Lua (attempted in the past)

Project 5: Branding

So there is a conjoining theme across all other 4 projects: the idea of escaping reality by either distracting oneself from it or by simply denying its existence and replacing it with delusion. Consumerism is also a big topic that I feel I need to keep hacking at, so I decided to create a brand that wraps together this exercise. It takes the first two letters of Denial, Distraction, Delusion to become this:

It’s a play on the counterfeit Adidas logos, which are an expression of the desire-to-be that’s present in people with and without the purchasing power to get the original:

I chose Adidas because it conveniently fit the name I chose, but of course, since Adidas is not so ‘hip’ as other brands might be, and since consumerism is all about buying and exhibiting whatever others are in order to feel an empty sense of herd acceptance, I created a bonus logo:

This was fun. And, I’ll admit it, hella easy.

Conceptualization:

I am afraid of cockroaches. There are two ways to conquer a person's fear in behaviorism in psychology. One is systematic desensitization which is also known as graduated exposure therapy; the other is flooding. On the contrary to systematic desensitization, flooding would present people’s fear to the most extreme condition at the beginning. When I was in that class, the professor took cockroaches as an example to explain these two different theories. I was wondering if it worked and also what if the character became the things a person likes, would the person become afraid of it?

Development:

I was trying to make a motion graphic filled with cockroaches and the cartoon characters I like to do an experiment. But I couldn’t. I could stand so many cockroaches on the screen, so I’d like to it with Processing. At least, I could focus more on codes instead of the image and the motion movements of cockroaches.

I made a new recipe tonight that @chefsymon made on the @todayshow when his second 5 in 5 book came out. Instead of making the four servings, I made it for two servings, and asked my mom to help me figure out the right amounts of everything.
