In fact, there were over three million Vietnam War casualties during the years of battle. It was known as the Second Indochina War to Americans, and considering its long fighting time and brutality, National Vietnam War Veterans Day was created to honor all the Vietnam veterans who fought during its time.

History of National Vietnam War Veterans Day

The Vietnam War has a long history. It was one of the longest wars involving America. Starting in 1955, the war went on until 1975, making it the second-longest war, aside from the ongoing Afghanistan War. Over 2.7 million Americans served during this war In 1973. All combat and support units withdrew from Vietnam following the war, but it continued to have an impact on many of the families and people affected by the war.

National Vietnam War Veterans Day is acknowledged on March 29 every year, honoring anyone who served during its 20-year time. Since respect and combat support wasn’t immediately given to those who served after the war ended because of the number of deaths, the day was founded in 2017 to finally offer that respect to everyone involved.

Understanding that it wasn’t the soldiers’ choices to go to war, U.S. Senators Pat Toomey, R-Pa., and Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., introduced the legislation proposing the anniversary of the withdrawal of military units from South Vietnam as the date. It was President Donald Trump who signed the Act on March 29, calling for U.S. flags to be flown on this day to honor everyone who served during this time, whether they were in Vietnam or not.

Every year since it was founded in 2017, this national day has continued to be recognized on March 29. Aside from honoring those who fought, four other parts of this day that are meant to be highlighted are the service of the Armed Forces and support organizations during the war; the wartime contributions at home; the advancements in technology, science, and medicine; and the contributions by American allies.

i can't remember a case like this coming up (tagging specifically for reach) while i was in PAC, but i'm like 97% sure this isn't a violation of the TOS, even if it is incredibly annoying. it's not spam (it may feel spammy, but i really don't think this falls under the OTW's definition of spam) and it's not harassment. as a rule, PAC never touches any of the tags outside archive warnings, fandoms, and language unless they break another rule.

From the TOS FAQ:

in other words, don't report this! PAC is incredibly busy as it is, and every report that comes in about a work that doesn't violate the TOS still requires a response. this kind of thing is just pulling resources away from an already strained system. the best thing you can do in this situation is leave a comment and ask the author to remove the relationship tag themselves. if they don't listen, welp. at least ao3 has a block feature now.

Urge & Help your Crook County Reps. Improve the Hwy 126 & Powell Butte Hwy Interchange on 10/29!

If you've attempted to navigate the interchange of Hwy 126 and Powell Butte Highway next to the Powell Butte Post Office, then you're familiar at how dangerous this area is. From bright sunrises in your eyes to high-speed traffic from all angles, and from a congested parking lot that blocks vision as well as large vehicles that obscure sightlines in every direction, there are times of the day that feel impossible to get from PBH to west on 126 in a safe manner.

Unfortunately, there has been an increase of collisions at this intersection, but we don't want to wait for a tragic fatality to get the attention of ODOT and the other agencies tasked at keeping our roads adequate and safe.

Yet, there's a substantial cost to remedy this area and for years, Crook County has been passed over for vital transportation grants from the Federal Government because they simply didn't have an updated transportation plan (the last one was 6 years ago and admittedly, was outdated soon after submittal). The current estimated cost of a roundabout is approximately $7m.

In a region that also fights for dollars with the dangerous Hwy 97 and the well-traveled Hwy 20, and our growing rural community has struggled for visibility and dollars. Yet, thanks to the joint efforts of members of our Coalition and dedicated friends, we've started to see some traction towards fixing the interchange.

The next step is another open house held by Crook County at the Powell Butte Community Center on 10/29, from 6-8 p.m. (there is also an event in Prineville on 10/30 if you'd like to attend that instead--information below).

The open house is a drop-in gathering, where you can view what Crook County has been developing for their 20-year transportation plan (TSP) and provide your feedback on what they've created.

HBOT Therapy treatment started in the 1940s to treat the decompression sickness of deep-sea divers of the U.S. Navy. At the primary stages, the HBOT was also used to treat carbon monoxide poisoning. The scope of using Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy has broadened over time.

How is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy helpful?

• HBOT fills your blood with a significantly high amount of oxygen, making it reach the remotest tissues and cells of the body. • Increased oxygen in the blood boosts the wound healing of surgical procedures, infected wounds, skin grafts, burns, and crush injuries and non-healing amputation stump. • It stimulates the production of collagen protein, which is the primary building block of our skin, muscles, bones, ligaments, and many other connective tissues. • HBOT can prevent severe tissue damage to oxygen-deprived tissues. • It also increases the body’s resistance to infections and blocks harmful bacteria. • HBOT also helps in treating radiation injuries, such as the damage after radiation therapy for treating cancer. • In HBOT chamber, 60 times more oxygen is dissolved in plasma & body fluids.
