The #TripleTrouble theme is all about exploring dynamics, shenanigans, and any moments you can think of that feature your favorite Check, Please! trios. These can be canon trios (think WTF, The Frogs, etc), your fave non-canon trios (think PBJ, Scrappy/Kent/Jeff, etc), and any other iconic trios of OMGCP characters that you think deserve a spotlight!

As with our previous volumes, #TripleTrouble will be available as a free digital PDF upon publication

Fics must be no longer than 3.5k words, and art of all mediums are welcome! (even non-digital works so long as they can be translated to the digital PDF zine, such as through scanning or a high-res photo)

We’re on Discord! It’s not mandatory to join, but it is a wonderful tool for connecting with other contributors and opens another form of contact with the admins!

i know beyond a shadow of a doubt that no matter what age ransom & holster are when they get together as a couple, they rework their incredibly long & elaborate secret handshake to include a lil smooch at the end

actually now that i'm typing this out, this is definitely how they end up hard-launching their romantic relationship- which nearly fails before it can even start bc all of their friends have seen them do their secret handshake so many times after they win a game of beer pong or complete a great pass on ice or w/e, they don't see the point of being sat down to watch them do it again now

and even after they finally get everyone together, do the whole handshake, and finish with a dramatic kiss, and everyone sincerely congratulates them, holster gets frustrated bc their friends don't seem appropriately floored by this Brave Declaration of Love, so he asks what their deal is. unfortunately for him & ransom, that opens the floodgates of everyone listing examples of times r&h have openly kissed/ made out/ lovingly embraced/ gazed into each other's eyes in the presence of their long-suffering friends

chowder: ...well, there was that party last christmas with the mistletoe-

lardo: and the thing at holster's birthday kegster-

ransom: [laughing] okay, thanks, we get it!

It's me! The person who's just now literally responding to comments from last year's EGF. (I don't know, I can't explain myself. Reading nice things about my writing is my one true joy ™️, and also looking at them for too long burns my face off.)

N.E.Way, I realized that Friday was Groundhog Day and my Holsom timeloop fic is called Friday Prime, and the humor (and waiting on hold during 12+ calls to medical bureaucracy) took hold and I posted Chapter 1. Excited for it to be out in the world.

BUT! Don't take that to mean I won't be posting the first chapter of Simon's mums soon too, because I WILL. I even went through and removed my weird notations of things like <<whatever a barrister does for their first job>> and <<government place>>, so we're getting closer and closer by the day.

Anyway, here's seven sentences (oops) from Simon's mums, which I've tentatively titled finally (already, always). Simon POV

"The Easter bunny?" "I don't think magical creatures are particularly attracted to Christian holidays."  "So no Father Christmas, then?"  "Nope."  "Too bad."  "Simon," Penny says, "You have magic. The Normal myths about magical creatures are just trying to convince kids that magic exists, you know it exists, you can't be disappointed that Father Christmas doesn't exist when you've seen a dragon." 

And another also seven sentences from Friday Prime, aka Holsom Timeloop:

"So, is this like, a thing now?" Lardo asks. "SMH defensive pairs hooking up—Ollie and Wicks, you two…" she looks at Dex and Nursey, who've gravitated towards each other through the course of the exchange. Dex flushes bright red. "Oh, we aren't…" "We could be," Nursey says, as smooth as he's always pretended to be. "I mean, if you want. I'd be down."

Crunch-times, fun-times, more balls than you'd think, firsts, lasts, and so many moments to celebrate. 'Tis the busiest season of the year. jack is lassiter and shitty is juliet, they go from reluctant partners to absolute ride or die besties

lardo is chief vick because she would 100% see through the psychic nonsense but would also allow holster to keep it up because of results and also for the bit (yes shitty and lardo eventually do get together no dont ask me if thats allowed by police dept. rules)

bitty owns a bakery next to the psych office and occasionally helps r&h with crime-solving because he was over at the office giving the boys some food. r&h rave about bitty at sbpd, shitty is a big fan and drags jack to the bakery + brings baked goods to meetings. eventually zimbits ensues

the frogs are police officers like mcnab, and yes nursey and dex have a rivalry that is entirely because their only settings are instigate or confess their crushes and instigating is safer

johnson the metaphysical goalie is woody the medical examiner (no explanation needed)

I sent in a prompt to @omgauplease months ago that I desperately wanted to fill, but knew I couldn't do justice without drawing it - which wasn't possible until recently. Enjoy a version of Ransom and Holster that died in the 90s and now haunt the attic, giving modern sorority sisters Mandy and Jenny "hella" advice.

cursed christmas movie au:

bitty puts off buying his plane tickets home for so long that they become too expensive (maybe-definitely avoiding going home and coming out to his parents). he plans on spending winter break at school, until he finds out a malfunction killed the heating in his dorms and it will only get fixed after the break.

he complains about it to his friend adam, and is caught off guard when adam makes him a different offer: drive up to buffalo and spend hanukkah with him and his family, and in return, pretend to be adam's boyfriend while he's there.

it's definitely the worst idea ever. adam is usually full of those. they haven't known each other for that long, and bitty is a pretty bad liar, and it could only go terribly wrong. but adam insists, and since bitty hates the cold - up to new york they go.

also spending the holidays at the birkholtz house are justin, adam's childhood best friend - who arrives solo but is rumored to be on the cusp of proposal to his anonymous girlfriend - and jack zimmermann, a canadian hockey player who lived with the birkholtzs when he and adam played junior hockey together.

it's a full house. between trying to believably play the role of adam's doting boyfriend, being helplessly captivated by zimmermann's awkward charm, and catching adam and justing looking at each other only when the other isn't looking, bitty is in for a much more exciting holiday than he planned for.
