okay okay okay hear me out but as someone whos done the journey from la to vegas by car bus and plane at least a dozen if not more times this year can i just posit my entire crack ship idea of charmer stray cat coaxing parson into a poly relationship like that one post on here?? just imagine farmers been in the cali and nevada desert preserves doing ecological studies with her uni and chowder gets traded to the kings one year and the two end up spending a lot of time in vegas cause shorter travel times or splitting the difference in distance or whatever and farmer ends up making friends with some of the aces wags and that gets her and chowder invited to stuff where they get close to parson and charmer has been together long enough to know when each other has a crush shenanigans happen of course because after everything that went down with jack and bitty kent cant imagine charmer would want him as anything other than a friend if even that and thats fine thats cool he likes spending time with them whenever they get the chance and only one gossip site has said he and caitlyn were cheating on chowder when a pic of them out to dinner together one night was circulating they all laughed it off whenever anyone asked anyway theyre all friends good friends best friends even and kent isnt about to do anything to jeopardise these friendships he has now like hes done in the past it doesnt matter if he falls in love with them theyre just really nice physical cuddly people who dont mind sharing space with him or feeding him or listening to him and chowders planning on proposing soon anyway when caitlyn graduates and is dr farmer so really they dont need a weird fuck up like him messing anything up then kent sleeps with chowder for the first time while hes in la after a game in anaheim and before his brain is even functional enough again to freak out caitlyn is climbing into bed with them and kents in the middle since the wet spot was on the top of the duvet they just stripped off the bed and hes getting cuddled on both sides and he doesnt know how long this is gonna last but maybe maybe he can stay right here for now

i mean. how much time do you have. there's a document spanning 50 years of headcanons and fic summaries in my cloud.

in terms of, like now? 2023? well.

jason's still in topanga, but getting ready to start splitting his time back east when brown retires next summer. jason is feeling a lot of honor and excitement about taking over as camp director, but there's also so much overwhelming anxiety. how do you do right by the place that made you who you are? how do you communicate to the kids who look to you for guidance that you're here because you never stopped being them?

nate's still in laurel canyon. he got out of a long term relationship about about a year ago and is back in his twinkbachelor roots, but something doesn't really feel the same to him this time around. he's been writing a lot, feeling wistful in a way he's kinda kept at bay most his life. he'll probably get an album out of this year, but next year is when things really start to change for him. (there's a moment at the beverly hills farmers market. it's very romcom. it's followed with "no no no, you are not using our daughter to pick up guys." "shane stop being a homophobe and give your brother the diaper bag.") caitlyn's in sherman oaks, working out of a studio she put up just off ventura and making decent money doing it. she's landed some hits, but it's hard being a female producer in an industry that overwhelmingly favors male creatives even for female acts. when you google search caitlyn, a lot of what you'll find is her presence on panels about being a woman in music tied together with some song titles you could probably hum a few bars of. she's mostly happy. she likes that mitchie is hanging around a lot more now that she's in this weird limbo between graduating from her PhD and actually starting a career in academia after the baby gets here. (the further they get from that limbo, the more isolated caitlyn feels. it's hard being a woman in music, but it's also just hard being a woman. it's hard being a non heteronormative woman. it's hard being a woman in your 30s.) but, mitchie and caitlyn shared a box at the brandi carlile show last week with a girl caitlyn's been seeing, and held each other and swayed and sang every song together, like they always have. caitlyn loved every minute.

tess is in new york. she's been in new york since she left caitlyn sitting alone in what was their silverlake apartment august 2018. her trust fund got her a two bedroom in chelsea and her connections got her a pretty decent record deal that put her somewhere between "lesbian cult singer" and "pop girlie (traditional)." she has two cats and a group of friends she does a weekly family style dinner with. she ran into lola in line at sweetgreen for the first time in oh, so many years, and it made her feel this sickly sort of sad. she called caitlyn about it. they talked for hours. the sun came up, and they talked some more.

Currently reading: The Shadow of Kyoshi by F.C Yee & Michael Dante DiMartino. Great book so far and without spoiling too much, we learn more about the A:tla/TLOK Universe during... specifically earlier Fire Nation culture and customs in the second book.

After that, I got my eyes on Witch Hat Atelier Vol. 1 !!

Okay so I wanted to explore the other check please kids as skaters so:

Georgia: she’d be jacks coach and would most definitely be pushing for him to be partners with bitty

Shitty: I’m thinking shitty would be a coach but like the really chill coach that’s super encouraging. Or that skater that is at the comp all day just cheering people on. He probably spends most of the sessions he’s on talking to people or goofing off but he’s decent

Ransom and holster: they’d be a pair team (not ice dance but freestyle). Ransom would take the ‘lady’s’ spot and would be thrown or lifted (it’d be hard for holster to throw cause ransoms also large but they’d figure it out). They’d have hilarious programs probs. Holster would always push for (and win a few times) broadway themed programs. They would definitely be crowd favorites tho. And they’d have lots of media presence, they’d go to events, host things. They’d have great skating fail videos where they’re lifts don’t go well or they’d do some crazy things on the ice. Everyone would just be so confused how they manage to lift such a large man but holster is just that much of a beast

Dex and nursey: I can’t tell if they’d be a pair or singles. It could really go either way. As singles, they’d have a lot of competition between each other. Dex would probably complain about nurseys sad (moving) programs but he really loved how smooth and fluid his skating was. Also one time nursey would do a more hip hop one and dex would be f l o o r e d like he wouldn’t know what to do he’d probably trip getting onto the ice after him cause damn he didn’t know nurseys body could move like that. And maybe nursey kept that trend going cause he liked how red dex got. Maybe they’d do a show and they were told to do a duo and they argue a lot at first but they’re so synchronized (just as ransom and holster are. Like, dmen, man). Maybe they’d do a tango style routine (cause the sexual tension would be so high) or one where one of them is trying to get he other and they’re not interested at first but they ease into it. Also I’m sure that at some point dex did an Irish jig kind of program and it looked so natural

Lardo: I think lardo would be the ice manager? But definitely does freestyle on the side? She coordinates the shows and whatnot. Definitely pairs dex and nursey together

Farmer: farmers a synchro girl who does freestyle on the side. Maybe she’s on a team w the other beautiful ladies of omgcp. They’re a senior team and they do a lot of girl power programs and they’re super badass. They’re super friendly tho and make friends w all the other teams. Her and chowder always come to each other comps and he can always spot which one she is (in synchro it can be hard to spot everyone). Obviously they’d hang on the freestyle sessions and maybe that’s when they meet?

Chowder: he’s a freestylist. He’s super smiley during his programs and you just gush every time he skates. His kiss and cries are just precious. His signature stuffy is a shark obviously and everyone always throws them on the ice after his programs. When he doesn’t do well tho everyone still cheers super loud and they cry when he does at the kiss and cry. That boy. He also probs does a good serious program and at first it was startling but it really fits him and he’s really powerful in it. Also he’d coach learn to skate and he’d be so precious w the kids. Okay scratch what I said w farmer, they both coach the little kids and one day chowders w his kids and the doin a little race and he accidentally hits farmer and then they meet and fall in love. And lots of little kids surround them and chirp them a ton

Tango: I’d like to see tango on the synchro team. Always questioning the steps and choreography. Does freestyle as well.

Tater: he and jack met at some training camp in Russia for ice dance and he meet Kent when he visits

Bob and Alicia: they were a power duo pairs team. They were loved by the fans and they still do a lot of modeling and reps for athletic companies and just everything really

Pulling out a lighter that she only carried due to being around Caitlyn more often now, she'd flick the clip with her thumb to lit the cigarette for the other.

She would hope that the smoke would hide her embarrassment from being caught staring at her. "I suppose it was an enjoyable experience, not too many farmer's daughters get to be dressed up and whisked away by someone rich, and treated to dinner and a show."

Comfortember Day 14: Encouraging

“Alright, now ease up on the throttle, activate reverse thrusters, and deploy docking clamps.”

With a soft thud, the shuttle comes to a stop, and they hear the hiss of the airlock pressurizing. 

“Now power down, and that’s all there is to it.” Adira begins unfastening their safety harness. “You did good out there.”

Caitlyn ducks her head, blushing. “Thanks. It’s… very cool and slightly terrifying.”

“Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it. It can’t be that different than a car, right?”

“Yeah, if a car could move any direction in three dimensional space and expose people to the vacuum of space if you mess up. But the emptiness of space is kinda nice - the first time I learned to drive, I was dodging cows.“

Adira raises a disbelieving eyebrow. “Cows?”

“Yeah, I come from a family of cattle farmers. The thought was that we’d find an empty pasture to practice in - no other cars or anything to worry about. Unfortunately, it was not empty. There were cows, and they were hungry. They see a truck and they think, ‘Oh, great! Somebody’s bringing us food!’ So they followed us. And then they caught up. We were surrounded by a giant, moving obstacle course.”

“What did you do?”

“I stopped. I was so scared to hit one of them, I just hit the brakes and made my dad get us out of there - he wasn’t worried at all. Apparently if you move slowly, they’ll get out of your way.”

Adira chuckles. “That’s crazy. Hey, why do all your stories involve cows?”

“I told you, I’m descended from cattle ranchers! Weird cow stories are my heritage.”

“I cannot believe you just said that with a straight face.”

They both dissolve into laughter.
