(btw that last message probably came off rude but it wasn't my intention! English isn't my first language lol. I just wondered if this is a new trend!)
ask before: Why are we announcing our departures now?
my answer: Nah, you’re good, but still thanks for clarifying ♡ You definitely didn’t miss a trend and this was a full-on personal decision! With what our Communities have built the last weeks (or years, even) it feels somehow wrong to ‘just leave’ totally wordless now.
That is, because for the first time I truly don’t know when, how or whether at all I’m coming back. Actually, because of what’s going on rn and what it can do to people, so I wanted to directly address that one last time.
Wish you all the best and thanks for asking!

Tags from @fiona-fififi because this is exactly where I’m at.
The thing is, even if you agree with Christopher having some amount of say here, you don’t let a 13-year-old, BARELY a teenager, a child, make a decision of this magnitude in this kind of way. He called Ramon and Helena immediately after this huge dramatic thing just happened. Tensions were high, emotions were high. Many adults would not be doing their best decisionmaking in the moment like that. And Helena thinks a 13-year-old is?
Like…this is not a “this is what he wants so we should support him unconditionally” situation! This is a “maybe let’s all take several breaths and a week at minimum to talk things through as a family and come to a decision about what is really going to be best here” situation. And Helena jumping on Eddie’s mistake to take his child from him indefinitely without giving either of them more than like 48-hours to process is both incredibly irresponsible and deeply cruel.
#chapel talks#911 spoilers#I think there’s also really something to be said for the idea that in order for Christopher to have a say#he needs to actually understand all of the issues that come with that decision#he’s making a snap emotional judgment here#did anyone bother to ask like…do you want to transfer schools because if you want to stay longer than summer you’ll need to do that#there are a million things related to his life in la in general that I guarantee he was not thinking about#his school his friends his doctors etc etc#and he can’t be faulted for not thinking about them because he’s a kid and he was making a snap emotional decision#but that’s literally exactly why the adults in the room SHOULD have had the conversations necessary to get him thinking#about the big picture#he’s not capable of doing that right now and frankly isolating him in texas is not going to help

Since it seems like we are gonna be starting out season 8 with some sort of Bee related emergency here are some random ideas.
Tommy’s helicopter gets surrounded by bees causing an issue with it crashing. The 118 gets called into rescue him and we get to see Buck panic as he tries to save his boyfriend. Ends with them being very sweet in the hospital, and the rest of the 118 (minus Gerard but he doesn’t count) sending him a get well soon basket with honey in it
One of those beekeepers who brings bees to agricultural fields to pollinate has a car accident sending millions of bees into downtown LA
A bee swarm attacks the fire engine (it’s not a truck it’s an engine) and Gerard is cowering inside because he is allergic. The 911 gods look favorably upon us and have Gerard get the shit stung out of him and sent to the ER
Buck and Tommy are on a date at a bee and or honey festival, and a car accident sets loose a horde of bees and people panic causing a massive incident. Buck and Tommy end up sheltering inside somewhere with a girl who is afraid of or allergic to bees, and they have to keep her calm while help arrives, and we get to see Buck and Tommy being the girl dads they are
Jee-Yun and Mara become the girl from that one news story who had 60 thousand bees in her wall, chaos ensues as now Maddie and Chimney also have to find a new place while Bobby and Athena are looking for a place
A bee gets into one of the clean rooms at Karen’s workplace and one of her coworkers gets stung. They are allergic and Karen has to sit with them while they are trapped in the clean room and Henrietta Wilson has to come save her woman whether the 118 are with her or not (Everyone but Gerard is but this is a Gerard hate account, so they all disobey him and it causes the drama for the beginning of the season)
Gerard falls off a bee themed float and dies, it’s what he deserves
A flower parade like from Bee movie occurs and a bunch of bees get loose and hang out on the parade floats, causing a riot as people panic, the bees are chilling though (This is when Gerard falls off the float)
The Oprah Bees Bees Bees meme comes true

911 bisexual representation
so the thing about representation is that it's important for 2 reasons. the first is that it allows people to feel seen and understood. there's an excitement and emotional response to seeing yourself represented on screen. But part of that excitement hinges on accuracy. the more inaccurate a character seems, the more it breaks immersion, and the less excited a person becomes.
which leads into the second reason representation is important: it teaches people about groups they might not often interact with. often the first and interaction people have with groups unlike their own is through tv. now there is a certain responisbility of a viewer to understand that no one representation of a given group is going to ring true for every member of that group. but there is a responsibility of the creators to do that group justice and provide a sound jumping off point for anyone just starting to learn
now for how this relates to Buck. we here on tumblr are well versed in sexuality. we know that even if Buck never goes on to look at another man he's still bisexual. we, who truly care about this show and representation, who hear Oliver saying he's bi in interviews and reposting fanart of Buck in the bi flag on his insta story, we don't need Buck to say he's queer to understand that he is.
but for stay-at-home mom Cathy in Nebraska who, to her knowledge has never met a bisexual person, this might be her first and/or biggest interaction with bisexuality. and because she has no prior knowledge she's going to come away from this thinking that bisexuality is a phase or an addiction or just a one-person thing. if Oliver has his way and Buck gets to fuck his way through LA, then she might come away thinking that all bisexual people are sluts. of course, she might not have even made the connection that Buck is identifying as bisexual because he's never said it, and Cathy most certainly does not care about cast interviews.
the point is, to all the people saying that Buck dating a woman doesn't erase his bisexuality, you're right, it doesn't. Buck will always be bi, he will have always dated and fallen in love with a man, he will have always had a boyfriend. but 911 is trying to get away with saying they have bisexual representation without actually taking care with it. they're trying to score points with us, queer fans who care about this stuff, and trying not to upset or make uncomfortable the general audience, which is largely straight. and what that's doing is it's giving people who maybe don't understant what being bisexual means a certain idea that is harmful and offensive to actual bisexual people

I’m back for my crazy 9-1-1 s8 ideas!!!
So for my s8 wish list, I really want my fun, one-off silly episodes, a la Cell Block 911, Jinx, the treasure hunt episode, etc. As well, I want them to utilize the actor’s skills more.
(Once again ABC and Tim Minear, this is a free idea)
My idea is for there to be a dance-related episode.
Specifically for this to be an homage episode to the Step Up franchise. I don’t care how it happens or what the plot would be, but I need Ryan to reprise his role with his dancing skills and have Eddie dance battle against someone. I just need it!
Is this crazy and super unlikely to happen? Yes. But I don’t care, I think it’s fun.

Home Alone...
Aaron Hotchner x Male Reader (he/him pronouns) | CM/911 crossover
Summary: it's Aaron's first Christmas with Jack away at college.
Warnings: May Grant/Jack Hotchner, Aaron misses his son, first angst with a happy ending, reader loves him so much he'll do anything for Aaron, food mentions
Word Count: 2.9k
Jack called him on the 18th, his plans for Christmas had changed.
Originally, he was going to get on a plane on the 22nd and make his way from LA to DC where his dad would pick him up. They’d spend his break together and he’d head back to school on January 2nd. He was worried about his final projects, being away from his new girlfriend for so long (under 2 weeks) and he was worried that it would snow and he wouldn’t get back in time for class on the 5th.
All this anxiety caught up to him and ultimately, he cancelled his flight.
“Bobby and Athena said you can come to California and have Christmas here? They have lots of food, they feed a literal army every year,” Jack explained, trying to make him feel better.
“That’s okay,” Aaron assures, smiling at him through the FaceTime camera. “All that matters is you feel okay, I’m sorry you felt so stressed out.”
“I just hate leaving you alone this year,” Jack worries.
“Hey, I’m not really alone, Y/N will be here,” he reminds him. “We’ll be fine… but tomorrow I’ll send your gifts out, I’ll expedite them so you get them in time.”
“Even if I don’t, I’m still thankful,” Jack smiles right back. “Thank you for understanding.”
“Your first Christmas with your first real girlfriend is a big deal… I remember how pissed my mom was when I was with your mom for the first year and we just lived down the road. I’d never want you to think I’m mad at you for doing what you want to do.”
Jack smiles, “thank you for being so cool.”
“thank you for being even cooler,” Aaron teases him. “What did you get May for Christmas?”
“A new laptop bag and some perfume,” he shares. “I think she’ll like it, she’s been obsessed with that blueberry milk trend, it’s like a muted baby blue colour and her current cover is clear with stickers on it… and then I got her that daisy perfume just cause it’s a cute bottle and it does smell like something she’d wear already.”
“That sounds really thoughtful,” Aaron swoons. His little boy was growing up way too fast, but at least he was a gentleman.
“And I got her mom a necklace, I’ve noticed she wears a lot of jewelry when she’s not on the job so I thought it would be nice,” he explains with a little proud smile.
“That’s so sweet of you,” Aaron cheers him on. “And for Bobby?”
“That’s harder to do… he’s a chef but he has everything he’d ever need and he doesn’t drink so a lot of dad gifts aren’t up his alley so I’m still trying to figure it out,” Jack slumps in his seat. Defeated a bit. “And when you google gifts for firefighters everything is alcohol-related too, or like an engraved axe that he doesn’t need.”
“He seems very practical from the way you’ve explained him to me… maybe get him something for the house like a good flashlight for the earthquake kit or a new first aid kit for his car?” Aaron suggests.
He nods, “Yeah… he was saying it’s almost time to renew the earthquake kit and make sure it’s all stocked up.”
“You can go to any store that sells camping goods and get dehydrated meals which last a while and batteries are always a good thing to have lots of,” Aaron explains. “He’ll love it. He’ll know you care about his family as much as he does and it could bond you two a bit better.”
He nods along, “Thanks, dad. May can’t wait to meet you too, you know?”
“Yeah?” He smiles.
“Her moms heard of you, you’ve helped her detective friends with cases but she’s a sergeant so she hasn’t had the chance to meet you either, but they think you’re cool.”
“I’ll try and get out there soon,” he assures. “I miss you a lot, buddy.”
“I miss you too, Dad,” Jack solemnly smiles. “Seriously though, you could come out here… We can get you somewhere to stay, you can come to Christmas at Mays and I can show you some of my favourite places?”
“I’ll talk to Y/N and see what we can do,” Aaron smiles, knowing it probably won’t happen.
—
When Y/N gets home from work, he comes right over to Aaron's house instead of going to his own apartment. They’ve been doing this for a while now, he honestly might as well move in at this point. So much of his stuff is at Aaron’s, they’re happy this way, and this is their 3rd Christmas together so it’s really about time they make the jump to something more.
He puts his things down, kicks off his shoes and makes his way to Aaron on the couch. “Hello, handsome,” he leans in for a kiss. “How was your day?”
He shrugs, “Not that bad… but Jack isn’t coming home for Christmas anymore.”
“Oh no,” his heart breaks for him. “Baby, I’m sorry, what happened?”
“He’s just so anxious about the snow we're expected to get when he has to go back and if his flight gets delayed then he won’t make his class in time and you know him,” he explains. Jack is just as time-sensitive as his dad.
He pulls Aaron in for a hug, holding him close, “It’ll be okay, we’ll get to see him soon. We’ll find a way to make it good here with just us.”
He nods, “I know… it’s just weird.”
“He’s your baby,” Y/N sympathizes. “I’m so sorry… did you want to go out there this year?”
He shakes his head, “I don’t want to intrude.”
“Did they invite you?”
He nods, “Yes, but—
“Come on, we can go?” He encourages. “It’ll be fun. We can get a nice hotel or an Airbnb and after Christmas, we could go to the beach and have like a real vacation for once.”
Aaron sits back and sighs, “Maybe.”
“What is it?” He pries.
He shrugs, “I don’t think I want to meet her family yet. I’m not sure I’m ready for all that. I liked it more when he wasn’t dating and I didn’t have to think about him getting married one day and moving away and being in California all the time.”
“You don’t have to stay here,” Y/N reminds him. “You can leave whenever you want, you’re retired and you have the money to relocate, you can go wherever he goes.”
“But I want you with me,” he whispers, pulling him in closer.
Y/N straddles his hips and cups his cheeks, “yeah?”
He nods, “I don’t want to go anywhere without you, my love.”
He swoons, “I can come. I can put in for a transfer and we can go to LA or Orange County or something-- hell, we could go to San Fransisco and it would still be so close to him.”
“I love you,” Aaron smiles. “I love you so much.”
“I love you too… and I was thinking, since we’re on this topic—
“You can move in,” Aaron knows what’s coming. “I never want you to leave. We can put all your things up here, you can make this place yours and you can put your work stuff in my office since I don’t even use it anymore.”
He smiles. “I’m going to start packing soon… but right now I have some cheering up to give you.”
—
The tree lights are on, and they have matching drinks of half coffee half hot chocolate and store-bought cookies… his lover is cuddled into his side while they watch a random Christmas show on Netflix. He’s happy, but he’s sad at the same time.
“you okay?” Y/N asks.
He nods, leaning in to share a quick kiss. He smiles against his lips, “Thank you.”
“You miss him?”
Aaron nods, “I do… it’s been 3 months. I haven’t been away from him this long since he was in WITSEC.”
“I know baby,” he rubs Aaron’s arm with a slight pout, feeding off his unhappiness. “We’ll see him soon. We can go out there and visit at any time.”
“I know…” he leans back against the couch and sighs. “I’m sorry, I’m ruining Christmas.”
“No, you’re not,” he assures Aaron. “Here,” he reaches out for his phone and googles something. He spends a couple minutes tapping around and then shows Aaron his phone. “We leave at 2am, we can sleep on the plane. Come on, let’s go pack.”
“What?” Aaron can’t believe it.
“I’ll explain in the bedroom,” he instructs, hauling him off the couch. “We have bags to pack and then we need to head to the airport. I should have an Uber come here…”
“How did you—
“You’re not the only one with connections, hot stuff,” he teases.
Aaron pulls him in for a kiss, holding him close to his chest, he breathes him in deeply. When they pull back there’s an audible smooch sound and they break into matching smiles. “I love you.”
“I love you,” he reminds Aaron. “Now come on, let’s get you to your boy.”
—
The flight isn’t too long, it’s pretty packed but they had decent seats. There weren’t any crying babies or complaining older women, so they managed to sleep pretty easily. The landing was… not as smooth as Aaron was used to when he was at work but, they got there in one piece.
He has Athena's phone number in case of emergencies, like if another earthquake hit LA and he couldn’t get ahold of Jack… He’s not sure if she wants casual calls, but he takes the risk while waiting for their rental car to be brought around to the front, he dials her number and he waits.
“Hello?”
“Hi, this is Aaron Hotchner, Jacks dad…”
“Oh, hello, what a pleasure to finally talk to you, how are you?” She asks, kind as ever with the sweetest slightly southern accent.
“I’m good, uh, me and my partner are here in LA we—
“You decided to come!” She cheers. “Do you have a place to stay?”
“We do, we got a hotel last minute,” he can’t help but smile. “I just wanted to make sure we were still invited to Christmas?”
“Absolutely! I can text you the address and you can come over as soon as you’d like. We’re having a little bit of everything for lunch soon and then dinner is at 6,” she explains. “Does he know you’re here?”
“No, we’re going to surprise him.”
“He’s still in bed— he’s in my son's old room, don’t worry. But I’ll keep this a secret for you,” she assures. “This is going to be such a wonderful surprise.”
“And you’re sure it's—
“No intrusion at all, agent,” she teases him. “It’ll be lovely to have you.”
He manages to laugh, “I can’t wait to meet you, thank you again for the invite.”
“You’re welcome here anytime,” Athena assures him. “See you soon.”
“Bye,” he smiles as he hangs up and waits for a text with the address. “Thank you,” he looks to his boyfriend.
He smiles and wraps his arm around Aaron, “Anytime my love.”
—
It doesn’t take them long to get their things set up at the hotel and then head over to the Grant-Nash household— but not before getting something to bring to the party.
Aaron knows from Jack that Bobby, May’s step-dad, is a recovering alcoholic and that while he’s not tempted to drink when his wife has wine… Aaron just rather not bring that into the house. So, they opt for a dish. They stroll around a Whole Foods for a while, thinking of what could be the perfect thing when they stumble across cheese and tomatoes in the shape of a candy cane with balsamic glaze on top and a loaf of fresh bread. It’s perfect.
They grab some sparkling cider and a bouquet of flowers for Athena and then they’re on their way officially. He’s a little nervous, his leg bounces while Y/N drives and he reaches over to place one hand on said bouncing leg. He rubs him with his thumb and gives him a quick smile before returning his attention to the road. It’ll be okay, Aaron knows that.
This is just such a big step in a person's life. Not only is Jack's girlfriend meeting his family, but both families are going to be in one room at the same time. They’re all meeting. This can make or break a couple… and he hopes to every force or earth that it just makes them stronger because Jack is so, so happy.
When they arrive, they have to park on the road as there are so many cars already in their driveway, they really weren’t kidding about it being a big party.
He holds the flowers and drink, Y/N has the dish they bought and they walk up the long driveway to the most beautiful little bungalow in all of California. He knocks 3 times with a bit of hesitation and it takes all of 20 seconds for someone to answer.
And to their surprise, that person who opens the door is May.
“Oh my god?” She bounces with excitement. “You made it?!”
“Hi,” Aaron smiles, instantly all the anxiety leaves his body with how happy she is to see him and his partner. “It’s lovely to finally meet you, May.”
“come in,” she steps out of the way and lets them walk right in. “Let me take that, you can take your shoes off if you want but we don’t really care. The party is just down the stairs here.”
“Who was it?” Another woman asks while walking around the corner. “Oh, Aaron, hi,” she lights right up as she climbs the stairs to meet them.
“Athena?” He confirms before going in for a hug and she smiles.
“The one and only,” she teases as she wraps him up. “It’s so good to see you, Jack was worried about you having a Christmas alone.”
“It was his idea,” he says as they part, pointing to his partner, “this is my partner, Y/N.”
“Jack has told us all about you,” Athena assures as she goes to give him a half hug and then she takes the dish he was carrying. “Come on down and meet everyone, Jack's out in the garden with Bobby making the turkey.”
“He said he’s never seen someone deep fry one before and he’s intrigued,” May teases. “Actually, hold on, stay here,” she insists.
She heads over to the back door and leans against the post, “Hey Jack? Can you come here for a second?”
Athena puts the dish down on the table and rushes to the door, “Bobby, you too. Leave the turkey with Hen, she can handle it for a moment.”
They come into the room with the same expression, confused as to why they’ve been called in and then Jack sees him.
“Dad?!” His jaw drops and his eyes grow 10 times the size they were before and within seconds he’s rushing to his dad and wrapping him up in the biggest hug.
Aaron holds him so close, he hasn’t seen him since August and that felt like 6 years ago. This one hug makes up for all the time passed, he kisses him on the temple, unable to believe how much taller he’s gotten. Before, this same kiss would’ve been to the top of his head… he pulls back and cups his face in his hands, “When the heck did you grow up on me?”
“I ask myself the same thing every day,” Bobby teases, stepping forward to shake his hand next.
Jack gives Y/N the same big hug as he gave his dad, it’s cute how much they love each other too. Aaron shakes Bobby's hand, it’s big and rough and he can sure tell he’s been a firefighter for years… and he’s handsome. Really handsome.
“It’s so nice to finally meet you,” Aaron manages to say. “Jack talks about you and Athena all the time, I’m so grateful for you taking him in while he’s been out here.”
“He’s been a joy to have around,” Athena assures. “With my son in Florida with his dad, it’s so nice to have another boy in the house.”
“I was making too much food for just the 3 of us, I wasn’t used to it,” Bobby teases. “He’s helped a lot.”
“And I love taking home leftovers,” Jack teases, still holding onto Y/N around his middle. “This is such an amazing surprise dad, when did you decide to come?”
“Last night,” he admits.
“He was so sad,” Y/N shares. “I hated knowing how much he missed you so I impulse bought two red-eye tickets.”
“Well, we’re glad you could come,” Athena assures. “I’m sure you’re hungry, come eat, we’ve got enough for everyone.”
“Come on Dad, you’ve gotta try Bobby’s Caesar salad dressing,” Jack all but drags him to the table with the biggest smile he’s ever seen on this kid.
Seeing him this happy is all he wanted for Christmas, and boy, does he hope that this happiness— this new family he’s found, lasts forever. He deserves nothing but the best, and this group he’s been brought into, they’re just that.

I know people talk a lot about 911 having a crossover with the Rookie since they’re both on ABC and take place in LA, but have we considered a crossover with High Potential? I think Buck and Morgan would have a fun time spouting facts to each other about some obscure thing related to the call/ case.

So..... who's interested in reading a 911-Schitt's Creek crossover that's also a 8x06 fix-it because I've been watching Schitt's Creek to cope with the bucktommy break up and I have ideas....
Two snippets:
“Ow, shit,” Patrick cursed as his foot slipped on an unexpected dip in the trail. Taking this hike on his own in an unfamiliar place was probably not his best idea but the views were supposed to be beautiful and David insisted someone should do something fun while he and Alexis dealt with Moira’s spiral as the premiere of “The Crows Have Eyes 4: Return of the Crow” approached. His right ankle was really starting to throb, walking back to his car would not be fun. Patrick pulled out his phone, no bars. “There’s usually no service this far out on the trail. Are you okay?” A voice asked from behind him. Patrick turned towards the man and wow that was a tall, muscular man (what do they put in the water in LA). A large man in black shorts and a red tank top which revealed his very large biceps looked at Patrick with concern. “Uh I stepped wrong, I think I twisted my ankle,” Patrick replied. “I can take a look at it for you, if you want? I’m a firefighter, so I have some first aid training. And we can see about getting you back down the trail to the cars. My name is Tommy, by the way, Tommy Kinard,” the man, Tommy, said.
and
“Alright, we’re headed to a movie set,” Bobby announced over the headset as the 118, “Dispatch said the caller was a bit vague but apparently there’s a woman in her sixties in distress following a ‘crow-related incident’.” “No, no, absolutely not. Not the crows,” Chimney protested, “One of you guys can get cursed this time.” Eddie rolled his eyes, “There is no such things as curses. And didn’t you make friends with the crow in the end.”
We'll see how this goes 😂

Btw im a trans buck truther, I love hcing big buff men as trans men it's one of my favorite things. Soft fictional men with muscles who are comfortable and confident in their masculinity? That's a trans man right there baybee. I have so much to say about him but I'm trying to not let 911 take my brain over again. Like his chosen name is Evan but his parents used it like a slur in his own home where he was supposed to be the most comfortable( "What were we supposed to do?" "...love me anyway."), so he started asking people to call him buck later in life :( ugh I'm so attached to that goofy firefighter boy. He doesn't come out to anyone besides the women he sleeps with after he moves to LA and goes stealth, the "fire hose" nickname was not about his physical body. The first person he confides in is ironically Eddie after an emergency relating to a transgender teen and obviously Eddie accepts him hands down. I might honestly write a fic about this I'm brain rotting again.

whos more likely to initiate sex?
I'm not sure and I know I've answered a couple sex-related asks in a more lighthearted way but i do actually think they both have some stuff to work through vis a vis sex and the role it plays in their romantic relationships.
So while I do love the idea of Buck and Eddie just being completely uncomplicatedly horny for each other at all times, there are like probably some genuine issues they need to resolve and boundaries they need to work out together. Almost every time sex comes up for one of them in the show the implications are...not great. They've both in the past used sex as a stand-in for actual intimacy and we also now know from 7x05 that Eddie has poor boundaries around sex and consent when it comes to turning down his partners. And I do think he has a lot of remaining shame around sex (both times we've "seen" him have sex in the show have been framed around guilt/shame) and Buck probably does still have some lingering self-worth issues about sex.
The problem is that I don't think either of them understands that there IS a problem. So getting them to a place where they're even aware enough TO address the issues let alone actually working through said issues in a healthy manner...yeah I don't know! Also that's not a storyline I feel like they'd delve into on a show like 911.
But to end this ask on a more light-hearted note, I do think it'd be fun to get an episode where they get into a silly battle of who can hold out from sex the longest (a la that one episode of New Girl with Nick and Jess) and just both of them trying to seduce the other in more and more ridiculous ways and their own seduction techniques backfiring on themselves. Especially if their seduction techniques like would NOT be sexy to anyone else and Ravi is like why is Buck dressed in an apron and rubber gloves if he's trying to seduce you? and eddie's like BECAUSE HE'S PLAYING DIRTY.
(does this contradict everything I just said? maybe so! i contain multitudes)

i hope it's ok to send a message as a swiftie who has struggled with mental health issues my whole life.
first off, it's fine not to like her! or her music! i don't want to seem like i'm in anyway attacking you for not being into her.
but it would be kinder if you could dislike her or even her fandom without being ableist. someone liking taylor swift doesn't mean their diagnoses aren't real or that they'd called 911 on a homeless person (??? deeply confused by that one tbh).
those twitter posts were just people who struggle with things getting excited over new music that they find relatable. that doesn't deserve the ableist mocking.
i hope this makes sense and i hope you have a good day!
okay well first off you seem to be attributing things other people are saying on that post to things im saying. which im not. i never said the 911 thing or implied that the sources dont actually have mental illness so dont put words in my mouth
second it seems to me that it’s the swifties who are being ableist here by romanticizing mental illness to the extreme. mental illness isnt some secret superpower that unlocks hidden truths that all the normies are too oblivious to see. and if it did the things it would reveal certainly wouldnt be the “real” meaning of pop songs from the most successful and popular musician alive on the earth today. come the fuck on. mental illness is exactly that: an illness. it just makes you sick

(this post is exact copy&paste from my old account but i want it here bc i stopped using that one)
The only reason Phillip and Margaret were at the hospital when Buck died is because 1) they were already LA, 2) if they hadn't been there after their son ACTUALLY died they would look like horrible people, and 3) the image of Daniel in the hospital is probably what kept them there after Buck was released and the guilt of having their second son dying and not doing anything to help him after all the other times he had been in hospital.
The danger Buck was in only felt real to them because they were already there, because they were with Maddie, and they saw her reaction. Because if they had just heard about it through a phone call they would not have gone to LA to wait in the hospital, or visit him and help him during his recovery.
These are the same people that lied to him about his brother for 30 years, had a couple of family therapy sessions then gave up and didn't call or visit after any of the other near death experiences he had.
If they hadn't been in LA, Buck wouldn't have his new uncomfortable couch. He would have stayed with his chosen parents, or the ready made family he built with his Diaz boys.
911onFox has a habit of making their characters forgive their blood related family without apologies or on-screen acknowledgement. They need to stop, and just let the characters be estranged from their toxic families and let them set healthy boundaries!
At its core 911 is about found family and the people you choose to love and keep close. 911onABC better stick with it and not let toxic family members earn forgiveness so easily.

nine people i want to get too know better
TAGGED BY? @hondagirll, who I think I "met" through Life With Derek but has also been on a delightful-to-follow Buffy kick lately.
LAST SONG? "Another Girl," because Bébé la Premiére's Beatles hyperfixation continues, and Boyfriend has the "Help!" movie soundtrack on vinyl. In related news, coolest three-year-old you know can correctly identify the Hard Day's Night instrumental track without prompting.
FAVORITE COLOR? Blue
CURRENTLY WATCHING? The new season of Only Murders in the Building continues to delight, and just when I was worried we wouldn't be in the building as much, Jackie Hoffman showed up in the elevator to make my day.
LAST MOVIE? Fall Guy was just as much fun as it looked! Great soundtrack and use thereof, too.
SWEET/SPICY/SAVORY? Sweet
RELATIONSHIP STATUS? My relationship with my now-spouse is old enough to vote, as of earlier this year.
CURRENT OBSESSIONS? I've pretty much just accepted that I will be watching s8 of 911, because now I'm invested in the whole damn thing, apparently. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
LAST THING YOU GOOGLED? Which album "Flying" is on, because my dad said Sgt. Pepper and I (correctly!) thought it was Magical Mystery Tour.
TAGGING? @running-rabbit, @alchemistc, @cecilyv, @rcmclachlan, @village-skeptic, @deeplyridiculouslyinlove, @sullenaquarian, @katrinastratford, @sadieb798
#about me#about me meme#meet the blogger#on another related note my parents procured beatles magnatiles for bébé and legit i have never seen her so purely overjoyed#she walked around handing each of us tiles with different album covers based on favorite songs#e.g. revolver for me for 'got to get you into my life' and my mom got rubber soul for 'in my life'#i swear we are not imposing any of this on her. she just really fucking digs the fab four.#the magnatiles set is actually pretty fun. you can make a yellow submarine or a magical mystery tour bus among other things.

Okay idk if this is just me being negative, but I personally get enjoyment out of the shows I watch by ripping them to shreds in the name of improvement, because there's always something there that's great, it just has to be refined and shaped to reach it's full potential. So, bear with me here.
I'm a 911 fan, and one who really enjoys the opening disasters. I have a pretty good suspension of disbelief, so usually I can deal with scientific inaccuracies and contrivances for the sake of good storytelling. I'm not the kind of person to point at the earthquake opener and be like "uhm akshually all buildings in california have to be built on a floating foundation and obey strict safety regulations to withstand earthquakes, so the high rise crumbling the way it did is actually really unrealistic." I don't mind extreme situations, as long as they're not so impossible it breaks my suspension of disbelief.
That being said, I can firmly and completely say that the bee-nado season 8 opener looks like the absolute dumbest thing you could ever write, not just because it's contrived and overly dramatic, but because it's wildly, comically unrealistic and breaks suspension of disbelief in a way that 911 has never really done before. Sure, a blimp crashing into a packed stadium is kinda dumb and contrived, but at least it's a thing that could realistically happen with a (semi) realistic aftermath.
The bee-nado is so bad it's almost insulting. Killer bees are a trope that's been beaten to death, to the point where 911's had a bee related emergency before, and from the trailer, this seems to be a depiction that's much, much worse.
(Cut for people who don't want to deal with the dissertation I wrote, which. totally fair, it's over 1300 words and arguably kinda nitpicky. dw, there's a tldr at the end)
Without further ado, my unsolicited opinion. Enjoy.
First, let's get our facts straight:
One: the "killer bees" they're talking about are most likely africanized honey bees, an artificial breed of bee first cultivated and then accidentally released in brazil, which has spread north all the way up to Texas, Florida, San Diego and LA (plus more, really any southern border state) via migration.
Two: the 22 million number they mention in the trailer is, as far as I can tell, an accurate number when it comes to transporting bees commercially. Generally this is done by companies who are hired by farmers to bring beehives to their crops for pollination; they take trucks filled with bees, covered in a mesh net to try and keep them in, and drive them down to the farmland. More on this later
Three: when in trucks, honey bees can only be transported under certain conditions. If they get too hot, they tend to fly out of their hives to avoid boiling in their exoskeletons. The main ways truck drivers mitigate this is by driving at night, waiting for a cold day/week to go, or going fast enough that the wind keeps the bees cool and inside.
Four: africanized honey bees are considered an invasive nuisance in california and aren't cultivated in large masses anywhere in the US. Nests that are found are usually destroyed because of the threat they pose to public safety, and there's even
Knowing all this, let's consider the "bee-nado."
One: there's no way anyone would be transporting 22 million cultivated africanized honey bees. No company would ever want to work with them because they're an insane liability to public health, and would get them sued so quickly if anything went wrong. See: literally the season opener. And at the same time, what private beekeeper has the money to care for 400 hives of hyperaggressive bees?
Two: The transportation issues. Like I said earlier, bees are generally transported at night/during lower temperature days because bees are less active in the cold, are less prone to suffocation/leaving the hive, and are usually taken places on highways because it means less stops where the bees can escape. So why the hell are we transporting them straight through LA, a place that's notoriously hot and has traffic for days, meaning the truck would lose a bunch of its bees even if it somehow managed to avoid LA-typical traffic, because it'll have to stop at dozens of lights and slow down for tight turns that are hard to do on a trailer that size.
And that's not even mentioning that the bees aren't covered in a mesh sheet, which as far as I can tell is industry standard, or strapped down in any way to avoid death. Bees are really easy to kill on these trips, and companies are careful as hell while transporting them; there's no way the truck skidding like that (note: the trailer doesn't show it being knocked over, just skidding on the road and hitting the side of another car) would send the beehives all over the road. Dumb. As. Hell.
I do have to give the show some slack here, because as far as I can tell the temperature issues would apply less to africanized honey bees because they can withstand higher temperatures. Don't quote me on that, though, because I couldn't find any information on it because NO ONE TRANSPORTS AFRICANIZED HONEY BEES. They're a public nuisance, aren't cultivated in any large capacity, and discovered wild hives are commonly exterminated. DUMB. AS. HELL.
Past the inaccuracy, though, there's another reason this disaster bothers me, and it's because of optics.
Bees are an endangered species. They're vital to our survival, in fact. So, portraying them as 'killer bees' feels irresponsible. Say it with me:
Bees don't attack unless their hive is threatened.
Before anyone says different about africanized honey bees, they do the same thing. Stinging someone kills a bee; they won't do it just for fun (unlike wasps. I would have endorsed a wasp disaster actually, those guys can go to hell).
Obviously, the bee's hives being squashed across the highway is sure to send them into a frenzy, and it's definitely going to suck for anyone that's currently on that highway, but they're not going to travel around in packs mugging people. That sort of reputation is why people are apathetic towards, or even completely against preserving bee populations. They see bees the same way the media sees sharks; as inherently evil creatures who's only goal is human suffering, rather than living creatures with natural behaviours that are mistaken for antagonistic.
If this was just an episode long, I could definitely cut it some slack. A shorter time means less need to dramatize and mischaracterize bees as inherently predatory for the sake of drama. The way it was done in the renfaire episode a while ago was good; the bees only attacked one person because their queen was stuck in her armour. Normal bee behaviour, that's explained to the viewer and wouldn't lead to fear-mongering since there's a clear, non-antagonistic motive that's scientifically sound.
But, it's not. It's three episodes, and you just can't stretch regular bee behaviour into three episodes. Seriously, the simplest thing they can do is get everyone away from the hive to let the bees calm down, and letting exterminators take care of it. Even if the bees deem their hive destroyed and need to relocate, they generally stay in one place until the scout bees find something suitable to stay in (which can take a bit; and even then , the trailer didn't indicate the nests were crushed or anything, just thrown off the truck.)
My conclusion from all this? The season 8 opener is most likely going to be a contrived, comically unrealistic, damaging depiction of bees meant for drama and shock value, and most of all, I just think it's going to be lame. I'm sorry, you sank a cruise ship last season and the best you could come up with this time was bees? You made complicated and detailed water sets for a gorgeously written split perspective plotline in the season 2 tsunami disaster, and all you could think of was bees?? The volcano in lone star is almost impressively unrealistic, but at least it was more exciting than bees.
Please god let the rest of the season be better than this.
Important end note/disclaimer: the season isn't out yet as I'm writing this, so I literally have no idea how the portrayal is actually going to pan out. Knowing the show, they'll probably address the fact that they're africanized honey bees and not normal bees, which is a good step in the right direction. I personally don't think that's enough, since the optics are pretty fear mongering and especially dangerous with the current climate crisis and state of the bee population in the US, particularly California. If people go out thinking that it's normal for beekeepers to cultivate africanized honey bees, it'll result in a push against conservation efforts, et cetera, you get the gist.
But, I don't know how it's going to pan out. And as someone who genuinely loves this show's writing, I'm just hoping I'm wrong and I'm just taking things worse than they actually are. I know for a fact they can write so much better than this, and have written so much better than this.
The thing I love most about this show has always been how it sets itself apart from other procedurals, like greys anatomy, by creating realistic and complex drama, characters, and keeping most of its situations within the realm of possibility. This season opener feels like the first time they've sacrificed bare minimum realism for drama, and I hope to god that trend doesn't continue.
Uhhhh TLDR: killer bees are an actual type of bee that aren't cultivated, like, ever because they're considered a nuisance to be exterminated in california, and most other states. so, a random truckload of them being out in the middle of LA is wildly unrealistic. On top of that, the hives themselves are missing the usual safety precautions bee transporters have, like mesh nets and any sort of strap to stop the beehives from being flung off the truck. But it doesn't stop there, the portrayal of bees as these killer insects mugging anyone they come across is, you guessed it, also wildly unrealistic and adds to fearmongering around bees, which is not good for our critically declining populations. Their only goal is to defend their hive, and won't stray anywhere near as far as they do in the trailer.
#disclaimer that this is my own opinion and my own probably faulty research please don't yell at me#actual people who know stuff about bees please correct me if I'm getting things horrifically wrong#I'll make sure to update the post with corrections#I don't actually know anything about bees#I just saw the trailer and immediately thought it was incredibly dumb#and then went on a multi hour research binge to see if it was just me being too picky or if there actually was something off about it#this took me three hours to write#911 abc#911 season 8#911 s8 speculation#911 critical#911#911 spoilers#question mark#is the trailer a spoiler

Sept. 3 (UPI) -- An 11-year-old boy is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of two family members inside a home in Minden, La., early Sunday morning.
He is being held with a $500,000 bond set, Minden Police Chief Jared McIver said during a 2 p.m. CDT news conference Tuesday.
"We're leaning towards only one shooter," McIver told reporters. "That's not a conclusion" but "we're not seeing evidence there's another shooter."
The unidentified boy, 11, is a family member of the two deceased shooting victims, who are Joe Cornelius, 82, and his daughter, Keisha Miles, 31.
McIver declined to say how the boy is related to the two victims and said the local prosecutor has not determined if the boy will be charged as a juvenile or an adult.
Police received an emergency call reporting gun shots at a home on the 111 Austin St. at 6:30 a.m. Sunday and found Joe Cornelius and Miles dead after each had been shot multiple times.
The officers also found the boy, whose age initially was reported as 10, and two hidden firearms, McIver said.
McIver said investigators believe both firearms were used in the shootings but are awaiting forensics to confirm they were the only ones.
A guardian was present when investigators questioned the boy, who initially "gave a story that didn't add up" but eventually admitted to the shooting and how he obtained the firearms, McIver told media.
He declined to say how the boy obtained the firearms when asked by a reporter.
"If a person wants to do harm to someone, they are going to do that," McIver said. "It doesn't matter what weapon was used."
He said the next step in the investigation is to get all evidence to ensure there was no other weapon used and wait for autopsies on the victims.
A neighbor on Sunday told a reporter for KSLA News he heard about eight gunshots fired inside the home.
The neighbor said he is Cornelius' cousin and heard the boy and man arguing shortly before hearing the shots.
McIver said a family member placed the 911 call Sunday morning and the boy allegedly used two firearms to shoot and kill Cornelius and Miles, McIver said.
McIver also said investigators don't know the motive and hope to learn soon, adding that talk of the boy using a credit card for video games leading to the argument and shootings is a "rumor."
Cornelius was a "great-natured man" who worked with the city marshals and frequently made friendly visits the police station," McIver said, adding that the "shock factor" of the double homicide has affected much of the local community.
"It is with deep sadness that we mourn the loss of Joe Cornelius Sr., a former longtime Minden City councilman and former appointed mayor of Minden," the town's Mayor Nick Cox said Sunday in a prepared statement.
"Joe Cornelius' years of service to Minden were marked by his commitment and dedication to the betterment of our community. On a personal note, I am grateful for his friendship and the many ways he supported me and others in our city," Cox said.
He asked local residents to "keep Joe's family in our thoughts and prayers."
Minden is located about 30 miles east of Shreveport, La.
