helaena, it doesn't really matter how nicely Alicent treated her. Ultimately, Helaena is treated by her mother as a method to support Aegon's claim and give him "true Targaryen" heirs.
In the show, this is made even more disgusting because Alicent herself was forced to marry at a young age and have children she didn't want. She forced her only daughter to marry Aegon, who bullied and demeaned her, at fucking thirteen, this likely being when Helaena started menstruating. That's not being just a "flawed mother", that's a woman sacrificing her daughter in the name of blind ambition and treason.
I'm sure Alicent did love her children, in her own demented way. But she didn't love them enough to spare them from her and her father's ambitions. Alicent sacrificed each of her children for the throne and lived to see them all die for it.
Rhaenyra loved her children more than anything, part of the reason she fought so hard was for them. She knew Alicent's psychopathic sons would kill them if she surrendered. Every scene of Rhaenyra and her children, we see how much she cares about them and how tenderly she treats them. No, Rhaenyra isn't a perfect mother, but her sons never doubt for a moment that she loves them.
Not to mention that Rhaenyra actually respects their opinions, she included Jace, Luke, and even Baela and Rhaena in her war councils, and takes their opinions seriously. Alicent doesn't listen to her daughter or treat her like an adult. Aegon she drags around like a reluctant chess piece, one she beats because she can't deal with the the fact that she raised a rapist, but doesn't actually care enough to not make him the most powerful man in the realm. Aemond she treats as her emotional support, which is interesting given how completely unstable the guy is.
Op is another example of how Alicent stans don't actually like Alicent as a character, they like her aesthetic and victimhood. They hate how Alicent actually is written and lash out at anyone who points out who she really is.

poor pitiful greens, who wouldâve been slaughtered had Rhaenyra taken the throne. They had every right to usurp her because obviously they and their children deserve to liveâŠobviously they deserve to live more than Jace, Luke, little Joffery, Aegon, Viserys, Baela and Rhaena who also wouldâve been slaughtered had the Greens succeeded, right?
It kills me when people say that the greens would have been slaughtered had Rhaenyra taken the throne because they were too much of a challenge and use that to justify usurping her. Like you do realizeâŠif theyâre a challenge to Rhaenyra and her kids then itâs vice versa? If they canât live while Rhaenyra reigns then that means Rhaenyraâs kids canât either. But apparently itâs okay for Jace, Luke, Joffery, Viserys, Aegon, Baela and Rhaena to die if it means your favs get to win. All of a sudden, youâre okay with children dying if it means a man can now rule Westeros. A woman and her innocent children dying is okay to you because what? Itâs ânormal for a woman to rule?â Aegon should be King becauseâŠheâs a man? Because Viserys spent years advocating for him, right? Because this rapist, abuser piece of shit and his psychotic brothers who burned millions and allowed for the rape of little girls are somehow better than their sister who only raised taxes?
Alicent can fear for her childrenâs lives against the woman whoâd never even think about harming them, but Rhaenyra canât fear for her kidsâwho Alicent literally tried to get executed for years?
And donât give that bullshit: the Greens would never!
Uh, canonically, they did! Unprovoked! Before they even got the fucking throne! They did it with Rhaenys and Lukeâwho, no matter much you call him Strong, is still related to them from Rhaenyra. Team Green has personally harmed their own family, their own blood in broad daylight and have celebrated doing so, so what makes you think theyâd spare the rest? What honestly makes you think theyâd let them live? Luke was a child, so no, even the children wouldnât be spared.
Alicent has spent over twenty years fear mongering and terrorizing her own children to the point where it just could not happen. They would execute every single one of the Team Black kids down to Visenya if she had lived.
Yes they wouldâve killed two year old little Aegon and Viserys and theyâd have been happy to do it. Lest we not forget these are the same people who threw a party, canonically, when Luke was killed soâŠyeah. Aemond and Daeron probably wouldâve forcibly married Baela and Rhaena and raped themâŠBut thatâs okay to you people, right? Because at least it isnât happening to the fucking misogynist Greens who didnât deserve the throne anyways.
The difference between them and Rhaenyra is that she has never given any indications that she thinks Kinslaying is right. Book or show, Rhaenyra understands the weight of such titles and what it would mean. She understands it would forever stain the name Targaryen if she killed not one, but SIX members of her own family. Obviously itâs this fucking Rhaneyra that wouldâve killed them all though, right? Itâs Rhaenyra, and not the Greens or her idiot brothers who canonically been classified as Kinslayers and usurpers, who would not have let TG live.
Book or show, you cannot even argue that theyâre not Kinslayers because hopefully even TG stans arenât so delusional to outright deny what weâve seen. Which means that YES, they wouldâve killed all those kids and then used their big scary dragons to terrorize anyone who didnât agreeâas they did the exact same media youâre seeing them in.
In the same book or show, nothing ever indicates that Rhaenyra would kill them. In fact, she actively gives them a chance to bend the knee after they kill her son, and furthermore, she does not spend years terrorizing her children with the idea theyâll be slaughtered so they have to kill the other side, even the children, because if not theyâll do the same to them.
The only difference in this scenario is that the people who raised the TB kids would have spared the Greens, while the people who have been raised to be hateful and spiteful against even the innocent people in their family wouldâve given the TB kidâs death not second thought.
You guys simply donât understand the tabooness of Kinslaying, and itâs becoming a popular trend that people think you can just get away with it and nothing will happen. You cannot just go around killing people of your own fucking family with no consequences. No matter how delusional you and Alicent might be, it cannot happen without major consequences. Itâs the main reason majority of Westeros DID NOT support the greens bc itâs an AWFUL thing to do. There is nothing worse to the people of Westeros than a Kinslayer, not even a rapist. It is the ultimate crime to commit and it shows your lack of understanding of this world if you think Rhaenyra would just do this. Even if you donât like her, her character was described as someone that would NEVER.
Meanwhile, you know who went down in history for doing this? Not once but twice? And one of those was a child? You know who still fucking did and was willing to keep doing it until an entire side of their family was wiped out?
The Greens.
The difference between them and Team Black is that TG spent twenty years harboring hate for a woman and her kids who did not even give them a second thought. Itâs almost laughable how unimportant they were to Rhaenyra until the day they killed her son. The day Aemond killed Luke and Aegon threw a feast to celebrate the worst crime imaginable to a Kingdom he was supposed to rule, is the day you shouldâve realized how different and how much more deserving Rhaenyra Targaryen is compared to her monster brothers.
I do not fucking care that Alicent was young and dumb and manipulated once. The women who poisoned her own children, the woman who was willing to kill a fucking newborn and said I quote,
âI hope the whore dies in childbirth.â Was a grown ass adult and would not show an inch of mercy. Even show!Alicent would have no choice, because it was her idiot planning that put her psychopath of a son in the ultimate position of power so she couldnât even stop it if she tried.
So tell me, what makes you think Helaena, Aemond, Aegon (who were all adults during the dance, mind you), Jaehaera, Maelor, and Jaehaerys deserve to live more than Jace, Luke, Joffrey, Baela, Rhaena, Aegon, Viserys, Visenya (possibly), or anyone that stood as a threat to Aegonâs reign?
Surely you canât say itâs because Jaehaera, Maelor, and Jaehaerys are just children.
You root for the one Team whose succession will end up with them all dead, as canonically it did, instead of the woman that wouldâve spared them. Book or show, thereâs never any evidence she would harm them unlike the literal people you root for. Thereâs only one scenario where everyone lives and itâs when Rhaenyra Targaryen sit the throne. Because weâve seen how well it turned out for those kids and everyone when she was usurped, so rooting for Team Green bc you want to âspare the childrenâ is a contradiction in itself.
Or, just say youâre a misogynistic asshole like we already know and be done with it.

My blood and cheese thoughts.
I want to get it out of the way and say I didn't hate the adaptation. I think it was a bit underwhelming in terms of the atrocities committed and positioned in the books, but for the changes the show made, I think it's a really good adaptation of one of the worst aspects of the dance.
To go in further though a pros and cons list because I didn't entirely love it.
Pros:
1. PHIA SABAN. She was just excellent. I saw a lot of people early on hating on the delivery, but to me, it worked extremely well. That's Helaena experiencing this disaster without anyone at her side. That's show Helaena, it's amazing that she understands the character so well. Her immediate reaction is her discomfort at someone being so close yet still being terrified. The necklace handed over because she didn't know better, she's never had to know better. The way she reacted to Alicent and Criston, running through the castle muttering things to herself. It was all so excellent and she really sold it. "The boy is dead" sounded like a part of the prophecy she couldn't face when she was afraid of the rats and the way she's trembling as they believe her, that she sacrificed her son. It was incredible acting so early on, and it was excellent.
2. The trade-off. It was set up so well to me. Aegon confuses Jaehaera from behind in their first scene. Helaena is the one who can tell which child is which. The mother knows, is haunting, and the fact that she was checking on her kids that late in the night was so saddening. Then she, the only one so far who we see keeping track of who is who willingly is just beyond heartbreaking. The fact that they had the killer look her in the eye and admit to the other that she wasn't lying when she pointed to her son was just insane.
3. It was Aemond. In the books, they say Daemon, Mysaria, and Rhaenyra purposefully tried to kill Jaehaerys and traumatise everyone involved as payment for Luke. The fact that it was Aemond in the show made a lot more sense .
Cons.
1. World Building.
Helaena is the Queen of Westeros. Her children are the heirs to the throne. WHERE ARE THE GUARDS?!. Where are the at least 2 guards that should be obligated to be at their side. The handmaid's that would go with her to the kids' room in case they wake up, her maids who'd prepare her for bed after?. It makes absolutely no sense for them to be alone in that moment. It's not Cristonâs responsibility. He's Alicent's guard. Helaena and her children should have guards.
2. Cruelty.
The cruelty of the killers was lost in the adaptation for the worse. Obviously, they don't have a personal stake, and the way it's set up, Cheese finds Helaena, and blood is trying to work it out, but I do think they should've been worse. There was just a menacing quality missing from the killers, especially when we followed them around. I think having it from Helaenaâs perspective isn't the best, but it would've been better to have it interchange. To build up to the suspense.
3. Brutality.
No, I did not need to see a child murdered on screen, but I think the brutality of the situation was lost as well. Helaena is terrified because she's a princess left alone with criminals doing something unknown. Why not make it clearer. Have some bashed in heads of fallen guards, have a murdered handmaid, and the kids left sleeping. Decorate the place with the cruelty of what hey intend to do, have it resonate what her choice means, and when we see her run and hear the noise, it's past what they've already done. This also means blood is more a part of it and it isn't a split decision. This leads to more last issue.
4. LET DAEMON BE ACCOUNTABLE.
Why is he not? Why is it left ambiguous? It's so strange. When Aemond killed Luke, you could tell it was him overestimating the situation, its a mistake only to the extent that Aemond was playing a cat and mouse game with a war shipment because he didn't think of the consequence. It makes jo sense to do that with Daemon. This man wants to burn and kill and go to war the entire episode only to not have him say any prince would do. He schemes and plots, risks himself in King's Landing only to not have the final call? Let him be extreme. Now I'm going to have to sit through Daemon and rhaenyra again, misunderstanding each other and Daemon being sad because no one trusts him because he's a horrible person to be loved by and I'm sure by the end it'll be rectified. But I wanted that call from him, on screen for his anger towards what happened, towards the delay in action, when Rhaenyra gave him an inch by saying she wanted Aemond, I needed him to take a mile because that's who he is.
Overall,
I think it was a good adaptation for the show. I don't want to watch the episode back because the sounds of Jaehaerys' death made me sick. I don't think they could've done it better off-screen or more responsibly for the current events of the world. It was simply effective. I just had my expectations as a book viewer and as someone who was excited to see where the writers are taking the world they created because either like a lot of their choices.

So I have a thought about that prophecy that HotD is using to justify the Targaryen invasion of Westeros. Obviously, this isn't entirely their fault since George R.R. Martin is the one who came up with it and has said a similar thing in different interviews . Yes, the books make Rhaenerya more vengeful and thirsty for blood, but it also does not make the Greens sympathetic at all and views them as one dimensional villians. George also had the Starks and the Blackwoods side with the Blacks, so I think it's clear which side we were "supposed" to root for, if any, but I digress. Anyway, into my theory.
Time and time again, we hear that Targaryens are the closest thing to gods because they have superior blood that "controls" the dragons. That they are dragons. We hear this within the books, within HotD, even in Game of Thrones. But really, they are no better than anyone else, GOT even had Dany say this outright in the last season when she says that without their dragons, they weren't great at all. Your argument might be well they could control them thats what they mean." But really, no, they couldn't. I'm not even just talking about when Aemond accidentally killed Luke. In one of the earlier seasons, Dany's dragon literally burned a child alive, and she didn't even know until much later. Does that sound like control to you? Neither Luke nor Aemond had control in that fight. Their animals, their instincts, took over despite what their riders wanted. You could say that "oh well, Aemond is only HALF Targaryen, that's why we need to keep the blood pure with superior Targaryen blood," in which case, refer to my earlier point about Dany.
Unlike some people, I like this change of Luke's death being an accident. It shows that the Targaryen's aren't gods, or infallible after all. As I said, Game of Thrones even shows this to us.
So that's why I think they are going in a similar direction with the whole "prophecy" BS. We hear multiple times within the original series that prophecies are never direct and often misinterpreted. This is made even clearer when Melisandre misinterprets the "Prince Who Was Promised" multiple times. This, combined with the fact that GRRM is heavily involved with HotD, and the fact that they've already shown that Targaryen's aren't immune or gods after, leads me to believe they are going in a similar direction as the idea that they can "control" the dragons. See my previous point.
It could likely be a criticism of the Targaryen hubris, and the fact that they think they have "superior" or "pure" blood makes them better than everyone else. Or that they are justified on starting multiple wars that lead to immeasurable amounts of death and destruction. As Ser Barristan said about the Mad King, "the mad king gave his enemies what he thought they deserved, and each time it made him feel more powerful and right."
Targaryen's are their own worst enemy, and they will tear each other apart over "who deserves it more" or "who has the purest blood" and is "more Targaryen." The prophecy is just an excuse to hold up their own superiority and god complex, despite the fact that no one wanted them to rule in the first place. Even George R.R. Martin says that holding the realm together with dragons is ficle and bound to break.

So, It Wasn't Planned After All
https://x.com/RichEisenShow/status/1734703529552699725?s=20
While Adam Driver is making the rounds to promote "Ferrari," he drops by the Rich Eisen Show and when asked about Ben Solo during the True or False segment, Adam spills the tea.
He doesn't get asked much about Star Wars so this is the first time I think he's talked about his character arc since TROS was unleashed upon us 4 years ago. And he drops the bomb that the Ben Solo thing wasn't planned from the beginning. That's right, Bendemption happened late in the game. He says that JJ Abrams told him the idea was Vader In Reverse (starts out vulnerable, ends entrenched in the dark side) and he kept that concept in mind throughout the time he filmed the ST, until they changed it with the last film. Adam has alluded to the concept of Vader In Reverse before but this is the first time he's gone into greater detail about it, including the revelation that the decision to turn Kylo from the dark side came during the third film.
This shouldn't be surprising to anyone who read the Duel of the Fates script and it explains why Ben hardly says a word during his scenes on Exegol. Abrams and Co. conceived of Kylo Ren as an evil bastard whose destiny was to get eviller; killing Han Solo was meant to be what sent him down the path of no return. Then two things happened: TLJ and Driver's commitment to humanizing Kylo Ren. People loved Kylo and Rey together (hence Reylo exploding in popularity) and they fell in love with Adam. They empathized with Kylo. So they changed course with TROS, a little. Kylo returns to the light as Ben but he is quickly dispatched once the big battle is over. I believe Ben's death was for two reasons: one, they were less invested and focused in Ben's part of the story than we were and two, there was always the intent to end the Skywalker line so Star Wars could focus on new characters. Remember, Rey essentially turned Skywalker into a title that could be transferred to anyone.
That the story changed over the course of the trilogy isn't that big a deal. There was no Chosen One prophecy until the prequels. Leia wasn't Luke's sister until Lucas wrote ROTJ. Han wasn't guaranteed to get out of carbonite because nobody was sure if Harrison Ford was going to come back. Instead of a tyrannical, ruthless bastard like Lee Pace's emperor in Apple TV's Foundation show, Kylo Ren gave us quivering lips, teary eyes, and mooning over the heroine who is supposed to be his enemy. When Rian Johnson introduced the bond between Rey and Kylo, Abrams and Terrio explained it as a dyad and made it prominent in the film. The kiss got put in because Reylo was so popular. Okay, fine.
The problem was they never should have made the Jedi Killer from early drafts Han and Leia's only child. As an old Star Wars fan who saw every film since 1977 and followed the Skywalker clan for over 40 years, I didn't want to see Anakin Skywalker's grandson end up even more evil than he was. What a huge bummer that would've been, even worse than if Rey was killed off. (For the record, I hated the whole Darth Jacen thing so much in the legends books I stopped reading them.) Abrams and Terrio probably realized it was going to be a problem returning to the idea that Ben was too evil to save; TROS already comes off as a tragic ending rather than a happy, triumphant one. And it goes against the whole message of Star Wars. So it ends up being Vader 2.0 and fans hoping Ben would survive were disappointed. I wasn't fond of the idea of exile or something as Ben's fate prior to TROS, but now I think that probably would've been the best outcome. It would've left a lot of possibilities to explore in future SW stories without having to come up with a convoluted explanation for bringing him back.
As much as they fumbled the ball, I'm glad they at least spared us Evil Kylo 4 Ever and Adam's turn as Ben was great even without anything to say besides "Ow." Adam sounded a little disappointed to me but maybe I'm just reading into it too much. In any case he has also stated in recent interviews he would be open to returning to Star Wars, so I guess we can still be hopeful even if he doesn't appear in the upcoming film. (Just don't wait 30 years, okay?)

girl next door- q. hughes
quinn hughes x reader warnings~ swearing, nothing else! summary~ it's nice to have a friend :)) genre~ friends to lovers word count~ 2.7k masterlist
growing up next to the hughes family meant that there would never be a dull moment. i mean the first time you met the boys, you were outside building a snowman when a rogue hockey puck came flying over your head and killed your snowmanâs head. quinn was the one elected to go get the puck back. he shyly walked up to you, and you were slightly on edge from having a hockey puck fly past your head, at a speed that made it stick in the snowmanâs head
âare you okay? iâm so sorry.â the brunette boy came over as best he could with his ice skates still on. he looked to be about your age, but you were new to this neighborhood and had no clue who anyone was.Â
âyeah, iâm okay. i think.â you said looking anywhere but at quinn. âoh hereâs your puck.â you shoved the puck at him, still not wanting to look him in the eyes. quinn felt so bad for scaring you like that, and so he vowed to make it up to you.Â
âmy name is quinn, by the way.â he said, taking the puck from you.
â(y/n).â you confirmed and went back to fixing your snowman.
when school time came around and you had yet to make any friends; he stepped up. quinn invited you to all of his hockey games, and you sat together at lunch everyday. you became quick friends with jack and luke, but nothing compared to the bond you had with quinn. all that being said, you thought the friendship had some downsides. he tended to miss lots of days of school, which left you pretty lonely, and you believed he was scaring away any guy who liked you.Â
you had fallen for total chad type and had a big falling out, which prompted quinn to threaten to beat the shit out of him if he said one bad word about you in private or public. you loved that quinn cared for you, but you still wanted to find a guy while still in high school.Â
~
the day quinn was drafted to the big leagues; you were there. the day you were accepted into umich; he was there. he promised to call everyday, but that was the one promised unkept. after a while you both just lost touch. you still texted each other birthday texts and some holidays, but it was now your last year of college and you didnât text each other once.Â
after graduation, you were staying with your parents for a couple nights as your new apartment was getting ready. you would never forget the feeling of looking out your hold childhood bedroom window and seeing quinn in his driveway helping his mom carry in groceries. you just ran out the door.Â
âquinn!â your voice carried to him and turned to embrace you as you met him.Â
â(y/n)! oh god, i missed you!â he confessed, holding you for longer than friends probably should, but you let him.Â
âi missed you too! i have so many stories to tell you!â you excitedly said.
âi do too, but we are going to have to do it later. i have a meeting with my agent about some michigan photo shoot thing.â he confessed, staring at the ground. your eyes didnât meet again after that.Â
âoh ya, totally! iâm actually really busy right now tooâŠ..â you trailed off staring back to your own house. you felt totally shut down by him. you understood he had a job to do, but with the lack of communication and everything else in your life; you couldnât stop yourself from being disappointed. âi should actually get back to help my dadâŠâŠ..ya helping my dad. bye!â you quickly left not waiting to hear his own goodbye.Â
you spent the rest of the day sulking in your bedroom reading cheesy romcom book and throwing yourself a pity party. you had to be a fool not to see the feeling you had for him, but you didnât want to ruin a perfectly good friendship (at the time). when a breakup happened in your book, you were quick to start crying. you hadnât ever heard the voices of your parents and a guest downstairs, until the knock came to your door.Â
âcome in.â you grumbled, wiping the tears from your face.Â
âwhat the matter, (y/n)?â asked quinn as he noticed the tears. he rushed to sit on the bed next to you. he rubbed your arm gently, as you cried harder after seeing him.
âi donât know. iâm sorry for crying.â you said trying to stop yourself.
âyou never have to be sorry for showing emotion. you donât have to tell me, but i would like to help; what wrong?â quinn consoled you.Â
âyou.â you mumbled.Â
âwhat did i do exactly?â quinn asked gently.Â
âyou stopped messaging me, and i thought you never wanted to see me again.â you looked into his eyes as you said that, and saw him flinch a little.Â
âiâm really sorry for never answering you. i thought you had found a new life at umich.â he apologized.Â
âyou didnât even text me happy birthday this year. that really hurt.â you confessed.Â
âi thought you found a new guy.â he mumbled after a few minutes of silence.
âwhat? why?â you asked confused.Â
âyou posed it a picture of you with some guy in a bar, and it looked like you were close with him. i just got really fucking jealous. i had wanted to be with you since high school and you never showed any interest back, so i freaked and just ghosted you. i am so sorry, (y/n).â he confessed his hand staling on your arm.Â
âoh, quinn!â you jumped on him pulling him into a big hug. âiâve loved you since high school too. why do you think i went out with chad. i was trying to make you jealous and you seemed so fine with it⊠until the breakup.âÂ
âwhy do you think i was so ready to beat his ass. i hated him for how he treated you and that he was the one to kiss you in the hallways and hold your hand.â he said into your shoulder, taking in the scent of your perfume/body wash.Â
you pulled back and look deep into his eyes, and leaned into a kiss. he closed the distance between you too and you swear fireworks shot out. the kiss was innocent and held years of wanting.Â
âi love you, quinn hughes.â your breath fanning his lips.Â
âi love you, (y/n) (y/l).â he said back to you, pulling you back into a kiss. you pulled away again.
âyou are never allowed to ghost me like that again. got it?â you proclaimed.Â
âi would never dream of it.â he smiled and kissed you again; this time for a long time.

@loveableprob
first of all, so sorry it took so long. I was about to give this up due to lack of ideas until I rewatched Gilmore girls, because Luke and Lorelai are so wolfstar coded. Secondly, I know it turned out a little differently than your exact original ask, but I tried to keep the main situation and circumstances and I really liked how this turned out and I hope that is okay and that you like it anyways (if not, please dm me)
Sorry for rambling

"Moons?" "Hm?" Remus didn't look up from his book as Sirius lay beside him on his bed.
"How come you don't date?" "I've never dated", he murmured, hoping to end the conversation quickly.
"Yeah, but that's just it. You're hot. I mean, at least all the girls say so. I'm sure you could land with a couple of them. I could give you advice if you want to. You know, how to approach them, what you could do on dates, how to kiss, and all that." Remus hummed, eyes fixed on his book.
Since when did Sirius care about who he went out with? The only time a girl actually tried to flirt with Remus, Sirius made fun of her until she ran away crying. Not that Remus cared. Girls never really caught his eye, but how was he supposed to explain that to Sirius - or anyone for that matter.
"Is it your... monthly problem? Because I'm sure if someone just likes you enough they can see behind that. I mean, we all did, so why wouldn't your girlfriend? You will need to watch out who you tell it to, but we can help you with covering things up." Remus just shook his head. He really wasn't in the mood for this.
"Or is there someone specific you like?" Sirius sat up a bit. "An impossible romance! Written by fate! Destined to be together, but always held apart! It's not Evans, is it? James would kill you and I have promised him to help him hide a body if he ever needed it. But if it's anyone else I can arrange something for you. I'm great at talking you up. I'll be all like: 'Have you met Remus? He is really sweet to girls. He also has super soft hands and can always help you study no matter what subject. His hair always smells good," Remus raised an eyebrow at that, "and aren't these scars just too hot?! I mean, talking about badboy... He also has really comfy sweaters that you can steal and he will lend you his scarf when it's cold outside, even though he hates being cold.'"Â
He paused and looked up at Remus, who was still staring at his book, desperately trying not to think too much of this. "'He's not the best listener though'", Sirius muttered, sitting up in his friend's bed. "So yeah, if you need help, you know where to find me." With that he left, closing the dormroomdoor behind him, leaving Remus with a heavy ache in his chest.

Why exactly did they decide to make Aegon SA the maid? In the books he never assaults anyone. He is known to have a âlarge carnal appetiteâ but itâs never mentioned that these women were forced in anyway. The closest we get is when we hear that he won the virginities of two maidens at an auction in flea bottom. Which, by my understanding, means he paid extra to be a whoreâs first customer. It wasnât some sweet innocent girl like we see in the show. The girls already worked in the brothel learning their trade. They donât just yoink girls off the street and out their virginity up for sale.
So why include it in the show? Was it because they realized Aegon wasnât nearly as horrible as Rhaenyra, so they had to do something?
Rhaenyra has 3 bastards that everyone knows about, but canât say anything. Just committing open treason and no one is allowed to point it out.
She had beef with a literal 2 year old. She had multiple tantrums at her little brothers second name day hunt. Also looked right at him and compared the death squeals of a boar to the crying to children.
Suspected of killing her first husband. In the show, she shows Laenor mercy, but has no problem killing off one of his servants because they needed a body. You donât understand! She reconnected with her uncle by fucking him on the beach at his late wifeâs funeral! She just HAD to marry Daemon instead! Who cares that Laenor was in the process of recommitting himself to their marriage when she sprung this idea on him? He gets to live penniless with his boyfriend in Pentos or something! All he had to do was give up his family, his inheritance, his power, his place at court and all his wealth, along with the life of one of his fatherâs servants. Sure, he could have kept all those things, but then Daemon would get all broody about how he canât openly fuck his niece!
Her second eldest is adamant he doesnât want the Driftwood throne. She forces him to fight for it anyway rather than just quietly sending word that Luke is willing to allow Vaemond to inherit in his place.
Suggesting Aemond be tortured to learn where he heard her sons being called bastards after Luke just slashed out his eye. Not to mention that snobby âThank you, fatherâ that was totally inappropriate, unnecessary and sent Alicent over the edge.
In comparison, Aegon is a teenage boy who⊠likes drinking and jerking it. The worst thing he has done was mock his brother with a pig. Alicent corrects this behavior, and from what I can tell, the two boys were friendly towards each other after the time jump. Aemond and Aegon are chatting before dinner. Aemond stands to defend Aegon when Jace acts like he may try something. When Aemond gets punched by Jace and then pushes him to the ground, Aegon grabs Luke before he can do anythjng. Clearly they have grown close.
We see the twins at the fighting pit where Aegon allegedly goes often. How can they know that, though? Earlier in that episode Otto asks his personal guard (either Erryk or Arryk. Their names sound the same and they have the same face, I donât know who is who) where he is and his guard admits that Aegon exploits his authority to order him away and then evades him. He admits he doesnât have a clue what he gets up to. Then, later we see a boy with blonde hair and purple eyes, and itâs Aegonâs. No doubt in anyoneâs mind. Clearly Aegon is knowingly breeding child fighters for the pit. Weird how he wasnât there, though.
Matter of fact, the white worm just found him drunk off his ass and stashed him in the sept. Thatâs what he was getting up to. Getting drunk and likely paying for sex.
Now letâs analyze the scene where Alicent confronts Aegon.
Alicent is IRATE and Aegon is half asleep. Looks like he hasnât moved in a while, tbh. Aegon asks if something happened. Donât you think he would know if he did something? His mother reminds him about Dyana, and he seems very nonchalant about it. Not the kind of reaction you would expect from someone that just forced himself on a struggling servants. He saw it as just a bit of fun. His reaction just seems⊠off.
Now, we know GRRM likes to repeat plot points. One in the original series was Cersei only laying with Robert when he was drunk so she could finish him off some other way, and he wouldnât remember. Aegon is a known drunk. There were no witnesses. Whoâs to say Dyana isnât a spy or a mole sent to fuck shit up?
She is in season 2. Why bring back an SA victim in season 2 if she doesnât have more to add to the story? Sure, there could be a revenge arc, but from my understanding, Dyana is at a brothel in season 2. Now, did she wind up there after the Aegon incident (hard to believe considering she was given a pouch of coin to start a new life and she only made it to the end of the palace driveway) OR she went back to where she came from. Back to her mistress, the White Worm. We see she employs young women in her service. Whoâs to say they didnât make the whole thing up to try and sway more people towards Rhaenyraâs cause? Nothing makes a man look worse than SA.
So all the horrible things Aegon has done so far, has been hearsay. We donât see anything other than him bullying Aemond when they were kids. So either the writers had to do something totally awful with his character, or it wouldnât be such a landslide siding for Rhaenyra.
You know if they hadnât decided to assassinate his character, it would be much closer to a 50/50 split. They also had to whitewash the hell out of Rhaenyra to make her more likable. In the books, SHE orders Vaemondâs death and feeds him to her dragon. So in the same episode they blackwashed Aegon and whitewashed Rhaenyra so the audience would root for her. Then they had the balls to say WITH THEIR WHOLE CHEST that they arenât biased in their writing.

What do you think of book&show!Rhaenyra as characters? And who do you like more?
Hi anon! I've been turning this one over in my mind since you sent it, because I wanted to give it some thought (and anyone who is sick of reading show critical stuff, just skip this one. I don't hate the show, I just think it's interesting and fun to dig a bit deeper). What it comes down to for me is that while book!Rhaenyra is fun, I wish the show had been braver with their depiction of Rhaenyra.
While book!Rhaenyra's motivations are not particularly complex, I feel like I understand her better than show!Rhaenyra. She hasn't heard a prophesy, nor does she feel any real responsibility toward the kingdom to make her second guess the war; her father had made her heir and that was that. Anyone who disagrees can go ahead and die. Her motivations are not particularly noble or self-sacrificing. If anything, it's the opposite. Book!Rhaenyra loves the finer things in life, she's headstrong, and a bit of a mean girl. She goes after what she wants unapologetically, lies through her teeth and never backs down. Book!Rhaenyra never weighs the consequences of her actions, she is vengeful and reactive. She is given terms which would allow her to keep Dragonstone in perpetuity, and unlike her show counterpart, she doesn't even consider them. She says no outright, even before Luke is killed, and replies to tell Aegon that, "I shall have my crown or I shall have his head." And while surely she values the lives of her sons, you get the sense that she never even considers the danger this war puts them in because losing isn't even an option for her. She's going to win because of course she is. And as a reader, you never question her motivations really because, whether you agree with her or not, it is easy to understand that she is fueled by a self-righteous conviction that she will be taking what she feels belongs to her, and woe be to anyone who gets in her way.
Show!Rhaenyra, on the other hand, is more thoughtful. We see this when she's crying at half-dead Viserys' bedside telling him that being heir is a burden, and we see it when she truly considers Otto's peace offer, when she tears up to see the page that Alicent saved from their girlhood. We see it in how she talks to her sons and in the way she apologizes to Alicent at the dinner table. She seems to have some concept of what is at stake, and understands that the throne is a tremendous burden and responsibility, and that the lives of her people are in her hands, and moreover that she does have the option of backing down. When she considers the peace offer, she very clearly states that the prophesy means that she has a responsibility to keep the realm stable, and maybe it is not the best thing for the realm is to throw it into civil war in order to sit the throne at all costs. But all of this, the added sense of awareness of the enormity of the the responsibility and the desire to do right by the realm, while they make her an easier person to support, also makes a lot of her actions that much harder to understand.
One of my main nitpicks with the show as a whole is that the actions of the book characters do not always fit the personalities of the show characters, and so the characterization seems inconsistent. Rhaenyra is aware of the gravity of her position, she learns about the prophesy and the threat to the realm, and then proceeds to have three bastard children (and this is a problem, because it jeopardizes her position. If she gets caught or Corlys/Laenor change their minds and disavow those kids, it's over for her). We have things like Rhaenyra asking for Aemond to be "sharply questioned," which comes from the book, when the episode before she was offering up a dragon and a Jace/Helaena engagement (a show invention, and even though it's not a great deal for the greens if you give it some thought, it reads to the audience as a peace offering). Or you have her telling Daemon she needs his help to fight the greens, and there's this whole conversation about making their enemies believe they're the kind of people who will kill to protect Rhaenyra's claim, but then in episode 8 they have this attempt at reconciliation between Alicent and Rhaenyra and in episode 10 Rhaenyra is going on about how Daemon has "gone to madness, gone to his war." She's seriously entertaining Otto's peace offer (which never happened in the book) while sending her sons off to muster support.
F&B has pretty thin characterization, but what is there comes mostly from the characters' actions and their dialogue. To create a consistent character, the writers needed to start there and ask, what kind of person would say these things and do these things, rather than taking the character they conceived, and trying to shoehorn canon events into that characterization. And the thing is, the show could have created a more fleshed out version of book!Rhaenyra and still made her sympathetic. Take Shiv Roy from Succession, for instance. Shiv is someone who is a victim of misogyny, but also undeniably not the best choice for CEO (neither, of course, are any of her brothers). She's overprivileged and not nearly as experienced or as smart as she thinks she is, she gets in her own way, and in trying to be "one of the boys," she consistently overshoots and alienates actual allies. But she's also a victim of misogyny-- she is expected to provide a woman's touch to delicate matters, but is expected to be as ruthless and cutthroat as the men. Her fuckup brothers are given endless second chances, but Shiv has no such leeway. The specter of motherhood hangs over her constantly-- once she becomes a mother, she will be cast out from the world of men, an asterisk beside her name. And show!Rhaenyra does lean into this a bit (think of Rhaenyra's boobs leaking in the small council, her being stuck giving birth at the moment when leadership is needed in episode 10), but it doesn't commit to the darker side of this. It is not brave enough to make Rhaenyra a bad person as well as a victim.
The thing about Succession is that the show never asked us to view Shiv as good, or as a better choice than her brothers. It didn't even ask us to find her particularly sympathetic, although I certainly do find Shiv sympathetic in some ways. She has a genuine love for her family that makes the moments when she betrays them even more bittersweet, and we can understand her as a pretty bad person while still understanding the ways in which patriarchy screwed her over. In fact, in some ways it was refreshing to see that a woman could be privileged, ruthless and occasionally cruel and still get fucked over (this article is a good breakdown of Shiv-- now imagine a Rhaenyra in this mold!). But central to the difference between HotD and Succession is that Succession doesn't ask us to view the "throne" as a force of good, nor the position as a force of change. The CEO position in Succession is pretty explicitly toxic. Roman refers to the company itself explicitly as a cage. The audience is meant to understand that the person who "wins" is going to be more miserable and more morally compromised as a result. And the Iron Throne is similar. It's a throne made of literal swords! The closer you get to it, the more cursed and compromised you become. But so far, HotD not only insists on casting Rhaenyra as a protagonist, with the addition of the prophesy and the vision of the white hart, winning the throne becomes something she must do for the greater good, her claim something she has been righteously chosen to uphold. And if winning the throne is righteous, then the throne itself must be righteous too. And that's a framing that I don't think can hold up through the Dance, but I fear that the show may have backed itself into a corner by casting Rhaenyra as the correct choice, which inherently frames the throne as something she is right to fight for, no matter the cost to the people, her family, or herself.

I had been debating about posting this or not, but I'm going to because this fandom is getting on my nerves even worse than in the last 2 years.
And just to be clear before anyone accuses me of anything, I invite you to spend one minute on my blog. My favorite book is AOFAG. Even when I am highly HIGHLY critical of Benedict for being an absolute jerk for about 70% of the story, Sophie Beckett is the greatest character that Julia has ever written. She's everything that's good in the world đ„č and her strength saves this story. Benedict has awesome moments and he apologizes in the end, which is rare in JQ's books, so, he has that on his favor + an incredible love confession that Luke T will absolutely nail (I still think JQ cannot write class-difference stories but whatever) Show!Ben is everything book!Sophie deserves and is going to make the adaptation so much better. I can't wait to see that.
I need Sophie in my life.
I've also written many stories about benophie and posted a lot of love for them for the past 2 years.
And you know what I have also seen in those 2 years? Benophie stans being vile, aggressive, rude, and simply put, absolute bitches. They claim to stan Sophie because of how kind she was despite her circumstances but when the news of s3 came out, they turned into full-time haters.
Now that the antipolin blog published something about the actors they like (they even lied about Claudia Jessie!), NOW they are cutting ties with that account and publishing what seems like "PR statements" (loved how a fan called this on tw) saying that the admin of that blog does not represent them. TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE. AND FALSE. Forgive me for not believing you but that blog repeated the same lies you were all saying.
A few months ago, an account on tw posted something like "I have never seen a Benophie being hateful or attacking Polin." Obviously, Polins began replying with ss of the anti blog and other crazy stans. And I didn't see any big account of Benophie come out and admit that that was wrong or cut ties with those problematic people.
For 2 years,
You called Nic an alcoholic and lazy when she posted about Champagne Fridays.
You called Luke Newton ugly every chance you got.
You cut him out of promotional photos and bts or you put something on his face, even when the photos were shared BY HIM. You use HIS photos where Luke T appeared to throw hate at him.
You made tasteless and aggressive comments about the actors and Polin for 2 years, and whenever someone called you out for that, you claimed it to be a joke and that we lacked humor. It even happened on Benophie week 2023 by the account that organizes it!
You claimed that Nic had access to the writers' room, force s3 to be hers, and purposely took SA's screen time and promo opportunities. Nic had to come out and ask all of you to stop sending hate. The unfairness of promo/screen time for Kanthony was not something Nic or Luke did, blame production for that.
You say her activism is performative cause it would kill you to admit that she's doing something good that other actors have ignored so far.
There was not one single post made by the Bton accounts or JQ that did not contain hate toward the actors/ship on the comments, even today that Benophie season is confirmed.
Even a few months ago, I published a few posts about s3. They were positive posts about Pen's makeover and how important it was for me, and this is the kind of messages I got:

Was it from a Benophie? I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me. Also, this is the only one I ss, but I got at least 4 of them after this post (x).
Those very people who are crying right now that Benophies is being associated with the anti polin bitch were spreading the same rumors that she mentioned. And they never showed remorse!
Don't come now and say it's just ONE antipolin blog that spread all the hate. She's not talking to herself either, those anons are real because her posts have likes, so she definitely has an audience. I've met them. Unfortunately, every group chat or discord channel about Benophie is not a safe place for anyone who enjoys Polin.
And yes, I know there are equally disgusting people on the Polin fandom that I have also blocked cause they keep attacking Marina, they claim Pen is a saint when she made big mistakes, and they have also spread rumors and insulted fans and actors like Simone Ashley and Ruby Barker, not to mention the people who are obsessed with LukexNic and attack his gf. Like seriously people, you all need to be institutionalized. There is a big HUGE problem in that fandom too, but right now certain benophies are acting all innocent when I have been here also for 2 years witnessing their hate. No! I can't.
I also can't stand that most of them are loving Cressida because the patriarchy forced her to be an absolute bitch. But Pen is the antiChrist.
Some of them even justify Richard's neglect and abuse. "Richard couldn't leave Sophie with anyone else," "Richard truly loved Sophie." Seriously people.
I know most of them will ignore my post, block me even or come to my inbox to insult me. And I don't care. I haven't seen any other person admitting how hypocritical they are being.
If this offends you, I will assume you participated in the 2-year tantrum against Polin.
That's it. End of rant.
Sorry to be so negative but this really pissed me off. That statement! The nerve!!!! Ok ok, now I'm done.
Next, I will post much more positive, lovely Benophie stuff. These people are not going to ruin Benophie season for me.
#bridgerton#benophie#polin#how is it that the kindest character in the show somehow has this fans?#sophie would see right through you#so does Benedict#they both hated bullies
