In your rewrite, do Felix and Turbo happen to have history together? Or is Felix just extremely hyper fixated on the Turbo lore? (Kind of like a true crime addict)

In short? They have history! I love Hammertastic as toxic exes (on both ends) but I’m not gonna push that narrative since it’s not inherently canon. Basically in the rewrite it can be read as “used to be friends” or “oh. Goodness. The narrative between them they tried to erase but it haunts them like a ghost from their past” etc etc.

((ALL OF THIS LORE EXPLAINED IS MY HEADCANON aka my truth lol YOU DONT HAVE TO VIEW THEM LIKE THIS! ESPECIALLY IN TERMS OF MY REWRITE! I will never force a perspective. For example, Ralph and Turbo know each other in my rewrite too, if you wanna imagine Demolition Derby instead of Hammertastic that’s cool too!))

Felix is NOT fixated on Turbo at all. Even barely remotely interested in him as a concept anymore. But back in the day they bonded over being neighbors and protagonists of their games (Turbo was kinda focused on how Felix ‘won medals’ and found that as mutual ground to stand on. Felix just thought Turbo needed to talk to someone and stepped in 😭)

This horribly started a relationship! Nothing out in the open, despite Turbo being vocal about all of his ‘wins’ (this basically means he didn’t see Felix as a prize to be won). As much as Turbo is painted in a bad light and was the openly toxic one, Felix isn’t blameless. Felix constantly dodged issues, half way viewing a “Just don’t let it bother you!” Mindset which clashed with Turbo’s “confront the system” mindset. Basically whenever Turbo had a problem it was swept under the rug, and nothing was discussed. Whenever Felix had an issue Turbo was either gung ho on confronting whoever caused it (more for his own self image rather than actually HELPING felix) or could half ass trying to convince Felix he is the best (of his game, at least) and would offer to take Felix on a drive to take his mind off of it (Felix never took this offer. Claimed driving ‘scared’ him. Cough no he just didn’t wanna do it cough)

This isn’t to say they didn’t get along or didn’t have a basis for a relationship. Felix cared, and Turbo isn’t heartless (at this point in time at least). The King Candy persona was not out of the blue, Turbo was always silly and ridiculous when he wanted to be (I just forget to draw it LOL) and Felix found all of his antics to be hilarious. I also think this is works well bc Felix never meets King Candy in WIR :] coulda made some connections…

ANYWAYS! All that to say “erm. Maybe!” Teehee I love thinking about them <3 they do end up seeing each other again in the rewrite and ohh!! Boy!!! But that’s for another time

What they think of each other (before they start dating)

Felix towards Turbo

Felix definitely thinks that Turbo is a little weird, but that makes him all the more interesting!

He ADORES Turbo’s laugh. He thinks that it’s just the sweetest thing, and it brings joy to his heart that someone could be so candid.

More on that Candid thing, I feel like Felix doesn’t see enough Honesty and Earnesty in his day to day, living with the nice landers. The closest he gets is Ralph, but he finds Ralph way too awkward to be around, so when he meets someone who has that level of raw emotion? It appalls him at first, but eventually draws him in.

He really wants him to work on his manners.

The thought of him being invited to ride his kart with him makes Felix beet red. He writes it off as simply feeling too scared to ride.

He’s a little jealous of his ability to be so confident.

He worries about Turbo’s hygiene. A LOT. As you’d expect, he has definitely come to visit the penthouse smelling like he definitely hasn’t taken a shower in a while, and it gets the Nicelanders pretty upset.

Felix isn’t sure if it could be his mental health or his constant business that’s causing him to be so… dirty for lack of a better term, and he’s not sure which alternative is better.

That is to say, Turbo’s mental health has really concerned him as well.

Turbo towards Felix

Turbo thinks Felix is a goody-two-shoes, but finds it very endearing.

He wishes he could have him all to himself, away from those other ���useless, judgy people’ in the penthouse.

He really wishes that he would loosen up a little.

He could help with that.

The thought of him inviting him to ride his kart with him makes him weak in the knees. He’s unsure why, but probably tries to convince himself it’s just because he couldn’t imagine anyone else touching his kart.

He sees past Felix’s ‘reliance’ on the golden hammer, secretly really appreciating his kindness and hospitality despite everyone else being rather cross with him.

Generally finds him pleasant and helpful to be around. It brightens up his mood every time he sees him, and makes all his unsavory thoughts go away, even if just for a little while.

He wonders if he notices how bad he’s actually doing, how down the drain his mental health has been since the start.

why yes i do!! however i do have a different look on them all things considered. despite not really shipping them myself i do think there's potential there and they're quite funny.

i like to think that they used to date before turbo kind of uh. lost his head due to everything. and that what attracted felix was that confidence but overall genuine care turbo had for others. but as time passed, turbo became much more unpleasant, and even though it hurted felix, he just didn't want to be with the guy anymore. it got worse since i think that, turbo might've told felix about his plan of crashing on roadblasters, and felix told him, begged turbo to not do that, and turbo ended up breaking up with him as a result. it adds more to it if you view felix being genuinely heartbroken for a long time and blaming himself for what had happened, and ralph, even though they weren't close at that moment, tried to comfort felix after those events, even if he didn't fully got what was going on.

knowing that turbo was tormenting a kid for 15 years kind of. fucking horrified him to say the least

im in love with how you characterize Turbo! do you have any random headcanons about him off the top of your head that youd be comfortable sharing? it can be about anything

I totally think Felix and Turbo were a thing. Because it makes things juicy and interesting.

But they did break up shortly before the Roadblasters incident.

It was actually a case of Turbo sabotaging the relationship. He consciously made himself just difficult enough that Felix would want to break it off himself.

Turbo thought by doing this, he was actually saving Felix even more heartbreak, because by then he was already resolved to sabotage Roadblasters. Knowing the arcade would hate him for it, he did not want to be known as Felix’s boyfriend when he did it and drag the carpenter down with him.

… He did not save Felix the heartbreak btw
