Yeah, we had to reserve your fave's character development to fit them to their shipping partner, sorry. We had to sexualize or draw them with a famous shipping partner at any and every fanart/fic, sorry. We had to turn them into a cowardly, useless bitch even if they can use weapons or have powerful abilities in their canon, sorry. We had to portray them as a cruel, sadistic dick despite that's the opposite of their Canon personality, sorry. We had to turn them into a meek, anxious person despite them starting to find their confidence at the end of the series, sorry. We had to call them mean things and demonize them for showing their trauma and disorder symptoms in a non - uwufied way, sorry. We had to romanticize and uwufy them for showing the signs of trauma and mental illness in an "aesthetical" way, sorry. We had to label people who criticize snd call out these things Homophobic, Transphobic, ableist and P3do, sorry.

“I wonder what WoF Lego would be like” - Me, about to start cooking
I feel like they’d either make the dragons big collector sets, entirely brick built, make them normal minifigs, or make special molds for each tribe and just use different prints depending on the character.
I feel like the first wave of sets would likely be arc 1, since that makes the most sense.
anyhow. This is what I think wings of fire Lego sets could be like. I’ll probably do more in the future when I read more of the series. Don’t take these as 100% confirmed undeniable proof that Lego will make wings of fire sets.
ARC 1:
BOOK 1:
SET 1: Dragonet Cave Escape
Builds: The DoD cave, Table and shelf for scrolls, cave door
Minifigs: Kestrel, Dune, Clay, Tsunami and Starflight
Play features: the door would have the ability to open and close.
SET 2: Skywing Arena
Builds: Skywing Arena Pillar, Arena Balcony, Glory’s fake tree and Scarlet’s throne.
Minifigs: Queen Scarlet, Peril, Clay, Tsunami, Gill, Glory, Princess Burn, and 3x unnamed Skywings
Play feature: Scarlet’s throne would have a mechanism that knocks her off of it.
The unnamed Skywings would have spears.
BOOK 2:
SET 1: Royal Hatchery
Builds: Royal Hatchery, Orca’s Statue, Hatchery Doors.
Minifigs: Tsunami, Orca’s Statue.
Includes a printed egg piece to represent Auklet’s egg, and a spear for Tsunami. The statue can be removed from its base.
SET 2: The Summer Palace
Builds: The Summer Palace, tables, shelves.
Minifigs: Tsunami, Queen Coral, Anemone, Riptide, Commander Shark, Whirlpool, Princess Blister, 5x unnamed Seawings.
Play features: Each floor is removable, allowing for easier access to play with minifigures.
Two of the unnamed Seawings would have spears. Whirlpool would have a 1x2 flat plate with a scroll printed on it. Coral would have a double-sided head. One side is a calm face, and the other an angry face.
BOOK 3:
SET 1: The Rainwing Village
Builds: A large platform, plants and hammocks. The Queen’s Throne Room
Minifigs: Glory, Mangrove, Queen Magnificent, Tamarin, Jambu, Liana, Mango, Grandeur, Bromeliad.
SET 2: Blaze’s Fortress + Enchanted Tunnel
Builds: Blaze’s Fortress, Enchanted Tunnel
Minifigs: Blaze, Mangrove, Glory, Deathbringer, 1x unnamed icewing, 2x unnamed sandwings
Play features: The enchanted tunnel would have a play feature where you can put a minifig inside, turn a piece on the top, and the minifig would spin around to the other side.
The tunnel, on one side, would be rainforest terrain, with plants, and sand and rock on the other.
SET 3: Volcano Tunnel Builds: The Volcano Tunnel + Rainwing prison.
Minifigs: Glory, Kinkajou, Orchid, Deathbringer, 2x unnamed Nightwings. Play features: The prison’s back walls and roof would be removable, and the doors can be opened. The unnamed Nightwings would have spears, and one has a key to open the doors.
The volcano tunnel would have the same rainforest terrain on one side, but would have rock and orange lava on the other side instead of sand.
BOOK 4:
SET 1: Nightwing Library
Builds: The Nightwing Library, Bookshelves and tables.
Minifigs: Starflight, Morrowseer, Flame, Squid, Ochre, Viper, and Fatespeaker. 2x unnamed Nightwing
Includes a dreamvisitor printed onto a 1x1 flat round tile.
SET 2: Nightwing Lab
Builds: Tables and scientific equipment
Minifigs: Mastermind and Starflight.
SET 3: Battlewinner’s Cauldron
Builds: Battlewinner’s Cauldron, rock terrain.
Minifigs: Battlewinner, Starflight, Greatness, Fatespeaker
Play features: The cauldron would have a mechanism where Battlewinner can be lowered inside, while a “frozen” (translucent blue) version of her minifig is launched out. Translucent yellow, orange and red studs could also be dumped out of the cauldron.
BOOK 5:
Set 1: Scorpion Den + Enchanted Tunnel
Builds: Scorpion Den gate, market stalls, Thorn’s tent, Enchanted Tunnel
Minifigs: Sunny, Thorn, Qibli, Sixclaws, Preyhunter, Fierceteeth, Strongwings, 3x unnamed sandwings.
Extra set: Stonemover’s Cave
Builds: Stonemover’s Cave
Minifigs: Stonemover, Sunny, Dinner (the fox)
Set would include the third dreamvisitor piece, so all 3 would be able to be collected without buying duplicate sets.
Set 3: Weirdling Tower
Builds: Weirdling Tower, Cage.
Minifigs: Scarlet, Smolder, Flower, Sunny, Peril, Thorn.
Play features: The cage would be able to be opened up, so Scarlet can be put inside. The roof and walls of the tower can open up to allow access inside.
It would include a printed dreamvisitor piece again. Scarlet would have a new face print, showing her face burnt.
FINAL SET: The Brightest Night Battle
Builds: The Sandwing Stronghold, desert terrain.
Minifigs: Clay, Tsunami, Queen Glory, Starflight, Sunny, Thorn, Smolder, Flower, Queen Glacier, Queen Moorhen, Queen Coral, Queen Ruby, Princesses Blister, Blaze, Burn, Peril, 5x unnamed Sandwings, 3x unnamed Skywings, 2x unnamed Seawings, 1x unnamed mudwing, 1x unnamed icewing.
Includes a box and two snake pieces, printed to resemble dragonbite vipers. Set would include a special molded Eye of Onyx piece for Thorn.
The set would be able to be combined with the Weirdling Tower as well.

Reasons why you should read… Wings of Fire!!
Random LONG-ASS post but idc because this has been my favorite book series since 3rd grade and I still HEAVILY fixate on it - for anyone interested (after I explain ofc) These books are by Tui T. Sutherland and are available in audiobook, paperback, hardcover, and Kindle I think.
Reasons you might enjoy WoF and features of the books!
-creative character designs
-full plot with little to no holes and if there are any, they’re probably explained in one of the MANY side books available.
-well-written characters that can be powerful without being a “Mary Sue” and having their own personalities
-each book follows a different protagonist, sometimes with the protagonist switching up mid-book
-a prologue and epilogue in each book
-15 main books released so far with more coming!!
-STUNNING cover art
-the main characters are dragons!!
-Written like those fanfics where you read them and you forget you’re reading a fanfic but it’s still not quite written like an ‘official’ book, y’know?
-descriptive writing so you don’t have to imagine stuff in weird vague ways
-LOTS OF LGBTQIA+ rep! Including but not limited to: mlm rep, wlw rep, non-binary/non-conforming rep - and the best part about it? It’s casually brought up! It’s normalized! Not even the villains or shitty parents show an OUNCE of homophobia or transphobia!
-There are humans in these books! And POC rep!
-women in leading/strong roles :3
-different continents!
-different tribes of dragons each sharing similar traits depending on their habitat!! NOT JUST RANDOMIZED DRAGONS EVERYWHERE ALL MIXED TOGETHER WHERE YOU DONT EVEN KNOW WHO CAN DO WHAT!!
-Each book features a map of the continent it’s set on, a description of the dragons of each tribe living on that continent (including looks, powers, diet, affiliation in war depending on the book, and current Queen) and a page for the prophecy the book fixates around (different for each arc)
-Three arcs, each solving a different conflict but STILL IN THE SAME PLOT!!
-creepy mind-control stuff!
-well-written villains
-lines that have made me CACKLE out loud multiple times
-TONS OF SIDE BOOKS WITH EXTRA LORE/INFO IN THEM!!
-and so much more! Read them for yourself to find out!!

Clay 💖🐻
1/5
•Clay when he was born already had the instincts to protect the other Dragonets when they were born, growling and yelling at them but Kastrel gave a roar that made him lower the ball quickly
•Clay likes to listen to Starflight talking about his interests and feels that Starflight is happy with someone having the patience to listen to him
•Clay and Tsunami during training are more playful than fighting since Clay can't train in fighting with any of the Dragonets for fear of getting hurt
•Clay lets Sunny climb on his back to feel bigger and safe
•Clay also serves as support for Gloria who feels very despised by the guardians
•Clay is interested in history and especially in medicine since he thinks that healers save many lives and he would like to save others
•Clay when he was younger tried to have some interaction with the guardians especially with Kastrel but that reminded her of her children and made her more anger
•After meeting Perfil at the beginning, Clay saw her as a new friend, after counting a lot between their scales he felt a different warmth coming from her
•After meeting his brothers he made a place with stones representing each of his blood brothers
•In the rainforest he managed to learn a little medicine from the Rainwings healers
•At the beginning of Jade Academy, Clay had two roles, therapist and healer, he attended to some students like Winter to try to help their family and social relationships
•Clay spread posters with peace drawings between Mudwings and Icewings around Jade Academy so that the relationship of the new generation would not be affected by the war since they were in a very brutal fight

Ranking all Wof Cover (except winglets and graphic novels) because I’m bored :p (Some spoilers!)
#1: The Dragonet Prophecy. Personally, I think it’s cool, although I think it could have a little more action on it. In the drafts, it was gonna have Queen Scarlet’s arena, which I think would’ve been a cool edition to the cover, but sadly they removed it. 7/10
#2: The Lost Heir. Ok this one is awesome. It really shows Tsunami’s personality in her pose and it has so much action yet not to much. But they did forget to put the royal markings on her wings, which kinda makes her seem a little less important if you’re just looking at the cover. Originally it was gonna be called “The Last Heir” which sounds epic, but then again Anemone is in the book, so it wouldn’t make sense. 9.5/10
#3: The Hidden Kingdom. One of the coolest covers, I’m a sucker for the wings contrasting with the background (which is a reason I love The Dangerous Gift) but to be honest, Glory just kinda doesn’t stand out. Even with Tsunami being blue on blue, she stands out while Glory just… doesn’t. I think it would be cool if we saw her using venom, and if you say “But she doesn’t use venom in the Rainforest in the book!” Boy are you gonna do a flip when you see The Lost Continent. 5/10.
#4: The Dark Secret: Honestly… just kinda… meh. I mean sure Starflight’s pose is cool, as it shows how the Nightwings are supposedly these evil mind reading future seeing beings that are going to rule the world, but it’s not really as cool as Tsunami’s or Clay’s. If anything I think the background makes up for it. The blue cloudy sky contrasting with the dimly red lit stone just catches my eyes immediately. 5/10.
#5: The Brightest Night: I love this cover. Mainly because I love the way Sunny is portrayed on it as she is a hybrid but also I love the three moons in the background and the Sand Kingdom. Sunny’s golden yellow on the black night in the back is just perfection to my eyes. 10/10.
#6: Moon Rising: I adore this cover. And not because Turtle is on the back but that’s a reason I love it as well. Moon having that green fade on her wings is just really cool imo, and this is one of the covers that actually takes place in the book. I think it would be a little bit better if MoonWATCHER was look in the direction of the MOONS, but other than that I love this cover. 9/10.
#7: Winter Turning: The draft for this wasn’t going to have purple on it, and to be honest, I’m glad they added that. The purple really brings out Winter and the Ice Kingdom, and it really makes everything pop. 10/10.
#8: Escaping Peril: Ok so maybe I’m a sucker for red on blue but Peril’s cover is just, wow. Her being chased by Scarlet is awesome, but I’m a little sad it didn’t happen in the book. (I think? Haven’t read this in like a year) My only complaint is that it doesn’t look like the Sky Kingdom in the back. Like if I first saw this cover and didn’t read WOF, I would think they’re flying over human city’s. 7/10.
#9: Talons of Powers: Don’t be bias about this one because Turtle's in it, Don’t be bias about this one because Turtle’s in it, can you tell that this is my favorite cover? Other than the fact that Turtle’s on it, I love the fight between Turtle and Anemone on the cover, giving away a key point, but not too much spoilers. I also love all the action on the cover, with Turtle soaring out the water. But they did forget Anemone’s royal patterns, so it’s not perfect. 9.9/10
#10: Darkness of Dragons: Qibli’s yellow on the sunset background is just perfect, alongside the dark pieces of stone from the ancient Nightwing city. His pose really shows how Qibli is brave and daring, but they did forget his snout scar, which is like the one thing that makes Qibli, Qibli. 8/10.
#11: The Lost Continent: Blue’s, well blue is the perfect contrast to the orange Pantalan savanna and the tan hives. Now, most people don’t like this cover because, “Blue doesn’t get his wings in the book!” or, “Cricket described him as blue, but on the cover he’s purple and green!” And my response to these are, 1: Tui actually was going to make Blue have no wings on the cover, but she thought he looked more pretty with wings than without. And 2: I personally love purple and green blue, It makes him look more related to Admiral and it makes him less of an eyesore imo. (If you seen the book description version of him on the wiki, you know what I mean). 10/10.
#12: The Hive Queen: Again, even though it’s yellow on yellow, Cricket still manages to stand out. I think it’s because Cricket’s more yellow, while the hive is more orange. I think the lights and the.. hole dens? Really just make the background so visible but not the main focus. 10/10
#13: The Poison Jungle: How does Joy Ang manage to put the same colored character on the same colored background and still make them stand out? Magic. Anyways, Sundews pose and the Poison Jungle in the back just really shows how fierce she is. Her small gold scales make her pop from the background, and I think the light behind her is the key to not have her blend it. 10/10
#14: The Dangerous Gift: Like I said in THK, I love wings that stand out from the background, so this is one of my favorite covers. Snowfall flying with Lynx by the coast where the Silkwings would fly in gives away so much yet so little. Also I love Snowfalls pose, no reason why it just looks cool :). 10/10
#15: The Flames of Hope. Honestly…. This cover is the worst in the Lost Continent Arc. Honestly Lunas pose is cool, and I think it would look really awesome if it wasn’t for the lighting of the flamesilk. That kind of blends her into the background at makes it a little boring to look at. But I do have to say I love Sky with Wren on the back and even thought Sky is described as pale, I love a red Sky. 6/10.
#16: Darkstalker: Darkstalker in on his mewing streak on this cover 🤫🧏‍♂️👌. I love his black on red background, but it’s boring. There’s nothing going on in the back, and he’s just standing there doing nothing. 6/10.
#16: Dragonslayer: I don’t have much to say about this cover. It has so much action but so little at the same time. It catches my eye but at the same time it doesn’t. I’m honestly very meh about this cover. 5/10.

human!WoF American suburban NightWing parental groupchat gossip AU where Starflight is an excellent student functioning on around 5-6 hours of sleep a night and is an AP Scholar with Distinction by eleventh grade (scored all 5s on APUSH, AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, and AP Statistics) with a 4.000 GPA and he also plays two instruments and became a National Merit Semifinalist due to his standardized testing scores. Mastermind won't stop bragging about his son, which is why all the other NightWing parents of the neighborhood are smoking intense copium and saying that Starflight is only a twiggy nerd who has no athletics to put in his college application. He is 30% of the reasons why the other NightWing children have self esteem problems and is possibly the most hated child in the neighborhood. Starflight doesn't notice because he's too busy doing homework instead of talking to people.

We Were The First
We Were The First, Starfather Games, 2009
You know how some sci-fi settings have one particular alien species that is "the eldest", first in the universe to attain starflight, providing wise guidance to the newer species? No? Well, it's an older trope, it's not as in vogue any more, and it was already getting subverted by the time Babylon 5 came around. But this game puts an interesting twist on it.
You see, in this universe, humans are The First Ones. The game is set in the distant future, after humanity has made contact with dozens of other life forms. We also have a Great Disaster in our past, perhaps even the destruction of Earth itself. We Were The First (WWtF, not to be confused with W:tF) has your characters attempting to make peaceful contact with strange aliens and help them avoid the kinds of mistakes your people made in the past.
Violence is a failure state. The entire combat system goes like this: "You can shrug off any harm done to you. If you try to harm someone else or win a fight, you succeed. However, you lose something important that you have gained or could gain this session." The few weapons you bring with you are immensely more powerful than anything you're going to run into, so someone who attacks you just wastes their time. The moment you start striking back, you've lost. Negotiation, give-and-take, and empathy-building are the game's key subsystems.
Core stats are fairly simple, consisting of Professions (Diplomat, Trader, Spacer, etc.) and some Resistances (Tenacity, Wisdom, and Calm). The complex part is your relationships with others. Each relationship has a rating from 1-3, and a Sentiment (love, curiosity, deference, obsession, etc.). You have to have some positive-emotion Sentiments and some negative. You can even have multiple relationships with the same person - You might have Love 2 and Curiosity 1, or even Love 2 and Hate 3 and Obsession 2 all with the same person. It can be a fair amount to keep track of. Luckily it borrows the Exalted 3rd rule of "If it makes sense that you have a particular rating with this person, just write it down when you need it. It doesn't have to be on your character sheet beforehand." Really, the relationship system is very close to Exalted's "intimacies". Building and changing them is a core part of the system.
The random alien and planet tables are my favorite. They flow together such that one roll modifies percentages for other rolls. Certain types of aliens are more likely on certain types of planets, and certain planet types are more likely around certain star types. Communication type, sensorium, mobility, closest Earth equivalent for visual description purposes, linguistic compatibility, emotional spectrum differences... they cover a lot. You roll up how many governments there are, what types they are, who they send as their first-contact teams, what their religions are like, and more. For some people this would be overkill, but they're really well-designed and I like them.
The biggest place where WWtF fails is that it doesn't explain why the ship is entirely humans. Why don't any of the other alien species in the Galactic Unity come along? A few half-assed rationales are given, the best of which is that they have their own ships with different life-support systems, but even that doesn't hold much water for me. It feels like a plot hole. If you can get past that, this game gets a strong recommend from me.
WWtF is distributed as a file package is compatible with Obsidian, Zim, TiddlyWiki, and other desktop wiki things. You can theoretically also just open it with a web browser.

The Calling Curtain
Scarlets new hatching day was just around the corner, and to her it was the perfect victory lap after getting rid of the leader of those Phantom Thieves! Three Moons, she wondered herself if her mind knew any bounds to its intellect! Even her recent scarring felt secondary to her now!
Today however was a particularly special day, a new retelling of her favorite musical “Oh Thrilling Queen Scarlet! now featuring more Scarlet and more bloodshed!” She had handpicked the best actors theater had to offer, and of course the best The Skywing Treasury could buy!
Now all she needed to do now was watch the most thrilling and totally accurate of tellings of her life story, how thrilling! nothing was gonna ruin her night
***
“Alright, we have everything together right? so all we need is the calling card!” Sunny stated, picking at the food Clay laid out for everyone
“Indeedio short gal! now we just need to pick about how we’re gonna go about sending it!” Tsunami stated with determination and confidence “…any ideas?”
“Hmm, it would be pointless to just try and mail it to her, she would just ignore it.” Starflight commented
“And even if we handed it to others to try and get them to read it to her, it’s still a doubt of if they’d read it in time!”
“Yeah! your head could be on her mantle by the time they even read the first sentence!” Tsunami joked, but Glory simply shuddered at the very real and VERY likely possibility she ends up dead if things go wrong
“What should we do then? not even my visions are telling me!” Sunny asked, with her and some of the others looking towards Clay to see what he thought, when suddenly a slightly crazed sounding cackle was heard between them all, as they saw Fatespeaker develop a growing smirk
“I HAVE A VISION! WITH A PLAN SO GREAT IT IS BOUND TO SUCCEED!” Fatespeaker shouted with such determination and glee it was almost infectious, her tiny teardrop scales seeming to almost gleam with her excitement
“Tell us all about it!” Starflight said, sitting down from across her as Sunny did the same and sat expectantly next to her best friend
“ The musical “Oh Thrilling Queen Scarlet! now featuring more Scarlet and more bloodshed!” is being played today correct? And who else but Scarlet herself would make sure to be attentive throughout the ENTIRE musical! I even have the perfect idea for when we could intercede! right as the musical version of Joker is shot and murdered, we cut the lights and reveal ourselves!” as Fatespeaker explained more of her plan, Clay momentarily reminisced on his shooter, and after a moment somberly remembered how, as far as he can tell, she’s gone now…
“To hide our identities we’ll use those earrings we stole from that green guy Hai- I mean Pyrite beat up! if anything happens we have Deathbringer can of course distract the guards with smoke and mirrors and all other types he may have, until finally we conclude our comeback speech declaring Scarlets heart shall be next!” Fatespeaker finished her explanation, taking heavy breaths after finishing talking, and looked around towards her fellow thieves
“…It’s…PERFECT!” Sunny exclaimed, fully immersed with the plan
“Here I thought you’re just a loon!” Tsunami laughed, also on board with it as her scales momentarily lit up uncontrollably!
“I get that a lot!”
“Honestly, it’s stylish and brilliant!” Starflight exclaimed
“It’s amazing!” Pyrite shouted, as she finished her iced water
“I like the part where I distract the guards personally!” Deathbringer noted, looking smug as he thought of how cool he’d look
“It’s blazing Fatespeaker!” Clay finally spoke, as Pyrite and Turtle momentarily looked caught off guard
“Dawww! come on now, I can’t handle so much praise!” Fatespeaker blushed
“ALL RIGHT! It’s time to make these people come to their senses!” Tsunami shouted
“It’s showtime” Clay stated, as everyone readied up
***
It had been 5 hours since her musical started, and Scarlet couldn’t get enough of it! from her childhood to her doomed love to her complete rise to the power she holds today, it was all to thrilling to watch, Thrilling indeed, for what else could a celebration of The Most Perfect and Thrilling being be?
Now came one of her new and favorite parts! The Thrilling climax to the end of her most recent obstacle, as she leaned over her personal balcony to watch the reenactment The Phantom leader was about to be shot dead
BOOM
As the shot rang out, the lights went with it, with Scarlet feeling a moment of bewilderment as minor struggles were momentarily heard upon the stage, before it was lit anew, and suddenly, multiple new skywings appeared upon the stage
(dialogue is colored for your conveniences!)
“Good Evening, Sky Kingdom! what is UP everybody?!”
“We are the ones many of you know as The Phantom Thieves”
“And all of us, and I do mean ALL of us, are alive and kicking! But those shitty guys in power? They’ve been manipulating information to try and hide the truth!”
Skywing guards immediately attempted to head over, only for them to suddenly be caught in the sky by bolases, and for more unlucky ones, cerated disks, as someone in the shadows seemed to almost cackle with glee
“So before we appropriate our newest target, allow us to borrow your time!"
“The recent scandals of public figures, the accidents caused by psychotic breakdowns, and the mental shutdowns that have plagued the continent for now nearly 2 years. These weren’t caused by unknown reasons. One dragon is behind EVERY single instance, simply to satiate her own greed and desires!”
“That woman was afraid her crimes would be exposed, and so shifted the blame towards us! She even manipulated other kingdoms for that!”
“We only steal criminals hearts! but this asshole tried to dump what she did on us! Just goes to show she doesn’t care about those victims at all!”
The Head Guard was in a panic, believing if this went any longer it will be him who the queen targets next “ARE YOU ALL STUPID, JUST RUSH AND STOP THEM ALREADY!” Vermillion shouted, only to be hit by a large rock that quickly knocked him out
“Ahaha! This is to fun!” Deathbringer laughed from the shadows
“The identity of this coward is none other than The Woman of the Hour! The Queen of The Skywings! Scarlet!”
The Crowd all gasped at the sudden revelation, as Scarlet continued to stand from her balcony, now letting her thrill seeking get to the best of her, having Vermillion then tell the remaining guards to stand by as she waited to see what came next
“Everything that woman says is a lie! and to prove that…” All the dragons then gathered towards the center of the stage, with Deathbringer quickly putting on his own earring to join them “Do a headcount if needed! all of us are alive and kicking! I’m sure our investigators can tell you if it’s a lie or not! My friend right here has even had a vision that Scarlet herself shall confess all the crimes she’s committed! Please look forward to that!”
“We’re not gonna sit back and watch some napoleon complex having crook wreck the continent cause of her goddamn ego! ain’t that right, Mr Leader?” The crass Skywing then gestured toward the dragon in the middle, as he put a lookalike version of his mask on and removed his earring, revealing his real form, as Scarlets intrigued smile turned to a shocked frown as she saw the Mudwing reveal himself
“Yes, before that happens, we will take back this continent and free this kingdom!” The entire crowd went into uproar, as The Phantom Thieves all quickly flew off into the night in the ensuing craze, with a faint meow heard alongside them
All the while, Scarlet looked upon the arena, before turning back towards her palace, lightly touching the part of the mask that covered her scarred face, as it felt as though a new burning anger etched upon her
“Hmm…It appears I myself shall have to deal with these pests.” Scarlet almost missed that monster of hers, and had a feeling her recent disappearance may have coincided with these thieves as well, which made her all the more angered
“Very well then, I shall be the one to crush them under my talons!
How thrilling!”

To add on to the previous ask; the limited additions are like an alternate story/version of that book it's for.
Book 1: the Dragonets get caught by the SkyWings, however Sunny was taken by Burn, and Glory is forced to fight in the arena.
Book 2: Tsunami isn't actually Coral's daughter, and Coral hates her for some reason. Also the SkyWings never find the Summer Palace.
Book 3: After being kicked out of the Kingdom of the Sea, for whatever reason, the four remaining dragonets go to the Rainforest Kingdom to meet Glory's parents. Glory gets kidnapped from the NightWings, however only Kinkajou escaped. Kinkajou tells the others about what happened.
Book 4: Starflight sneaks into the Night Kingdom and frees Glory. The volcano erupts as they left - they didn't know it would erupt - and wipes out the NightWings.
Book 5: They go to the Kingdom of Sand and saw that Sunny was still alive. Never being told the prophecy was fake, they fulfilled the fake prophecy.

Peril of the SkyWings and personality disorders (she has them)
not all of them; that's a LOT of disorders, and i'd be severely impressed if i met someone with all of them, lol. but zooming in to cluster b (as i don't feel the others fit her, but feel free to present your own evidence in the notes), i felt like both aspd and bpd fit her.
(i myself have npd, so like i promise this isn't gonna be used to demonize her)
first, let's look at aspd. the criteria are as follows:
1. failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest 2. deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure 3. impulsivity or failure to plan ahead 4. irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults 5. reckless disregard for safety of self or others 6. consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations 7. lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another. B. The individual is at least age 18 years. C. There is evidence of conduct disorder with onset before age 15 years. D. The occurrence of antisocial behavior is not exclusively during the course of schizophrenia or a manic episode.
one requires three of the one through seven list, and Peril fits 3, 4, and 7. she also might fit 1, but as the wings of fire world doesn't have strict laws, it's hard to tell. with 4, she cannot get in physical fights without severely hurting or killing her opponent, but she constantly thinks about it and has to talk herself out of it. 5 might also fit, but it's hard to hurt her, and she tries very hard not to hurt others now that she's out from under Queen Scarlet's claws.
age is weird for these guys, but i'd put her at a year older than Clay (who is like, 7 or 8 now, right?) so she is an adult by dragon standards, albeit a young adult, and these symptoms have persisted since she was very young. she also, as far as i believe, does not have schizophrenia or manic episodes, so criteron D goes out the window.
so! judging by those criteria, she has aspd. but there's more to the lived experience than that, so basing it off of what i've seen pwASPD say when they talk about their experience, let's look at what goes on inside of her head.
she consistently has to talk herself out of setting other dragons on fire, as for the vast majority of her life that has been the entire reason for her existence (quite literally; she would've been killed if Scarlet didn't want a fun new toy (ew).) she also bases her morals on what Clay would want her to do, and how he would react to her hurting someone. she also has a hard time with empathy (i would say she has none. same, Peril, same) and struggles with knowing what to say in a situation, as well as being ruthlessly practical to the point of being read as completely uncaring & still a monster (that last one is from my own experiences w aspd traits, but i feel like it fits). also, Starflight made an offhanded comment about her being a sociopath, and while that is Not Cool on his part, it does point towards her having aspd even more.
now! bpd time. the symptoms are as follows:
1. Fear of abandonment
2. Unstable or changing relationships
3. Unstable self-image; struggles with identity or sense of self
4. Impulsive or self-damaging behaviors (e.g., excessive spending, unsafe sex, substance abuse, reckless driving, binge eating).
5. Suicidal behavior or self-injury
6. Varied or random mood swings
7. Constant feelings of worthlessness or sadness
8. Problems with anger, including frequent loss of temper or physical fights
9. Stress-related paranoia or loss of contact with reality
one requires five of these in order to fit the criteria, and in my eyes, she has them. she has 1 (constantly worried Clay will no longer like her due to her actions)
3 (if i remember correctly she outright thinks "who am i when i'm not killing other dragons?" as well as struggling for the whole of her book and probably both before it and after it with being Scarlet's creature, and who she is now that she's free of her)
4 (she betrays Scarlet in Clay's book despite knowing that Scarlet will not like it, and in her own book you consistently see her making big decisions without thinking them through all the way. see: her leaving Jade Mountain to go after Scarlet, burning Darkstalker's scroll, falling back in with her dad and Scarlet (part of that is the enchantment, and part of it is the childhood trauma, but i feel like it fits here).
7 (she bases her worth on her usefulness; first to Scarlet, then to Clay, and follows what they want to the detriment of herself)
8 (she's a very angry dragon. she gets irritated and annoyed very easily, and struggles not to hurt anyone due to that anger. you see her at the beginning of her book yelling inside her head about how she shouldn't HAVE to stay out of Ruby's way, and how OTHER DRAGONS should be more careful around her, and how if anyone hurts Clay she can't even THINK about it otherwise the cave will fill with rage smoke.)
she also has some of that black and white thinking in regards to most dragons; Clay is literally whom she bases her morals on, and if you aren't friends with Clay you're his enemy and she hates you.
she also has issues with jealousy; she's terrified that she won't be loved, and as a consequence Strongly Dislikes his friends due to fear they will convince him to no longer be her friend.
on top of that, Peril has very strong feelings; she either LOVES you or HATES you and there is rarely any in-between; the only notable exceptions are the rest of Jade Winglet, and Scarlet. we also see her have strong emotions; Clay will do something kind for her and she will, and I quote, "feel her entire soul turn into a fireball".
now, i don't live with either of these disorders, so feel free to add on things you think i missed, correct me on things i got wrong, or anything else.
but in conclusion: Peril has aspd & bpd, she would benefit strongly from a dragon therapist, and she is doing her fuckin best. also i love her.

organizing my thoughts on ships because it’s late and i can’t sleep and the dragons are eating at my brain like RFK’s worm
i’m gonna go by books and canon ships and whatnot. it’ll make sense as it unfolds (lie)
i like cleril. i think the characters complement each other really well for various reasons. however i also like aroace clay and aroace peril, or peril x glory. some would call me a multishipper. i can and do imagine peril and clay in a QPR
ripnami is boring to me sorry. tsunami needs someone to match her freak. alas we do not see any suitable characters in the series
glorybringer is weird. age gap makes it weird inherently even though it’s a mistake. even without it it’s kind of weird to me. i don’t think i ship it i think they’re gonna end up amicably broken up and glory will move onto women
fateflight? starspeaker? i don’t like it i don’t like that starflight was given sunny lite as like an apology from the author that he couldn’t get sunny 😭 ironically i like sunnyspeaker a lot more
aroace sunny or sunnyspeaker and honestly i accept nothing else
arc 2 and it just took me like 5 minutes to figure out how to turn off the bullet points 😭 i’ve been on tumblr for 7 years.
okay i’m sorry im about to be a hater. i don’t really like any of the love triangle ships to be completely honest. if one of them has to happen the only right answer is qinterwatcher but only after qibli and moon apologize extensively to winter and even then i think he deserves someone better 🤷 i like moonjou though
the above applies for winter lol
i’ve also already spoken on peril
turtle is like idk. can’t figure him out. don’t really ship him with any current characters but i also feel like he’s the type to find someone eventually. someone to match his freak but in the opposite way of tsunami
qibli has been spoken for already lol. umber x qibli is cute in theory but the age makes it kind of weird? aging in wof is fucked 😭
arc 3 good god
okay sorry blicket weirds me out. the fact that cricket didn’t really think of silkwings as dragons until she met blue and was like awww he’s so pretty is so weird to me 😭 i don’t ship it and also hivewings are kind of just a mess
above
sunlow 🫶🫶🫶🫶 nothing else to say
snowfall x lynx. i never claimed to be original
i like luna and swordtail :) they are sweet to me and i think him sitting on those candies before asking her out is adorable lol. idk i like them
i should make gender sexuality headcanons next im rambling tn lol
i also just want fodder to draw for pride
are any of these hot takes? this all feel incredibly room temp tbh

Weekly Reading Update (06/10/24)
Tumblr media
Reviews and thoughts under the cut
Forced Bonds by J. Bree (9/10)
I think this is my favorite of the series so far. The majority of this book was par for the course, but there were a few major things that really brought it to another level for me. One is the reveal about the main characters' bonds, which I'm very interested to see a resolution to, and another is the ending, which I never expected from this kind of series. I have my doubts that that development will actually hold, but it still took me by surprise!
Toward an Aesthetic of Reception by Hans Robert Jauss (5/10)
This is a literary theory book that is highly useful to some research I'm doing. It is also incredibly opaque and miserable to read. I feel like I retained about 40% of what I read, even if I did get some useful quotes and ideas.
The Once and Future King by T. H. White (8/10)
I went into this one with a certain idea of what it would be like, and I was completely blindsided. Despite being a fantasy classic from the mid 1900s, it was quite accessibly written and a good bit of the humor holds up. I think what I liked most about this version of Arthurian legend was its portrayal of Arthur, Lancelot, and Guenever (that's how her name is spelled in this book). White did a great job getting across the nuance of the conversation and not villainizing any of them, even if they did act horrendously stupid at some points. There are certainly things I did not like about this book, major ones being how White is so obviously a white English man and how Freud's theories must have still been popular when he was writing, but it was overall an enjoyable read and a very obvious inspiration for a lot of modern medieval and Arthurian fantasy.
Haikyuu!! Vol. 34 by Haruichi Furudate (8/10)
It's a bit tough for me to rate manga volumes since they go by so quickly, but I think I would be hard-pressed to find a Haikyuu!! volume I don't like. While I've watched the anime many, many times, I'm finally committing to finishing the story through the manga. This volume in particular was quite good, focused on a highly anticipated match. There were some moments that got a little repetitive, but I expect that's the point since part of this arc is the Karasuno team's frustration at being unable to break through.
Haikyuu!! Vol. 35 by Haruichi Furudate (9/10)
There was a bit of a shake-up in this volume, and I think it's a great one for showing how Hinata has developed over the course of the story. The fact that he's being targeted for receives to keep him out of the game instead of because he's shit at them is a huge amount of growth in the first place! I liked the problem-solving displayed by him and the rest of the team, and the Hinata/Kenma dynamic is really starting to take off. I kept this at a 9 instead of a 10 because while the ending got me excited, I don't see yet how it's supposed to disrupt Nekoma's strategy.
The Dark Secret by Tui T. Sutherland (86%)
Starflight's character development through this book is really quite good. He's always been a nervous worrier, and I think the way he moves through the plot allows him to come into his own and find courage without abandoning his intelligence and conscientiousness. A good balance is struck, giving him character growth that doesn't overshadow or completely change his core personality. Looking forward to finishing this book and reading the final one in this arc of the series!
A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court by Mark Twain (15%)
The first isekai? I have so much to say about this book, but it's just going to end up being five paragraphs of nonsense, so I'll just say this for now: Hank is an annoying hypocrite and perhaps the first isekai power fantasy character. Do with that what you will.
Haikyuu!! Vol. 36 by Haruichi Furudate (33%)
So far I'm really liking this volume, and I just got some backstory for Kuroo and Kenma! They're so cute as children! I honestly can't tell who's going to win this match. My preference, of course, is for Karasuno since they're the main characters, but Furudate does such an amazing job of making the reader root for both sides. I'll be working through these next few volumes quickly since I want to go see the new movie this week!
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus (1%)
I've barely started this book, but I'm a little uncertain. I am not one for historical fiction usually, and I'm really only reading this for my book club. So far the main character seems a little too perfect to me; clever, driven, beautiful. I hope she becomes a more well-rounded character as the story progresses.

Hey, Wings of Fire fandom portion of Tumblr (and anybody else who cares to look at this), we have a question to ask you. Basically, we plan to reread the entire series once we find out where our TDP copy went off to and we want to make bookmarks to use for each of the three arcs (we already have plans for the Legends books). We also technically didn't even finish reading the series. We stopped halfway through Poison Jungle because school got really hectic and we ended up abandoning the book midway through. But... We can't decide who or what to put on this bookmarks. We would put the dragons featured on the book covers, but we highly doubt that'd look good (would likely be too cluttered), so we're asking for help deciding. We've set up a poll for the first time ever with the ideas we came up with that we liked the most. There's also some extra info about what each option would entail for each bookmark (basically with what dragons will be featured on each one).
Explanations for how each option will likely be carried out:
Option 1: Favorite Protag and Villain from each arc.
Dragons chosen for this one will be as follows:
Arc 1 will get Glory and Scarlet OR Burn, depends on who want to draw the most at the time we draw it. You can also put who you'd like to see most in comments or reblogs.
Arc 2 will get Winter and Darkstalker, potentially Chameleon instead of Darkstalker, though, since we plan to make a separate Darkstalker bookmark for his book.
Arc 3 will get Blue and Wasp, but we might do Willow instead of Blue, depends on if SilkWing anatomy plays nicely with us.
These bookmarks will likely be double-sided, with the Protag on one side and the villain on the other just to give them more space to be shown off.
Options 2 and 3: Just Favorite Protag or Villain.Basically the same as option 1, but we ONLY do the protags or villains. These bookmarks will likely not be double-sided unless we decide to make some sort of design or pattern on the back.
Option 4: Try to incorporate every protag featured in some way.
We try to find a way to neatly showcase every protag featured as the main characters in every book in some way. Ideas we had involved sectioning the bookmarks equally into five parts and doing some sort of drawing of just their heads, eyes, or even scales or wings. This one's really up in the air for us right now, but our personal favorite idea for this one is the scales/wings, as we feel we can actually differentiate between the dragons nicely based off scales if we do it right. They'd also be in the order of their books from top to bottom (for example, arc 1 would go Clay, Tsunami, Glory, Starflight, Sunny). These bookmarks will also likely not be double-sided unless we do a design or pattern on the back.
Option 5: Favorite Tribe of each arc.We know what you're thinking. "Arcs 1 and 2 use the same tribes!" We know. That's why we'll either use our top two favorite Pyhrrian tribes for 1 and 2, OR use a hybrid for arc 2. The designs we use will just be based off general color schemes for the tribe and not one particular character (or we might base them on OCs, who knows) and if we use a hybrid, it will likely not be any officially mentioned one. The tribes we will be using will be as follows:
Arc 1 will get NightWings
Arc 2 will get either SkyWings OR a hybrid. Hybrid will likely be a SkyWing/IceWing hybrid, because we've always wanted to design one.
Arc 3 will get HiveWings
Will more than likely not be double-sided, but maybe we'll add extra dragon designs on the back of we feel like it.
Option 6: Other.
If you have any other ideas not listed, feel free to throw them at us. Maybe we'll make another poll with those ideas included and the highest voted option on this one to find a true winner.
We will be posting these bookmarks when we finish them, as well as potential work in progress shots. These will be fully traditional for those wondering, but we might make digital versions of the linearts for free use if we remember :) We've been wanting to make some bookmarks for a while because we're constantly grabbing a sheet of notebook paper and tearing a rough rectangular shape to use as a bookmark and it's about time we made something nice. And for those wondering what our style looks like, we'd say our style is like a simplified version of Joy Ang's style. It's similar, but we typically don't add the really fine details. Also, talons will more than likely get hidden because we suck at drawing them and will avoid drawing them at all costs. Anyways, this post's gone on long enough, so we'll just let this poll run for the whole week.
Oh yeah, and the options are for every bookmark. We want them to be pretty consistent, so all three bookmarks will have roughly the same style to them. So please don't say anything along the lines of "this option would be cool for arc 1, but you should do something else for 2 and 3." We want them to look alike :)
Also, if you could reblogs for a potentially larger sample size so it isn't, like, three people choosing options, that'd be wonderful :D Don't have to, but we want as much input as possible to help with the indecisiveness.

A couple more additions for y'all
8: HE HAS NEVER CRIED IN HIS LIFE
9: He is so very self sacrificial, probably most famously in the scene in book 5 with the dragonbite viper where he nearly died. But there are still other times, such as how he convinced Scarlet to put him in the arena instead of Tsunami or Starflight before the Fjord fight, or when they where imprisoned by Coral he let the others stand on him when the prison was flooding, OR how in book 3 he went with only Deathbringer to free Glory from the NightWing island. It becomes apparent when looking at all of this that Clay values the other dragonets' lives far more than his own, to the point where he gladly puts his own life on the line whenever danger arises
10: His internal monologue is incredibly self deprecating. He compares himself to the others constantly (he's not as smart as Starflight, he looks dull and boring compared to them, etc.), and he hardly ever (if at all) thinks about himself in a positive light
11: There's one part at the beginning of book 1 where Sunny accidentally startles Clay, then he proceeds to cover his head with his wings and profusely apologizes. He also guesses that he's in trouble for eating extra even though he was told he could have it, and then says that he can skip dinner tomorrow. This whole bit is treated as a joke and isn't dwelt on. I think there's a lot to unpack there....
Okay, so looking at my notes about Clay, he:
1: Believes himself to be solely responsible for keeping his siblings safe no matter the cost because he's the biggest and oldest (by like 20 seconds mind you)
2: Blames EVERYTHING that goes wrong on himself, to the point where he genuinely holds himself responsible for the deaths of others he has only been a witness for
3: Would rather die then let his loved ones worry about him because That's His Job and He's Fine, He Swears It
4: Was probably the one who got beaten by Kestrel the most as a kid because she was "trying to make that monster come out," and she wouldn't stop until he was unconscious
5: Believed for his whole childhood that there was really a "monstrous" side of his waiting to overtake him, and possibly that it would go after the only people he cares for in the world again
6: Thinks himself to be a failure because he can't be that monster, that he's the weak link in the prophecy, and that he has nothing to offer except HIS OWN LIFE
And one more that is my own speculation, 7: Puts up a front of being nothing but a lovable goof and foodie so that no one will look beyond the surface and realize that he has fears and doubts of his own. Because he's supposed to be the foundation, and he can't crumble on them. Besides, it's not like a monster who's at the center of everything bad that's happened to them deserves love, right?
In conclusion, the lad's due for a breakdown and I'm THIS CLOSE to making him go through it myself.
