Their wedding photo was so cute, it lives in my brain. You cut open my brain and it’s just their wedding photo
#I think they’re an awful couple in modern simpsons#every time there’s a flashback they’re sooooooo unhappy#but pre season 8 they were soooooo adorable together#singing sonny and cher together#and that pictionary bit in a milhouse divided#and just their little interactions#‘ohhh and here’s my little popcorn ball’#‘awwww hello spongecake’#ik they’re deliberately corny#and that was season 2 so it was FULLY committed to the concept of the flanders#being annoyingly perfect and optimistic#but it’s still adorable#they took one of the only happy relationships in Springfield and said no#let’s make Ned not allow maude to go to the bathroom#let’s make them argue and be miserable on their wedding day#I want to ship them I really do#the simpsons writers are just FORCING me to ship flanjoy instead 🙄#the simpsons#the simpsons fanart#maude flanders#ned flanders

I think Jaune might a Breaking Base Character. I have seen people really like and really dislike him. At this point I don't know if I can find a source that fairly tells me the fandoms overall opinion on him. I mean shippers just do what ever and harem. Why does Jaune have a Bully Arc? I feel like that's kinda dumb and focus should have been else were.
Okay, so...
A Base-Breaking Character is "a character in a series that is loved by one section of the fanbase and hated by the other."
By this logic, I deduce the FNDM is divided into the two sides of people who hate Jaune and people who love him. People who love him are then divided into the two sides of people who write him as a soggy piece of wet toast and the side who write Jaune as a gigachad harem god. On the other side, we have people who hate Jaune because they see him as a self-insert of his voice-actor, Miles Luna, or because he "takes too much screentime" in a show that's supposed to be about girls. This is the best I can figure out from FNDM descriptions, and to be honest, I think the people who cry about Jaune being a self-insert are just as bad as the people who make Jaune into a gigachad harem god.
Jaune having a bully arc sets us up to Jaune's past, present, and future in the show. Monty Oum clearly had a plan for him, though I can't exactly ask him what his plan was for having these episodes in Volume 1 because, well, he's kinda been dead for the past ten years. Jaune's past is explained when he explains how he got into Beacon, with his present shown through his constant bullying by Cardin and by his standing up to him to help Velvet, and his future is presented in two-fold by his aura protecting him from Cardin's attack and by his assisted decapitation of the large Ursa. The point of Jaunedice was to help us better understand Jaune's role as a protagonist, main character, deuteragonist, and or other role in the show.
If Jaune didn't have these episodes, his character would probably been flanderized to being... Steve Urkel, Milhouse Van Houten, and or some other character that serves no other purpose than to be the comedic relief whipping boy. Instead, we have Jaune Arc as the John Everyman character who helps us with the human element of the situation, kind of like... Sokka, Krillin, and or Commissioner Gordon.
I'm just one guy, though, so these are obviously my opinions and everything I say should be dismissed. Because I am an idiot. Thank you and good night.

The Simpsons Ultimate Showdown!
Round 3: WAYLON SMITHERS VS JIMBO, DOLPH, & KEARNEY

Waylon Smithers TidBit: Several of the allusions to Smithers's sexuality have turned into battles with the network censors. For example, in Smithers's fantasy of a naked Mr. Burns popping out of a birthday cake in "Rosebud", the censors had not wanted Mr. Burns to be naked. Another example is "Marge Gets a Job", which has a dream sequence where Smithers is sleeping and Burns flies through a window. The sequence shows Burns flying towards him and Smithers looking happy, but originally it went on for a few seconds longer. It had to be trimmed down due to scenes that showed "Mr. Burns land[ing] in a particular position on Smithers's anatomy".
Jimbo, Dolph, & Kearney TidBit: Kearney owns a car (even though he rode the school bus on "A Milhouse Divided", "The Mook, the Chef, the Wife, and Her Homer", and "How the Test Was Won"), regularly shaves, has custody of a child from a divorce, is old enough to vote in a general U.S. election, was sent to prison (though "Marge Be Not Proud" and "Lisa the Skeptic" depicted Kearney in juvenile hall), and pays taxes.

The Simpsons Season 8: My thoughts
It's getting harder and harder to come up with words to describe these seasons as a whole. I liked it, let's get to the episodes.
Favourite Episodes:
You Only Move Twice
Hank Scorpio is the main reason why this episode makes the list. I understand some people wouldn't like that the rest of the family want Homer to quit his new job and go back to Springfield but come on, they had to reset the status quo some how.
Burns, Baby Burns
The flashback, Homer's plan and the character of Larry Burns are all great and make this episode well worth the watch.
Bart After Dark
Not only is the musical number fun but I just like how chill Homer and Bart's relationship is in this one.
Hurricane Neddy
While Flanders goes go through a lot of crap in this episode, it is interesting to see another side of him. Interesting and also kind of funny.
El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer
Just watch the episode and you'll totally get it.
The Springfield Files
The mystery is pretty good, the jokes are all funny and the crossover works even if you didn't know it was a crossover. I've never really watched The X-Files and I don't really plan to start but this episode still rocks.
Mountain of Madness
I dunno, I just think it's funny.
Brother from Another Series
Never seen Fraiser either (was planning on it but I wanted to watch Cheers first and that show isn't streaming anywhere) but it's fun to see Sideshow Bob's dynamic with his brother and the twist of Bob being the good guy is a nice one. Too bad his redemption arc was ruined by Chief Wiggum's incompetence.
Homer vs. the Eighteenth Amendment
The St. Patrick's Day opening is a decent start but it's when they implement the prohibition law that this episode gets REALLY good and hilarious. Show me someone who doesn't like this episode and I'll show you someone who doesn't like comedy.
Homer's Enemy
This episode is basically what happens when someone questions the reality of this show. The end is kind of dark but it's so unexpected that it kind of works.
The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase
I like it when the show does stuff like this. It's fun, what more can I really say?
Not so Favourite Episodes:
Homer's Phobia
I just want to say, I don't consider the episode to be bad in anyway, I don't even dislike it. But I feel like Homer's stupidity in this episode isn't as charming as it usually is, mostly because too many real people share his views but hey, at least Homer learned a lesson in the end.
My Sister, My Sitter
Bart is a little shit in this episode and I find it near impossible to root for him or even feel sorry for him when he brakes his arm. It's a shame that he gets what he wants in the end.
I'll now quickly bring up the episode "A Milhouse Divided".
This episode is pretty interesting, seeing as unlike most shows at the time that would do this premise, Milhouse's parents don't get back together in the end and remain separated for about 11 more seasons. To be honest though, I don't think anyone really cared about Kirk and Luann as characters before they separated.
Well, that's if for this season. Next time, we'll see which episode came out closest to when I was born (the answer may surprise you).

2024 Winners
It's the dead of winter, and perhaps most of you are not thinking much about baseball, unless you are fans of the Mets, Yankees, Red Sox, or $765 million dollar contracts. We regret the lateness of this award ceremony, but of course you have heard all the controversy and so are aware off the reason: the Kingman Award committee has been beset with litigation over the allegation that "the award was created by a single member of the league . . . in order to give himself an award." Our previous lawyers prevented us from commenting on the allegations or handing out any further awards. However, the important work if this committee is more important than our safety, so we fired them and we are bringing you the awards you crave!
It was another wild year of Everything's Coming Up Milhouse. The headlines this summer were all dedicated to Fernando Valenzuela's run. You've seen it all, so it's hardly worth rehashing: Fernando set a new all-time record for regular season matchup wins. They seized this title from 2018 Super Nintendi. HOWEVER, Fernando fell short in the playoffs and did not win the championship. This of course confirms what we always knew, Fernando Valenzuela is the Seattle Mariners of the league. More importantly, they cannot be considered the greatest team in league history, and that title will remain with Super Nintendi - as of course befits a team named after Andrew Benintendi. Reached for comment, the manager of that historic squad, the still greatest team in league history, begrudgingly admitted "I guess it's good strategy to have BOTH MVPs simultaneously putting up historic numbers on your team. But it's Freddie Freeman who wins you championships." Wise words.
On the Batter K front, it was a year of highs and lows. I'll start with the bad news. In Week 4 Uno Dos Tres! set a record for fewest batter Ks with only 31. This shameful performance made the committee briefly consider calling for the award - and the league - to be disbanded. That is, until we saw the heroics of Slide into those DMs. The DMs set a new all-time record for Ks in a single week, with 122 in week 15. Only last year, we remarked on a new record, and it has already been bested! More impressively, the DMs set a new season record with 1883. 1883, for those who lost track, was the year that Krakatoa exploded, creating a shockwave that circled the earth at least three times. The eruption of Ks by the DMs this year cannot claim quite that destructive power, but the similarity bears noting.
Before we get to the award, the committee has used its time barricaded in its bunker while the mob raged outside to reconsider methods. The simple sum of Ks and TBs doesn't seem to capture the spirit of the award. There were 14 players with more than 300 TBs, and the leading K master had only 218 (with one other player topping 200 Ks). This means that, too often, TBs swamp Ks. What we are interested in for the Kingman Award, though, is not just who has a high SLG, we want to celebrate the reckless abandon of taking gigantic hacks and letting the chips (or, balls) fall as they may (as long as that's in the catcher's mitt or the bleachers - anything else is weak). The question was how to do so. The Kingman Award is about Elite Performance, not average, so we settled on the following formula: we create a normalization factor by dividing the MLB leading TB total by the leading K total. This year, the MLB leading TB was 411 (you can guess what team that player was on), and the leading K was 218. So the Kingman Normalization Factor (tm) is 411/218 = 1.8853211009. That factor is then multiplied by Ks before adding them to TB. You're welcome.
The winner of the 2024 Dave Kingman Award for hacking excellence is Slide into those DMs. Congratulations! It was a bombastic, rollicking performance by the DMs all year, and they blew the doors off their competition. Week 15 was maybe the apotheosis of the DMs's greatness: not only did they set the all time record for batter Ks, they also set the single season mark for TBs that same week. This is what the award was made to celebrate, and this performance justified the whole project.
The Most Kingman Award goes, shockingly, to Shohei Ohtani. Shohei continues his sweep of the postseason awards, and with this award, he is only a CY Young award from baseball's EGOT. Shohei, of course, lit the world on fire with an absurd 411 TBs, which dragged his only pretty good K total of 162 across the finish line. The committee was disappointed that their tweaks to the formula still allowed such a TB driven result. But this award is too important, and the result must be respected. There is also a strong contingent of young players putting up amazing Kingman Normalized numbers, including Ezekiel Tovar, Zack Gelof, Brent Rooker, Oneil Cruz, and a man we all expect to win multiple Kingman Awards, Elly De La Cruz.
The committee closes by awarding a lifetime achievement award to Ian Happ. Mr. Happ impressively recovered from his down year of only a 22.1% K rate back up to a respectable 25.6%. We know his commitment to the lifestyle of a King Man, and we expect more great things next year. A second lifetime achievement award is unprecedented, and perhaps a bit bewildering, but if ever there was a person deserving, this is he.
Postscript: the committee just realized that Week 15 was the week of historic K heroics last year, and of the DMs's Kingman heroics this year!! Coincidence? No way. See you in Week 15, 2025.
