Moraeshigye 2 - Act 1, script idea
(the story picks up after the last episode)
Tell me how it is!
---
After the loss of Tae Soo, Hye Rin navigates the trauma of the loss of Tae Soo and Jae Hee (달동네의 비가 / Elegy of the Shantytowns). She suspects that she has a baby, and gets confirmation of such at the doctor's.
She contemplates having an abortion, afraid of not being able to raise her son, but Woo Seok and Sun Young promise to help her out to raise the kid. She gives birth to a boy, whom she names Eui Yong (의용 義龍). She is scared of all the implications the boy's birth can come with it - not only is she a widow, but she has a baby out of wedlock with a executed, infamous gangster (달빛의 그림자 - "Moonlight Shadow" by Mike Oldfield). She decides to keep the father's identity a secret only known to Woo Seok and Sun Young.
Meanwhile, the Park Sang Beom gangster group has renamed itself to "Park Tae Soo gang" after Tae Soo, and continue their gangster activities. They become more refined, and commit robberies and black market trading. Slowly, they become the most feared gang in Seoul. A new gang member suggests to the gang to rob Hye Rin's casino, but the new leader of the gang, Tae Soo's old friend, recognizes the name and its connection to Tae Soo and Tae Soo's former lover Hye Rin, and out of respect, tells the members to avoid it at all costs. He doesn't know that Eui Yong has been born (의리 지켜야 해 - we need to keep loyalty).
Hye Rin is determined to give Eui Yong a better life than his father's, and takes on the CEO position fully. She has to oversee the casino business and faces problems for being a woman in this field, but she braves it and slowly grows the empire. Earning more money, she sends him to a posh school, where she monitors him closely (학생가 - song of the students).
One day, a newspaper report runs a story about Hye Rin and her ties to her father's death. Photos of her at Tae Soo's court hearing are published, and the rumour spreads about their involvement with each other Hye Rin is conflicted as to whether she can afford to claim Tae Soo as her baby daddy, with the casino's reputation and her income and money at stake. (화재가 된 사연 - Wildfire) Before she can say anything else, the rumours spread in the papers, and the stakeholders suggest a press conference. At a stakeholder's question who the baby's father really is, Hye Rin answers in a fluke "Jae Hee". Satisfied at the answer, she realizes that she can now successfully hide Tae Soo's identity (날 뒤에 숨겨라 - hide behind me)
Sun Young doesn't approve, saying it would be betraying Tae Soo, but Woo Seok supports Hye Rin, seeing any association with the gangsters as a problem for all of them. She enters the press conference, and its filled to the brim with reporters. Many scandalous questions are asked, and Hye Rin starts to lose hope as she keeps on lying to the reporters on her ties to Tae Soo as they question her on her involvement in his case. (명예훼손 - Accusation of Slander)
Reporter Shin, who appears late, comes just in time to realize what is happening, and saves Hye Rin by asking her neutral questions about the business, and taking up so much time that Hye Rin declares the conference for done. Reporter Shin walks up to her and they exchange their condolences regarding Tae Soo, and Hye Rin confides in Shin that Tae Soo in the father of her baby. Shin promises to keep it a secret and to help her restore her image. (달동네의 비가 - 신기자 버전 / Elegy of the Shantytowns, Reporter Shin version)
Meanwhile she gets busier and stakeholders pitch to open the casino overseas. Hye Rin is worrying for Eui Yong, but Sun Young agrees to take care of the boy.
With the help of Reporter Shin, Hye Rin manages to craft a sophisticated and mysterious image, and using Shin's influence, gets all the photos removed from the newspapers, and earns the image of a succesful businesswoman.
The years go by without any major problem in life, and the Eui Yong becomes a high schooler. Woo Seok is like his father figure, and he thinks his father is named "Park Jae Hee", his mother's bodyguard. He also starts dreaming of being a detective like Woo Seok and catch the Park Tae Soo gang - he does not know that the infamous Park Tae Soo is his father.
Seeing that, Hye Rin is conflicted, since one day she will have to break the news to him. In the midst of all this, her and Woo Seok get to spend more time together talking about thr boys education, and she catches feelings for Woo Seok again, knowing that she shouldn't. It feels like he starts warming up to her as a person again, and her and Sun Young start sharing more secrets and more time together. She gets caught in a sort of love triangle because her and Sun Young share a very close relationship too, and she owes it to Sun Young for raising the boy when she wasn't there. Sun Young also starts feeling more affection towards Hye Rin after misunderstanding her for a long time (운명이란 - the thing called destiny)

Found the first writing decision in Farscape that I'm not fond of that can't be handwaved with "Oh, it's because it's the late 90s". D'argo and Chiana romance, huh? 🤔 Not sure I buy in to it
#I think the biggest thing is that it took me entirely by surprise. Guys WHERE did this come from???? What did I miss????#I'm not super against it I just don't think they have romantic chemistry.#I'm also willing to be convinced this isn't just a ''we're both incredibly lonely and a little broken inside'' thing and is genuine#of course it's a romance plot that is the first thing I don't like as much as everything else too because I'm me lmfao#actually now that I think about it some of it CAN be explained by being made in the late 90s#Chiana is hot therefore she MUST have a romance subplot at SOME point.#Honestly I'm genuinely delighted it took until season 2 for something to hit so wrong like this for me and that it doesn't#diminish my enjoyment for the show or even the characters. it just baffles me a little lol#I've even enjoyed ''less good'' episodes for the most part because I love whimsy and fun#farscape#had a brief divestment with a kdrama my sister in law NEEDED me to see but I'm back to watching farscape again

not to sound like an annoying karen, but i honestly, truly feel that netflix has fucked up the kdrama genre for good.
just 10-ish years ago, there were kdramas that the big 3 korean channels (SBS, MBC, KBS) would broadcast and then there were kdramas that the main cable channels (jTBC and tvN) would broadcast. and between those groupings, you got everything. you got 16-20 episodes of dramas that had heartfelt writing, filmed with bright colors, filmed with concise plots, that most of the time, ended WELL. you got a GOOD ending that was complete. the works felt authentically south korean. yes, there were cheesy tropes and moments that made you cringe, but it felt so real. and you had SO many kdramas airing during the week! you couldn't keep track of just how many!
cut to netflix coming in and making it big with kdramas with squid game and some romantic works and then suddenly they (and disney+) are making these short kdramas, less than 10 episodes, with generic filters, generic plots, and poorly written scripts that are just mere shadows of what kdramas used to be. they end shitty 90% of the time. and worst of all, they feel like american shows. and no, i don't mean sex scenes or action scenes because hey, i love change there, but i mean the entire VIBES are just off. they're not the kdramas i fell in love with, the ones that felt so human. and thanks to these big, foreign companies coming in, the main broadcast channels have basically shut down 1/2 their timeslots, and so many dramas aren't even getting aired these days.
yes times change progress is great robots will probably replace us all in a few years blah blah, but it's really depressing to me personally since i have such fond memories of the utter joy of kdramas, especially from the golden era of 2008-2017. and while there are some that escape the netflix!americanized! curse, it's unfortunately the majority that remain nothing but commercial puppets, rather than authentic entertainment.

This Week in BL - Characters Voice Our Frustrations
March 2023 Wk 2
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.
Ongoing Series - Thai
Bed Friend (Sat YT, GaGa & iQIYI uncut) ep 4 of 8 - I love these two so much. King is so utterly in love with this boy. I like that this is one of the first BLs I’ve ever seen where sex is depicted as a coping mechanism. Is it healthy? No..ooo..? But it is different. It is phenomenal to see King depicted as sensitive enough to realize that something is wrong with Uea, despite his desire. (FYI all the triggers on this show forever, I’m gonna stop naming them now)
A Boss and a Babe (Fri YouTube) ep 2 of 12 - The flirting is cute. The stalking is not. There’s a Kdrama tone to this pair’s dynamic. I don’t know why I feel that way, I just do. I mind it less this week than I did last week. Cher is a funny, kindly chatterbox and a FIERCE flirt. But not a tease, as it turns out. His poor boss does not stand a chance. Interesting pacing, this is awfully early for a kiss in a Thai BL. I like GMMTV doing these generational discussions around gayness and society, even if this version is more on the nose than Moonlight Chicken.
The Promise (Thai WeTV & YT) ep 2 of 10 - I’m still enjoying it but I want there to be a good reason for parting with no contact for 10 YEARS, but I do not trust Thai narratives to satisfy in this regard. A drunk kiss is NOT a good enough reason. Oh HI BOSS! (What’s Zabb Man) you so pretty, I like the earrings.
Tin Tam Jai (Tues Gaga & iQIYI) ep 2 of 12 - Oo. There’s only one bed trope. Also queer over achiever expectations. I’ve only seen DBK address this one. Well done little pulp. The tsundere seme admitting that baby boi was his security blanket was so flipping cute. But this show is leaning into taboo stepbrother stuff. So if that wigs you out, avoid. I, however, am enjoying it. Queer fam and local neighborhood kid dynamic is cute. This is more slice of life than drama, not much is happening, but I’m okay with it.
Pastsenger (Thai Weds Gaga) 1 of 12 eps- Stars Marc (My Gear & Your Gown) and Cooper (My Engineer) in a time travel paranormal that smacks of HIStory 5. Sunshine 90s kid travels to 2022, goes to university, encounters grumpy nerd. I cannot STAND the music. Pratfall... into intentional kiss? That’s new. Of course it’s a dream. I like the 90s mentality and language rep, but I’m not sold on the show.
Chains of Heart (Sat iQIYI) ep 4 of 10 - I guess we got the backstory? Did it explain stuff? Sort of. This is still a pretty incomprehensible show. And then a random cute (+ ALL the BL tropes) date, and then “but actually I am still in love with my dead lover.” I’m so confused by characters, plot, pacing... everything.
Our Winter (Thai & Korea YT & TikTok under ThaiMiniSeries) eps 10-11 of 14 - they remain as TutorYimmy in the snow as they are out of it.
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Our Dating Sim (Korea Thurs Viki) eps 1-2 of 8 - THIS SHOW IS GOING TO RUIN MY LIFE IT’S SO GOOD. Reunion romance featuring popular smart boy + shy art queer. It’s ridiculously adorable. What do I do? It’s SO CUTE.
All the Liquors (Korea Thurs Gaga & Viki) eps 3-4 of 8 - I like the shy chef with the crush, but I wish we knew why he doesn’t want to sell booze.
Jack o’Frost (Japan Fri GaGa) ep 4 of 6 - Jealousy + manic pixie dream boy + pregnant pauses + great acting = Japan doing its thing.
It’s Airing But ...
Love Syndrome (Thai Sat WeTV) ep 2 of 10 - I’m just not into any aspect of it (except fucking Lee Long Shi and I can watch him in Tin Tem Jai) saving to binge if the ending is okay.
Blue Sky Complex (Japan ???) 5 eps for VR - Kei Ichikawa's manga is getting a JBL adaptation. Weird distribution though, it started Feb 27 sequentially on 360 Channel (SHOCHIKUch) a VR video distribution service. Will inter-fans ever get to see this, and if it’s filmed for VR will it adapt without being overly dark and fuzzy? I have questions. But as usual, you do you Japan and we will wait (im)patiently to see if you remember the rest of the world exists. This is my preferred kind of live action yaoi, so fingers crossed:
Boyband (Thai) ep 2 of 10 - Stopped airing on YouTube, and only available in Thailand & Japan. Not sure if they’re working a distribution deal or just fucking with us.
Cafe In Love (Thai ???) 10 eps on Ch3+ - Thai pulp, about trying to save a coffee shop. FairyGodBLer came through for me, but I’m collecting to binge just in case. It’s my new policy with the grey stuff.
Destiny Seeker (Tues WeTV Thailand) 10 eps - it’s not on any WeTV I can get ahold of. Bad Buddy the pulp rebirth meets Japanese handsome host club action. Same as above.
Heesu In Class 2 (Korea Thurs unknown, I check Viki Gaga iQIYI & WeTV nada) - A gay(er) version of Sex Education. I’m still not sure this one is actually happening.
Next Week Looks Like This:
Tomorrow: Future (Thai Sun YouTube & Gaga?) 5 eps - Based on a y-novel by Faddest (En of Love - yeah I didn’t know that was based on a novel, either). About, you guessed it, an engineering student and a dentist. Maybe this will be the FOTS we were all hoping for? Fuse (the engineering student) is played by Boom from the En of Love and is kinda the same character (Field). I think we can expect this one to be soft, it’s from the 21 Day Theory people. (maybe March 19 international)
3/14 A Shoulder to Cry On (Korea Tues Viki & Gaga) 7 eps (?) - Adaptation of Dongmul's manwha, high school set, features a teasing confident gay, and a rich/poor pairing, about homophobia/gossip putting a scholarship in jeopardy. Star idols Jaehan & Yechan BOTH from OMEGA X, a first for the industry.
3/17 Unintentional Love Story (Korea Fri iQIYI) 8 eps? - Ji Won Young is intent on winning over the heart of Yoon Tae Joon as he's the boss's favorite artist. Stars idol Gongchan (maknae of B1A4).
Full list of upcoming in March 2023 is here.
2023 forthcoming BL master post. (see comments, some are inaccurate, NOT KEPT UPDATED)
The Department of You Said It For Us:
You speak for ALL OF US honey. (Am I the only who keeps seeing KarnNut in these roles?) The Promise
I’d put in the gif but the giffmaking children of tumblr are sadly lacking in the unfettered genius that is Grosse Pointe Blank.
Chains of Heart reviewing itself.
THIS WEEK’S BEST MOMENTS
GMMTV continues its 2023 Apology Tour. (Boss & Babe)
King (Bed Friend) might be stealing Consent King title from Win.
(last week)
Current Kpop earworm? Hidden Side from HWANG MIN HYUN (aka Minhyun of Nu’est & Wanna One RIP) - with few exceptions I’m not usually into the visual, but this is a terribly catchy song. And the poor thing has been awfully unlucky with his groups, maybe his solo and acting career will take off?

lovely runner
it took me forever to actually sat down and do this review because no words could amount to how I felt when I was watching this show. I'm literally writing this with the OST playing in the background and on my second rewatch, it's serious business.
The plot is all up on my alley, perfect amount of fiction with real world. The acting is incredible, both leads are able to transmit every single emotion. At times I felt all giddy inside and I couldn't tell if it was due to the chemistry or just the incredible job they both did at acting.
But heavy emphasis on how good they are at acting, I've seen other dramas with both of them and they are always so good, Extraordinary You with Kim Hyeyoon is in my top 5 dramas of all time.
This plot can be messed up so easily because things can be forgotten, but my props to the writers because they did an excellent job of adding things without ruining the flow of events or the rules they had set at the beginning. The jumps they make are executed in key moments that help you get even more entranced with the story.
One issue I tend to have with kdramas is the balance between characters, there was no problem with this at all. The leads steal the show hands down and even though the side characters are set for support, you end up getting interested in them as well, but they don't take the focus away from the leads.
I got confused sometimes but my doubts were answered quickly. It's just so well done I know I will constantly rewatch it and it will stay in my top.
Plot: 90
Acting: 100
Ending: 95
TOTAL: 95/100
recommend? YES!!! absolutely

Hils Watches Goblin - Ep 1
It's time for another k-drama and this is another one that got recommended to me a few years back when I first started watching Asian dramas. Apparently 2023 is the year I finally watch the stuff that was recommended to me in 2020 😅
I don't think this will follow my usual 2 episodes per evening usual schedule. These episodes are LONG. The first one is an hour and a half. That's the length of a movie.
So, probably one episode per day for now but I'm off work all of next week so I'll have time for more then.
This one, at least, I'm sort of vaguely aware of the plot but like everything else I don't know any spoilers or anything.
And I'll need to figure out how to tag this because this drama has about 10 different titles.
But for now, let's go!
Hmm...this does not sound like it's going to have a happy ending
Okay, that is clearly a young woman wearing quite bad old person makeup and prosthetics
Oh, I know him! From Train to Busan apparently
I love that we've switched to widescreen for the dramatic flashback
After joking that this episode is as long as a movie it kind of feels like it too. Everything is Very Dramatic
I don't know what it says about me that this dude has just asked his second in command to kill him and I instantly started to ship them
Ahhhh I forgot Lee Dong Wook was in this. Look at his little face.
Oh no I love them
I really hope he is dramatic like this through the whole drama.
Look, I know this is a supernatural drama, but good lord how is she still alive after losing that much blood
Oh I forgot this was a flashback to the 90s. So the unborn baby of the woman he saved on a whim is going to grow up to save him. Aww, that's nice.
Ooh she can see things that other people can't
Oh shit! Did not see that coming
His hat is so stupid and I love him
Aww I know him from Mystic Pop Up Bar
Yep see that's who was under the old woman makeup
Slow motion walking in the rain. An important part of any kdrama
Look at all those candles. I see he's decided to embrace the full brooding gothic stereotype by living in a candlelit mansion even though it clearly has electricity
Wow I hope she gets rescued from her terrible abusive family soon
Okay, this is cute
Rude
Yeah...these two need to bang
Oh my god do they live together now?
Well, this just got awkward
Just what every girl wants to hear from their guardian god
Well, that was way more fun than I was expecting. I just wish the episodes weren't so damn long. I'll watch another one tomorrow

East Asian literature/movies/shows I've been currently enjoying:
The housekeeper and the professor (or my preferred title: Professor's beloved equation) by Yöko Ogawa – Japanese slice of life (find my short review here)
My neighbor Totoro by Studio Ghibli
Revenge: Eleven dark tales by Yöko Ogawa – slice of life-ish horror, truly grew on me
First Love: Hatsukoi – slice of life Japanese romance (find my analysis here), best thing I’ve ever watched
Little Forest – Korean slice of life movie, lots of food shots
Something in the rain – Korean slice of life romance
If cats disappeared from the world by Genki Kawamura – Japanese slice of life meets Goethe's Faust (but executes the trope better)
The guest cat by Takashi Hiraide – the most slice of life book I've read, very meditative
When the weather is fine – korean slice of life romance (find my posts about it here and here)
The Memory Police by Yöko Ogawa – dystopian fiction (if you enjoyed Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury you'll love that too)
I will be your bloom – Japanese... I don't even know how to describe the genre, it was wild, weird and wonderful, but won’t be everyone’s cup of tea
Sweet bean paste by Durian Sukegawa – Japanese slice of life, excellent in every detail
Your eyes tell – Japanese drama/romance – it wrecked me thank you very much, can't recommend it enough
Please look after my mom by Kyung-sook Shin – Korean drama, very emotional
Norwegian wood by Haruki Murakami – Japanese romance, psychological drama, but I wouldn’t call it a favorite
Crash course in romance – Korean rom com, quite enjoyable and fun to watch, really adorable and funny
Nowhere to be found by Bae Suah – a parabolic slice of life short story
Walking Practice by Dolki Min – a horror existential story about being human, not for everyone (tbh not really for me, but I was the editor of the translated version in my country)
Summer strike – aesthetic, calming and full of kdrama (fits the canon 100%), if it wasn’t for the murder case it would be perfect
Turn to me, Mukai-kun – honestly it felt like 90% of the characters on that show were either aro, ace or both and I’m so here for it
The setting sun by Osamu Dazai – a classic when it comes to today’s Japanese literature, I see the value of the story, but didn’t love it as I thought I would
Diary of a Void by Emi Yagi – weird, creepy at times, both comforting and confusing, gave me the same kind of chills as Revenge by Yōko Ogawa
Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata – an amazing short story about intolerance, surface level relationships and the incredible mechanism where men feel entitled to use women both when they conform to social expectations and when they decide to live against them
Doctor slump – heartwarming and emotional, I laughed, I cried, despite being a romance it had a great plot line about mental illnesses
Welcome to Samdal-ri – for everyone who feels overwhelmed by the world and needs a place to return to, very emotional, I cried like a baby more than once, would watch three more seasons of it

My Hobbies
Hi, Good Day! I'm Angel Casiano and I'd like to share to you guys my hobbies!
One of my hobbies is
1.Photography
My interest in photography began during the pandemic because I was just cooped up in my room and always on my phone, until a content creator's photos appeared on my newsfeed and I was captivated by their beauty. So I said I wanted to take pictures too, and since then, I've been taking photos whenever I think something looks beautiful. Through photography, I can experiment with perspectives and techniques to capture my vision. It lets me tell stories and express emotions visually, preserving special moments and memories that bring joy when I look back.
2. Singing
Since I was a child, I've really loved singing, probably because my mother also loved to sing. I sing when I'm sad, happy, while working, or while studying because I feel that singing calms me down. When I was a child, I used my singing to earn money because when there was a karaoke party at home or a birthday, my aunts and uncles would ask me to sing, and if I scored 90 or higher, they would give me money. Recently, I joined a contest at our school (Got Talent) on February 19, as part of the 41st anniversary celebration. Our band's name was Renaissance, and we ranked third in that contest. Even though we didn't win, I was still happy because of the experience.
3. Cooking
I enjoy cooking because I am the eldest among my siblings and to help with household chores, my mom taught me how to cook. At first, I could only cook hotdogs and eggs, but as I kept at it, I learned to cook Buttered Shrimps, Pinakbet, Bicol Express, Pinaupong Manok, and many more dishes. My favorite dish to cook is Binagoongan because it is mouthwatering, even just by the smell of it, and it is also one of my family's favorite dishes.
4. . Watching Kdrama
I love watching K-dramas because they have interesting plots and relatable characters. The production quality is great, with beautiful visuals and catchy soundtracks. The emotional depth and romance in K-dramas draw me in and keep me entertained.

No because why are kdramas so much more violent and unrestricted but also somehow they never touch the subjects they used to do in the 90s and early 2000's most of the plots are so meh now it's all so incredibly beige and sanitized where is the mess the dysfunction the trauma the tragedy the impossible love stories the f*cked up leads
i have never seen a kdrama from the 90s or 2000s so i have no idea what was going on there lol but i do need some fucked up shit to happen. fucked up shit is not someone getting a chainsaw to their face, fucked up shit was in oldboy when you find out he was tricked into fucking his own daughter. fucked up shit is when you find out what's in the box at the end of se7en and how the story comes full circle. fucked up shit is something that makes you sit there in silence after you finished watching something and you stare at your reflection in the black screen of your tv/computer

Re-reading my own fic + reaction
Once upon a time, back when Yashahime was airing, I posted a few chapters of my sessrin fic titled 'Ice King, Icing' on AO3. I eventually ran out of steam, life got in the way (as it always does) plus I had some negative experiences within the fandom which got to me.
It's been at least a year since I last touched it, and I barely remember the plot.
So now that I've got my laptop back, it's time for a reread with fresh eyes. Let's see if it's any good!
Chapter 1:
Okay, I'm recalling the story a little now. The end result is a lot better than I thought it was at the time, I put a lot of research into everything (and I needed to, because I know nothing about 90% of the things I was writing about here). I enjoyed reading the worldbuilding just as much as I enjoyed writing and imagining it. This chapter shows glimpses of a modern world where humans and youkai coexist, and how they manage to do it.
While writing, I was worried the setting descriptions may be too much, but it feels just right to me as a reader. There's just a LOT of effort that went into this chapter and I'm glad it shows.
I feel like I should have more criticism for this chapter but somehow I don't. So here's the fun fact of the chapter instead: Rin was originally supposed to work at the cafe Kagome and Sango go to! The original draft had a more detailed description of the cafe for that reason, but I scrapped it and gave her a normal office job because it didn't feel right. I still wanted the cafe to have a personal connection to one of the characters, so I had Kohaku design it instead.
Chapter 2:
So some interesting plot points are introduced in this chapter. This story was basically based on three what ifs- what if Sesshomaru's good side came out before he met Rin? What if he didn't give Rin the choice to travel with him, and sent her away instead? And what if we still had time travel in this modern AU?
This is where the story and Sesshomaru and Rin's relationship deviates from canon. I love canon, obviously, but I was so intrigued by these questions. So Ice King, Icing was born, lol.
I also wanted Rin to roast Sess
I don't have any complaints for this chapter either. I caught a couple of grammatical errors, but shh. Also I was clearly having so much fun writing it.
Fun fact of the chapter: Kagome still has her purification powers and is still a reincarnation of Kikyo. But Inuyasha and Kikyo are inconsequential characters to each other here. Kagome is from the year 2318, and travelled 300 years in the past- to 2018- which is the year this story is set.
Chapter 3:
Another chapter where I was worried the descriptions and story of Rin's life may be too much, but it wasn't. Homegirl is out here living the life we can only dream of :')
We finally get a good chunk of Sess POV here, and the characterization is satisfactory. Again, big sigh of relief- he was SO difficult to write. I also had an evil chuckle reading Rin's flashbacks and Kaede's worries that her childhood saviors may have found her again- yes, lady, that's THE POINT. We are HERE for some hurt/comfort. Also eviler chuckling at my past self for managing to sneak in some Captain America trio references.
This reread is turning out a lot better than I expected. I'm really enjoying this a lot!
Fun fact of the chapter: The subject line of Jaken's email seems to reference the kdrama 'A Business Proposal', but Ice King Icing did it first :) (chapter posted in April 2021, drama released in 2022)
Chapter 4:
Kagome to the rescue! That's all I'll say ;)
Okay no. I shouldn't be surprised at how much I enjoyed reading this chapter, again, the whole fic is a banger. It has everything I want in a sessrin fic- not surprising, because I wrote it myself. I remember writing the balcony scene and Sesshomaru's realization and giggling to myself at how hilarious it was. Plot forcing them to spend time together by making him hide her from his father= a romcom classic that I'll never get tired of.
Fun fact of the chapter (and mild spoiler): the mystery girl that has been following Kagome will be revealed in the next chapter, along with her motives.
Conclusion:
As I said in the chapter notes, this fic isn't abandoned. I've just gone on hiatus from all my fics for a while because irl is taking up all my time and energy. I enjoyed writing this fic a lot though, and I will definitely update and try to complete it. Just not sure when.

I love that so much of DFQC’s arc isn’t so much change, as returning to himself he would have been if his tree of emotion was never destroyed and honestly, he is a genuinely likeable person. What strikes me is not how much he cares for Orchid (after all, chicken bro is ready to destroy the universe for his girl, and it’s not exactly admirable) but how much he is fine with her autonomy, with putting her needs first (unlike chicken bro for whom Chidi Woman is a vessel for what he wants; he knows she’d be appalled and he doesn’t care.) He spent the bulk of today’s eps thinking she was fancying CH but other than carping, he did nothing about it.

This OTP is going on my all time favorite list. I love how utterly equal they are. He bears the spike for her and she bears the cave for him, but for the both it’s not just for the right to be with the other person, it’s for the people - as a way to showing commitment and duty.

Hi! Do you have any recs from 2022 or 23 regarding rom-com kdramas like crash course in romance? I finished it today. Some of the last few I've watched have kinda traumatized me.. like snowdrop (idk why I watched that, prob cuz I wanted the lead to have a shot at love and not get shot), Why her (it's amazing, but never again), adamas (is there even a part 2?). *Clears throat* I, uh- would be grateful if you could give me some suggestions that end on a lighter and happy note.. thankyou!
Oh gosh, the pickings are a bit slim since I lean towards things that traumatize me and haven't watched a *ton* of the stuff that came out last year/this year. But there's still a few good ones!
The first one that came to mind was The Law Cafe. While it dives into some hard topics, the tone is overall lighthearted and it has a happy ending. The ml was a bit frustrating at times but he always came thru. I think it deserved better honestly like it felt like just me and three other people watched it.
Summer Strike has a murder plot but I think if you could handle the one in ccir then you can handle this. Plot-wise it is not perfect but ohhhh the couple is top ten for me. They're so so cute together and I love how they both have such soft personalities. Pairings tend to be more opposites attract so it was lovely to see two gentle people fall for each other. Also Siwan! My favorite guy ❤️
Hometown Cha Cha Cha is from 2021 but if you haven't seen it and enjoyed ccir then I think it'd be perfect for you! It has the same director so a lot of the things I liked in ccir felt reminiscent of homecha. The plot is like 90% lighthearted and it has a very happy ending. I didn't enjoy it as much as ccir but it's still really cute and well worth the watch.
Gaus Electronics is just straight unhinged comedy. Never seen a kdrama like it lol. just give the first two eps a shot (most people get put off by ep one but it mellows out) and you'll see what I mean.
The Fabulous I kinda forgot about her after ep 2 but it was a fun watch up until then at least lol and I'm p sure it has a happy ending. If you like fashion and minho (SHINee) then it's the drama for you 😌💅
Wish I had more recs but like I said I haven't watched a ton of recently airing stuff, much less non-traumatizing stuff. Hope you find someone you like. ❤️❤️❤️

crash landing on you
Starting this kdrama was so confusing (my fault) because I'm so used to dramas having a hint of fantasy that I thought it was going to be a time travel concept. But obviously as the first episode progressed I realized my mistake, and I have to say I appreciate a different type of plot!
I got so invested with the show I forgot to write down my opinions but it was a mix of everything good to me, a different and interesting plot that I had not seen before, a classic relationship trope that just always HITS!
I think what was even more captivating was the fact that I was not able to predict what would happen because of the plot, it was set so specifically that everytime I tried to come up with a solution it just didn't make sense to me (however I did have a preference but I knew it would not play out).
I just appreciated the acting, the chemistry and the plot so much there's not a lot I can say without spoiling anything because of how specific everything is. The entire cast was incredible, every single character was perfect. The only thing I personally felt was lacking was the ending, I did feel like it was missing the essence of the entire show, like it was missing a "punch".
I will 100% be rewatching this soon.
Plot: 95
Acting: 90
Ending: 70
TOTAL: 85/100
recommend? yes!

oh really? i think it might've started from my anime days i always loved anime characters in glasses and it just crossed over to all forms of media 🤣 whenever they make a character take them off i'm like no put them back on! 😂
i understand being critical with kdramas i am too especially this year a lot of kdramas have fallen flat for me in the second half 😭 i tend to go into all dramas with no expectations & most of the time i don't really know what i'm going in to watch i love not knowing about the plot or anything 🤣 since i mostly watch for certain actors (it makes my drama viewing experience so much more enjoyable since 90% of the time i can't be disappointed, but i won't lie i'm very easy to please at the same time 😂)
have to agree with you on joseph zeng i'm glad mysterious lotus casebook introduced me to him (that's why i ended up watching RoTF) & how could you not be ??? that man is so 🥰🥰🥰🥰
you also watched Warm on A Cold Night?? i loved that drama! i've been with bi wenjun since his idol producer days 🥹 so i watched that for him & i loveeed BFTB too another ending that left me a bit annoyed — userdramas secret santa 🎄
From my anime days I was always a sucker for a white haired man. I blame Inyuasha T_T.
I think its because kdramas take themselves a bit more seriously and is comparable to western standards. Whereas cdramas are a bit more loose (prob because of the limitations/censorship).
I think many kdramas started falling flat for me like 2020.. IDK it was a weird shift? maybe. I can't explain it. Maybe it's because I haven't seen my favorite setting in a WHILE. I miss medical dramas. There's been some but not enough lol. IDK. Maybe next year will be better for both you and me!
I WISH I could go in no expectations but I always do. That would be a much better watch. I don't usually watch dramas solely for actors. I have to like what the plot is about. Even if I love the actor, I wont watch if it has tropes I don't like. I wont say I'm difficult but I'm not easy either lol.
No he really isssss. He has such a pleading face. IDK. He always looks like he cares so much. AHH. I'm just... he's so cute!
Yesss I loved Warm on a Cold Night! I was just a bit disappointed by how oblivious they made the female lead for so long. The ending was alright, but I wasn't 100% happy with it. But I enjoyed so much of it. My first drama of his was (tech Sweet Tai Chi but I didn't finish it only watched like once episode so I don't count it) Sweet Teeth. I thought they looked so good together.
BFTB--ALL Fantasy dramas end like this basically and it drives me CRAZY.
