TPOT 13 thoughts (spoilers of course)
This was a very well-done one!
It starts with Firey and Leafy. I mean I love Leafy to pieces and I CAN get into Fireafy but it's feeling overexposed lately with BFDIA 13 and now in a season they aren't even in. I want to see more of Leafy without Firey. Speaking of which One takes her and leaves us hanging. It seems like when there are Fireafy interactions it is Leafy that falls behind. In fact I'd say Leafy is better off with One than Firey! I do like the 5b music (Evil Leafy?)
What's up with the Robot Flower figure? Hey they're using a Stapy for posters :) This windstorm is worse than BFDI 5. I like the Two-shaped key. I forgot how much I disliked Four's voice. Stapy saying aww seriously was darling. X is nice. I voted for Liy so it's nice to see her join but I would prefer a BraceLiy debut to PENCIL who is in BFDIA!
Two is so unserious for having them pick teams based on names instead of membership. Ouch for Pencil! Liy was right to choose BAGGED over people she doesn't like! Golf Ball's concern for fairness always gets me. Two crying over feeling rejected... poor them.
TV using BFDI 15 Announcer saying Hello as his greeting made me wistful. Pencil being dependent and Pillow ripping Donut? So messy. TB saying "missing three" made me think Three would walk in. Pillow being safe is good because I VTS'd her. Liy got the Two-shaped key!!! Ouch for Barf Bag :( I hope she gets more BFDIA face time.
Basketball being safe is good because I VTS'd her. I would rather Donut be barfed on to be remembered. I love how TV celebrates being safe; he is moving way up in the rankings with these clips. ROBOTY??? Two in Bottle is adorable, and I prefer Bottle being safe to Needle because Needle is in BFDIA. But I liked Peneedle!
NOT THE FISH MONSTER!!! And Four and X just fluffing off to some beach (with 9shades) sent me. Oh there's the Seinfeld bassline as heard in 5c. I want to see how One plays with Needle and Barf Bag! I like the different angles of Liy being seen. THE GOIKY DRAGONS??? AND DIFFERENT TYPES OF FISH MONSTER?
The challenge is to stop One's creatures. Why is TWO on the THIRD floor? Two snoring in 2's instead of Z's is so cute. And a sleeping pillow aww. Pencil is so unhinged here and she wants to start a cross-team alliance! GB and Donut being destabilized without Barfy is interesting.
I love that TB speaks for TV's powerpoint slides. Pen and bottle eating popcorn aww. AND THE DAVID WILL BE DEAD! I kind of like Snowball using Icy to freeze the monsters out. And Booktaggy fighting them looks really cool. I think RF has a point killing those bugs, and her messing with her teammates is darling.
Eraser turning the fish monsters against each other reminds me of something but I can't remember it. YF going Scribblenauts for CloudYAY and I love it. LIY WITH THE TWO KEY!!! I thought that shot of the inanimate bottle would lead to something like II2 but no, Bottle just did something only a Bottle can do!! Yay for object specific tasks!
We get to see some recommenbies. GB calls Donut a first boot and I kind of like the theme of him never living it down. It was a SETUP! The other two were CoinPin! INCOME TAX RETURN DOCUMENT MENTIONED!!! I love TV getting wheels to distract David.
Finally the two robots interact! Liy using her previous pact membership to curry favor is so iconic. Pixel TB <3 PILLOW WITH THE FLAMETHROWER!!! Even dragons can do the dodging pattern lol. I chose to interpret the "private moment" line as Book thinking Gaty and RF were kissing.
RF stabbing Gaty with Pin was awesome! And the view from her cracked screen was one of those moments. She uses her petals as fan blades! The bacon and egg face was adorable and so is marker eating foam. RF DREW HERSELF A HAPPY FACE??? AND SHE MOVES INSTANTANEOUSLY LIKE EL??? She just killed battery D: Fanny taking down RF...
ONE IS SO UNHINGED XD and Book with the little gamecube was great. TAGGY PEW PEW! Basketball signs with a footprint lol. Basketbot... aww... Due to my strong beliefs about bodily autonomy I think Basketball changing RF would have been okay if she just used the BFB Flower.
I like how GB now seems to want TB to save her. eepy david :3 Pencil is so spiteful so now Taggy and Book are at risk of leaving despite their awesomeness. I liked the shot of the dragon on the David though. Fanny grinding up bugs in her fan and Basketball being bounced around are more fun object reminders. And the recovery centers talking using their screens are always cute!
NOT THE CLUMSY TENNIS BALL!!! BH still rules for stopping the storm instead of winning. And I kind of hate that we didn't get a Leafy appearance with One so we'll have to live with this torment fo a while.

I personally feel offended for that other anon who said that Eddie is not "good enough for Buck" mind you, it's Kristen and co choice to not involve him on Buck's major arcs. We know Eddie should be there, but he's not allowed, there's a difference.
When you think about Eddie's major arc's Buck is there, right? The thing is that sometimes it's actually about him and not about Eddie. When he was shot, at the end, it was all about Buck and his new relationship. So yeah, that was one of my biggest complains with the coma arc because they decided to use everyone except for Eddie, his best friend, they focused more on the Buckley parents who were literally gone by the next episode 💀.
Eddie has been more subtle with showing his devotion towards Buck, but he's the one who truly sees him and understands him. No one else. Buck's arc in s4 was huge, and the one who had the final say was Eddie with the whole "because Evan" speech. He told him what he NEEDED to hear, not what he wanted and I think that's beautiful.
Eddie loves quietly, he's not as open and expressive as Buck, but he gets him and is his safe place.
Part of me is still hopeful that they're going to save this mess, but I'm pissed because even from a best friend standpoint what happened yesterday was awful. I really connect with Eddie because I've been there you know, I understand what he's going through and having your best friend rambling about his new shiny girlfriend that truly "sees him" after you just basically told him that you feel like you are going to die alone... auch.
I don't think they're actually going canon, but I sure hope that they at least get to save the friendship, and have Buck to give some comfort to Eddie, because baby girl needs it so much 😔
Yeah I mean. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed in Eddie's presence in the coma episodes. But watching the rest of 6b so far, it's hard to be upset at it when Eddie has been THE character working through it with Buck in literally every episode since. I knew the coma storyline would be very Bobby-centric (what with the Buckley parents being there and it being The Season Of Dads), but in retrospect I'm realizing that all the other characters needed their moment loving Buck, and that keeping Eddie out of it was more so that he could shine in the aftermath.
I wasn't going to get into it with the other anon, because it seemed pretty clear to me that they sympathize massively with Buck and do not care to delve into the reasoning behind why Eddie is the way he is, textually, but yeah, you've hit the nail on the head. I think the text very clearly explains the way Eddie shows he cares, the ways he's adapted it so Buck can hear what he needs to hear, and why Eddie might have trouble with that. Calling that fanon says more about that person's biases than anything else I think. Perhaps they're a little bit lawsuit-era-Buck-coded (sorry.)
Re: last night's episode, I understand the empathy for Eddie having to sit there and hear that. But at the same time, Buck is kind of notorious for missing the good things in his life and accidentally being a dick because of it, and I don't think they'd have given us that scene in all it's glory if it weren't setting up the fact that Buck's going to clue into reality sooner rather than later.
I don't think they'd be investing in buddie screentime if this wasn't a conflict that was gonna get resolved. I think back to 5b, Eddie telling Buck to "move on." That's a fucking hurtful thing to say to Evan Buckley, king of abandonment issues. But it was written for reason; we just have the power of hindsight for 5b to understand the bigger picture. They have a good track record of not letting inter-character conflict fizzle out into nothing, so I'm positive they have something good planned to resolve it.
Basically I wouldn't worry about the friendship, like, at all. A little hypocritical of me to say, since I spent all of 6a and the winter hiatus worried about the friendship, but 6b has massively assuaged those fears. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
drop your thoughts/theories/speculation on why you don't think buddie will go canon in my ask box because I'm curious (I'll be nice I promise)

Self-Promo Sunday: “A Bit of Absolution”
By: snowbellewells (or TutorGirlml on ff.net)
An angsty (and a bit fluffy) missing moment from the Underworld arc: Emma goes to find out something that she's always needed to know, and Killian follows to support her, as he always will.
Tumblr media
Can also be found on AO3 or ff.net
{This one shot was originally written for the first CS Storybrook coolection. It's canon divergent from 5x13 or 5x14 and shows a missing moment that I feel should have happened while they were in the Underworld and once they learned about the position of headstones and their meaning. Still CS all the way, but remembering a beloved past character as well…}
Emma Swan charged doggedly through the graveyard on a mission, almost beside herself in her urgency. Unfazed by the reddish sky hovering low around her and the uneven ground, she plowed ahead undaunted, without pause, possible turned ankles or face plants not a concern that registered in her current haze.
'How did I not think of it sooner?' was the persistent question echoing through her head, bouncing around her consciousness like a pinball game within her skull. Somewhere between returning to the ghastly mockery of the house meant to be she and Killian's in the world above, the loss of Milah and the stunned, robbed look on Killian's face at almost getting to see his first love again, and then hearing Snow's tale of Regina finding Daniel's grave and the good it had done her – one idea had flashed to the forefront of Emma's mind and refused to let go. Of someone else who had been lost too soon and whose fate she had never known…
Out of breath when she reached the far end of the graveyard, Emma turned, anxiously squinting through the ruddy haze and unsure of where to go or exactly what she was looking for. How to begin? Panting heavily, she scanned the space before her, rows of sad, decrepit-looking markers – either cold and forgotten, cracked down the middle, or fallen over on the ground. Finally, she pressed a steadying hand on her stomach, blew out a breath, and simply followed her instincts. The dark trees of a scraggly forest on the border seemed to beckon her, and she picked her way more calmly in that direction.
Then, nearly tripping at an uneven dip in the ground, Emma reached the final row of headstones and a whoosh of air left her lips as she caught herself barely with a hand on the nearest stone, only to glimpse the lettering on another that was lying flat before her. ‘The Huntsman’ it read in rough block letters that she reached out to trace with stunned fingers.
"Graham," escaped her lips in a quiet breath of relief, even as she wondered if she had hoped it would still be standing so that she could speak to him one last time, apologize for not believing him sooner, tell him how much his support and backing had meant to her, and ask if he was alright. She wanted to know for certain that he had found peace at last - and if not, to make sure that they helped him do so. But if he already had, how could she be sorry about that? After all, he had suffered for so long, could she really wish he'd had to languish in the Underworld merely for her to be able to better say goodbye?
Righting herself and attempting to pull her tangled thoughts back together, Emma's surroundings came back into focus when she heard running footsteps pounding up behind her. "Swan!" that lovely, masculine voice whose lilt she cherished beyond all others was calling her name as she sat back on her haunches from where she had stumbled to her knees and brushed dirt off her palms. "Emma, are you hurt? Are you alright, Love?"
Killian was at her side before she could form an answer, sliding into a crouch on the ground at her side, pulling her into his arms and worriedly checking her over for injury. Emma nodded 'yes', shakily trying to assure him that she wasn't hurt, but it didn't seem to break through his concern until she gripped his hand and his hook in hers and leaned her forehead against his to hold his gaze. "Killian, stop. Take a breath, Babe. I'm not hurt, I promise," she soothed, finally easing his fear.
"When I saw you fall…" he breathed out, his usually warm, sturdy voice trembling. "I was afraid something had attacked you or sucked you in…that you would disappear…" For a moment his words died away as he smoothed his hook over the soft strands of her hair, then he swallowed and found his composure to continue. "I realize you probably wanted to be alone, but I was following at a distance. I simply had to make sure you did not encounter trouble."
She blinked, unable to believe this man – rogue, scoundrel, whatever people might at first believe – but beneath it, so caring, so genuine, and always wanting what was best for her, to take care of her, in any way he could. How had she gotten so lucky? Shaking her head, Emma laced her fingers with Killian's and brought their joined hands up to kiss his knuckles. "It's alright. Now that you are here, I'm glad. I just – I hated to ask you to do this with me when…when we can't do the same for you."
He tilted his head in confusion, eyebrow arched ridiculously in that way she couldn't resist. "Whatever do you mean by that, Swan?"
"Well, this grave," she gestured to the whole, uncracked stone lying flat on the ground before them. "It belongs to someone I knew in Storybrooke…someone I cared about who died much too soon…and… well, when I heard Regina talking about finding her Daniel's grave…" she shrugged helplessly, still not quite sure how to put into words what she had wanted, but met his eyes evenly and simply hoped Killian would understand, as he so often did.
Her pirate didn't disappoint, lightly tilting her chin with the curve of his hook and smiling in reassurance. "You realized you could at last put your doubts to rest and find out if this person," he squinted curiously at the stone and then tried the title out, "this Huntsman, has gone on to his reward or if he was still here and in need of our aid."
"Exactly," Emma nodded succinctly; moved to stand once more and took Killian's offered hand to help herself once he had done the same.
"Well," he offered, gesturing to the resting position of the marker, "if her Majesty informed us correctly, he is lucky enough not to be languishing in this infernal realm."
Emma agreed with him, but tried surreptitiously to remove her gaze from Killian's focusing on the block letters of Graham's true identity and hoped it wasn't obvious that she was blinking back tears. 'Didn't he ever have a true name until he was cursed?' her mind cried, right along with, 'Why would he be here?' in a self-chiding of frustration. 'He was honest and good. He thanked you when he died because he knew who he was again. He had his answers and his peace – no unfinished business for Hades to get his claws into. And that's a good thing. What else did you think you could say to him anyway?'
Of course, if she had thought Killian "Quite Perceptive" Jones would miss her turmoil and disappointment, she was sorely mistaken. His hooked arm rubbed gently up and down hers, as if trying to ward off the constant chill that surrounded them in a world Emma would have expected to be burning with fiery heat and brimstone. "You had hoped to see this person, aye?" he asked, already knowing the answer thought he phrased his words in a gentle question. "Wished to speak with him one more time?"
"I know, silly, right?" she shrugged sheepishly, blinking back the few tears that had nearly fallen and effectively holding them off. "I should be thrilled he didn't have to spend any time here…or at least that he isn't stuck here now."
Killian shook his head. "That is not silly at all, Emma. If I could have had a moment more to speak to Milah – either here, or as she was dying in my arms all those years ago – to assure her once more that I loved her too, that a part of me will always hold her dear, I would want that dreadfully as well."
He traced his fingertips lightly along her chin, speaking to himself as much as her, but when Emma's eyes flew up to meet his, he stopped, wondering what he had said to cause the look of pained recognition in her gaze. "Wait…Killian…" Emma faltered, gripping his fingers tightly and pulling them from where they rested on her cheeks to press them to her chest. "Milah…she-she died in your arms?"
"Aye," Killian dipped his head, but not before Emma got a telling glimpse at the way the blue darkened stormily with hurt and anger, even after all this time. "The Dark One freed me from my bonds once he had crushed her heart. She was lying on the deck, taking her last breaths to tell me she loved me. There was not even time for me to reply before she was gone. All loving me ever earned her was separation from her boy and an early death."
He started to pull away, and Emma was stricken to the core by the self-loathing in his face, so much so that she lurched forward in panic to grasp his hand and pull him back to her. "Killian, no! You know that isn't true!" she argued fiercely. "Maybe we haven't been over every detail of the life you and Milah shared – and I don't need to know it all. But you saved her from a life trapped and wasted. You gave her love and adventure, and I may have just met her for a moment, but the way she reacted when she learned it was you we were here for, I would say she counted her time with you well worth the cost. Trust me," she added, bringing the back of his hand, joined with hers, to her lips and pressing a kiss there, "having the blessing of your love myself tells me just how grateful she must have been."
Killian didn't speak aloud in answer, but Emma watched closely as he swallowed hard and pulled her more fully into his arms. Neither of them said anything for several minutes, merely drawing solace from each other.
Then Emma leaned back slightly, trailing thoughtful fingers across the letters one more time. "I may not understand completely. It's different, of course, but I have thought before that Graham could still be alive if it weren't for me."
"How is that, Lass?" Killian questioned, drawing back just enough to look into her face more fully and brushing loose strands of her hair off her forehead.
"Well," she wet her lips, hating to even think of that last night, the fight with Regina and Graham's collapse to the station floor, but knowing she owed Killian no less than the whole truth after the scene he had just relived. "He hired me as his deputy, and we became friends, so he came to me when he felt something was wrong. He felt as though he was remembering things from another life. He kept saying he didn't think he had a heart, and that he had to change things…that he needed to feel something. I encouraged him to stand up for himself, but…I never would have if I had known that Regina had his heart from before the curse. He broke away from her, and she crushed it. He collapsed and died in my arms as well."
"Oh, Love…" his breath ruffled her hair lightly as he bent his head to rest atop hers and rubbed his hand over her shoulders soothingly. "That does not make it your fault," he crooned lowly.
"No more than Milah's death was yours," Emma replied softly, stroking her fingers in what she hoped was a light, comforting touch over his exposed collarbone and chest showing from the open collar of his burned, stained, and much worse for wear shirt.
There didn't seem much else for either of them to say, but for just a few moments more they lingered close together, drawing strength and warmth in a land that thrived by making those sent there feel nothing but cold and alone. For just a bit longer, they didn't worry about their next move against Hades, meeting up with the others, or how they were going to get out of the Underworld, but simply hung onto each other. Finally, Emma nodded in acceptance, and with one last glance, turned to walk away from Graham's grave, hand holding Killian's tightly. "At least he's finally somewhere good…and he's at peace," she spoke quietly.
Killian squeezed her fingers in his, then linked their arms at the elbows. "Aye…and truly Swan, that is no small thing."
"I hope not," she replied, leaning her head on his shoulder as they meandered back to that realm's version of their home. Still unhurried and savoring a bit of private time reunited, knowing too that it was anyone's guess what new threat might assail them next and that there was at least some safety in numbers. It wouldn't be wise to stay separated from the rest of their group for too long. Of course, both of them wished to find the way back home, to the true Storybrooke as soon as possible. They had earned – they deserved – to begin their future in the actual house of hope that Henry and Killian had found as a promise to her.
"I'm sorry we weren't able to see Milah on to the other side, to her happiness…" Emma murmured as they reached the edge of the cemetery. The words seemed woefully inadequate, and yet she found she had to offer something. He had understood her and helped her process what she had learned of Graham, how many times more should he be finally able to do the same with the memory of his lost first love? Besides, having now met Milah herself, Emma wanted more for the woman in her own right. After all this time and her penance paid, shouldn't she have been allowed something as simple as passing on to find peace and forgiveness in reunion with her son? "We'll find a way to make it right…for you, and for her…someday."
"Maybe," Killian started, and he shook his head, refusing to finish the thought, as if not wanting to let himself harbor false hope.
That as much as anything spurred Emma forward. For all that her love had been a rascal, a villain, a true pirate, Killian had always possessed an unbelievable wellspring of hope that fascinated and bolstered her. When they had been separated by a curse, her very knowledge of his existence erased, he had vowed that "not a day would go by" without him thinking of her until he found her again, when she had been almost completely consumed by the Darkness, he had convinced her that "all sins can be forgiven when someone loves you". He had given up his very home on blind, determined faith that he could cross realms and time to reach her once more. She would not see that miraculous hope snuffed out now.
"When we defeat Hades, when we set thing to rights here, maybe the souls will be allowed what they truly deserve at last instead of being trapped," Emma offered, feeling it ought to be true with all of her heart.
"Aye," Killian agreed simply. "That certainly would be more fitting." They stepped out onto the Main Street once more, still hand-in-hand, and turned toward their destination in the weird crimson light. As they ventured on, he added with heartfelt sincerity in his words. "If nothing else, I am always willing to believe in you."

Do you think Lucy and buck will last as long as Buck and Taylor did?
Hi Nonnie! If it’s okay, I’ll reply to you and to one more anon about Buck and Lucy, but I hope I won’t get more asks about it, ‘coz at this point, it’s still complete conjecture that that’s the direction the show will take.
If (and that’s still a big if) the show goes in that direction, it’s possible that what they want is to explore a Love Interest who isn’t an external one, meaning it’s someone who’s a part of the team, someone who doesn’t exist just as an LI. 5b has been establishing Lucy as a legit part of the team. Especially as Jonah tried and failed to integrate, Lucy in contrast has been accepted into the 118 family, and I think that was quite felt in 518, where she was a part of the banter in the firetruck and also a part of that triumphant walk of the team which was the emotional peak of the season.
TBH, it still doesn’t mean she’ll even be back in s6. I know some like her and some don’t. Albert in s4 was pretty universally loved, and him becoming a fire fighter and hugging it out with the team was the shot which served as the emotional peak of the season, but he still ended up mostly returning in s5 to show why the show didn’t follow through on that direction. He seemed like a part of the gang, and now he’ll be back to appearing only as Chim’s brother, if that. In part, I’m sure, because the actor found another, more meaningful gig. So we don’t know, Lucy’s actress may end up making a similar choice.
If she doesn’t return, the show will probably want to take some time to deepen and re-affirm her place with the firefam. And then if they go for her and Buck together, it will probably take time. They won’t jump into it, because Buck and her are co-workers. And, if 911 goes there, then they’ll also have to build the reveal of their feelings, since 5b was mostly devoid of that. They did spend most of this half season being pretty platonic around each other. If after all that, 911 does get Buck and Lucy together, then I think they stand a chance of being together longer than BuckTaylor, yeah. Taylor was always evidently the wrong person for Buck. Lucy will be a part of the team, and they are quite similar. IDK, the more I talk about it, the less likely it seems, but if it were to happen, that’s how I think they’d play it out.
Thank you for the ask, I hope you have a good day! xoxox
It's so refreshing to see some one acknowledge that Lucy is in fact a likely love interest. It seem as if people want to like her but won't be able to if she is in fact destine to start dating Buck, so they bury there heads in the sand. The fact if, the second they had Buck kiss her it placed her in that position, because if they just wanted to show that buck isn't happy and is perhaps missing the freedom of a single life (or whatever it was meant to tell us) they could have used some random woman in the bar. Hell, they could have just had Lucy be in a single episode, but they didn't, they've brought her in full time and with nothing more to really explain her presence other than as a potential LI.
And honestly, it feels a lot like the PTB not really getting why buddie is popular. It feels like they look at it and think "oh, they want a work place romance, let's do that" without understanding that is goes deeper than that. I had the same reaction to Long Star, because instead of building a relationship from the ground like they've inadvertently done with buddie, they had TK and Carlo hooking up almost immediately. (And now people wonder why the relationship is a mess)
I really hope you are right about BL not lasting long term, but like yourself I'm fully prepared for it to be a thing.
Hi Nonnie! I’m still in a pretty neutral place regarding Lucy, because I feel like I still haven’t seen enough of her to feel passionately about her one way or the other. But I have no doubt that there are people who genuinely like her, because she did have got moments in this half season. And she’s not like Taylor, whose treatment of Bobby in her very first appearance was unmistakably horrible. But yes, they did mark her as someone who will always have that potential with Buck. They won’t necessarily do it and even if they do, they don’t have to do it now, but as long as Lucy will be on the show, they will always be able to decide to explore her and Buck’s r/s more romantically, and they will always be able to fall back on that kiss as justification for that.
I do think it wouldn’t have been the same thing if Buck had kissed a stranger/one time guest character. Him seeing her at the end of 511 was like a small slap in the face, that he couldn’t run away and hide from what was wrong in his r/s that he ended up cheating on his gf, and the fact that Taylor thought it was just a random woman, when we all knew it wasn’t, showed that even after the supposed reconciliation, B/T’s issues didn’t suddenly disappear. But yeah, the second that they did go there with Lucy, they will always have that potential to go back to if and when they wanted to.
As you can see from my reply in the first part of this post, I do agree with you that it’s possible what they want to explore is an LI who’s also integrated into the team and is therefore a character in their own right. I’ll just add that I didn’t say if 911 goes for Buck and Lucy as a couple it would be short, I said I didn’t think it was endgame. And I still don’t. ‘Coz the way they built it, I honestly can’t see anyone but Buddie being endgame... They’ve made us see it with everything they built between Buck and Eddie, and I’m sure they know that we can’t unsee all of that now!
Thank you as well, and I hope you too have a wonderful day! xoxox
(I got an influx of asks, I WILL answer all of them, but it might take a sec. If anyone wants to check whether I've already answered theirs or to read my replies, here's my ask tag. Thank you! xoxox)

From boom to bust.
What in the ever fucking hell was that Supergirl?
Okay, quickly. It wasn't as bad as some episodes. It had some great moments, but as is so often the problem since S5 on the show, they got completely overridden by the shit portions.
The biggest one? Well, everyone is rightly complaining about the lack of Alex telling Kelly that Kara is Supergirl.
I'm still reeling from this one. When it became apparent that Kelly knew - I will be honest, I was so stunned, I couldn't even appreciate the great acting by Chyler and Azie. It detracted that much from their scene. And it never should have, because once again, they showed why so many of us love seeing them work together.
So now the next one on my list.
Tough to chose, but I'm going with the time issue.
When was this episode supposed to be set, in relation to episode one?
Because we get the introduction of Silas, and while they don't give a timescale on how long Kara has been missing, the way Nia then mentions Kara still being with Cat Grant, and the initial CatCo scene, all suggests this is very quickly after 6.01 ended.
Plus, even in The Tower, the suggestion is it hasn't been long at all since Kara was lost to the PZ.
But then, William (more on him later) is standing in CatCo, no sling. No sign of having ever been shot. Now, don't get me wrong, I've never been shot, but I have a multitude of health issues, and even if he had great physio, there should be no way in hell his arm has that much movement without some kind of impingement.
But then we have the trial of Lex.
Now even in Supergirl's world, there is no way that a trial would be just a couple of days after Kara is sent to the PZ.
And CatCo has published their hit pieces on Lex. The pieces they were still only discussing in the opening portion of the episode.
Cue in Kelly and Alex - no mention is given on how long Kara has been missing.
So is it days, (highly unlikely) weeks, (possible) or months (who the fuck knows).
That scene with Kelly and Alex was sitting there, just ready to give us the clarification on how long they've been trying to rescue her. But as usual, we are having to make up our own minds and try to figure this shit out ourselves.
William. What is the point of him? No seriously. What does his character bring. Other than him sitting in front of a monitor (oh yeah, what happened about trying to get to the court 🙄) like some neanderthal, grunting at the screen, throwing a temper tantrum at the Lex trial.
We got those scenes by him edited in, but nothing from Kelly and Alex that would've been far more impactful and emotional for the main audience.
William is utterly pointless.
Lex - to sum it up, I love Jon Cryer. I love his version of Lex Luthor.
I am so done with his villainous monologues and looks. It is not the damn Lex Luthor show. How do they not know this, even now. Episode one, I thought it was okay, but this episode - enough already.
Which brings me to Andrea. Look, I love Julie, and I've no issue with Andrea as a character per se, but already I'm sensing that Andrea is drifting towards the same fate as William, of being surplus to requirements.
These are my immediate thoughts on the episode. I know many more will go through my mind as I think on it, but right now - thank fuck that wasn't the season opener as planned, because I would've easily turned off.
The only thing keeping me going so far, is knowing that we are getting more action as Superfriends in general, plus we know Jon didn't film for much longer. Even if we are supposed to be getting Lex back in 5b for an undetermined amount of time. God helps us all.
Oh I almost forgot - Kara delivering that speech knowing what it is like to lose everyone you love. I've got no clue what she was referencing there. Not. A. One. Nothing we know from previous seasons fits the actual dialogue she gave. So many choices could've been made, and yet we got more confusion over what she was referring to.
Last thought, since we know Nia is involved with Brainy in the upcoming Midvale episodes, I'm wondering if that scene at The Tower with Brainy, Dreamer had is a precursor to the Midvale episodes but she didn't realise it, because of the circumstances of why she saw it? I guess we wait and see.
Do better Supergirl. Jesus, the writing alone this episode. I see better consistency with fanfic writers. Netflix has SG if you need to check on things, and failing that, Google is only a few keystrokes away to the answer.
Let's hope this improves because if it carries on in this vein, watch viewing numbers plummet again.
Unedited by me before posting, so apologies for any errors.
Oh shit. I forgot to add. I'm also sick and tired of Kelly shouldering everyone else. Kara was her friend too. Moreso her girlfriends sister. Not only has she now been told who Kara is, the impact that has isn't just on Alex.
Is it this unconscious bias that Black women are strong and should carry every burden? Because that's how it comes across to me.
I want Nia or Lena even being there for Kelly FFS.

Alex’s Instagram Live interview with Tommy DiDario for #LetsStayTogether
Once again this got extremely long. Because as usual I cannot grasp the simple concept of ‘Highlights’. I basically wanted to write every single sentence down. Forgive me.
(note: this interview contains spoilers for the Vikings finale!)
The comments are turned off. This sets a relaxing mood for the interview.
Alex starts by asking if he’s getting through alright, Tommy is in New York and Alex is in Denmark. Which can make the time difference and connection difficult. He was confused about the actual time of the interview. His email said the show would be at 9pm, but the instagram countdown was set for 7pm. He’s not a technical person so he got a little nervous and was very happy to be live.
Tommy mentioned he started the show #LetsStayTogether during covid to give people a place where they can turn to for some joy, hope and inspiration. A place to just have fun. He said Alex brings all that and more so it was a pleasure to have him on the show.
He spoke about his character and the show Vikings, and asked him What made him want to play the part of Ivar on the Show. Alex answered the question with him being a ‘nobody’ when he came into the show, and he was very thankful to get the opportunity. He didn’t think about wether or not he liked the character, for him it was more like “I’m going to be an actor on Vikings? Are you kidding me? That’s a solid yes.” He didn’t even know what character he was going to play. It started with a regular self-tape of him doing weird accents and weird lines and then multiple auditions for all of the brothers. He said it was an intense audition. He remembered coming into the room and immediately noticing that the people present there were very important.
Tommy mentioned the darkness he brought to the show, the rise and fall of Ivar and how people were rooting for him in the end, and then asked Alex what he loved about playing such a great character like this. Alex answered with the ups and down’s, those are always fun for an actor to get into. Ivar is complicated and that’s always fun to take on as an actor. you always have to defend him [Ivar] even despite him making that very tough. “When he started burning people for a living I was like Michael Hirst are you kidding me. How am I supposed to make people still kind of love him?” It was challenging and fun.
Tommy asked Alex if he was protective of him [Ivar] because he felt like he had to figure out a way to make people like him. Alex answered with: Absolutely. He needs to be, because he always has to understand him and never judge him. And if he would struggle with that, the audience would absolutely 100% too. He has to be the last line of defense. He explained his thoughts and reasoning behind Ivar’s decisions. If he can reason with his thoughts and feelings behind it, it can completely change how he says his lines. It’s all in the little details and that’s what makes the job fun.
He didn’t get his script long ahead of time, only a week, so when he was still rehearsing his lines for one episode he already got his lines for the next and that was really though.
Tommy asked him why he [Alex] thinks is the reason fansresponded so well to his character even with his darknes. Alex answered this wit that he thinks it’s because he’s an antihero. You like rooting for someone who isn’t always perfect because we as human beings are also not always perfect. (He compared it to him liking batman over superman because batman is more flawed than superman.) He also said that he loves that he’s [Ivar] complicated. Every time you create a character that has a lot of depth to them, you challenge the audience and force the audience to always question him and ask themselves what they think about him and his actions. Why is he doing what he’s doing? That keeps people invested and engaged with the story/character. That’s his job.
Favorite scenes: Alex’s favorite scenes are 5x03 where Ivar is yelling, covered in blood in York. (He repeated his iconic Icelandic line as usual.) Another favorite scene was the one where Ivar said goodbye to Baldur in the woods. It is a scene that is really close to his heart. This is because Ivar was honest and vulnerable. Usually he’s doing crazy stuff and yelling and killing people. Alex likes the quiet moments more where he’s just in his own head and having a heart time. He loved the scene because it was so real.
Tommy asked Alex how he views Ivar’s relationship with love. (Absent father, overprotective and smothering mother, a tragic marriage, how does Ivar view love after this.) Alex said that he understands why Ivar does not understand love. After his absent father, smothering mother, tough love from his brothers, he was so blinded by Freydis’ love and his love for her that she could fully manipulate him. It was a complete disaster. When they started season 6 Alex thought that Ivar had completely given up on love. He had discussed this issue with Michael Hirst and the directors. Alex found him to be a sociopath and not an actual psychopath. Because he understands emotions, and he has a lot of them. He does have love and he does have empathy. He thought it was great to focus more on that in season 6. Showing more of Ivar’s human side was very important to him. He has many emotions and he was never just a crazy guy, Alex never thought he was crazy, nor that he was a god, he believed that Ivar knew better than to actually view himself a god. He thinks Ivar is an actor, and he is more broken on the inside than on the outside. The whole “I’m a god” act was all fake, and it was Ivar’s defense mechanism.
For his journey in season 6, Alex asked Michael Hirst to take it down a notch for Ivar. in season 5, especially 5B, he was challenging to like and Alex was struggling to defend him. He wanted to turn that around. He said that after losing his wife, his throne, and being on the run really makes him think. He says Ivar was smart enough to learn from his mistakes. He loved to come to a new place and start from the beginning. He did say that even with the new beginning Ivar was still plotting and manipulating and smart. He is still Ivar the Boneless. Alex was always amazed by his smarts when he read the scripts. He loves season 6 because Ivar was more human and humble.
They discuss Ivar’s death in the final episode. Alex said that he was on top of that. It was completely his idea. He wanted him to go out with a bang and not survive. He told Michael Hirst he wanted a death scene for Ivar. He also discussed with Michael that he loved the idea of Ivar being scared in the end. That he showed himself to be extemely human in his very last moments. Which Alex himself thinks all of us would be. Ivar is the guy who has been yelling that he’s a god, and he loved to contrast of him showing who he really was in the end, and just being afraid. He wanted him to be human in the end, the little boy that he really is. He needed him to show it in his last moment. He thought it was a beautiful brotherly and honest moment. Quote: “I like honesty.” He said that it was also one of his favorite scenes.
Tommy asked what it was like for him, and Alex said that he was bawling his eyes out. He cried the entire day. It was the end of 3,5 years of Vikings, the end of a very intense period of his life and it had been extremely challenging. He was happy to go but he also knew he was going to miss everyone. They were like family. It was the very last scene he shot, and it was magical to finish filming the show with his death scene. After it he was like I guess it is really over. He got a microphone and a signed shield with little messages. He was crying and everyone was gathering around him in a circle, which made him very nervous. It was a regular day with many extras and crew members and performing for them is no problem but when it get’s personal it’s more difficult. It felt like a very private moment. It wasn’t until he got home 14 days later that he fully understood what happened.
Tommy said that he understood that after such an intense role it would take a bit to come back from that and realize what he’s done. Alex agreed 100%. He said it can really feel like an empty dark hole, because you’re so used to working with so many people around him and he’s in a groove and all of a sudden it stops.
He mentioned that he was in his studio, and that he has a band. “That’s what’s happening in the background here.” It’s a fun hobby, nothing official. It’s just them doing decent cover songs. When Tommy asked if we would be able to hear any of them Alex answered with: “Absolutely not”. He joked about it being a secret passion and that it’s not supposed to be talked about. Tommy said no one would be opposed to them releasing a single.
After tommy asked about on set relationships Alex said they were all really close like a family. Filming was tough, not the best circumstances, 15 hour workdays, no breaks, eating the same cold food in between takes and the only way to get through it is because you’re with family. He said he worked with incredibly beautiful and talented people and that helped getting through it. He says he keeps in touch with a lot of people, not just cast members. He said that this is the beautiful thing about this job, you get families all around the world. He mentioned that there were a lot of food battles between the actors.
They moved on to the most popular fan questions.
Who would Alex play if he wasn’t Ivar? In return Alex asked if he could pick anyone and it wouldn’t matter. He jokingly said Lagertha, then said he would actually like it. Then he said Floki because he loves both Floki and Gustaf. (insert little floki laugh.) He also said Ragnar and King Ecbert.
What was the experience like filming Ivar’s genetic disorder? Alex said it was such a challenge. Especially physically because had to crawl around. He thought it was very important to him because he studied OI for his role and he said it’s an awful disease. It was important to him to make it as authentic as possible and show the struggles people who have that disease go through every day. Tommy said that people really appreciated the honesty that Alex brought to that portion of the character and he saw a lot of comments from people in the disabled community saying that they appreciated seeing someone go through that on a mainstream show because they can relate to it. It’s very powerful. Alex had also received some messages from people suffering from OI and it was very inspirational and humbling. It made the experience even better because he likes that he can give people the extra confidence to go out there and do things.
The third question was if Alex would ever be interested in doing a prequel about Ivar’s life. Alex said that he would want to. He jokingly said: “Why not? if the money is good enough.” Of course he would because he loves his character. He also said that even though he would love to, he also has to admit that his character has been a big part of his life and he would like to do portray other characters. (They joked about a lot of people wanting to see Alex in a romantic comedy and Alex mentioned it’s not his favorite thing to do).
Is there a behind the scenes secret that people would be surprised to know about? Alex said that on Vikings they were allowed to write their own lines once in a while and that’s not very common.
Alex’s screen froze and he suddenly left the livestream, but he finally was able to come back after a few minutes. (Insert embarrassed face and him apologizing for being a technical disaster).
He continued about writing their own lines. They really had a say in their own lines and character’s storylines and that was amazing. It helped getting a better sense of understanding characters.
Tommy asked him if he had a favorite line or scene that he’s written. Alex told about the scene where Hvitserk and Ivar meet each other again in season 6 after being separated for a long time. Marco and himself wrote the tiny scene together where they sit together next to the river where Ivar says to Hvitserk: “You look like shit” and Hvitserk replies with “I feel like it.” Followed by “What are you wearing?” Alex loves that little moment because after everything it brings them straight back to their original relationship.
The last fan question was actually not a question, it was a happy early birthday! Tommy asked Alex how he would celebrate and what he would like for his birthday. Alex answered the question with Less COVID and peace in the world. It’s really the time to stick together. He can talk about it and use his platform but that’s all he himself can do. He said he’s happy and priveleged, everything is good. Copenhagen is opening up. Because cafe’s are opening up again he can go out to have lunch and a beer. But there are so much places around the world where circumstances are horrible and it would make him happy if everyone could get a little closer together. Tommy agreed that it was an important message to put out there.
They joked about his band again, Alex not committing to putting anything out. Alex said it’s absolutely noted. He also jokingly said he would tell his bandmates that they should put out some originals.
They spoke about Alex’s photography. Alex said it’s a side thing and a hobby, a way for him (when on set) to relax and focus his mind on something else. He also thinks it’s so much fun to capture moments. He likes to capture moments in front and behind the camera, that’s what photography for him is about. Capturing moments and telling stories. It’s a pleasure to bring his camera on set because he can capture so many different things. He likes to keep doing it. He also said he’s working on a photography book but he wants to wait with releasing it until he has enough good material from a lot of different projects to include.
Finally Tommy asked him what he would like to say to everyone who tuned in and who stood by him for all these years. Alex answered with: “Thank you very much for all the support throughout the years, he literally couldn’t have done it without you [the fans] because that’s why they keep doing another season and another episode. Because you tune in every single week and do that for several years. It’s all for the fans. Sure they do it for themselves but in the end it’s all for you and they are proudly trying to make it as good as possible because of you, and because you are watching. Thank you for doing that.”

Riverdale 5b Trailer Reaction
Just watched the 5b trailer and I am soo confused, like what is going on?
I mean there were loads of Veronica and Reggie scenes so does that mean the rise of Veggie possibly?
But then there is also a shot of where it looks like V is kissing Chad in a car? Some are saying that it’s young Hiram and Hermione, it definitely could be, but looking at the side profiles of chad’s actor (on left) and young hiram’s (on right) it does look more like chad to me. It’s that sharper more angular jawline that chad has. Maybe Veronica is trying to manipulate him some how. But it is really hard to tell the difference between chad and young hiram so... Hmm V really did marry her dad didn’t she.
Tumblr media
It does look like Reggie might be turning on Hiram and joining the good guys judging by the scene where he and V are toasting each other which I think could be fun to watch him playing double agent.
Tumblr media
The Pussycat’s are back!!
Tumblr media
Josie is kissing sweet pea?
Tumblr media
Josie and Tabitha are getting scenes together, so down for that.
Tumblr media
And the girls are starring in Coyote Ugly, one night only.
Tumblr media
Chad is killing someone? Or is that young Hiram again?? I really can’t tell at this point.
Tumblr media
Speaking of killing, Betty has gone off the deep end it appears. A chain saw betty, really??
Tumblr media
It also seems like Archie might be struggling with some darker thoughts if his line about not wanting to put someone in jail but wanting to hurt them is anything to go by. Couple that with his uncle’s line of you can’t save everyone and I reckon Hiram has done something that has effected Eric in someway. Archie is beating up alot of people in this trailer too so defo going dark side a bit, maybe? Also Archie wartime flashbacks? This time not on a football field.
Tumblr media
Also Jughead flashbacks potentially? Maybe we’ll find out more about his missing time in new york?
Tumblr media
Cheryl and momma blossom have started a cult, sorry a ministry. Which yeah that seems like a good idea, gotta love those healthy mother/ daughter bonding moments.
Tumblr media
BABY!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
So yeah trailer was bonkers, very riverdale.

FICTOBER 2020 - day thirteen
Prompt #13: “I missed this.”
Fandom: Teen Wolf
Characters: Scott McCall, Alan Deaton
Words: 1420
Author’s Note: Scott & Deaton have a quiet afternoon in the clinic, and maybe talk about hard things, maybe just talk about cats. Post 5B. Scott McCall POV. Read the extended version (3k) on Ao3.
>> administered twice, daily
Scott doesn’t have a proper shift at the clinic until a full week after all the loose ends with Beast are tied up.
He knows it’s been—a lot, to say the least—but he doesn’t realize how on edge he’s been until he walks in the back door, fifteen minutes early, and immediately sags in relief at the sight of the Doctor calmly filling out prescriptions.
He’s still here.
The Doc must notice his reaction, because he lays his pen down on the clipboard and moves his full attention to him. “Something the matter?”
“Hm? Oh, no. I just…” Scott shrugs, heading to the cabinet to pull out the disinfectant and scrubbing brush for the dog cages. “…I missed this.”
“Had I known cleaning out the cages was so important to you, I could have added it more regularly to your daily tasks.”
Scott laughs. “No, that’s okay, you super don’t need to do that. I just meant… this.”
“Ah.” Deaton’s expression softens. “I believe I know what you mean.”
It’s not much of an opening, but the second it presents itself, Scott can’t help it.
“I thought I’d lost you,” he says, before he can think better of it. He knows the Doctor usually prefers to leave this kind of thing unacknowledged, but—the sting of almost losing his pack, thanks in large part to a lack of communication, is still too close.
Deaton, who’d only just begun writing again, pauses. “If it’s any consolation, I rather thought I’d lost me as well. Remind me to thank Malia again for her timely appearance.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t find you,” Scott says. “You shouldn’t—you shouldn’t have had to go through that alone.”
“Thank you,” Deaton says. He sets the clipboard down on the desk and moves to the next one. “Though as I understand it, I almost lost you as well.”
Deaton gives a significant look towards the center of Scott’s chest, and even though it’s been several days since it fully healed, his muscles still clench painfully.
Scott swallows. “It wasn’t that big of a deal. I’m fine now.”
“Now, yes,” Deaton agrees. “But not then.”
Scott remembers words like knives, twisting in the pouring rain; a superhuman strength, powered solely through its hatred of him; claws piercing his heart, left to bleed out all alone.
He’s forgiven them now—or at least, two of them—but he’s still not sure which ultimately cut deeper.
“Who told you,” Scott says, his voice small.
“Once again, I find myself indebted to Malia. She seemed quite worried.”
Scott hears the implicit ‘I was worried, too,’ loud and clear in his statement, and it makes him feel equal parts gratified and guilty.
“I don’t…” Scott bites his lip and looks at the floor. No lying. “…I know. There’s just… a lot to fix. I don’t even know where to get started.”
“Hm.” The Doc taps his pen thoughtfully against the page, then slips it into his jacket pocket and tucks the clipboard under his arm. “Would you mind bringing Sophie to the examination room? I think it’s about time for her insulin injection.”
Scott arches his eyebrows, surprised by the sudden change of topic, but familiar enough with his mentor to not take offense. “Uh, yeah. Sure.”
He sets the cleaning supplies down and heads to the backroom. There, he pauses briefly to say hello to Felix—the American Wirehair cat that finds himself in trouble more often than not—and then locates the maine coon in one of the cages on the right wall, coaxing her out with minimal difficulty.
Deaton’s already waiting for him when he brings Sophie into the main room, the air drawn into the needle and needle puncturing the upsidedown medicine bottle, so Scott dislodges Sophie’s claws from his shirt and sets her down on the table without comment.
“Hold her steady, please.”
Scott buries his hand gently into the fur on Sophie’s back, scratching her under the chin with his other hand to help relax her into a lying position.
Being a vet assistant, as it happens, mostly involves an absurd amount of holding—holding forms, holding doors, holding pets.
Sophie purrs and butts her head against Scott’s hand, seeking out his touch.
Holding pets is most definitely his favorite part.
“She seems very calm.”
Scott glances up—the Doc seems unconcerned as he draws the insulin into the syringe, correctly measuring the dosage with a speed and assurance that always amazes him.
“I don’t have to do much.” Scott gives Sophie a few extra scritches. “She’s pretty good at behaving herself, as long as she gets enough attention.”
“Very true,” Deaton says, tapping the syringe against his fingernail to release the air bubbles. “But nonetheless, I remember how your presence made those of the felis genus rather unnerved when you were first bitten.”
Scott smiles at the memory. “Yeah, the whole cat section went crazy. I thought I was crazy.”
“It certainly did seem that way,” Deaton agrees. “It took several weeks for you to learn how to approach them without causing a stir.”
“I honestly thought you were going to fire me over it.”
Deaton nods and Scott inches his hands further away from the intended injection site. Sophie remains placid as the needle pierces her quadriceps muscle, the Doctor only moving his thumb over the depressor once the syringe is secured.
“That would truly have been a waste,” Deaton says, administering the insulin and then removing the needle in one smooth motion. “I had every confidence you would figure it out.”
Scott runs his hand through Sophie’s fur, checking for any liquid in case the dosage didn’t take, while Deaton disposes of the needle. Once satisfied, he gives her another scratch behind the ears.
“Good girl,” he says, scooping her up off the examination table and tucking her against his chest.
Deaton returns, giving Sophie a quick neck rub as well. “Thank you, Scott. You can take her back now.”
Scott slides off the chair he’d been perched on, careful not to dislodge the cat, and carries her back to the overnight room.
He’s struck, this time, by how little of a reaction there is. There are over a dozen cats in the room, all at various stages of alertness, but none of them so much as tense at his presence.
He hovers there for a moment, Sophie’s contented purrs vibrating through his chest, a gentle reminder that his ribcage is whole and his lungs unbruised. He closes his eyes and breathes.
He hears the soft footfall of the Doctor’s gait as he comes up behind him. It’s comforting, unlike the sound of the Doctors that had been haunting him and his pack for the past few months.
Deaton rests a hand on his shoulder.
“It’s been my experience,” he says, “that things that seem insurmountable at the time often turn into simply another part of life, once we’ve had enough space to work them out.”
A shudder runs through him, but Sophie just cuddles closer to his chest. He opens his eyes and marvels at her, thinking of how impossible the act would’ve been two years ago.
“How,” he manages, before he stops again.
Deaton doesn’t seem to mind. “Well, you can’t ignore them. I think we have more than enough evidence to demonstrate the futility of that approach.”
Scott winces, but the words are said in empathy, not judgement. Sophie wriggles impatiently in his arms, so Deaton unlocks her cage for him, and he gently lets her go.
Deaton smiles at the cat as he closes the door. “She’ll need to keep receiving the insulin shots twice daily, but she’s doing quite well. Her glycemic control is excellent for how long she’s been diagnosed.”
Scott kneels down to watch Sophie play with the cat toy in her cage, blissfully unaware of the conversation pertaining to her. “You think it’ll go away?”
“It might,” Deaton says. “Remission is certainly possible at this point, provided she’s properly supported and continues her treatment. But regardless, even if it doesn’t, those things will still do more than enough to allow her to live a long and happy life chasing mice and chewing furniture.”
Scott snorts, and watches the cat a moment longer.
“Support and daily treatment,” he repeats.
“Yes,” Deaton says. “That should set Sophie up quite nicely.”
Deaton straightens and walks over to the door, holding it open in invitation. “Coming?”
Scotts stands, and brushes off his jeans.
“Yeah. I’m coming.”

So Close - S.S. XLIII
Summary: The universe has a funny way of putting the things you want right in front of you, but just out of reach. Stiles and Y/N have been best friends ever since Scott brought him home, but when Stiles realizes that he might want to be something other than best friends, she leaves to go to some fancy private school up North. Now that she’s back though … maybe he’s got a shot? A Teen Wolf AU in which the reader has always been so close to Stiles and yet so far.
Masterlist   Prev. | Part 43
Word-count: 7k+
A/N: and that’s 5b!! it’s been crazy but thank you all for reading 💕
Tumblr media
Considering how quickly he got you home, you were pretty sure Stiles broke about a dozen traffic laws in the process, but you were too relieved to crash on your living room couch to care very much. Noah would void any speeding tickets he got anyway.
You settled into the living room couch and Stiles disappeared into the kitchen. He came back with a blood bag and you started pushing yourself up as you argued that you didn't need it. Blood might speed up the process, but it was sickening to drink (and that was when you were alone). It might take a little while, but you’d heal on your own.
“No, listen to me, okay?” Stiles said, kneeling next to the couch to look you in the eye. “You almost bled out in my Jeep. I know you’ll heal on your own, but this’ll make it go faster. And I- I need you to heal.”
Your eyes dropped from his and to the blood bag that he was trying to put in your hand. Mumbling, you curled your hand around the bag. “You fight dirty, Stilinski.”
“You know it, sunshine,” Stiles said with a wink and barely-there smile.
“Can I at least get a straw?”
“What are you gonna do? Drink it like a juice box?”
“Not if you don’t bring me a straw.”
Stiles laughed but disappeared into the kitchen anyway. His laugh was the only thing from this entire night that felt right. It made almost dying feel worth it. But any trace of that laugh was gone when he came back from the kitchen with your straw in one hand and his phone in the other. Scott had texted him.
Mason was the Beast, and he was missing.
You set the bag down on the couch and got to your feet, closing your eyes for a second when you started seeing stars. “Oh my god, we’ve gotta looking for him-”
“Malia’s on it,” Stiles said, guiding you back onto the couch. “So is everyone who’s not on the verge of dying. Plus, Kira’s bringing Scott home now, so we can talk it through with them.”
Annoyingly, his logic checked out; if you went out there now, you could get killed. So instead, you sighed and laid back down on the couch. It hurt too much to keep fighting anyway. “Stiles … will you stay with me until they get back?”
“Of course.”
You made space for him and Stiles sat on the couch with you, very politely ignoring your bloody juice box. As weird as the situation was, it was made weirder by the fact that Stiles reached over and put the tv on. It felt wrong to watch tv when you were drinking blood and the world was ending outside. You guys managed to watch an entire episode of New Girl when Scott and Kira got home and tried to sneak up the stairs to his room.
“We should probably go check on them,” Stiles said, still massaging the one side of your head to make up for when he tried to run a hand through your hair and accidentally got stuck in some of the matted bits. His cheek rested on the top of your head.
You stretched out with a sigh. The blood had kicked in by then, and you were healed enough that moving didn’t hurt or pop open any of the wounds. “Probably.”
“After another episode?” Stiles asked.
You laughed and started untangling yourself from him. “As much as I’d love that, I need to take a shower.”
“Yeah, I didn’t want to mention that but … you kinda smell.” Stiles faked being oblivious as he stretched out and you hit him lightly with one of the throw pillows. He burst out laughing. “What? It’s true.”
You rolled your eyes but went upstairs with him anyway, parting ways in the hallway outside of the bathroom.
Seeing yourself in the mirror, you looked rough. Your clothes were shredded and stained, your arms were scraped up, and there was some blood on the corners of your mouth from when Stiles tried to save you. Kind of scary, but nothing a shower and change of clothes couldn’t fix.
It took longer than expected, but once you were finished and dressed, you looked like yourself again. You were still drying out your hair when you met Stiles in your room. He was sprawled out on your bed, reading through one of the library books you’d taken out when you guys were still trying to figure out who and what the Beast was. He had dark circles around his eyes.
Until that moment, it hadn't registered how difficult this night must have been for him. He'd had to play lacrosse before all hell broke loose and pretend everything was fine. He pretended when you woke up too. You wondered how many times he tried to wake you up before trying to feed you, or how it felt to find you and Liam in a bloody heap in the parking lot.
“Hey, how is your back healing?” you asked as you made your way over to him. Stiles lifted his arm and you ducked underneath to lie down on his chest. “Still sore?”
Stiles shrugged and moved the book so you could get comfortable. “Sometimes. None of them got me deeply,” he said casually. You might have believed him if you couldn’t hear his heart. “What about you?”
“I’ll be back to normal by morning,” you said, placing your hand on his chest. “Do you need me to take some of your pain so you can sleep?”
“Nah, I’ll just take an Advil if it flares up,” Stiles said. Again, his heart jumped ever so slightly, but you didn’t want to push it. This night was stressful for him.
Stiles laid the book down on his stomach and put his hand over yours on his chest. The bandage on his wrist brushed your arm as he moved and your heart lurched. He shouldn’t get hurt so much for you.
“You know, it wasn’t supposed to be like this,” you said.
“Be like what?” Stiles asked.
You tapped his chest uncertainly and took a deep breath. “Deaton said the blood was supposed to be temporary because I died,” you said quietly. “But it’s been like three months and if I don’t drink it then it’s like my body shuts down. I’m supposed to be like Scott but I’m like something out of the freaking Vampire Diaries.”
“Hey, it could be worse. You could be from Twilight,” Stiles pointed out. You rolled your eyes, but he laughed and squeezed your hand slightly. “No, I know it’s not supposed to be like this but it has to be for something, right? Like if you stayed at your fancy private school then everything would be different. Or if Scott hadn’t been bitten then we'd have Derek trying to alpha his way out of a paper bag." That made you smile. "It’s like … as much as this sucks sometimes, it has to be for something.”
It was quiet for a moment, so still that you could hear Stiles’ heartbeat without your super hearing.
“Right?”
You didn’t answer right away. Instead, you moved to prop yourself up on your elbow, your other hand still on his chest. You smiled at him and looked down at his lips for a second before meeting his eyes. “I think you’re my something.”
Stiles’ mouth curled up at the corners and he took his hand off yours to move some hair behind your ear. “I’d like that.”
“Yeah, me too,” you said with a smile. Your hand snaked up from his chest to cup his jaw and you leaned in to kiss him as he tilted his head up. The result was a slightly clumsy kiss at first, but neither of you minded.
---
Seeing as Scott barely survived his fight with the Beast, you all decided to let him sleep in while you met in the kitchen to discuss what to do. Noah had already put an APB out on Mason in case he showed up, and Liam and Malia had been searching through most of the night. Scott didn't need to be there right then, he just needed to heal.
“It still might not be him,” Liam said from the barstool next to you. He’d been so upset the whole morning, understandably so, but it hurt to see him like this. Your other friends must have felt the same because they didn’t say anything. Liam untangled his arm from yours as he said, “But Hayden’s at the school looking anyway.”
“I can keep checking the woods,” Malia offered.
“And my mom can check all the hospitals in the county,” Scott said as he walked in. He didn’t have a scratch on him this morning, but he still needed to rest. “We can find him.”
“What happens then?” Liam asked.
“We figure out a way to save him,” Scott said.
“Okay, where else could we look?” Lydia asked.
“Let’s ask Corey,” Scott said. He put his hand out and grabbed something from the shelf behind him, and Corey materialized a moment later.
All your friends jumped. Liam pulled you behind him as he got to his feet did. It was almost cute enough to distract from Corey's eavesdropping.
“Wait, wait, wait! It’s not my fault,” Corey stammered. “They took him and I couldn’t do anything.”
“They took him? Who?” Scott asked.
“The Dread Doctors,” Corey said. It only took a second of Scott glaring at him for Corey to crack and launch into an explanation of what happened when they left the school the night before. “See, so it wasn’t my fault! I- I was trying to protect him.”
You touched Liam’s arm lightly before he could snap at Corey for not doing a very good job. “We know you tried,” you said. “But it looks like we’re going to need a new plan. Can you tell us anything else?”
Corey looked away from Scott and thought about it for a second. You hoped that some part of him trusted you like Josh did. Eventually, he nodded. “I can tell you everything.”
---
It was decided that the best way to find Mason was to split up. Stiles and Lydia went to talk to Noah, Kira was trying to get her sword back from her dad, Malia gave up on the woods to deal with her mom, and you, Scott, and Liam were going to deal with Theo.
If there was one thing you hated more than your friends splitting up, it was meeting with Theo in the Dread Doctors old operating theatre.
The place gave you the creeps; it was dark, filthy, abandoned, and to top it all off, Theo was there. He stood with his back to you, staring at one of the empty pods. It looked haunted.
“They called him Der Soldat,” Theo said, still looking at the pod. “That’s German for ‘The Soldier.’ I’m pretty sure he fought in World War II.” He turned to face you guys and sighed.
“And he was a Nazi,” Scott guessed.
“And an alpha werewolf,” Theo said. “The Dread Doctors were using him to prolong their lives. They’ve been doing it for decades. Actually, probably longer.”
“Wait, how old are these guys?” Liam asked.
“Who knows,” Theo said. He didn’t add ‘and who cares’ but you knew he was thinking it. He didn’t care about anything other than his own survival. “But wherever they go, he goes, too.”
“So we find him and we find Mason,” you said, arms crossed over your chest. Theo nodded. “How do we find him?”
Theo took a breath and looked down at the ground for a second. “Keeping him alive requires a pretty unique set of conditions: there’s got to be a power source, it has to be underground-”
“And on a telluric current,” Scott said. He took out a copy of the telluric current map from his jacket sleeve and handed it to Theo. It hung in the air for a second - with you not thinking this was a good idea and Theo probably not believing this was happening.
He took the map from Scott and smiled as he unfolded it. Almost all the currents intersected in the Beacon Hills Preserve. “Looks like we’re going for a hike,” Theo said.
Scott looked over at you and Liam, asking what you thought without talking. Liam shrugged, all he wanted to do was find his best friend. You weren’t so sure about it but you nodded anyway. It was better to have Theo in your sights than lurking around in the dark on his own.
That’s the only reason why you sat with him on the drive out and why you walked behind him when you got there. Working with him to find Mason was one thing, but trusting him was something you weren’t prepared to do.
After an eternity of walking through the woods in the dark, Scott asked, “So where is he?”
“I thought we were looking for him,” Theo asked, pretending to sound confused.
“You know who I’m talking about,” Scott said.
“Deucalion?” Theo asked. You rolled your eyes.
“You shouldn’t trust him,” Scott said.
“You’re the one who let him live,” Theo said.
“I’m not a murderer,” Scott said.
“You still think you’re gonna get through all this without killing anyone?” Theo asked. He threw a look over his shoulder at you and Liam. “I guess that’s why you have them.”
“Yeah, so don’t push your luck,” you snapped. Theo laughed and looked ready to say something equally snippy but then Liam stopped. He looked like someone punched him.
“We’re close,” he said, looking at the ground. Scott asked if he had Mason’s scent and Liam nodded, but he didn't move.
“Great. Which way?” Theo asked.
Liam looked at you out of the corner of his eye before flicking his eyes over to Scott. He didn’t trust that Theo wouldn’t kill Mason as soon as you found him.
“Oh, you think you’re going to leave me behind?” Theo asked, laughing slightly. Man, the longer this went on, the more unhinged Theo got.
“Liam …” Scott started.
“Look, he wants to kill him,” Liam argued.
“I just want his power,” Theo argued. Like that was any better. “You want to fight someone that actually wants to kill Mason? Go fight Parrish.”
“Who did you see when you put on the mask?” Liam asked.
“I already told you - it wasn’t Mason,” Theo said.
“You want us to trust you?” you asked. You jutted your chin at him. “Then tell us who you saw.”
Theo sighed exasperatedly and looked over at Scott for a second. “I saw a man dying in the snow,” he confessed. “He was impaled on a spear.”
“It’s called a pike,” Scott said. “Lydia told us the story.”
“Then you guys know what it means,” Theo said, surprisingly unbothered by not knowing something. “Time’s running out. Where is he, Liam? What direction?”
Liam still didn’t seem convinced that he could trust Theo, but he was right about time running out. “I can stay here with him,” you offered quietly, touching his sleeve lightly.
“No, it’s-” Liam shook his head. He sighed and started storming past Theo and Scott. “He’s this way.”
The four of you went back to walking in moody silence but Liam picked up the pace as you got closer. He was getting impatient. He didn’t say anything as you guys reached an old wooden structure in the woods - calling it a cabin would be generous, it just looked like a wooden box with overgrown trees around it - or as he reached out to grab the handle, but Scott caught his hand just before he touched it.
“Listen,” Scott said.
There was a heart beating somewhere beyond the wooden frame.
“It’s him.” Liam threw the creaky door open and raced inside.
Scott followed behind him fairly quickly, probably to make sure Liam wouldn’t get lost, which left you with Theo. He looked at you, you glared at him, he laughed under his breath, and then he went inside. You cast one last look at the woods before going inside.
It reminded you of the root cellar that Blake had kept everyone’s parents in; surprisingly built up and covered in dust and decaying roots. The stairs were so old that they groaned with every step and you hoped that none of them were rotted. All you needed was to get a broken ankle.
When you finally reached the bottom, you got goosebumps. It was freezing and only lit by dim green light. This place was haunted by the ghosts of all the failed experiments and violent deaths of the woods. Suddenly, you were glad your friends had decided to split up and that most of them didn’t have to see this.
Liam found Mason collapsed against the big pod that emitted the green light. As happy as you were to find Mason, you couldn’t take your eyes off the decaying body inside the pod. Der Soldat.
Reflexively, you reached out for the person next to you only to find yourself holding onto Theo’s wrist. You let go with a scowl and nodded at Der Soldat. Theo’s eyes landed on him and you could see how hard he was working to not show any emotion on his face.
“It’s connected to him,” Scott said, spotting the tube that ran from Der Soldat’s stomach, up the pod and out again, and into the back of Mason’s neck. He crouched next to Liam to see if he could help Mason.
“What is this thing?” Mason asked. You didn’t even realize he was awake.
“I don’t know,” Theo answered. His eyes met yours for a second and it felt like he meant it.
“Liam, I can feel it,” Mason said. He sounded like he was close to crying, which was understandable considering everything he’d been through these past few weeks, let alone these past few hours. He took a shaky breath. “It- It’s in my skull.”
“Don’t move,” Liam said, looking up at Der Soldat. He was trying to figure out how to disconnect them without ripping out parts of Mason's skull.
“Careful,” Scott warned.
Liam turned to Theo. “What are they doing to him?”
“I don’t know,” Theo said. He sounded too harsh for your liking, even if he was fed up with no one believing him the whole night.
“Guys, let’s focus,” Scott said. Always the alpha. All Scott’s attention was on Mason, and if you were him you wouldn’t want anyone other than Scott on your side. “Mason, we’re gonna get you out of here.” He turned to Liam very slowly and added, “Hold him still. I’m going to try to pull it out. Mason, let me know if it hurts you.”
“Scott, wouldn’t it be easier to sever the tube?” you asked, trying not to sound like you thought the current course of action would kill Mason.
“We’ll try that next,” Scott said. He wrapped his hand around the bit of glass that encased a part of the tube and started pulling.
Immediately, Mason started screaming. Scott let go. “It hurts!” Mason groaned. “It definitely hurts.”
“I barely moved it,” Scott said to Liam.
The clicking started before Liam could respond, coupled with the heavy breathing and low hum of their suits. You looked at Theo out of the corner of your eye before you both turned to face the Dread Doctor. If this was a trap, he didn't know about it.
You moved, slowly, in front of Liam and Mason as Scott stood up.
“They wanted us here,” Theo said in a low voice. He didn’t take his eyes off the Dread Doctor, but they snapped to the other side of the room when the clicking started again. Another Dread Doctor. You just needed one more to complete the set.
“Help Liam get that thing out of Mason’s neck,” Scott told you quietly.
You crouched down and nodded at Liam as one of the Dread Doctors hissed from the back of the room. It called Theo a failure. As much as you agreed, you had other problems you needed to focus on.
You looked for the part where the tubes connected. If there was a weak spot, that was bound to be it. There wasn’t one. But if you could cut the tube, then you might be able to make a run for it, even if someone had to support Mason and the thing attached to his head.
“Liam,” you whispered. You nodded at the tube and reached for your knife. He nodded and held onto Mason. The two of you just had to trust that Scott and Theo could hold off the Dread Doctors while they verbally destroyed what was left of Theo’s self-esteem.
“From you, we learned that true evil only comes from corrupting something truly good,” the Dread Doctor hissed. Theo threw a punch at him.
You forced the knife through the tube as all hell broke loose. Scott jumped into action and Liam dove forward to protect you from the other Dread Doctor, but Mason was groaning. The fluid was leaking out of the broken tube. He yelled for Liam, and you tried to help but it was like he couldn’t even see you there. You thought you’d killed him when he screamed and got to his feet.
“Transformation without frequency,” the Dread Doctor said.
Mason’s eyes started glowing and you backed away as quickly as you could. Liam called out his name as the shadows started engulfing Mason. “That’s not my name,” Mason said in a deep and distorted voice. The shadows wrapped around him and he transformed into the Beast.
You ducked as it swung its arm at you and heard it crack one of the Dread Doctors’ masks. You crawled over to Liam and Scott in an attempt to get away, lungs burning from the memory of being torn out the last time you got close to this thing.
The Beast lifted one of the Dread Doctors into the air by their neck and literally squeezed their head off. The body fell with a deafening thud. And then it threw Theo to the ground and grabbed the other Dread Doctor, dragging it up the stairs.
By the time you guys got up there with it, Parrish was there and Chris and Gerard were unloading shotgun bullets into The Beast’s back as it tried to get away. It started transforming on the other side of the bridge, but you weren’t looking at Mason when it was done.
“La Bete du Gevudian, I know your name!” Gerard said. The man turned to look at Gerard over his shoulder. “Do you remember mine?”
He grimaced slightly. “Argent.” The man took off into the forest and Parrish raced after him.
“Who the hell was that?” Scott asked.
“You’ve seen the Beast of Gevaudan,” Gerard said. He nodded in the direction where the man and Parrish went running. “That was the Man.”
“Sebastien Valet,” Chris said, much more helpfully.
“But if that was Sebastien then … what happened to Mason?” you asked.
“I don’t know,” Chris said, taking his eyes off the woods to look at you. His heartbeat jumped. “We’ll follow Parrish. You kids see if he’s still alive and take him to the animal clinic.”
“Theo will be fine,” you said.
“Not him,” Gerard said with that creepy smile of his. “The Surgeon.”
As if in response, the Dread Doctor on the floor’s suit let out its familiar clicking sound. You only had a second to look at Scott before he dove to pick up the Dread Doctor. With your brother carrying the almost lifeless body of your enemy, you and Liam led the way back to the car.
At least with Scott keeping the Dread Doctor together, you got to drive. You made it to Deaton’s in record time with minimal curse words.
You threw open the back door for Scott and Liam to carry the Dread Doctor, but paused when you got inside and saw Stiles with Deaton and a case file. They knew something.
“He’s still alive,” Scott said, snapping you out of your thoughts. He and Liam pushed past Stiles and Deaton to put the Dread Doctor on the exam table. The suit was still clicking, but not humming. “Can you keep him alive?” Scott asked as Deaton started feeling where the Dread Doctor’s organs should have been.
“I’m not sure he technically is alive,” Deaton said.
“Screw keeping him alive. How do we get him to talk?” Liam asked.
“Personally, I don’t think we utilize torture nearly enough,” Stiles said. God, you missed him a disgusting amount for only being separated for a day.
You were about to say that the Dread Doctor needed to be alive to talk when a man’s voice echoed in your head. “Come.” You blinked in an attempt to focus.
“Did you hear that?” Liam asked.
“Come to me,” the man said. It had to be Sebastien. You looked towards the back door to try and figure out where he was. “To me.”
The Dread Doctor bolted up, his suit clicking and making a high-pitched vibrating noise. It was almost as good at scrambling your brain as one of Lydia’s screams. You clutched your ears and collapsed to the ground as everything in the clinic shuddered. You and Stiles crouched together, and you barely saw Liam jumping into action before Scott started yelling.
“Liam, wait!”
The Dread Doctor sent out a blast that knocked Liam into a wall and walked out. He sent off another one when he was outside, frying the electrical circuit and magnetizing the door. You barely had enough time to pull Stiles out of the way before one of the tables tried to decapitate him.
You didn’t have time to check on Stiles before Liam ran towards the exit and another set of sparks went flying.
“Stop!” Deaton yelled. You and Stiles got to your feet, holding shaky hands. “It’s electrified.”
You stood deathly still as you tried to drown out the electricity and focus on what Sebastian and the Dread Doctor were saying. He wanted the pike but the Dread Doctor said the Argents had it.
“The cane,” Scott whispered.
“But they took it,” Liam said. “They took the cane.”
And then the Dread Doctor fell to the ground. You jumped at the sound his skull made as it met the pavement. He was dead. All the Dread Doctors were dead.
---
“Maybe there’s something in here,” Scott said as he flipped through the pages in the case file that Stiles had brought. “Something about how he was a genetic chimera.”
“Mason had a vanishing twin,” Deaton said.
“Now we’ve got a vanishing Mason,” Stiles said.
“Wait, he ate his twin in the womb?” you asked. It wasn’t the weirdest thing to ever happen but you couldn’t help your reaction. Deaton nodded but Liam started talking before he could say anything.
“What does that have to do with him turning into a 250-year-old French guy?” Liam asked. “How does that even happen?”
Deaton touched Liam’s arm gently. “Hold on, Scott might have something.” He paused for a second to breathe and gather his thoughts. “Mason’s twin wasn’t entirely gone. That’s what made him a genetic chimera.”
A moment of silence passed and then Scott said, “The DNA was still there.”
“Metaphorically speaking, the DNA of Mason could still be inside Sebastien as well,” Deaton said with a nod.
“How?” Stiles asked.
“Life is energy. Energy doesn’t just disappear,” Deaton said. He looked down at the mask on the exam table. “The Dread Doctors may have found a way to break the rules of the supernatural world, but there are some rules that simply won’t break.”
“So Mason can’t just be gone?” Liam asked, sounding more hopeful than he'd been all day.
“Somewhere in Sebastien, Mason has to still exist in some form,” Deaton said. Stiles picked up the mask as Deaton spoke. You half expected it to start clicking. “A spark of energy, a flicker of memory.”
Stiles looked up. “Hang on … Liam, you said Mason said something right before he turned.”
“He said, ‘That’s not my name,’” Liam said.
“He finally remembered his name,” Scott said, looking at Stiles.
“Damnatio Memoriae,” Stiles said.
“That’s what they wanted!” Liam said. “They wanted Sebastien to remember his name.”
“So all we need to do is get Mason to remember who he is,” you said.
“How do we do that?” Liam asked. “Walk up to the Beast, yell Mason’s name and turn him back?”
“Not us,” Scott said. “Lydia.”
---
Either Sebastien remembered Lydia from Mason’s memories or he got lucky at the police station. Thankfully, she was still alive - Noah got her to the hospital in time - but you and Liam had to wait in the waiting room while Stiles and Scott spoke to her.
You stood up when Scott started walking closer. “Is Lydia okay?”
“She’s gonna be fine, but …” Scott took a breath and looked over your shoulder at Liam. “She can’t really talk.”
“Then it’s over, isn’t it?” Liam asked. He was so upset when you turned to look at him that he looked ready to punch a wall. But he kept himself still. “There’s nothing we can do to save him.”
Scott’s phone vibrated and you frowned at him. “What’s wrong?” you asked.
“I’ve got two voicemails from Kira,” Scott mumbled. “Give me a second.”
He walked away to take his call and you turned back to Liam. “I’m sorry, biscuit,” you said gently. As you sat down next to him, you took his hand in yours. “We’ll figure something out. You know we’re not going to give up on him.”
“Thanks,” Liam said with a small smile. It was probably all he could muster up at the time. You didn’t want to pretend that you knew what he was going through, so you just held his hand.
When Scott turned back around, he walked over quickly. “Get up,” he said.
“Why?” Liam asked.
“Because I’ve got an idea,” Scott said. “And because this isn’t over.”
“What’s your idea?” you asked. Scott got his goofy smile on his face like he knew what you were going to say when he was done explaining. Rightfully so, because as soon as he was done, you said, “This is the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard.”
“I know,” Scott said with a smile. “Come on.”
You and Liam followed Scott to Lydia’s room where you waited for Melissa to bring the cortisone shot. It was an awful wait but you were glad to see Lydia again. She couldn’t talk but you braided her into a bad replica of one of her signature braids. You’d just finished when your mom came in with Stiles behind her.
“Lydia, this is going to have to be just between us, since I can get fired for it,” Mel said in her gentlest voice.
“It’s a cortisone shot,” Scott explained in his alpha voice. It made you wonder if you had a voice like they did. “It’s gonna bring the inflammation down.”
Lydia nodded and Mel prepped the shot. She took the bandage off Lydia’s neck and you dropped your gaze. You weren’t the only one who was squeamish.
“Oh, yeah, okay. I’m gonna need to leave,” Stiles said awkwardly. You grabbed his hand to keep him in place and gave him a look. “Okay, fine. I’m not leaving, but I still might faint.”
“I’ll catch you,” you teased quietly. You squeezed his hand and reached for Lydia’s hand with your other. And then Liam fainted.
“Okay, Lydia, this is going to hurt like a bitch,” Mel said, ignoring the passed out teenage boy at her feet. She held Lydia’s chin in her hand and put the needle in her neck before anyone could change their minds.
Lydia started gasping and squeezing your hand. It was over quickly but she winced with every movement she made. Still, she managed to get dressed and stand through the elevator ride without complaint.
“Okay, I’ll get Malia,” Stiles said when you all stepped off the elevator. “Text me when you guys find Parrish.”
Scott handed Lydia off to you and rushed behind Stiles. “Hold on,” he said, pulling something out of his jacket and handing it to Stiles. The talons.
Lydia mumbled something and you tried to zone out of Scott and Stiles’ conversation to focus on her. You asked if she was okay as you and Liam kept walking with her to the parking lot. You hadn’t gotten much further by the time Scott and Stiles finished, but when they were done Stiles came rushing up to you guys. He pressed a quick kiss to your temple and you made him promise to be safe.
You couldn’t help but laugh as he dashed off again, and you caught Lydia smiling at you when you were done. “What?”
“I told you when you got back that he was crazy about you,” she said, voice barely there.
You rolled your eyes and nudged her lightly as you walked. “Let’s get through tonight and then you can tell me you told me so all you want, okay?”
---
The electricity crackled through the tunnels as the four of you raced around trying to find the Beast. It was concerning, but everything in these tunnels was concerning. And wet. One of the pipes must have burst but you couldn’t hear a leak anywhere.
“Scott?” Liam whispered as he came to a stop. “Do you hear that?”
“I heard that,” Lydia said.
“Lydia, save your voice,” Scott told her.
Liam looked down at the ground. He lifted his foot and the water sloshed around him. “Hey … Lydia, get out of here!” He shoved Lydia out of the puddle as electricity coursed through the water.
Up until then, you’d never been electrocuted. It felt like something was eating away at your insides, burning you up from the inside out. And if that wasn't enough, Liam and Scott were screaming which made it impossible to focus on anything.
Theo stepped out of the shadows, said sorry to Lydia, and then picked her up and threw her down one of the shafts in the tunnel. You scrambled to get closer but it was like there were needles in each of your muscles. Scott barely got there in time to catch her. Then Theo sank his claws into Scott.
“Feel that, Scott?” Theo asked. “Kanima venom.” He killed Tracy. There’s no other way he could have her power. And if he was the one that electrocuted you, then Josh was dead too. “Just let it happen. Let it go.”
You reached down to get Lydia but your arm was too short. You were half hanging down the empty shaft to reach her. Theo kicked you out of the way and you almost fell in.
“Let everything go.”
“No!” Scott yelled. His grip had to be fading by now. Lydia was screaming as she struggled.
And then she fell.
The Beast growled in the distance as Theo straightened himself out. “You hear that?” he asked. “That’s the sound of real power.”
Your heart raced as Theo left. You couldn’t think. Lydia wasn’t supposed to get hurt. You scrambled over to Scott to make sure he was okay but it didn’t feel right.
“Scott, I need to find her,” you said. “She- she’s not like us. She could be dead.”
“Go,” Scott said. “Liam and I will handle Theo. You need to go find Lydia, alright?”
You mustered up a nod as you got to your feet. “Alright.”
You started running but everything in the tunnels looked the same. Frustratingly, you realized you might have had a better chance at finding Lydia if you’d jumped down the damn grate that Theo pushed her down. You were about to give up and your search and give that plan a try when you caught her scent. It was mingled with fear, but that only made it stronger.
You had to be right on top of Lydia when you saw someone coming out of the shadows. You threw them against the wall without thinking, and then they pinned you and pressed a blade to your throat.
“Nice sword,” you said a little breathlessly.
Kira smiled as she let go of you. “Thanks. Sorry, I’m a little late.”
“You’re right on time.” Something pounded a little further down the tunnel and you shared a look. “I’m saving Lydia. Do you want to help or find Scott?”
“Help first. Boyfriend later,” Kira said with a nod. The two of you ran to the door that Lydia was hitting and Kira cut it straight off the hinges before you had the chance to do anything. She smiled at a very freaked out looking Lydia. “Sorry, I’m late.”
“I’m just glad you made it,” Lydia said. Her voice was getting stronger. It gave you hope.
With renewed energy, you grabbed Lydia’s hand and the three of you started running through the tunnels. It was easier to find the others this time; you were stronger when you had your friends with you. Plus, once you were close enough, it was easier to track them by sound than by scent. The others could hear them too so you didn’t have to stop as much to pull them in the right direction.
You got there just as Scott fell to the floor, blood dripping down his neck.
It took Lydia a moment to catch her breath. The cortisone shot must have been wearing off by now. “Mason?” Her voice was stronger than before but all it did was get Sebastien’s attention.
Sebastien turned to face her and scowled. He started walking closer, each step echoing off the tunnel walls.
“I think you’re gonna need to try it a little louder,” Kira said, reaching for Lydia's hand and backing up slightly.
Sebastien’s eyes started glowing as he stalked closer. The shadows wrapped around him, and he started transforming into the Beast when Lydia took a breath and steadied herself.
When she opened her mouth again, it didn't sound like her banshee scream. It ricocheted in your skull all the same, but this was focused. Under the weight of her voice, the Beast started to crumble. The shadows appeared once more and then Mason fell through. The only reason he didn’t hit the floor was that Corey materialized to catch him at the last second.
But there were still shadows.
The Beast wasn’t materializing like it used to. Instead, it was wailing as it drifted through the tunnels. You thought it was going to disappear when Parrish managed to grab hold of it.
Scott got himself together and threw the cane at the Beast like a javelin.
The second the metal pierced the shadows, the shrieking got louder. The Beast was engulfed in blue-white light, being torn apart from the inside out, until Parrish stood alone in the tunnel. His flames went out.
“Is everyone okay?” Scott asked as everyone caught their breath.
“Not everyone!” Theo growled. He was covered in electricity, and he was pissed.
“Jesus Christ, what is it gonna take for you to die?” you asked, storming closer and shifting. There was no way you were going to let another one of your friends get hurt because of him.
Theo had other plans. He gathered all his electricity in his hand and shot a bolt of lightning at you. It probably would have killed you if Kira hadn’t jumped in front of you and used her sword to absorb the power.
“The Skinwalkers have a message for you, Theo,” she said, sounding more sure of herself than you'd ever heard before. The electricity stopped as Theo faltered. “Your sister wants to see you.”
Kira shoved her sword - still glowing from the lightning - into the ground. The concrete cracked in harsh lines towards Theo before opening up at his feet. Two very demonic looking hands clawed their way out of the hole and Tara stood up.
It was eerily silent as she grabbed at him and started pulling him down. The silence was broken by Theo’s screams.
“Scott, help me!” He grabbed at the concrete as his sister pulled him under. “No! No! Scott, help me! Please!”
And then he disappeared. The ground closed up behind him.
“Woah,” you whispered. Sure, you were ready to kill him a minute ago, but now that he was gone … your heart broke a little bit. He sounded so scared at the end. You forced yourself to remember all the awful things he’d done and the fact that he was going to kill you, too, to keep from crying. Instead of unpacking all those emotions, you said. “I hate this place. Can someone give me a ride to check on Malia and Stiles?”
---
“It’s not that bad.”
“You had glass in your chest.”
“I got better.”
“You’re lucky we’re in a hospital so I can’t kick your ass.”
“Oh, I’d like to see you try,” Stiles said, throwing his empty jello cup in the trash can a few feet away. “Physically, yeah, you could totally kick my ass. But emotionally? That’ll wreck you.”
“You might have a point,” you said begrudgingly as you fixed his blankets. There was a bandage just above his heart, poking out of the hospital gown. You forced yourself to stop staring at it and look him in the eye. “Plus, then I’d have to break in another boyfriend and that would be a real hassle.”
“Please, you could have house trained Liam in the time it took for us to go out on a date,” Stiles said as he rolled his eyes. He smiled as you laughed at his bad joke, taking your hand in his and holding it against his chest. You’d have given anything to know exactly what he was thinking.
But telepathy wasn’t one of your powers, and that look on his face was making you irrationally nervous. You’d known that face all your life. You’d been dating that face for almost a year. That face had no business making you nervous.
“You know, the winter formal is coming up,” you blurted out. You had near-instantaneous regrets, but you couldn’t stop yourself. “Your back and chest should be healed by then and even if they’re not-”
Stiles made no attempt to hide the annoyingly smug grin on his face. “Are you asking me to the winter formal?”
“No,” you said defensively. You pulled your hand back and started picking at your nails. After having Stiles watch you squirm for an uncomfortable amount of time, you added, “I mean … do you want to go? To the formal, I mean.”
“God, no. I hate parties,” Stiles said. You felt ready to crawl into a hole and die. Of course, he didn’t want to go - school dances were a socially anxious nightmare. “But-” Stiles reached out for your hands and pulled them away from your face “-I would love to go to the dance with you. Assuming you’re asking me to go with you.”
You were quiet as you looked at him. While Stiles was still riding the high of making you nervous, he was being sincere. He’d go to the dance if you wanted to. “Really?” you asked quietly.
“Really,” Stiles repeated with a smile. He ran his thumbs across your hands gently. “You wanna go to the winter formal?”
“With you?”
“With me.”
You pretended to think about it for a moment. “You’ll get me a corsage that matches the flower in your lapel?”
Stiles leaned in as much as he could without hurting his chest. “I’ll even wear a tie,” he said.
You leaned in and gave him a quick kiss. “Then it’s a date.”

Haven DVD commentaries: 5.15 - Power
5.15 Commentary with Adam Higgs and Speed Weed (writers for this episode and the next episode)
SW: By the time anyone’s listening to this, we’ll both be writing on different shows. But we can’t tell you which ones yet. Not the same show as each other sadly. AH: Yeah that was a shame. But we will one day in the future, I have a good feeling about that. However for Haven stuff, I think the thing here was, we were trying to reboot the show in a way. SW: That’s right. AH: 514 is the start of the season, or of season 5 part B, but these two episodes [515 and 516] really encompass the new world order. SE: That’s right, they define the world after the shroud is down. Did we call it the shroud in the show? AH: The shroud, yeah. That’s actually a good point because we spent a lot of time talking about what the shroud was going to be called. I can’t remember the other names we thought about, but we went back and forth for a long time. SW: And we talked about what we called it - because often there’s a handle that you use in the room for what you’re talking about, and then you have to remember, did you actually put the same term in an actor’s mouth so that the world inside the show knows what it’s called? AH: My favourite is when you don’t realise that. On another show I did that, it was in the edit that I was like; Oh have we ever mentioned that that’s what that’s called? And going through scripts we realised that no; no we did not - OK, let’s ADR some stuff in.
AH: So this was fun. We’re both fans of The Walking Dead, and we got to do a Haven kind of version of The Walking Dead, or of them just trying to survive. It’s not the Trouble of the Week things so much, it’s … SW: It’s Haven’s version of a post-apocalyptic world, it’s true. These episodes were directed by Rick Bota who also direct 9 and 10 that Adam and I also wrote, so it was good to work with him again.
[Dwight and Nathan talk outside the school] AH: So here we get to see that time has passed since we last saw everyone in 514 and we spent a lot of time making sure that everyone had their own intro so we could showcase how things have changed. And a lot of this episode is about putting strain on these episodes and just seeing how everyone reacts to this post-apocalyptic kind of situation they’re in
SW: There’s Tony, he becomes a bigger character in the next episode. AH: Yeah we spent a lot of time seeding a lot of things. And we shot these episodes in between our set move. So, for other other seasons we shot up until October, or earlier than that even? And everything was shot on our sound stages in Chester. And then this year, half way through the season everything got moved up to Halifax, because of hockey. SW: That’s right. We shot on a hockey rink in Chester. Really anything that has a lot of space and a tall ceiling can be a sound stage for a television show - if it’s quiet outside, if there’s no noise from the street coming in. *pause for the break*
[Duke driving to work in Halifax] AH: This is actually Halifax, this bridge here. SW: That’s right, and I think this is actually one of the first scenes we shot in Halifax. Oh no, we shot that later. AH: Yeah this was shot quite a bit after. And here we’ve got our wonderful mechanic here played by William MacDonald. I worked with William on an episode of Republic of Doyle, so I was happy when I saw him in the auditions for this, and he did a great job. He just has that look, that imposing feel.
SW: So anyway, the people in Chester wanted their hockey rink back, so when we got a 26 epsiode order (seasons 5A and 5B) we had to move sets at this point as we were shooting. And the reason these episodes take place almost entirely in the school (this storyline [Duke in Halifax] excepted) is because all of our standing sets were being taken down in one place and being put up in another. So you’ll see in later episodes those sets coming back AH: We slowly start to see the sets getting put back up. But these scenes with Duke in Halifax were shot after - well after - because we had to shoot everything in the school for this whole block.
[As Duke is leaving his voicemail to Monty talking about the kind of job he’s looking for] SW: What do you do when you’re responsible for having given Troubles to thousands of people? AH: Go to disneyland. But no, that is exactly what we were trying to figure out here - what happens to Duke? After the explosion how does everyone pick up the pieces and move on?
AH: And another goal for these episodes was trying to get the characters to an interesting place, or a place we can build off of. And the relationship between Audrey and Charlotte was an important one to build (over this and the next couple of episodes) to see if we could get them to a place where they can trust each other. Because it’s like Speed said, what do you do after you gave everyone Troubles? What do you do when you find out that this woman that you’ve been missing your whole life [your mother] has been an obstacle for you for the last couple episodes? How do you respond to that? And we do try really hard on this show to create some level of reality, maybe not in terms of the supernatural, but at least in the emotions characters have.
SW: The other thing that was a challeng early in the design of these episodes, and it was really cool talking through with Adam in the room, was how we got a super deadly - oh I should pause, people are psyched about this kiss [Nathan’s and Audrey’s ‘I like the view’ moment], enjoy the kiss. AH: This hasn’t aired yet, I just realised. And I’ve been waiting to see the Twitter response to these kisses, because we ramp up that lovefest, in these two episodses especially. And there’s some really powerful scenes in 516. SW: It’s true. Or I should say, I believe you. I’ve actually forgotten what happens in 516. You know we do have a portion of fans who are not on Team Naudrey. We have a portion of fans who are rapid Duke/Audrey lovers.
SW: So, we really worked hard to design a Trouble that was super-deadly, and really scary, and didn’t require any production budget. So we talked a long time about the darkness, like - when you were in the dark a monster would come and eat you, but then we thought you’d have to produce something for that. So it became just the darkness itself. AH: And we even talked later about whether there would be a sound cue or not a sound cue. SW: Sound is cheap. AH: Yes, but this was a good one. We went back and forth on what to make this look like. And you’ll see some of that production-friendly magic throughout these two episodes. But the darkness I think worked well in just keeping everyone scared. Because it’s kind of human nature to be afraid of the dark.
[Dwight giving his banishment speech to the assembled crowd in the school hall] AH: We got to give Adam Copeland some cool stuff to do, and just showing where Dwight would go if you pushed him to the edge. And I’ll admit, we went further with Dwight in the early drafts. Dwight was Ned Stark in the early drafts, and he was a little bit more complicit in some executions. But we looked at the character and had to pull back a bit on that, I was a little zealous there, I think it was good to pull back. SW: Well you had The Walking Dead in mind, you know. But the truth is ultimately, we’re not that show. We are more heartfelt and lighter, and we protect our characters.
[Nathan discussing his trip down Trouble Alley, and Audrey pointing out cell phones don’t work.] AH: Cell phones. SW: We talked a lot about cell phones. AH: We did, we talked about whether or not we wanted them to be able to use cell phones, or not to use cell phones, could cell phones work that way? SW: Could they get through the shroud? Well, we knew they couldn’t get through the shroud AH: How did the shroud work when it came to people outside? There were a lot of rules that we inside the room spent a lot of time discussing how things would work.
[As Nathan is telling Audrey who he’s taking with him to the power plant, and the camera cuts away to show those people, and Vince and Dave’s argument] AH: Speed, I have to give you big props for pushing with the intercut here, because it’s not something we usually do on this show. And you really encouraged me to push it further and I think it ended up working really well. SW: Well you did have the instincts to do that, and TV now can really jump all over the place and audiences follow it. Haven has typically followed a pretty standard way of story telling. But, for film students out there, this started (and we’re now back to) a conversation between Nathan and Audrey, that cuts forwards to a walking shot [of the group coming up to Trouble Alley], that cuts back to a flashback of Dave and Vince, and then comes back to the overarching narrative [Nathan and Audrey’s conversation]. You’re following that as you watch it, but it is - at least to the tastes of this show - a risky re-arrangement of time. AH: It looks good though. SW: And it’s very efficient story telling. You can get more story in in less time. AH: We did get very efficient on this show, I have to say.
[Vince and Dwight’s conversation in the office about the batteries] AH: This relationship was a lot of fun. And it was great to build it, and talking to Adam Copeland about it, he really thinks of the character, of Dwight, that Vince is his dad so to speak. When he’s thinking about how to play a scene really works in that kind of structure.
SW: To be clear, in case we got confusing before, Trouble Alley has no cell phones working. Cell phones work within the school, and around town inside the shroud, except for Trouble Alley where - did we explain it, I can’t remember, but there’s some kind of electromagnetic Trouble there. AH: Yeah and EMP kind of Trouble that’s knocking out a lot of the power.
AH: This episode moves a quite a clip. And again we’re back here in Halifax. SW: Actual Halifax. And here is Hailie. AH: Hailie, played by Tamara Duarte. SW: She just had a spot on audition. I think Shawn Pillar, our executive producer director, knew her, and she delivered a tape that was just perfect. We needed somebody who was broken and hard, and yet also vulnerable which is not easy to do. And she’s a young actress. AH: And she can sell stuff so well with expression, that’s one of the things she brought to this. And this character ends up growing. We originally only had her in these two episodes [515 and 516] but then she becomes integral to the story. And that was interesting because we hadn’t actually shot these scenes yet - as we were talking about earlier, the Duke scenes were shot much later than the rest of the episode - so we had to go back and change things a little bit to make sure it lined up with the mythology that we were putting in to the show to pay off in epsiodes like 21, 22, 23. It was interesting. SW: And we designed her Trouble before we thought how we were going to use her later (to phase through the shroud). But it was kind of cool, we essentially took a tool that we’d built off the shelf, instead of designing it specifically. SW: I love the story Matt McGuinness tells about when he was in Vegas with some of his friends from Franklin & Bash on a retreat there. And they were getting into a hotel van to go down town for dinner or something like that. So they’re this goupr of 50 year old men, and in climbs a group of good looking 50 year old women who were there for some sort of party. And they get to talking and flirting. So it’s like; What do you do? Oh we write for TV, Franklin & Bash. And that drops like a lead balloon; nobody cares. So Matt says; Well actually I write for Haven - and they all light up. And one woman says to Matt; You know what I love about Haven - it’s so complicated, but I know that you guys have everything absolutely planned out right from the beginning, so even though it feels confusing at times, I feel safe in your hands. AH: *laughing* What did Matt say to that? SW: He nodded and said; You’re right. And then he came back and told us that story. And, it’s just not true folks, I’m sorry. We are scrambling at every moment to figure it out. I think we do. AH: I think we do. That’s the thing, we make it work. Unlike other shows (nothing against them) we do take pains to make sure that if we set it up, we fix it, we make sure it works. We sometimes spend long days on getting that stuff to work.
[As Nathan is about to take the group into Trouble Alley] AH: I do enjoy this bunch of ragtag misfits working together. SW: Notice, another invisible Trouble. That’s a crew member with a wire in their hand; that’s cheap. AH: But if you’re wondering what I think it looks like, I’ve always thought of it as like Godzilla, a smaller version of Godzilla. SW: Cool! AH: Just invisible.
[As Charlotte gets her foot caught] AH: Oh, and again, talking about The Walking Dead transitions, Nathan in the original draft was super dark here where instead of saving Charlotte, Nathan basically blackmails her freedom in exchange for information. SW: Right, it was jumping up a wall originally, and he was only going to pull her up if she gave up the information about the aether. Whereas here now she offers it because she’s in trouble. AH: So I think it was a good note to pull back on that, but again it was just getting into that head space of Game of Thrones, Walking Dead.
[Duke on the phone to the bank who refuse to recognise the existence of Haven.] AH: And again here we are putting in some rules of the shroud, how does it work with memory, what do people of think of Haven, that are outside of the shroud. SW: Yeah, important for the rest of the season. AH: And are these - yes they are, the first episodes to really start Duke on this journey of him walking the earth. SW: Oh yeah for sure. Last episode he was in Haven. AH: And that plays out for quite a while. SW: Yeah he’s out of town for a while.
[Nathan and the others arriving at the smashed up Herald] AH: This scene I felt was important, just to show how the world has changed so much for everyone. You know, no one is safe. And it’s not just Troubles, there’s looters and stuff where the Troubles have set off a fuse, but at the end of it is just crime and everything. SW: And very poignant that it’s Dave here in the Teagues home, because for most of the series they were the keeper of the secrets. If everyone else was confused, they knew what was going on. And then a little bit in season 4 it started getting out of their hands , and then certainly in season give they are way out of their depth. And this their vault of secrets has been affected.
[As Charlotte is telling Nathan that aether might help her solve the Troubles AH: Here we had to be very specific about this receipe for success and how it would work.
[Dwight to Audrey; It’s easy making choices from the side lines] AH: This is the ‘heavy is the head that wears the crown’ aspect
[As we see the power plant] AH: This was actually a power plant SW: Yeah it’s so cool. Very unusual looking place. AH: So that was neat that we were able to get an actual power plant with the turbines and everything. I will say for myself, that I am not mechanically inclined at all. So there was a lot of help from the room in figuring out how electricity works. And this is Kira Fletcher, this is our third Fletcher that we’ve used on this show.
AH: It was nice to get everybody in the dirty clothes and everything too. And they wore it all well.
[As Nathan takes the wires from Kira] AH: That’s the other thing, in these episodes I really wanted to make Nathan as active as possible. He’s trying his best to put this genie back in the bottle. And just every time he tries to do something good it seems to backfire. SW: Well, it’s sort of the theme of the show; No good deed goes unpunished. AH: And we’re going to see that with Duke right here.
[As Hailie is asking Duke about her mom’s ‘superpower’ AH: And again, a lot of this story we had put in here, and we didn’t have to alter it when we came up with the fix or the solution or the mythology for 21, 22, 23. SW: Well and episode 20 as well. AH: Yeah, her mom is seeded in right there. SW: If you haven’t seen it yet, epsiode 20, Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn wrote a retro Haven episode that features Hailie’s mom. AH: And I remember there was talk about using Tamara to play Hailie’s mom. But I don’t think we did that in the end.
[As Duke and Hailie finish their conversation outside the garage] AH: Oh, somebody listening in. SW: 26B, is that what Matt calls it? AH: Yeah, 26B SW: Matt’s code for someone overhearing.
AH: This was fun with Charlotte as a character where she comes from another world that’s much more advanced, so she’s not a mechanic, she’s not an engineer by trade, but our technology is so simple to her. SW: It’s like playing with a paperclip to her. There’s a word that we use all the time in the room that isn’t actually in the show; Arcadians. Just to ourselves, Charlotte and Mara and her father are Arcadians. And William.
[As Audrey finds Vince with Rolf’s body, the latest victim of the No Marks Killer] AH: And this was some heavy mythology to drop as well. There is a lot going on in this episode! SW: Yeah it’s really the season premiere AH: It was nice to bring the Teagues back into the main cast. They’ve been out on an island almost, having their own plot and learning a lot of stuff that was very important. But it was nice to bring them back so that they’re interacting again with Audrey and Nathan, and Dwight. SW: And they do well when they’re holding secrets. They’re built for that.
AH: Eric Cayla, our Director of Photography, did some great work with darkness and shadows in this episode. [Audrey; Did they force you to do this? Because I can get you out.] AH: And there’s that Audrey compassion that’s going to play a big role in 17 SW: We like to, on this show to set up things, especially as it’s become more serialised. And with that litle line there, Audrey just sealed her fate for episode 17, or the end of 16. AH: Yeah, that was another one, like we talked about with 9 and 10, where the ending moved back and forth.
[Dave to Charlotte; Is there anything I can do to help? Back rub? Water?] SW: *laughing: Oh Adam. You have a way of getting humour in. That’s just terrific AH: *also laughing* I remember there was some debate though about that ‘back rub’ if he was coming on to her. And I was just like: No, no - he’s just in an awkward situation and doesn’t know what to do. Being an awkward person myself, that’s coming from real experience.
AH: And this was great work by the art department on these power schematics. It really helped tell the story.
[people in the school fighting over a flashlight] AH: Chaos! And this is again that post-apocalyptic landscape [Dwight; Alright everyone take a deep breath SW: That’s what I say to my kids when they throw tantrums AH: But not the rest of the speech. And this just shows how Dwight has elevated in the eyes of the town.He really is the leader. So interesting where you started with this character and where he ends.
[As Nathan and Kira find the mine shaft where the aether seems to be] AH: So we were talking this through, if this is where William’s stash of aether is held, our idea behind it is that he stashed it in a natural cave or underground area, geological formation of some kind SW: Like 500 years ago AH: And then things were built over it. It’s not that William went there when that building was built and buried it there. SW: Right, just to line up with the backstory that William and Mara were trapsing round New Engliand in the 1500s.
[Mechanic on screen; I looked you up Hailie Colton] AH: Oh I remember we didn’t have a last name for her initially. We had to go back and add that in.
[Duke runs the mechanic over and drives through Hailie] AH: Yes, Duke knew that was going to happen. He was not trying to kill Hailie. And props to Shawn and Rick for blocking this, it was not the easiest scene to block - a lot of moving pieces.
[As Audrey is packing a bag to go look for Nathan] AH: And here we were trying to have a nice mother/daughter moment SW: Yeah you did a great job. The slow arc of getting them together. AH: I think that’s the other thing we tried to do with these episodes is re-establish that anything could happen. That this is a new world order, bad stuff, people are dying. And it could be one of our characters. SW: Yeah we talked about where to end this episode and start the next one [The implication being they considered ending the episode before Nathan gets back, and so with the suggestion that he is actually dead] AH: I think a lot of these background extras here [as Nathan arrives in the hall full of people] were comped in. SW: They had 300 extras on the day AH: Was it 300? Maybe they weren’t then, maybe it was all practical.
AH: Thank you for listening SW: We’ll see you on 16

“A Snowball’s Chance” by: @cosette141
Okay, so I am late to the party on this one - I know it’s been posted a little while, and it shouldn’t take me so long to read one shots by fave authors, but sometimes I just fall behind.
Anyway, this lovely missing moment fic would easily fit into the 5b plot and it allows some amazing and feels-y bonding between Killian and Snowing after Emma finds him in the Underworld. It could also go into @cosette141 ‘s longer MC “Hell to Pay” (which you should also check out) but it’s lovely all on its own. Especially if you like hurt/comfort fic as much as I do and wanted more taking care of Killian once he was found than the show gave us in that arc...
Anyway, it already has it’s own great art, so I’m posting it with the link below. Don’t miss this one if you haven’t had the chance to read it yet!!!

thank you for sharing the trading card! so much to try and figure out! why the flames? what could the stick thing in the left and right border be? almost looks like a golf club. does the back ground have a dark side behind daryl and light side behind rick--or is it just that way in the photo? it does look like daryl is about to drop beth, but it seems strange that rick is only using one arm to help--if i was going to grab someone to help both arms would come up. strange. and, yes, why NOW :)
Sure thing! Glad you liked it. I’ll do my best to answer your questions in order.
Tumblr media
1. Of course we can link the flames to the burning of the moonshine shack, which would be representative of them both. But overall, I think the flames are mostly about Daryl. The name of the card is “Catastrophic” and I think it represents his hopes for the future burning down. 😭
2. I’m not sure what stick think you’re referring to. I don’t see it. What I do see is a quarter portion of a circle or wheel in both bottom corners. It’s just a shad ow or imprint, and part of the trading card’s frame rather than part of the actual picture of Beth/Daryl/Rick. That could be indicative of a wheel and this story line eventually coming back around again.
3. About the dark and light? I think it’s both. On one hand, the right side of the picture is naturally lighter in color. We have light green shrubs and the tan-colored bricks of the hospital, where behind Daryl is naturally in shadow rather than sunlight, and therefore has darker lighting. But I also notice that they put in an effect that’s supposed to make it look like the picture is tattered and fading. And there’s definitely more “white” tatters by Rick and more “black” tatters by Daryl. So I think they enhanced the natural lighting purposely. It could represent Beth and Daryl’s black and white theme. It could also simply be indicative of the negative state of mind Daryl entered when he lost Beth. Probably both.
4. Interesting point about Rick only using one hand. Perhaps that shows that he really is just steadying Daryl, not attempting to fully help him or take Beth from him. On the other hand, this is a frozen moment in time. So it could be that he does use both hands to help Daryl, but this was simply taken right before he did that. No way to tell.
I’d like to add one other observation that I totally missed before: the red machete. Rick is wearing it on his hip and it’s displayed pretty prominently in this picture. Even if we didn’t know what we know, I would say having it in this shot means it is going to play a prominent roll in the story moving forward, which it obviously did. And this was long before The Red Machete mini-series aired. Since there are only three characters in this shot, I would say it specifically points to the red machete playing a big role in one of their future arcs.
In terms of Rick and Daryl, has it played a big role since Coda? Not really. Obviously it was big in the Termite story line, but that happened before this. Rick wore it for a while in 5b, but in S6, it was taken out of Alexandria by the Saviors, and neither Rick nor Daryl have it anymore. So it didn’t do much except kill some walkers after Coda.

Meanwhile, in The Red Machete series, someone picked it up, and it definitely wasn’t Rick or Daryl. Just saying. 😉
5. As for why now, I think we’re all in agreement for why we HOPE they’re releasing this now. And 10b is coming at us quickly. (Yea! 🎉)
Hope that helps, Nonny! Xoxo! 😍

Nygmobblepot Notes
There’s no denying that Gotham’s final episode could have been better, but honestly? Knowing Fox, it could have been a hell of a lot worse too. ‘The Beginning…’ is bittersweet, and for a few moments, I almost thought we were about to get flashbacks to them rebuilding Gotham, which would have been amazing to see if we’d gotten a season 5b.
Anyway! Were we fed? Sort of. I feel like Gotham gave us enough sustenance to work off of, especially with what they left in for us. There’s not a lot to mention, but there’s enough. Such as;
Ed’s little gasp at finding out Oswald was getting released from Blackgate
How Ed clutched the letter he thought was from Oswald to his chest in relief at believing he had been the one to get him out (Ecco knows how Oswald writes, and how to forge his handwriting)
Without questioning it, Ed gets all dolled up and follows the orders of his ‘old friend’ (this also means Ecco designed his shimmery iconic look)
Ed kidnaps Mayor James and straps a bomb to him (again) with no questions asked, all in the name of Oswald. This is devotion for someone he hasn’t seen in ten years
His shock and confusion are genuine when Jim tells him that Oswald wasn’t the one who broke him out
Oswald is just about containing himself when the other is manhandled into his limo
The soft breathy way Ed says Oswald
They’re both just so gleeful to see each other again, sitting inches apart
Oswald probably notices that Ed is more slender than the last time they saw each other
Ed definitely notices Oswald’s new stoutness, but he can’t keep his eyes from lingering (apparently Mr Green likes his Penguin thicc)
Look how they leaned in, they would have kissed if the caped cockblocker hadn’t literally put a dent in their plans
Ed throwing his arm in front of Oswald as if to shield him from their new enemy
Bruce ships them. He could have just knocked them out and tied them to the base of the lamppost, but no, he suspended them from it, meaning they were probably waiting a good half an hour and had time to catch up
Ed humouring Oswald as he picks their cuffs, because he knows it’s the easiest way to pacify his ruffled bird in order for him to work
A leap of faith together
Planning on dealing with the Bat together… Tomorrow that is
Off they go to get reacquainted with each other
Alright, so it isn’t quite what we were hoping for, but there’s still a lot here to work with! They both clearly missed each other, but if Ed wasn’t even allowed to read the paper, he certainly wasn’t allowed any letters to read, otherwise he wouldn’t have been so shocked at Oswald’s release.
There’s also the missing scene that a lot of us wanted to see, the very possible Martin scene that was either never fully shot or cut from the script. I think most likely it was cut out, considering the photos show the pin-striped mystery man with a bowler hat and an umbrella, two things Oswald and Ed are missing in their breakout scene but appear in their last scene.

Dutch Comic Con meet and greet
I’d been delaying this one, sorry about that, I’ve had way too little time. I’ve been way too busy with overtime at work.
But since it’s weekend, and almost a week since the con.
Now I’ve already made a post on the Q&A (here), though I forgot to mention one or two things, like how Tyler was asked if he’d had a choice, which character other than Scott, that he would have wanted to play on Teen Wolf.
Answer being Derek ;-)
He also talked about what a great dramatic actor he thought Dylan was, and how the two of them are still friends. That often they separate themselves from a crowd just to talk and share what they’ve been going through.
One of the things I noticed about the Q&A is what a natural entertainer Tyler is. He never sits still, and he keeps everything lighthearted and fun. Or how he meandered on the inspiration question.
Now admittedly, my memory is killing me, and I keep mixing up things he said in the Q&A and the meet and greet, so my apologies in advance if I do so. It’s why I probably should have made this post sooner, but ah well..
Now on to the meet and greet.
I’ll admit, I’d never before done one of those. So since I didn’t know what to expect, I’d looked things up online. I figured it’d be a line and getting to talk to him for a moment and then he’d move on to the next. (that actually ended up being the autograph line)
What it really was, is that we were taken to a separate private room near the VIP area. A place with nice comfy seats and one chair in the middle. And then a crew member told us the rules, you know, no taking pictures, no getting out your phone to record anything,  no asking questions about Tyler’s personal life, that if the convo got stuck, she’d try and help it get going again. Things like that. And then they brought Tyler in, and we got to talk to him for half an hour, no interruptions...
This would have already been amazing under normal circumstances. Normally these things are for about twenty people, But as I mentioned in my previous post... Tyler had only been announced five days before the con.
Now keep in mind that the tickets for these cost 200€.
That’s not a small amount for anyone to find, esp. in less than a week to think it over. Or with people who do have the money, finding the time to come to Utrecht for it, and be at the con. (and there were two of those meet and greets a day on a two day con)
End result being, there were two of us who’d paid for those tickets in the room with Tyler.
Me and bohentastic (she mentioned it on her twitter, not sure if she has a tumblr)
Now she’s apparantly more used to these things, but as I said, this was the first time I ever took part in one of those meet and greets (and honestly there’s currently only two people I’d pay that kind of money for, Tyler Posey, and Jensen Ackles), so I was nervous as hell, and when I get nervous I get talky, often embarrassingly so.
(which is why I was grateful that there was at least one other person, so I didn’t scare off poor Tyler entirely ;-) )
Now Bohentastic was wearing a shirt from a band called WSTR. I didn’t know the band before, but the fact she wore that shirt, had Tyler totally excited cause he loves that band. (she pretty much made his day)
he’d already started singing one of their songs for her at the autograph line, though at the time he didn’t quite get it right yet.
aka this song:
youtube
(which really makes me want to make a teen wolf vid with it, but that left aside)
Thankfully he’s used to people like me being over the top nervous.
Anyway, one of us, not sure if it was me or Bohentastic asked about his new music, since Five North currently has only one song out. And he let us listen two two of the bands unreleased songs that he was really excited about, and that should get released soon.
I got to say, I liked those songs better than I did the PVMNTS ones. But that might be my taste in music. And I can’t wait for them to be released :-)
He also talked about why he left PVMNTS, said that it was a disagreement on what they wanted out of the band. He wanted to try new things, and his friends disagreed, and there was a constant ‘no’ going on, whenever he suggested doing something other than the style the band already had.
With the new band he gets to experiment more, try new things, new styles, and from what I got to hear of the songs, they’re definitely worth it.
Now before the meeting, I kept reminding myself, ‘do not talk about my dislike of Stiles’, so of course, after two days of telling myself this, I of course just had to mention that I’m one of the few people in fandom that  utterly can’t stand Stiles... (sometimes my mouth is faster than my brain, or common sense)
He found it amusing and when I said it’s cause Stiles irritates the hell out of me, he told me that Dylan would apparently love that. (I leave it to you to take it as him amusing me on that one ;-) )
I mentioned some of my views on the show, mostly why I love Scott, how unique I feel that Scott is. And how different Scott is from your average protagonist.
See, most protagonists are pretty generic, they’re generally characters like Derek, or the every man like Stiles. They fit stereotypical tropes, and you see them in every show out there.  (aka the broody guy or the sarcastic funny guy)
Scott’s not like that. Scott is kind, determined sure, but he listens to others. (he just doesn’t always do what people tell him to when he disagrees with what they want to do (esp to others)) Also Scott utterly and totally lacks toxic masculinity.
Scott doesn’t try to control others, he’s not brave for the sake of being brave, and his focus is on healing, taking care of others, rather than on violence or taking out the bad guys. He likes to talk things out instead of fight whenever possible.
And chars like that are far too rare, especially in today’s climate.
I was just glad that I was able to tell Tyler this, and that he at least seemed to love that I actually got what they were trying to go for with Scott on the show.
We also talked on how dark s1 is and how it compared to s3b (ever notice how Scott in s1 goes through many of the same things Stiles goes through in 3b)
Bohentastic asked him about his tattoos, and he gave us a better look of them. And he talked about how he has a fave tattoo artist, and how he basically picks them based on what he likes, instead of trying to give meaning to every single tattoo. And how sometimes one spot will remain empty till he gets a new one. he also mentioned how they hurt, esp. apparantly ones on the wrist :-)
For the record, yes I talked too much, and I did try and check to make sure I wasn’t saying too much, cause I’m well aware of how over the top talky I get when nervous. Seems like Bohentastic has the opposite problem and talks less when nervous, after mentioning that, Tyler actually went to lie on the floor to make us less nervous, he’s so damn sweet.
I mentioned that I’m primarily a sceo and scerek shipper, and you know every other Scott ship, and he said he was all for it. My guess is that he’d have been all for bi Scott. Too bad the show didn’t go for it.
He also mentioned still being in touch with Gideon Emery, who played Deucalion, which awesome. (sceucalion is so one of my fave crack ships)
He would love to have had more scenes with Cody in s6b, though he did like the scenes between Cody and Dylan Sprayberry. (which he brought up with no prompt of mine) There was a short moment there, where he talked how Dylan was only 14 when he joined the cast, I said i thought he was 15, but I’m sure he knows better, since you know, he actually knows the guy.
We also talked on how the show was divided in 3a, 3b, 5a, 5b, 6a and 6b, so the producers didn’t have to pay the actors more. Cause now they were basically paid for six seasons, instead of the nine that we actually got.
He talked about Lost Boys, I mentioned how I was sorry it didn’t go to series, since I’d been interested in it, and it turns out he was actually not too happy with it. Seems like he felt the script was cheesy, he was told it was going to be funny though, since he gave it his best shot, but in the end, he felt he really didn’t want to play the character. So for him the fact it didn’t go to series was actually a good thing.
He also talked about ‘Alone’.  And how since there were so few actors on set, he wanted to make sure he wasn’t being an asshole on the set, cause if he had been, the entire mood on set would have sucked;
His new band will apparently also be touring in Europe, I mentioned hoping they’d come to Belgium as well, he said they might :-)
Probably missing a few things here, might add those later, but yeah, that was probably one of the best half hours of my life.
And not just because Tyler is even hotter in real life than he already is onscreen, and is the nicest guy ever.
Or because I get another two, or three hugs out of that meeting.
Or that he tried to sing that song again, and this time got it right, which he was so damn happy and excited about. I might have to listen to more of that band’s songs, since Tyler’s love for their music is infectious :-)
