7 Ways to Lose Weight
It’s no secret that obesity rates in America are on the rise. And while there are many factors contributing to this growing problem, one thing is for certain – if you want to lose weight, you need to be proactive about it.
Of course, that’s easier said than done. With work, family, and social obligations, it can be hard to find the time and motivation to hit the gym or cook a healthy meal.
But don’t despair – there are plenty of small changes you can make to your daily routine that will help you shed those unwanted pounds. Here are 7 easy ways to lose weight and get on the path to a healthier you.
1. Cut out processed foods
2. Eat more fruits and vegetables
3. Get enough protein
4. Avoid sugary drinks
5. Avoid refined carbs
6. Get enough sleep
7. Be active

1. Cut out processed foods
One of the best ways to lose weight is to cut out processed foods. Processed foods are usually high in calories and low in nutrients, so they can contribute to weight gain. They’re also often high in sodium, which can cause water retention and bloating.
To make sure you’re not eating too many processed foods, check the labels when you’re grocery shopping. Avoid anything that has a long list of ingredients, or anything that contains partially hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, or other unhealthy additives.
You should also try to cook more meals at home using fresh ingredients. This can be a bit more time-consuming than buying processed foods, but it’s worth it if you’re trying to lose weight. Homemade meals are usually lower in calories and unhealthy ingredients than their processed counterparts.
If you do eat processed foods, be sure to balance them out with healthy choices. For example, if you have processed food for breakfast, make sure your lunch and dinner are full of fresh, whole foods. And, of course, don’t forget to exercise regularly and stay hydrated!

2. Eat more fruits and vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are not only low in calories, but they are also high in fiber. Fiber helps to keep you feeling full, so you are less likely to overeat. Fruits and vegetables are also high in nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. All of these nutrients are essential for good health.
Eating more fruits and vegetables is one of the best ways to lose weight and improve your health. To make it easy to eat more fruits and vegetables, keep them on hand and make them part of every meal. Add a sliced apple to your oatmeal, top your salad with diced avocado, or eat a side of roasted vegetables with your dinner.
You can also get your fill of fruits and vegetables by drinking them in smoothie form. Add a banana, some berries, and a cup of spinach to your blender and you’ll have a delicious and nutritious smoothie that will help you reach your weight loss goals.

3. Get enough protein
Getting enough protein can be one of the most effective ways to lose weight. Protein helps to keep you feeling full longer, boosts your metabolism, and helps to build lean muscle mass. All of these factors can lead to weight loss.
How much protein you need depends on your weight, gender, and activity level. The general recommendation is to consume 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. So, for a 150-pound person that would be about 55 grams of protein per day. Active people or those looking to build muscle may need closer to 1 gram per kilogram of body weight.
You can get protein from a variety of sources, including meat, poultry, fish, dairy, eggs, legumes, nuts, and seeds. It’s important to mix up your sources of protein to get all the essential amino acids your body needs. Aim to include protein at every meal and snack.
If you’re having trouble meeting your protein needs, there are a few supplements you can try. Protein powders, bars, and drinks are convenient and easy ways to increase your intake. Just be sure to choose products that are low in sugar and calories.

4. Avoid sugary drinks
If you want to lose weight, one of the things you should avoid is sugary drinks. This includes sodas, energy drinks, and even some fruit juices. Though they may seem harmless, these drinks can add a lot of sugar and calories to your diet.
Sugary drinks are often high in calories, but low in nutrients. This means that you can end up taking in a lot of empty calories when you drink them. They can also cause spikes in your blood sugar levels, which can lead to cravings and increased hunger.
If you’re trying to lose weight, it’s best to avoid sugary drinks altogether. You can opt for water, unsweetened tea, or sparkling water instead. These drinks are all low in calories and can help you stay hydrated throughout the day.

5. Avoid refined carbs
When it comes to weight loss, refined carbs are the enemy. These are the types of carbs that have been processed and stripped of their nutrients, making them essentially worthless in terms of helping your body function.
Refined carbs are found in a lot of processed foods, including white bread, pastries, cakes, and even some healthy-sounding snacks like granola bars. They can also be found in some seemingly healthy foods like fruit juices and sports drinks.
The trouble with refined carbs is that they cause your blood sugar to spike, which leads to sugar cravings and eventually weight gain. They also don’t provide your body with any real nutrition, so you end up feeling hungry soon after eating them.
If you’re serious about losing weight, you need to avoid refined carbs as much as possible. This means making some changes to your diet and being more mindful of the foods you’re eating.
Instead of white bread, opt for whole wheat or grain bread. Choose brown rice over white rice, and steel-cut oats instead of instant oatmeal. If you’re craving something sweet, have a piece of fruit or a small snack that contains natural sugars instead of eating a processed dessert.
It takes a bit of effort to avoid refined carbs, but it’s worth it if you want to lose weight and improve your overall health.
6. Get enough sleep
We all know that defined cheekbones and a slender waistline can make us look fabulous, but what many of us don’t realize is that losing weight can also be beneficial for our health. Getting enough sleep is one way to help boost your metabolism and promote weight loss.
When we’re tired, our bodies tend to make choices that lead to weight gain. For instance, we’re more likely to reach for unhealthy snacks instead of fruits or vegetables, and we’re less likely to have the energy to go for a walk or hit the gym. When we don’t get enough shut-eye, our bodies produce more of the hormone ghrelin, which increases our appetites, and we also have less of the hormone leptin, which tells us when we’re full.
A lack of sleep can also lead to cravings for high-calorie foods. When we’re sleep-deprived, our brains are more likely to crave foods that are high in fat and sugar. This is because these foods give us a quick burst of energy, which is what we need when we’re tired.
So, how much sleep do we need in order to see weight-loss benefits? Experts recommend that adults get seven to eight hours of sleep per night. But, if you’re trying to lose weight, you may need even more. A recent study found that people who slept for nine hours per night and took in fewer calories during the day lost more weight than those who slept for eight hours.
If you’re having trouble sleeping, there are a few things you can do to help yourself fall asleep and stay asleep. First, create a bedtime routine and stick to it. This could include taking a relaxing bath, reading a book, or spending a few minutes writing down your thoughts in a journal. You should also avoid caffeine and alcohol before bed, as these can make it difficult to fall asleep. And, finally, make sure your bedroom is dark, quiet, and cool—a space that’s conducive to sleep.

7. Be active
If you want to lose weight, being active is one of the best things you can do. You don’t have to go to the gym to be active; there are tons of other ways to get moving. Here are a few ideas:
• Take a dance class
• Go for a walk or run outside
• Ride your bike
• Do some yard work
• Play with your kids
Being active doesn’t have to be hard work. You can start slow and work your way up. Just remember that the more you move, the more calories you’ll burn, and the more weight you’ll lose.
Losing weight can be a difficult and frustrating process, but it is possible to achieve results by making some simple changes to your lifestyle. By following the tips in this article, you can make a commitment to lose weight and improve your health in the process.

it's kinda weird that when you look at health recommendations for various medical conditions associated with fatness it's always 'just lose 10% of your body weight to see a risk reduction' (so like 20-30 pounds for the average overweight or obese person according to the bmi) but then in day to day medicine there's not really a way of like, removing obesity as a diagnosis on your insurance paperwork for example, even if by a certain standard you've lost enough weight to reduce the risk of health conditions that insurance would be concerned about. if you're an average height weighing 300 pounds and lose 30 pounds, which seems to be the amount that's considered reasonable to lose and maintain if you want to like, reduce your cholesterol, you've gone from morbidly obese to morbidly obese.
#beyond like the more pervasive stigma that i think has been around for a lot of history around fatness#i think the biggest reason behind the current concern over obesity in the US especially is uh. capitalism#there's always this addition about look at how much money these people cost us!! and its like who's us. insurance companies?#idk one one hand it's nice to see that medical science is maybe being kinder now than when i was an overweight 11 year old lmao#like when i was a kid it was hey this index that is not accurate for your age and sex says you need to lose 15 pounds#and then constant badgering about it until i got sick dropped 5 pounds and fit the graph better or whatever#and then i continued to gain weight for the next 7 years until i treated my insulin resistance#but i genuinely got worse and stricter treatment as overweight than morbidly obese because i think now that I'm 250 and an adult#they're like yeah you're just fat we're not going to bother beyond the legally required warnings#also when i was 11 it was uhhhh 2016 so middle of the obama admin when fat kids were the topic du jour#but the way they talked about it was like if I didn't stay under 130 pounds for the rest of my life i might as well drop dead#so seeing hey if you lose like 25 pounds you're good and you don't need to drop over 100 is. Comparatively better#still shitty advice for insulin resistant people IMO but whatever

I think we have a similar body type! You look great, what's your workout routine?
Thank you!!
So, 4 days a week, I do a combination of 45 minutes of cycling and a 5-minute weight-training set (bicep curls, hammer curls, tricep dips, etc.) with 3- lb weights, I do hot yoga (I'm a CorePower C2 girlie) 2 days a week, and I take a rest day. I also walk whenever possible, but that goes without saying.
That said, everybody's ideal workouts are subjective like I started cycling because I can't run due to my eating disorder giving me early-onset osteoporosis so once I started eating, I needed to do cardio to maintain my weight even if I wasn't actively trying to lose weight (fun fact: if you're trying to LOSE weight, you have to change your diet, exercise alone won't do much). Like, I hike when possible but I'm pretty slow due to my bones not being what you'd expect for a healthy 20-something woman thanks to aforementioned eating disorder.
Does that help?
#answered#anonymous#wellness tag#I give advice sometimes#the way weight gain from eating disorders go is like#you gain more weight than is natural for your frame#and then once you have a normal diet and exercise routine you lose weight to get to your ~ideal~#I started out at around 80 pounds#got to almost 130 and when I adjusted my diet and exercise routine I'm now about 117-120#and I haven't changed much since then except when I gained like 5-7 pounds this summer which I've thankfully basically lost#stress does that lol

Binge-reading Dungeon Meshi because it's the only thing standing between me and suicide ngl.
#it at least gave me the single molecule of mental energy required to force myself to eat at least one slice of bread#because it's like the physical energy is there sure but mentally I'm like 'noooooo I don't want to eat anything i hate food#all food tastes bad and i hate life and i want to eat nothing at all and furthermore i need to lose weight so i should starve myself'#I'm thinking that it might actually make me last until I either convince the crisis center that I'm for fucking real for real#or until my appointment with the school counselor. which idk when would be because i was supposed to go on the#2nd of April but i guess there might be holidays because he called me when i was atva lecture but i couldn't take it#because i had a lecture and he hasn't called since but I'm assuming#that hell call again and that he wants to let me know that the date is impossible#but I want to like wait and see what he says. and if he goes like 'oh actually im on a long vacay now goodbye forever'#or whatever I'll just go '...slay' and ride my ass to the hospital tomorrow.#show up at the crisis centre looking exactly like the patients with chronic pain who report pain 7 while looking unphased#like 'hello i am an active danger to myself I can't get out of bed most days; i need 16 hours of sleep to function for 4 hours#my meds have stopped working I haven't eaten anything but exactly 2 pancakes and a slice of bread in the past 4 days#and i exhibit a strong refusal to change this marked by thoughts present in people affected by eating disorders. no activity#feels fun anymore and they were marked by a strong sense of anxiety a few days ago but now i just feel nothing at all.#at this point I'm not even refusing to do any of my hobbies because im increasingly afraid of failure and its#consequences while being hunted for sport by anxiety from the opposite end telling me that i need to finish 50 masterpieces#immediately or nobody will ever like me again and they'll all see me for the talentless fraud i am. at this point i just don't care.#i don't do anything because i feel sluggish and my body is heavy and I'm so so tired and I'm tired of being awake and I can't think straight#also i think i might be going into a psychotic episode again.'#they're gonna tell me to get the fuck out of their faces anyway but it's worth a try.#like idk i feel like they might kinda listen because yesterday I guess they wouldn't have but today i have stopped caring about cars#and looking both ways. which is like. not a good sign probably. also yesterday i was still somewhat able to talk to people#even though i was in a very irritated and drained out state but today I'm feeling like if anyone even fucking attempts to talk to me#or if i hear any loud fucking sound at all I'm just gonna punch myself in the head until the pain drowns out all the sound

halsey's discography and the age of 28 is sooooo. i hope you make it to the day you're 28 years old. posting a birthday card captioned "i made it to the day im 28 years old. im one hundred ninety-six in dog years (1 human year = 7 dog years and 196/7 = 28). i watched my friends die before twenty-one, and now im twenty-eight im at the doctor's every day because i can't stop losing weight. for her to tweet about this album being their 2 year old existential crisis, when she was actually 28 years old (and possibly not sure if she would survive her illness) to the great impersonator being one of their rawest, deeply emotional albums yet some of her most critically acclaimed bodies of work so far.......it takes a lot of courage to share your most personal pieces of art with the world but im so glad they did because it will touch so many lives in a positive way

some things i've manifested
these are some basic stories, but i have some "crazy" ones i might share if you guys want lol
note: before manifesting i used to have a pretty "normal" life. i was conventionally attractive, middle classs, etc. i didn't really "need" anything but a social life and better grades. regardless of that, i just manifested whatever i wanted and didn't limit myself. i also added a few little stories behind them.
appearance change:
changed my hair texture to curly
grew from 5'2 to 5'6
clear, even skin and skin tone (tbh i already had a really good skincare routine, my skin was super clear bc of that BUT my face used to be like 10 shades darker than the rest of my body and i had CRAZY backne and strawberry legs)
losing 30 pounds (i used to be 72kg, now i'm 58kg)
changed my shoe size (i used to be size 9 now i'm size 7)
changed my hand size (for reference, my hands used to be a little longer than my phone, i had a "pro max" sized phone.)
social life:
having good friends in my state (im from up north and was completely lonely in the state i live in now)
popularity (i used to be pretty irrelevant but now everybody likes me and wants to be around me)
getting my sp's (i manifested them from scratch and took inspired action to meet them)
having people crush on me more overtly/ getting approached more (this is kind of a weird one, before my appearance change i was pretty attractive like maybe a 7/10, but i got tired of people just ogling me and not approaching me. i only had the unattractive and overconfident guys approaching me, all the attractive ones just stared lol)
just being likable lol (people used to feel threatened by me or feel like i was standoffish for some reason. idrk tbh but it was VERY annoying. i literally used to get accused of "acting like i own the place" for being quiet and just existing 💀. i didn't really care what they thought, but i hated when they complained about it and tried to make it my problem.)
school:
higher gpa (i used to have a 3.0 but i manifested a 3.8, which is a weighted 4.0)
high grades (i used to fail many tests/exams and have a mix of a, b, and c's. now they're all a's)
dream college acceptance
teachers liking me (they actually used to hate my guts it was so annoying 😭)
school crushes liking me back (tbh they probably thought i was already attractive but they never spoke to me or seemed like they wanted to get to know me)
leaving early (my school day ends at like 12 now)
lifestyle:
living closer to the city
having my dream routine (i have my dream skincare products, haircare products, diet, and health routines.)
having a high self concept (tbh i technically always did, i knew what i wanted and deserved. i just felt more like i was being injusticed. so i got rid of the "unwilling victim" mentality. i also used to ruminate on irrelevant things, like mistakes i made, what people thought of me, etc.)
very high confidence (in my looks, abilities, judgement, etc.)
money for my parents and myself
having a busy, productive life (i used to hate school because my grades weren't contributing to anything i wanted to do in life, so i wanted a productive life outside of that.)
always getting my way
getting all sorts of things for free
and more!
i'd say this all took me around 2-3 months, not because manifesting takes time, but because i assumed a lot of things would take time. i also had periods of doubt in myself and tried to handle things in the 3d on my own for some time.. which obviously didn't work. still, all i did was assume and accept these things as true and they happened overnight, in a day, or within that week. the longest anything's taken me is like 7 days, and that was because i kept wavering in my mind. manifestation is truly instant.
but anyways, i hope this is motivational and helpful. i do have some pretty "ridiculous" stories like some revenge stories, "crazy" stories regarding sp's, some not very appropriate stories, really good things happening to me, and others.
thanks for reading! i hope this helps.

With a little dedication and effort, you can reach your weight-loss goals and start feeling better about yourself. Read on for more tips on how to lose weight and keep it off for good.
1. Cut out processed foods
2. eat more plants and less meat
3. reduce portion sizes

1. Cut out processed foods
eating processed foods is one of the leading causes of weight gain and obesity. When you eat processed foods, your body is unable to process and break down the nutrients properly, leading to weight gain. processed foods are also high in sugar and calories, which can contribute to weight gain.
Cutting out processed foods is one of the best ways to lose weight and live a healthier life. When you cut out processed foods, you will be eating healthier, whole foods that are rich in nutrients and low in calories. This will help your body to lose weight, and you will also be reducing your risk of developing obesity and other chronic health conditions.

2. Eat more plants and less meat
Most people who want to lose weight know that they need to cut down on the amount of food they eat. But not all calories are created equal. Just because a food is low in calories doesn’t mean it’s good for weight loss. In fact, some “healthy” foods can actually make it harder to lose weight.
That’s why it’s important to focus on eating more plants and less meat. plant-based foods are generally lower in calories and fat than animal-based foods. And they’re also packed with fiber, which can help you feel fuller for longer.
Of course, you don’t have to go completely vegetarian or vegan to see results. Even cutting back on meat a few days a week can make a difference. So if you’re looking to slim down, eat more plants and less meat.

3. Reduce portion sizes
If you're looking to lose weight, one pound per week is a solid goal. Reducing the amount of food you eat at each meal is one way to help achieve this. Creating a calorie deficit of 500 calories per day will help you lose one pound per week.
You can reduce your portion sizes by measuring your food, using smaller plates, and avoiding overeating. When you're eating out, you can also ask for a to-go box and save half of your meal for later.
Reducing your portion sizes is one way to create a calorie deficit and lose weight. By measuring your food, using smaller plates, and avoiding overeating, you can control the amount of food you eat and help achieve your weight loss goals.

4. Eat more slowly
There are many benefits to eating more slowly. One of the most obvious is that it can help you control your portions, leading to weight loss. When you savor each bite and take the time to really taste your food, you are more likely to feel satisfied with less.
Another benefit of eating more slowly is that it allows your body time to register that you are full. It takes about 20 minutes for your brain to receive the signal that you are no longer hungry. If you eat too quickly, you may end up overeating because your brain hasn’t had the chance to process the information that you are already full.
Eating more slowly can also help you reduce stress and enjoy your food more. When you rush through meals, it can lead to indigestion and discomfort. Taking the time to eat slowly can help you relax and savor the experience of enjoying a good meal.
There are a few simple ways that you can slow down your eating. One is to put your fork down between each bite. This will help you to savor each bite and prevent you from shoveling food into your mouth too quickly. Another way to eat more slowly is to chew your food more thoroughly. This will also help with digestion and prevent you from swallowing air, which can lead to bloating.
You can also try to make mealtimes a more relaxing experience. Eating in a calm, relaxed atmosphere can help you to slow down and enjoy your food more. Turn off the television and put away your phone so that you can focus on your meal. Take the time to savor the flavor and texture of your food and savor the experience of eating.

5. Drink plenty of water
It is essential to drink plenty of water when trying to lose weight. Here are some tips to make sure you are getting enough water every day:
-Start your day by drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning.
-Carry a water bottle with you throughout the day and drink regularly, even if you’re not thirsty.
- Drink water with each meal and snack.
- Drink water instead of sugary drinks like soda and juice.
- Drink water before, during, and after exercise.
Drinking plenty of water is important for many reasons. It can help you to feel full so you eat less, it flushes out toxins, and it gives you energy. Make sure you are drinking enough water every day to help you reach your weight loss goals.

6. Get enough sleep
There are countless fad diets and quick-fix solutions out there promising to help you lose weight fast. But if you're really serious about shedding those extra pounds, you need to focus on sustainable, long-term changes. And one of the most important factors in achieving lasting weight loss is getting enough sleep.
Sleep plays a vital role in regulating metabolism and hunger hormones, and when you're sleep-deprived, your body is more likely to make unhealthy food choices and store more fat. Furthermore, not getting enough zzz's can sabotage your weight loss efforts by making you too tired to exercise.
So if you want to see real results, aim for seven to eight hours of sleep every night. To help make sure you stick to your sleep schedule, create a bedtime routine and wind down for 30 minutes before hitting the hay. And turn off electronics at least 30 minutes before going to sleep, as the blue light they emit can interfere with sleep.
7. Exercise regularly
Most people know that exercise is important for weight loss, but few know just how important it really is. Exercise not only burns calories but also helps to boost your metabolism so that you continue to burn calories even after you’ve left the gym. Additionally, regular exercise can help to reduce your appetite so that you eat less throughout the day.
The best way to lose weight through exercise is to find an activity that you enjoy and make it a part of your daily routine. For some people, this means joining a gym and working out with a personal trainer; for others, it may simply mean taking a brisk walk around the neighborhood each day. Regardless of what you choose, the key is to be consistent with your exercise routine.
If you’re not sure where to start, there are plenty of resources available to help you. Your doctor can give you advice on which exercises are best for you, and there are also many books and websites that offer tips and workouts. The most important thing is to get started and make exercise a part of your daily routine.
If you want to lose weight, there are some things you can do to help. First, cut back on sugar and refined carbs. These can make you gain weight and make it harder to lose. Second, eat more protein and fiber. These help you feel fuller longer and can help you lose weight. Third, exercise regularly. This will help you burn more calories and lose weight. Fourth, eat fewer calories. You can do this by eating healthier foods and smaller portions. Fifth, drink water. This will help you feel full and help your body burn more calories. Sixth, avoid processed foods. These are often high in calories and unhealthy fats. Seventh, make sure you get enough sleep. This can help you lose weight by reducing stress levels and boosting your metabolism.

1. B6 & B12 boosts metabolism (you can take B6 without food, but B12 absorbs better with food) - These vitamins give you more energy and improve nerve health :D
2. Coffee/Energy Drinks/Caffeine Pills (duh) - Anything with caffeine will keep you alert, focused, and lose those pounds! Be aware of those high sugar/cal monsters or those fatty coffee drinks.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar - I find it helps with burning food/ making me less hungry. You can get these in pill form or dilute it
4. Warm lemon water/Teas - Very low cals, better water intake, debloats you. Again be careful of the sugar contents
5. Exercise like pilates, running/walking, weights, yoga, etc. - Easy way to gain muscle/lose fat- Basically resistance training
7. Fasting - Boosts your metabolism and overall health
8. Proteins!! Protein + gaining muscle will increase metabolism. As you st⭐️rve, still keep eating those proteins!!
9. Sleep!! Getting less than 6 hours of sleep will decrease your metabolism
Let me know if I should add anything :)

hungry?
nope. and i refuse to eat if i'm not hungry (except for after dinner)
it's not discipline, it's a mental block
alright, maybe i can just skip lunch and wait until dinner
but that's bad because my brain stops working without nutrition
What about those meal replacement shakes i bought just for this occasion?
nope, can't do it. because then i won't be hungry for dinner. can't make dinner later because i have class tonight
eat after class?
nope, can't do it, i need energy for the class
then eat a late filling lunch
i'm not hungry, so i can't eat
guess i'll have to skip class tonight since i won't meet the mental requirements
and that's how my logic works sometimes.
#i went for a walk to restore the 'rhythm'#which helped a bit#i fought with myself the whole way about buying some hot food#because that's a treat and i know i would eat it#and i kept up the mental gymnastics of my pretzel logic before finally giving up and going back home#so here i am drinking Ensure and eating chips and 6 layer dip#i hate olives in 7 layer dip so i always pick them out#and i can already tell i'm feeling more stable#and my day is reorganized but not a flop#my sour mood the whole walk should have been a clue that i needed to eat#but no#can't do it#mental block will not budge#and hunger isn't a priority to me#just not important#don't know why#i'll blame the pressure to eat right and lose weight from my earlier years tho#honestly i'd skip meals all the time if doing that didn't give me wicked headaches#just another day in Arkon's brain

WHAT GOOD IS SORRY?
ex husband!leon x f!reader
word count: 3.3k summary: why does one wound those they love so deeply? masterlist | taglist | ko-fi
18+ MDNI. mentions of divorce, cheating/infidelity, awkward leon stuff, guilt, yearning, leon and reader have a child together — and i named her denise for whatever reason, getting stood up by a date, drunk texting, kissing, oral(r!receiving), fingering, unprotected sex, bittersweet ending(?) i guess.
a/n: old wip,, this was supposed to be super gut wrenching and angsty but for some reason, my brain didn’t want to cooperate and decided that this would be the ending. also, i’ve been contemplating whether to address this or not and even tho its not a big issue, PLEASE interact with my posts. it’s the only way i’m able to know that you guys actually like the stuff i write, and ever since i’ve started writing on here 7 months ago, i’ve been noticing a decrease in interactions. im honestly losing motivation to write because i truly don’t know if people actually read my shit and like it. anyway, enjoy my mediocre writing ^___^
leon regrets everything he’s done up to this point. running into ada on a mission, going to the bar with her afterwards, and the kiss. the stupid kiss that eventually led up to this.
the divorce.
it all felt wrong, so wrong. yet here he was, driving his car to your doorstep, his stomach in knots despite having done this several times before.
for the sake of your daughter, the two of you had decided that shared custody would be the best option.
he stands at the door, hesitating before knocking, his knuckles hovering anxiously. clearing his throat, he gently raps his knuckles against the door, hoping for an answer. he's already second-guessing himself, wondering if he should have texted or called first.
your door eventually opens, and he's met with a familiar face. you.
you greet him with a civil smile, pressing a kiss into your daughter’s hair before ushering her inside.
he fidgets, adjusting the brim of his leather jacket nervously as he takes in the sight of you.
you reach to shut the door, catching a glimpse of him awkwardly hovering over you porch.
“you okay?”
he tries to find his voice. "yeah, i just, uh... i was just thinking..”
he looks down at his feet, kicking the ground with the side of his scuffed boot, as if trying to buy some time or maybe just willing the floor to swallow him up. when he speaks, his voice is low and sheepish. “when i was— last night, i thought… uh, do- do you remember when.. shit. are you free this weekend?”
”what?” you muse at his question. “leon, i really don’t wanna have this conversation with you again,”
he winces at the rebuff, shoving his hands in his jacket pockets as a defensive measure.
leon’s adam’s apple bobs up and down as he swallows hard, his ears burning at your words. he looks anywhere but at you, his eyes darting over the porch railing, the foliage, the sky — anywhere but your eyes. oh, those eyes he adored so much.
"no, wait, hear me out,”
"listen..." he takes a deep breath, steeling himself for whatever fallout this might bring, knowing he's already on shaky ground. “i just wanna talk.. to you.”
he shifts his weight, glancing up at the roof of the house as if the heavens themselves could offer a solution. when he does meet your gaze again, his eyes are pleading, his jaw clenched with a mix of anxiety and something akin to desperation.
“i’m sorry, leon. i’m busy,”
he scoffs and his face scrunches up, a pained grimace contorting his features as he cuts you off. “c’mon, please?” he's standing too close now, invading the personal space he once knew so well. “i.. i know it isn’t what we do anymore but—“
“no, seriously. i literally can’t. i have something up.”
“oh.” he deflates slightly at your dismissal, shoulders slumping in defeat. a soft, regretful sigh escapes his parted lips, and his eyes drop, gaze wandering aimlessly. "can- can you can you cancel? is it really important? what about on sunday-? i’m sure we can..“
“leon.” it's not a question this time, you stare at him with the tiniest hint of pity. “i have a date.”
ouch. he freezes, his chest constricting as if he's been punched. a date? the words echo in his mind, each syllable like a dagger to his pride, his ego, his everything. a muscle in his jaw twitches, his hands clenching and unclenching in his pockets. leon swallows hard, his throat suddenly parched.
"oh," he repeats, the sound barely above a whisper. he takes a shaky breath, trying to calm the storm brewing inside him.
he rubs a hand over the back of his neck, jaw working in agitation as he grapples with the blow of your words. a snarky retort rises in his throat, a cutting remark to deflect the sting, but it withers on his tongue, a futile attempt at salvaging pride he knows is misplaced.
leon swallows hard, his mouth opening and closing a few times before he finally finds his voice, laced with a wry bitterness. “yeah, no worries.. guess that's that," a bitter, hollow chuckle escapes him as he shifts his weight. his tone is flippant, trying to mask the sting of rejection, but the defeat is palpable as he turns to leave. he starts down the porch steps, his boots thudding against the wooden slats.
you finally close the door on him, standing by the door, hand on the knob, unease prickling along you skin like a thousand tiny needles, each one stinging with the weight of guilt. you sigh, rubbing the bridge of her nose as she tries to process her feelings. guilt, regret, a twinge longing — it's all so confusing, so messy.
the weight of his pleading eyes, the desperation in his tone — he had no right acting like a dejected puppy after he cheated on you.
you shake your head, face between your hands. he made his choices, just as you had, and now it was time to move on. you squared your shoulders, took a deep breath, and stepped away from the door, determined to let go of the ghost of what was and focus on the life you were building. for you, and your daughter.
but it’s not really easy.
not when you’re sitting alone at a restaurant, waiting for a date that never bothered to show.
your phone buzzes and you hold your breath. hoping for some sort of confirmation, but it's quickly snuffed out.
‘hey, sorry i couldn’t make it. something important came up’ the simple text reads. the same stupid excuse. every. single. time. your heart sinks, a dull ache forming in the pit of your stomach.
a bitter, derisive chuckle escapes your lips. serves you right. you knew he was trouble from the start. yet, your heart aches, a dull throb of pain and disappointment. you feel so foolish, sitting there, waiting for someone who never shows. though, it isn't really new.
now you lay in your bed, having already kicked off your heels and changed out of the uncomfortably tight dress you wore.
you pull the blankets up to your chin, suddenly feeling cold. you toss and turn, brooding and wallowing in misery, and it seemed like you’ve been doing it for hours till you’re startled out of your fitful doze by the buzz of your phone.
it's a text from leon, of course it is. it’s another one of his ‘where are u? i miss u’ ‘can’t stop thinking about you. please let me c u’ meltdowns.
he's drunk again, you can tell by the sloppy caps and the desperate pleas. every time he has a rough night, he always thinks coming over will magically fix everything. and you always refuse, knowing he’s only drunk and alone. but tonight, you feel particularly lonely.
your thumb hovers over the keyboard, and before you know it, you're typing. ‘come over.’ you hesitate, then send the message.
by then, he’s already halfway out the door, stumbling out and nearly falling as he trips over his own feet in his haste. he takes the stairs two at a time, a goofy, shit-eating grin plastered on his face. when he reaches your door, he pounds on it with a fist. his breath comes out in short puffs as he waits, anticipation making his heart race.
click.
the door creaks open a fraction and his eyes lock onto you, looking all soft and domestic in a robe. leon's breath catches in his throat as his eyes drink you in.
he tumbles in, arms outstretched as if he's about to catch something. he's immediately in your space, arms around you in a tight, needy embrace. his face buries itself in the crook of your neck, breathless with relief and something else, something suspiciously like love.
“leon—“ he smashes his mouth against yours, tongue pushing past your lips, the taste of beer and regret in his breath. his hands roam, sliding up your back, gripping your hair, fingers splayed wide as if to assure himself you're real. a low, desperate sound escapes him, half-groan, half-moan as his body presses against yours. he's desperate, sloppy, but undeniably passionate. when he finally breaks for air, he rests his forehead against yours, eyes glassy with drink and longing.
“missed you s’ much, baby,” he presses a kiss to your neck, tongue tracing the pulse point with a reverence that borders worship.
“let me make it up to you, please,” he looks up at you with those big, puppy-dog eyes, an expression so pathetic it’s comical. yet, the desperation behind them makes it anything but.
his hands skim down your sides to your hips, fingers digging in as if to keep you anchored to him. his face buried in the crook of your neck as his hands knead the meat of your ass, claws digging in through the fabric of your robe. his breath hitches as he nuzzles into you, inhaling deeply as if committing you to memory.
he trails a string of open-mouthed kisses down your neck, pausing to nibble on your collarbone before continuing his journey south. his hands never stop moving, roaming over your body with an insatiable hunger.
you let out a soft whimper, arching into his touch. "bedroom," you breathe out, and he happily obliges.
once inside, he kicks the door shut behind him and spins you around, backing you up against the bed. he begins to undo your robe with shaking fingers, your heavy breathing and the rustling of silk the only sounds in the charged silence between you. when the robe falls open, he pushes it off your shoulders, letting it pool at your feet.
the thin, sheer fabric of your nightgown offers little resistance as he practically rips it off you. a shaky breath escapes his parted lips as he reaches for you again, fingers grazing your skin as if he's not quite trusting his own touch.
he guides you to the bed, pushing you to sit on the edge. he immediately drops to his knees before you, face between your legs.
“these ‘re pretty,” he slurs out, before he fucking tears your underwear off.
“leon!”
he chuckles at your reaction, a low, rumbling sound in the back of his throat. “sorry,” he murmurs against your inner thigh, his hot breath causing goosebumps to rise in its wake. “gonna buy you new ones,”
his stubble scrapes against your sensitive skin as he slowly trails open-mouthed kisses up your thigh, savoring every inch of you that you’re willing to give him.
he buries his face between your legs, licking and sucking with a single-minded devotion that makes your toes curl and eyes roll back in your head. his scruffy cheeks hollow as he sucks a hickey into the soft flesh of your inner thigh.
god, it’s been so long. the feelings practically foreign.
his tongue begins to lash at your slit, long and flat, with a dexterity that belies his level of inebriation.
“you still mine?” he huffs. “‘course you are, ‘m the only one that can get ya this wet,”
slurp, smack, suck, repeat.
his tongue is relentless, probing your entrance, swirling around your clit with increasing fervor. he's sloppy, uncoordinated, but it only serves to heighten the intensity of it all. every time he pulls back, you can hear his heavy breathing, feel the vibrations of his moans against your most intimate flesh. your fingers thread into his hair, tugging him closer as your back arches off the bed. a keening whimper escapes you, the sound muffled by your clenched teeth as you struggle to maintain some semblance of control.
“fuck, leon—” your words trail off into incoherent mumbles as he drives you closer to the edge, tongue darting in and out with a pace that’ll make a grown woman go crazy. “d-denise, were gonna wake her up,”
a low growl rumbles in his chest as he responds to your whine. there's a hint of accusation in his gaze, but it quickly morphs into a look of raw, desperate need. “don’t matter,” he's relentless, persistent, refusing to back down even as you tremble and writhe beneath him.
he grunts, his attention snapping back to you, blue eyes squinting as he looks up from between your thighs. his tongue is a damn metronome, lapping and smacking with a relentless rhythm that has you chasing the edge of oblivion.
it's like every drunken fantasy he's ever had is being poured out onto you. messy, uncoordinated, desperate. and you’re eating it up. “gonna make you forget all about that stupid date," he mutters through slurred words. "’m the only man who can make you feel this good,"
he's not wrong. the way he's attacking you with his tongue, it's like he's trying to prove a fucking point.
"leon, please," you gasp out, and he takes it as an invitation to continue. your entire body is wound up tight, a taut string ready to snap. he slips a finger in, then two, curling them just right so that they’re pressing against that spongy spot that has you seeing stars.
your legs wrap around his head, fingers threading into his hair as you pull him in as close as humanly possible. his name is a chant on your lips, a prayer to the gods of pleasure. "leon, leon, leon,". denise could come in right now and catch you like this — legs splayed, back arched, eyes squeezed shut in bliss. he's that good. or maybe that bad. you dont know. and you don’t care to find out.
"yeah, just like that," he praises, voice a low, gravelly growl. "love my fingers in this greedy little cunt, don't you?"
your thighs clench around his head, heels digging into his back as you ride out the pleasure. "gonna cum, leon, please—“ yours words trail off into a wail, a keen of pure, unadulterated euphoria.
your back arches, toes curl, and your fingers dig into his hair, holding him to you as the wave crashes over you. he tugs you down to the edge of the bed, practically burying his face in your groin. he laps at your slit, in and out, in and out, until the last bit of resistance melts away.
he lifts his face from between your legs, eyes hazy and unfocused as he fumbles to unbuckle his pants. once he has it off, he's back, pushing your legs apart as he kneels between them. the thick of his length throbs against your lower belly, and you can feel his racing heartbeat through every inch of him that's in contact with you.
he notches the head of his cock at your entrance, pressing in just enough to make you feel the pressure, gathering your juices before giving a long, slow stroke up and down, coating himself in you. he's throbbing, pulsing with need, and you can practically taste the desperation in your mouth.
he presses in, just the tip at first, then a bit more. slow, shallow strokes, in and out. his hips rock against yours, the motion slow and languid. one of his hands cups your cheek, thumb brushing over your closed eyelids to check if he was dreaming. the other hand palms the small of your back, fingers digging in as if to anchor himself. your legs wrap around his waist, ankles locking behind his back as he slowly sinks into you.
he's quiet for a moment, just holding you, his heart racing in his chest as if he's trying to communicate something without using words. his hips move, the action slow and lazy, as if he's trying to spoon you into submission.
he pulls out, just to the tip, before pushing back in. the motion is slow, sensual, a deliberate teasing that has you whining and writhing beneath him.
sweat beads on his brow, tracing down the lines of his face, but he doesn't slow. if anything, he's driven by a desperate need to make up for lost time, to prove himself worthy of you. your back arches, hands scrabbling for purchase on the sheets as he pistons in and out, the force of his thrusts rocking your entire body. he's not gentle, not soft, but rough and demanding, just like he always used to be when he was trying to stake his claim.
he nips at your earlobe, his teeth grazing the sensitive flesh before he sooths it with his tongue. “fuck, feels so good,” he gasps out, his words punctuated by the slap of skin against skin. “can't believe i ever let you go.”
"leon," you whimper, the name a plea, a prayer. his lips find yours in a sloppy, frantic kiss. he's drinking you in, devouring your mouth, your moans, your gasps, trying to consume every ounce of you.
he's sweating, hair a mess, face scrunched up in concentration, but those blue eyes remain locked on yours.
you're lost in the sensation, every nerve ending on high alert, screaming for friction, for relief, for release. "leon, leon, gonna cum," you pant, your voice raw, your throat dry. "please, i—" but your pleas are swallowed by his next thrust, his cock dragging against your sensitive walls.
he leans forward, his forehead pressing against yours, noses nearly touching. his hot breath mingles with yours, the scent of his beer-soaked breath and the musk of his arousal mingling together in the most intoxicating way. "love you," he suddenly whispers, the words a quiet, a desperate confession that hangs in the air between you.
“love you, love you, fuck—“
the way your walls squeeze him when you cum drags his own orgasm from him. for a long moment, he stays frozen, buried to the hilt, his chest heaving against yours as he tries to catch his breath.
the heat of your body seeps into his skin, chasing away the chill of the night air. he collapses against you, a boneless heap of satisfied male. his cock throbs, pulses, and drips onto the bed between your legs as he tries to catch his breath. the room is silent, save for your joint heavy breathing, and the occasional groan as his softening length slips out of you. eventually, he rolls off, lying on his back beside you, one big hand coming to rest on your stomach, thumb stroking in a slow, idle pattern. his eyes are hazy, unfocused, but they find yours and hold. a small, sheepish smile tugs at his lips.
"sorry," he slurs out, the word garbled and slightly off-kilter. "i shoulda been better, should’ve tried harder, i... i‘m gonna make things right, i swear,"
he peppers your neck with soft kisses, his stubble rasping against your tender flesh. he's warm, solid, and comforting. gentle and tender, a stark contrast to the desperation that drove him mere moments ago.
he's not reaching for grand gestures or flowery declarations. he's asking for something simple, intimate, and achingly human. a chance to hold you, to sleep beside you, to maybe, begin to rebuild something from the rubble of what once was.
and for a moment, you let yourself believe that he’ll be different this time. that he's not just trying to relive past glories, but genuinely wants to make amends, to start anew.
