#1 is Friday Prime

It's a Holsom fic, it's an OMGCP fic, it's a time loop, it's a time loop told from the perspective of the person who doesn't know he's in the time loop. I feel out of this world satisfied with how this story came together, including several screaming comments that I just sat at home giggling over because of something I'd set up for a long time that landed like I wanted it to.

#2 is Good at Something

Snowbaz, my beloved. Far and away the most popular of my fics ever, the first smut I'd written in 7 years, a story that I intended to just be smut and then it secretly developed plot. I love this story with all my heart and soul. It's about blowjobs. There are a lot of blowjobs in this fic.

#3 is A Dangerous Affinity

The fic concept that got me back into writing fanfic after the 7 year hiatus. Naomi Novik's Scholomance meets Carry On. Snowbaz in Hellschool. You won't find any sour cherry scones here, but you will find raw denim jeans, terrifying monsters, and a description of eggs that will ruin your appetite some time.

#4 is Feet Buried in the Sand

The description reads "Moments on a beach", the tags read "the beach, waves, surf, tides, an unsettling feeling" and I know the sparse description of the fic is the reason it's the least popular of my works, but I promise it's worth reading, especially, perhaps if you have feelings about Baz being stuck in a coffin.

#5 is a tie between Visible at Sea and An Arranged Meeting

I decided I get two here because most of y'all don't go to either of these fandoms, and yet!

Visible at sea is a silly Sunbrat romp in the In Other Lands fandom. My attempt at writing something short (hard for me!) and something with a believable Elliot voice (also hard for me!). I think it landed, and also the smut in this story is very hot if you ask me. Originally fake-titled Wet, Hot, Otherlands Summer

An Arranged Meeting is a Battlestar Galactica fic, Kara/Lee AU thing told in a nonlinear narrative. When I wrote it (eight years ago), it was an incredible divergence from the way I'd previously written, and I remain incredibly proud of it.

i just saw someone say that faramir is infuriating because he's self-aggrandizing in claiming that he won't act in any way that doesn't befit his status, and on one hand - i understand the root of it? he does have a courteous, almost formal style of talking. he does openly claim that he would not take this mysterious power (before he knew about the ring) if it was on the highway. he agrees to denethor's characterization that he wants to appear noble like a king of old.

but on the other hand i'm straining at the bit to defend my baby because - infuriating?? when he lives up to the words he is saying?? when the text shows over and over that he's loved by his people, that he genuinely tries to live by those standards (and seems to succeed) - him not killing even animals unnecessarily, him riding back for his men. even his proclaimed dream to see gondor's tree bloom and peace restored, is supported by him seemingly making that transition from steward to king as smooth as possible?

maybe it's because i instantly liked him so much. it just caught me so off guard because this particular criticism never ever crossed my mind. so funny how people will interpret the same thing differently. to some internet user out there, his words are self-aggrandizing. to me, his words are straightfoward and supported by actions - dreamboat central.

Hi, anon! I'm pretty much with you on this one. I've seen the occasional post like that, and I can understand finding his style grating (though I personally love it) or disliking the general baggage associated with Tolkien's handling of Númenóreanness (there's a considerable degree of classism and racism built in to the presentation of Elves and peredhil/Númenóreans in LOTR in particular, while later texts like "The Mariner's Wife" are relatively more nuanced).

But the idea that Faramir is essentially just performing the appearance of high virtue as a sort of imitation of Númenórean cultural values without actually possessing those values or the virtues of the best of them just seems a profound misinterpretation to me. He has flaws, but he's not a hypocrite and he does not fail to live up to his presentation of himself at any point.

He's exactly what he appears to be, a stern and intelligent young man out of step with the current trends of his culture, who still cares deeply about his people and their allies. He's potentially highly dangerous in the way of Denethor and Aragorn, and like them, his personality is hard and unbending when it comes down to it, but he's also gentler than either—the combination of his willingness to act on the threat he represents if necessary and ethically justifiable, with a deep compassion and sympathy for others (even animals), is distinct and really interesting.

I think there's a very important distinction between Faramir performing virtue and gentleness and putting on the persona of a great Númenórean lord in times of peace, and Faramir presenting himself as he truly is and then suiting actions to words, despite the fundamental antipathy between his temperamental inclinations and the circumstances he's been placed in.

Didn't get enough sleep for reasons (not just being a light sleeper, and dealing with a recent injury pain) and the moment I open LADS, Zayne texts MC about their well-being regarding a specific injury. I know it's just happenstance, but if I was in a different mood, I'd probably be crying right now because of his concern. He's the type of person that is rock steady, kind and generous with you, and maybe even easily taken for granted because he's quietly on standby whenever you need him. He can be cold and clinical (or not be as receptive, ready with a soothing word or a compliment like the others) but I know he still cares deeply. His love is unconditional.

Well friends, apparently Tumblr thinks ctrl+z means "delete everything in my post", so instead of a rambling account of how life has stymied me from writing this year so far, and how I'm feeling overwhelmed by my dwindling chapter buffer for A Dangerous Affinity, you're just going to get some words. This section includes the not a spoiler news that Baz and Simon do eventually make out in this story. If you're surprised, you haven't been paying attention. It also includes an allusion to the fact, never explicitly mentioned in the text, that Baz Pitch is a diva who wears button fly raw denim at the Scholomance. (Pro tip for other humans with bodies, Button flies are actually hugely practical when your body size is not consistent over time.)

“Want to do a snack bar run?” I ask. “I’m famished.”  Baz lifts his hair back from his face where it’s slipped over his cheek and is falling against my neck. “Sure.”  He stands. He’s so long, so lean, so many beautiful parts making up the overwhelming whole. He straightens his shirt, shakes out his hair, buttons the top button of his jeans. (“Don’t get any ideas, Snow,” he’d said when he unbuttoned it. “It’s just for range of motion.”) (I may have gotten a few ideas.)  “Coming?” he says. And yes, I was distracted from the initial plan. Who could blame me? My outfit requires a lot less re-assembly. I take Baz’s hand after I close the door behind us.

This is slander and I will not stand for it : the Investigation Team lives off of their fearless Leader's food. Hell, even Yosuke says he knows a recipe or two. how to do simple dishes.

I find it so funny that the Phantom Thieves get to enjoy cooking from either Sojiro or Joker who are both considered to be excellent chefs meanwhile the Investigation team are living at the edge of food poisoning to the point that Kanji brings insurance when the girls cook for them.

Started rereading the Hunger Games series and I feel like it’s so overlooked how in 74th and 75th Hunger Games, we don’t know every Tribute’s names, with Katniss only referring to them by their District numbers but in TBOSAS, we knew every single Tribute by name. We associated them with the clothes they wore on the Reaping Day and Suzanne even goes so far as to describe how they looked, however briefly. We see these Tributes and we’re familiarized with them by the little tidbits provided to the mentors and to Snow and Lucy Gray. But we never get this in the original trilogy.

In two generations, President Snow alienated the Districts from each other so much that Katniss didn’t even care to know all the names of the Tributes sent into the Arena with her, with the exception being those who posed great risk against her safety and those she felt great compassion for (e.g. Cato, Thresh, Rue, Mags, Betee, Wiress etc.). Katniss even went so far as to call the D6 Tributes in the 75th Hunger Games morphlings, for their affinity to imbibe in the drugs that help them forget their own traumas (an incredibly hurtful description, in my own opinion, to be known by the qualities you hate the most about yourself). We never know the real name of the 74th D5 girl, with Katniss only referring to her as Foxface and we don’t even know Marvel’s name until we get to the second book and he was Katniss’ first personal kill. Katniss even kills the D4 girl in the books with the same tracker jacker venom that killed Glimmer and yet still, we don’t know her name. We are so removed from the identity of the other Tributes that we don’t even know what some of them looked like beyond brief descriptions of mangled bodies and dead Tributes in the bloodbath at the Cornucopia.

And, the thing is, Suzanne established the importance of names in the series. Even in real life, we recognize the importance of being named. It is a fundamental aspect of being human. If you’re ever in a perilous situation where a person might be placing your life in danger, we’re told to remind the person that you’re human. “Keep saying your name, how old you are, where you came from. Remind them you are a human being just like them.” Before any propaganda can work against a group of people, refusing to recognize a person’s name is the first step to dehumanization. And just like the people of the Districts, we don’t care enough about the other Tributes to even want to know their names. Their propaganda worked on us, the readers.

In two generations, President Snow completely wiped out any sense of familiarity and camaraderie the Districts may have shared with the other. In two generations, Snow sowed the seeds of distrust and division into the Districts so deeply that even we, the readers, were affected by the effects of Capitol propaganda. In two generations, the Districts ceased to genuinely care about the others beyond the vague sense of injustice they feel for their shared plight. It’s why Career Districts don’t seem to care about killing the other Tributes. How can you care, to show your compassion and humanity, when you can barely see them as people? Yes, they may have been in the Arena with you. Yes, they may have been starved and beaten and forced into labor like you were. Yes, they might be children just like you. Yes, they might be subjected to the same deplorable system that turned you into virtual slaves. But they are not your friends. They are not your allies. They are strange, with different customs and traditions that you have. You do not share the same values. They do not care about you. At the first chance they get, they will kill you with your bare hands and they will do it with alacrity if it meant their survival. There can only be one Victor and it can’t be them. It has to be you.

this call was released anonymously (understandably) but my local Palestinian organizers who I literally trust with my life have endorsed it, and it seems to be gaining momentum in multiple cities, so I encourage you all to get involved:

"A proposal to coordinate a multi-city economic blockade on April 15th in solidarity with Palestine recently received overwhelming commitments to participate around the US and internationally.

The proposal states that in each city, we will identify and blockade major choke points in the economy, focusing on points of production and circulation with the aim of causing the most economic impact, as did the port shutdowns in recent months in Oakland, California and Melbourne, Australia, as just a few examples.

There is a sense in the streets in this recent and unprecedented movement for Palestine that escalation has become necessary: there is a need to shift from symbolic actions to those that cause pain to the economy.

As Yemen is bombed to secure global trade, and billions of dollars are sent to the Zionist war machine, we must recognize that the global economy is complicit in genocide and together we will coordinate to disrupt and blockade economic logistical hubs and the flow of capital."

ETA: since I posted, organizers in St. Louis, Seoul, Brussels, and the Netherlands have signed onto the agreement, so if you saw this before and your city wasn't listed look again. anyone with the capacity to do some outreach, and a few connections to start with, could take the initiative to bring their city or region on board. read the solidarity agreement and check out the resources, and if you know trustworthy people in your area who might be interested in this sort of thing, talk to them about it.
